Sam is really an unbelievable actor, just so unbelievable at accessing those depths and with no vanity or fear about going there.

Truly, anons! The Writer's Guild event I went to the other night was actually with a couple of the writers from The Newsreader, Michael included, and they didn't talk a ton about the actors, given it was a writing event, but they really did heap deserved praise on him, Anna and Michelle in particular. One of the things that Michael mentioned too is how Dale was Sam's first time coming back to a character as he'd never done a returning series before, and how much he grew with Dale and how deeply he knew him by the end of the series, which was just really special, and I do think you can see that, particularly in that sequence in the last episode.

you know, sometimes I forget that Twst is actually an isekai that starts with the protagonist getting run over by an inexplicable horse-drawn carriage. and every time I'm reminded is a delight because that's AMAZING.

also. look. okay. there's a lot of very fun stuff in the trailer but I am obsessed with that Crowley surprised pikachu face. me when I spend all my keys and gems literally hours before they announce overblot SSRs and drop the anime trailer:

i do think it's interesting that even when knowing his future on mortis (hello vader foreshadowing to the point of just saying this is going to happen outright), anakin STILL turns to the dark side immediately. the Brother promises peace, and anakin's just like ok bet KNOWING who he is. I know it's to prevent the future he sees, which despite the Father's assurances, the audience knows WILL happen, but it's still telling.

also, love the parallels to RotS of anakin bringing balance to the planet by everyone dying. the Father, the Daughter, and the Son. Granted, he was only responsible for the Son's death, which is ironic in and of itself.

i find anakin to be the most compelling when he is struggling to find his way like in this arc. there is something unmatched about vader foreshadowing, it hits every time for me.

idk if it's fair to blame the chronically online brain (or the expectation thereof from writers) for recent movies being as subtle as a sledgehammer to the temple but i will either way. first the substance and now mickey 17 seem to have absolutely no faith in their audience's comprehension skills and just, hand you the metaphor and then make sure you got it about 80 billion times. maybe it's good to have such an obvious message in these times, especially given people's habit to interpret satirical characters as role models, but when your main antagonist looks about 2 foundation shades away from an snl trump impression it feels like you're just making bad art

Hm... I do not have a good perspective on this, because I've only read an itty bitty bit of The Iliad and I am now about halfway through The Odyssey, but I think that Odysseus is a much more sympathetic character than Achilles.

someone commented on an old post of mine that sonia wasnt fridged bc shes relevant to the plot and i have been thinking about it for an hour bc i dont think thats an actual get out of jail card for that .... also ... what does she do? be raurus way to cement himself as da king? give some half assed advice to zelda, that has no pay off unless you count zelda time reversing a bunch of weapons*, and then immediately dies just so zelda can essentially replace her and make rauru regret he didnt stab ganondorf right when he showed up in their temple i guess ?? (which is questionable on its own imo)

(*its not a good pay off for powers she was suddendly revealed to always have had(tm) and also is only ever used to .... welll, get zelda out of the way back in time, reverse a few weapons and .. idk create a ham fisted way to give the player her gimmick?)

even if she doesnt technically meet the requirements(lol?) to be called fridged like .. she is spiritually at least for how irrelevant and cheapely killed off she was

the thing about the charming siblings is i want to make them tragic. you're perfect, I wish I was perfect. you're allowed to not be perfect. I resent you for being perfect.
