Mumbo's fun and totally awesome adventure in Beta
Day 10
Mumbo has a plan to get to the Farlands.
He needs to make a portal and travel using the Nether, reaching the Farlands in the overworld would surely take years ... He still doesn't know if the Nether exists yet. He... He's tired and desperate and if the nether portal doesn't work he's going to lay down and cry...
...
No, he won't because It's going to work, he's not going to take time building a base or doing anything else, he's going straight to strip mining and he's going to get a diamond pickaxe.
Day 12
Mumbo is ready, flint and still in his hand and a diamond pickaxe on the other he breathes in and-
"Oh thank heavens, it works"
Mumbo steps into the portal, the warm dry air of the Nether envelops him.
...
He's going to mine the portal so he can build another if he needs to.
Day 14
This is the second day of traveling trough the Nether. Mumbo has never quite liked this dimension, It makes him unconfortable... It's even worse then usual, this version of The Nether is completely barren.
... He should have gotten more food before entering the portal, he still has some on him but he's going to have to stop and make a portal to the overworld soon.
Day 17
The overworld air is refreshing, Mumbo didn't think he would miss it so much. There is no time to take it in though, he has to get food.
It's a massacre, cows pigs and chickens, Mumbo cannot help but feel this completely balances out the peace, love and plants thing he did in season 8... At least he should have enough food to last a while.
He walks back through the portal and starts mining the obsidian frame.
Day 29
Everything is so red.
Mumbo used to like red, It wasn't ever his favourite colour but it reminded him of redstone.
...
Mumbo doesn't think he likes red that much anymore.
He still wishes he was doing redstone instead of this though.
Day 35
How is Mumbo still keeping count? He's not sure. It's like he just magically knows what time is it.
If it was any other time he would probably question it but it's not and he has more important things to worry about... he's going to have to investigate it later.
Day 45
... He's almost out of food again, it should have lasted way longer then this but Mumbo was hungry and very stressed which did not help the hunger.
Point is, he's going to have to go back to to the overworld.
Day 67
Something is watching Mumbo. He can't explain but he feels the weight of eyes on his back.
Surprisingly he doesn't mind it, It's...well, Mumbo feels weird for thinking it but the feeling reminds me of hanging out with Grian back on Hermitcraft.
It's familiar and now that he's alone he appreciates familiarity.
Ugh, he really sounded like an old man there. If Gem was here she would have made a comment about not beating the grandpa allegations or something.
...
Mumbo feels very lonely right now.
Day 88
"Hey? Uh hello mate? I can feel you watching me?"
"..."
"I can't see you but if you want to keep me company I wouldn't mind. It's really lonely here."
"..."
"... I'm quite desperate?"
"..."
"I think I might be going crazy"
Day 99
Mumbo has been here for almost one hundred days.
He spends the entire day in the overworld, destroying the portal frame each time has completely used up his pickaxe and if he wants to keep going he's going to have to make a new one.
So that's what it does.
Despite having to work in the mines the whole time Mumbo cannot help but feel refreshed.
Mumbo really hates the nether.
Day 123
...
He's not giving up.
No matter how much this world tries to beat him to submission.
He will keep going.
...
Day 137
He misses the entity watching him, It's been a while since he felt that presence.
It disappeared after Mumbo tried to talk to it, did he scare it? He hopes not.
He's still not sure if he made it up or it was real though.
Day 150
Mumbo is happy.
Why is he happy?
The world is vibrating ever so slightly.
He's getting closer to the Farlands.
...
Relatively closer.
They are still very far away.
...
Mumbo knows of a guy who spent years traveling to the overworld to reach them.
...
Mumbo doesn't know how he managed to do that and not go insane.

Mumbo wishes it was that simple
Snippet for Pastverse AU by @blueishspace! If you're not familiar, I recommend checking out the timeline before reading this ^^
Code Fracture - Exposed Fractures
Mumbo had tried many, many different things. There had been countless attempts to revert the glitch and return to his original time, in season 10, back where he was supposed to be.
The time machine was stuck in a closed loop.
The time stone could only transport the user to a time when it existed.
Faith had begun to dwindle amongst those who were sent back. Tango had pretty much accepted that it would never happen, and gone to focus on his projects. Ren and Pearl, the more recent arrivals, were still willing to try, but weren't quite too involved with it.
And now, it was season 9. There only a few years left before reaching the time where they'd left off. Even if Mumbo were to fix things now, it wouldn't erase all the time he'd spent forcibly living the same things again.
Despite all that, something still dragged him that day into the cave at Grian's base. Was it a faint glimmer of hope that still lived? Or maybe the sunk-cost fallacy had dragged him too far to drop everything now.
"This is Grumbot," Grian introduced. "But..."
Mumbo instinctively tuned out the explanation, having heard it before. This is an alternate Grumbot, from a timeline where Mumbo became mayor, yada yada...
...Wait.
"In this Grumbot's time, you actually lost the election to Scar," Grian continued to explain. "However, he was still made to believe that you did win! So he has no idea what's really happened even back in his own reality!"
It took a few moments for Mumbo to convince himself that he wasn't crazy.
Grian shouldn't have those memories. There was no way that he would know what happened in Mumbo's original timeline of season 7. But the details were far too specific to just be a coincidence, Mumbo thought.
"Hm. So how did you learn that, exactly?"
"Oh, y'know..." Grian paced around the cave. "If you ask the Rift enough questions, the Rift may actually answer."
Trying to ignore Grian's cryptic comment, Mumbo took out a piece of paper and began writing something on it.
(Can you take us to your original timeline?)
He inserted the paper into Grumbot's slot, and pressed all the appropriate buttons.
After a few moments, a new paper came out from a different slot, and Mumbo rushed to grab it.
[YES, BUT IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO PREPARE.]
"Huh, I guess he can." Grian said.
With that, Mumbo had nothing left to do but wait.
And wait.
And wait some more.
Months had passed.
Mumbo finally got an invitation calling him back to that cave. But it was for a different reason, and it wasn't just for him.
A few days before the visit to Empires, Mumbo decided to gather the other Past Lifers to discuss things. Tango seemed the most excited, knowing this time around that he would be getting to see his rancher again.
And this raised in all of them the question: was there a possibility that someone on the other side would be the same as them?
Pearl had died the latest of the group, and she didn't recall anyone from that world being gone as well. There was only a slim chance of it, though most of them agreed it'd most likely be Jimmy if that was the case.
Regardless of what they thought, the crossover came and went, they confirmed that no one else remembered, Christmas passed, and soon enough, it was a new year.
And yet, still no updates from Grian.
In the meantime, Mumbo had occupied himself with building his base. He hadn't been able to finish the vault before, so now he'd been investing a lot more time into it.
When the intervention group came by to stop Grian from being distracted, Mumbo wondered if maybe Grumbot was ready, but Grian had just completely forgotten to check down there. So when he flew away with Scar towards the tunnel bore, Mumbo snuck towards his base and headed down into the cave.
(Hello again, Grumbot.) Mumbo wrote.
The reply came in.
[HELLO MUMBO. IT IS GOOD TO SEE YOU.]
Mumbo picked up the pen again, and thought of what to say next.
(Have you made any progress yet?)
He waited for the next answer.
It felt as though it took longer than normal, even though Mumbo knew that wasn't the case.
Another piece of paper was released.
Mumbo picked it up and read it.
[IT IS COMPLETE. THE PORTAL CAN BE OPENED.]
"Wait, really?!" He spoke out loud to himself, then hurried to write another message.
(Send me in. I'm ready to see it.)
After he placed the paper into the slot, Mumbo began to tap his fingers in excitement, matching the rhythm of Grumbot's sound effects.
[VERY WELL.]
As soon as he finished reading that final message, the rift opened, sending a gust of wind that nearly knocked Mumbo off his feet. He thought about telling the others, but his gut telling him to rush inside got the better of him in the end.
The purple particles surrounded his vision, and Mumbo closed his eyes to brace himself. Once he'd opened them, he would be transported somewhere where none of this had ever happened.
...
...Right?

Double Life-inspired work for @blueishspace's Pastverse AU!
Figured I'd start linking to the timeline for people who don't know what this is about. :P Anyways, here it is!
Code Fracture - Double The Pain
The world was spinning around her. The burning pain of the arrow wounds in her back still felt fresh in her mind.
Pearl had just had one of the worst days in her life.
And now she was reliving her other worst day.
The events replayed like a blur. Martyn took her to the Nether, Scott and Cleo left them.
Surely, it was all just a bad dream, right? Her mind was still distressed over her Past Life death, and this was its way of getting those feelings out. It would be over soon, right?
But then she woke up.
And she was still there.
Alone in the forest, with no one but Tilly by her side.
This was Tilly the First. If nothing else, at least Pearl felt comforted by seeing her there and alive again. But it didn't erase everything else that she felt.
As she stared up at the sky, it finally began to sink in that this was all real. This horrible, terrible nightmare that she was living through, was actually happening. Confusion turned to panic turned to despair.
Was there any way to escape? To stop all this from happening. Out of all the seasons she didn't want to have to do again, it would be this one. At the very least, if she had reacted fast enough on the first day, maybe she wouldn't be alone again.
But it was all just too much. She couldn't even focus on what she was doing. She barely even remembered anything through all the dissociation.
Pearl took a few deep breaths. It was gonna be okay. She'd just had a few bad days, but she would make it through again. It would be fine.
Hoping to clear her mind, she began wandering around the server. She passed by the Ranch, and froze as she saw Jimmy, who was carrying a few goats into a fenced area.
She didn't want to be mad at him. In fact, she was proud of how much he'd changed. Still, it was because of him that...
Pearl shook those thoughts away, ignoring the voice in her head telling her not to help them. As she went to approach, however, she saw Tango making a wall of stone at the end of the enclosure, and explaining to Jimmy that they needed to be natural blocks.
Wait. Since when did Tango know how to do this? Pearl was sure that she had to help them out with getting goat horns last time.
She decided to sit and watch, trying to hide behind their wall. Once their excitement over some goats finally faded, she took her opportunity to approach the two.
"Hey guys," she nervously waved. "Um, I just wanted to ask something real quick, so... could I speak to Tango for a moment?"
"Yeah, what's up?" Tango turned to her. "Ask away, my friend!"
"Umm..." Pearl paused as she saw Jimmy step closer. "...Just Tango. That'd be ideal, I think."
"Hold on, what do you want with him?!" Jimmy spoke up. "And why can't I be a part of the conversation as well?!"
"It's just..." Pearl struggled for words. "It's really important. I need to know where you learned how to get goat horns. 'Cause, you see... I remember—um, I..." She sighed. "It's hard to explain."
Tango's expression seemed to shift slightly. "So, uh... Hey Jimmy, you wanna, maybe, I dunno, go show off to everyone that you've got a horn now or somethin'?"
"What?! No, dude, I don't trust her!" Jimmy argued. "I'm staying with you right here."
Tango turned to look Jimmy in the eyes. "Just trust me, okay? I'll be fine."
Jimmy hesitated, shifting uncomfortably for a few moments before sighing. "Alright, I'll go. Just be careful, dude."
"I will, don't worry." Tango waved as Jimmy walked out of the Ranch, then turned back to Pearl. "So... you remember what, exactly?"
Pearl explained everything. How it all felt like a bad dream. How she'd played a Life Series where the world changed between versions, and how she'd suddenly been brought back to relive the past.
"Wow, I still just can't believe it." Tango said after she was done.
"But... you said that you remembered it as well, right?" Pearl asked.
"Oh no, not that part." Tango held back a snicker. "It's just surreal that you're the third person out, is all."
"DON'T LAUGH AT ME!" Pearl hid her face under her hoodie. "I had a horrible day, and it just keeps getting worse, okay?!"
"Yeah, I know, it's okay." Tango gave her a few slow pats on the back. "I've been there myself. ...Many, many times before."
"So... what do I do now?" She shyly peeked her head out to look at him.
"Listen, I've had to relive several years back here, so at this point, I've come to realize that the answer is... just accept it, there's no other way."
"But—But I don't wanna be stuck back here! These were some of the worst days of my life, y'know!"
Tango paused, looked away, and sighed. "I know. I've had to go through some of mine as well. Just know, being here means you've got another chance. If nothing else, you can at least try to make things right this time."
For probably the first time since arriving back here, Pearl's expression shifted into a faint smile. "When did you become so wise?"
Tango cleared his throat and adjusted himself. "Like I said, been here for years. So anyway! I've got my own goals to get back to, and I'll leave the rest up to you."
"Hey, Tango..." Pearl called his attention as he was about to leave. "Thanks. I needed that."
Stopping and looking back, Tango gave her a thumbs-up before leaving. "...Good luck."

(Shatter the Diamond section 3 p42)
Mumbo: At least use a bit of Pink's, her whole thing is healing.
Grian: Well, that was the plan already though it doesn't work on It's own...ugh, I hate this place, we've done what we had to do here, can we just go?
Scar: I agree, I don't like it here.
Grian: Right, ok we are going back.
*Grian turns towards the exit and you and Scar follow closely behind him*
Section 4: Regent.
(Shatter the Diamond section 4 p1)
*Since the Pink Pearl incident your lives have become much busier. Pink Diamond did tell the others she shattered her pearl and surprisingly they didn't question it.*
*Blue Diamond has alao become a lot more pushy with the idea of giving Grian a colony as of late...and then she stopped, you thought Grian had it under control, that he convinced her it wasn't a good idea...*
Grian: ... Fuck.
Jimmy: PG!
*You turn your head immediately, even though you had that conversation about not needing to censor yourselves a while ago hearing something like this is extremely unusual*
Mumbo: Grian?
Grian: I knew her not mentioning it anymore was suspicious.
Mumbo: What are you talking about?
Grian: Ok, so, everyone listen up.
Scott: What's up?
Grian: So, I'm now stuck with a colony. I was just told about it by the diamond communication channel.
Scott: That's fine. I thought we knew this was going to happen eventually.
Grian: I know, but the later the process starts the more likely it is that the rebellion happens before it can go anywhere.
Tango: And that's not going to work anymore?
Grian: Definitely not.

Here's yet another snippet for @blueishspace's PastVerse AU! This one has direct mentions to my 3rd Life one, so I definitely recommend reading that one before this.
Otherwise, it's just my typical venture of torturing my favourite guy. Can't let him have it too good, y'know? 😌 Anyways, enjoy!
Code Fracture - No One Does It BEST
Who won 3rd Life?
Martyn did.
Following Scar's elimination at the desert siege, Grian blamed the Flower Husbands for bailing on them and strengthened his alliance with the Crastle to seek revenge. However, this team didn't have quite the power as they'd hoped.
Once Grian turned red and was later eliminated by Ren, it seemed as though Dogwarts had won. And that's when Martyn took his opportunity.
In a shocking betrayal, he backstabbed Ren and joined up with the remaining members of the Crastle to take down all of Dogwarts. Then, once he made it to the final three with Impulse and Bdubs, he took them on and conquered the 2v1.
No one else knew, but this all had happened thanks to Tango. All because he decided to save his rancher. And just like that, everything had flipped on his head and the outcome had become almost entirely opposite to what he knew.
But Tango had already had enough time to panic about this to Mumbo after returning to Hermitcraft. And the latter reassured him that many things had changed in major ways already, and nothing bad had come of it.
That was the thought that Tango tried to use to reassure himself as Last Life started. That, and the fact that he did stop Jimmy from becoming the canary, as was his original intention.
And with this coming season, Tango had the opportunity to make things better not just for someone else, but for himself as well. That was his new goal moving forward.
He still formed part of team BEST. But now, he knew what would become of his so-called teammates.
Bdubs was the worst offender of all.
Etho did nothing but excuse Bdubs' actions and throw Tango under the bus.
And Skizz had good intentions, but cared more about "team harmony" than what Tango was feeling.
Tango wouldn't stand for it anymore. This time, he wouldn't let himself be pushed around by anyone. He wouldn't be manipulated into giving away all his lives.
He wouldn't let himself be betrayed again.
This mindset was all that mattered to him through the start of the season. Aside from that, everything played out relatively normally up until day 6 came around.
Oh, that accursed day 6.
The Southlands members had come by during the boogeyman announcement, and BEST went outside to meet and chat with them. Jokingly, everyone piled together on a stack.
From there, everything happened in a flash.
Etho threw a potion. Mumbo placed an End Crystal. Bdubs died. Etho retaliated.
Bdubs came back, now as a red name. He demanded to get a life back. Tango had plenty.
No, not this time, he thought.
"Nope, I refuse! You're not getting it from me!"
Bdubs raised an axe.
At the end of that scramble, there was nothing that Tango could do. The Southlanders did nothing but watch. Even his own team acted like he had it coming for him.
Had anything even changed? Despite all of his extra knowledge, was this just doomed to happen from the beginning? Was there any point if he was always going to get killed in the same way?
Day 6 went on. His team, now team EST, still had that meeting in the secret bunker. The room was emptier than it should've been, and the air was somber. No one said it outright, but Tango could feel it. They blamed him for Bdubs not being there.
Though he'd given away less lives, he was still vulnerable to losing them in other ways.
Tango predicted and avoided Martyn's TNT cart boogey kill, but the latter then resorted to old-fashioned PVP to finish the job.
Tango was on the other side of things when the Wither was spawned by the reds. And he was killed by the Wither.
He ended up on that same mountain. With those same people. Watching the same scene, as Bdubs attacked and killed Lizzie by surprise.
Watching as Grian shot and killed him in revenge. Tango had the opportunity to get his revenge right here both times. And both times, he failed to act.
In 3rd Life, all it took was a small bit of friendly advice, and everything was different. This made Tango believe that he had power for once. And he did indeed hold the power to change someone's fate.
But that someone just wasn't himself.

Code Fracture - First Second Third Life
Grian invited Tango to take part in a new game.
It was called Third Life.
It would be his second time playing it.
And for the first time, he felt control over his fate in it.
Not because he was any better at it, no. His last run before being sent back was his worst one yet, after all. All things considered, he hadn't done too bad in the original timeline for this first season.
But this time, he'd go in with knowledge. Though he didn't remember every last detail, it was safe to assume that just having the general gist of the outcomes, plus his acquired years of experience, might count for at least something.
As the players split off at spawn and the game, Tango went in with a single plan in mind:
Make Dare to Flare at the earliest opportunity.
And make it better this time.
On the first day, he played along, sticking with his group at the village and pretending to react when Grian blew up Scar by accident. And as soon as the factions split off into their own ways, he got to work.
After grinding the materials, he set off to the swamp and began to build. The simple corridor had become more of a wide maze. There were shifting platforms, temporary safe spaces, and chances to get trapped.
He'd spent all of his time on this, to the point where he lost track of what all the other players were doing. By the time he was done, Scar had turned red and the server was on edge. Though it took Tango longer to make the game, he finished at about the same time as the original timeline, since he started earlier.
Thus, Tango announced it in chat, and people came to play. The results of who decided to play and who lost a life were the same, though the number of comments about how fun it was went increasingly up compared to last time.
Just as he went to plan improvements and ways to draw more people in, however, the triple kill happened. The Dogwarts banner was raised, and the server split into two factions. No one cared about little games anymore, especially when it risked their own lives, now more valuable than ever.
Eventually, Tango accepted that his job was complete. He'd achieved his initial goal, and improved upon his past work. With that, he fell into the flow, playing along with the events as though he hadn't already lived them.
Everything from there pretty much the same as it was meant to. Ren and Martyn still tried to convince people to fly their flags, Scar and Grian still prepared defenses after the death of Pizza, and Tango still tried to get along with all sides.
However, when he went to visit the desert at one point, he saw that bunker again as Grian was building it.
Though he hadn't been there before, he knew exactly what would happen there. And in that moment he wondered... What would happen if Tango gave him another chance?
If he could just last a little longer...
If he could avoid the reputation he would get...
As tensions were rising, Tango knew he didn't have a lot of time for this. Before anything major had a chance to break out, he payed a visit to the flower forest.
"Oh, Tango's here." Scott pointed out, grabbing Jimmy's attention.
"Heyyy, how's it going?" Tango greeted with a smile. "Listen, I gotta ask... You guys are with the desert, um, folks, right?"
"We're allied with them, yeah." Scott confirmed.
"As far as we know, at least." Jimmy joined in. "They told us that there's a good chance that they might be a huge conflict coming up soon. So when that happens, we'll do our best to support them. Why do you ask, exactly?"
"I'm just here to tell you..." Tango started. "Don't go there. Like, just don't."
"What?! Why not?!" Jimmy argued.
"Look, I watched those guys set everything up earlier. That place is nothing less than a death trap. And I don't mean for those Dogwarts fools. Especially you," Tango pointed at Jimmy's face, "Mr. Red name, sir. If I were you and I wanted to be safe and alive, I'd stay far away from that place."
Jimmy backed away. "What are you on about, dude?!"
"Yeah," Scott cut in, "Why do you even care if Jimmy's alive so much anyway? Weren't you responsible for one of his deaths?"
"Ummm..." Tango thought to speak, but bit his tongue back.
He couldn't tell them. There was no way he could explain the idea of soulmates to these guys. As far as those two knew, their only soulmate at this point was each other.
That was one of the reasons.
The other was because Tango knew. It took many seasons, but he finally understood the pain of being out first. The knowledge that your time was cut shorter than to everyone else's. The hopelessness of knowing how much you could've accomplished, only to become the server's laughing stock.
"In fact," Scott's voice interrupted Tango's thoughts. "How do we know you're not a Dogwarts spy, just trying to sabotage us from helping our allies?"
Tango sighed. "You know what? Whatever. Believe me if you will, I just came here for some friendly advice."
As he turned around and walked away, he could still hear the faint sound of Jimmy's voice talking to Scott:
"It's okay, I've got an idea. We can watch from a safe distance, then if things get dire, we'll join in."
Tango wasn't sure whether his choice would change anything. But Jimmy seemed to at least have taken the advice to heart, and that was good enough to give him piece of mind as he went to hang out at the Crastle.
"Hey Tango," Cleo greeted as they watched him approach the moat. "What have you been up to?"
"Oh, y'know, nothin' much, just... staying on the sidelines as the server prepares for war! So, business as usual, pretty much."
"Yeah, about that," Bdubs peeked his head through one of the windows, "Impulse has just gone to a meeting at Dogwarts. I think they're about to siege the desert."
"What a surprise!" Tango joked as he stepped inside.
The three of them continued to chat as they prepared extra equipment in case backup was needed at some point. But Tango wasn't fully paying attention to what they were saying.
His mind was only focused on thing, and that was whether Jimmy would stay alive or not.
And a few moments later...
GoodTimeWithScar was shot by Skizzleman
"OH NO!!" Bdubs shouted.
"Scar, no!" Cleo's voice shook.
Tango's blood went cold. "Well, that's not supposed to happen!"

(Shatter the Diamond section 3 p41)
Mumbo: I'm sure you have more powers then that.
Grian: Of course I do, It's- ...how did we even get to this point?
Scar: You were talking about the diamonds.
Grian: Right that so...each diamond has a specialisation and each diamond has an essence and It's used to make gems. You know that room I have which is basically an hot tub? All the diamonds have one like that. Yellow diamond has a sauna, Blue has a pool and pink has this heated room I guess?
Mumbo: ... Are gems made of diamond sweat?
Grian: ...or tears. Or saliva. At least pink can. Probably the others too....but yes.
Mumbo: Ew.
Grian: Gems are not organic and It's magic. Just don't think about it.
Mumbo: Why are we talking about diamond sweat??
Grian: Cause like how pink can heal gems with her tears all the various essences have positive effects on gems. The four essences together were used to heal a shattered gem in the oiginal story.
Scar: Are you going to use this essence thing to try to heal Pink's Pearl?
Grian: Exactly!
Mumbo: Huh.
Grian: Any ideas?

You can bring water to a fountain but- Oh my lord that is a BIG fountain.
Mumbo had many regrets in his life. Everyone has regrets, at least he thinks they do.
Mumbo has many regrets in his life, some keep him up at night.
... This. He can't believe he forgot about this. Season 2 was so long ago and a fountain wasn't really something to remember...but now that he does remember it he can't help but feel embarassed.
He can't believe his first build on Hermitcraft was a small fountain. His first build, what should have been a way to show his skills to the hermits...was a small fountain.
...
NO! He's back in time and he is not going to do that again. He waves Xisuma away from the server spawn and begins his work.
Mumbo is a redstoner at heart, he will always be, but he has learnt a lot in the last decade and he's ready to show it to the world...even if It's a version of the world that is in the past.
His mind is focused, he doesn't need to think about the fact he's alone stuck in the past away from the ones he loves. He just needs to focus on the build, he just needs to use his hands to do something so he places block by block and-
"Oh... I did it"
Before him is a massive fountain. An elevated middle section with three water columns. Around it a lower pool decorated with flowers.
He always worked well under stress, that he always knew.
... Xisuma is not back yet.
... Mumbo really doesn't want to think about his situation, perhaps if he keeps ignoring it it will fix itself.
. . .
Mumbo is going to expand spawn now, if he remembers right they are going to do that anyway. So he might as well do it.
~A few minutes later.~
"Oh my lord, that is a BIG fountain"
"KingHappy! Do you like it?"
The man stands stunned, mouth open.
"Did X build that? How did the two of you do all of this already?"
"Two of us? No, I made this myself mate"
"... What? You???"
The man gestures wildly at spawn.
"Alone???- what are those around spawn?"
"Oh I was trying to make a few custom trees but they didn't turn out quite like how I would have liked"
"... What the fuck is a custom tree?"
The PastVerse
This is the fountain or Mumbo did his first time around.

I just think It's funny how much he changed.

Code Fracture - The War Started By Someone Else (Part 2)
Grian needed answers. Surely he'd misheard Doc, right? Maybe there really was a giant bee with godly lore behind it.
When he landed near his destination, though, Grian got distracted. His face-shaped billboard caught his attention, and along with all those mentions of Tango from earlier, it reminded him of recent events.
Tango had won the headhunt. After a play of impressive foresight where he renamed a pufferfish to "Intruder Alert", he was able to catch Cub when the latter tried to steal his head collection, giving him the time to move his bunker elsewhere. This earned Tango creativity and defense points along with already having the largest number of heads.
"That was several days ago... I suppose it's time I take this down." Grian spoke to himself. "It's getting in the way of the pickle shop."
Grian brought out an axe and began taking down the wooden replica of his head, completely forgetting about his original goal. While he was busy with that, Tango stepped out of his own shop, sighing, before perking up when he noticed Grian's presence.
"Oh, hi!" Tango waved and caught Grian's attention. "Finally remembered to do the cleanup work?"
Grian immediately stopped what he was doing. "Oh, Tango, this is perfect, I was just looking for you."
"For me? Um, is this about the headhunt? Or are you just here for more rockets."
"Well, that last part too... but this is about something else." Grian looked behind himself to confirm that Doc and Impulse weren't looking in their direction. "Let's go inside, come on."
"Woah- okay!"
Grian pulled Tango by the arm and entered Tek To The Skies. It was a massive multi-layered shop, split into sections for different products like rockets, elytras, gunpowder, etc., and filled with interactive contraptions from top to bottom. After taking a lift that launched them straight up to the top level, Grian figured it was safe to begin talking.
"Right, well... I guess I'll take some of these while I'm here." He brought out some diamonds and began looking through the rocket shulkers.
"Oh yeah, I should warn you. Someone replaced everything with hurty rockets instead, so... y'know, buy at your own risk."
"What?!" Grian closed the shulker box and turned back. "Who would do that?!"
"I'm ninety-nine percent sure it was Doc. He's just got something against me, I don't know. Probably has to do with me being Mumbo's prophet and all, but eh."
"Oh, right..." Grian walked back up to Tango. "That reminds me of the other thing I wanted to ask. I was talking with Doc earlier, and according to him, you mentioned the name 'BigB'."
"Ohhh, that, yeah! So, you'd like to learn more about the god of confusion, I suppose?"
"I'm interested in how much you know about him, yes."
"Well, I suppose I could tell you..." Tango turned his back. "Although... I happen to have something I need from you as well."
"Right, of course..." Grian sighed, bracing himself. "What do you want?"
Tango pulled out a piece of paper. "Remember this little prize I won at your headhunt? Let's read it... 'Grian will help you with any prank'. That's what it says. And, well, my shop has just been vandalized and I'm in need of some revenge, so..."
Grian let out a vague semblance of a laugh, feeling a slight sense of relief. "Alright... I take it you're choosing to invoke that card now, then?"
"Well, you see, I just a totally original idea! I will invoke this card, and we could, maybe... I dunno... rob a bank together or something? I know, sounds crazy, right?"
"Where do I start?" Grian said with no hesitation.
The stock exchange heist was pulled off perfectly. Every last diamond block in the vault was replaced with a Grian or Tango head. However, it was not met without retaliation. Things continued to get more complex, and more people got tangled up in the conflict.
In the meantime, Tango also took the time to introduce Grian to Mumbo's cult. Tango was the head prophet and second-in-command, and other members who were in this season included Welsknight, Scar and Cub. It didn't take long for Grian to latch onto to the idea and hop on the bandwagon as well.
Regardless, the server was quickly becoming divided into two factions, though who composed each one was starting to get convoluted. Thus, Tango invited all of the members he believed were on his side, and explained the situation with a helpful corkboard and some red string.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome!" Tango greeted the group. "This is the first meeting of, uh... well, I guess we don't have a name yet at this point."
"Where's Mumbo?" Grian asked. "He's supposed to be the actual leader here."
"He couldn't attend the meeting today," Tango explained, "So, in his absence, I will be leading the discussion. To start, let's summarize what's happening.
"Right..." Grian said. "I think the point where things started to really escalate was when I joined, and that was for the bank heist."
"During it," Tango added, pulling out a book filled with sticky notes, "we also gained some intel about Doc's research. He's written a surprising amount about bees, considering those don't even exist yet."
"What?" Cleo asked.
"Moving on," Tango ignored her question, "...We really do need a team name. How about this? I propose: the M team. Reason being, we all have the letter M on our names."
"Huh? No, we—"
Tango interrupted Grian. "There's Mumbo, ZombieCleo, Mango, Mian, Moe Hills, and iMevin! See?"
The whole room erupted with laughter the longer he went on.
"Right," Cleo cut in. "So that's all of us here, plus our leader."
"Well, that's not all." Tango lowered his tone. "We still have... y'know? Our secret weapon. Our man on the inside, if you're catching my drift. None other than Melsknight, of course!"
"Wait, Wels is with us?" Grian asked. "Oh, I should've know..."
"He is one of the original members of the cult, after all. Been here since even longer than yours truly. Now..." Tango cleared his throat. "Shall we make a plan?"

Mercy of a god p158
Scar: That sounds like them.
Taurtis: Are they still like that?
Scar: Nope! But I xan totally imagine it.
Taurtis: So this was what...a few millennia ago? We were still extremely young gods but I had known Grian for a while at that point...though time is relative, there was a deal with the two watchers of time and space so we were actually living in previous forms of existance- nevermind. Point is Grian had made an empire and Jimmy was his main-
*The void you find yourself in begins to shake.*
Scar: What is happening?
Taurtis: I don't think you can stay here much longer sorry. We'll meet again!
*And just like that you are pulled away*
Mumbo: Scar! Scar! Wake up!

Code Fracture - "A Blast To The Past" (Part 2)
"No, no no, I mean like, the lava pyramid? The gluten? None of that?"
All of a sudden, Impulse went pale, and his pupils shrunk. "Oh... Oh no."
"So you're saying you do remember?" Tango crossed his arms.
"You're with them, aren't you?"
"Um... come again?" Tango tilted his head.
"Y'know, Mumbo! With those guys! He's said to me those exact words you just did!"
"Ohhhh, I see. You guys are pranking me, is that what's happening?"
Impulse clenched his fists, then stepped forward and held Tango by the shoulders. "Tango, this is serious. I don't know what those guys are up to, but I'm worried about you getting involved with them. You can just tell me, I won't be mad!"
Tango shrunk unto himself. "If I may ask... what makes you so worried, exactly?"
"Just answer me one thing." Impulse backed away a little. "If they told you to make someone else disappear and didn't explain why, would you listen to them? That is... if you didn't already help out the first time around."
"WHAA-HUH?! What are you talking about?!"
"You know full well—" Impulse stopped himself and sighed. "You know what? Maybe you should talk to Mumbo," he emphasized the name with disdain, "since he seems to always have the answer to everything. Just... be careful."
Impulse walked back up the stairs, leaving Tango to process what just happened. Apparently, Mumbo knew something about what was going on, but was also associated with a dangerous group that made people disappear.
"This just keeps weirdificating", Tango said to himself, laughing nervously.
Whatever the case, it seemed like his next step was to go to Mumbo's base. Whether the answers or only further questions awaited there, it was his only lead at the moment.
Luckily, the base was right next to Impulse's mansion. The giant sprawling structure covered in ornaments and complemented by complex farms on the side would be intimidating, if not for the fact that Tango had already seen his fair share of megabases over the years.
The inside was even more elaborate, looking as though there was an entire city built within those walls. It took several minutes of wandering around before Tango finally stumbled upon what looked like an ancient office room, where Mumbo sat drinking tea and writing something with a book and quill.
"Ayyy, I found you! After like, an hour or so just in this base."
"Oh!" Mumbo looked up from what he was doing. "How long have you been here?!"
"I think I just told you that." Tango stepped inside the room. "So... if you don't mind, I have a few questions."
"Ah, I see. Are you interested in joining us?" Mumbo got up and started shifting through a chest. "I'll just have you read the member's creed and..."
"Woah, woah, back up a second! I haven't agreed to anything yet! Mainly because I heard that you guys make people disappear, so I'm not so sure about it."
Mumbo turned back to him. "Oh, trust me, it was for good reason."
"But I—"
"Don't. Question it."
Mumbo stared with an intense expression. After a beat of silence, nodded. "...Okay. I won't. But, uh... I just need to ask a little something."
"Okay, well, I'm all ears. What do you need to know?" Mumbo picked his teacup back up and took a sip.
"Um, I'm just curious... would you happen to know anything about a pyramid that's covered in lava, and a group called the Gluten Guys?"
Mumbo spat out his tea and began coughing in shock. "Wait, you—! Oh my goodness, someone else finally remembers!" He knelt down in front of Tango's seat and held him by the sides of the arms. "You have no idea, I've been alone in this for so long! People have made a cult around me, and I've just started accepting it now!"
Tango's face grew a smile, excited about Mumbo's reaction, but also overwhelmed by him. "Okay, alright, let's slow it down for a second here!"
"You're right, sorry." Mumbo got back up on his feet and adjusted his tie. "Wait a second... how do you remember? You didn't the last time I tried bringing it up."
"Um, last time?" Looking back, Tango's brain automatically filled in the blank. It was as though a memory appeared that shouldn't have been there. "Oh, right, you did... But I swear, this time, I was there! I asked Impulse, and he said you told him the same thing!"
"Yeah... that's the problem, innit. I've told a lot of people a lot of things about my memories while trying to get anyone else to remember. How can I know you didn't just hear about it from someone else? Let's see... what else do you know that you can tell me?"
"That makes sense, yeah. Let me think for a second..." Tango paused for a few moments to dig through his mind. He decided to stick with things from Past Life, since that was the most fresh in his memories. "Um... there was a square hole... and a group called the Cabin... something? And I was the boogeyman, but then I failed. And also died."
"Uhhh..." Mumbo thought long and hard. "Did I tell someone else about that stuff? I genuinely can't remember at this point. Do you have anything more... specific, maybe?"
"Huh, well... Oh! The improv group! Inside a, uh- a Pokéball! And there was... a running joke about leprosy, right?"
"Oh, haha!" Mumbo's composure was thrown off. "Right, yeah! Wow, even I'd forgotten that at this point! Okay, well, you've proven yourself. You really are the Tango that I pl—um, the Tango from Past Life."
Tango leaned back and sighed in relief. "That settles it! So now that we know..." He hunched back forward again. "Can you explain what's going on, then?"

Code Fracture - "The War Started By Someone Else" (Part 1)
Grian had just finished stocking up on more concrete and stained glass for his build. His chests were still a mess, and the area was still filled with mobs. All things considered, it was a pretty typical day here on season 6 of Hermitcraft.
As he was about to start making some more progress on his futuristic base, however, he realized that he was low on rockets. Most of the additions he was planning today required flying, so he knew he had to go back to the shopping district to buy some more.
Taking off to the outside of the base, his flying was still a little clumsy, but he was starting to get the hang of it. When he flew over the shops, he could see two people talking in the distance below.
Whatever he was doing could wait, and his curiosity got the better of him. Grian changed his flight trajectory towards iTrade, and landed on the ground next to Impulse and Doc, just barely losing balance for a moment as they turned to see him.
"Um... hello!" Grian awkwardly adjusted himself, pretending like nothing happened. "What are you guys up to?"
"Doc was just telling me about some stuff that he learned from Tango." Impulse explained.
"Ooh, some gossip?" Grian's face lit up. "What is it? I wanna hear it!"
"It's not gossip!" Doc argued. "Well, it kind of is, but it's more then that." He stepped closer to Grian. "You're close to Mumbo, yes? Have you ever noticed something... strange? About how he acts?"
Grian tilted his head. "Not... particularly, no. Depends in what way you're talking about, I suppose. I mean, Mumbo already acts strange on the regular, so it's hard to tell when something's off."
"It's not just him." Impulse joined in. "Tango's changed after getting closer to him. He wasn't the way he is now before season 4."
"Changed... in what way?" Grian's curiosity slowly shifted into concern.
"Well, uh..." Impulse scratched his neck. "It's hard to explain. I can just kinda sense it from how well I know him. ...At least, I thought I knew him."
"This is exactly why I was sharing my findings on it." Doc raised his pointer finger. "From what I have learned, Mumbo has a cult that believes he is a god. And Tango is the 'prophet' who was granted visions of the future."
"Woah, that's sick!" Grian was enthralled by the thoughts. "Why did Mumbo never tell me that he's a god?!"
Impulse shifted uncomfortably before stepping forward. "Don't let yourself be taken in by it, Grian. I don't believe in that kind of stuff."
"Well, what else did you learn?!" Grian asked Doc, ignoring Impulse's warning.
"After numerous attempts at misleading by the cult members," Doc continued explaining, "my hypothesis was such that Mumbo's domain was to be the God of Confusion. To test this, I went directly to Tango and asked him about it."
"And what did he say?" Grian was now completely taken in by the recounting, and was only barely able to hear Impulse sighing in defeat at the back.
"He told me that no, and that the actual God of Confusion is a creature named Big Bee."
Grian could feel the warmth in his face dissipate as his blood went cold at the mention of that name.
Did Tango know about BigB?
Grian was the only Evolutioner on the Hermitcraft server. And he'd rarely ever mention his time there, even to Mumbo. And he most certainly had never talked specifically about BigB to anyone. So how was it possible?
"...Where did you last see Tango?" Grian asked with a serious and pressing tone.
"I think he's at his rocket shop." Doc answered. "I was just there earlier in the day. For, uh... investigation! There was no other reason."
"Um... right. Thanks." Trying to ignore Doc's suspicious behavior, Grian motioned goodbye and prepared for a quick flight over.

(Shatter the Diamond section 3 p40)
Mumbo: Maybe we should see what diamond powers you have.
Scar: Oh yeah! I want to see!
Grian: No.
Scar: What why not?
Grian: The other diamond's powers vary from mind control to making you explode with lightning. I'm not testing it on you. We are literally gods, power is not a problem -
Scar: Come on! We'll be fine. Even if we go poof we'll just come back after a while.
Mumbo: He has a point. Shelby trew lightning at me and I was fine.
Grian: ... Alright. Scar, come here.
Scar: Woo!
*Grian closes his eyes as a weird liliac colored aura manifests around his hand as he points it towards him...
...then what seems to be a small orange light emerges from Scar's gem and jumps onto Grian's open palm*
Mumbo: What was that?
Scar: Woow, that felt so weird...uhhh
Mumbo: What?
Scar: Where did you come from? I didn't see you!
Mumbo: I...was always here?
Scar: Right. Right. Uh...who are you?
Mumbo: Mumbo?
Scar: What!? You look so different! Is this what Grian meant when he was talking about going to a new world?
Mumbo: ... Grian. Did you take Scar's memory?
Grian: Looks like it. Only those after our arrival here though...which makes sense-
Mumbo: Put them back!
Grian: Oh yeah, right.
*Grian grabs the small light and places it back on Scar's gem, it disappears*
Scar: Oh? No! I knew you looked like that. Oh! Grian can steal memories!
Grian: Great, I'm a glorified rejuvinator.

Mumbo's fun and totally awesome adventure in Beta
Day 9
Mumbo has died a lot lately. He was stuck on an island full of mobs for an entire night and every time he died he woke up back at spawn.
"If I ever see Grian again I'm going to-"
An arrow straight to the head, another respawn.
"- I- I'm going to strangle him"
A creeper explodes behind him, another respawn.
...
It's only after a few more deaths that the sun emerges from the horizon and the mobs begin to catch on fire. Now Mumbo can finally rest... except he can't, he's without gear once more and the day is not going to last long enough for him to get what he needs AND rest.
He can't stay in this world, that is clear...but he can't leave either, he tried. He can't even access the end and travel to the hub trough that because The End is not connected yet.
No, he's has to leave the world manually and that means... He needs to walk to the edge of the world by foot.
Literally.
At this point in time his only option is to reach the farlands.

(Shatter the Diamond section 3 p39)
Mumbo: Yes. Yes you do.
Grian: ...darn past me, leaving the loredump to present me.
Mumbo: So?
Grian: So you know the diamonds, big gems. Pink, Blue, Yellow and White.
Scar: And Violet.
Grian: That's me yes but there was no violet diamond in the original story. Us being here is an addition, we are not replacing anyone.
Mumbo: So the diamonds?
Grian: Right. This part is a slightly...loose part of the worldbuilding but the diamonds seem assigned to aspects of sort. Yellow Diamond can destroy, reshape and fix the physical forms of other gems. Blue Diamond can project her feelings onto others. White Diamond can control minds or channel other minds into her own.
Mumbo: So we have body, mind and heart? What about Pink?
Grian: Pink is...complicated. Her powers are a bit of everything. Super anger that explodes, healing, weird dream travel stuff, possession, bringing life to plants, bringing the dead back to life. I think Soul or Life is the uh best way to categorize it.
Scar: What about you?
Grian: ...huh?
Scar: You didn't exist in the original story but you are a diamond now. Sooo?
Grian: I ...don't know... I have only used my watcher powers. Not really any of the powers this universe gave me.
Mumbo: Except fusion.
Grian: Well, yes, we did that together... I... What even is there. We have mind, heart, body and soul. What even is left?
