but then I discovered some really funny sonic YT channels- my favorite one and I still watch now is SonicSong182 - they’re so silly and I love everything bout this channel XD I recommend (at some point they were also part of my childhood pf) and I just discovered it again last year!!! My inner child was STIMMIIIIING more so knowing that one of my close friends know this channel too :D!

and then the first and second sonic movies came out AND BOYYY THEYRE SO GOOOOOOOOD AUGHHH I need to rewatch them just to refresh memory AND to be more hyper for Sonic 3 :]

and now college me is gonna watch sonic 3 — like ngl im so happy to live through this and im so so happy Sonic never really died and I never really lost interest in it at all,no matter what,im just thankful Sonic made my childhood,made my teenage hood,making my adulthood,and still making my inner child so happy Yanno?

I’m going to watch all the British soaps this week (8/26-8/30) without having watched them in a very long time or ever. Here are my thoughts for the episodes on Monday. I’ll do the different parts for each day

Side note: I’ve watched hollyoaks before and a bit of emmerdale (Aaron & Robert’s storyline & the Jackson stuff) I haven’t kept up with either since maybe 2018 or 2019. + I’ll skip things if I find them too much or uncomfortable

Day 1 - August 26

Hollyoaks

Has the best title sequence

Where I was watching it muted when there was music so I didn’t get to watch the scene with sienna. The last scene wasn’t muted but I didn’t understand what was happening with Patrick and the other woman (who I think I know but can’t remember)

I didn’t like the Cleo story

I didn’t fully understand the stuff with kitty and that man but ngl I was kinda siding with him if kitty killed his daughter and someone named beaux went to prison for it but he seemed to want to keep beaux in prison so I think I needed more context there

My favorite story of this was the James and ste stuff. I read James is sick so I’ll probably start fast forwarding that now. But I liked the part with Leah, Lucas, and Dillion. I think the acting from whoever plays ste and James were great today! James especially did really well I think. I was a bit shocked at how good his acting was ngl

Emmerdale

It was a lot easier to follow hollyoaks right off the bat because I knew a lot of the characters. From this ep, I only knew Cain, Chas, Moira, and jai

I’m a bit confused with this stuff with dawn. And are her dads wife (Kim) and dawns mom played by the same person?

I’m obsessed with Mack! He’s hilarious

Cora Watches: The Way She Moves (2001)

Hello friendos! Today, in this random series no one asked for, we tackle a 2001 movie made for VH1, which I would describe as the love child of Dirty Dancing and She's All That. I've been watching X-Files season 9, spiraling in Doggett/Reyes (see here). This movie not only stars Annabeth Gish, it aired within months of X-Files season 9.

The Rookie fans: that's Kamar de los Reyes, aka Detective Caradine, as the male lead.

Let me whet your appetites. Here are the ending credits. Just drink it in:

Fun fact: this was hard to track down. It's not streaming and didn't get a US DVD release. So the copy I watched was not the best video quality, and it's a Polish overdub (I do not speak Polish). Not voice actors. It's just one (1) dude saying the lines in Polish over top of the English. ngl, it added entertainment value.

AG's early career cast her multiple times as the classic Good Girl: sweet, innocent, naive, kind of shy. This movie does the same. She plays Amie, a sweet-tempered office worker with a Wealthy Bland WASP-y Fiance and two Zany Gal Pals, as is law in a romcom. Amie likes photography, and if you don't think this movie will give her the chance to embrace life for real instead of hiding behind her camera, well, you have not been paying attention.

Her girlfriends give her and Bland Fiance salsa dance lessons as a gift, hoping they'll "loosen up" before the wedding. When Amie and Bland Fiance walk into the studio, they see a Sexy Salsa Group dancing a routine, and Amie is amazed. Whoa. Who knew dancing could be sexy?

Annabeth Gish does a reasonable job pretending to have two left feet; you better believe she steps on someone's feet within 60 seconds of the beginners' class starting. It's adorable.

Bland Fiance, who does Business, gets a Business Job offer to do Very Business in NYC, so he zips off and tells Amie, sorry babe, have fun in those dance classes without me. I have to go do Business.

And how convenient: Hunky Obvious Romantic Lead breaks up with the woman who was both his dance partner and girlfriend. She decides to bait him, tells him he can't train a new dance partner. He takes the bet, they see Amie awkwardly doing basic steps nearby, and Ex says Okay, train her, then. Yes, exactly like She's All That.

So now Amie is getting personal lessons? Just like that? She just goes with it, a little confused that Hunky Dancer is suddenly totally focused on her (meanwhile, her Zany Gal Pals are all eyebrows). Hunky Dancer has her meet him at a salsa club to give her a chance to learn in context. She shows up in one of the many super, super adorable dresses she'll wear in this movie. I have real wardrobe envy.

Hunky Dancer was hoping she'd relax seeing everyone around her having a good time. But oh nooooooo the dancing is so SEXY and she is so SHY.

Luckily, Hunky Dancer is really nice about it. He takes her back to the studio so they can practice alone, no pressure, and she can kick off her shoes.

We have the first of many montages. Amie and Hunky Dancer practice! She's getting better! This is where I realized that Annabeth Gish is actually a good dancer. She and Hunky Dancer end up leading a little studio get-together, and everyone is dancing and attractive and having a great time.

They step outside for some air, and... can you believe this... they kiss.

Amie panics and walks away, leaving Hunky Dancer feeling guilty. The next day she explains to him that she's actually engaged (she had briefly lost her ring, then decided not to wear it in front of him, so he'd never seen her wearing one).

After some deep thought, Amie dumps Bland Fiance.

She goes back to dance lessons, and if you don't think that means another montage, well. Try to keep up.

And yes, the inevitable happens. Amie hooks up with Hunky Dance Man, in a very tasteful basic-cable-TV-movie, fade-to-black love scene.

There is another montage. This time, they're going around the city, taking each other's pictures and just generally being cute. Everything seems perfect, right?

PSYCH!

At a big fun picnic, Amie again looks adorable.

But at this picnic, Amie finds out that Hunky Dancer's Ex actually dared him to partner with her (as @mylittleredgirl pointed out: "am I a bet? am I a fucking bet?"), and she's very hurt, because we need some kind of conflict in our movie, because that's how movies work. Also, there is a Big Dance Event, and it is conveniently on the same day her wedding is/was scheduled. Amie very gently tells Hunky Dancer to take his old dance partner back.

Buckle up, because this is where we leave the rails.

-So I guess Amie is just... engaged again? Just like that?

-Amie's mom stops her just outside the ceremony and tells her to follow her heart and marry for love, not money

-as she walks down the aisle with her brother, Amie experiences her own mental montage, thinking about all the great times with Hunky Dancer and the many times he's been shirtless and brawny

-she bolts. just turns around, mid-aisle, and hightails it out

-oh, did I mention that her brother is a firefighter? Because he is. So Amie hops onto the fire truck in full wedding gown and veil and they drive over to Dance Event

-Amie kicks off her shoes, loses the veil, and joins the dance team onstage for the Big Final Dance, which she knows perfectly, even though she stopped going to rehearsals

And here's the final shot:

Do I recommend this?: Honestly, yes. It's ridiculous but it's so fun. Of course, you might have to watch a blurry Polish overdub like I did, so keep that in mind. This is a giant ball of cheese, but I love cheese, and Annabeth Gish is so adorable, you can't help wanting to hug her.

21) Favourite Companion?

Honestly my favourite has to be Ruby! Surprising to me as well but the way she's written- there's just something about characters that have trauma and are just fully willing to accept that someone suddenly left them for no reason (the doctor, 72 yards), and not even be mad about it. Also I adore her outfit design.

31) Favourite Episode ever?

Ooh probably The Midnight Planet. It's one of the few episodes that the doctor actually feels like they're about to perma die and no one can do anything about it. Idk I just love the position it puts them in.

41) Classic Who or New Who?

I love the vibes that classic has but I think because I started with new who (and that's where 13 is) I'd have to go with that one. I do love the janky CGI classic who has though.

51) Favourite monster/villain?

The weeping angels. Gah I love them, their into episode is so well done. Not a fan of how they're handled in that one episode with Amy in the forest, but not much can be done about that. Either way I love how terrifying they can be, the potential for indimitadion factor is incredible.

61) Torchwood or Sarah Jane Adventure?

I'm gonna be so honest I haven't watched either but I'm extremly bias towards Jack Harkness because of the him Rose and 9 thing, I got so excited the first time I saw that lmao

Kerblam man, there's something so funny about those guys I love them sm (and if that's not a good enough answer uhhh those space age clockwork robots from 10's season)

Okay so everyone is at TK & Carlos' house for dinner including Amy Acker, who is now "part of the gang" I guess. I'm annoyed that she hasn't dumped Owen yet.

TK just said, in the most monotone way ever, "If you don't like pho you're out of luck" and like – he says everything in a monotone, that much is a given, but I just needed to highlight it because I'm like… you have had three lines in this show, and you work so listlessly with the material you're given that I am completely baffled by you at every single turn. I don't know if he just doesn't like the writing (understandable) or if Ronen is just completely incapable of acting at all. I know it's not a very big line, but the way he delivers it is just… ?????? FLAT? And the director was obviously like "yeah cool next take"

In conclusion, this show sucks, continuing on

I think Carlos is about to figure out the big twist, makes sense, he's one of the smarter ones

Owen's a big Emilio Estevez fan and now I'm trying to think if Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez were in a movie together - THEY WERE!!!

They were in The Outsiders (how DID I NOT REMEMBER THAT) and St Elmo's Fire together, amazing, I love that little Easter Egg honestly

Listen I know I talk a lot of shit about 2022 Rob Lowe, but 80s Rob Lowe? can fucking GET IT. There this movie he did with Demi Moore, it's called About Last Night, it was made in the 80s, he's naked for half the film and it's great. Highly recommend.

Also, if you've never seen St Elmo's Fire - do yourself a favour, it's fucking wild. Demi Moore's apartment in this movie is the pink fantasy of my dreams. Also 80s Andrew McCarthy? The DREAMIEST

Would I have been suspicious of Julie Benz early in the episode? I would like to say yes but I think I definitely would've figured it around the time that Owen left her in the apartment with Carlos and TK. Like it was very clearly not the cop doing the stalking, he was the red herring the whole time, so… I like to think I've watched enough TV shows with plot twists by now to figure out who the real criminal is.

And honestly? Like as dumb as this whole thing was, and as Owen-centric as it was… it was very fucking entertaining. I think my biggest criticism is that any woman on the planet would find him attractive enough to want to stalk, let's face it

In final conclusion:

UNUS ANNUS GOODBYE LIVESTREAM HIGHLIGHTS;

(From someone that watched it completely despite completely ruining their sleep schedule as a result,, worth it tho ✌)

They rented and set up an Unus Annus themed room and had a laptop between them to directly check out videos on, as well as a timer on a screen to remind us of their impending doom.

Amy (bless her soul) was the true moderator who from a?? Tech spot above them would speak into her mike like God and direct them to looking at out of context screenshots, memes and fanart from over the past year.

They scrolled through the channel from beginning to end and had the time to watch a dozen of them - particularly like a video from each 'era' ish of the channel, like the first ones or Camp Unus Annus as well as fan/their favorites.

All the editors got shout outs + were probably tasked to make a compilation video of the edits they were individually tasked to do and ended up making just absolute masterpiece tributes 😳

They watched videos such as Mark and Ethan Attempt an Escape Room, DIY Chiropractor, DIY Geriatric Simulator and so on...

Mark had never seen one of their last videos, Ethan Kidnaps Mark, which was the pre 'The Truth of Unus Annus' video and was basically Ethan's version of the Mark's Outside Escape Room from Camp Unus Annus.

DJ Burt Blackarach sent them a cake + bottle of champagne and ☠ y'know Ethan doesn't play with baked goods due to his peanut allergy and Mark cant drink alcohol but they appreciated the sentiment (we all did c'mon it was super sweet)

Mark got the bug watch for Amy that he'd accidentally donated in that early on video with Sean about Donating Toys to Charity!!

They almost killed a video that they found mediocre (but that is actually one of my faves ngl) aka How Much Caffeine Can Kill a Man but at the Last Second they realized that they probs shouldn't get rid of a video beforehand fnfnfn with the reasoning being that it could be someone's birthday video and that it deserved to live till the bitter end (that being of like. 5 extra hours)

There was lots of general shenanigans and ramblings/bits from time to time, with Mark and Ethan being pretty content and ready to say goodbye to the channel.

Oh yeah and then like at 2 hours and a half before it ended Ethan got a live tattoo done of the counted down to 0 timer as Mark failed to be normal around the tattoo artist and 'hAd' to mention the Pee Sauna and Pee Soda to her-

On the subject of tattoos they went through some amazing tattoos that fans had gotten and sent pictures of

Hashtags on Twitter were being flooded, with things such as #Unusannusisoverparty, #WeWereHere, #MarksNewHat - which, yeah Amy got him a top hat and I don't think I've ever seen such pure joy on his face than in that moment.

+++ Amy was wearing an epic suit which was their main aesthetic of half white half black...

Mark reiterates how proud he is of Ethan, of Amy... of the whole team!!! I got emo it was starting to get too real

AND THEN MARK HAD SURPRISE CUSTOM UNUS ANNUS POCKET WATCHES FOR AMY AND ETHAN,,,

So then ya they started getting a bit more speechless/emotional near this bitter end, and at an hour ish left I want to say was when they hit 1 million likes on the stream - and they kept pushing to hit that milestone since if they reached it they would reveal what was inside the coffin...

Plottwist!!! The coffin was empty but they decided to test it out and take turns in it (the material inside was apparently very soft).

So then Ethan gets in the coffin which commences a string of eulogies between em which got me way too emotional and was like a part of the stream that was just Being Brutally Honest With Each Other 2.0.

Mark basically talking about how proud he is of Ethan + how he's excited for his future endeavors and knows that despite the goofy exterior he shows he has such potential and then Eef gets out of the coffin crying which then proceeded to make chat (and me) cry fukcC

Mark gets in the coffin and Ethan talks about how hardworking and no bullshit a person Mark is and how he's learned so much from him and how Mark has never given up on him and his constant presence and support has changed him-

Mark gets out of the coffin crying, they hug it out and ya everyone's crying emotions r healthy gang and damn did we go through a rollercoaster of them...

So I'm weepy and dont necessarily remember exactly what was next, but Amy also got in the coffin which prompted Mark to just go off and give her the most well deserved praise ever since she was the one behind so many of their most creative/cursed ideas and was ghaaa Mark obviously could have talked about her for forever it was super sweet and shes just so deserving of all of that 🥺🥺🥺 gosh we really have her to thank for all the hard work that was put in and resulted in such an amazing payoff...

The last video they watched was The Barrel Song by the way with Schmoyoho, which was weirdly??? Really fitting since it was about saying goodbye and destroying something that you'd become fond of.

Evan then ominously says in response to being offered to get in the cry coffin with like. 5 minutes left on the timer that he totally went in it earlier which was him just politely saying No💖

Oops also forgot to mention but in the last hour they slowly deleted/privated the Instagram, Tumblr, Reddit and Twitter accounts.

And for the ultimate end which wow really came too fast once the numbers dwindled down to 10 minutes left Amy sat in frame in between Mark and Ethan as they clicked the delete channel button and the stream went dead.

Starting with that 1. the way 1DHQ and 1D Management managed to alienate larries actually worked and i like knew but truly doing a proper deep dive and seeing multiple blogs hate on larries and like obsessively stalk us was insane?? Like they truly believe everything they’re being fed???

Side Note: Lowkey feeling very lucky to have had the education i have because even before i even joined this fandom i believed partially none of the relationships in the news bc like i knew abt this industry and how it worked yk? i mean its logic? i have so many mates that arent even in the fandom that know i am in the fandom and texted me when the articles started rolling out calling it out for what it was: A PR stunt

Hell someone i know whom i had never even talked abt fandom stuff/stunt stuff fully texted me making a joke out of it!!! like people who aren’t even in our fandom can see it and its just insanely surprising that if they can why cant the antis?? im just a bit shocked rn

both from 1. finding someone who actually believes in this stunt and 2. multiple blogs that fully commit their time to stalking u and other larries and once again i knew but fully seeing it

And yeah, that blog and their 4 followers are really... not well. But you're very right. 1DHQ made this fandom a breeding ground for people to hate larries and to think it's something Harry and Louis would both approve of. It's gross.

So I said I'd give an update after I went to see them, but never did so here I am doing that now. Same order + Marius

Valjean: Okay so Milan was amazing, but my age issue was valid. He did look very young even when Valjean was already supposed to be an old man. The only moment where I went oh yes old man was during the finale. Acting and singing wise he was absolutely amazing though.

Javert: 10/10 as expected. Freek Bartels did not let me down. He did such an amazing job and was the perfect amount of unhinged and wndhsjbsbs.

Enjolras: Mark Roy Luykx, I am so sorry I was so mean, you did great. He really had such brick!Enjolras vibes and his interactions with the other amis were just so good. Sure, there were definitely moments where I would have loved to see some more stage presence and fire, but it was already so much better than in those early clips. And considering I did see it less than a week after the premiere, I have confidence he's grown into the role even more since.

Éponine: She's played by Vajen van den Bosch, she was great. She made me cry. She was amazing.

Cosette: Now I did not get to see Sem Gerritsma as Cosette when I went to see the show, but from some filmed les mis performances the cast has done, she looks like she's an amazing Cosette. Plus she's been close friends with our Marius actor for years so they have a lot chemistry together. Something the U/S lacked with Marius.

Fantine: Channah Hewitt did better than I expected ngl. She made me cry. However she did sound more poppy in some places than I'm used to. I was not as bothered by it as I had expected to be when I saw it on stage, but it's not my favourite rendition. Other than that, she did great.

Madame Thénardier: Oh yeah, she was great. Her acting choices were amazing too.

Now, in the last post I went on a whole rant about why Marius had not been cast yet despite all the other main cast members had already been cast. Well for some reason they decided to make a bigger thing out of it with a whole "who will be Marius??" post before the reveal, so let's talk about him.

Marius: Michael Muyderman might very well go on my list of favourite Marius's. Maybe I'm biased cause he's the one I saw live, but holy shit he was amazing. Despite brick!Marius being quite different from musical!Marius, he still managed to have some brick energy and he was the right amount of socially awkward and so in love and just so Marius, I don't even know how else to describe it. He was just so good.

I already made an entire post about Grantaire (though that was based more on his dynamic with Enjolras so I might make a separate post for him anyway), but if you want to know my opinion about any of the other characters or actors let me know :)

I have a lot of feelings about the casting for the new Dutch Les Mis production next year. Or well at least about my first impressions about those who are already casted. So imma make a post about it whether you like it or not.

The new Dutch production is just as in the West End the new production and apparently Mackintosh was very closely involved (hurray /s)

Let's start with Valjean: honestly my first impression of the actor was "Oh he'd make a great Dmitri in Anastasia." (Turned out he did play Dmitri in the Dutch run of Anastasia so I was right about that.) I don't know his voice well enough to say anything about whether he can sing Valjean's songs and I am not sure if he's classically trained. But he does have a pretty good voice from what I could find so far. My main issue is though, that he looks younger than Enjolras. This is more an issue with the Enjolras casting but I'll touch onto that later. I'd have to see him in costume before I can make any final judgements about him looking young being an issue, but it's a bit worrying. He's reading the brick though

Javert: honestly this is a casting I'm exited for. Freek Bartels was a pretty great Enjolras during the Dutch 2008 run and I feel like he would make a great Javert too. At first I wasn't too sure if he could get the unhinged vibes Javert has, but now I think about it more, I am pretty sure he can and will. He has been in a lot of shows including several classic shows and, like I mentioned, Les Mis before. So Freek, don't let me down

Enjolras: where do I even start.. not to say that Enjolras has to he played by the hottest actors out there, but Enjolras is supposed to have a certain charm around him. This actor has none of that. He's the most generic looking man I have ever seen (absolutely no offence), he looks honestly a bit too old and from the few clips of him I could find, it didn't look like he has the most stage presence, which I think is quite an important thing for Enjolras to have. You have to believe everyone wants to follow this man, you have to believe and understand why Grantaire looks up to this man so much. You have to believe him in his role and in his passion. Maybe Mark (the actor) will end up surprising me, but I don't have much hope. However, credit where credit is due, he does have a pretty good voice and looking at where he studied and his former roles he is probably classically trained or at least has been in several classical musicals before. So at least he can bring the opera sound to the performance that it's supposed to have.

Éponine: this is a casting that doesn't suprise me. A few days before I knew they were gonna bring Les Mis back I was literally thinking about how, if they were gonna bring les mis back, Vajèn van den Bosch would be cast as either Éponine or Cosette. This is mostly because she's Vajèn cause she's just kinda everywhere, but also because she is a very good actress and singer. She has been in several classical musicals and she absolutely has the voice for the role of Éponine.

Cosette: I am pretty sure the actress just graduated. And this seems to be her first big musical so all I can say is that I'm exited for her. I am sure she'll do great.

Fantine: ah yes, Channah. I've seen her in a show before as older Nala in the Lion King. This was a long time ago though and I don't remeber much of her performance. The only other role I could find was that she apparently played Tina in the German run of the Tina Turner musical and that she makes (Christian) pop music now. Honestly she can sing, but I am really worried she's just gonna sound like a popsinger instead of bringing the classical sound she's supposed to have in the role.

And last for now, Madame Thénardier: apparently Mackintosh was insanely enthusiastic about her casting but idk if that's even good anymore. Personally I don't know her and I could find that many clips of her so all I can say is that she looks very similar to most actresses cast in this role.

I am still confused about the fact that they already casted Madame Thénardier but not Marius?? Nor Thénardier himself?? There was this "les mis in a nutshell" thing the new cast did, and obviously Marius was mentioned several times. However, because there was no actor playing Marius yet, he couldn't give his side of the story so if you didn't know anything about the show you have absolutely no idea who this random Marius dude they're talking about is.

They also keep saying they've casted all the main characters, but then where's Marius?? Is Madame Thénardier a main character? And not her husband who has more to do? I am confused.

Seth! As a choir kid myself, I do agree Seth definitely is a band kid. I could see him either playing a string instrument, like Cello or Viola (Viola’s are a big bigger than violins and harder to play). That or something like the trumpet.

Sarah being a theatre kid just Makes Sense. I think if the chaos of MH didn’t happen, Sarah could’ve moved on to professional acting gigs or live theatre productions.

Jessica gives me life, I love her, honestly. Do you think she’d be a fan of Gen 1-3 of MLP? (Gen 1 was 1982-1997. Gen 2 was 1997-2003. Gen 3 was 2003-2010, for reference) if so, I gotta know her favorite character xD

for seth, i go to a school which primarily specializes in music and the performing arts and just. he would fit in well with all the band kids tbh i also believe that he would definitely be like. a tech for the school plays and performances n stuff, primarily because sarah insisted he help out a bit with it

for jessica, since the mh characters were born around mid to late 80s, i’d definitely say she enjoyed gen 1 and maybe gen 2, but primarily bc of nostalgia reasons, yk? as for favourite character for gen 1, idk why but firefly first came to mind? so.

man, its been literal ages since ive seen any of the early mlp gens ngl we had em on like vhs n shit, and watching the mlp movie from 1986 is like a formative memory of mine ahshsjshsj

Ngl even though I really want Cry Baby Reader and Eren to work things out, I've also had multiple fantasies where Reader is killing it in the business world and meets/falls in love with an older man like Levi or Erwin and has some emotional maturity in her relationship for the first time ever. And they treat her so well, but even so she still has insecurities from her relationship with Eren, so any time she cries she tries to hide it from them. But then one day they wrap her in their arms and tell her that she doesn't ever have to hide from them, and that she can come to them about anything. And meanwhile Eren is losing his fucking mind because he's seen the insta posts of them together and realizes that she's looking at them the way she used to look at him and-*DEEP BREATH* clearly your work has affected me quite a bit lmao you're amazing and I can't wait to read more!

reader deserves a man that can treat her right… erwin, (i’m sorry levi but erwin just gives these vibes) who is the ceo of the company reader works at, showers her in gifts in the way eren did, but he does it in a way that empowers her, not degrading or belittling her. he gives her gifts because she’s royalty to him, deserving of all displays of affection, not because she needs him, or wants to have leverage over her, but because he genuinely wants to. erwin shows reader how a man should act, he’s there for her when she needs him, but gives her her autonomy and freedom to do as she pleases, always trusting and never doubting her loyalty to him. he’s just a complete 360 from eren, and in his arms reader is very fragile, unused to being treated so well. erwin helps reader build herself back up after the way eren treated her, showing her all the good things about herself and why she deserves to have her needs met. i can just imagine erwin showering reader in compliments and soft kisses always, there is never a scenario in my head where erwin would be bad to you </3.

#1: sam uses his hand scar to break himself out of his hallucination. dean taught and encouraged this coping mechanism. aka dean encouraged sam to use self harm as a coping mechanism...knowing that sam would do anything he said.

2020 Fanfic Year In Review

234.290 words this year. In 41 chapters and 12 stories.

That’s almost as much as last year even though I expected to barely hit 20k words with the busy year that was predicted for me in January - and well, then I had a lot of free time at home that I did not expect to have. Let's see if NEXT year will be the 20k year lol?

Anyway, this is a lot more than I thought it was. A LOT MORE. It felt like way less! 

3. Your most popular fic this year:

The Unintentional Seduction of Chiba Mamoru (by FAR, both by favs and reviews and kudos and hits)

Runner-Up: Deception

4. Your personal favourite this year:

For the first time ever, the most popular is my favorite, too. Seduction has my heart (Especially Chapter 3: Research. Obviously.) Runner-Up for me is Blind, though. Simply because that was such a personal fic!

5. Your favourite scene:

Hands down, Mamoru researching How To Do The Sex in Seduction. That was the most fun I ever had writing a scene, let alone a chapter.

6. A fic or scene that challenged you:

Mamoru, My Girlfriend. Because I wanted to do well not only by gender-bend tropes, but especially by anyone who ever felt they were in the wrong body befitting their own gender identity.

7. A line of writing you’re proud of:

I'm pretty proud of Valse Triste. Both because SilMil is not where my talents lie, and also because I got to subvert the Casanova-Prince trope and turn it on ist head, make him the Protected Maiden instead while keeping his character completely intact.

Anyway, that was hard, and because of that, I'm fond of this scene:

 She didn't bat an eyelash at the ruckus outside, at the - to her - so foreign, bellowed words. Instead, her eyes were wide and calm and waiting and jumping between both of his, as if she were trying to look through him, as if she was searching for something, and he held his breath in careful, terrified anticipation until she found it.

The bark of the dogs rang off the palace walls, closer, and Endymion held his breath as the Moon Princess slowly stroked her fingers down his jaw, his neck, and dipped into his collarbone.

Every tendon in his neck was pulsing, his breath a heaving mess, his heart hammering in his chest, and he stood as still, still, still as he could.

But he couldn't keep the shiver in. When she ran a finger down the part in his tunic, the laces splitting open at her pull on them, her cool fingers against his burning chest.

His skin - his whole body - broke out in goosebumps where her fingernails brushed untouched skin.

"And?" she whispered to his lips, moved up onto her tiptoes. "Do you want to stay untouched?"

"No," he croaked, breaking and hushed in the dim, dim light. "No, I do not."

8.  A comment that touched you:

This is ALWAYS THE HARDEST QUESTION FOR ME, EVERY YEAR. WHY MUST I CHOSE AMONG GOLD.

Anyway. I'm lucky in the review realms. I really, really am. So choosing is hard. @daikon1​ wrote me a 20k+ character review the other day I wept on. So that one is up there. I also randomly screenshot reviews that made me happy though, so here, have a random sample of reviews I screenshotted from my phone gallery (i loves them):

9. Something that inspired your writing this year:

This year it's all about the fandom friends. Talking to you guys has been a HUGE driver of my (struggling) pandemic-creativity. Also brought out things like spontaneous collaborations like the one with @nari20​ where The King's New Clothes jumped out of!

10. Your proudest accomplishment (that one scene; finally finishing that one fic; posting your first fic; etc)

Honestly? This year? Writing at ALL. I'm an extrovert soul who thrives on crowds and people and while I am ABSOLUTELY in 100% support of social distancing and do it very diligently, I SUFFER AND MY CREATIVITY SUFFERS WITH IT. So, yes, I am proud to have made words go at all this year, ngl!

11. Do you have any writing goals for the next year?

I really do want to write that smutty Evil!Endymion fic I've been talking about… And a Snow White AU or two I've had in my drafts for almost a year now!

Anyway, yes, this year was HARD but MAN did this community here keep me afloat and I am SO. FUCKING. HAPPY. To have you! So yeah, thank you for being here with me! For interacting with me, be it through tumblr, through chats, through reviews, through my ask box. You were a WHOLE DAMN LOT of my much needed social life this year!So, thanks for being here with me!
