I got braces yall. 😂 I had them from ages 16-21 but broke my retainer two weeks after the braces came off. And I wasn’t on my parents’ insurance anymore.

Here’s me at my prom with braces.

And here I am in July 2012. My teeth look pretty good.

But some years ago I noticed the gaps on top were getting wider, but my bottom teeth were still straight. So I thought I’d try SmileDirect, which was basically clear plastic retainers you changed monthly as your teeth shifted. You can see them here in this pic.

Anyway, when I finished the regimen, I realized my bottom teeth were no longer perfectly straight. And I was super upset about it. And I started smiling to where you couldn’t see all my teeth. And I hated posted pics when you could see the gap. Not too easy to see here, but you can see my teeth aren’t as straight as they were in the previous pic. (Featuring my then-5yo nephew 🥰)

So, my brother had a whole ordeal with his jaw and dealing with TMJ. And he met with an orthodontist who had a plan that DID NOT involve breaking his jaw and charging $10,000 (yeah the first orthodontist said this). But he had to get braces for about a year before. We inquired about paying for braces outside of insurance (they don’t take mine) and the price was low enough that my Broski offered to foot the bill. After four deep cleanings (one appt for each quadrant basically), I finally got the braces on today! Only 19mo to go! 😂

Fiyero's not salty at Elphaba per se, but damn, sometimes when you read something that quirks your eyebrow, you gotta take a step back and reconsider.

Elphaba didn't exactly have time to do that so can we really blame her?

We can, however, blame the absolute masochist that wrote the Grimmerie.

No but for real, whoever created that spellbook was an absolute troll. Just sheer genie level of manipulation and word-twisting and "you better cross your T's and dot your I's because I can and will exploit every vague unclear word you speak to be as horrific as possible."

now you know the real reason I haven't been obsessively drawing Meleanor, which is that I was in fact obsessively drawing Meleanor but in secret. plus a little background just for fun!

I am. not super happy with her rig; parts of her proved way more difficult than I expected and I very quickly hit the point of "okay, this is a silly fan project and not something that I'm being paid for or has to be really functional, time to MANUALLY KEY ALL THE VERTICES FOREVER". I think the end result came out pretty okay though! just...don't look too close. :')

I recorded some of the drawing part, so I might put that up later! in the meantime I am going to make her do stupid poses for my own enjoyment!

setting pessimism aside to daydream about my ideal bucktommy makeup scenario and i just... keep oscillating between buck extending an olive branch and tommy reaching out first. there's merit in both. yes i'd love for buck to discard passivity and fight for this salvageable relationship — for buck to look tommy straight in the eyes and tell him that his sharp edges and his vulnerable insides don't make him any less deserving of love. that he's not blinded by the excitement of novelty or misguided admiration — even without the full picture, buck has seen enough pieces of the puzzle that makes up tommy's whole to know that he loves the entirety of him, unspoken faults and past sins included. that buck can't guarantee forever but he sure as hell can try to build the sturdy foundation of a shared life based on the hope for more. that sometimes you just luck out on the first draw and there's nothing wrong with good fortune.

but it would also be extremely healing if tommy knocked on buck's door to chase after his own second chance. to say "i want you more than i'm scared of hurting" when buck asks him what's changed in 4 months — because tommy would rather live with scars than be haunted by regrets and what-ifs. because buck is worth the risk of never recovering from having loved him
