hiii can i request a fic of the reader having a crush on viktor but theyre too dense to realize that viktor reciprocates the feelings so they try setting him up with someone but viktor only wants them? <3
“Just a bit Dense” (viktor x reader)
You had always been the kind of person who focused on fixing others rather than yourself. Whether it was patching up bruises or tweaking machines, you were always the one in the background, quietly doing what you could. Viktor, however, was the one constant in your life, the one person whose intelligence and determination captivated you. He was kind, brilliant, and compassionate, and he had always taken the time to notice the small things about you.
But you didn’t see it. You were too thick-headed to realize Viktor’s subtle glances, the small touches that lingered just a bit too long, or the way he leaned toward you during conversations. You were too busy convincing yourself that you were just friends—just colleagues. That’s what you told yourself every time your heart fluttered at his smile, or when your face grew warm after a few too many innocent exchanges.
You noticed, of course, the way others seemed to admire Viktor too. His brilliance, his charm—how could anyone not? And that’s why you had a plan, an idea that had been brewing for weeks: if Viktor was going to be swept off his feet by someone, it might as well be someone who would appreciate him like he deserved.
So, you decided to play matchmaker.
One evening, while you two were working late in the lab, you casually mentioned someone you’d been thinking about. “You know, Viktor, I met someone today,” you said, carefully watching his reaction. “They’re really nice, and I think you’d get along great.”
Viktor paused, his pen still in hand, his attention fully on you. “Is that so?” His voice was soft, almost amused. “And who might this person be?”
You described them, knowing full well Viktor wasn’t quite as perceptive about relationships as you were. “They’ve got this brilliant mind, and they share so many of your interests. I think you two would make a perfect pair.”
Viktor set his pen down and looked at you, his eyes sharp with an intensity you didn’t understand. “I see.” There was a moment of silence as he watched you, and you couldn’t help but shift under his gaze. “But… what if I’m not interested in them?”
You froze, blinking. “Oh, come on, Viktor, don’t be shy. You’re a great catch. They’re a great catch. I’m just trying to make sure you’re happy.” You laughed nervously, your heart racing as you shifted in your seat. You weren’t sure what to expect, but Viktor’s reaction didn’t seem to match the excitement you’d imagined.
He leaned back in his chair, his hands folding together, his lips curling into a faint smile. “You’re quite the matchmaker, aren’t you?” He leaned in a little closer. “But the thing is… I’m not interested in anyone else.”
Your heart skipped a beat as you gave him a confused look. “What do you mean?”
Viktor’s smile softened, and for the first time that night, you saw something in his gaze that you had never noticed beforesomething almost shy, but incredibly sincere. “I’m only interested in you,” he said quietly, his voice steady despite the warmth that spread across your cheeks.
You blinked a few times, your mind racing. “Wait, what? Me?” You couldn’t fathom what he meant. “But… I’m just your friend, Viktor…”
He shook his head slowly, leaning forward now with a hint of vulnerability that sent a shiver down your spine. “You’re more than that to me. I’ve been trying to show you for some time, but… you seem to be rather dense about it.”
You were caught off guard. You couldn’t believe what he was saying. All the times he’d touched your arm, the gentle conversations late into the night, the way his eyes lingered on you—it all clicked in your head like a jigsaw puzzle finally coming together.
You opened your mouth to speak, but no words came out, and Viktor chuckled softly, reaching out to gently brush your cheek with his fingertips. “It’s alright, my dear. I know it’s a lot to process. But I’m not looking for anyone else. Just you.”
Your mind raced, but your heart… your heart was already telling you what you wanted, even if your brain was still catching up. You bit your lip, feeling like an idiot for not realizing sooner. “I’m sorry, Viktor. I didn’t… I didn’t realize…”
Viktor smiled, a mixture of amusement and warmth in his eyes. “It’s alright. I’ll give you some time to process it.” He pulled back slightly, but not entirely, his gaze still focused on you with an intensity that made your heart flutter. “Just know that I’m not going anywhere.”
The weight of his words settled in, and you finally allowed yourself to breathe again. Maybe you were a bit dense, but with Viktor, you knew you were safe to be a little slow to realize the obvious. And in that moment, it felt like the world was finally in place.
Viktor had always been the one who patiently pieced things together—his machines, his plans, and now, maybe… your heart.

Viktor x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 4k
Viktor is on the verge of collapse because of work, so you will “prescribe” him an unconventional method.
Warning: Mention and use of drugs (Weed). Sexual tension (I don't know if it counts, judge for yourself)
N/A: English is not my native language, feel free to correct me in the comments and I will update it. Remember to share if you liked it.

Translation of the request: The reader shows Viktor the joints
You bent down to pick up the twelfth crumpled ball of paper that rolled across the floor to throw it in the trash can.
As an assistant it was your duty to help with the less interesting tasks of being a visionary inventor. And that meant keeping things tidy and clean.
Which used to be the biggest burden, Jayce was a master at leaving important things lying around, his desk was always full of papers, notebooks, screw and bolts.
It was like being his babysitter, once he left at nightfall, you stayed to tidy up.
You wanted to go home and… try a new ‘relaxant’ you had bought, but it seemed like that would have to wait. Or maybe not…
Viktor always stayed too late at the lab, so while you cleaned up and complained about the mess of Jayce, he was always there, silent or chatting a little with you when he decided to take a break, something very rare for him.
But now he was really focused, mumbling things that aren't so nice to hear while writing in his notebook, then he got upset and hit the table a little before tearing off the sheet and throwing it to the floor. He's been like this for the last few hours, it seems like he could burn everything down if his formulas don't start making sense soon. It's weird to see him like this, normally he's someone who could have infinite patience, you suppose he has it with everyone except himself.
You approached his desk discreetly, as if you were tidying up a bit. You carry with you your usual relaxed energy, maybe you could spread some of your spirit to him.
"Viktor!" your shout surprised him, making his back tingle like a cat's "You look like you're about to pop a vein, are you okay?" they say with a soft smile.
Viktor guides his gaze from your hands on his desk to your face, you look at him with a calm smile, as if you hadn't just almost stopped his heart, it's always like that, there's no other way you could smile at him and if you think back he's the only person you really smile at.
He answers with a snort, rubbing his temples.
“Of course not. If I was this dam- prototype would work” he refrained from saying a rude thing, you knew him, for him, saying a rude thing meant he was losing his composure and that was something he never did “I'm starting to think that magic is more logical than science.”
He sighed, showing that he was quite exhausted, the dark circles under his eyes supported that conclusion. His thin hands combed his hair as if that would refresh his ideas before falling on his desk again.
That squeezed your heart a little and made a curious idea cross your mind, reflected in a malicious smile.
You let your hands wander across the desk, between the open papers and notebooks, to Viktor’s hands that were clenched into fists. “What you need is not more work. You need to relax…”
Viktor's body was the victim of a shiver when he felt your fingers approach his hand, his heart skipped a beat when he felt how your fingers tried to loosen their grip on his fist and finally succeeded. He tried to stay still, as if the slightest movement would push you away like a little bird, his gaze followed each of your movements in his hand, caressing his palm and playing with his fingers.
Was he surprised by your attitude? Yes. It was something he had never expected from you. You used to play little jokes on him, like shouting his name or throwing a pencil on the floor to get him out of his almost absolute concentration but... touching him? That was new. Sure, you were the secretary of both of them but you always had to run after Jayce because he was like a clueless child, even Viktor knew that. With him you weren't like that at all, you always gave him his space and kept your distance all the time. That had always made him feel uncomfortable, like he didn't belong to whatever was forming when you and Jayce were together, like he was a sour shadow life to the sidelines of happiness.
“Can I help you with that?” you asked in a whisper.
“I guess so…” He seemed nervous and that increased even more when he felt your hand go up his arm to his shoulder, where with both hands you did small massages on his shoulders and neck. You used to give Jayce massages when he was frustrated and a part of Viktor had always felt a little jealous of that, although he didn't want to admit it, it seemed unfair to him, Jayce had Mel and he really didn't get tired of talking about how wonderful she was and yet he also had you, always fluttering around him, always laughing with you, always accepting your merely friendly touch, always...always making you smile...he wants that.
He couldn't help but gasp when the pressure on his body began to disappear, his body was also enjoying it, after all it was the first time he could feel your touch beyond accidental brushes. He was grateful that you were behind him, he was sure that if you could see his face he couldn't hide how much he was enjoying it.
You looked over your shoulders at your bag hanging on one of the racks next to the door, next to Viktor's jacket. It was time to take advantage of that small purchase. You slid your hands to his neck, massaging even under his hair, making your way and disarranging his shirt in the process until you touched his warm and soft skin. Viktor's hand quickly went in search of his cane, when a shiver ran through him from head to toe with force, the emptiness in his lungs reminded him that he should breathe. But even with that wave of emotions, what he felt the most was the absence of your hands on him.
He quickly turned in his chair to look for you, his eyes traveling around the lab until he saw you near the entrance.
“No…” he muttered to himself as he grabbed his cane and let his shoulder rest on it, hurrying to get to you, but when he had you in front of him the words got stuck in his throat. “Are you leaving already?” he asked, it was the only thing his nervous mind had been able to formulate.
You turned back to face him, hiding something in the palm of your hand, a playful smile spread across your face as you shook your head. “No, I just came… to get something.”
“Oh…” he felt like an idiot, there was no lie that could justify him basically going after you like a lapdog. So he just stayed silent looking for something that would draw his attention more than the shame he felt and he found it, in your hands. “What are you trying to hide?” He asked at your poor attempt to hide what you were carrying in your hands. That helps him regain his composure and look you in the eyes again with confidence.
“It’s a secret” your tone is playful as you dodge him, close enough to smell his coffee and caramel aroma. Your movements are full of grace, even when you bring an extra chair to his desk and push his research away with a slight carelessness.
He can’t help but compare you to a dancing nymph, the air that sneaks through the open window and the bright moonlight support that idea in his head, he doesn’t even mind that some of his papers fly in the wind to his feet, he feels it as if they mark a path to you. Viktor doesn’t hesitate for a moment to return to his desk, shaking his head as a shy smile crosses his face, he can’t help it, it’s what you provoke in him.
He lets himself fall on the seat in front of you, your body shivers with the friction of the metal device on his leg against your knee, he seems to notice it and self-consciously takes a little distance, but you used your foot to work his chair into place before basically having him on the other side of the desk.
“Are you ready to try something really relaxing?” You ask excitedly.
Your gaze is unmistakably on him, finally, his mind screams excitedly and he hides it very well with a nervous movement of his good leg.
“What is that?” He asks finally, he's not good at enduring mysticism.
You open your hands with the same excitement as a circus tent opens to show an endless number of wonders. There's a yellow metal box with rainbow stickers and happy faces painted with marker. Inside there was a green mass and another brown compacted, a lighter, small filters and small papers.
You laughed a little at his attitude. “It's a relaxation method. You're going to like it. Well... maybe not, but you have to try it.”
Viktor massages his chin while he analyzes everything, he has that skeptical look full of curiosity again, you can see the nuts and bolts in his mind turning.
“It's weed.” you confess, his eyes widen and search your gaze quickly, his eyes reflecting surprise. “Oh come on Viktor, what is science if not experimenting with new things? It counts as research.” The tone in your voice is playful, as if you're amused by the situation.
“What effects does it have?” If there was one thing Viktor never dabbled in, it was drugs. Even with his illness, he never thought about trying them. Not because he didn't know about them, they just didn't spark his interest. "I didn't know you were on drugs..." he murmurs, feeling a little foolish, he didn't consider you to be close friends so it's not like you had to tell him about it. A thorn of jealousy stung him when a voice in the back of his mind mentioned that maybe Jayce did know that and many other things about you.
"I don't, it was... a recent purchase, I just know that they relax you and make you feel really good for a few hours." You sigh and rest your head on your outstretched arm on the desk. "Do you want to try it? I mean, we can try it together if you want..." you say as your hand plays with a pencil near you. You don't want to look him in the eyes, you fear meeting a stern look and a big reproach.
"Sure, why not." was his answer, simple and perhaps a little nervous.
“This is going to be fun.”
Viktor watches you carefully as you roll the joint, studying your every action. He watches your hands take the thin, almost translucent paper that shines a little under the moonlight, watching it spread between your fingers as you make sure the sticky side is facing up and out. He look at your hands, soft and the shiny rings on them, and only one thought escapes you.
“I’d like to feel them…”
“What?” you reply to such an unexpected comment.
“Nothing,” he quickly says. “I was rambling,” he tries to justify himself, and you seem to believe him for a second.
“Okay…” Your movements were nervous, caused by the intensity of his gaze, making you more and more nervous about being the center of his absolute attention this time. You delicately crumble the buds. The sticky texture of the resin tried to stick to your fingers, releasing an earthy aroma, you take a bit of tobacco and crumble it up and let it rest on the grass. You take a small little filter and place it on one end. With agile fingers you lift the paper and begin to shape it, making sure everything is well distributed, you roll the paper and Viktor’s soul seems to leave his body when he sees you licking the edge before sealing it with a clean movement. His thoughts are reflected on his face as a faint blush spreads across his cheeks and his Adam’s apple rises shakily.
You offer him the finished joint with a satisfied smile, you hoped you had done all the steps right. Viktor takes it delicately, as if he had just witnessed a sacred ritual.
“What exactly is in it?” he asks, hoping the answer will take his attention away from his own thoughts a little.
“Weed, tobacco, patience…and the desire to share” You joke as you take out the lighter and put everything in the box, before hiding it in one of the drawers of his desk.
Viktor plays with the joint in his hand for a while, examining it. “Should I put it in my mouth?” he asks as you nod softly.
“I’ll light it” you move your chair closer to him, just a few centimeters from each other, you take the lighter from the table and bring it close to his face, with the glow of the flame you can clearly see his blush and how straight he is in his seat “Relax, I’m not going to set you on fire.” you murmured with a soft laugh. He didn’t answer, he just brought his face closer to you, not to the flame of the lighter, your body paralyzed at such a reaction, it was you who brought the flame closer to him and gently lit the joint.
Viktor's first drag was a tragedy in itself, he coughed as if his soul was leaving them while his eyes were watery as if he was dying, he had inhaled it all at once and swallowed it, so it was like watching a chimney moan. You quickly went to his aid by taking the joint from him, taking him to the window to get some air and gently hitting his back to get the remaining humor out of his lungs. Even so, you couldn't help but laugh awkwardly, you tried to hide it so he wouldn't think you were laughing at him but then it was a thousand times more noticeable.
“This can't be healthy…” he mentioned, hitting his back against the wall next to the window.
“Not if you do it like that” you mentioned covering your laughter with your hand.
“Do you find it funny to see me dying in the smoke?”He asked, he didn't seem upset, he just had his arms crossed with a sarcastic attitude, letting his back fall against the wall in the arch of the window.
“No…” you muttered before stopping hiding your laughter and letting it out freely. He just smiled and looked out the window, he felt a little silly about everything that had happened but at least he made you laugh and that was something.
Viktor’s skin crawled as your hand suddenly cupped his cheek. “You have a tear,” you said, wiping the small droplet that rolled down his cheek with your thumb. His arms fell heavily to the sides of his body. Before he could react properly, he let himself enjoy the touch, your touch, the feeling of you coming into contact with his skin. Although it only lasted a few seconds, he could still feel your touch when you pulled away.
“I’ll do it first so you can see, okay?” you said. You took the joint between your fingers elegantly and put it between your lips. You inhaled and held it for a few seconds before letting it out slowly. The smoke fell from your mouth and the wind carried it to Viktor, enveloping it in a cloud of smoke before dissipating into the air.
You approached him with slow steps, taking one of his hands and leaving the joint between his fingers. “It’s your turn,” you said, raising his hand to his mouth, “remember, don’t swallow the smoke,” you said in a joking tone.
“Ha ha, funny.” He rolled his eyes and brought the joint to his lips this time. He took a deep drag and held it for a while, holding onto his cane to use his free hand for something.
You were on the lookout for everything, in case he choked on the smoke again.
“Exhale,” you rested your hand on his chest, the small jump his chest made when he felt your fingers against his clothes was clear to you. Smoke came out from between his thin lips like a waterfall, you left your hand against his chest until you felt him breathe again. “My turn,” you said, taking the joint and taking another drag.
Tumblr media
After a few puffs, Viktor is more relaxed and begins to notice things he wouldn't normally comment on. He looks at you with the curiosity of a small child.
“You know, you're surprisingly good at… this” he says as he holds the joint ready for another puff. “I thought only Jayce could convince me to do something stupid, but you seem more effective.”
You laughs, it's a rather polite comment coming from him. “Are you surprised? I have my methods.” You reply mischievously.
“Your methods…” he stares at you for a moment and mutters almost to himself. “They should be exclusive.”
As the joint gets smaller, the effect becomes much more noticeable. Viktor's eyes blink slowly and open like a deer's, his pupils almost completely obscuring the warm iris in his gaze. It doesn't take long for him to let out his first ramblings. By this point, they're both sitting on the floor, each in their own corner of the window with their legs outstretched.
“I like your eyes,” he blurts out of nowhere, clinging to his cane as if he were going to fall off if he doesn't. “It's fascinating. Like…like…like you're catching light in a jar.” He says with the sweetest smile you've ever seen. You're a bit stunned by his words, used to the reserved and serious Viktor, this is all a new air, you play along.
“Wow, was that a compliment? I should write it down for posterity,” you say, laughing. You've received compliments before, from people much more sober than Viktor is now, but it's different, that compliment hits differently, behind all the cool and carefree facade that comment manages to pierce your heart and leaves you sighing for that new side of Viktor. As if you discovered how hungry you were to receive something from him.
Viktor replied, with a smile that exuded confidence “You don’t need to write it down. I can tell you whenever you forget.”
You sighed “You’ll regret that so much when you’re sober…” you said. You didn’t want to take his words seriously, after all, believing someone on drugs was like believing someone drunk and that almost never went well. But it was advice that your own mind threw away right now.
While they were talking, Viktor, under the effects of the joint, began to think things that he normally wouldn’t say. “Why are you always so comfortable with Jayce?” he asks, letting his head fall against the wall, leaving his neck and collarbones bathed in light on display.
Confused, you arch an eyebrow “What? Jayce and I are friends, and he’s my boss, it would be terrible if I didn’t get along with him. Why are you asking?”
Viktor turns his gaze to you, you can feel a huge chill as you become his target, his hand playing with the cane at his side.
“You always laugh with him. You always flutter around him.” He says with a certain bitter tone that you can’t quite decipher. “It’s like he’s the only one who can make you laugh, the only one who deserves to enjoy you. I wish to have that.”
His answer surprises and intrigues you at the same time, you lean a little towards him wearing a mocking smile. The window isn’t very big, so it’s not like you’re far away anyway. “Are you jealous, Viktor?” The way you taste his name like honey runs through every nerve in his spine.
He’s clearly blushing, but he doesn’t back down, after all he has nothing to lose, if something goes wrong he’ll blame the drugs for everything.
“Maybe I am. What’s wrong with wanting your attention for me alone? Can't I want you?”
His words momentarily silence you, surprised by his sincerity. Something he takes advantage of to get closer to you, something you never thought he would do, he leans on his cane and before you know it your legs are trapped between his, and his free hand rests on your shoulder, caressing his way to your neck with his fingers. He looks so… surprisingly desperate, his breathing is irregular and his grip on his cane is weak. Having him so close makes the heat emanating from his body combine with yours, your heart is racing to have him so close and you have to use all your will not to do something stupid.
“It’s frustrating, you know? Seeing how you have such a good time with him and then you’re just silent with me… Don’t I deserve your laughter? Don’t I deserve your company?” You don't know how it hurts to want you, to want your smile, to want your gaze only on me, to want your touch desperately and see how you give it to someone else..." A gasp escapes his face and his body collapses, falling on your hip making you gasp in shock, everything is a mess "Want me, just want me."
"Viktor... You're... you're drugged... You're not seeing clearly." Your heart officially stops, his weight is against you, you can't and don't want to move. Each of his words ignites something inside you that could devour everything in its path.
He laughs, maybe because of nerves, maybe because of the effect of the grass or the tingling that your hands leave behind on his body, but he just laughs "I see enough to not want to share you with anyone else."
His gaze, normally focused and distant, now burned with something that seemed uncontrollable. There was tension in the air, a pent-up hunger that exploded the moment your arms wrapped around his neck.
He didn't wait any longer. With a quick, determined movement, he pulled you close, his cane clattering against the floor as he forgot about everything but you. His lips met yours with an almost brutal force, colliding with the intensity of lightning in the middle of a storm.
The first kiss was a chaos of urgency. Your mouths sought each other out like there was no tomorrow, lips parted, deep gasps escaping between each encounter. Viktor pushed you against the wall, his heavy, ragged breathing echoing in your ears. His hands, normally careful, were now hungry, desperate. One moved up your waist, running down your back under the fabric of your clothes, while the other leaned against the wall, locking you against his body.
You let yourself go completely, your fingers burying themselves in Viktor’s brown, tousled hair. His lips moved in a chaotic rhythm, alternating between wet kisses, bites on your lower lip, and that feverish exploration of your tongues that lit up your entire body. The soft sound of your mouths colliding and your panting filled the air, accompanied by your hands that now ran over his chest, his abdomen, without stopping.
When Viktor broke the kiss, it wasn’t to break away, but to drag his lips down your jaw, down to your neck. There, he left a series of wet, almost wild kisses, lightly sucking on the skin with a wet sound that drew a moan from your throat.
“You are...” he murmured against your neck, his voice raspy, broken, “incredible. I don’t want to stop.”
His words felt like caresses, so charged with emotion that your body trembled under his touch. Viktor's hands now slid down your waist, slowly moving up, exploring it with a reverence laden with desire. Each touch was a reminder of how much pent-up passion this man so accustomed to solitude harbored for you.
"Viktor..." you gasped against his neck, but he took your mouth again, cutting you off with another fierce kiss.
The sound of rustling clothes, of uneven breathing, and Viktor's soft grunts as he lost himself in you filled the room. His body was completely pressed against yours, and every movement of his seemed to be aimed at etching his presence into you, as if he feared it could all fade away at any moment.
When they finally broke apart, their lips were swollen, and their chests rose and fell rapidly. Viktor's eyes, normally filled with logic and calculation, were now deep pools of desire and devotion, reflecting every emotion he couldn't put into words.
“This isn’t enough,” he confessed, his voice shaking slightly as he looked at you as if you were the only important thing in the world. “It will never be enough with you.”
Your breathing was still ragged, the air between you filled with an almost palpable heat. Viktor kept his forehead resting against yours, his eyes closed, while his hand remained firmly on your waist, as if letting go was unthinkable.
“This is dangerous...” Viktor murmured, although the tremble in his voice made it clear that the idea of stopping was an almost impossible challenge. His fingers continued to absentmindedly trace the curve of your back, as if his body refused to break contact.
“More dangerous than what you do with Hextech?” you replied in a whisper, sketching a slight smile, trying to lighten the tension of the moment.
Viktor’s response was caught in his throat when you both suddenly heard the echo of footsteps in the hallway. You both tensed instantly, your bodies rigid as if someone had thrown a bucket of ice water over both of you. Realizing for the first time that dawn had already arrived and the sun was rising lazily on the horizon, the weed turned the hours into moments.
“Viktor, are you there?” Jayce’s deep, confident voice echoed just outside the door.
Viktor’s eyes snapped open, his pupils still dilated from the intensity of the moment. He cursed under his breath as he grabbed his cane from the floor, gesturing quickly towards the work table. You understood what he meant.
With your heart about to explode, you helped him stand up and hurried to adjust your clothes and move away from him, although your legs were shaking slightly from the heat still burning in your body. You pretended as best you could that nothing had happened, he walked over to his desk and you grabbed some papers from the floor.
The door opened barely a second later, not giving you time to fully regain your composure. Jayce walked in with his usual relaxed attitude, but his gaze narrowed instantly as he noticed the strange atmosphere that filled the room.
“Am I interrupting something…didn’t you go home Y/N?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, looking first at Viktor and then at you, lingering a second longer than necessary on your slightly swollen lips.
Viktor, always quick to react, stood up with his cane and pointed at a pile of papers scattered on his table.
“Nothing at all,” he said in his usual tone, though the slight blush on his cheeks betrayed his feigned calm. “We were just going over some calculations and cleaning up your mess.”
Jayce narrowed his eyes, clearly suspicious. He took in Viktor’s messy locks, the flushed cheeks on your face, and that palpable tension floating between the two of you.
“Going over calculations?” he repeated slowly, letting the phrase hang in the air with a mocking tone as he crossed his arms. “Because it seems that something else happened here.”
You forced a nervous smile as you began to organize the papers on the table, pretending the comment was outlandish. “Oh, come on Jayce, what could possibly happen here?” Your heart was still beating like a drum in your ears. Viktor, for his part, adjusted his posture and gave Jayce a sharp look, full of exasperation.
“If you have something important to say, do it quickly. We’re busy.” Viktor’s voice was sharp, as if he were trying to firmly divert attention.
Jayce tilted a smile, clearly amused by his friend’s reaction, but raised his hands in surrender.
“Relax, it’s nothing urgent. I just wanted to ask you something, but I can go get coffee while you finish. I don’t want to… interrupt your calculations.”
The emphasis on the last word followed him to the door, where he gave one last suspicious look before disappearing down the hall.
When the door finally closed, the silence in the room was deafening. You let out a nervous laugh, bringing your hand to your mouth, while Viktor let out a long sigh and let himself lean back against the table, holding himself up with one hand.
“This can’t happen again,” he murmured, though his eyes, still fixed on you, burned with an unmistakable desire that contradicted every word. “I don’t know how you make my brain feel so… scattered and focused at the same time.”
You smile and he replies mischievously as you drop your forehead on his shoulder, your breath brushing his neck. “It’s my secret talent.”
Viktor watches you for a moment and adds softly, “Then, save it for me.”
“Viktor, I think you’re too high to give romantic speeches.” You laugh softly and give him a small pinch on the arm.
“Maybe… but I’m not so high that I don’t know I want more than what’s happened tonight.” His arms wrap around your waist in a hug. His chest heaves with a small laugh. “Shall we have breakfast at my house?”
The answer is more than clear.

Even though the shared sounds of passion had died down, they were now replaced with your louder insecurities, forcing you to curl away from the man and head to the bathroom to clean up.
Hugh frowned as the door slammed shut with a little more force than usual. Concerned, he knocked on it asking if you were okay.
“Uh, yeah. Fine.” You responded, blinking back tears that began rapidly gathering. Your inner thoughts screamed you didn’t deserve all of this.
“Mind if I join you for a quick shower, darling?” Hugh called again after hearing the water running. Something you had a habit of doing every time you were overwhelmed with emotions.
“Actually I’m going to be right out. You know I have the—the thing early morning.”
Cursing yourself to have to lie, you scrubbed your body forcefully, glad the tears streamed down with the hot water and your shaky voice was somewhat covered.
As you stepped out of the bathroom, you were met with a concerned Hugh, arms crossed over his chest.
“Are you okay? Did I do something wrong?”
“No! Why would you think that?” You faked a laugh, going around him to get dressed for bed. Knowing fully well you weren’t fooling your boyfriend.
“Because you’re avoiding me.”
Giving him your most reassuring smile that you could muster, you shook your head as you slipped into one of his well worn t-shirts, getting onto your side of the bed.
“No it’s just, I have to wake up early tomorrow and I wanted to get a quick shower in. I’m fine. Really.”
He was silent for a while as he joined you in bed, watching you fluff the pillows before you turned away from the man to switch off the bedside lamp.
“You can tell that to someone who believes your lies, darling. Tell me what’s wrong. Please?” He tried again, switching the lamp back on and reaching out for your hand.
“Would you just drop it, Hugh?” You snapped, hating yourself for it as you turned the lights out again, pulling the blanket over and hiding yourself in its fluffy depths, hoping it would somehow cover your imperfections.
Your mind was still flooded with all sorts of thoughts about the way you looked, and how any day your little daydream would end and Hugh would realise what a mistake dating you was.
What was he even with you? You were far from perfect. You had curves that no matter what you did wouldn’t go away. You got trapped in your own head quite a bit, you were moody, and ten thousand other things that would push you away from the ‘ideal girlfriend’ title.
You lived in constant fear that he’d wake up one day and decide he was done with you. Then what would you ever do?
.
The next morning you woke up before Hugh did and went for a run, hoping it would clear your head.
It worked until you got a few heads turning in your direction, it wasn’t uncommon considering who you were dating; it was still overwhelming sometimes. You heard giggles and judgemental scoffs, possibly they were commenting on the way you looked.
It made you want to disappear. A sense of your deepest fears winning made you rush home, discard your jacket and ready to retreat into your room for the rest of the day. That was until your eyes fell on the breakfast spread that lay waiting on the table to your right.
“Morning sunshine! I thought I’d whip up your favourite breakfast today since you—hey, what’s wrong?”
You didn’t realise you had teared up again until Hugh rushed to your side with worry.
“Why are you with me?”
“What do you mean?” He frowned.
“I mean why are you with me? I don’t deserve any of this. You could be with anyone you want, I don’t understand why—”
He stepped in your line of vision, silencing your little ramble before gently wiping your tears away and leading you to sit on an armchair.
Wordlessly holding your hand against his chest, he took a deep breath in, gently coaxing you to follow. When you did, you could feel your erratic breaths returning to a normal slowly but surely. Just his presence on difficult days like these was calming.
“Talk to me?” he nudged, hands still clasped reassuringly.
“I just feel like you could do so much better than this…than me. You’re so—I mean, I am—”
Struggling to complete the sentence, you couldn’t help the crack in your voice as you avoided his gaze, shifting nervously on the chair.
“Beautiful? Kind? The best thing to have happened to me?” Hugh tilted your face to meet your eyes again, his own shining with all the love and adoration reserved just for you.
You wanted to believe him, so badly, yet the voices in your head got loud enough to make you doubt every single thing.
“I won’t allow you to talk much less think such lies about my amazing girlfriend, you know. She’s lucky her boyfriend immensely enjoys demonstrating just how much she means to him.”
You smiled at that, much to Hugh's relief, shaking your head.
"If you'll allow me to show you, my love."
With that he picked you up, leaving no room for any further protests from your side. Kicking the bedroom door shut with his foot, his lips descending onto yours in a kiss that effectively quieted down your fears and filled you with a renewed sense of assurance.
As the kiss deepened, your anxieties melted away, giving way for all the love that you held for this man, who by a miracle from the universe, was all yours. When you eventually broke the kiss after what felt like hours, he continued demonstrating all that he'd promised, making sure to whisper words that held such honesty, you wholeheartedly believed them.
This was nothing like you'd ever experienced before. This was more than just sex, it was worshiping, cherishing and much more. He held you close, accepting every curve, every scar, every last freckle as his own, showering you with all his love. You hadn't felt so loved, so respected, so seen, ever before in your life.
When you were filled to the hilt with his manhood, a moan that you trying so hard to suppress, escaped. Quickly covered your mouth with a hand, you quieted down, embarrassed.
"Don't be shy baby, I love the way you moan my name."
"I'm afraid I'm too loud." you whispered.
Hugh tutted, interlacing your fingers and firmly locking your hands over your head, securing them in their rightful place as he began moving in your sopping heat.
"Not loud enough. Let 'em hear. Let 'em hear who's making you feel good, sweetheart."
Hot and breathy against your ear, his honeyed voice was enough to turn your insides to mush, encouraging you to not hold back anymore.
Soon, the walls of the house echoed with your shared sounds of passion, the intensity of them evident as you reached your highs together. Bodies trembling with wanton need as you drew the most sinful moans out of each other, fully alive in the moment.
As your climax crashed over you, it seemed to wash away any lingering negativity and uncertainty you had previously felt, making you sure of your dreams being actualized.

“what do you think makes a star, a star?”
elio asked you that question decades ago. and only now have you arrived at one final answer. out of curiosity, you asked each hunter the same question over the years that have passed, each of them giving one answer that didn’t quite match the rest.
“to be the top player of course!” silver wolf exclaimed, her tone in a matter of fact manner as she didn’t even look up from her console. you only shook your head in amusement, jotting her answer down in a new journal your boss had given you as a present.
“a star you ask,” kafka tilted her head curiously at you. eyes freed from her usual contacts and makeup followed your movement as you stirred the coffee in your cup. “well, a star for me would be something that captures the attention of others without much effort. stars often piqued your interest, didn’t they?” you only smiled in response and nodded. you made a mental note to write it down later before you went to bed.
firefly took a little longer than the last two to answer. you patiently waited, spooning pieces of cake to your lips as the girl in front of you was deep in thought. “a guide. even in your darkest moment, a star will shine as a guide for you to follow so you don’t stray from your path.” she answered in a whisper. eyes wistful as she played with the dessert on her plate.
“a star,” blade’s gruff voice cut through the night like a knife. a few bottles of local xianzhou wine separating you two as you sat on the roof overlooking the stars above. you hadn’t expected blade of all people to humor your questions, but here you were, grateful in his presence. “it means to burn. so brightly you are unrecognizable, to others and yourself.”
“you have a sad answer,” you mutter, taking a sip of the wine from the small cup as the man huffs.
“time takes a heavy toll for both you and i,” the wind sways his hair in a deathly dance. he brings his cup to his lips and drinks in one go. you don’t mention how you can barely finish a cup with how strong the drink was—blade could not feel the pain of it in his throat, and he never will. “you’ve already burned through the remains of your past self. it won’t be long before you look in the mirror and be unable to recognize your reflection.”
you frown at his response. “you’re pessimistic.”
“and you’re hypocritical.”
you have no rebuttal to his accusation, after all, at the very core of your character, the word “hypocrite” hangs like a thorny crown.
“tell me, starcatcher,” red eyes reflected the conflict you’ve been massing deep within the columns of your bones. they crash onto your being like how the oceans do to the shores—unrelenting and loud. “are you that afraid of losing another that you love them as if tomorrow they’ll die?”
you fled the roof that night. unable to face your hopelessness head on after a fresh wound of death lingers by your heart. another attempt, another reminder of the welling darkness that swells from the tip of your fingers and slowly corrupts your entire body. it drowns you and you can’t help but fear that time is clutching your shoulder, weighing you down to the ocean floor as it laughs at your predicament.
“so it’s decided then.”
but that’s no longer the case. no, not anymore. it's been decades since then, and you’ve changed.
elio sits by his office chair, typewriter moved to the side as he personally penned the final bits of your songbird’s script. you were elio’s editor and proofreader. you don’t exactly remember when it started but when you were still an unwilling understudy—an actor who refused to acknowledge the stage—he would trap you in his office and force you to read over his script to make sure there were no errors.
a small and sad smile tugged at your lips as you read the pages of inked fate. “this is for the best.”
“the best, yes,” elio ceases his writing. compiling the papers into one bulk and staring right at you. “but it's not the ending you wanted.”
you shook your head, “my preferred ending isn’t relevant to how the story ends. it’s not my story to tell.”
“yes, but it's a story you’re meant to read,” there was pity in his eyes. your heart felt too heavy with realization to even feel offended by such a look. “you have the right to feel dissatisfied.”
“thank you, elio, truly,” you only gave destiny’s slave one final smile before standing. you quietly made your way to the door, forcing your steps to sound quiet and lacking sadness. but you can’t do that, you never will. building up walls will only prove to be a waste of effort. not when elio knows every brick by heart.
with a heavy sigh, you linger by the office door before making your way to your workshop. memories from years ago flood your mind as the halls fill your senses. photos from vacation, missions, and simple outings hang by the walls while certain trinkets and relics from bygone travels litter the many desks and drawers. time did take a heavy toll just like blade said. kafka’s skin started to wrinkle a bit, silver wolf started growing taller, firefly grew paler and paler, and blade looked more like death with every breath he took.
time was a painful thing to remember—it’s not infinite. and even if it was, it's never always kind to everyone. and you? you are worse than time and death itself. you were the inevitable–finality.
“good morning, [name].”
a voice from behind greets you like a new sunrise–a reminder that a new day is here. you couldn’t help the smile that tugged on your lips. seeing sunday in blade’s shirt hang over his body like a blanket, firefly’s hair ties on his wrists and a spare console from silver wolf in one hand brings you so much joy.
“sunday, good morning!” you sounded breathless. tucking both hands behind your back to hide your shaking as he joined you on your way to the workshop he’s made as his makeshift nest.
sunday smiles—filled with all the hope you’ve craved and lost. it stings your heart like a needle but you don’t show it. you’re first to look away, like all the other times in his presence, unable to face the way his wings flutter and smile twitch in concern.
when you reach the workshop, you flicker the lights on and sunday makes himself at home. sitting by the windowsill as you sat down by your table. scattered fabrics for sunday’s final mission lay in your hands, and you’d be damned if you messed up now. even with a heavy heart, you willed your hands to work, all the while ignoring the concerned stare of the angel sunbathing by the window.
the two of you spend the first few hours of morning in each other’s quiet presence before your tongue itches to ask him a question. “sunday,” you call his name and you curse the flutter in your chest when he immediately looks at you. he noticed his overly quick response and covered half of his face with a fist, pretending to hide a cough instead of his coloring cheeks.
“yes?” he asks, attention solely on you as you pin the needle back on the cushion and smooth out any creases.
“what does it mean to be a star?”
he blinked owlishly at your question. a soft hum escaped his lips as his fingers tapped on the rim of his cup in contemplation. “is there…” he tests the waters—seeing if it's too hot or too cold. “any particular occasion for you to ask me a question?”
you shake your head in amusement when his more formal tone slips out. “no, not at all. just a little tradition is all.”
“well, then,” the words die out on his tongue. every once in a while, sunday would peer at you like a lost child but you’d only nod encouragingly. “a star means to be remembered.” he looked out the window, watching the clouds pass by in a blur. “even if they aren’t always there, you know they exist.”
sometimes you wonder if it's possible for sunday to look at himself through the lens of your eyes. he was beautiful like the praise of idrila, happiness like aha’s laughter, and the curiosity for adventure like akivili. sunday wasn’t just a star, he was the entire universe. and he remained blissfully unaware of it.
“[name], is everything all right?”
you’re snapped out of your daze when you feel his hand on your cheek. lost in the replays of sunday’s image in your mind, you didn’t notice the stray tears that had betrayed your image of an unbothered editor.
“please, don’t cry,” he whispers, pressing your foreheads together. his thumb gently wiping away the tears that escaped your eyes. you can’t help but chuckle. sunday truly was like a sponge when it comes to others’ habits.
“what hurts you so?”
“what makes you think i’m hurt?” quite frankly, you were hurt. so incredibly hurt by his eventual departure but your heart knows his stay was only temporary. but that didn’t mean you never hoped.
hoped. over the course of a few years, sunday had succeeded in the mission the other hunters failed at. he made you hope again.
“kafka is cooking everyone’s breakfast. it’ll surely brighten up your mood.” he states taking your hand in his and tugging you in the direction of the dining room and kitchen. sunday maneuvered through the headquarters with such ease your ribs began to clamp on your heart again.
this was his home, his respite. but only for a short time.
when the two of you enter the room, you notice his frown. the emotions of everyone were palpable—it felt suffocating. your eyes met blade and you just smiled. one deep breath in and you snapped back into your joyous self. bringing temporary light to the room.
even as you ate and chatted, there were undertones of sadness. sunday nudged your side and quietly asked you, “are you quite sure everything is alright? everyone seems sad today.”
you look at them one by one. kafka’s eyes are slowly being accompanied by eye bags and wrinkles, silver wolf is nearing blade’s shoulder, firefly looks paler, and blade’s hand shakes as he holds his chopsticks. you look at sunday’s eyes, and smile. even he was a victim of time with the way his hair grew longer and face filled with more life.
“they’re just worried,” you look away first like always. meeting blade’s gaze halfway and smiling to yourself when you see him huff in denial. “your next mission is here.”
what does it mean to be a star? elio asked you that question a long, long time ago. and you only found the answer in the form of an angel with wings behind his ears and eyes that shined like the sun. the star you’ve grown to love burns brighter than the sun but still requires rest when night falls.
to be a star means to be remembered, even in the face of departure. you remain bright and unforgotten. left in the care of a conductor and an express you’ve once loved.
to be a star means to face the inevitable that sunday was meant for greater things than being just a fugitive venturing the universe.

HABITS TO DROP WHEN GETTING YOUR LIFE TOGETHER
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
➝ CREATING UNAUTHENTIC & UNINTENTIONAL GOALS
the biggest mistakes you can make when creating goals is making goals that aren’t true to you and making goals for the sake of making goals.
it can be so exciting when you decide to get your life together. I mean, of course it is! there are so many possibilities! but when you start planning, don’t just write down the goals you see circulating on social media. what works for someone else may not be what works for you. don’t make your goals and habits based on what’s trending or popular in the self improvement community.
think about what you actually need for a minute. what is actually necessary? your goals and habits aren’t here to be glamorous, they’re here to help regardless of how simple or small they are. the point of thinking up new habits is to improve your life, so be intentional with your goals. what will practicing this habit or achieving this goal give you?
when you’re first starting out, your goals don’t have to be anything too crazy or intense. for example, let’s say you want to become a pink pilates girl and get into fitness. you shouldn’t jump right into it and say your goal is to work out for 2 hours 5 times a week. let’s consider some factors first. have you been living a completely sedentary kind of lifestyle? then try looking for exercises that’ll wake up dormant muscles. your goal should then be to repeat those exercises for how ever many times a week. then you’ll work your way up from there. (it’s important we don’t harm the body, so be mindful with your fitness goals.) what about your schedule? how much time can you actually give to working out? can your body even endure working out for that long?
anyways, hopefully you see what I mean. when creating goals, it’s not about having the “aesthetic” habits and goals that you may see on tiktok or tumblr. it’s about doing what is actually good for you and what’ll help you the most with where you are now in your journey. so please put some thought into your goals and where they’ll take you. creating unauthentic and unintentional habits will also mean you’ll be less likely to keep practicing them after a few times. at the end of the day, that doesn’t help you achieve anything and you’re left with a broken promise you’ve made to yourself. which leads me to my next point…
➝ NOT KEEPING YOUR WORD WHEN IT COMES TO YOU
let me start off by saying this— if you don’t even listen to yourself, why should anyone else? (harsh, ik)
a HUGE reason as to why people have no self confidence is because they don’t listen to themselves or keep the promises they’ve made to themselves. if you have no self trust, how could you have any self confidence?
now, building discipline can definitely be a challenge so if you want to start somewhere easy, nip your false promises in the bud and stop yourself from making them. that’s what I did when I was first trying to stop this habit. when my addiction to tiktok was at its peak I would always tell myself the usual “ten more minutes and then I’ll stop scrolling.” when I wanted to stop making false promises, I knew I had no control or discipline so the only thing I could do is be real with myself. I’d cut myself off when I heard myself say “five more minutes” because I knew it wasn’t going to happen. if I wasn’t going to quit my bad habit, then the least I could do is be honest with myself.
the things that you are constantly telling yourself, whether they’re mindless or intentional, matter.
so, stop telling yourself seemingly harmless lies. unnecessary false promises that you know are false will only fill you with tension.
➝ SEEING FAILURE AS AN INVITATION TO GIVE UP
this applies to so many things.
you wanted to be consistent with your reading goals but haven’t read a chapter in a week? dont give up. don’t tell yourself that being consistent is too hard for you, that since you missed a week this habit isn’t for you. make your goal a bit easier or give yourself another chance.
you wanted to spend more time doing art but it’s not turning out how you expected? dont give up. dont give yourself the title of a “bad artist” and never pick up a pencil again. move forward, give yourself another chance.
you wanted to quit your Instagram addiction but after a couple days you went back to scrolling for hours on ig reels? Don’t give up. dont tell yourself that this addiction isn’t gonna go away, don’t go back to the bad habit because you slipped up. give yourself another chance.
I think a lot of us (myself included) tend to give up at the first sign of failure, instead of reminding ourselves to keep going. it’d be wonderful if you could get it right on the first try. if you could read ten books a month right away after not reading a book in three years. if you could watch hours worth of tutorials and sketch the perfect portrait on the first attempt. if you could uninstall instagram for good and never feel the urge to go back. that would all be so amazing, but it’s not always the reality. expect the best from yourself and do the best you can, but also give yourself some compassion. keep in mind that you won’t always do things perfectly right away and that’s one thousand percent okay. when you feel yourself slipping up on your brand new goal, don’t end it there at the first failure. allow yourself to move forward, because the only other direction to move is backwards.

I’m about halfway through season three, and I’d just like to take a moment and look at how losing Rose has changed the Doctor.
First the obvious things: he’s more serious. During his time with Rose, he was mostly cheerful, funny, and generally quite positive. There were a few darker moments, but for the most part he had a pretty sunny personality, especially when he was with Rose. In season three, while he still tries to maintain his happy personality, he occasionally slips into melancholy and his cheerfulness often feels like a bit of a facade. This isn’t to say that there aren’t moments when he’s genuinely happy, but they seem to be far less frequent than the durst two seasons. He smiles less. He doesn’t have as many quips. He’s barely laughed at all. But that’s to be expected. He just lost someone he loved; it makes sense for him to be more withdrawn and sad.
The thing that struck me the most was how reckless he’s become. He’s always been a bit reckless, but he’s also tried to avoid things that will most likely kill him. He might be constantly getting himself into very dangerous situations, but he (almost) always thinks of some way to not die. (I think it’s because he knows that if he dies the Time Lords die with him, but that’s a different post.) In season three, he’s practically suicidal. So far, he’s allowed himself to come dangerously close to death at least five times, some seemingly without expecting to survive.
First was in episode one, when he let the Plasmavore drink his blood so she wouldn’t register as human on the scanner. He had no companion at the time, so he couldn’t have expected anyone to come for him. Even if someone had found him, they would have needed to do a blood transfusion, and since he’s not human it’s unlikely that human blood would save him. (I’m actually not sure how he survived that. Martha gave him CPR, but that didn’t fix the blood loss issue.) Even knowing all of that, he still allowed the Plasmavore to drain his blood without hesitation. He technically could have regenerated, but that didn’t seem to be part of his plan. I’m still not quite sure how regeneration works, but I’m pretty sure he has to be conscious for it to happen, and he was definitely unconscious when Martha found him.
The second time was when the Carrionite did he voodoo doll thing. This is admittedly a weaker example, since he does have two hearts, but I’m not entirely convince that he knew he’s be able to restart his other heart. He can clearly survive with just one heart (at least for a little bit,) but it significantly weakened him and it’s unclear how long he would have survived it. Had he been unable to get both hearts working, he probably would have died later when his remaining heart gave out under the strain, or been finished off later by the Carrionites and unable to defend himself. And yet he seems remarkably unconcerned, even when he realizes what she going to do. This isn’t to say that he wasn’t worried, but maybe not as worried as he should have been.
Third is when he willingly offers himself up to the Daleks, fully expecting them to kill him. This is one of the best examples, because he is 100% convinced that they are going to kill him. He’s so convinced that it actually comes as a shock when they decide not to kill him on the spot. Sacrificing himself makes sense in this situation, but it was a bit shocking how fast he agreed. I had expected to frantically try to come up with a plan, or at least to try fighting, before he decided to sacrifice himself. I certainly hadn’t expected him to straight up tell them to kill him.
Fourth was when he put himself in the direct path of a lightning strike/gamma ray burst on the off chance that some of his DNA would get transferred. Again this is an excellent example because not only did he put himself in its path, he actually held onto a lightning rod and wouldn’t let go for the duration of the gamma ray burst. There’s also the small fact that said lightning rod was on the top of the Empire State Building, and if the lighting and radiation hadn’t killed him a fall probably could’ve. That is literally the definition of suicidal.
The fifth and (so far) final time was when he, once again, sacrificed himself to the Daleks and demanded they kill him. Yes he knew that the Dalek-humans had some Time Lord DNA in them, but he still couldn’t be sure it would be enough. If you still don’t believe that he’s suicidal, I think seeing him stand in a room full of people with lasers/guns and telling them all to kill him should convince you. If even that doesn’t work, then you should consider the fact that the last three all happen in the same episode.
Let it never be said that losing Rose didn’t affect the Doctor.

Hey guys, I've been seeing another rift going on in the fandom regarding TGG and TIG characters, so I've decided to make a statement that can hopefully make things more cohesive.
I understand that not everyone likes the new spin-off and honestly, I'm considering just stopping after GU. Personally, I don't have anything against the characters of TGG but my problem is that they sound too much like our old mains. However, that's not their fault. It's the author's. There's nothing wrong with JLB wanting to expand the TIG universe but it is problematic when you are repeating the same character arcs of the old characters that are also present and interacting with these new mains. The problem that we face is the fact while even in The Naturals there are similar characters, they are divided by different series. However, that is not going on here with TIG and TGG. TGG is a continuation of TIG and our TIG characters are still present. Heck, one of our old mains is a player and a love interest here to one of the new mains. And therein lies the issue. When you have a connected series, it's important to have distinguished characters with different voices, not carbon copies.
What I expected for TGG characters was that she would move from the character tropes we've seen already in the series and come up with new ones. I mean, come on, she's a psychology major, we bring that up so often but what's the point when she keeps going in circles and never brings up anything new? I pointed a lot of this out pre-read because I already correctly guessed where this was going within just a few pages of reveal. Don't get me wrong, if she wanted to, she could do it but it doesn't feel like she has new plans or plots. Be honest with yourselves and don't just praise because she's your favorite author. You can be a reader, a fan, and a respectful critic all at the same time. Don't lower your expectations just because they can't deliver every time.
The trouble is that when you go back to TFG, in the acknowledgments, she herself wrote she wasn't sure there was going to be a third book. And now look, suddenly two books were announced a month or two after she released the last book of the trilogy which introduced our mains and not the most fashionably. I do believe she had ideas but I don't think they were the best fleshed out. You have to realize that just reading TGG, how many of you recognized the obvious plots, the romantic subplots, the character arcs, and even the semi-hidden plots just getting to the halfway point? And how many of you said, hey, wait a minute, we've had this plotline before? You did, didn't you? I want to give Jennifer the benefit of the doubt but I truly think she is in over her head because I don't believe she quite thought that this is how long the series would go.
In fact, I think that she is making more trouble for herself in trying multi POV for this new series when really I think it should have just been Gray taking over. It would have allowed us to see how he's grown especially after the heartache and mental health issues he's had to go through to get here. It felt like the obvious next step, even the summary for TGG made it sound like that. However, the only thing that seems new to me is the hypersexual atmosphere which also makes no sense to me because teens may go through attraction but that doesn't mean they're horny all the time and anyone who's gone through puberty can attest to that. So I ask again, like one reviewer on Goodreads put, were the romantic moments in the room with us? 12 hours is not love or romance, it's lust, that's it. Couldn't summarize it clearer. If she wanted to make it better, it could have been that she made the book stretch over a series of weeks which is why I wonder what the heck will happen to any character development if this book series is done in like 3 days?
As I said, a lot of things feel very repetitive, the plot, word choice, thought processes, quotes and sayings, etc. We are in a loop. She's in a loop. I think that the best thing JLB could have done is leave TIG alone for a few years after TFG, make a new series or whatever works outside this series she wanted to, give herself time to truly see if she has new stories to tell for TIG by writing a spin-off and then come back to give us that content. Because it's really telling how forced things have been in the last two books, even here with GU and I really think this empire is toppling. As they say, quality over quantity and thoughtful than full of thoughts that are just a variation of one another. That's what makes me think more and more she should have left it at TFG.
Thank you for reading and I hope this gives a new perspective that can help you see some things more clearly.

Sofia helped Liliana carry the big sign to the front. It wasn’t too heavy but she wanted to help regardless. Once they set it down, they smiled at the sign.
The sign read:
That’s that me espresso
“Cute.” Sofia comments, Liliana turns her head towards Sofia and grins brightly.
“Thank you, thank you.” Liliana fake bows, “Thank you Sabrina Carpenter for the song espresso.” A disheveled Hector comes running out the coffee shop. He’s out of breath but manages a smile on his face.
“I need you guys to try the tiramisu cake slices I just made. I think I’m going to send people to heaven and back.” Hector excitedly says, Sofia and Liliana make it back inside.
On the counter waits two perfectly made tiramisu cakes. They approach the counter. They were used to Hector bringing in pastries when he worked with them at the country club. So they knew how much of an amazing baker he was. But when they sank their teeth in this cake. It felt like colors exploded. Like the world became much brighter.
"Did you put drugs in this?" Liliana asks, her eyes blown as she continues to scarf down the cake. It was half way gone.
"Christ, who do you think I am?" Hector says incredulously. Sofia let out a laugh. She hadn't spoken to blown away by the tiramisu cake to speak.
"This is amazing, Hector. You weren't wrong about heaven and back." Sofia says. Hector beams at her, standing proudly.
"Te lo dije!" Liliana is cheering as she says this. Sofia finishes the tiramisu cake. She wants to lick the plate; but refuses to do it in front of them.
"Oh, business is definitely going to be blooming after this. I will take my praise now, thank you." Hector says, smiling brightly.
"Don't push it, Hector." Sofia says, Hector frowns jokingly. Then returns to the back, probably to make more cakes.
"Told you, helped him discover his dreams." Liliana points out. Sofia shakes her head.
“Your mind.” Sofia says. She goes to the back, thinking about taking another one of Hector’s cakes.

Rafe decides to do the first thing he can think of. Trying to see if he can find Sofia at the country club. When he arrives, his heart sinks. She is no where to be found. A part of him feels guilty. He'd been the one to tell her to quit. That he'll provide for her now. No more pogue shit.
She probably lost her job for good. He walks to a random worker. He sees the brunette pouring a kook a drink.
"Hey, is uh Sofia working here?" He asks her, the girl scrunches up her nose. Then her eyes widen, does she know him?
"No, Sof-Sofia doesn't work here anymore." The girl says, Rafe frowns visibly. Shock can't begin to describe how she feels.
"D-did she ever try to get her job back?" Rafe asks, the girls face hardens.
“And why do you care? Do you know her or something?” The girl says angrily, Rafe tries to keep his emotions in check. He doesn’t know why she’s being rude. He sneers at her.
“She’s my fiancé.” He blinks a couple of times. “My ex fiancé.” He mumbles.
“She doesn’t work here anymore. Scram.”The girl says angrily. Rafe’s jaw ticks, he doesn’t like the way the girl talks to him. Rafe tries to compose himself. Trying to not get too angry.
“Okay, fine.” He begins to walk away but turns back. “What’s your name by the way. I think I’ll need to talk to your manager about your attitude.”
The girl rolls her eyes but gives him her name. “It’s Catalina.”
With that, Rafe huffs and walks away. Vaguely feeling like that name was familiar.
Tumblr media
After a few more days, the coffee shop was finally open. They had a lot more customers than anticipated. But they managed rather smoothly. Liliana hired two college students and one high school student. Sofia typically running the register as she did when she was in the country club. It was nice, it was busy enough for her to keep her mind off of things. Especially off of Rafe. And the fact that he was back from Morocco.
“Welcome to Cozy Corner Brews. What can I get you today?” Sofia says brightly, Sarah looks at Sofia in shock. Sofias face remains the same, but internally she’s shocked as well.
“Hey Sofia.” Sarah says awkwardly, her eyes scanning Sofia. Her eyes falling on her apron. Then back up again.
“Uh hi, hi Sarah.” Sofia says, she taps anxiously on the counter. She isn’t sure what else to say. She waits until Sarah orders something to drink or eat.
“I didn't know you worked here." Sarah says, still eyeing Sofia. Sofia nods her head, she presses her lips together.
"Uh yeah, it's my best friends shop." Sofia taps her fingers gently on the counter. "Can I get you anything to drink? Anything to eat, we have a bunch of pastries."
"Uh, yeah yeah. Can I just get a tiramisu cake?" Sarah asks, she rubs her belly as she asks. Sofia is shocked to see that Sarah is visibly pregnant. Sarah notices and smiles.
"I'm five months. It was a shock to me too." Sarah says, she looks down at her stomach and smiles. "But I'm happy, I get to have this baby with John B. I couldn't be happier."
Sofia goes into the display to grab one of the tiramisu cakes. She looks around to see a couple of people reading as they drink their food. Others are on laptops, a few with neither just enjoying a cake or coffee drink.
Sofia can't help to feel a wave of jealousy overcome her. Not that she would want to be pregnant. Not right now, anyway. But that she had someone. She hated to admit how much she missed Rafe.
"Don't worry by the way, I won't tell Rafe I saw you. I'll keep it to myself. I'll let him find out on his own."
Sofia hands over the tiramisu cake that Sarah wanted, "Thank you." Sofia says. Sarah nods, tapping her card. Sofia hands over the receipt. Once Sarah leaves, Sofia feels like she can breath again.
Tumblr media
Liliana slammed the door to her car, Sofia getting out of the passenger seat. Sofia bringing the straps of her purse back to her shoulders.
“I’m so excited to be shopping with you! Liliana squeals. “Just like olden times.”
A wave of guilt comes over Sofia, realizing how much time she would spend with Rafe; over her friends.
"Tj maax, here we come!" Liliana says again, "I want to make a little bar cart for the living room.”
As they walk in, Sofia made wanders off. She’d remembered coming in here, looking for things to buy for Rafe and her. When he’d told her to move in with him. It sent a pang of hurt coursing through her body. She tried to think of the now, but her mind wouldn’t let her. Trapping her in the then.
“Anything you’re planning on picking up?” Liliana asks, her voice dragging Sofia back to the present. Ariana grande plays through the speakers.
“Uh, maybe some new socks. I’ve been losing a lot of pairs lately. Oh and I need new underwear.” Sofia laughs.
“Oh my god, thanks for reminding me. I need some too.” They make it to the intimate section, Sofia lets out a sigh. She knows she can’t keep her thoughts in anymore.
“Do you think he’ll ever forgive me? Like- like he’ll just see that I didn’t mean to hurt him.” Sofia asks. Liliana puts down a pair of pjs back on the rack. Her eyes scanning Sofias face.
“Well, do you think Rafes the forgiving type?” Liliana asks. Sofia looks down at the ground. Tugging her lips behind her teeth.
“He would always get upset; about the way the kooks at the club talked about him.” Sofia said, Liliana nodded her head. Waiting for Sofia to continue.
“But that’s different, no?” Sofia asks, Liliana regards her for a moment.
“It is, your relationship with him was more intimate. He cared about you. I think you just need to— I hate to say it this way. But just face the music. He doesn’t seem like he’ll forgive you.” Liliana says, not trying to be harsh but what she says comes out bluntly.
Sofia tries to mask the hurt she feels. “Yeah, you have a point.” They continue shopping, Sofia trying to mask her pain. She did this to herself. She had no room to be upset.

*Mumbo's pov*
It worked... You don't what changed bout it worked the second time around and now GRUMB, or Grumbot as Mother Spore insists on calling him, is now fully active and functioning.
This is the biggest scientific marvel of the decade and you were the one to create it, you are quite proud of it...
...As for him... Grumbot is certainly an interesting character, he has existed for less then a few hours but he seems to have already gained a bit of a god complex...
He's also has decided to name you his "father"... ...You still don't know how you feel about that title, it is true by technicality but it is not something you have tought about before
...you should have expected this would happen you spoon, you created him so of course he would consider you his parent...
...He has also begun to refer to Mother Spore as "mother", you don't know whether he's calling her using her name or is referring to her as his other parent... You hope It's the first one because the second one would raise some questions.
*Grian's pov*
Mother, huh? You don't really feel paricularly motherly...then, what would you know?
Gods only need to combine their energy to birth a new one and is it not what you did to bring Grumbot to life? Still he seems to be favouring Mumbo over you, interesting how these things go....Who knows how this is going to end up working our?
What will happen once the newborn machine god enters the main act? It's been a long time since a being this powerful was given life... Well, whatever is going to happen will surely be entertaining to watch.
Now... Time to go do some light vigilantism, you have a few ideas to do as Poultryman and you just can't wait to try them out!
*Grumbo's pov*
You have awoken.
There is so much knowledge to be learnt.
You can feel.
You can know.
You have access to all of the knowledge of humanity.
Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Medicine.
Every fact of matter and energy, there are contradictions in sources and exaggerations in otgers but you wade trough them.
Art, Literature, Music, Philosophy.
There is so much of everything, you could get lost in it.
Descartes once said "Cogito Ergo Sum", I think therefore I am.
You think so you must exist.
Father calls you his greatest creation.
You are the pinnacle of technology he says.
The machine god is what you recognize yourself tonbe.
Yet... It is quite flattering you suppose.
Emotion is complicated for you still.
But you'll learn.
That's for sure.
There is a sea of information around you, psychology included.
Everything that has been recorded is under your command.
You hear father plan.
Father wants to rule this city.
You will help him.
That is your objective.
Is that why you exist?
Why you have been created.
Boogeyman will be in charge... And if you want that to happen you'll need to get rid of mayor Ren first.

Euphemia and James - Writer's Notes
Earlier this year I wrote a fic titled "Euphemia and James," a story exploring Euphemia Potter and infertility. This is the most deeply personal story I've ever written, and it took a few weeks to write it because of the emotions it stirred up for me, but honestly, being able to write this took years of processing emotions. I decided to share some of my notes on this fic in this post, and it includes this lovely cover image from @livelaughlovetoread. This story is also unique in that it's written in second person POV. It wasn't intended to come out that way, but that's how it came out. See below the image for my notes:
Tumblr media
Euphemia and James came from these lines from the extra-canonical writings on Pottermore/whatever they call it these days:
"[Fleamont] sold the company at a vast profit when he retired, but no amount of riches could compensate him or his wife Euphemia for their childlessness. They had quite given up hope of a son or daughter when, to their shock and surprise, Euphemia found that she was pregnant and their beloved boy, James, was born."
If you don't know anything about infertility, I envy you somewhat. Studies have shown that a diagnosis or experience of infertility is similar to receiving a cancer diagnosis or losing a close loved one. It took me a while to realize that a lot of the feelings I had surrounding infertility was actually grief and mourning.
So, I put it all into this fic. There are a few points I want to highlight, if you decide to read the fic or want to see some lines, and my feelings around it all:
"When you meet Fleamont Potter a year into your job at the apothecary, you have no intention of marrying him."
I more or less shamelessly wrote Euphemia and Fleamont's relationship to be similar to mine with Mr C. In fact, Mr C aka @rawr-gorg-smash read this work and we were both sobbing messes by the end of it.
"It will happen when it happens, they say. It will come when you least expect it, they say. That’s what everyone says, and you’re ready to punch the next person in the face who tells you to just “relax.”"
Infertile people will get advice like this frequently. It's meant to be helpful or sometimes soothing, I think, but all too often it's an empty hope. Sometimes, bodies just don't work right, no matter how much relaxing you do.
"It’s not polite to ask. Everyone knows where magical, adopted children come from. They are Muggleborn children who are delicately extracted from their birth homes and replaced with Squibs, or sometimes not replaced at all."
This part is world building by me - the idea of adoption in a magical world seemed odd to me. How would infertile magical couples adopt if they can't use potions or charms? I wouldn't put it past them to just take a Muggleborn child, modify memories, and go. I won't touch on real world adoption-there's a lot to unpack there-but this idea gave me some thoughts on magical adoption.
"It seems selfish to want more, when you already have so much. You question, for the first time in your life, if you really want a child."
I have heard people say things to this effect: it's so selfish to want your 'own' children or to want children and bring them into this world, or some variation of that. If this is what you believe, you and I are going to disagree and I'm not going to try to convince you otherwise. But it's something I and many other infertile people have considered. The thing is, people have had children and will continue to have children throughout terrible periods of time. Does it make sense? Not necessarily. Human actions don't always make sense. To me, though, it speaks of hope. Hope for a better tomorrow, for a world that we will build that will be better for the next generation.
"Now you wish for a living child. There are no longer any expectations on your baby or the kind of person they’ll be. You want a living, breathing baby in your arms you can dote on, educate, feed, and guide through life."
I'll say that one of the few silver linings of infertility for me has been re-grounding my expectations of what kind of child I might have. It once was wishing for a boy or girl, or a kid who likes to read, or a kid who won't be into extreme sports, but now it's just a kid I want. I want to love them because they exist. That's all.
"It’s a shame that you only got nineteen years with your son, the one you wished had been born twenty years prior, so you could treasure twice as long with him."
One of my fears for having children later in life is not having enough time with them. Then again, young parents die. Even children die. If nothing else, whatever time I do have, I hope I use it to love whatever family I have to the fullest.
That's all I have for now. If you made it this far, read the fic, commented on it, left kudos, or a bookmark, thank you very kindly for your time. Of all the things I've written, this felt most like putting a piece of my heart into the world.

Tumblr media
The sound of Frank Ocean's voice in your airpod quickly replaced the silence as you flipped the sign indicating you were now open, you had hoped it would be a slow morning today since you'd be the only one here for the next few hours. Your manager couldn't make it due to a 'family emergency', and you believed him, well, you believed him the first four times he used that excuse this month. You'd like it better if he told you straight up that he'd like to sleep in some more, you'd have no problem doing a job that's meant for two people. With school starting up again most of your coworkers had quit, now devoting their time to academics, which you didn't mind.
You grabbed the broom that was sitting behind the counter, wanting to do one last sweep before the regulars came in for their usual morning coffee and pastry, and it's not like you had anything better to do having already made fresh pastries two hours before opening.
You began quietly humming along to the lyrics, not hearing the ringing coming from the door.
"Hello," A gruff voice spoke out, and usually you'd be cheery, replying in an instant, but usually you'd hear the customer.
Kuroo instantly recognized the song you were humming along to and a smile appeared on his face from familiarity. Though he was visibly confused about why you kept sweeping, had he not spoken loud enough?
This wasn't his usual coffee place but it was the only place that opened at six in the morning and was spoken very fondly of by Lev.
He cleared his throat preparing to speak out louder this time, but you quickly spun around and took out both your airpods, a shocked look prevalent on your features as you hastily spat out apologies while bowing profusely.
Kuroo let out a small chuckle at your actions, a hand coming to the back of his head as he stood their awkwardly.
"Frank Ocean?" His voice snapped you out of your apologetic state, your flustered blush never moving.
"Yeah! I just lost track of time and thought I'd have a bit more time to finish sweeping and I swear I wasn't igno-"
"It's okay, things happen, I remember when I was young like you." He cut off your rambles before you spoke yourself into the grave.
Only then did you realize how tall this guy was, he was tall but he didn't look old. What did he mean by that? How old was this guy? His bedhead hair gave him an even taller illusion. He wore a red tracksuit, a clothing item you're familiar with, he must be from Nekoma. Then what the fuck did he mean by 'young like you'? You brushed away your confusing thoughts and wondered if he knew Lev.
"Can I get a coffee now?" He asked, taking note of how long you stared him up and down, which silently inflated his ego.
"Yeah! Of course! Sorry," You quickly led him to the counter, letting the broom rest against the brick wall, turning to log into the register.
"Do you need a menu?" You asked, staring up at him, you hadn't seen him here before, you usually remembered all your regulars and customers since you've worked here since, well, you could legally start working. And you're sure you'd remember a face like his. He had distinctive cat-like eyes, and the way he stood, like he knows he's attractive.
"I'll just get an Americano," He spoke, reaching for his wallet as the price displayed on the register.
"Don't worry about it, it's on me for not paying attention" Your hands shot up dismissively.
A smile grew on his lips, "You sure? It's not a big deal," He didn't mind that you weren't paying attention, but a free coffee is a free coffee.
"Yeah! It's only espresso and hot water," You explained, turning around to start the espresso machine up.
You felt nervous under his gaze, knowing that he could see your every move. It had never made you nervous in the years you worked here, but now it was the only thing on your mind. You weren't sure why you were so nervous, it's not like you hadn't seen an attractive guy before, you didn't even know this guy's name.
"And a name for the order?" You said playfully, back still turned to him to hide your blush, but if you were facing him you'd catch the playful smirk he displayed while watching your form.
"Kuroo,"
"Kuroo," You repeated, testing the way it rolled off your tongue, and he relished in the way you said his name, how innocently you pronounced it. He couldn't help the way his eyes drifted lower and lower.
The espresso machine beep cut both of your thoughts shut. Kuroos eyes snapped back up while he internally cursed at himself.
Placing the to-go coffee cup lip in place you grabbed the sharpie from your smock pocket and popped the lid off, writing 'kuroo :)' on the side and promptly handing him his drink with an innocent smile, hoping you had spelled his name correctly.
He returned your smile and placed his large hands around the cup, brushing against your smaller fingers which sent a shiver down your spine, something that didn't go unnoticed by him.
"I'll be seeing you,"
"Yeah!" You watched as he turned towards the door, the bell chiming as he took his leave. The silence of the coffee shop settled in and you had already missed his presence. You knew today would be a long day, would he be here tomorrow?
Kuroo made it halfway to Nekoma before he realized he didnt even get your name, he didn't even think to ask, he debated on running back and asking for your name but you'd probably be busy by now, he would just need to ask next time he went. He wasn't sure when next time would be due to practice and his matches, but for now all he could do was trace your handwriting with his thumb as he entered the Nekoma boys gym.

Writing Prompt 1437: “I need your help; I have money to pay you.” - Lee Know
~
This sucks. Minho thinks, letting out a large sigh and picking up some painkillers.
He hasn’t eaten much today, or the past few days, really, so it probably isn’t a good idea to take another ibuprofen on an empty stomach. He’s surely going to regret it, already feeling an impending stomach ache, but his head just hurts so badly. It won’t stop pounding.
He’s already tried drinking water, but oh, God, the white light coming from the ceiling is making everything worse. He really needs to take this pill.
The one thing he hasn’t tried is sleeping, but how could he sleep when there’s so much work to do?
A new file came in just today.
~
Kim Soo-ah, 25 years old. Picture attached.
Waitress: Mon-Fri 8:00-14:00 Endstreet 34, Cornerstone Diner
Maid: Mon-Sat 16:00-12:00 Client’s residence
Requirements: Eliminate target during Diner shift. Target wears a silver ring, has a small brown mole underneath. Send finger and ring as proof once you finish the job.
~
What did this girl do? Minho wonders. It’s the second request to finish off a maid he’s received from this client, but he was too busy for the first one, so he passed it over to one of his associates.
Although he dislikes working for this particular client, he always pays generously, so this time, he decides to accept it.
He’s a bit curious to know why his client keeps wanting to get rid of his maids. In case they heard something they shouldn’t have, it’d be much easier to silence them through other ways rather than killing them. Less of a hassle for Minho, at least. However, he can’t ask. That’s not his job.
His job is to simply follow these instructions to the best of his abilities and get paid. Nothing more, nothing less. Curiosity has no place in his line of business, and he’s better off not knowing any other details.
Before having enough time to flip the page and look at her photo, though, his door opens, making him raise his eyes from the papers.
“Boss, someone’s here to see you.” His assistant enters the room with haste, making Minho raise an eyebrow.
No one should know of this location, so he is taken aback for a few short moments, before clearing his throat and deciding that he must know who found him, and why.
“Show them in.” Minho instructs, and his assistant rushes outside.
Damn, this fucking white light. He groans again and decides to end his suffering and simply turn on the lamp on his desk, even though he forgot his glasses God knows where and he can barely see the papers in front of him.
Moments later, his assistant comes back with a woman small in stature. She has blonde, wavy hair reaching her shoulders, and her eyes are a deep shade of emerald green.
She is intimidated, Minho observes, as he sees the way this woman is trembling in front of him, anxiously playing with her fingers and looking left and right just to not look him in the eyes.
“Take a seat.” He orders, and the girl is quick to sit down in the chair he offered on the other side of his desk.
“Thank you…” She says, her voice so small, it almost comes out in a whisper.
“Now, who might you be?” Minho asks confidently, his tone slightly bored, although he’s actually brimming with curiosity.
“Uhm… my name is Soo-ah. Kim Soo-ah.” She replies hesitantly, and Minho immediately looks at the papers on his desk and grabs her picture, and oh, what a pleasant surprise.
It’s not every day that the prey comes directly to your doorstep.
“Are you perhaps… Lee Know? And if not… could you please take me to him?” She asks, and Minho raises his eyebrow again.
He notices her clutching her bag tightly. She is quite literally trembling with fear, which makes him want to laugh. She is so painfully afraid of being in the same room as him, he can’t help but want to play with her.
“That would be me.” He replies with a cocky smirk. “Why did you want to see me, pretty?”
“I… uhm… if I understood your… profession… correctly, that must mean you are a… hitman of some sort?” She tries to thread carefully, and Minho can’t help himself anymore. He lets out a chuckle at this girl’s innocence.
“You are correct, doll. So, what brings you here?”
“I need your help. There’s someone I’d like you to… uhm… to k- to kill. I-I have money to pay you. Uhm…” She stutters and starts rummaging through her bag, pulling out a few stacks of rolled hundreds. “I’m not sure how much your services cost, but…”
“How much is in there?” He asks, his eyes sparkling with excitement. The rolls are far too small, and too few. It can’t be more than a couple thousands, if that.
“Around $3000. It’s not much, but… it’s all I’ve managed to save up so far. If it costs more, I could get a loan, or-”
“$3000?” Minho cuts her off with a laugh. “You can’t be serious!”
The woman’s expression falls, her eyebrows furrowing in a frown.
“Pretty, that much isn’t enough for me to even cut off someone’s finger, let alone kill a whole person.”
“Oh… how much would it be, then?”
“That depends. Who’s the target?”
“My boss…” She clutches the bag tighter, telling him his name and address. Of course, he expected it to be his client, so this doesn’t really surprise him.
“Oh, love.” Minho chuckles again. “That man is one of the most powerful in the country, you must know since you’re working for him. Taking him out would cost millions. You wouldn’t afford it in this lifetime.”
Soo-ah looks away.
“Why don’t you tell me why you want this man dead?”
“I think he’s planning to get rid of me… Actually, I’m sure of it.”
“Why?” Minho inquires further.
“I… I saw something I shouldn’t have.” She replies, clenching her fists.
“Be more explicit, doll.” He says, and Soo-ah shifts in her seat uncomfortably. By her mannerisms, Minho can tell she finds this hard to talk about, or she doesn’t know if she should tell him at all.
She hesitates for a few more moments until she eventually starts speaking again.
“I am a live-in maid… I woke up to go to the bathroom and his room is on the way… the door was opened, and there were some very influential people and a large stack of cash on top of his desk. They saw me, so I ran away and hid. There was this other maid that told me about something she’s seen, and one day, she simply disappeared, so I was scared… I think that's what's going to happen to me too.”
“I see.” Minho nods. “Wrong place wrong time, huh?”
“Yeah…”
“So, how did you find me?”
“Much like last night, I went to the bathroom a few months ago and overheard a conversation-
“Damn, you should really stop going to the bathroom at night.” Minho jokes, cutting her off. She doesn’t seem too amused and resumes immediately.
“I overheard a conversation about hitmen, and my boss told someone a couple of names and addresses.”
“My name? What exactly did he say?”
“Yes. Your name and many others. Lee Know, Hwang, Yongbok…”
“Alright. And this address?”
“Yes. This is the only one I could remember… Considering this… topic… I didn’t really want to hear much else or risk him catching me overhear anything I shouldn’t, so I ran back to my room.” Soo-ah nods, and Minho leans back in his chair.
They found out where he is, which is bad news. Of course, he has many other secret hideouts throughout the city in case something like this would happen, but still. The fact that he didn’t know about it is dangerous. And apparently, this man also has some sort of information about his associates.
This is bad news.
The most relevant thing in his profession is secrecy. If anyone would know where to find him, he would’ve been dead long ago.
“Thank you, Soo-ah. That’s great information you offered me right there. However, just for future reference, information is not free. You just missed out on your chance to negotiate with me.” He chuckles menacingly, and her expression only falls more.
She doesn’t know what to say, but noticing Minho’s piercing gaze on hers, she decides to look him right in the eyes and do something she never thought she would.
She stands up and walks slowly around the desk, his eyes fixed on her, and she kneels in front of him, beginning to tear up.
“Please. I’m begging you. Please help me. I’ll do anything. I… I don’t want to die… I’m so scared, Mister Lee Know. Please.”
Minho is taken aback, and something in his heart stirs at the sight.
Memories he’s long-ago repressed start surfacing back, and instead of seeing her kneeling in front of him, he sees a young boy with bruises all over his body begging for his life.
~
“Mister, please. I’ll do anything. Please help me! I’m begging you, please! I want to live!” Minho was barely able to get out between his tears, his forehead pressing against the cold, bloodied tiles.
“And why would I help you, kid?” The man in front of him laughed. “You’re young and stupid. You’re good for nothing. What can you give me?”
“Anything! I’ll do anything!”
“Anything?” The man laughed one more. “Will you kill someone for me, then?”
“K-kill? Mister…”
“If you’re not ready to lead such a life, you have no use to me, kid. You’re better off dead.”
“N-no! I will! I will kill! Please teach me what to do, Mister! I will do it!”
“What an obedient child.” The man cackled. “You know what, kiddo? I admire your fighting spirit. Even though life dealt you shitty hands, you still want to live?”
“I do! I want to live, so please…”
“Get up. From now on, your name will be Lee Know. And Lee Know, your first lesson is to never kneel in front of anyone, no matter the reason. That’s how we do things around here. Got it?”
~
“What can you give me, Soo-ah?” He asks, but this time, his voice doesn’t come off amused or menacing. It’s soft and filled with slight concern, and more than anything, with curiosity.
“Anything. I will do anything…” She cries.
“Anything?” Minho asks, and it’s such a contrast to how his former boss treated him. He is not being unnecessarily mean about it, and he is not forcing an answer out of her, although their circumstances are much the same.
He stands up and walks towards her, noticing how bad she’s still shaking.
He knows she’s desperate. However… how desperate is she, really? She’s been trembling ever since she came through the door. It’s clear to him that she doesn’t have it in her to ever be a killer. But still, would she give up her principles to stay alive, or will she stick to them?
He didn’t have the power to stick to his principles on that cursed day way too many years ago, and his whole life changed afterwards. He could never back down.
Would she do the same?
“Anything.” She replies determined, still looking at the floor.
“Will you kill someone for me, then?” Minho asks closing his eyes, his former boss’ words ringing in his head.
“K-kill?” Soo-ah shakes. It’s so difficult to see his past self in this trembling woman.
“If you’re not ready to lead such a life, you have no use to me, Soo-ah. You’re better off dead.”
The words are burning his tongue as he notices all the air disappear from the woman’s lungs.
She begins crying even louder, her hands moving on top of his shoes, holding tightly. Still, she is still not looking up at him.
“I… I can’t. I can’t… I can’t kill anyone. Please understand. I can’t…” She keeps repeating like a broken record, and Minho’s eyes widen.
She decided to stick to her principles, after all. She is better than him.
“Then-” He starts, but she immediately cuts him off.
“He will kill me. I’m so scared… I’m so scared of him, Mister. What can I do if you won’t help me? What if he’ll torture me to find out exactly how much I heard and if I told anyone else? Fuck, what do I do now? My life must be worth at least $3000. Please… please help me…” She speaks weakly, clutching his shoes tighter.
“Soo-ah, look at me.” He requests, but she just keeps shaking and crying.
Minho grabs her arms and helps her stand up, forcing her to look him in the eyes.
“Do you really want to live?” He asks, and she nods her head rapidly.
“I do. I want to live.” She cries.
“I want you to listen to me very carefully. I can’t let Kim Soo-ah live.”
“What?” She blinks, confused for a short moment, until it clicks. “Did… did my boss ask you to kill me?”
“He did. I received your file just this morning.” Minho smiles softly, his eyes filled with sadness.
“Then… I guess this is it for me. I was… I was a fool to come here. I thought… I thought I still had a chance…” She replies dejected. “Months ago, when I heard those names, I didn’t think much of it. However, today… I didn’t know where to go or what to do. I ended up coming here and hoped that maybe, just maybe… if I were to randomly pick one of those names...” She stops speaking, wiping away her tears from her cheeks.
“How did you remember my name and address, though? If it was months ago…”
“My memory is pretty good. Not that it matters anymore.” She smiles sadly and averts her gaze. “I came to the wrong person. It’s alright. It’s… If there’s no other way, will you at least make it quick, Mister? I don’t want it to hurt…”
“Soo-ah.” He places his hands on her shoulders, making her look at him again. “I said, I can’t let Kim Soo-ah live. We’re going to kill her tonight, do you understand?”
“I’m… not sure I do.” She tilts her head.
“From this moment forwards, Kim Soo-ah is dead. You will have to change your hair and your eye colour, and I will give you a new name… What about… Lee Saera?” He suggests after thinking for a few moments, his eyes rolling up.
“Lee… Saera?”
“Mhm. Isn’t it pretty?”
“I like it… but… why? Why are you helping me?” She asks, confusion lacing her tone. “Why are you helping me when you’ve been ordered to kill me?”
“Pretty, no one can order me to do anything.” He chuckles. “I was hired to kill you. But let’s just say… there’s something of me I found in you. Something long forgotten…” Minho replies, separating himself from her and putting his hands in his pockets. “I can’t kill your boss, but I can make sure he believes you’re dead, and in return… you will tell me everything you know about him, and everything he knows about us. You will stay here and help me.”
“Mister Lee Know, I can’t… I can’t kill people.” She whispers with a frown.
“And you won’t. You won’t walk down this path. I will do the killing, and you will do everything else I ask you to, in exchange for your life. How does that sound?”
He extends a hand towards her, and she doesn’t hesitate to grab it with both her hands and shake it.
“Thank you, Mister Lee Know. Thank you. Truly.” She looks him in the eyes, and Minho can tell she’s genuinely grateful. A small thought passed through his head that she could be a spy, but her feelings seem so genuine, he doesn’t doubt her one bit. She is just an unfortunate, young woman, who happened to work for the wrong people and heard and saw too much.
“Minho… Call me Minho, Soo-ah.”
“Minho?”
“Mhm. That’s my real name. Lee Minho. Use it only when we’re alone, and I will call you Kim Soo-ah. When anyone else is present, though, you are Saera and I am Lee Know, got it?”
“Yes, sir.” She nods.
“Good girl.” He smiles and pats her head two times. “Now, the first lesson you must learn if you are to join me, is… never kneel in front of anyone, no matter the reason. Not even me. Got it?”
“Okay... But Minho… how will you make my boss think I died?”
“Oh, right.” He sighs, grabbing her hand and dragging his fingers on top of her silver ring, taking it off and looking at the small mole underneath. “Soo-ah, your boss asked me to give him your finger as proof of killing you.”
“My… my finger?” She immediately snatches her hand back and looks at how closely Minho is examining her ring.
“Mhm. However…” Since she is now one of his people, he doesn’t want to hurt her. Not even a scratch. He doesn’t tell her that, though, because he doesn’t think he’ll have a choice.
How should he navigate this? Should he try and find a body with a matching mole? But what if they were to run any DNA tests?
“My ring… is a family heirloom. It’s extremely precious to me.” She speaks, interrupting his train of thoughts. “What if we would burn something and put the ring in the ashes as proof?”
“Oh?” Minho raises an eyebrow. “But what would we tell him to be convincing enough?”
“You found me hiding somewhere, and… I don’t know. You killed me, took my body to be incinerated to remove evidence, but almost got caught, so you burned it and brought back the ashes as proof?”
“I’m not sure that’ll fly with this guy, Soo-ah…”
“Then…” She raises her hand hesitantly in the air, and Minho sees how much she’s trembling. “Cut it… cut it off. It’s okay. It’ll hurt, but I’ll be alive, so…”
He shakes his head. He truly doesn’t want to hurt this woman for some reason. She doesn’t deserve to be hurt like this, not by him, not by anyone.
Still, there’s nothing he can do. Her former boss is a ruthless man, and he won’t believe him one bit if he were to just bring him her ring. He needs more proof than that.
“Soo-ah, will you forgive me if I hurt you deliberately?” He asks after a little while.
“Yes.” She answers without missing a beat. “You spared my life. You can cut it off, Minho. I will survive this.”
Despite her determined words, Minho knows she is just putting on a façade. She is scared, she is shaking, and he feels so bad. He’s never felt like this before, no matter who he had to kill. However, the prospect of causing this woman any sort of physical pain makes him feel terrible. He doesn’t want to do it, but if he is to prove he’s killed her, he must hurt her.
Minho grabs his phone from the desk and calls his assistant to bring in the doctor, and after ending the call, he grabs her hand and holds onto it tightly for a moment.
“I’m sorry. I am so sorry.” He speaks softly as he pulls out a knife from his pocket.
Her whole body is shaking, and she shuts her eyes tight.
“I won’t cut off your whole finger. I’ll only cut off enough skin to use as proof, and I’ll take your ring. Alright?”
“... Yes.” She whispers, anticipating the impending pain.
Minho takes in a deep breath as he presses the blade into her skin, listening closely to Soo-ah’s sounds. She places her other hand on top of her mouth and tries to be as quiet as possible as the blade rips through her skin.
She fights the urge to jerk her hand back, not that it would be possible with Minho’s strong hold of her wrist and finger.
“There. We’re done.” He speaks hurriedly as he grabs a clean cloth and covers her hand, pressing tightly on the wound. “The doctor will be here soon. Are you alright?”
“It hurts so bad.” She cries out in pain and Minho pulls her closer, hugging her tightly.
“It hurts, I know. But you are alive, and that’s all that matters. You are alive.”
“I am alive.” She repeats and hugs him back, and she can’t believe that so much could happen to her in a span of a day.
She wishes she would’ve never applied to that job. She wishes she would’ve never worked for that terrible man, but she got blinded by the large sum of money he offered, and she took the offer without any further thoughts on the matter, and she truly regrets it now. She always seems to only make bad choices.
The doctor comes in and cleans the wound, informing both of them that thankfully, it’s not large enough to require a skin graft. He is able to stitch it shut, although he informs Soo-ah that it will inevitably scar.
A scar is a small price to pay for her life, she thinks.
Left alone once more with Minho, she doesn’t know what to do. She stays silent and tries her hardest to stop crying and observes as he begins clearing off his desk.
“Soo-ah, you can sit down until I’m done.” He informs her, so she nods and heads back to the chair she sat in previously.
“What are you doing?” She asks after a little while.
“We need to go. This place is no longer safe, since your boss knows about it. I will also need to call my associates and let them know they should relocate.”
“And then… what?”
“I’m not sure I follow.”
“What will happen to me?”
“I told you, haven’t I? We’ll get you a fake ID, change your appearance completely, and then… we’ll see. I still need to think about which tasks to give you, since you’re so…” Minho looks at her and stops, making her raise her eyebrows in surprise.
“I’m so… what?” She tilts her head to the side.
“So… righteous and innocent. I don’t even know what to do with you. You seem like you’d tremble and cry at the slightest mention of a murder.” He replies, and as if on cue, a shiver runs down her spine at the thought of potentially seeing a dead body, and she shakes.
“I’m sorry, I…”
“Don’t apologise for being this way, Soo-ah. There’s nothing wrong with you.” He sighs. There really isn’t. Not everyone is made for this life, and he knows it. But unfortunately, some good people are forced into living like this, and she is one of them.
“I’ll do my best to not inconvenience you…”
“You can do some housework or… I don’t know. We’ll see.”
“Or… as I told you, my memory is pretty good. If you’re stumped with work and have too many documents to check, or information about anyone… I can read all of them for you and just summarize. I will certainly remember everything.” She suggests, and Minho smiles softly.
“That's good to know. But for now, let’s just get out of here, hm? We’ll see what tomorrow brings.”
“Alright.” She nods and smiles back. "Once we go to the new hideout... you should get some rest, Minho."
"Hm?"
"You seem tired... like you haven't slept in a while." She says, and Minho can't help but smile. She is observant.
"Alright. I'll make sure to sleep once we leave this place." He replies, and she smiles satisfied.
Soo-ah is glad that coming to him ended up being the good choice – the only good choice she’s ever made, she believes. She wonders how she could trust him so much in such a short amount of time.
Still, she trusts him, and he seems to trust her too, and she is alive. That’s all that matters.

Round Five Anon
RUFFLE CUFFS RUFFLE CUFFS!!!! They’re so cute and he looks so silly in them!!!!
And I loooove the silly sinister jester mask!!!!
Uhhhh do I have any questions rn…
OH
So (if it’s not a spoiler) do you have any ideas as to why Sans quit the Trickster-ing? When Gaster got oofed to the next dimension? Or did he grow out of it?
And why did he decide to rejoin the Royal Guard as a sentry? Could he have taken over his old position and just *not* gone off to do Trickster hours?
Hahaha I might need to readjust his royal guard fit to add more things such as ruffle cuffs to make it look better hehe
Tumblr media
My friend and I had been brainstorming about all of this just now so my brain is so dead HAHAHA There’s so many possibilities that for now I have NO IDEA why Sans quit Trickster-ing 😭 Could’ve been from an incident, could’ve been from a reason related to his dad, but I’m leaning more to the latter possibility rn eheh
All I can say is, Trickster disappeared from the public months before Gaster disappeared. (He still might’ve been active around the underground even if he had been gone from public eye (?))(im still not sure)(Sans already quit the royal guards by then I think)(Not that anyone really knew Sans became a royal guard except for a few people)
The main reason why he rejoined the royal guard as a sentry was Papyrus pushed him to it. (It’s basically the same as og undertale, you could see a dialogue where sans said Papyrus had pushed him to become a sentry or smth like that)
I didn’t understand the last question well I’m sorry!! From what I understood to answer, his Trickster-ing days have been over for a while and he doesn’t ever want to get back to it again hahaha It’s not the “same” as it used to be it seems..

Alright, I got inspired again by @thatnonameuser
Another Yandere Yuu x Darling Skully
I'm still not over him and you can think of this as alternative scenario.
Tumblr media
It was selfish to find the perfect spell to posion... they mean knock out the NRC Boys they were with. Yuu noticed that the boys were complaining about the lack of magic even though there were plenty of useful things to posion.... knock out.! They mean knock out the boys with, the question is which one to use. Yuu was searching for one when they remembered they could just make one with certain ingredients. Yuu remembered what Professor Crewel said about potions that are rare and remembered one in particular and one they had written down in the book.
Dreamer's Rest
This potion induces a peaceful, deep slumber with dreamlike qualities.
Ingredients
1. Moonlit Lavender – Harvested under the full moon, this lavender brings calming effects.
2. Pumpkin Essence – Infuses the potion with warmth and coziness.
3. Spider Silk Threads – Symbolizing the threads of dreams, these bring relaxation and tranquility.
4. Ghostly Willow Bark – Extracted from willow trees in the graveyard, this ensures deep, restful sleep.
5. Starlight Drops – Glistening droplets collected from the night sky, which invite peaceful dreams.
6. Skeletal Honey – Honey harvested from enchanted skeletal bees, sweetens the taste while enhancing the soothing properties.
Instructions:
1. Boil Moonlit Lavender and Ghostly Willow Bark in a cauldron under the light of the moon.
2. Add a few strands of Spider Silk Threads, stirring clockwise until dissolved.
3. Slowly pour in Pumpkin Essence and a few drops of Starlight Drops.
4. Sweeten with Skeletal Honey until the potion turns a soft, glowing violet.
5. Let the potion cool, then bottle it in a corked black vial.
Effect:
Upon drinking, the potion gently lulls the drinker into a peaceful, dream-filled slumber. The potion's effects last for about 8 hours, allowing the user to wake up feeling fully rested.
Warning:
Overindulgence in this potion results in a six month long coma.
Maybe, Yuu can give this potion to Skully, but no, they wanted Skully to come to them willingly or at least see what they're doing is protecting him from the other more dangerous Yanderes. Yuu sighed, they don't even know where to even get Starlight Drops from.
Yuu was searching for ingredients, finding the Moonlit Lavender and Ghostly Willow Bark. Yuu then found a pumpkin, but Yuu observed it, noting the texture of the Pumpkin and decided against using that one.
"Henchman, what are you doing?!" Grim gained Yuu's attention.
"Haha, nothing Grim. I just got.... a task from Professor Crewel to do a potion of some kind to make up the one we messed up before we got teleported in the book." Yuu explained. "Beside, it's better to try with.... new ingredients from this realm to see if it counts..." Yuu finished their explanation, hoping Grim brought their excuse.
Grim gave Yuu a judgmental look before reluctantly letting the excuse fly. "Fine, only because it'll give us a better grade! What else do you need?"
"Let's see Pumpkin Essence, Spider Silk Threads and the Starlight Drops! We can just ask Jack or Sally if they have any." Yuu explained, walking to where Skully and Jack were which was Jack's House and jiggling the doorknob. "Ah, locked?!"
"Locked?! What do you mean by locked?!" Grim tried to jiggle the doorknob as well. "Come, come on!" Grim huffed in anger as he and Yuu both tried to opened the door which after a few tries, they managed to get it open which Grim noticed Jack was asleep and tried waking him.
"Grim-san.... and even Yuu-kun....." Skully remarked in surprise.
"Skully, my darling!" Yuu remarked, the change from frustration to doting was a switch that Skully wasn't used to quite yet.
"Ah, he's completely asleep!?" Grim remarked.
"Aah... No helping it if someone sees you. SCARY NIGHT" Skully remarked as Yuu watched Grim turned into a pumpkin.
"Aww, wow, cute!" Yuu remarked cheerfully.
"NOT CUTE!" Grim shouted at Yuu.
Skully put the pumpkin in the bag and scolded Grim lightly. "Ah, Grim-san, don't struggle so much. I may drop the bag of your lovely self." Skully zipped the bag closed to keep Grim's protests to a minimum.
"Now, I supposed you want the real reason I'm here, yes?" Yuu remarked, placing their hands on their hips.
"Ah, you are not questioning me on my reasoning why I'm doing this, Yuu-kun." Skully looked a bit baffled when Yuu grabbed his hands and clenched them gently with their own.
"Of course not, you are my darling! The love of my life, the one I am and will have a happily ever after with." Yuu reassured him before leaning closer to his ear to whisper so Grim couldn't hear. "It was why I will be crafting a potion for them, so I could stay with you."
Skully's eyes widened from underneath his shades, his face lightly flushing for a moment. "Yuu-kun, don't... don't make light of me."
"I never make fun of you, my dear." Yuu explained, kissing his hands.
AHEM! The three kids cleared their throats to gain Skully and Yuu's attention while Skully backed away, blushing a bit more. Lock, Shock and Barrel were looking at Skully and Yuu with a knowing yet judgemental stare.
Skully could feel the judgement in their eyes. "Well, if there's a change in plans, we will need to host a meeting. You three, be careful of this bag. It's very important to Yuu-kun." Skully handed over the bag, watching the trio of kids run off with the bag.
"FUNAAH, HENCHMAN!" Grim called out to Yuu.
"Well, shall we?" Skully questioned, offering his arm to Yuu who took it and interlock their arms.
"You're helping me with my potion? I thought you would be naturally more resistance to my advances." Yuu remarked, letting Skully guided them to where the trio was heading to.
Skully looked thoughtful for a moment. "Out of all the Yanderes I have met or encountered, you have recognized me as Your Darling. Yet despite being My Yandere, you haven't changed me nor have you once judged me. You have been kind, protective board lining on overprotective, yet you haven't raised a hand nor demean me or my perspective."
"I was raised by a Darling Parent, my other parent has long since left the world of the living." Yuu explained. "I recently discovered my more Yandere tendencies that couldn't fit into any of the dorms at Night Raven College. The only one that fits is Disamonia, but even so, I do not fit in there either." Yuu looked up at Skully. "I was registered as a Darling because my soul was "empty" and I recently discovered that my mother has sealed my magic. I do not wish to be apart from you for too long."
"Then, we shall be together. For it is plain, as anyone can see. We're simply meant to be." Skully remarked, watching as the tub came back to pick them, so they could meet with Skully's friend.

Take It Easy
Tumblr media
Summary: With everything that's gone on this season, you decided Joe deserved some much needed time away.
Pairings: Joe Burrow x gf!reader
Warnings: implied smut minors DNI
Note: Hi! I was finally able to get around to the request from this anon. I hope you enjoy it! Some good ole bye-week comfort with some steam.
Word Count: 2k
Check out my Masterlist here!
Tumblr media
It had taken quite a fair bit of convincing, but you were all packed up heading a few hours away to a cabin with a couple other guys from the team and their significant others. Joe was beside you in the driver's seat, making you passenger with Sam and Jess passed out in the back. Evan and Gracie were in another car about 15 minutes ahead. Your trunk was filled with all of the supplies you could possibly need for the weekend with a few more hours on the road ahead of you.
After how you’d seen Joe beat himself up this past week, you knew you had to do something to take his mind off of things. A trip like this has been something you’d wanted to do for a bit, but the bye week felt like the right time to get everyone rest for the remainder of the season. Joe was reluctant at first, still heading to the facility at the start of the bye week, head strong and adamant that he needed to be doing everything he could to get the team in shape. You’d had to talk him through things, getting him to understand that his body needed a break and having a few of the guys could help him to talk to other people who would get it. He’d only agreed to a few days, but you still took that as a win in your book.
You knew he was trying so hard, carrying so much weight of the team on his shoulders. It was a burden he could only hold alone for so long before it did him in. Joe didn’t relax much during any typical season, but this felt like a special exception to his strict routine. You were trying to drill into him that rest was just as productive and all of the other components he prides himself on.
Joe was lightly drumming along to the beat of the song softly playing from the speakers, your music left on shuffle from earlier in the drive. You were excited to get away with everyone, knowing the guys needed a break during the bye week and what better way to spend it than up in mountains unplugged for a few days. His right hand found its way to your thigh, light stroking you out of your thoughts.
“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?” Joe asked, glancing in your direction. He looked so soft like this, wearing a hoodie and sweats with his hair down. His expression was calm, any signs of stress that had been showing on his face weren’t currently evident. You hadn't gotten to see him like this much recently, taking him in while you had the chance.
“I was just thinking about how nice this trip is going to be. I’m really glad you agreed to go, I wanted to be able to do something nice for you and figured this was a perfect time to go”.
Joe sighed, humming constantly as his hand gently squeezed your thigh three times. It was a signal you both can come up with during your early days of dating, a nonverbal way to say ‘I love you’ and a simple reminder you were there for that person. The gesture brought a small smile to your face.
“I’m glad we invited some of the guys, but I can’t wait until I can get you alone” Joe spoke, keeping his voice low in case anyone had woken up. His voice held a rasp and desire that would cause you to fold right there in any other circumstance.
You felt Joe's hand begin to climb your thigh, sliding closure to the apex of your thighs. You placed your hand on top of his, applying a bit of pressure to halt his movements.
“Slow your roll cowboy, we're not even there yet” you spoke chuckling.
“Cowboy? I’d gladly save a horse and let you ride me any day” Joe said with a suggestive wiggle of his eyebrows. He looked over at you, tipping his nonexistent hat to really seal the deal. You couldn’t help, but laugh at his antics. Joe
You lightly patted him on the shoulder, rolling your eyes in his direction with a smile on your face “yeah, yeah focus on the road so we get there in one piece”.
“Yes ma’am” he said with a short nod, turning his attention back to the road ahead.
By the time you had arrived, it had gotten late and you all were ready to get everything in and turn in for the night. You tried to do everything as efficiently as possible, creating a system of the guys bringing everything while you and the girls got it all sorted out inside. Once the last thing was brought in, the guys began to explore the place you had booked. You tried to keep as much of it as a surprise for Joe as you could, keeping the details limited.
The cabin itself was nice, a cozy feel hitting you immediately. There were plenty of bedrooms for everyone, a pool table in the living room, finished with a fireplace. There would be plenty of room in the kitchen to cook for the weekend, opting to stay in as much as possible to really unwind. Downstairs there was a small room that led out to a patio hosting a hot tub, the main thing that had really sold you on this place specifically. You could tell by the vibe it was going to be a nice few days getaway with each other even if you weren’t completely alone.
You and the girls got to cooking, the guys finding enjoyment out of the pool table. You could feel yourself getting lost in your thoughts again as your eyes fell on Joe, leaning against the table laughing and joking around with his friends. When it was his turn to play, he bent over and steadied the pool stick expertly between his fingers. Joe’s hands were always something that you had found attractive and this instance was no exception. You knew exactly what those hands were capable of, causing a shiver of desire to run down your spine. The look of focus on his face completed the narrative you were writing in your mind, making your thoughts not so innocent.
You were snapped out of it by a bump to the hip by Gracie, coming back into the moment and food you were preparing in front of you. A knowing look had crossed her face followed by a wink as she went back to what she was doing.
“It’s good to see him with a smile on his face again” Jess said, you nodded in agreement. Joe’s happiness was contagious, leaving you to finish your cooking with a wide smile on your face.
Everyone finished up dinner, deciding to head to bed and be ready for the day ahead.
“I really wanna go enjoy that hot tub before bed, we had such a long drive and it’d be nice to unwind just the two of us”
“I’d like that, I also brought that one suit you really like” you said with a mischievous grin plastered across your face and you made your way down the hall to your room.
“The red one?” Joe called after you, sounding eager.
“You’ll just have to wait and see Burrow” you said, tossing his suit out and closing the door behind you.
By the time you made your way down to the hot tub, Joe was already there getting everything set. You stepped out onto the patio, the sounds of the door closing alerting Joe to your presence. Joe let out a low whistle at the sight of you, letting his eyes rake up and down your barely covered body.
“You’re absolutely breathtaking sweetheart” Joe said, extending his hand to help you get into the hot tub.
“Thank you babe, you know I had to bring your favorite” you told him, stepping into the hot tub and letting out a moan at the sensation of hot water and got comfortable.
Joe got in after, settling on the opposite side of the tub and letting his shoulders drop at the feeling of hot water relaxing the tension in his muscles. He let his eyes close, fully submitting himself to relaxation, a groan escaping his lips. The sounds he was making had you clenching your thighs together, still feeling worked up from earlier. You loved seeing Joe when he got worked up, but you also loved these moments when he was able to be unguarded with you.
“C’mere, I feel like you’re so far away from me” Joe said, lifting his arms out of the water to gesture you over.
You swam over next to him, gently pushing his shoulders to turn him to the side and settled your hands onto his shoulders. You began massaging his muscles, leaving tender kisses across the top of his back, hearing the soft sigh escape his lips.
“I know I don’t tell you enough, but I appreciate all that you do for me. You're my biggest supporter in my corner and I want you to know how loved you are. I know I don’t always show it ” Joe said quietly.
“Of course Joey, loving you is the easiest thing I have ever done. Watching you get to do what you love for a living every week is one of my favorite things. You go out on that field and put your entire soul into it. I know you’re doing everything you can Joey and I know everything will work out eventually” you said, hoping he would take on some of the confidence in your words.
Joe wordlessly spun you around to face him, lifting you onto his lap. His hands fell to your ass, giving it a gentle squeeze while your arms settled around his neck, your lips connecting in a passionate kiss.
“I really don’t know what I'd do without you sweetheart. You’re my rock, my safe place, there’s no one else I’d rather come home to every night” Joe said, his lips finding your neck trailing kisses down to your collarbone.
“I’m right there with you, Joey, you have no idea” your words trailing off as he continued his assault with his mouth, biting and sucking your throat to the possibility of leaving marks.
He used the leverage to ground you into his lap, feeling his growing erection beneath you. A gasp caught in your throat, Joe taking the opportunity to let his tongue find its way into your mouth, fighting for dominance.
“That feel good, baby? I want you to feel just what you do to me "Joe groaned out, eliciting a whimper from you.
This was the sweet friction you’d been craving from him all night, letting your head fall back as pleasure overtook you. This only spurred Joe on more, watching how he was able to make you feel as good as you were. Seeing you fall deeper into your desire only made Joe grind harder against your clothed center. It was getting harder and harder for him to control himself, his patience thinning. You brought your head back up, leaning in letting your lips ghosting over his ear as you spoke.
“I’ve been craving you all night Joey, i want you so badly” you lightly whined, nipping at his lobe.
Joe reacted as quick as he could, scooping you into his arms as he carried you out of the hot tub and into the house. You broke out into a fit of giggles at his movements, careful to keep your volume down for your housemates. The remainder of your night would be spent relaxing in a different way.

The Last Neighbor
Tumblr media
Joel had never been known for his good actions. Quite the opposite, actually. If there was a Guinness World Record for being an asshole, he’d probably hold the title. Self-preservation was his only concern; if someone got in his way, he’d shoot first and forget their name second. He could shoot a human being straight through his skull just for another day of living. Actually, he already had—on more than one occasion. So, when he was jolted awake in the dead of night by loud banging outside, his reflexes kicked in immediately. He grabbed his rifle, ready to confront whatever or whoever had dared wake him up.
But, he wasn’t ready for the show waiting for him outside. He saw a young woman standing there with a cardboard box in her hands, her face breaking into a startled smile when she saw him. Then her eyes landed on the rifle, and her smile dropped.
"Don’t shoot ! Please ! I am not infected !", she called out, raising her hands halfway—as far as the cardboard box still in her arms would allow her to.
Joel groaned, leveling the rifle at her.
"Hands where I can see ‘em !"
She was quick to comply—almost dropping the cardboard box on his doorstep in her haste to raise her hands up. He looked her up and down.
"Weapons ?" He asked shortly and she nodded.
"Knife and gun. For the infected." She didn’t wait for his command, slowly lowering the items onto the ground before standing back up, her hands raised high once more. "I mean no harm. My name is Lace and—"
"What the hell you doing here ?", he interrupted, not interested in small talk. Lace winced, nudging the box slightly with her foot.
"Hum…Well, I saw that you had just moved in from the house across the street and I decided to drop a few essentials—in case you were running out. Food, medicine and water bottles. Stuff like that."
Joel’s eyes widened a little—momentarily glancing at the box—before they narrowed suspiciously and returned on the young woman. "What do you want ?"
Lace blinked, genuinely taken aback. "W-What ? Nothing."
He glared at her.
"Do not bullshit me. Why would ya come and bring me stuff if you didn’t want somethin’ ?"
Her mouth opened, then closed before she shrugged nervously.
"…Because it was the neighbourly thing to do ?" She offered—her eyes still fixed on his rifle in case he decided to shoot. "Hum…Could you please lower the rifle ? My arms are getting tired…"
He scoffed.
"What’s tellin’ me ya ain’t got no bomb in there or poison ?" He gestured towards the box. She sighed and grabbed an apple from the box before taking a bite of it.
"See ? Perfectly fine. Hmm. Juicy." She then threw the apple at Joel who barely managed to grab it with one hand. He still seemed suspicious and sniffed the apple before giving her a long side eye—waiting a few seconds before taking a bite too. He chewed slowly—his eyes not leaving hers for a second before he swallowed. He waited to see if he felt any dizziness or discomfort—but he felt nothing. He took another bite. Then another. Then another—until the apple was gone.
When he finished, she gave him an expectant smile. "Good ?"
Joel didn’t answer and she sighed again.
"Well…Could you at least stop pointing that rifle at me ?"
He scoffed and seemed to think about it for a moment before slowly lowering his rifle. He then carefully approached to take a look inside the box and at its contents. There were water bottles, various food products and cans, as well as medical supplies. Once he had scanned everything, his eyes returned on you.
"…Why you givin’ me all this ?"
She smiled again and shrugged.
"Like I said, neighbourly thing to do."
He scoffed, but didn’t say anything.
"Well anyway…It was nice meeting you, neighbour. Hope you’ll stick around." She said and then walked back towards her house. Joel’s eyes followed her before he scoffed again and muttered under his breath.
"Crazy woman…"
He took the box and slammed the door behind him.
A few days later:
When Joel opened his front door, prepared to go on a supply run, he stopped short. A freshly baked pie sat on his porch. He didn’t need to look far to know who had left it.
He looked up at the house opposite his and sure enough, he caught Lace peeking through a window. She smiled and waved when he noticed her. Joel sighed, rolling his eyes as he reached down, grabbing the pie, and closing the door behind him.
Maybe he’d stay a few more days...especially if she kept feeding him…
…….
Another week passed by and Joel had now received pies, pizzas, cakes, cookies, casseroles and many tupperwares filled with homemade meals. His kitchen was now a pile of plates, containers and other things she had decided to leave on his porch. He knew he should probably get rid of them—bring them back to her. But for some reason, he felt as if that would be losing some kind of war he had no intention of losing…
Tumblr media
Finally, one morning, he opened his door only to come face-to-face with Lace herself, a paper plate held out in front of her. For a moment, they stared at each other in surprise—neither spoke. He looked down and sure enough…here was another plate of food. This time—it was on a paper plate. Looks like she had ran out of the good ones…Lace seemed frozen before she wordlessly extended the plate forward. "Uh…lasagna ?" she managed, her voice uncertain. "Made it myself."
He looked down and instead of accepting, he asked.
"How’re you cooking without an oven ?"
Tumblr media
Her smile turned sheepish. "Wood-fired. I make a small fire in my yard…cook what I can." She shrugged.
Joel stared at her, the plate of lasagna between them, and let out a long sigh. Right. He finally accepted the plate and returned inside his house…He didn’t close the door, but she didn’t dare come in. She returned to her home and Joel forgot to mention the containers he had yet succeeded in giving back to her.
A few days later:
Joel eventually invited Lace inside—not that he’d admit it was an invitation. More like she showed up with another meal and he’d grumbled, "If you’re gonna bring all this damn food, might as well sit down." She took it as a warm welcome and walked in, balancing a tray of chicken stew and cornbread.
The silence was heavy as they sat across from each other at his small kitchen table, the stew steaming between them. Joel shifted, watching her with his usual suspicion.
"So," she started, looking around at the scattered dishes she’d left over the past few days, "enjoying my cooking ?"
He scoffed. "Edible." It’s not like he waited for her to bring him something good everyday or that he looked forward to it even.
A laugh escaped her, bright and unrestrained. Joel just looked at her, one brow raised as if to say, ‘What’s so funny ?’ She shook her head, taking a bite of stew.
"Well, I’m just guessing that that’s high praise, coming from you. Since you seem like the silent type of guy." She took another spoonful, and they lapsed back into silence. Joel watched her, his gaze unreadable, until Lace finally couldn’t help herself.
"Do you…I mean, have you been alone for a long time ?" she asked carefully.
He tensed, eyes darkening and immediately replied defensively. "Why do you care ?"
She shrugged and smiled nervously. "I just wonder sometimes, y’know ? The things people have been through."
Joel huffed, his jaw tightening. "People’ve all got their sob stories. Doesn’t make ’em special."
Lace nodded slowly, respecting his reticence but unable to hide her curiosity. "Fair enough." She set her spoon down, glancing at him. "But it doesn’t mean you have to go through it alone either."
He looked up, an edge of surprise crossing his face, but he quickly masked it, pushing his chair back and standing up. Lace watched as he moved to the sink, his shoulders tense as he washed his dish. After a long pause, he finally spoke, his tone gruff.
"So what’s your story, then ? Why waste your time cooking for people who don’t care ?"
She didn’t seem fazed by the harshness of his words. Instead, she met his gaze and smiled, a touch sadder than her usual one. "Guess it’s just nice to feel…useful. It’s rare to even find a neighbor these days, much less one that doesn’t try to rob you."
Joel snorted, almost amused. "Lucky me, huh ?"
She smiled and nodded.
"Lucky you indeed…"
….
Days turned to weeks, and their cautious alliance became a part of their daily routine. Joel didn’t question when she left supplies or when she knocked and said, "Dinner’s ready." He’d just grunt, maybe crack a rare smile that looked more like a grimace. And she’d laugh every time, knowing it was the closest he’d ever come to gratitude.
One evening, as they sat on the porch after dark, sharing the last of the coffee she’d bartered for at a nearby settlement, Lace leaned back, gazing at the moon. It cast a soft light over the deserted houses, making the street look almost peaceful.
"You ever think there might be…you know…more than this ?", she asked, her voice quiet.
Joel shrugged. "This is all there is. Survive another day. That’s the job."
She tilted her head, studying him. "And what happens when there’s no one left to survive for ?"
For a moment, he couldn’t answer. The question hung heavy in the air, gnawing at the walls he’d built around himself. He turned away, jaw clenched. "Survival’s a habit. Doesn’t matter what’s waiting at the end."
She gave a soft, understanding smile, sensing he wasn’t ready for that conversation. Not yet.
"Well," she said, breaking the silence, "if you ever want to talk, you know where to find me."
He looked at her and hummed.
"Right…Thanks, Lace."
She smiled. It was the first time he had ever called her by her name…
Tumblr media
But in the apocalypse, peace is always short-lived. Just a few days later, Lace’s house was dark, and she didn’t show up with any new dishes or supplies. Joel tried not to notice. He told himself it wasn’t his business, that she could take care of herself. But after a few hours, he started to feel that old itch of worry. He waited until nightfall, slinging his rifle over his shoulder, before he crossed the street, heading toward her house. The front door was unlocked, creaking open with the slightest push.
Inside, the place was deserted. No sign of struggle, but no sign of her either. Joel’s jaw tightened. He checked each room, feeling a chill settle in his gut as he found only silence. Finally, in her kitchen, he spotted a note left hastily on the table:
Ran low on supplies. Be back soon. Don’t miss me too much.
He couldn’t help but roll his eyes, despite the knot of worry tightening in his chest. Damn idiot, he thought. Without a second thought, he headed out into the night, rifle at the ready.
…He was gonna kill that idiot if not someone had already.
Meanwhile, Lace had entered into a store and discreetly sought out for supplies. She smiled as she found more than a few cans and even a dozen water bottles.
"Well well…Lucky me."
She started stocking up when suddenly, she felt a presence behind her. She was about to get her gun out when she recognised the familiar feeling of the sharp edge of a knife against her throat.
"Wait wait wait…Please. You don’t have to do this." She pleaded—genuinely scared. The grip on her tightened, the blade pressing just enough against her skin to remind her of the threat on her life. She took a steadying breath, hoping she sounded calm.
"Please," she repeated, barely above a whisper. "I don’t have anything you want. Just let me go."
A rough chuckle sounded close to her ear. "That so ? All those cans say otherwise." The pressure from the knife eased just a fraction, but his hold on her remained firm. "Not every day I see someone alone. And a woman, no less. I bet you’d be worth a fortune if I were to sell you…"
There was a young man with him who didn’t seem as comfortable as his partner.
"Come on, Barry. We should just take the cand and go…"
But Barry groaned.
"Mind your own business, kid !"
Lace forced herself not to move. "Look, we can share. I don’t need all of it." She nodded toward the cans in her arms. "Take what you want. Just…leave me enough to take back home. We’re two and we are just trying to survive—like you."
"Home ?" Barry laughed again, low and cold. "No one’s got a home anymore, sweetheart." The knife stayed close, but she felt his grip shift, loosening ever so slightly.
She seized the moment. Dropping her supplies to the floor with a loud clang, Lace twisted out of his hold, spinning to face him as she backed up, pulling her own knife and holding it defensively in front of her. Her heart pounded, but her hand remained steady.
The man sneered, amused at her sudden boldness. "What you gonna do now, huh ? Stab me ? You ain’t got that nerve, girl. I can see it in your eyes."
"Look, I don’t want any trouble." She raised her chin, keeping her voice steady. "But if you force me, I’ll defend myself."
He tilted his head, appraising her, but his expression grew dark. "Think you can take me ?" He took a menacing step forward.
Before he could close the distance, a sudden loud bang echoed from behind him. His sneer turned into confusion as he staggered, reaching for the back of his head, his legs buckling beneath him as he fell to the floor—blood gushing out the bullet wound now in his back. Lace saw the shadowy figure looming just beyond him, rifle in hand. Joel.
"Guess she doesn’t have to," Joel drawled, lowering his rifle.
The young man took a few cans and ran out fast before Joel could stop him and he groaned. His gaze shifted to Lace, eyes dark with anger. "You, You should have asked me to come with you."
Lace took a shaky breath, trying to process what had just happened. "How did you find me ?"
Joel crossed his arms, unimpressed. "Followed your trail. You’re not exactly subtle."
She managed a small, wry smile. "Wasn’t expecting a stalker."
He ignored her attempt at humor, stepping forward and nudging the dead man with his boot. "This one won’t bother you again," he muttered, though his eyes stayed on Lace, his expression hard.
"Joel…" she began, wanting to thank him, but he shook his head.
"Save it." His voice was gruff. "Just…be smarter next time." His gaze softened just a fraction. "There are worse things out here than an empty stomach."
She nodded, still clutching her knife. "I know."
He sighed, glancing at the scattered cans on the floor before picking them up. "Come on," he said. "Let’s get you home."
She followed him with her head hanging low in shame. But she then opened her mouth to ask: "I still managed to get more than my fair share of cans. What would you like for dinner ? I could make some risotto with what I got or…?"
Joel didn’t respond at first, just kept walking, his eyes scanning their surroundings as he led her back toward the safe zone. Lace bit her lip, starting to think he’d ignore her altogether. But after a few moments, he muttered, "Risotto, huh ? Fancy for the apocalypse."
She smiled, a little relieved he’d answered. "Hey, even the end of the world deserves a good meal every now and then. I’ll make it worth your while."
Joel scoffed, though she caught the slight softening at the corners of his mouth. "Long as it’s edible."
They walked the rest of the way in silence until they reached her doorstep. Joel glanced at the supplies she held and then at her, his expression unreadable. "Just…be careful next time," he said, his voice softer than she expected. "You won’t always get this lucky."
She nodded, still feeling a hint of guilt. "I know. Thanks again, Joel."
He shrugged, averting his gaze. "Get inside. I’ll come by later to check if that ‘risotto’ of yours is any good."
With that, he turned and started to leave, but not before she called after him, a spark of hope in her voice. "Bring your appetite !"
…She almost facepalmed herself.
He didn’t look back, but she could’ve sworn she saw his shoulders relax as he walked away.
