I’ve been trying to figure out what exactly I am, and Im struggling because I cant tell if what Im feeling is part guy or just my strong dislike of the societal treatment of women (Im afab). Or even if instead of possibly being a demiguy or nonbinary or a trans dude maybe Im just a tomboy and Im just craving the community that the queer community is?? Im really struggling to differentiate these feelings and figure out what I am, and these feelings all fluctuate too so sometimes Im confident that Im a dude and then other times Im am sure that Im cis and just a tomboy, but I dont feel like anything shifts enough to be what Ive seen gender fluidity described as??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated because gender is so fucking confusing

Well, first of all it’s important to remember that you can 100% be genderfluid between your AGAB and therefore feel cis sometimes and also between other genders. I don’t think there’s a limit to “how much gender” you need to feel or “a big enough of a change” to qualify as genderfluid.

Have you looked into genderflux or fluidflux?

I’ve also seen the term “demicis” which I liked for a while because sometimes I felt cis and then other times I just felt not.

I consider myself genderfluid between my AGAB (a cis girl), nonbinary, and a trans guy almost in a plural way (at one point it was but not as much anymore) and the spaces in between those as well.

Demigenders like demiboy, demigirl, deminonbinary, etc. or girlflux, boyflux, nonbinaryflux, etc. are all valid and we’re created for a reason, and one of those reasons is people questioning like you if they’re “enough”.

Never ask if you are “enough” to qualify. The biggest downfall of the community is others telling people they are not enough. That trans people doesn’t exist and don’t count. That being a person of color excludes you. That you didn’t suffer enough to qualify. Things like that.

What the fuck is gender indeed, it’s whatever you make it. Labels are there for you to use if you feel like they fit you even if YOU don’t fit THEM 100%. No one has the right to ask you about your very specific life details. Whatever you say you are is what you are. Try it on and see how it feels.

aye hello, uhhh so sorry if im just kinda venting this here but honestly im at a point where im not desperate for a label n i was wonderin if thou can help

so as a kid i always identified as a tomboy, wanting to dress, sound, act, etc. n ive always dreamed of myself within relationships as the "guy" in the relationship (hella heterinormative ik but to me at the time i genuinely wanted to act like a guy with a guy in a relationship)

so time goes n here i am questioning boy-girl bigender/trans masc but i keep on going from total desire to boy n being in a mlm relationship to "eh girl ig" in a straight relationship and im so confused because its never constant. like sure i keep my style n i still want to act more like a guy but theres just days where i dont care about it names pronouns appearance etc n it rlly makes me wonder if i am just overthinking it

any advice? currently going as androgyne because it fits as being both a guy n a girl in one but idk about bigender or transmasc

Hello :) when I am at home or with people I know, I feel good being a girl. But when I am in public, I try to hide the fact that I have breasts and I dress like a boy. I like it when people call me a boy and I wish I was a boy at those times. I'm not sure if it's just me being a tomboy or something else.

I found three very specific terms that might apply to you!

Situational Genderfluid or Situational Fluid: Someone who is situationally genderfluid moves between genders based on their environment. As a subsection of genderfluid, it implies a pattern.

Mutogender: A gender that is fluid, and changes depending on the situation one is in. 

Condigender: A gender that is only felt under specific circumstances. can apply to any existing gender such as girl, boy, non-binary, etc. for example, a condigirl may only feel like a girl during specific times or with specific people, a condiboy may only feel like a boy during specific times or with specific people, so on.

And here are some more general terms about shifting genders that may help you:

Genderfluid: Having a gender identity that changes, ex. from boy to girl and back.

Girlflux / Womanflux: When one feels mostly or all female most of the time but experiences fluctuating intensities of female identity. This can be fluid with any other identity.

Boyflux / Manflux: When one feels mostly or all male most of the time but experiences fluctuating intensities of male identity. This can be fluid with any other identity.

Bigender: Bigender people have two distinct gender identities, either at the same time, or at different times.

But that “I like it when people call me a boy” thing is very common with questioning trans masculine people! It’s called “gender euphoria” and is the “opposite” of gender dysphoria. It is basically extreme happiness or joy when people correctly gender you- and it is often the first obvious clue that you are trans! I encourage you to do some self-reflection and further research! Remember that discovering your gender can be hard and take a long time, so take your time with figuring stuff out and feel free to come back to ask more questions if you need to!
