The flowers of Hamamelis mollis (Chinese witch hazel) sparkled in the winter sunshine. This large deciduous shrub produces these strongly fragrant, bright golden-yellow flowers in late winter and the leaves provide yellow autumn colour.

Me, a plant biology student, watching Trump (derogatory) pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement and call for more oil drilling, knowing our top soil is eroding at a rapid pace (and lacking more nutrients than ever) and that climate change will cause disastrous plant pathogens to wreak havoc globally and destroy our crops:

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.
