Note
aroace autistic culture is realising that MaYbe the reason why back in childhood your favourite character from Frozen was Elsa is because she is clearly on aroace spectrum and is probably autistic.

The Victors as soldiers (while both Victoria and Elsa as ballet dancers).
Here is Victor VD and Victoria (from CB) in an adapted “Steadfast Tin Soldier” segment, “Piano Concerto No. 2” from Disney’s “Fantasia 2000,” and Victor F and Elsa (from FW) in 1990 animated film, “The Nutcracker Prince.” From both “Fantasia 2000” and “The Nutcracker Prince,” both the Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Nutcracker Prince (Hans) fought against monstrous enemies (The Jack-in-the-Box and the Mouse King), have their feelings for their love-interests (The Ballet Dancer, and Clara) while protecting them, and do not worked well with rodents (mice and rats). Also, both the Ballet Dancer and Clara do ballet dancing (Clara dreamed about traveling around the world and become a ballet dancer).
1) Steadfast Tin Soldier
I loved “Fantasia 2000” (my favorites were “Pines of Rome” and “The Firebird Suites”). I thought V+V would work well as Tin Soldier+Ballet Dancer from the Disney version. After all, both Victor VD and the Tin Soldier had been separated/isolated from their love ones in different world, while both the Ballet Dancer and Victoria still remain faithful for their true love (Victor and the Tin Soldier) while didn’t work well with suitors (Jack in the Box and Lord Barkis). (And yes, folks - Barkis will be the scary Jack-in-the-Box DX).
I know, Victoria looks like Belle from animated BatB, but funny thing is that the Ballet Dancer has similar hairstyle from Belle’s (after all, both the Ballet Dancer and Belle don’t work well with suitors, while both have feelings for their true love (Tin Soldier and Beast/Adam)). Also, I know in CB that both Maggot and Black Widow said to Emily that Victoria “couldn’t” dance or sing, but - BAH what did they know? They didn’t even know Victoria. In my head canon, Victoria always use her imagination to dance with someone (like dancing with an imaginary friend or a ghost) while she’s a fairytale buff since childhood - so, there you go.
Funny thing was that the Steadfast Tin Soldier from the Russian 1976 short film, “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” by Soyuzmultfilm (known for “The Snow Queen,” “The Wild Swans,” and “The Nutcracker”) looks like Victor VD. Now that’s ironic in this art pic.
2) The Nutcracker Prince
“The Nutcracker Prince” is one of my childhood faves - underrated but great version. (I did read the Alexander Dumas version last time. Right now, I’m still reading the Hoffman version (Penguin Christmas Classics)).
Victor F+Elsa both can work well as Hans+Clara from the 1990 version. After all, both Hans and Victor F involved with Science, dealt with creatures (the mice army, and the monster pets), and help/protect/save the girls (Clara and Elsa) from harm (even saving them from falling off the cliff). As for both Clara and Elsa, they both share their sympathy and caring for the boys (Hans and Victor F), have adorable pets (Pavlova and Persephone) as companions… and dealt with monstrous creatures (The Mouse King, and the monster pets).
As for Mr. Rzyzkruski - yes, he’ll be Uncle Drosselmeier (I like that character from the 1990 version). 😄 That would have been like Vincent Price as Drosselmeier in any Nutcracker film or stage. 😆 As for Edgar, he’ll be Fritz, Clara’s brother (and yes, he’ll do something stupid for the poor Nutcracker). And the Wererat will be… the Mouse King?
Both of these drawings were referenced from the screenshots from the films from online. The backgrounds were just colored in color pencils (the second one from the bottom used Posca markers for adjustments). Done with traditional media tools (Pilot Color Eno (Soft Blue) mechanical pencil, art markers, ink pens, color pencils, and Posca markers). Enjoy.

Mates, arranged marriages, from enemies to lovers, etc.
For a long time I didn’t understand why I don’t like relationships between FMC and MMC in various books. I mean, I looking for something, but find nothing but dissapointment. And one day I suddenly saw the light and was even surprised that I had not realized this before.
No matter how hard the author tries to show FMC as a strong, cool, independent woman (you know, in a la medieval society), she is always classically feminine in relationships. And if she is not, the author makes the man extremely masculine, a kind of wild beast that this girl tamed. If she is a poor peasant girl, he is a prince. If she is a princess, he is a king. If she is a queen, he is a god or ancient creature such as death, space or, idk, the primeval void.
I don’t mind reading about toxic, terrible relationships. I like possessiveness and jealousy in books IF IT'S MUTUAL. But in most cases (if not all) I see not hate/love, but the offender/victim. And the victim is a woman.
I guess that's why I almost idolize Jude and Cardan's relationship - they're both toxic. They both can hurt, use, deceive and frame each other, and they have successfully do it throughout story. Jude is considered even more dangerous than Cardan. And let's face it - marriage with Cardan doesn't change anything; Jude would have found a way to force fairies to recognize herself as the Queen if she had been obsessed with the throne.
Why can't a woman be powerful on her own? Why does her development and formation always happen thanks to a man? I don’t call myself a feminist, but I’m so offended when I want to read a story about a female character, her life, difficultes, doubts and worries about herself, but I see how she and the author jerks off to a man.
I already cringe when I see "enemies to lovers" trope in the annotation, because I don’t expect to see real enemies there, a confrontation between two vicious, cunning, powerful personalities. No, with a 95% probability FMC will be just a sassy hater of dresses, getting into trouble, and MMC will be Mr. Dark saving her ass so that he can first kick her and then fuck her.
Joan of Arc was young. Marie Skłodowska-Curie was married. Valentina Tereshkova, Clara Zetkin, Margaret Thatcher, and this list can be continued for a very long time - throughout history, women have climbed into male professions and achieved success. What, their lives and stories are not interesting, not inspiring, not amazing?
Can I have Mulan instead of Cinderella, Elsa instead of the Little Mermaid? Can I have a woman who is as dangerous to a man as he is to her? Can I read about a love where both partners are like mad dogs? Or am I asking too much?

I know there’s been a huge debate going on in the Frozen fandom about how Elsa sent Anna away to go to Ahtohallan in Frozen 2, so I want to voice my opinion.
I understand that Elsa pulling Anna and Olaf into a hug and sending them away in a boat seemed very harsh and sudden, but I personally think that Elsa made the right decision. There was no way that Elsa could have taken Anna and Olaf to Ahtohallan with her. Elsa couldn’t have tamed the Nokk and protected Anna and Olaf at the same time. And even if Elsa somehow managed to get herself, Anna, and Olaf to the banks of Ahtohallan safely, Anna and Olaf just would have frozen at the bottom of Ahtohallan with Elsa. There would have been nobody left to destroy the dam. No matter the outcome, Anna would have gotten herself killed and jeopardized the mission.
Throughout the entire movie, Anna was chasing after Elsa and treating her older sister as if she were a reckless toddler. I love Anna and Elsa’s bond and Anna’s unconditional, undying love for Elsa more than anything, but Elsa’s an adult. She can handle herself. Not to mention that she has magical ice powers. This means that Elsa can do things that normal humans can’t do. Like run into fire and crossing the Dark Sea to Ahtohallan.
When I read the arguments of Anna fans against Elsa’s decision, they seem to take Elsa’s decision to send Anna away as an insult to Anna’s capabilities. This simply isn’t the case. When we argue that it was right of Elsa to leave Anna behind, we aren’t trying to insult Anna. Anna is a very strong, fierce and tough individual. But not having powers means that she has limitations. Like any human would. That’s not an insult. It’s a fact.
Anna was being extremely overbearing towards Elsa and clinging to her like a lifeline. By the time Elsa felt the need to go to Ahtohallan, Anna JUST WOULDNT LET GO. By that time, it was too much for Elsa. Nothing she could say or do would get Anna to stop. As a result, Elsa had to send her away by force. Anna claimed that she didn’t want to hold Elsa back and prevent her from discovering herself, yet that was just what she was doing through her actions.
Going to Ahtohallan was something that Elsa had to do by herself. It was her journey of self discovery. Not Anna’s. Elsa was the protagonist of the story. Anna was an important character and still got development, but this story wasn’t about her. The journey across the Dark Sea and Elsa discovering herself within Ahtohallan’s walls during “Show Yourself” were moments that were very personal to Elsa and important to her story. Anna coming to Ahtohallan would have not only been a logistical issue, but it would have taken away from the story as a whole.
The frozen fandom tends to have a perception where Anna is always the voice of reason, and Elsa is always selfish and misguided. But that’s simply not true. Both sisters are equally flawed in their own ways. Both girls always have good intentions, but they are imperfect, as we all are. In Anna’s case, while she does have a big heart and is understanding of others, her extroverted personality sometimes tends to result in her overstepping other people’s boundaries, particularly those of Elsa, who is much more of a private person.
In the case of the boat scene, Anna overstepped her sister’s boundaries. She was clearly making Elsa feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed by the way she was treating her, when she should have listened and respected Elsa.
Anna’s entire arc in Frozen 2 was learning to respect Elsa’s boundaries and allowing her to become her own person. By saying that Anna was 100% in the right, you are hereby taking away from her own character development.
In conclusion, while Elsa sending Anna and Olaf away by force may have been extreme, it was in the best interest for Anna’s safety and the mission for Elsa to travel to Ahtohallan alone. It was only due to Anna’s own overbearing behavior and her inability to let her sister go that things were escalated to that point.

plot: Disney movies…but you guys are the mc and love interest; fluff!
reader: fem! Reader, Black! Fem! In nanami’s part
characters: gojo (x elsa reader), yuji (x rapunzel reader), yuuta (x belle Reader), nanami (x tiana reader)
warnings: just me and my weird ass mind, mention of killings
(a/n): THIS IS HOW THE JJK FANDOM COPES WITH SHIBUYA. Some of these apply to the princess canon storyline, some of these do not 👍
Tumblr media
✰GOJO
I kinda see a enemies to lovers with him tbh
like he would be so mad that he can’t make snow
and you would be mad that he has infinity so you can’t attack him
basically you n him met bc he was sent to your ice castle to attack you cuz you were causing arendelle a lot of problems… and the village was really mad at you so they called the higher ups to send gojo over
and gojo was shopping and everything in arendelle ☠️☠️ and he met a lotta children there so he asked them if they were close with you and they replied yeah so he told them what you’d done and the children were like “no!!, (name) would never do that :(( and that made him guilty for slacking off so off he went!
he’s not too worried about you so he walked up the mountain, he didn’t wanna teleport cuz he just wanted to take the longest time possible (he’s mean that way)
Gojo also meets Olaf on the way and they have the STUPIDIEST CONVOS EVER.
anws he pulls up to see your castle and he’s like “woah who’s sweet crib danggg”
and then he breaks down the ice door with red
and then he screams “where the baddies at?”
you rush out to see a weird ass man holding Olaf in his hands
so you’re pretty sure this man has kidnapped Olaf
you shoot icicles at him, he dodges
and this continues for an hour or so, until you’re tired so you just ask him to leave
but then he’s like “teach me to make ice girl”
and you (try) to teach him, but you just wanted to make him look stupid and you just laugh at him
gojos heart skips a beat when you laugh…IS THIS A CRUSH??!!!!!! 🐺‼️‼️🤐🗣️🗣️
you guys sit down and talk a lil
and he learns that you were treated as a prodigy as a child and he’s like “girl…me too!!!!”
you two really connect…and then Gojo remembers why he’s here ☠️
he explains the whole “everlasting snow” thig and you feel super guilty
so he teleports with you… as he holds you in his hands bridal style 🤫
you both arrive and the snow has cleared due to “Gojo healing a broken heart 🥺🥺🥺” corny!!!! You two get married Happy Ending
✰YUJI
you guys would be sunshine x sunshine ☹️☹️
ITS SO ADORABLE
Anws y’all met when yuji was like bored after a mission and wandering around the forest where the mission happened
then he feels a HUGE amount of cursed energy behind some vines
he then goes through them to find you tower and he’s awestruck cuz the cursed energy is OVERFLOWING.
and basically he tries to run up the tower??? But he can’t he’s so stupid n silly
and you hear this goofy mf trying and you thought it was mother gothel so you let you hair down
and YOU KNOW WHAT HE DOES????
HE PUTS IT IN HIS MOUTH. AND HE LICKS IT.
you’re extremely grossed out…but eventually he finds out that “oh wait I have to climb the hair”
so then he goes up and he’s knocked out by a pan 😭
he wakes up to find himself tied in hair and he tries to punch though the hair or cut it but it’s too tight
you interrogate him and he explains that he just felt a lotta cursed energy and he thought it was a monster, he then asks if it was because of your stress or sth
you admit that you were under a lot of pressure due to mother gothel always locking you in
he sees a couple curses spawning from this and he points this out, saying that you could just leave if you wanted to
But you say that it’s your mom and he replies with “family wouldn’t control you like that”
man’s then you do the scene where he promises to take you to see the lights blah blah blah
and he acts the boat scene 🥺 ITS SO CUTE
it was at that moment when he realized he’d fallen for u
✰YUUTA
I think that yuuta is kinda like the beast cuz he’s got Rika right? And he’s actually just a nice lil guy BEHIND the monster
anyways when you stumbled upon his lil castle and oooo Rika was REAL mad
she literally k!lls everyone who gets close to “her prince”
which causes yuuta to isolate him from the world cuz he doesn’t want to hurt anyone anymore
but that just caused Rika to get stronger due to his depressive state
anws Rika kidnapped your dad cuz he plucked one of the roses in yuutas garden
and you are here to save him!!!!
you and yuuta communicate through Rika cuz she doesn’t want you “to fall for him”
and she only lets you stay cuz yuuta commanded her not to hurt you and she then tells yuuta about kidnapping your dad
so he asks you to stay to “heal his heart” and he’ll let your dad go
and you agree. For your dear ol pa
you”re exploring the palace and you see a garden with a rose in it and you try to touch it but oh looky here! Rika tries to kill you again for touching it!
you learn from the pots and pans that yuuta’s room is right across yours so you slip letters under his door day and night
and slowly he starts getting better and he passes notes with you as the days go by (Rika doesn’t know ofc. Or she’d be PISSED.)
BUT THEN YOUR DEAR OL PA BRINGS THE WHOLE VILLAGE WITH HIM TO KILL YUUTA 😡😡
and then Rika goes all ape shit and tries to kill everyone from the village
and then yuuta comes out of his room to stop her
and then he kisses you and Rika vanishes :3 yay
happily ever after
✰NANAMI
I like this ship actually
nanami’s abroad to exorcise cursed spirits and he meets YOU. At a restaurant as a waitress
and he doesn’t think of ya much at first but your charming smile and dimples… MAN HES WHIPPED. (I am too) 🤧🤧
and you’re really nice too cuz you are a really good cook and you wanna serve him some of your own recipes in secret (cuz your boss would flip)
and he THINKS ITS SO GOOD!!!!! He actually wants more but he’s a lil shy
anyways you two meet again…but this time nanami’s a frog. He wasn’t careful enough and got turned into one by a cursed technique
and he’s frantic, asking you to kiss him cuz he thought that he could just be kissed by a random person and turn back…and then you turn into a frog :)
he has to get kissed by a princess btw
and you two find mama odie and act out your lil love story as frogs <3 and you stay like that forever
jk, you turn back to human as he kisses you at midnight
and you get to have your own restaurant and he’s so supportive of you!!!!!
But you sometimes overwork yourself a little and he doesn’t want that (even though he sometimes does it too) so you two try to spend more of your time together and it works!
he actually quits the jujutsu world cuz of you. he doesn’t want to get hurt and to see you get sad 😭

Tumblr Blog Complete Masterlist
How do you want to be known on Tumblr?
Elsa
More below...
1- When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played?
It was sometime in 2017, and the first book I ever played was The Royal Romance, Book 1.
2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?
I joined a couple Facebook groups in 2019. I just wanted to discuss stories with others who were interested, as no one in my real life reads Choices. I didn't even know I was entering a fandom. lol I started reading fanfic on Tumblr the following year, but I found Tumblr intimidating, so I was mostly a silent reader. I didn’t start writing and contributing until May 2021, mostly because Open Heart was ending and I was in denial. 🙂
3- How did you pick your blog name?
It’s pretty boring, actually. I’m from NJ, and I write. I wanted it to be JerZwriter, so people would know it is Jer-ZEE-Writer, but that wasn’t doable, so it’s Jerzwriter, and most think it is Jerz-Writer. Oh, well!
4- Pull up the first and last posts in your archive, and tell us about them!
My first post was the first chapter of my Ethan x Casey x Tobias love triangle, Delaying the Inevitable (OH).  It was my very first fanfic and I really didn't think I'd write anything beyond that.  I was so green back then, not only to fanfic but to the fandom as well. I’m really glad that I was naive because I don’t think I would have had the courage to post it if I had, but I’m glad that I did.
My last post was Falling for You, a little drabble I wrote for Tobias x Casey (OH), and it featured a commission by the talented artist @weetlebeetle. It was a light, fun piece that took place early in Tobias and Casey's relationship, and it shows Tobias at his absolute simpiest. Lol
5- Do you write fanfiction, create fan art, or are you one of those really gifted people who do both?
Oh, how I wish I could draw, but I can't.  So, I’m strictly a writer. I may try giving drawing a go again, but I don't expect much to come of it. lol
6- How long have you been creating for Choices and for any other fandoms?
Choices was the first fandom I ever wrote for, and I started in May of 2021.  So, just over two and a half years. I have written a little bit for some other fandoms since that time, but I primarily write for Choices.
7- What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to create for?
Tough question.  I write for Open Heart, Crimes of Passion, and Wake the Dead, and they are three of my favorite stories. I also loved Desire & Decorum, but I never wrote for it.  Though, I’m planning a re-read, and you never know. 🙂
8- Share your first Choices fanfic or fan art that you posted with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were creating it today?
It was the first chapter of Delaying the Inevitable. I was so green when I started that series that I’m sure there are things I would change, but I’m still very proud of it.  That series will always have a special place in my heart.  I’d like to revisit it one day to “clean it up”, it could use some condensing. But I would never change the storyline.
9- What is your favorite piece of fiction or art that you created?
This is such an unfair question. lol The Delaying the Inevitable Series definitely comes to mind, but I’m also very proud of my Eli Sipes prequel stories, A Mother’s Journal, Coming Up Blank, and The End of the World. But Tobias and Casey are my favorite pairing, and I simply love the world I created for them. And while my headcanon for them is my favorite, I cannot pick just one fic for them, and I'm not going to! lol But, I've also written a bunch of AUs for them, and Friends* is one of my favorites.
10- Do you have a fic/art that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to do well but found it could use a little more love?
Yes, to both! The fandom is much smaller today, but back when we were more active, I learned you couldn't predict how a fic would be received.  There are too many to name, but I will say whenever my smut does well (and quite a few of them have), I’m always astounded. lol
11-  If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
This is such a difficult question because I believe the best stories incorporate a little of each, and, as a writer, exploring all three helps spur creativity. Also, my absolute favorite is angst with a happy ending, so there is definitely some fluff in there (and I'm never mad at a little smut being thrown in!) But if I were forced to choose, it would probably be angst.  I think that's where I am strongest, and I just love raw emotion. I think that’s where character development really occurs. I have not written as much angst recently, and I miss it.  Perhaps I need a change in 2024.
12 - Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?
There are definitely parts of me in my MCs and OCs, but I do my best to prevent them from becoming self-inserts.  I'm not as cool as any of them, that's for sure! lol That said, I do find inspiration for my fics in real life, so there is bound to be a little crossover. When using real-life inspiration, I try to change details so that the fiction is not a carbon copy of the real-life event. Normally, by the time I'm done, they're hardly recognizable.
13 - What element of writing/art do you struggle with most? Where do you feel you are strongest?
I struggle most with setting a scene. Dialogue is my strong suit, and that just flows for me. It flows so much that sometimes I forget to describe what's going on around the conversation. I think this is particularly easy to do in fanfiction because so much of the "world" has already been provided for us, so I recognize this more when I'm writing original works.
The other thing I struggle with? Brevity. I know I can go on, and on, and on. lol I've gotten much better at this, but there is still room for improvement.
14 - Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?
(Elsa leaves the room, quietly crawls under her desk, and hides…) YES!!! Far, far too many, and no matter how much I share those posts that say, "You don't have to finish! If you're not feeling it, move on!" I don't believe it! lol I really want to make wrapping them up a priority in 2024.  But I also know writing - particularly good writing - cannot be forced.  So, it's a goal, but I'll only do it if I feel it’s right.
15 - If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to see your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you show them first?
It would depend on who asked.  I’m not ashamed of writing fanfic at all, but if I believed the person would be judgemental, I wouldn't be willing to share.  A few of my friends have read select pieces of my fanfic, and I’ve always received positive feedback from them. I wouldn’t be opposed to sharing more.  What I'd share would depend greatly on the person asking.
16 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing or art? Are there any artists that influence you?
There are many published writers that I admire, but I don’t think they've influenced my writing here. Within the fandom, there are many writers who have inspired me in different ways. There is no way I can ever name them all. But I'd like to give a shout-out to some.
@jamespotterthefirst and @bex-la-get were among the first writers I read when I joined Tumblr. I found their passion for both canon and the worlds they created inspiring, especially as Open Heart was nearing its end and all of us addicts needed our fill. Reading their works helped keep the story alive for me and so many others, and it inspired me to try my hand at it as well. To my shock, they were both so encouraging and supportive of me when I arrived, and I'm forever grateful. Back then, I thought they were rockstars - and they are! But now, they're also friends. I wasn't familiar with @alwaysmychoices from the start, but when I came across their work, I was just blown away.  Weekend with Dr. Ramsey will live rent-free in my head forever, and that headcanon about Charlie calling Ethan the night before she marries someone else. (I faint.) Ohhh, the delicious angst! The way she made me feel what Charlie felt was just mind-boggling, and it encouraged me to really dig into my character's emotions and bring them to life in a more meaningful way.
Early on, I read @utterlyinevitable, and the thing that impressed me the most was how Dom was willing to "write stories that “went "go there.”  They tackled issues that others wouldn't touch.  In their world, everything wasn’t perfect, including the characters themselves. I admired that vision and, frankly, bravery, and it definitely encouraged me to write what I wanted to and not what I felt was expected of me.
More recently, @mydemonsdrivealimo inspired me to explore parts of my MCs that I have not delved into in the past.  In particular, Casey's bisexuality. It can be challenging to represent a bisexual character when they are in a straight-presenting relationship, and you risk alienating readers no matter what you do (looking at all readers here.) So it becomes easier to be lazy and ignore it. But that's a disservice to the character as much as it's a disservice to people living similar situations in real life... like I have many times. Through MJ's writing and our conversations, they've helped me become more aware and do a better job in this regard, and I'm not even sure if they know this - it may totally be news to them lol - but I'm eternally grateful. Now, I feel my girl Casey is free, and OMG, how I love our characters playing together in HC now!
Then there are @lilyoffandoms and @storyofmychoices, who bring joy to all that they touch. Who knew when Lily created a little drabble putting our characters in a new world together, it would end up being one of the brightest fandom spots of 2023? Who knew that so much more would stem from that one work? Seriously, it's been one of the highlights of my fandom experience this year, and it's helped me to find inspiration at times when I felt like it was lost. Thank you both - I am so lucky to have you both here!
There are so many more I could mention, but I'd still forget people and feel horrible, so I want to take the chance to thank every writer in the fandom for sharing their gifts with us. Each of you is an inspiration in your own way; each of you can give someone an idea, and you have no idea where that spark will lead. So, never stop sharing!
17-  Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
Delaying the Inevitable, Friends*, All in the Past, and the WIP What’s Forever For. I also think some of my Ethan x Tobias works would have made for a good sitcom, and how I wish my Tobias x Casey friendship with Bryce x Jensen would be an epic sitcom. The world needs it! lol   (Jensen belongs to @mydemonsdrivealimo.)
19- Do you write original fiction or create non-fandom art?
I do. Mostly shorter stories that will never see the light of day, but also some more substantive works... which will also never see the light of day! lol I wrote a novel-length political thriller some time ago. It would need a ton of work to bring it up to 2024, as the political landscape has changed so much. I also have two original WIPs I've been writing. One is an angsty story about a friendship that's loosely based on a childhood friend I lost to cancer a few years ago.  The other is a polyamorous romance about two best friends who fall for the same person. It's really a beautiful, emotional story. If I like the end result, maybe I'll let it see the light of day... maybe. lol
20-  What other hobbies do you have?
I enjoy theater, and I'm lucky enough to live in the best part of the world to partake in that.  I go to a lot of Broadway, Off-Broadway, and local theater productions. I also love going to concerts - they’re like group therapy! Trust me, I got more out of seeing Noah Kahan and Hozier in 2023 than I did from the entirety of sessions with my therapist - and I loved my therapist. lol
Prior to 2020, I did a fair amount of traveling, and I hope to start doing a little more this year.  But I have to admit, since the lockdown, I’ve become more of a homebody, and I like it, so we’ll see how that goes!
I used to be very involved with activism and advocacy for women’s, lgbtq+, and mental health issues. I still am, but in a different capacity than I was in the past. These issues require people fighting for them, and doing so has always been a huge part of who I am, but it can be draining, and burnout is real. I really reached the end of my rope. So, nowadays, I work as a volunteer for a couple local organizations that really mean a lot to me. I'm not involved in grassroots efforts or taking trips to talk to legislators as often, but I'm helping people on a smaller scale, and that still goes a long, long way.
22: BONUS - tell us anything you’d like (if you want to).
As most of you know, I’m one of the mods here at CFWC, so it was a little weird when my the wheel landed on my name.  But, honestly, it’s happened before, and I've just spun again, even though I am eligible. But this time around, I decided to do it. This fandom really means a lot to me, and I wanted to share a little more about myself and my crazy pixelated people.
I'm truly grateful to everyone in the fandom who does their part to make this a place that many, like me, still see as a place they want to be. We're smaller, it's imperfect, it has plenty of problems, but I am choosing to focus on the good... because there is much more of that than there is bad. So, thank you to each of you... and I hope we all have a wonderful 2024! xo
PS... My header... I know Tobias wasn't technically an LI... which was truly criminal. So, that's what fandom is for, fixing what canon effed up. lol My favorite canon LI is Trystan Thorne (COP). I tried adding their picture to the header alongside Tobias, but it looked terrible, so here I am. :)
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I can't wait to highlight more of you in 2024! :)

Overall though great job Anny! This has been an amazing journey and I can’t wait for the final chapter!

What do you think of the villain couple concept?
Ok, so here’s the thing with this one - I spent years shipping the Black Fairy from Once Upon A Time with the Darkling from Shadow & Bone. I love a good villain couple and before the movie, I would have loved it.
But then we got the couple we got and I LOVE them. I love everything about them. I just regret that they didn’t get enough screen time together, and I regret that they took away the affection. Disney truly thought that no one would ship this older couple, and they were wrong. They released a deleted scene, and it was so full of affection and all I could think was.. THAT is what’s missing. Not Amaya being a villain. Their relationship got no time at all.
After that, I could take or leave the ‘villain couple’. It was a nice idea but I preferred what we got. It’s like the idea of Evil Elsa. Ok as a concept but I could take or leave the idea.
Until I saw numerous comments of “we were robbed”, often from people who hadn’t even seen the movie, plus every rewrite I’ve seen seems to have the concept. Now I find myself hating the concept, to be honest. I have no interest in the villain couple any more, especially because I love and adore the Queen Amaya that we did get. I don’t think that I will ever write Amaya as being “always evil”, it’s just not who she is to me.
TLDR: Write/Read what makes you happy but villain couple will never be for me.

Tumblr media
Summary:
At forty, Emma Swan is living her best life. She's happily single and owns a thriving art gallery with her best friend Elsa. And of course, there's the love of her life, her teenage son, Henry.
Since the divorce three years ago, her carefully curated life has been quiet, peaceful, ordinary. She couldn't ask for anything more. So why does the one guy she ends up falling for have to be the rockstar her son has a poster of on his bedroom wall, whose life is nothing short of extraordinary?

CHAPTER FIVE
"Morning, Em.” Elsa’s voice echoes through the airy gallery as I step into work.
“Morning, Els.” Before I can even make it to my office to deposit my purse, Elsa swoops in, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “All right, spill, already.”
“Spill what?”
“You know what.”
I continue to feign cluelessness, causing Elsa to sigh.
“The deets about Mr. Rockstar.”
“Who, Killian?” I try to keep my tone light and nonchalant, averting my eyes to evade the impending interrogation. “There’s really nothing noteworthy to share. It was just business.”
She observes me with an arched eyebrow.
Ruby, who’s arranging a new display nearby, chimes in with a mischievous grin. “It didn’t seem like just business to me. The sparks between you two were probably visible from space.”
Rolling my eyes in mock exasperation, I scoff, hoping to downplay the significance of our encounter. “It was all just professional curiosity. You know how these musicians can be—always networking.”
“Networking? He bought out the entire gallery,” Elsa reminds me.
“It was nothing.” Ignoring the heat rising in my cheeks, I deposit my purse on my desk and make a beeline for the kitchenette. I need coffee—desperately.
Elsa follows me, relentless in her pursuit of details. “Come on, I’m dying here,” she presses, leaning against the doorway as I pour myself a cup.
“There’s really nothing to tell,” I insist, stirring sugar into my coffee and turning around. “He was interested in art. That’s all.”
She raises an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “Sure, just interested in the art,” she repeats with air quotes and a smirk.
I sigh, knowing there’s no escaping this. “It was a good sale for the gallery, okay? Let’s just be happy about that.”
She doesn’t drop it, but I need a change of subject. I hate lying to her, but even if I told her I had Killian over for lunch, kissed the hell out of him and kicked him out, it wouldn’t matter, because I’ll never see him again.
After realizing I wasn’t interested in continuing whatever it is we started, he probably moved on with some other woman who is much younger and more beautiful. I wouldn’t blame him. He could literally have any straight woman on the planet, so why on earth would he choose me?
I take a deep breath, the memory of that kiss still fresh in my mind. It lingers like the ghost of his lips on mine. His hands on my skin.
I close my eyes as if I could shut away the thoughts. It was just a kiss. One spontaneous, reckless kiss that means nothing. Well, actually it was two or maybe three kisses. The flutter in my stomach betrays me, however, mocking my attempts at denial.
But maybe meeting someone else will help me forget about him.
Ha! Like that could ever happen.
“By the way, what about that guy you wanted to set me up with? Walsh, right?”
Her eyes light up. “Yes, Walsh. He owns that cute furniture shop on Sunset Boulevard.”
As I sip my coffee, trying to listen to Elsa, my mind betrays me, wandering back to yesterday. Killian’s lips, his touch, the little noises he made as we kissed, his ragged breaths, his low groans are still implanted in my head. I can still feel his hands on my skin, taste his lips, smell his cologne. The memory sends a shiver down my spine.
“Em?” Elsa’s voice cuts through my thoughts like a well-sharpened blade, jolting me back to the present.
I look over at her and blink. “Sorry?”
“A date with Walsh? Are you up for it?”
“Uh, sure, I’ll go.”
“Great! I’ll set it up,” Elsa beams.
With the immediate interrogation dodged, I take a moment to savor my coffee and return to the front of the gallery, trying to push thoughts of Killian and the kiss from my mind.
“So, what are we going to do about the empty walls?” Elsa asks, gesturing around, her eyes dancing with amusement. “Killian’s visit sparked a whole bunch of curiosity yesterday. People have been calling and coming in, wanting to check out the art…which we currently don’t have.”
Ruby glances up from her work. “We should have new pieces arriving by the end of the week.”
“In the meantime, we can showcase some of our private collection and maybe do a feature on upcoming artists,” I add.
Elsa nods in agreement. “Sounds like a plan.”
~*~
I stand in front of the mirror, holding up a delicate black dress, my stomach full of knots. I turn around, seeking a second opinion. “What do you think about this one?” I ask Henry, who’s lounging on my bed, scrolling through his phone.
He glances up briefly, narrowing his eyes, before reverting his gaze to his screen. “It’s nice…”
“Really?”
“Yeah, if you’re going to a funeral.”
I roll my eyes but can’t help but smile at his blunt honesty. I turn the dress around and study it from Henry’s perspective. Intricate black lace adorns the fabric, the sleeves flow elegantly and it’s very modest, featuring gentle ruffles over the chest and a high collar at the neck that adds a touch of sophistication. It does look like something I would wear to a funeral.
Come to think of it—I have worn this dress to a funeral. “Alright, Mr. Fashion Critic, what do you suggest?”
He sets down his phone and gets up, rifling through my closet. After a few moments, he pulls out a red dress. “This one. It’s classy but not too serious.”
My mouth falls open as my eyes sweep over the dress I haven’t worn in years. I actually forgot it was hanging in my closet. I take the dress from him, holding it up against me in the mirror. It has a flowy, knee-length skirt and a strappy open back, adorned with a bow. The draped waist detail complements the plunging V-neck bodice beautifully. Fancy but comfortable.
I look over at him, a smile tugging at my lips. “How did you get to be so smart, kid?”
“Because I inherited my brains from you, duh.”
Now it’s my turn to narrow my eyes. “Okay, what do you want?”
His face breaks into a mischievous grin. “Can I crash at Roland’s tonight? He just got the new CyberStrike.”
“Fine, but you better be ready to go in twenty minutes.”
He cocks his brow. “Mom, we both know you take longer than that to get ready.”
I laugh and shake my head. “Just get a change of clothes around.”
After I slip into the dress and apply some red lipstick, my hair resting over my shoulders in soft waves, I turn my attention to the watch on my dresser. Killian’s watch. The memory of him leaving it behind, whether intentionally or not, sends a thrill through me.
I slip it on, the weight of it comforting in a way I can’t quite explain but, at the same time, sending butterflies in my stomach.
When I enter the living room, Henry’s ready to go, his backpack next to him on the couch as he plays on his phone again.
“Better?”
When he looks up, he gives me an approving nod and a smile. “Much better.” He stands from the couch and grabs his bag. “You look beautiful, Mom.”
“Thanks, Henry.” I give him a side hug. “What would I do without you?”
He shrugs. “Probably get sick of people coming up to you, extending their condolences for your loss.”
I roll my eyes and laugh. “Clearly, you’ve inherited your sense of humor from your father.”
He slings his bag over one shoulder, eyeing my wrist. “Nice watch.”
“Thank you, it was a birthday gift...from a friend.” God, I hate lying to Henry, especially considering Neal lied to us both while he was having a secret affair with Wendy, but how can I possibly tell him the truth?
Oh by the way, kid, I had your twenty-four-year old idol over for lunch and didn’t think to include you. Then I kissed the fuck out of him, but don’t worry, it was a one time thing. And he left his watch behind, probably hoping he’ll see me again. And I’m going on this date with another man while I’m still thinking about the rockstar.
Nope, don’t think that would go over very well.
“Ready to go to your friend’s house?” I ask, changing the subject as quickly as possible.
“So, who’s this Walsh guy again?” he asks as we head out the door.
“He’s someone Elsa set me up with. He owns a furniture shop in town,” I explain, smoothing down my dress.
Henry furrows his brows. “If he’s such a nice guy, then why didn’t he come to pick you up?”
I laugh, shaking my head. “Because I’m perfectly capable of driving myself.”
“I know you are, but I have to meet him to find out if he’s good enough for you.”
My eyes sting a little at that, a wave of emotion washing over me. I wrap my arm around his shoulders as we walk to my car. “I appreciate you wanting to look out for me, kid.”
“Just want to make sure you’re happy, Mom.”
I smile at him. “How about you meet him next time? If there is a next time.”
He grins, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Deal. Just don’t be surprised if I give him the third degree.”
I laugh. “I wouldn’t expect anything less.”
When I drop him off, Henry gives me one last piece of advice. “Have fun tonight, Mom. Don’t overthink it.”
I smile and hug him. “Thanks, kid. I’ll try.”
He gets out, and I watch him walk into his friend’s house. I take a deep breath and head to the restaurant I’m supposed to meet Walsh at, hoping the evening will be a pleasant distraction from the thoughts invading my mind of Killian and that damn kiss. Blair’s is an Italian restaurant not too far from where I live and is close to his furniture shop, so it’s a perfect meet-in-the-middle spot.
He’s already there when I arrive, standing when he sees me, a practiced smile on his face.
“Emma, hi, I’m Walsh. It’s great to meet you.” His handshake is firm, the eye contact steady.
“Nice to meet you too, Walsh.” My voice is polite, but the words feel hollow. We sit, and the small talk begins—a volley of questions and answers bouncing back and forth.
He’s nice enough—handsome, polite, and successful. Closer to my age. In fact, he might be a little older. Yet, as he goes on and on about his furniture shop, my attention keeps drifting.
“Emma?” His voice pulls me back.
“Sorry, what was that?”
“I asked if you’d like to try the wine I picked out.” He motions to the bottle chilling beside us.
“Sure,” I answer, but the taste of red on my tongue doesn’t compare to the thrill of Killian’s lips pressed against mine, the memory sending an unwelcome warmth through me.
“...and that’s when I decided to expand into custom pieces.” Walsh’s eyes light up with enthusiasm. “You wouldn’t believe the demand for handcrafted dining tables.”
I nod, forcing a smile. “That sounds...interesting.”
He continues, oblivious to my waning interest. “And then we started sourcing wood from sustainable forests. It’s been a game-changer for the business.”
I take a sip of my wine, glancing around the restaurant. Couples are laughing, waiters are bustling and there’s a general air of warmth and excitement I just don’t feel at our table. I try to engage, but there’s no connection, no chemistry. Not even the initial first date sparks.
Walsh leans forward, his eyes earnest. “What about you, Emma? What’s your favorite kind of furniture?”
I pause, searching for a polite response. “I guess I’ve never really thought about it in detail. I like pieces that are functional and comfortable.”
“Functionality is key,” he agrees, launching into another detailed explanation about ergonomic designs.
I nod along, fidgeting with my napkin, my thoughts drifting to Killian. The excitement, the thrill, the undeniable connection we shared—it’s all I can think about. Every word Walsh says just emphasizes the stark contrast between them. Which isn’t very fair to Walsh. I mean, how can you compete with Killian? You can’t.
“...and that’s why choosing the right wood is so important,” Walsh finishes, looking at me expectantly.
“Absolutely,” I reply, though I’m not entirely sure what I’m agreeing to.
He smiles, seemingly satisfied with my response, and continues talking about his latest project. I glance at my watch discreetly, wondering how much longer I need to stay. We’ve only been here for about fifteen minutes, our food hasn’t even arrived, yet it feels like we’ve been here for an eternity and a half.
Needing a break, I excuse myself and hurry to the restroom.
As I stand in front of the sink, cursing myself for agreeing to this date, my phone buzzes in my clutch purse. I fish it out, a message lighting up the screen.
+44 7779 460726: I can’t get that kiss out of my head. I need to see you again.
My heart skitters, a smile tugging at my lips. The memory of our kiss flashes vividly in my mind, sending a chill down my spine. But here I am, on a date with Walsh, who has been nothing but kind but whom I have no interest in. Guilt twists in my gut as I type back.
Me: Who’s this?
+44 7779 460726: Ha! Cold.
+44 7779 460726: I got your number from the invoice. Hope that’s okay.
I click my tongue and sigh.
Me: Have the pieces arrived yet?
+44 7779 460726: Haven’t been home yet. Hear they look great.
+44 7779 460726: Anyway, about that kiss…
I roll my eyes and throw my phone back into my clutch purse before going to a stall and using the toilet. When I come out and wash my hands, my purse buzzes again.
+44 7779 460726: I know you read my last text. 🙂
I laugh.
Me: I can’t talk right now. I’m going to bed.
+44 7779 460726: No, you’re not.
Me: How do you know?
+44 7779 460726: Because it’s only 7.
+44 7779 460726: Also, you’re not at home.
Me: And how would you know that?
+44 7779 460726: Because I checked.
Me: You stopped by my house?
+44 7779 460726: I didn’t stop, I just happened to drive by a moment ago and notice all the lights were out.
Me: Happened to stop by? Right. 🙄
+44 7779 460726: Fine, I purposely drove by your house.
+44 7779 460726: Your turn to be honest 😁
Me: Stalker
I sigh.
Me: Okay, okay, I’m on a date. Happy?
+44 7779 460726: Am I happy you’re on a date with someone who’s not me? Not in the least. You’re really twisting the knife, love.🗡️💔
Me: Elsa set it up. I didn’t have a choice.
Okay, I did have a choice but he doesn’t have to know I only said yes to the date to forget about him .
+44 7779 460726: Are you enjoying the date?
Me: No, not really. Our food hasn’t arrived and I’m already bored to tears.
+44 7779 460726: Where are you? I’ll pick you up.
His offer hangs in the air, tempting like a decadent piece of chocolate. My heart races at the thought of leaving Walsh sitting alone, but also at the prospect of being whisked away by Killian.
I bite my bottom lip. not even believing I’m contemplating taking him up on his offer. This is ridiculous. I’m on a date with someone and actually considering ditching him for another man. But how often do I get asked out by a rockstar?
+44 7779 460726: Do I have to beg, Swan?
Me: Only if you want to…
+44 7779 460726: Will you go on a date with me? Please?🙏 🙏🙏
I can’t believe what I’m reading. Killian Jones is actually begging me to go on a date with him.
+44 7779 460726: I promise not to bore you.
I laugh. Like that could happen. I'd be entertained simply by getting lost in his eyes. I add his number to my contacts and shoot him my answer.
Me: I’m at Blair’s, 2901 Rowena Ave.
Killian: On my way.
I am so going to hell for this. For lying and ditching a perfectly nice guy for one who is almost half my age. So irresponsible.
I take a deep breath, bracing myself for the awkward conversation ahead. I clear my throat and hurry to the table where Walsh is sitting, my heart pounding in my chest. “Hey, Walsh...” My eyes are wide, feigning panic.
He looks up, concern knitting his brows. “Everything okay?”
“My son, Henry, just called. He went out to eat with some friends and got food poisoning.” I force an apologetic smile. “I have to go, I’m so sorry.”
Walsh’s face falls slightly, but he quickly masks his disappointment. “Oh no, I hope he’s alright. Do you need any help?”
“No, but thank you,” I reply, the guilt pressing down on me. “I just need to get to him as soon as possible.”
I reach into my purse and pull out some money, placing it on the table to cover my share of the food. “This should cover my part. I’m really sorry about this.”
Walsh shakes his head, waving his hand dismissively. “Don’t worry about it, Emma. Go take care of Henry. Maybe we can do this another time?”
“Yeah, maybe. Thanks for understanding.”
Without waiting for a response, I hurry out of the restaurant, my heart pounding with guilt and excitement. I step outside, the cool evening air doing little to calm my racing heart as I scan the street for Killian. I can’t help but wonder if I’m making the right choice, but the memory of our kiss and the anticipation of seeing him again push those doubts aside.
A minute later, a sleek, Audi R8 Spyder pulls up in front of me, its engine purring smoothly.
Killian rolls down the window, his million-dollar smile showing off his brilliant white teeth. “Hop in, love.”
I can’t help but smile, the thrill of seeing him again outweighing my guilt. I open the door and slide into the passenger seat, buckling my seatbelt. The smell of luxurious leather envelops me as he shifts into gear, the vehicle gliding forward with effortless power.
It’s surreal riding in a fancy car with Killian, who looks irresistible enough to eat. He’s wearing a well-fitted black leather jacket over a crisp white button-up shirt, the top few buttons casually undone. His dark jeans are perfectly tailored, accentuating his lean frame, and he’s completed the look with a pair of polished black boots. His silver chain with the skull and crossbones peeks out from beneath his shirt, and he has a few understated rings on his fingers, adding just a touch of rockstar edge to his ensemble. His hair is tousled in that perfectly messy way, and a hint of stubble lines his jaw, making me want to grab him and kiss him and finish what we’d started on Tuesday.
“Nice car.”
“Thank you, love, but I don’t actually own it. It’s a rental.”
I raise an eyebrow, wondering if there’s anything he does actually own. The trailer, the watch I’m wearing, the car. They’re all things given to him or loaned for temporary use. “A rental, huh? I guess being a rockstar doesn’t mean you have to own all the fancy toys.”
He chuckles. “Exactly. Sometimes it’s fun to try different things without the commitment.”
I hold up my wrist, showing him the silver timepiece. “I brought you your watch.”
He looks over and smirks. “It looks much better on you, love.”
As I lower my arm and twist the watch around my wrist, staring ahead blankly, I find myself wondering if his noncommittal approach extends to women as well. My stomach churns at the thought of this being just a fleeting experience, of him moving on to the next woman after he has his fill of me. Am I just another one of his rental toys?
I softly shake my head, thinking maybe that wouldn’t be such a bad thing after all. Maybe I could take a page from his book. Maybe this is exactly what I need right now—a chance to explore, to feel something new, to have this experience without any strings attached, then return to my normal life. My normal, rockstar-free life. I deserve a little excitement, a little unpredictability. And with Killian, it feels like anything is possible.
I glance over at Killian, his profile illuminated by the city lights. He seems so at ease, so comfortable in his own skin. It’s refreshing and a little intoxicating. The pull of adventure, the lure of stepping outside my routine and embracing something exciting and different.
“You look stunning, Swan, by the way. Is that a new dress?”
Heat creeps up my cheeks and I smile back at him. “Thank you, but no, it’s not new. Henry picked it out of my closet, actually. He saved me from leaving the house looking like I was going to a funeral.”
Killian laughs, a deep, rich sound that makes my heart flutter. “Smart kid. I told you, he’s got great taste.”
“Yeah, he does. He was pretty insistent about it, too.”
“Well, I’m glad he was.” His eyes briefly flick over to me again, full of warmth. “You look perfect.”
“You don’t look so bad yourself.” I grin as I reach out, touching his arm.
“Thanks, love.” He tosses me a flirty smirk, placing his hand on my leg over my dress. The touch is very much welcome, but it makes this date all the more real. Too real.
As the car sails through the streets, my pulse quickens, a familiar knot of anxiety tightening in my chest. It dawns on me with an almost physical jolt—I’m on a date with Killian Jones. My heart races, and a cold sweat forms on my palms. This isn’t just any date. It’s a date with a celebrity, someone whose life is so far removed from my own, it feels like I’m stepping into a different world.
I glance over at Kilian, his easy confidence making me feel even more self-conscious. What if I say something stupid or do something embarrassing? What if I trip over my own feet or spill my drink all over him? My mind spins with all the possible ways I could ruin this evening. What if he sees through my insecurities and decides I’m not worth the effort?
“Emma?” Kilian’s voice cuts through my spiraling thoughts, gentle yet concerned. “Are you alright?”
I swallow hard, trying to muster a reassuring smile. “Yeah, just...a little nervous, I guess.”
He pulls the car over to the side of the road, turning to face me fully. His eyes are soft, filled with understanding. “Are you sure you want to go on this date?” he asks gently. “Just say the word and I can take you back.”
I take a shaky breath, my pulse pounding in my ears. “I want this, Killian, but it’s been so long since I’ve been on a date. And now that I am, it happens to be with one of the hottest rock stars in the world, so I’m a bit overwhelmed.”
Killian smiles softly and pulls me close, cupping my cheek in his hand. “Don’t think of me as a rockstar, love,” he murmurs, his voice low and soothing. “I’m just a guy who’s incredibly attracted to you.”
I laugh. “Easy for you to say. You don’t have a kid who has a poster of me on their bedroom wall.”
He arches a brow, his blue eyes glinting with mischief. “I wish I had a poster of you on my bedroom wall.”
I snort-laugh, playfully swatting him on the shoulder.
“Just be yourself, Emma. That’s all I want.”
His words break through the haze of panic, and I take a deep breath, trying to steady myself.
“And if it makes you feel any better,” he adds, his eyes locked on mine, “I’m just as nervous as you are.”
A smile tugs at my lips. “Yeah, that actually does make me feel better.”
He brushes a strand of hair from my face, his touch gentle and lingering. His eyes hold mine, sparkling with desire and tenderness. Without another word, he leans in, closing the distance between us, and captures my lips with his. The kiss is electric, a surge of energy that sends shivers down my spine. My heart races, and I lose myself in the sensation, the world around us fading into oblivion.
His lips are warm and soft against mine, moving with a perfect blend of urgency and restraint. As our tongues touch, the kiss deepens, igniting a fire within me. My hands instinctively find their way to his neck, fingers threading through his hair, pulling him closer.
Just as the intensity builds, Killian pulls away, his breath ragged and uneven. He rests his forehead against mine, his eyes closed for a moment as if savoring the lingering connection. When he opens them, a playful smile tugs at his lips, a mixture of satisfaction and longing.
“If we continue like that,” he murmurs, his voice husky, “we won’t make our reservations in Malibu.”
I laugh softly, my own breath coming in short gasps. “You’re right. We should probably go.”
He gives me one last, lingering kiss on the lips before moving away.
As he pulls back onto the road, I straighten and take another deep breath, trying to focus on the moment. Maybe, just maybe, I can let myself enjoy this without overthinking it. Take it for what it is—a thrilling detour from the everyday, a chance to feel alive and desired.
Once I take a moment to recover from the kiss, I think about the last thing he said and furrow my brows at him. “Wait, you had time to make reservations? We only started texting about five minutes before you showed up at Blair’s.”
A sheepish smile spreads over his lips. “I made them earlier.”
“Oh, and you were sure I’d drop everything and go on a date with you?” I tease.
He chuckles, his cheeks pink as he scratches behind his ear. “I was hoping. I would’ve called you much earlier but we were performing at Rockville in Daytona and then tried to get some shut-eye during the four-hour flight back.”
I nod, understanding the demands of his world. “I get it. Life of a rockstar.” I smirk.
He chuckles, shaking his head. “Aye, it can get pretty hectic. But I’m here now. So, what’d you tell your date?”
“That Henry has food poisoning,” I laugh a bit sheepishly. “It was the best I could come up with on the spot.”
“Well, I’m glad you decided to come with me,” he says, reaching over to grab my hand. “I’ve been thinking about you a lot since that kiss.”
“Me too,” I admit, my heart fluttering at his touch as I thread my fingers through his. “That’s why I agreed to go on the date with Walsh.”
Killian looks at me, lifting a brow. “You were thinking of me, yet you went on a date with someone else?”
I sigh. “I know, it’s stupid, but I was trying to forget you.”
He smirks, though there’s a softness in his eyes. “Forget me, huh? How’s that working out for you?”
I laugh. “Not well, obviously.”
Kilian squeezes my hand gently, his touch warm and reassuring. “I’m glad it didn’t work.” His eyes remain focused on the road, but his thumb strokes the back of my hand in soothing circles.
A smile pulls at my lips, the nerves from earlier melting away as I whisper, “Me too.”

I kinda hate Dreamworks-stans (
No, not Dreamworks films persay, especially the ones I haven’t seen that everyone is so hyped that I do see (The Last Wish, Rise of the Guardians, Kung Fu Panda 2-3). It’s just...
The attitude -some- Dreamworks fans have about these franchises is a real turn off for me. They mostly say only good things about these movies but...they're kinda...snooty? I don’t want another Paranorman situation, is all. Before I go any further I will say, I definitely think Dreamworks films objectively look better than Disney’s modern movies-.Dreamworks’ artists are more at home with cgi where Disney’s fantasy films don’t look or feel right in that medium, compared to How to Train Your Dragon, that is. And yet...
I’ve really never liked Kung Fu Panda as a series. I disliked the first and didn’t feel anything for it all, so I've never watched the second even though everyone assures me it's better. Yeah. I'm sure it is. Part of this is all because of inner-fandom petty nonsense; baby-faced KFP stans were saying Skunk Fu! is a ripoff of KFP. Objectively YES, KFP is a better moviestory but what if I just straight up don't like it or feel obligated to like it ((this debate was always stupid regardless of what franchise was 'better' or 'worse' than the other. The idea of furries doing martial arts is a popular trope in animation cuz different styles or martial arts are even NAMED after animals sometimes.)). Either way, despite it looking cool and having a peacock as the main villain I have no desire to give KFP any attention kind of BECAUSE you all are so obsessed with it being "JUST SO GOOD".
But the thing that really irks me about Dreamworks fans is how obsessed they are with design and aesthitics >> character development and appeal.
While I liked How to Train Your Dragon a lot, I really didn’t like the second movie. That film had WAY too much going on in it. It was overstuffed and gave me a headache. It had no room to develop itself properly and sns I hate the character of Valka. I hate how she’s written to be this actually a loving mother to Hiccup and really loved Stoic deep down. To me, that cheapens her character and her son’s uniqueness for bonding with Toothless if it’s really just that his mom is just like him. I read somewhere that she was actually supposed to be a distant, kind of “wild” character who was more interested in dragons and didn’t feel that natural maternal instinct because not all women are motherly and that’s fine, and now with Stoic changed (and then dead) and Hiccup needing her she’s got to face her past and connect her dragonrider side with her family. No idea if any of that's true but WOW. I would have like that way more. But instead- I found Valka really bland and kind of awfully written, just like the rest of her movie. Oh, but everyone just "LOVED" that movie because Stoic died or whatever. I didn’t feel anything for Stoic’s death despite me liking him in the first film. I thought the second movie was a good story in theory, BUT the execution was so bad I'm sorry. It all went by so fast and so clunk that I didn't actually feel anything for this shocking and dramatic character from the first film at the hand of his son's hypnotized dragon. Believe me, I GET where people are coming from about this scene. Again I get what the emotions were supposed to be. I’m saying I found the storytelling and pacing horrid and it, by virtue, ruined the character(s). Just to add salt in my wound, everyone and their mom seems to love Valka cuz she doesn’t have same-face syndrome like the modern Disney women all have. Again, objectively Dreamworks has a better eye for style. BUT YA KNOW WHAT? I really think some of you are way too locked into this “looks generic/basic pretty woman = bad character” philosophy which kinda makes me want to scream.
Sns Moana, Maribel and Elsa > characters than Valka and that girl from the Croods.
You don’t have to love or even like them or those movies, but I mean objectively I think they’re better written story-wise. To better explain it’s the same logic that badfaith reviewers apply to Illumination: people hate the characters for their made-to-be-appealing designs and grafted personalities as opposed to their actual shortcomings as characters in the writing. Same face syndrome, manic pixie dream protagonists and EVERY Disney movie being about a man and a woman going on a wacky three-day long adventure is annoying, but if the blowback from Wish is any kind of indication, people are not going to love it “no matter what” and Disney-adults aren't sheeple.
I’ll believe fans when they tell me How to Train your Dragon 3 is awful. Yeah, I don't doubt that. Bu,t can you all kindly eff off with the implication that everything wrong with that movie stems from how Toothless’s mate is a pretty girl whitedragon version of him? Can you all shut up about how the 'Light Fury' (stupid name) ruined your life?
I too hate the trope of “girl = lighter and pretty”, but of what I’ve read that’s not the problem with her, character wise. Frankly, given how some of you act, I’m not convinced you would have any of these hang ups about her had she been better designed and not just white-Toothless. From the way some of you sound, it kinda feels like if her design was actually good, you would be stanning her character even after her movie/character turned out to be bad. It's why I also don't trust ya'll when it comes to that Elsa-looking fox girl in the new KFP 4 movie and how 'bad' she looks. Yeah, she DOES look bad...but I don't know by what margin you're talking about.
In the end, where Disney adults are their own kind of hivemind of shallow - believe me, I know - I kinda hate the unself-awareness of Dreamworks fans. They remind me of that side character in Mean Girls who gets the main character to spy on the Plastics because she hates them. They’re their own kind of shallow and mean. I wish they would at least be aware of that.
Also, Jeffry Katzenberg is NOT your friend. He's an AI-advocate and it's his fault Disney made Pocahontas.

Take a Walk: Part 5 of That Familiar Feeling
Tumblr media
Fanfiction_TMNT Bayverse/ 2003 crossover
Author’s note: Part 5 of That Familiar Feeling
Thanks for sticking with me, y'all. I really enjoyed this one. Raph gets some major screen time in this one, and I just adore him. Enjoy!
..........
“Okay, so just to recap,” Sean began, closing his eyes and rubbing his temples. “Canister of mutagen.”
“Ooze,” Splinter corrected.
“Ooze,” Annabelle added.
“Ooze,” Sean stated. “Made you and the turtles who you are today. You named them after Renaissance artists – love that, by the way – and taught them ninjitsu. You fought some guy named Shredder, which honestly, is not the best bad guy name I’ve ever heard,” he continued.
“I once met a guy named the Disemboweler,” Annabelle quipped from the side. She was exhausted, and was currently lying on her back, arms draped dramatically over her eyes.
“Gross,” Sean said, never missing a beat. “Fought him, saved New York, fought some guy named Krang who was trying to open a portal to another dimension – curious about that – and saved New York, and now you defend the city from the shadows.” He looked to Splinter to make sure he hadn’t missed anything.
The old rat nodded, his eyes closed, arms folded, legs crossed. Annabelle would’ve sworn he was asleep, but he kept responding to Sean’s questions patiently.
“And these guys are the same guys who saved you after our Paris incident,” Sean said, directing his question to Annabelle.
“Yup.”
“But we’re in a different dimension so they aren’t the same-same guys?”
“Uh huh.”
“And I pulled you from them when I was working with Jarvis after our separation.”
Annabelle sighed. “That you did.”
“And you decided you’d keep the whole mutant turtle-rat ninja thing to yourself?”
Annabelle sighed, dramatically tossing her arms to her sides and sitting up. “I was hysterical when you found me, Sean. I wanted to find you, but I had a home there with all of them. Would you really have believed me if I told you the truth?”
Sean’s brow furrowed. “I’ve always believed you, Annabelle,” he replied simply.
She sighed again, pulling her knees to her chest, and focusing her eyes on the rug beneath them. “You were with Jarvis for a few months. I was with the guys, Cody, and Master Splinter for over a year. I loved them, and I never got to say goodbye. The mutant thing… it just didn’t feel as important as everything else.”
“They miss you, you know,” Splinter said softly, and Annabelle looked up to see him watching her with fatherly concern. “Perhaps this is a good time to discuss the dreams with my sons – if you are not too tired, of course.”
……….
Raphael grunted as he dodged another of Leo’s attacks. In retrospect, making a sexual reference about Annabelle had been crass and ill-advised. He’d been enjoying how easy it was to rile Leo up, and he’d overstepped. Of course, there was no way Raph was going to admit to that now. No, he was going to win this fight, smirk arrogantly, and then try to keep his smart mouth shut from here on out about Annabelle’s appearance. His sais crashed into Leo’s katanas, and the two growled at each other through clenched teeth.
It was stupid, really. Raph did enjoy brunettes with nice hips, but he wasn’t too picky over hair color. He was partial to blondes and red heads, too. What he really liked were curves, confidence, and a sense of humor. He’d fantasized about his ideal woman over and over, and Annabelle, who he did admit was attractive, seemed far too nice to ever spark his interest. She was giving him maternal vibes when he was looking for a Black Widow.
“This has gone on long enough guys,” Donnie called from the sidelines. He and Mikey had wisely removed themselves from the line of fire, and were ping-ponging between concern and irritation.
“Yeah, c’mon guys,” Mikey added. “It’s late. We’re all tired. Like my girl Elsa said, ya gotta let it go.”
Raph would’ve laughed at that joke if it weren’t for the death glare Leo was sending his way. “No,” he growled, pushing back against Raph’s sais. “It’s a matter of honor.”
Raph could hear Donnie rolling his eyes. “Please. It’s a matter of your hormones, Leo.”
Leo jerked his head to the side to snap at Donnie, and Raph took the opening. He used his momentum to thrust their blades up, and did a hard front kick to Leo’s plastron. Leo was startled by the move, and tied to regain his balance, but Raph had the the upper hand now. He dropped, swiping Leo’s feet out from under him before he could move, and knocked the blue clad ninja on his shell. Raph was on him in a flash, sai poised at his brother’s throat in an effort to keep his older brother down.
“Ya made your point, Leo,” he growled. “Now back off.” Leo narrowed his icy blue eyes at his younger brother, and opened his mouth to reply. Raphael never heard what he said, though. His head swam, his vision blurred, and in a matter of seconds he was slumped over Leo, unconscious.
………………..
“I just don’t understand, Master Splinter. Why Raph? Have I done something to displease you?”
Raph blinked, shaking his head as his vision became clear again. He could hear Leo and Master Splinter speaking, but their voices were somehow...different. He blinked again, taking in the bright room with clean white walls, modern appliances, and a crazy view of the a city skyline.
“What?” He murmured, stepping closer to the window. This didn’t make any sense; if his eyes were telling the truth he was high over a bustling city with flying cars, bright lights, and odd looking creatures everywhere he looked. He caught sight of his reflection in the glass, and blinked again. “Wait…,” he began, backing up slowly. The turtle in front of him was definitely not his own reflection, and yet…
“Raphael? Raphael!” Splinter’s sharp tone caught Raph’s attention and he spun, staring at a Splinter and Leonardo that were not his Splinter and Leonardo.
“I think I’m going crazy,” he murmured, and Leo rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest.
“It’s not that crazy, Raph. We’re all capable ninjas,” Leo said. “I just think I’m better suited to train Annabelle.”
Raphael heard the arrogant attitude in his brother’s voice, and cocked his head to the side, currently forgetting his confusion. “Do ya now?” He asked, sarcasm lacing his words. “And why’s that, Fearless?”
Leo opened his mouth to reply, but Splinter intervened. “Raphael will be Annabelle’s teacher. Leonardo, you will respect the teacher-student relationship, and Raphael,” he said, turning to his son, “You will not disrespect it. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Master Splinter,” they replied in unison.
“Annabelle has overcome much since she came to us, and there is still much for her to work through. I will also be guiding her, but I believe this will be an excellent opportunity for you, Raphael,” Splinter said, resting a gentle paw on his son’s shoulder. “I believe you are particularly well-suited to teach her, my son. She is very angry, and there is a great sense of loss and isolation in her. Recognize this, and it will help you lead her well. Do you understand?”
Raphael looked into his father’s eyes, and nodded. “Yes, Master Splinter.”
His vision got fuzzy again, and for a moment he was worried he might be crying in front of Leo, but it soon became clear that was not the cause. He blinked again, wiping his eyes, and the room around him became clear.
He was in a small kitchen. The appliances were old, but the room was sparkling clean. A small gray kitten rubbed at his ankles, and he bent down to gently scratch beneath the kitten’s chin. “You keep that up and you’ll never get rid of the little fur ball.” Raphael jerked up, hands on his sais as his eyes settled on the same turtle he’d seen a few minutes before; the same turtle he’d seen reflected back at him from the glass window. “Hiya.” The red clad turtle smirked more than grinned, and he arched a brow. “Don’t worry – we’re not really in Mrs. Morrison’s kitchen. Master Splinter just said to picture a place I feel comfortable in, and here we are.” He shrugged, and then grinned as the kitten jumped into his lap. “Heya, Lucy.”
“What...what is this?” Raph asked, eyes still darting around the room.
“Master Splinter calls it a spiritual connection to our other selves,” the other turtle replied, gently stroking the now purring kitten. “Like opening a door previously locked. Mike and Don should expect a visit soon, too, if they haven’t already. We’re a bit on edge, ya see.”
Raph frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. “And I care because?”
His alternate version leaned forward, a dangerous smile sliding across his face. “Because we hear you found our girl.”
…………………
“Raphael? Raphael? Raph, can you hear me?” Leo felt cold panic race through his veins as he leaned over his younger brother. “Raph? Please?” Leo heard the pleading in his voice, the high pitched whine, and under normal circumstances he would’ve hated himself for it, but right now he cared about one thing only. “C’mon, Raph, wake up.”
“Pulse and breathing are even,” Donnie said, meticulously checking his brother’s vitals while Leo forced down his panic.
“He just went limp,” Mikey was explaining to Master Splinter and Sean. Annabelle knelt down next to Leo placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“This is what you did earlier tonight,” she said softly, her eyes never leaving Raph’s face.
“Then this is your fault,” Leo stated, turning steel cold eyes to lock on hers. Her hand eased off his shoulder with the same delicacy in which she’d placed it, but she remained silent.
“Leave ‘er alone.” Raph’s words were slurred as if he were waking up from a deep sleep, and he reached up to rub his face. “Guy can’t take a nap around here without causing a panic.”
“Raph!” Mikey all but lunged at his older brother, and his tackle-hug was met with a bright smile and hearty laugh on Raph’s end. “You scared us, bro.”
“That’s not so hard to do, Mikey,” Raph teased, raking his knuckles playfully across his baby brother’s head.
“Raph, what happened? What did you see?” Leo asked, and his brother finally turned his green eyes towards him. His eyes narrowed a touch, just enough to let Leo know he was unhappy with him, before turning to look at Annabelle.
“Wanna go for a walk?” He asked bluntly.
Annabelle blinked. “… sure. Yeah.”
He gave her a deft nod. “Cool.” Raph gently untangled himself from Mikey, and stood to his full height, moving his head back and forth to hear a satisfying crack, and then leaned down to offer Annabelle his hand. The room went quiet as she gently slid her own hand into his, and he pulled her up.
“Ummmm….,” Mikey began, glancing from them back down to Leo.
“I’m not so sure this is a good idea,” Sean piped in.
“No one cares,” Raph said, his eyes never leaving Annabelle’s, her hand still gently placed in his own.
“I agree with blondie,” Leo said, standing. “What if you faint again?”
“What if you trip on my fist?” Raph asked calmly. Leo caught the quirk in Annabelle’s lips, and Raphael mirrored her grin.
“Blondie? That the best you got, Big Blue?” Sean quipped, crossing his arms across his broad chest, and eyeing Leo with disdain.
“Would you like to see the best I’ve got?” Leo snarled, turning to face the human.
“Leonardo!” Master Splinter said sharply. “That is enough.”
“It doesn’t really matter what either of you think,” Annabelle replied, casting an irritated glare in their direction. “Because the only opinion that matters on this subject,” she turned her full gaze to Leo before she spoke again, “is mine.” She looked over at Sean, her expression softer. “And since you’ve already placed half a dozen tracking devices on me I think I’ll be just fine.” She turned back to Raphael, tightening her grip on his hand. “C’mon, Raph.”
………………
They were out of the lair and deep into the sewer system long before either of them spoke again. “You really okay with your brother putting all those trackers on you like that?” Raph asked. His eyes had remained straightforward the moment they’d stepped out of the lair, but their hands were still gently interlocked. Raph found the heat from her palm oddly comforting like the sun warming his shell on those rare moments in the sun.
Annabelle shrugged. “I mean, normally it would be a huge red flag, but I cannot tell you how many times we’ve gotten separated. Tracking devices are actually quite clever.” She paused. “I need to put some on him.”
Raph shook his head. “Humans.”
Annabelle cast him a side glace and a gentle smile. “Turtles.”
“He’s not a bad guy, ya know,” Raph said. “He’s just not great with people.”
Annabelle frowned. “Who?”
“Leo.” Raph stopped, turning to face her. “I mean, he can be a pain in the shell, and a total tool, but overall,” he shrugged. “Overall, he’s a good guy. Good brother.”
“I know that.”
Raph grinned. “Just wanted to make sure.” He turned, tugging on her hand, and pulling her along after him.
“So where are we going?” She finally asked.
“It matter?”
“Not really. Just curious. I could guess where Donnie or Mikey would take me, but you and Leo… you two always manage to surprise me.” He glanced back at her, and she quickly added, “In a good way.”
He stopped quickly, whirling to face her, and she bounced off his plastron. He quickly tugged her back to him, and this time her free hand pressed against his broad chest. His free hand held her in place, his large hand splayed across her back, and she blinked up at him. “How would you like me to surprise you tonight, Belle?” His voice was low, teasing, and unmistakably flirtatious. He grinned at the blush quickly spreading over her cheeks, and the way she ducked her head, effectively breaking the intense stare.
“Raphael,” she began, and he chuckled.
“He said you might react that way,” he replied, and she glanced up at him in surprise. He had an eye ridge cocked, and Annabelle had to admit it made him look awfully attractive. “So before I go and build up my brother too much I’m gonna ask – you and other-me ever break a sweat doin’ something other than training?”
“Raphael!” She cried, eyes wide, and cheeks even brighter. His grin grew, and then, like a light bulb going off in her mind, she grinned, too. “Other-you? You saw Raphael! You saw my Raphael!” Her smile was blinding, and she jumped up, wrapping her arm around his neck. “You saw my boy! My sweet, sweet boy!” She was laughing, and crying, and he freed her other hand so she could hug him fully. “Is he all right? Is he safe?” She asked, pulling away to wipe her eyes. She seemed as giddy to him in that moment as a child on Christmas morning. “Did you tell him I miss him? Because I do. I really, really do!”
He chuckled, reaching down to muse her hair in a similar fashion as he’d done with Mikey earlier that night. “Yeah, yeah. It was very emotional for us,” he teased.
“Oh, you liar!” She cried, but her voice was so filled with delight Raph couldn’t do anything but match her glee in his own, slightly more retrained manner.
“C’mon,” he said, reaching out for her hand again – that warm, cozy beacon. “We’re almost there. Then I’ll tell you everything.”
“Almost where?” Her voice now held a lilt of excitement and hope he found himself wanting to indulge. Similar to Mikey – equally endearing, but less annoying. Maybe this was what having a sister was like?
“He told me to find you a nice spot,” he turned, grinning again, “to sing.”

The online Demri book is so good!! I've known about Demri for nearly 10 years now but there's stuff in there I hadn't read before, you did a great job. I would be so curious to know more about her flaws, as weird as that sounds. I think she's always come across as a perfect human which makes it feel she was almost supernatural. I have trouble articulating it fully in a short message, because I also know that loved ones would rather not speak poorly of her and want to focus on the good, and that should be respected. But I don't know, I think it would be nice to know about her more 'fully'. It seems alluded to in the book and it made me wonder. Flaws make people more relatable, she's always seemed unattainably perfect to me, even with the darkness and addiction. Anyway, great book, and I hope I explained this with the nuance and tact that I intended!
Hi anon, thank you for your question, it is very interesting indeed. We will first let her family and friends talk about the subject.
One aspect of Demri’s personality, according to Austin [Demri’s mom], was her inability to handle guilt. In Austin’s words, “If she offended you, and you didn’t have a cell phone or anything, she would start calling your house, waiting for you to get home to apologize.”
Kathleen Austin: Her concern for others was far beyond her concern for herself.
Barbara Dearaujo: She was constantly on the run. Not sure it was running scared but running for sure. Maybe she was afraid of missing out or just looking for the next thing to stimulate her. I have no clue what it was but I definitely could not keep up with her and whenever I tried or whoever tried we all would end up just as sick, lost and confused and most of us would tap out. She never tapped it seemed, no matter how horrible the circumstances got she could deal with it. Crazy. I wouldn’t call her suicidal but definitely self-destructive. Poor girl. Such a sad story. Demri always and forever a wild wood pixie.
Fabiola Gonzalez: The beautiful soul of Demri is she never had an ounce of hate in her heart. She loved everyone. She was so unconditional even when she was judged and even faulted on her own self-love. She was a good person. Better to others than she was to herself.
Krista Kay: She also had some rough times and went down a heartbreaking road. She was beautiful and complicated, and unforgettable, and human.
Krista Kay: Want to honor their [Demri's and Layne's] memory? Pursue your dreams and talents, lift up others, and take care of your body and mind.
Keli Lake: Demri is special to me because she inspired my self-confidence. It’s complicated since she lacked it herself. It’s like she gave it all away until she was depleted.
Rob Meiser: She was a good person with a big heart but she was fighting demons like most of us.
Jacque Nakken: She always wanted to make others happy, more than herself.
Elsa Schmolke: It’s all very sad but Demri was certainly loved but just so out of control nobody could help her.
Scott Spivey: Always kindness even when she struggled so hard with her demons.
Mara Wheelan: My dear soul sister, she extracted the truly beautiful parts of my soul and made me unafraid. She brought light into the depths of darkness from within. She loved all my ugliness and glorified my uniqueness.
Chay Wilkerson Moore: Demri was like a beautiful flower stuck in a tornado. She was very sweet, most of the time. Always yelled my name and hugged me, made me feel special, like she did most people. Very strong spirit, very bent on destruction, I don’t know why... [She was] The most powerful pretty little thing, with this profound sense of vulnerability that she seemed surrounded by. A princess in distress. I immediately felt the need to protect her in a brotherly way.
For what we've learnt about Demri trough all these years, and reading what her closest people said about the subject, is that she had a poor mental health. She had an addiction in the first place, an addiction usually is the consequence of a poor mental health. She may also was not very self-confident or self-conscious, she always wished the best for all the others but didn't apply to herself. Like Robbie Williams, sometimes the people that look the happiest, have the worst demons, and with no professional help, it is very difficult to fight them.
Maybe she went to drug therapy and I guess that included mental health therapy. But back in the day that was taboo. Still today it looks you are crazy or insane if you admit you go (or have been) to therapy (and I have been and still go!), so imagine back then. Plus if she didn't have the money nor the support, probably for her it was easier to escape her demons by actually taking the thing that caused them - the drugs.
I always find her story so tragic. So young. With so many people around that cared about her, and still she succumbed to drugs. I suppose is what Jerry Cantrell said about Layne. All the band members and his mum tried to help him, but they had their own struggles as well, and if ultimately he didn't want to be helped... there's not much you can do. I wish she could have let herself help.
The book is here for everyone to read it. Please, take care of yourself, look for help and support if you need it. Mental and emotional health are as important as physical health.

Frozen 2: What Disney Could and Should have Done Better
Let me start by saying, I like Frozen 2. In fact, there are parts of it I love. When it first came out, I really liked it. Now that some time has passed and I’ve had a chance to revisit it, I can see it flaws with a clearer eye.
I’ve said this many times and still stand by it. Frozen 2 should have been Frozen 3. There should have been a movie or two between Frozen and Frozen 2 that really dealt with the character’s relationships. The characters are why we love Frozen, we deserved more than a few shorts and a weak sequel.
Let’s start with what I think was the first mistake of Frozen 2
The Proposal
Kristoff should have proposed to Anna at the beginning of the movie. In the movie tie in book, it claims Kristoff told Elsa he was planning to propose to Anna before the events in Frozen 2. If that is so, then Elsa should have been helping Kristoff get ready to propose during game night. It would have been a great moment to show growth in Elsa and Kristoff’s relationship. There still could have been moments with the ‘voice’ distracting Elsa as they moved about the town.
In Frozen Fever we saw Elsa and Kristoff in a budding ice bros relationship, working together to give Anna a perfect birthday. F2 left us with Elsa and Kristoff feeling like little more than friendly strangers.
FF had Kristoff publicly declaring his love for Anna. OFA it was clear their relationship was much deeper. I’m not saying Anna doesn’t still have fears about relationships, but it’s been three years. And based on the way they acted with each other during the game night scene, they were too close for the Anna to be as insecure about their relationship as the rest of the movie made her out to be.
I think the whole miscommunication storyline between Anna and Kristoff was a bad take on the characters and frankly lazy story writing. It’s the most overused writing trope when trying to cause conflict between characters, especially romantic interests. Hell, we’ve been plagued by it ever since Shakespeake had Romeo off himself cause he didn’t get the memo that Juliet was faking her death.
The trip North should have been Anna and Kristoff acting lovely dovey, as a newly engaged couple would. Stealing kisses, talking about wedding plans, a happiness in spite of what they are heading into. Plus, it would have raised the stakes for things to come.
Let’s talk about Elsa for a moment. Elsa nearly killed herself trying to give Anna the best birthday even, yet we’re supposed to believe she wouldn’t have been involved with one of the biggest moments of Anna’s life? One of the big issues I’ve had with all the Frozen movies and shorts is we’ve never really gotten Elsa’s supportive big sister moment. There was a very small taste of it at the end of F2 on the beach when the sisters reunited, but there needed to be more.
It's always Anna being the supportive one. I want Anna wailing and Elsa holding her, stoking her hair and whispering assurance to calm her. Elsa holding Anna after a nightmare or assuring her that while her fear of being hurt is valid she can’t let it stop her from loving Kristoff, or just slipping up behind her to give her a loving bear hug. That is a character grow moment Elsa desperately needs.
It would have been great if during game night, Elsa and Kristoff had worked out a whole plan where Elsa was supposed to act out a wedding, and when Anna guessed it, Kristoff would get down on one knee and propose. But Elsa was so bad at charades, and the voice distracted her, that Anna couldn’t guess it.
Kristoff proposes anyway. There is a big family moment. I do love the way Anna reacted to Kristoff’s proposal. They got that part right. But even in the movie Elsa’s reaction to the proposal was way too low key. She knows this is good for Anna, she’s happy for her. Goddamnit show it to us!
Elsa could still have left after the proposal because of the voice, and she could have sent Sven and Olaf to bed to give Anna and Kristoff some alone time.
We could still have Anna stopping by Elsa’s room to check on her. But it should have been deeper, with Elsa telling Anna how happy she is for her and how proud their parents would be of her. Give Anna an emotional moment where she doubts that, and Elsa has to BE THE SUPPORTIVE BIG SISTER!
FYI the deleted scene where Elsa shows Anna their parent’s conversation about telling Anna the truth and being proud of her could have bookended this conversation. Cutting that scene was stupid.
The bedroom scene could have still ended with Anna noticing something is off with Elsa and singing her to sleep.
If Kristoff had proposed at the beginning of the movie, then the moment when Anna choses to leave Kristoff behind and follow Elsa would have had a stronger emotional impact.
On a side note, I know they often use other character’s rigging to save time in animation. It makes sense, but when Anna gets irritated with Kristoff, during the wagon ride, and says, “You think I’m crazy?” It’s clearly Jessie from Toy Story’s rigging. To the point, every time I see it, it throws me out of the moment. I don’t see Anna, I see Jessie. There should have been some tweaks to make it more Anna like. Though if they had put the proposal at the beginning, the scene wouldn’t have been needed to begin with.
After the sister’s learn the truth about their mother and before the village scene. There should have been a moment where Anna gets mad at Kristoff for carrying her away from Elsa. Kristoff get mad at her for putting herself in danger. He makes a remark about her not being able to do the things Elsa does. He means magic, but it strikes a nerve from Anna’s childhood insecurities about never being good enough. They end up storming away from each other to cool down.
Kristoff goes off into the woods with Sven, no Ryder. Anna stays in the village. Again, this would have added emotional punch to Anna’s decision to leave Kristoff behind. Plus, it adds to that bookend moment, with Kristoff carrying Anna away from the danger of the fire and later with him carrying her away from the giants. Her realizing his love is true, she can always rely on him, and he trusts her judgment by taking her to the dam without questioning her actions.
BTW Elsa should have tried to get Anna to stay in the village with Kristoff.
Lost in the Woods would still work. It’s Kristoff admitting he’s fears about the proposal, but coming to the realization he doesn’t want a life without Anna in it. Have him return to the village to learn Elsa and Anna left without him. Gut punch.
I loved the Spirits and the way they tested Elsa. That is probably my favorite parts of the movie. It does make since she is drawn to them.
Another reason F2 should have been a later film is the final separation between the sisters. I understand the reasoning behind it, but they never gave us the sisterly moments we wanted and needed leading up to it. The writers/creators blew the separation story, because they didn’t take the time to build the storyline and character growth needed to earn it.
Final thoughts, there should have been more action scenes involving the sisters together. There should have been ice bros moments. Kristoff should have had a bigger reaction to Elsa’s death and return. That should have been a moment where he spun Elsa like he usually does Anna.
All three characters were out of character for much of the movie. Elsa came off as selfish. Anna is far to needy and clingy. Kristoff is clueless.  I still love them, but they deserve a better movie.

Frozen 2 Letter to Disney Animation
((Two years ago, I wrote a letter to Disney Animation about my grievances with Frozen 2, and they recently wrote me back. I will include the response in another post, but since people were asking me what I wrote in the letter, I thought I would post it here. Buckle up, because it is long and unhinged. It also gets really personal, so bear with me.))
Dear Staff of the Walt Disney Animation Studios,
My name is Laura, and I am 33 years old. You probably don’t get a lot of letters from people my age, but my love for Disney movies never wanes as I grow older. I’ve been a fan for my whole life and grew up with the Renaissance films of the 90s. As an adult, Disney is one of my favorite sources of fantasy and escapism, and I love how complex and dynamic so many of your characters are. I actually began this letter at the beginning of 2020, and have been working on it for the past year and a half because I wanted it to be just right. It also required digging into deep emotions that aren’t always easy for me to handle, so that caused delays as well. My original draft was also seven pages long, so I had to condense it.
The reason I am writing to you is to discuss Frozen II. I am a HUGE Frozen fan, and it is my favorite Disney film next to Hercules. Elsa is my very favorite character, for so many reasons. I love that she was a flawed human who had magical powers instead of a stereotypically perfect super-heroine. I also see a lot of myself in her, and have connected with her deeply since I first saw the movie. I share a lot of her traits (like being artistic and introverted), but I also saw a lot of parallels between her story and my own life. When I was a kid, I got picked on and bullied by other kids, so I spent a lot of time alone and isolated. I was very different from everyone, because I didn’t follow trends and was very enthusiastic about my likes. I was also very sensitive and wore my heart on my sleeve, which made it more fun for bullies to target me. Many adults, including my own mother, often told me to not express my feelings or interests so that I couldn't give my tormentors things to pick on me about, so I literally had my own "Conceal, don't feel" instructions. Of course, even when I tried, my emotions were always written on my face and my parents often helicoptered over me trying to help, just like in the flashbacks of Elsa trying to control her powers in her youth.
I also have anxiety and depression, which is a huge reason why the first film resonated with me. I’ve always felt like Elsa’s magical outbursts were much like my emotional outbursts— I try to hold my emotions in, but they build up more and more until I explode, and then I just beat myself up for it and every other mistake I’ve made. Just like Elsa, I have a tendency to be very hard on myself and overanalyze every single thing I do, think, and say. When Jen Lee confirmed on Twitter that "It was important to show anxiety and depression in Elsa," I felt so seen. An openly mentally ill character in a Disney movie? It was a HUGE deal and provided such amazing representation, which is sorely needed because there's so much stigma with mental health. People don't understand depression and anxiety and are so quick to judge, so to have Elsa have those conditions is so very, very important.
Over the past seven years, Elsa has been a huge source of comfort and joy for me, especially during the dark times. "Let it Go" has been a staple song on my life, reminding me to embrace my weirdness and not hold onto the past. "Monster" and "Dangerous to Dream" from the Broadway show are beautiful songs for when my mental illness acts up, because even though they're not the happiest songs, they're still therapeutic to sing. I've often referred to Elsa as my “comfort character," because she's been such a crutch for me for so long. Watching the film, reading fanfiction, drawing/looking at fan art, cosplaying Elsa, etc. was my favorite escape from the real world and from my own head during hard times.
When the sequel was announced, I was beyond ecstatic and had such a hard time waiting for so long, but I knew good stories take time. I ate up every book, comic, or short that was released over the years, because my appetite for Frozen was insatiable, and still is. However, I will be honest, while I did enjoy most of Frozen II, there were some things that left me feeling very let down and even heartbroken, and that is why I’m writing to you. I’d like to clarify that I'm not writing this letter to make demands or hurl insults. I know all of you put your hearts and soul into this film, and I have nothing but respect for everyone who worked on it. This is just a heartfelt, honest letter from a devoted fan who wants to see the Frozen franchise continue to thrive. I want more stories, and I want people to respond to them the way they did the first movie. I want more awards for the creators more good reviews, more success other than profits at the box office. I know I'm not your target audience at 33 years old, but I still hope you will hear my feedback.
I enjoyed most of the movie. The music, animation, scenery, and visual effects were BEAUTIFUL. I liked the implementation of Norse mythology and the lore that was set up, as well as the new characters, even though I feel like they could have used more screen time and development. I liked Anna’s arc, and Olaf’s recaps were hilarious. I adored seeing Elsa interact and connect with animals (like I do), because I always figured she probably didn’t handle them much in her youth, for fear of hurting them. I imagine she would love reptiles, like Bruni, because she probably knows what it's like to be feared and misunderstood. I also enjoyed seeing her heal and grow more confident in her powers, as well as seeing her sassy side. There are honestly a lot of good things to say about the film, and I loved the themes– I just feel like they could have been executed better. I’m so sorry if any of this comes off as rude.
My first issue is with the treatment of Hans, which is probably not something you hear often. (I’ve gotten a lot of judgement and grief from other fans for liking him.) I have always enjoyed him as a character, even though what he did was horrendous and I'm glad he failed. However, I still feel he has a lot of potential as a very dimensional character, and I completely believe he is redeemable. I know the book “A Frozen Heart” by Elizabeth Rudnick isn’t canon, but I feel she did a really good job of fleshing him out. Even from the bits we get on his backstory in the movie, I just feel like he was so desperate to get away from his family that he got carried away, versus just being completely evil and heartless. Whatever his canon backstory may be, it doesn’t excuse what he did, but I still believe he’s not so far gone that he can’t become a better person.
I was so excited when Santino Fontana said in an interview in 2015 that the writers told him they wanted to redeem him, and held onto that excitement for four years. So naturally, during the charades scene in F2, when Elsa called him an "unredeemable monster,” it felt like the writers were mocking those of us who wanted a redemption arc for him. I also don't understand why Elsa danced when she saw the memory of the Duke in Ahtohollan, then waved him off like he was a minor nuisance, but when she saw Hans, she had to break him immediately. Did the Duke not send two men to try to kill her in her ice castle? I feel like the Duke's villainy is often trivialized just to make Hans look worse so that he can be bashed harder. I really feel bad for Santino, because I know he wanted to come back, and frankly, I find it bizarre no one has addressed why he didn’t return, or even mentioned missing him during the press week and premiere interviews. Josh Gad is the only one who has mentioned wanting him back.
Again, I'm not making any demands here, I know you will do with Hans as you please, and I respect that. However, I do hope that you will consider a redemption arc for him again (without killing him, though. Please don’t give him the Kylo Ren/Ben Solo treatment). I know that it would be difficult, since many fans hate him, and it would have to be done slowly to be believable, but I know you have the talent to do it. Villain redemption doesn't happen much in Disney movies, so it could really be a groundbreaking thing to do, and would teach kids so many lessons about forgiveness and not holding grudges, as well as learning from their own mistakes. Kristoff was great because he taught people what non-toxic masculinity looks like, but Hans could take that further and teach them that toxic behavior can be unlearned— that no one is too far gone and that you don't have to be defined by the mistakes of your past. However, it needs to be apparent that it’s not Elsa or Anna’s job to change him— he must do the emotional labor for himself.
My other issue with this film is one that is common amongst the fan base, for many reasons, and that is the ending. This is actually the part of the letter I’ve had to condense the most, because I don’t want to go all Alexander Hamilton on you, so please bear with me. While I certainly understand the motivations behind the decision, to show that love outweighs distance, and the directors were inspired by their children leaving the nest, I still just don’t feel like it was appropriate for this particular franchise (nor was it in-character for Elsa at all). Not only is it a theme that is currently overdone in Disney films (it was also in Ralph Breaks the Internet and Toy Story 4), but it frankly retcons the theme of Frozen. The entire first movie was about reuniting sisters after thirteen years of separation, and then this one just goes to extreme lengths to separate them again. There are so many other ways you could have had the sisters gain some independence and follow new paths without turning Elsa into a nature spirit that lives in faraway woods with people she’s literally known for a day. (Anna can’t marry a man she just met, so why can Elsa live with people she just met?) She didn’t need a new home or personality to grow.
Sure, we’re told that the sisters keep in touch and visit, but we’re not shown. The sisters are still hundreds of miles apart in the last shot, which is what sticks in everyone’s minds. Also, shouldn’t Elsa and the Northuldra have been at the statue ceremony celebrating the coming together of the two lands? Especially since the statue is of Elsa's parents, so why wasn't she there? Even more painful is the fact that the books and magazine comics set after Frozen 2 (most of which have only been released in Europe and Asia) mostly feature Anna, Kristoff, Matthias, and Olaf. Elsa is only in a couple of them, and is barely mentioned in the ones she’s not in. It feels like she’s just a secondary character now, only coming in for occasional cameos, while the focus shifts on Anna and co. This franchise is supposed to be about the sisters being together, not one sister in Arendelle while the other is nowhere to be seen.
Many kids, from what I've heard, are also upset about the ending. Not only have I heard many stories of kids sobbing in theaters, but when I cosplayed Elsa at Katsucon in February 2020, I had a little boy who kept asking me why I "ran away from Anna again." It broke my heart and the only thing that made him stop asking was to tell him I was moving back home, but still visiting the forest. I felt so sad for him. My friend also cosplayed Elsa at a costume party and her friend’s kid started crying about Elsa leaving. I also read that the Elsa and Anna face characters in the Disney parks get asked a lot about the ending too, and Elsa has to say that she visits Arendelle every day to comfort them. Face characters shouldn’t have to comfort kids about the ending of the film their characters are in.
I also don't understand why it was necessary for Elsa to stay in the woods, especially if she can hear the spirits calling to her in Arendelle, and that the Nokk allows her to travel quickly between the two lands. Why couldn't she bring the Nokk and Bruni back to Arendelle with her, and just visit the forest? (Gale and the Rock Giants could come and go as they please.) Couldn’t she have gotten her own place on the fjord, if she didn't want to live in the castle? I understand that the purpose of the ending was to allow Elsa to be free and find her own place in the world, but I feel like giving her a position of divinity and having her move into the forest with people she just met is much too drastic of a stretch, like taking a yard of tape when you only need an inch.
Elsa living in the forest also, unfortunately, sends the unintentional message that people who are different, introverted, mentally ill, etc., like Elsa and myself, don't belong in modern society or with our families, and are better off living away from them (not that indigenous culture is inferior– it's just different). I know that's certainly not the message you meant to send, but it still comes off that way. As someone with a mental illness and relates to Elsa so much, I felt so alienated by the ending.
Of course, the part of it that bothers me most is Elsa's characterization during the entire scene. It feels like everything about her was completely changed to make her fit the ending (which I know was written first.) There was no indication in any short, comic, book, etc. that showed us she was still holding herself back or was unhappy in Arendelle. (Anna literally sings at the end of the Broadway show, “Elsa, you’re free!”) It feels like the first film told us, "Elsa learned to let go of her fears and embrace her true self and powers, and still found belonging with her kingdom and family,” and then the second film tells us, "But wait! That's not who Elsa *really* is, this is her TRUE TRUE self, and now she belongs in the magic forest because of her magic! It’s her destiny!” It’s like her powers have become her entire personality instead of a part of her. I feel like the Elsa I’ve known, loved, and clung to for the past seven years is gone. Of course, I expect her to evolve and grow, but this doesn’t feel consistent with her character. Growth and maturity don’t change your core personality like that. A lot of people, including myself, feel more disconnected from her than ever, because she feels like this unrelatable Christ-like figure on a pedestal, instead of a human with magical powers. She doesn't feel like she's on our plane anymore.
Even the way she talks and carries herself is completely different. She talks so slowly at the end, like an all-knowing goddess as she tells Anna all that she’s learned, and it’s just unsettling. She also doesn’t seem to make her own choices or learn from any of her mistakes. Not only did she tell Anna, "The spirits decided Arendelle should stand with you," which is deus-ex-machina (divine intervention) in a nutshell, but when Honeymaren tells her, "You belong up here!" she just agrees immediately without a second thought. I do like her stepping down as queen, but it should have been presented as her choice, not just because the spirits and the memory of Idunna told her she was fated to be something else all along. (Also, if the issue in the beginning was about her wanting to choose her own path and do more than just be queen, then how is another predetermined fate any better? She's not making her own choices, she's just a vessel at this point for the spirits’ agenda, which takes away her agency.) The trailers before the movie came out made it sound like the story was going to be about Elsa finding a middle ground between her humanity and her powers, but instead it was about how she needed to go too far into her magic because she’s “the chosen one.”
I know it’s just a movie and I shouldn’t be this distraught over it, especially a year and a half later. I actually started therapy the weekend after the movie came out because I knew that my reaction was indicative of much larger problems. While I have been working on those problems and have been doing better, I still feel disconnected from Elsa, and it still hurts. I miss her. She and the other characters have been there for me over the past seven years when real people couldn’t be bothered, and now I feel like my favorites have been ripped away. Again, I am not here to tell you what to do with your movies, nor are you responsible for my mental health, but I still hope you understand and will consider my feedback.
If there are more Frozen stories (I personally would like a Disney+ series, which would allow for more content and development than a movie), I hope that not only does Hans get a redemption arc (and belonging/friendship with the other characters) as I previously stated, but that I get my relatable, flawed, human Elsa back. I hope she’ll move back to Arendelle (with at least Bruni and the Nokk), but of course, still visit the forest frequently and stay close with the Northuldra. She and Anna should definitely explore their heritage more, and I really would love to learn more about the Northuldra characters. I really hope to see a story about her learning to balance her magic with her humanity, to find that middle ground. To have this “Yes, I have great power, but I’m still human” lightbulb moment. I basically just want exploration of the characters as humans, with their strengths and weaknesses, with their good days and the bad, and how they tackle things together, not just by sending letters via Gale Mail. (Especially with the pandemic still happening, seeing these sisters physically together would really lift some spirits. There are enough long-distance sisterhoods in real life, we don’t need them in our fairy tales.)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this still-too-long letter. (I promise, I tried so hard to keep it under three pages, but I failed.) I know that a woman my age should not be this invested in a Disney movie, and you may even be thinking, “This lady is crazy!” (You wouldn’t be wrong.) I also know you’re going to do with the franchise and the characters what you see fit— again, I don’t expect you to cater to me or my wishes. I just love your characters and your world so much and I hate how upset Frozen II makes me. I feel like the ending, as well as the silence from the creators of the film, have just left us fans hanging. I don’t want you to hear the criticism and think, “Oh, well I guess people are sick of Frozen, let’s not touch it again.” I want more Frozen, I need more Frozen. Again, I’m so sorry if I sound rude or demanding. I really hope to see more of my beloved sisters and their friends (including a redeemed prince) very soon. I hope to feel everything good that the first film made me feel. Thank you again for listening to me. I wish you all the very best.
Your Loyal Fan,
Laura
