Hey btw just so everyone knows. I might be slowing down in either updating fights or propaganda. I'm working one fulltime job, a part time job, trying to save up for college (again lmao), working on an ep, recovering from some severely emotionally distressing personal events, as well as working on 3 other huge personal projects that i finally got resources to work on.

Just between the two jobs the only real days and times i'm able to do anything are friday evenings and weekends (if nothing from my second job comes up). I'll still stream if I have the time, that's probably the most "relaxing" thing i have outside of reading, and I'll still try and get propaganda stuff out when I find the time, but it might be slowing down.

Anyways, I super appreciate all of yall. I do read everything you put on the fights, I honestly really like the responses to the silly one day polls I put (the valentines one was fun especially), and this whole adventure has been absolutely nothing but a good time for everyone involved.

So super thank you, everyone, all my little pollbugs (HA found a time to use it!) for being so chill and making this as fun as it is. Round 3 ends tomorrow, round 4 will also be out tomorrow. Love all of you <3

Hey folks! It's just about time to start thinking about art.

I've tried to sit down several times and work out a style for Signal Hill, and it's just never looked right. Eventually I concluded that if I wanted art that looked right, I'd need to hire somebody else to do it for me.

So I'll be commissioning paintings of the characters from a very talented artist, @/wuntrum (not tagging because I am shy <3), whose are you can peruse here. Not only are they talented, they also have a comic called Signals, so it's like the universe is trying to tell me something haha. This is going to be over a pretty big time span because obviously it's quite expensive and it takes time to make art, but expect to be seeing the first piece in the next few months.

However, I still have some time to decide who is going to be the first up! I don't want to decide entirely on my own, so I'm going to make it a poll.

I'm also narrowing the options down to just characters we've met in the actual game so far. All of their portraits will be based on their in-game introductions. I'm going to give you a description of what I'm thinking for each one, the pros and cons, and I'll let y'all have the final say (or maybe like... the second-to-last say. If it's close enough I might pick). Without further ado...

Doc

I'm hoping to eventually have two versions of Doc, one with and one without the plague doctor outfit. The one you'd be getting first, though, would be with. It would be a full body painting of him standing against an abstract desert landscape, something that could function as both standalone art and have the title placed on the right. This one is probably also going to be the most expensive? Unsure, I won't know until I run the concept by the artist. Also it might be a little sad if the first piece I get is one where the character's face isn't even visible lmao.

Yasmin

This is the image that's been caught in my head for MONTHS, actually since super early in the game's development, haha. Yasmin reclining in a couch covered in pillows and draped with translucent fabric, possibly holding her pipe or possibly with arm outstretched to the viewer. Gah. I want to see it soooooo bad. But also maybe it would be good to leave this off until later, so we've got the vibe down a little better before getting started on this one?

Yvette

Yvette's intro is similarly iconic, seen from a low angle in a fancy robe perched on the fancy staircase. I've got a very good idea of what this one would look like since I've tried to draw it several times before, so that would be good re: references. It'll also be less expensive than the others, since I don't want this one to be a full body shot. So that's a big plus.

KC

The big downside with KC is that I'm not 100% sure which concept to go with- I could do her at the beginning of Lamplighters, in her windbreaker, with her feet kicked up on the table, smoking. Or I could do something inspired by Test Run. For that reason, it's probably best to leave her until Test Run comes out, but I'll throw her in in case y'all really want to see her intro scene lol.

Levi

Levi is similar in that I'm not 100% sure about the concept. It would certainly be him with the knife in Tracking Number, half body, but I'm not sure what angle or mood to go with, so I'd probably be leaving it somewhat up to the artist to decide. Might be better to leave him until later, but again, I'll include him in case y'all really want to see him.

Okay I cut the earlier Monster AU poll short. Partly because I'm impatient, and partly because I kinda rambled on this in the discord.

So most of y'all said 'give a bitch a break' and I am for the most part. Oddly enough I also realized that a lot of the 'this plot focuses heavily on the existence of Heroes and Quirks' things can be summed up in this AU as 'it happened but not as severe'. The Todoroki nonsense, the Izuku/Katsuki fallout(and Izuku getting bullied in general), so on and so forth.

Anyway! Todoroki Nonsense:

So as there isn't any Heroes, much less the Hero Ranking system, Enji just..... doesn't go off the deep end? However he is still very ambitious. Working his way up through the Realm of Magic. Gaining power, status, and a good reputation(for a Demon, at least).

But he still needs some sort of boost, which is where Rei's family comes in. The family is already wealthy and of high status(canon). And hey, could always use more of a status boost right?

They come to an agreement. A union with typically opposing species(Demon/Angel) is quite rare, and even rarer is the fact that they're capable of making hybrid children(which could be quite powerful if they get a proper 50/50 split). This will get both parties the attention they want.

The kids get pretty much the same combos of the Demon/Angel as they did Fire/Ice in Canon. So

Toya - Appearance is mostly Demon, with a few Angel traits if you look. Has Demon powers, but no resistance to Fire and a weakness to Hellfire in specific. Immune to Holy Magic but can't use it.

Fuyumi - Appearance is mostly Angel, with a few Demon traits if you look. Only Holy Magic, no Demon Magic.

Natsuo - Appearance is mostly Angel, a few Demon traits but pretty minor. Only Holy Magic. Has a little resistance to fire/Hellfire, but far from immune.

Shoto - pretty much 50/50 split. Still going with the Chimera thing for him, but I don't want the horns to be lopsided so we're fucking with that a little lmao

With the kids being made with less specific purpose past 'existing',, they're not pushed as much with training. Like obviously they have to be taught to use their powers, and Enji would push a bit to make sure they're not just capable but efficient. But there's less intense drive behind it.

Not to say it's all sunshine and rainbows. Because like. Do any of y'all think that Enji and Rei had good childhoods? Because I sure as shit don't. So it's much more down to earth 'these two are a bit fucked up, and they inadvertently fuck up their kids'. So there is some abuse happening.

There is more of a build to it. Because things spiral more slowly. So I think the height of it is going to be Shoto his scar, but I'm going to move that further down the timeline so he's a bit older. Just things go sideways and neither parent's mental health is doing 'well' and it's not the first time the kids got hurt, but it's the first time it was something severe and accidental instead of 'discipline'(hitting your kids to discipline them is still abuse ofc, but people who do that shit see it different'.) It was double accidental because instead of the kettle it's an outburst of Magic from Rei that does the damage.

In this AU, this incident is kind of the wakeup call to both parents of 'hey, things are fucked, maybe we should re-examine our behavior and maybe see a therapist'.

And.... some parts work, some don't. Enji and Rei do get better, but there's a lot to unpack with the kids. Because they're all old enough to understand that yeah hey their childhood was fucked up. I'm bumping the scar incident to when Shoto's closer to 10, which would make Toya and Fuyumi nearly legal adults and Natsuo is probably entering High School. So yeah they understand that they're all a bit fucked up from childhood trauma(and there is minor resentment that 'oh really? Hurting the baby brother is what smacks sense into y'all finally?')

It doesn't help that I'm keeping Toya's 'death', though I need to figure out exactly what happens there. And I'm keeping the Timeline from CC so he's 19-ish when that goes down.

Which. Does cause guilt for Enji and Rei and resentment from the remaining three kids. Because hey if they hadn't fucked up, that might not have happened.

It doesn't keep them from working on things, and it's a lot better by the time we get to the present. But it's far from perfect and, again, the resentment still exists. It's just less active anger and more trying to fix things.

appearance:

There are two kinds of people— you either prefer Teagan or Asterias. These two are genuinely so fine that students tend to like them (like a crush yk, not just platonically or smth LMAO) based on their personalities rather than solely relying on their looks.

Teagan’s got golden olive toned tanned skin, gray eyes, and full messy black hair. He’s got defined masculine leaning features and he’s ABSOLUTELY ripped. I didn’t make him like this without a purpose— It was simply because he helps his family transport heavy crates to different ships and wagons (I mean like he’s quite active in general, not just walking of course, he likes fighting and working out)

Teagan has a severe case of RBF despite his personality; he’s got no tattoos or piercings, tho I think he’d like to get his ears pierced.

I realized I haven’t said what style they like to wear, so I’ll do it for Teagan today (I’ll edit the rest of the posts with their own styles eventually). Teagan isn’t really into fashion; he values mobility and comfort over style as long as he doesn’t look, in his opinion, ‘noble and stupid’. He doesn’t like stiff shirts, so he usually wears looser garments. His wardrobe consists of brown, dark brown, black, cream, and very occasionally… dark green. He almost always wears some kind of boots (unless it’s a special occasion, he’d be wearing the black dress shoes his dad forced him to wear). As for his hair, if his hair’s long enough, he’ll tie it in the back. The most he’ll really do is brush through it.

personality:

Teagan’s a total extrovert and tends to have large circles of friends. When he’s alone for long periods of time, he can get a little antsy. I imagine that he’d bother his friends to hang out during finals season, but since everyone’s probably studying, he’d have to accept taking some notes in the library 😭

He’s the kind of guy that would try to help you out with literally anything, even if he’s not good at it. He’s a terrible artist, but loves to draw stupid things just to mail them to his friends. Teagan would definitely also pass notes around in class. Like Straus, he’s a terrible dancer, but yk at least Straus gets dance lessons… NEVER dance with this guy.

Despite his playful nature, he knows when to get serious. Teagan’s more of a logical thinker, but he’s incredibly kind and doesn’t like to see people he’s close to get hurt.

He really loves eating meat and raw fish. His dad had to stop him from eating fish straight up out a river (uncooked) many times as a child. Teagan’s also really good with kids; he knows how to cheer a kid up or teach them something without getting super irritated. Teagan’s weird asf not gonna lie, but hey at least he’s a really good cook. He doesn’t really cook for people he doesn’t know honestly, so like he only does it for people he’s close to.

relationships & status

Teagan was raised by his father after his mother died giving birth to him. Unlike a ton of Isekai manhwa fathers, his father didn’t hate him for being born, rather, he put all of his love into raising his son.

Teagan was raised well despite his non-noble status— his dad is a wealthy merchant. He often interacted with nobles because of his dad’s business; through these interactions, he grew a strong hatred for nobles. It isn’t rare for those higher in the social chain to treat people ‘lower’ than them with disrespect, and he definitely got a glimpse of this kind of mindset when attending meetings with his dad.

When Teagan was about 8 yrs old, his dad adopted another child off the street. This child ended up becoming Teagan’s little brother; his dad called him Archie because he used to arch his brow whenever he was the slightest bit confused— but then at around 3 years old, his dad decided that he needed a better name, so he named him ‘Archer’. Teagan and his dad still calls him Archie. When you shift here, Archie will be 13.

As you’d expect, Teagan’s really close with his dad and his younger brother. Teagan was supposed to inherit the family business, but since he’s an S-ranked rider, Teagan’s dad began teaching Archie all the stuff he needs to inherit his dad’s position just in case Teagan wants to do something else with his life.

His dad doesn’t want Teagan to be involved with super dangerous jobs; he’ll likely get pretty angry if Teagan wants to pursue a more dangerous career.

BnHA Chapter 307: The One With Shindou

Previously on BnHA: Endeavor and Hawks (and Jeanist too, although he didn’t really do anything, but BY GOD, WHAT IS UP WITH HIS NECK) held a press conference and were all, “everything you’ve heard is true, so we would just like to say, from the bottom of our hearts... our bad.” U.A. opened its doors to the public as an evacuation shelter. Deku and All Might told basically EVERYBODY about OFA, which is absolutely wild, and yet somehow we hardly paid any attention to this at all. Mostly because the chapter ended with Deku being all “I WALK A LONELY ROAD, THE ONLY ONE THAT I HAVE EVER KNOWN” and peacing out of U.A. to embark on a solo journey of angst. So this is either gonna be the best or the worst thing that ever happened to this series, so TIME TO FIND OUT WHICH IT IS.

Today on BnHA: Horikoshi is all “so who do you guys want to see next? Deku? Bakugou?? Well how about SHINDOU?” Shindou is all “hi :) I’m Shindou :) :) remember me :) :) :)?” Horikoshi is all “I’m so sorry for depriving you guys of Shindou for so fucking long, how about an ENTIRE CHAPTER ALL OF HIM” and then he REALLY FUCKING DOES IT because, I don’t know?? Did we make him mad?? Am I being punished for something I did in a past life?? It really is, honest to god, seventeen whole goddamn pages of Shindou, punctuated by a few pages of Muscular, and topped off with one (1) whole appearance by Deku at THE VERY END. And we don’t even get to see his face. I am beside myself lmao I’m sorry you guys, you can skip this recap if you want. Or just skip straight to the end, because movie 3 promo.

The last season of The Bold Type could have been better, it felt so rushed and a couple of the plot lines came out of nowhere and didn't make sense. At all.

I saw your post giving us a sneak peak for welcome to the digital age, babe and swooned when I saw you put a Taylor reference for me. I didn't read it though, because I prefer to experience the whole thing in one go.

Like I did last night, when you posted the whole chapter. Funnily enough, I was rereading another one of your fics: he laughed, she shrieked; she yearned, he loved. The references to Taylor's songs are not only greatly appreciated by me, but they also fit the story arc to a t. Weird how I hadn't brought that one up.

Now, the chapter. I'd firstly would like to thank every person who voted for angst on the twitter poll. I hope all of them are having a great day. I loved it. I loved the humour, their panic, their failed attempts at communicating how they're feeling, the fact that looking back from this chapter to the first or even second one, you can really see the progress their relationship has had, that we're officially in the mutual pining territory. I also would like to say that you do such an amazing job at conveying their emotions through text messages that it baffles me a bit. I think is a testament to how talented you are with words, that you can find the perfect way to arrange them so we can understand what they're feeling and thinking, without having access to their inner dialogues, descriptions of their facial expressions and basically only getting a summary of what happened based on what they text to each other and rest of the characters. okay so i’ve been watching dnp for 10 years (as i’m sure everyone knows cos it’s like my whole personality lmfao) but i didn’t watch them for the whole of 2018 up until dan coming out so i literally was not expecting a coming out at all 😂 like okay so i didn’t see dan’s initial tweet (but i do know people pretty much assumed from that what the video was gonna be) so i was just sitting in my room minding my own business when i got the youtube notification i looked at it (like i didn’t even realise i had dan yt notifs on lmao) and i remember so vividly going “no fucking way, what?” like over and over again and i genuinely did that for about 5 minutes before i actually watched it and then i sent it to all my irl friends who used to be phannies and they were all freaking out too. so i finally watch it and then it finished and i watched it again 5 times that night! that night was also the night this blog became a dnp blog like i sat and reblogged every single thing from the phan tag and i joined a discord server and reverted back into my phannie self! 😂

then phil posted his tweet and i was like omfgggggg and bare in mind i’d all ready cried about 10 times but phil made me cry again

and then for phil’s video, i think i was a bit more chill cos i already knew it was coming after dan’s so it wasn’t as much shock but yeah basically the tdlr is that i was so shook by dan coming out that i rejoined the phandom in a bigger way than i ever had as a teen (eg i never had dnp related socials until BIG)
