okay I doubt this will make sense to a good amount of people but I just realised autism (for me) is like playing hockey in figure skates.
You can skate, and you can still play the game with the people around you, but you have to figure out and learn work arounds because the skates are fundamentally different. It may not be different enough to be noticeable to others from a first glance. The frozen pond is the same. The sticks are fine. The puck is a puck. But your movements are jerky because you don’t have the right skates. You try to adapt to the right skates, but it just feels wrong (even if they’re just like your rollerblades, the purpose and environment is different). So when you play with people who have the right equipment, who can use it to the best of their abilities, you seem slower and are fumbling around. Your movements are different, clunkier. You aren’t doing as good but you’re having fun! In some sort of form you are playing hockey, not like the NHL or anything, but you’re having a good time and are playing by the rules set. Maybe though, you get really good at playing hockey in figure skates. But then you get worn out trying to accommodate for the issues you do have, and you have to go skate off to do figure eights or just leisurely gliding.
But with autism, you can’t just nope out and be fine. When you only feel comfortable using figure skates and you play hockey with your family, your younger sibling may mock you for being too clunky. But there’s still an understanding that your skates aren’t just made for that and the workarounds take a lot out. That’s not possible in school or work. So sticking with the skating metaphor, you’re forced to keep playing and your mind is trying to control the body while thinking of your next move and your eyes are on the puck, and next think you know you’re head first in a snowbank.
but this isn’t really a disability, because you can still do it, right?
#IM GOING TO STRESS THE USE OF THE TERM HOCKEY IS CASUAL 2v2 FAMILY OR FRIEND STUFF HERE#Autism#this is entirely my experience alone I don’t expect anyone to get this#Actually autistic#i grew up with a hockey dad but my interest is mainly in watching live games or the aftermath of a bruins game in Boston#If you were to extend the metaphor with competive. You just don’t fundamentally fit with the requirements of the sport. You can’t play#Source: I am autistic and only have figure skates

For the fake fic titles: "Tort Law and Other Aphrodisiacs"
for this ask game! - send me a title and I’ll write a fake fic summary to go with it! 🍓
In the span of six months, Don learns much more than he ever wanted to about what you can reasonably sue someone over in the surprisingly lawless American legal system. In the same six months, he also learns which places have the best breakfast by Sloan’s apartment and the weird trick it takes to get the water in her shower to come out at a normal, habitable temperature. So, it’s not all bad…
[ AKA - Don and Sloan, from Election Night to Patriot’s Day, roughly]
#alternate title: AARON WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT LAWSUIT FROM S2??? WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT???#as someone who tried to write the aftermath of the s2 finale in an AU fic…this would be impossible for me to actually write#thank god for fake fic summaries#had to do my little AKAs because this is my summary style and I like it#for those who don’t know because I’m not sure if this is common knowledge or not#the holiday that coincides with the Boston marathon and allows the whole city to shut down#is called Patriot’s Day#I’ve never lived anywhere else where it was a recognized or observed holiday so it’s possible just a Boston thing???#but like that’s the holiday that the marathon happens on every year in april#which means that’s the day s3 of the newsroom starts!#In case you didn’t know!#wait apparently it’s a recognized holiday in six states???#I don’t know about that bc no one in ct does anything for it#to me it’s a Massachusetts thing exclusively idk#ANYWAY#prompt game#fake fic summary game#ask#firstelevens#the newsroom#don x sloan#sloan sabbith#don keefer#otp: you get me#I did literally nothing with my day but I managed to get this done congratulations to me

I hope you’re taking requests. If not I’m so sorry for springing this on you. But I was rewatching the “prank” Chris and Nick did on Matt. The one with the pictures of Liam Neeson. Where maybe after the prank is over (Y/N) and Matt are in the room by themselves. Things are getting heated with the little make-out sesh lol. But then (Y/N) is kinda like “ Matt I love you but… Liam Neeson is just not really doin it for me rn.” Or she’s like “it’s pretty creepy Matt.” Just something silly about the aftermath of the prank.
— - Liam Neeson is not really doing it for me right now - — M.S - —
A/N: I hope you like this 🫶🏼 A/N (2): This is my work please don’t steal it <3
………………………………………………………………………………….……………………
Matt’s brothers filled his room with a bunch of Liam Neeson’s pictures all over the walls, they bought him shirts, pillows and even a blanket with his favorite actor’s face on them, you may think Matt would hate this but to everyones surprise he loved every detail of the prank. Later than evening all three of them left to Boston, their hometown, for a couple of weeks leaving Matt no time to take out all the pictures off his wall.Right now, after weeks apart, you and Matt were finally spending some quality time together, all alone on the couch, since his brothers weren’t in the house. You were watching a movie for about 30 minutes, the next thing you know, Matt’s hands gently cupped your face as his lips moved against yours, the warmth and familiarity of his touch making your heart race. You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer. The world outside seemed to fade away as you lost yourselves in each other. His lips were soft and insistent, sending shivers down your spine as they explored yours. Your fingers trailed through his hair, tugging slightly, which elicited a deep, satisfied groan from him. The intensity of the moment grew, and Matt’s hands traveled down your back, pulling you even closer until there was no space left between you. You felt his breath quicken against your skin as he moved his kisses from your lips to your jawline, then to the sensitive spot just below your ear. Your own breath hitched, and you arched into him, feeling the heat radiating from his body. Without breaking the kiss, Matt stood up, lifting you with him. You giggled into the kiss as he carried you towards his room, both of you stumbling slightly but too caught up in the moment to care. As you crossed the threshold into his room, you felt your back press against the doorframe, and Matt’s lips trailed down to your neck, his left hand squeezing your boob, you felt on fire. His other hand roamed your sides, exploring every inch of you, and you couldn’t help but let out a soft moan, fingers finding their way to his belt, and just as his lips found that perfect spot on your collarbone, something caught your eye. You pulled back, breathless, and looked around the room, your eyes widening in disbelief. Everywhere you looked, there were pictures of Liam Neeson staring back at you.
“Matt, I love you, but…” you said, trying to suppress a laugh, “Liam Neeson is just not really doing it for me right now.”
Matt sighed, glancing around at the wall of Neesons. “Yeah, I’ve been meaning to take those down,” he admitted, looking sheepish.
“It’s kinda creepy, Matt,” you said, still giggling. “I mean, I feel like we’re being watched by a hundred Liam Neesons. A little of a mood killer.”
Matt laughed, running a hand through his hair. “Alright, alright. How about we move this back to the couch?”
“Good idea,” you said, giving him a quick peck on the cheek before heading back to the living room. “And maybe next time, we can have a room free of movie star eyes.”
“Deal,” Matt grinned, following you out. You both laughed, the awkwardness forgotten, and settled back into each other’s arms on the couch.

You hadn’t anticipated seeing him. When you left the Boston QZ five years ago after finding out you were pregnant, you never wanted to see Joel Miller’s face again. Not after you broke the news and he told you to get out - that he wanted you gone. Tess had told you to give him a few days to cool down and let the news sink in, so you did. You waited a couple days, which turned into a week and another and once a month passed, you realized you couldn’t wait around for Joel to get his head out of his ass so you packed up and left Boston. You had heard rumors of settlements out West and took the chance of going to one. It was a risky move, especially being pregnant, but raising a child in the QZ was impossible. Bringing a life into this world alone was cruel but if you could make it to one of the settlements, you thought maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. And you did. After months of traveling and close calls, you made it to Jackson. You couldn’t believe how close to normal it was there. It felt like before the outbreak which felt impossible but somehow they did it. You made friends and had support when you finally delivered.
Little Jack came into the world with the helping hands of Maria and your friend Avery. You named him after Jackson, the little community that welcomed you with open arms. He was absolutely perfect and as he grew, he looked more and more like Joel. It hurt you that Joel wasn’t here to see his son grow but he had made his decision the day he told you to leave.
The life you built in Jackson was good enough. You taught at the small school in the morning and spent the rest of your day with Jack and your friends. Every so often you went on patrol but with Jack, you had to find someone to watch him. Avery offered to keep him for the afternoon while you went out with Maria and some others for a quick patrol. Someone thought they heard gunshots going off and your group was sent to check it out. You thought you would come across some raiders or maybe a couple stragglers but what you weren’t expecting was to find Joel Miller and some random kid. It didn’t surprise you that he was looking for Tommy and you watched for Maria’s reaction when he told her his name.
In Jackson, Joel’s name wasn’t a popular one to those who heard it. Tommy had recounted the days that he, Joel, Tess and others had spent that still gave him nightmares and you didn’t have many good things that you shared about him. You kept the good things to yourself and only let yourself think about them on nights you were particularly lonely or sad. She hid her reaction better than you would have but you were a little surprised when she invited them back to town. As soon as you got back, you went straight to the stables to drop off your house before going to pick up Jack from Avery’s. You wanted to just go home but he fought you tooth and nail to go to the dining hall to see Hazel, an older woman in Jackson who was the first person to take you in when you first arrived. She treated you like a daughter and in turn, treated Jack as a grandson.
When you got there, Hazel was delighted to see him and you couldn’t help but smile when Jack squealed and ran straight for her. Watching them, you felt a set of eyes on you and when you looked, they met Joel’s. As usual, his expression was impossible to read. He was sitting with the girl, Ellie you’d briefly heard, along with Tommy and Maria.
“Some new folks, huh?” Hazel asked, breaking you out of your daze. She knew the story about Joel so you were hesitant to tell her who they were but she would find out eventually.
“Yeah, Tommy’s older brother and the girl is Ellie,” you told her, “apparently they traveled all the way from Boston.”
You watched as the realiztion slowly dawned on her face, hiding an amused smile when she said, “where’s my shotgun?”
“It’s fine,” you tried to reassure her, “I don’t think they’re staying.”
She huffed, “I should’ve poisened that food.”
You shook you head, taking Jack when he reached out to you. He was getting sleepy, resting his head on your shoulder and babbling nonsense. You could still feel Joel’s gaze, so you told Hazel you would see her tomorrow and started walking out when you heard your name called.
Tommy.
You weren’t sure what his plan was, he knew your past with Joel so you took your time walking over to where the four individuals were seated. Maria was giving Tommy a dark look and you knew she didn’t agree with his interfering.
“Hey,” you said lightly, trying to ignore Joel’s eyes that were now focused on Jack. Ellie was looking between you and Joel and you could almost see the wheels turning in her brain.
“I was wondering if you had time to take Ellie to the house next to yours and let her have a shower? Maybe find some new clothes?” Tommy asked and held his hand up when Joel started to argue.
“Sure,” you said, motioning for her to follow you. She gave Joel one look before following you out the door. It was cold and you hugged Jack, who was now asleep, tighter to you. She was silent until you were a couple minutes away from the house, whistling.
“So, I take it you and Joel know each other?” She questioned, walking faster to keep up with you. You wanted to drop this kid off before she accidentally got answers out of you. She continued pestering you after you just shrugged and you wondered how Joel, of all people, managed to make it from Boston with the girl. She seemed sweet enough but lord, she was chatty.
“What’s his name?” She asked, pointing to the sleeping boy in your arms as if there was another child around.
“Jack,” you told her and she smiled.
“Like, Jackson?”
“Nice catch,” you praised and she grinned.
You showed her to the shower, before searching for some clean clothes. It took a few trades but you managed to get her some fresh clothes and a new jacket. When you returned to the house, you ran into the one person you were hoping to avoid. He froze when you walked in the front door, clothing in hand and Jack still on your hip. Your back was aching from carrying him but he was unusually clingy. His eyes locked on Joel, head tilting slightly before reaching out for the older man, surprising the two of you. Joel stood frozen even as Jack reached for him, whining slightly.
It was Ellie who broke the awkward silence, walking down the stairs in the fluffy robe you left for her. “You gonna take the kid, or what? He’s not contagious.”
You were hesitant to let Jack go but after he let out an angry wail, you put him down and watched as he walked over to Joel and reached for him, making a grabby motion with his tiny fists, the universal pick me up signal from a child. The man awkwardly picked him up and you immediately saw the similarities between the two. You always thought he looked like Joel but looking at the two of them together, a paternity test wouldn’t be needed.
“Woah,” Ellie said, taking Jack’s hand when he reached towards her, “he looks just like you.”
You ignored the insinuating tone in her words, opting to watch the interaction between the two boys. Joel’s sole attention was now on the toddler in his arms. His whole body softened when Jack rested his head on his chest and you suddenly felt a rush of emotions. Shoving the clothes in Ellie’s arms, you took Jack from Joel and fled out the door, ignoing both voices calling out to you. You didn’t stop running until you were in your own house and rushed to put Jack to bed before going to your own room. Not bothering to change, you crawled under the covers and tried to hold back the sobs threatening to escape you.
You had spent the last five years trying to get over the heartbreak Joel Miller caused you and suddenly the man himself showed up and brought back evey single feeling you had for him.
And you hated him for it.

so those following my steddie-dads series may know that Steve and Eddie named their daughters after important people in their life. Moe (or Lucy Maureen) gets her middle name from Eddie’s mom. Robbie (Amelia Robin) is named after Robin, obviously. Their third and final baby Hazel’s middle name is James, after Hopper.
In the aftermath of all the shit they went through in Hawkins, it didn’t take long for Jim to add Steve to his collection of “kids who pretend to be punching bags for people they care about” (his words). By the time Steve was stepping into adulthood, Hop was Steve’s dad in everything but blood and legal title (and that was even before Steve’s estrangement from his actual father), and when Hazel was born in 2007, he and Joyce were Steve’s second call (Robin being the first, obviously).
Two days later, their plane touched down in Boston.
Hazel was asleep when they arrived, and didn’t stir even while Steve passed her into Hopper’s arms
“Christ, she’s small,” Jim says quietly, looking down at the little baby.
“She’s actually bigger than Robbie was,” Steve replies, “Crazy different from the older two now though.”
For a second, Steve just watches, watches as Hopper adjusts the sleeping baby, watches him run a finger over her little cheek.
“Did you see her name, hon?” Joyce asks him, gesturing to the name embroidered on Hazel’s little hat (Steve had told her the name in advance, learning from experience that it wasn’t wise to catch them both off-guard at once).
Steve watches Jim squint to read the pink stitching, holding back a dumb comment about how he needed his glasses.
“Hazel…James,” Hop mumbles. He pauses, clears his throat, “That’s…what a name. Where’d you guys come up with that one.”
“After you,” Steve tells him, “In case that wasn’t clear.”
Jim is quiet for a long time, and Steve couldn’t say anything else around the tightness in his throat even if he wanted to, so he stays quiet too while Ed wraps an arm around his waist and presses a firm kiss to the side of his head.
“It’s a big honor,” Hopper finally says, his voice wrecked, not taking his eyes off the baby.
Steve can only nod.
“Well deserved,” Eddie tells him seriously, “She’s got big shoes to fill.”
Then, because he can’t help himself, he adds, “And if she starts spilling classified government secrets, we’ll know who to blame.”

Could you please recommend a fic where Harry falls for Draco first and Draco wasn't pining for all those years?
Sort of like a temporarily unrequited love.
Thank you
Hello! Absolutely, love me a smitten Harry. Here are some recs for you:
Solve Us Like a Mystery by tryslora (T, 11k)
When Harry stops in at the bookstore where Draco works, they find a surprising shared interest in mysteries. Draco doesn't expect to see Harry again, and he definitely doesn't expect to become the subject of unexpected investigation that may endanger the life of his unborn child, and at the same time, may bring him the kind of happiness he never thought he'd have after the war.
Voices From The Fog by noeon (E, 13k)
After years of running away, Harry crosses paths with an all-too familiar face and follows him to Amsterdam.
We Might Be Too Old for a Bildungsroman by calrissian18 (T, 21k)
Harry finds something he’s been looking for since the war’s end. Admittedly, the packaging’s a bit odder than he expected.
I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor by birdsofshore (E, 28k)
Harry felt lit up from inside as soon as he entered the bar. There were blokes dancing together, their bodies close to one another, not keeping a wary distance as Harry was always careful to do when he was near another man. God, he wanted this – wanted it so much he could taste it, a metallic tang of heat and desire. He suspected nothing would ever be the same again – especially when he saw who else was in the room.
Faint Indirections by ignatiustrout (T, 29k)
Draco Malfoy is the last person Harry expects to turn up in Boston, Massachussetts. But now he's here, and he won't stop requesting books from the library where Harry works.
Take the Air by dysonrules (M, 51k)
Someone or something is attacking Muggles and leaving them for dead. Auror Harry Potter is assigned to the case, but with his usual partner unavailable, he is stuck with the most annoying Auror ever to walk the halls of the Ministry.
Modern Love by tackytiger (E, 61k)
Harry Potter, of all people, knows that life isn’t always fair. And no one gets to be happy all of the time. But surely there’s something more—something better—than a rubbish Ministry job, and a lonely old house, and that feeling that everyone out there is doing a better job of living than Harry is.
Azoth by zeitgeistic (E, 88k)
Now that Harry is back at Hogwarts with Hermione for eighth year, he realises that something’s missing from his life, and it either has to do with Ron, his boggart, Snape, or Malfoy. Furthermore, what, exactly, does it mean when one’s life is defined by the desire to simultaneously impress and annoy a portrait? Harry has no idea; he’s too busy trying not to be in love with Malfoy to care.
What We Pretend We Can't See by gyzym (M, 131k)
Seven years out from the war, Harry learns the hard truth of old history: it’s never quite as far behind you as you thought.
Can't Sit Still by wilteddaisy (E, 193k)
Five years after the war, Harry finds himself drawn to Draco Malfoy by memories that aren't his own.
A Secondary Education by Thunderbird587 (E, 234k)
Fleeing the aftermath of his recent divorce, Draco Malfoy takes up a post as the new Potions Master at Hogwarts. At first he believes his hopes for a fresh start are dashed when he sees that a certain boyhood rival is on staff there as well. But Harry Potter is being weirdly nice to him, leaving Draco no choice but to play along.
Turn by Saras_Girl (E, 306k)
One good turn always deserves another. Apparently.

On Boston and Brian Kinney
I’ve seen a lot of folks in the Only Friends tag recently making connections between the show and Queer as Folk, both US and UK versions, which makes sense because QaF is a clear reference for the show, both visually and thematically, and we know Jojo likes to reference western media in his work. One parallel folks are drawing is not tracking for me, however, so I am jumping in the wayback machine and putting on my old QaF stan hat to talk to y’all about Brian Kinney, and why Boston is actually nothing like him. Tagging @bengiyo and @neuroticbookworm who talked this through with me and also @slayerkitty because I saw you were contemplating this connection between the two characters.
So, first, why are people making this comparison? It really boils down to one thing: Brian and Boston are both sluts. That’s… pretty much it. They both like sex and prefer to have it with many different partners, and neither has much use for monogamy. But this is pretty much where their similarities end.
So let’s remind ourselves who Brian Kinney is: a kind of fantasy of a hot, rich, self-actualized gay man with unmatched sexual prowess and a surface level flippancy masking a heart of gold. Brian is an adult man with a thriving career and money that he earned for himself after leaving his abusive and homophobic family (who would eventually explicitly reject him because of his sexuality). As a result, he is defiant in his commitment to live his life as loudly and queerly as possible—which includes a dedication to fucking and sucking, public sex, and a rejection of heteronormative constructs like monogamy.
Brian has a very clear moral code he lives by, even if it’s not one most can relate to. He decides to have a son with his (lesbian) best friend because part of him wants to believe in a better future and build a family of his own. He is extremely loyal to his found family even as he’s a jerk to their face most of the time, and he is always working behind the scenes to protect them even as he often hurts their feelings with his glib remarks and shitty behavior. Despite his disdain for monogamy, he never actually tries to destroy any of his friends’ happy relationships (in fact, he tries to sacrifice his own friendship with Michael to ensure he stays with his boyfriend).
Brian has a sense of responsibility to others and often takes on the blame for things he didn’t even do, which is why he takes baby gay Justin to Debbie and ensures he is cared for even as he tries to dissuade Justin from getting attached to him, and why he cares for Justin in the aftermath of his bashing. He cares deeply about his community, to the point where he pours his money into protecting the local gay scene, literally bankrupts himself to stop an anti-gay politician from winning an election, and gives up a dream job to stay put in Pittsburgh and help rebuild the community after a hate crime.
Brian is unflinchingly honest and he avoids making promises because once he does, he knows he will absolutely keep them—he takes his commitments seriously and he always does what he says he will. When he falls in love, he does not abandon his core values but he is willing to make some compromises. And he hides his better self and often wallows in self-destructive behavior because he feels deeply unworthy of love, which goes back to the intergenerational trauma he experienced as a child in an abusive home and the parental rejection he felt due to his sexuality.
Boston, by contrast, is a character who feels more rooted in reality. He’s a pampered rich kid who is indulged in his hobbies and who already has a life plan laid out for him and paid for by his daddy. He likes to sleep around mostly because it’s fun, and because he knows his life here is temporary so he doesn’t see any point in getting attached to people. In stark contrast to Brian’s out and proud and fuck you if you have a problem with it brand of politics, he is still trying to hide who he is in service of his father’s political career, even if he’s pretty sloppy about it (see him fucking Top in a car with giant windows parked in the driveway at a house party).
Boston’s moral code is fungible and ever-changing to fit his circumstances—boy is a hypocrite (see his opinions about people filming and photographing him even as he does the same to others constantly). He has no loyalty and no qualms about hurting and betraying his friends, and actively tries to destroy their relationships for sport or as a means to get what he wants. He does not feel responsible for anyone and often lies and ducks accountability for the things he does. He does not care about his community at all, and in fact already has a NYC escape hatch in his back pocket for when he inevitably burns his bridges. He is not as honest as Brian and sends a lot of mixed messages to keep people guessing and on the hook.
Rather than hurting people by being brutally honest as Brian does, Boston plays psychological games and manipulates his friends and lovers, and he seems to take twisted pleasure in blowing up their happiness. We haven’t seen him make a promise or fall in love, and while there are some signs that he may have some sort of inferiority complex at play (with Mew in particular), his motives are not tied to any past trauma. Boston is just a messy bitch who loves chaos and doesn’t really care who gets hurt as long as he gets what he wants and stays entertained. Where Brian is literally a superhero to his loved ones, Boston is just a very flawed human being.
But Shan, I hear you saying, I thought you liked Boston! I do, besties, I do. He’s a fantastic character and a very real kind of person many of us encounter in our 20s. Because that’s the thing: Boston is so young. He hasn’t developed any sense of responsibility to others or any understanding of the importance of queer community, and he has never had to take care of himself, which is perhaps the biggest difference between him and Brian. Brian has lived independently for more than a decade when we meet him in QaF, whereas Boston is a spoiled rich kid who has barely lived. Brian is a fully realized adult and his more nuanced characterization is a reflection of that; Boston is actually a pretty basic chaotic drama queen who will grow up eventually.
TL;DR: Aside from being promiscuous, Boston has very little in common with Brian Kinney. He is more a reflection of a very real kind of person you will meet on the scene in queer communities than an homage to a larger than life fictional QaF character. And while OF is absolutely referencing some of the themes and values and stylistic flourishes of QaF, it is not making direct parallels to its characters.
#did i write this mostly as an excuse to get brian kinney on this blog?#who can say#only friends the series#queer as folk#thai bl#ofts#only friends#ephemerality squad#shan shouts into the void

Only Friends: Episode 6 Preview (Mew VS Ray)
Jesus Christ, the pain train will keep on chugging full steam ahead next week when it comes to Ray/Sand. Ray gets in an altercation with Mew (over Top), who proceeds to punch Ray in the face out of frustration. My jaw dropped to the floor.
There's an earlier clip where Ray is speaking to Boston and it sounds like Ray either finds out about the affair, or that Boston/Top have history. I have a feeling it's likely the latter, because Ray would be far angrier at Boston if he found about the affair. (As well as the fact we get another blow-up later between Boston and the entire group when this is revealed). Besides, knowing they had history is enough ammunition for Ray to believe that Top is untrustworthy and not deserving of Mew.
So Ray decides to approach Mew about it, probably in an attempt to warn him to distance himself from Top. However at this point, Mew's pretty loved up. Considering Ray's recent indiscretion and the fact he causes a scene (making this seem like drunken, rowdy behaviour), Mew ultimately defends and sides with Top, and sends Ray flying in the process. Ray hits the stage hard. Mew was not going easy in the slightest which left me speechless.
(*Has Mew become evil!Mew now that he doesn't wear glasses??)
Sand is also at the scene during this confrontation, and helps Ray up when he gets hit. Immediately after this is where Ray and Sand then also have their argument. This string of events makes a LOT more sense now, considering Ray's reaction.
Ray must be incredibly heartbroken and utterly devastated. He probably never thought that Mew - the person who saved his life - would one day be capable of hurting him instead (and all in a bid to defend another man - a giant, red flag of a man).
Then Sand decides to top that off with "Can you stop thinking about something else for a second? Focus on me for once, will you?" perhaps not fully realising that this is THE ABSOLUTE WORST time to ask that question. I love you Sand, but this is really not the time to make this about you. I know you're still upset from this week's episode, but please give your boyfriend a moment's respite.
This results in Ray exploding in his face, shoving Sand to the ground and storming off.
Ray's in an exceptionally heightened and raw state of mind in this scene. What he says to Sand is going to come out incredibly harshly, and he's not going to be thinking straight to consider Sand's feelings.
However, once he cools down, he's going to seriously regret it. Especially in immediate succession to hurting Sand just recently.
The aftermath is what I'm really concerned about. From Sand's perspective, everything that transpires 100% confirms Boston's bombshell, without a question of a doubt, that Ray does love Mew.
Both Ray and Sand will be in a very poor mental state after next week's episode, and I hope to god they're going to be okay.
Also - Ray should NOT be driving himself home when he's like this.

Amnesia
💭 loving you is muscle memory by Talls (3,5k)
Neil has temporary amnesia, and Andrew is disconcertingly attractive. This is especially disconcerting because Neil was pretty sure he didn't swing. Nicky is endlessly pleased by the entire situation.
💭 Secondhand Lovers by alex_wh0 (22k)
“Mr. Minyard,” said the doctor, “Can you tell me who this is?” Andrew looked at Neil, his gaze clinical, “I don’t know.” Memory is a funny thing, Neil thought, even as he felt himself unravel uncontrollably as he looked into the eyes of the man he loved and saw only distrust.
💭 Back to the Start by fuzzballsheltiepants (29k)
Andrew has been on his pro team for 6 months when he takes a ball to the head. Neil flies to Boston to see him - only to find that Andrew doesn't remember him.
💭 Pause and Restart My Heart by knoxham (series)
Andrew Minyard often got 2am cravings for ice cream. He would often get up and drive to the store to pick some up if they were out. Neil Josten would often go with him on these night time outings. It was not often that they would be hit by a drunk driver. After a bad car accident that lands Neil in the hospital, Andrew deals with the aftermath and the fact that Neil might not wake up.
💭and in a flash, it's gone. by Idnis (series)
‘I wouldn’t associate with Andrew anymore, nor with any of the others. You can’t trust foxes after all.’ The man’s fist connected precisely where his head wound was, and then Neil Josten was gone. Neil loses his memory and has to somehow make sense of the pieces of his past and present. And Andrew.
💭 Muscle Memory by elesary (20k)
Andrew wakes in the hospital, years after the last thing he remembers, with nothing but a handful of out of date promises and a wrecked car. He is purposeless, adrift, unable to find solid ground. Except in the blue, blue eyes of the scarred stranger at his bed side.
💭 you're not next before forever by Andy_Day02 (29k)
Andrew could practically feel Neil’s smile from across the court yet that wasn’t what he was thinking about. Exy was considered a violent sport not just because of how people played during the game. Andrew was moving before anything happened and yelled at Neil to turn the fuck around from where he was talking with his sub. Or even run for fuck’s sake. If there was ever a time Andrew had wanted Neil to run, that would be it. - Neil gets badly hurt during an exy game. Andrew gets arrested. Almost everything goes to hell.
💭 Help me remember by ok555 (47k)
Neil woke up with a pounding headache and from the feel of it, probably a couple broken ribs. The memories of the previous night were fuzzy at best. He remembered paying some random guy at the club to knock him out which would explain the headache, but he couldn’t come up with an explanation for the ache around his chest. or Neil has amnesia and forgets everything that happened after his first night at Columbia.
💭Inked Petals by KweenDay (15k)
Andrew spent 3 years in a shithole small town in Florida trying to get through the loss of the only person who made him feel something. Then Aaron convinces him to move to New York to start living his life again. It all goes well until Andrew makes a tinder account and matches with his dead boyfriend.
💭 i only need the working of my hands by allyasavedtheday (21k)
Andrew gets injured during an Exy game and loses almost two years' worth of memories. It leaves him with a nasty pain in the head and far too many questions. Namely, who the fuck is Neil Josten?

Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre, or the Incident on King Street, occurred in Boston, Massachusetts, on 5 March 1770, when nine British soldiers fired into a crowd of American colonists, ultimately killing five and wounding another six. The massacre was heavily propagandized by colonists such as Paul Revere and helped increase tensions in the early phase of the American Revolution (c. 1765-1789).
Background
In the mid-1760s, the Parliament of Great Britain attempted to directly tax the Thirteen Colonies of British North America to raise revenue in the aftermath of the expensive Seven Years' War (1756-1763). Although Parliament believed it was well within its authority, the American colonists disagreed; as subjects of the British Crown, the colonists believed they enjoyed the same rights as all Britons, including the right of self-taxation. Since the colonists were unrepresented in Parliament, they contended that Parliament had no power to directly tax them; prominent colonists like Samuel Adams (1722-1803) of Boston argued that the Americans would be resigning themselves to the status of 'tributary slaves' if they consented to pay the Parliamentary tax (Schiff, 73).
In April 1765, news reached the colonies that Parliament had issued the Stamp Act, a direct tax on all paper documents. The outraged colonists protested the Stamp Act in a variety of ways; the Virginia House of Burgesses passed a series of resolves denouncing the act as a violation of Americans' rights, while colonial merchants began boycotting British imports. However, the most dramatic opposition to the Stamp Act took place in Boston, the capital of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. On 14 August 1765, a mob of Bostonians hanged an effigy of Andrew Oliver, the stamp distributor for Massachusetts, from an elm tree before viciously ransacking his house that evening. Fearing for his life, Oliver resigned the next day, but the mob was unsatisfied; on 26 August, it attacked the home of Lieutenant Governor Thomas Hutchinson of Massachusetts, stealing all movable goods from the house. These riots were celebrated throughout the colonies; the Sons of Liberty, a loosely organized group of colonial political agitators, dated its founding from the riots, while the elm tree on which Oliver's effigy was hanged became known as Boston's 'Liberty Tree'.
Parliament repealed the Stamp Act in March 1766, but the colonists barely had time to celebrate before a new set of taxes and regulations, the Townshend Acts, were passed by Parliament between 1767 and 1768. These acts imposed new duties on goods such as glass, paint, and tea, and required a Board of Commissioners to set up headquarters in Boston to oversee the collection of the taxes. When the five commissioners arrived in Boston in November 1767, they were greeted by a hostile crowd carrying effigies and wearing labels that read, "Liberty & Property & no Commissioners" (Middlekauff, 163). Nor did the commissioners receive a much warmer welcome from Boston's leading citizens; John Hancock (1737-1793), one of the city's wealthiest merchants, refused to allow his Cadet Company, a military organization he operated, to participate in a parade held to welcome the commissioners. Eager to put men like Hancock in his place, the commissioners seized Hancock's sloop, the Liberty, on 10 June 1768, on the pretext that the Liberty had transported contraband goods and that its captain had threatened a tax collector.
When British sailors arrived to take possession of the Liberty, they were greeted by a mob, who were already angry that the British had been impressing Boston sailors into the Royal Navy. A brawl broke out along the docks that soon blossomed into a city-wide riot, as thousands of colonists roamed the streets beating up tax collectors and attacking the commissioners' homes. The royal officials had to flee to Castle Island, a fortified island in Boston Harbor, to escape the violence. To restore order, General Thomas Gage, commander-in-chief of all British forces in North America, decided to move troops into Boston. Roughly 2,000 British soldiers, mostly from the 29th and 14th regiments, were loaded into transports and carried from Halifax to Boston, arriving in the town on 1 October 1768. A manifestation of Britain's imperial power, the red-coated soldiers disembarked and marched to Boston Common, their fixed bayonets gleaming in the sunlight.

her patient, his savior [kit walker]
SUMMARY: when kit gets thrown into briarcliff for a second time, yet again for a crime he didn’t commit, he meets a nurse: Y/N
CONTENT WARNING: violence, briarcliff, mental asylums, angst, platonic relationship but could be romantic depending on your perspective
A/N: the dates might be wrong, but i couldn’t find any explicitly stated dates so i had to use what i could. this does not match up with the ending of the show but it’s an idea that came to me
NO NSFW. PLS ENJOY
being a nurse at briarcliff wasn’t an easy job. you’d deal with the aftermath of the brutal punishments that the sisters would give to the patients. the welts, the burns, you saw the lot of it.
nobody there was anyone you wanted to associate with, it was clear that 9/10 people seemingly deserved to be there. granted you didn’t know most of them, but you read their files and found their backstories. however one person stuck out to you: kit walker.
a charming man who managed to be discharged from briarcliff. he was framed for the bloodyface murders and thrown into the asylum without a second thought. judging by his files he endured a lot. the electrotherapy, the beatings, the hydrotherapy, it was atrocious. he was discharged in 1965 though, so why was this relevant? why were you reading his files in 1971?
kit was back. back for murder. He knew that Alma murdered Grace, but he couldn’t let Alma take the fall for it; he gave himself up to save her, a chivalrous act for his wife.
This same Mr walker had just entered your infirmary looking beaten up. his eye was blackened, bottom lip bloodied, and god knows what else. But kit was your nicest patient, he wasn’t creepy and was polite. he was like a saint in a house of devils.
“sista’, mind fixin’ me up?” he asks in his boston drawl, standing in the doorway waiting for you to give him permission to be seen. he knew he didn’t need to ask, but he still wanted to be polite and keep that sense of humanity in him. his hair was messy, sticking to his forehead a little with the sweat presumably from the fight he got himself into. kit was such a sweet soul, you never believed anyone when they said he was violent.
“of course kit” you beam softly, not wanting to seem overly eager but also not wanting to seem monotonous like everyone else here. it was either monotony or anger, no in between. to kit you were his ray of sunshine in this place, he appreciated having a nice nurse this time round rather than Dr Arden.
“thanks-” he began to say, cutting himself off with a hiss of pain when the antiseptic made contact with some of his grazes and cuts.
“sorry, ‘s just hurtin’ a little” he mumbled, apologising for his reaction to the cool antiseptic wipe you began to run along his battered body.
the two of you made idle chit chat whilst you fixed him up, your eyes meeting his occasionally. he made you laugh with some sort of witty comment/remark he made, and you giggled like a school girl with a crush.
nothing could happen though, he still had alma on the outside. nothing would ever happen… right?
A/N: i’m gonna be real and say i got a bit lazy towards the end and also couldn’t be bothered to make a banner. i’ve got a lot to work on so fics might be slightly lower quality than usual, but i’ll try my best <3

Superheroes
Pairings: Ethan Ramsey x Victoria Clarke
Word Count: 936
Summary: Luke and Lily learn just how amazing Ethan and Victoria are
Rating: General Audiences
Category: Fluff
Lily slumped onto the living room sofa, dropping her bag on the floor and laid her head on the back of the sofa, shutting her eyes.
“Good revision session?” Luke chuckled as he looked up from his book.
“What do you think? Why did we think following Mom and Dads footsteps were a good idea?” Lily huffed.
“Well technically you’re not by coming an EMT.” Luke shrugged.
“It’s similar. Besides, I was always the more adventurous one.” Lily said.
“Whatever. It’ll be worth it in the end.” Luke said.
“I hope so. Because I hate textbooks.” Lily folded her arms.
Luke picked up the remote and turned on the television. Both Victoria and Ethan were at work and the twins were home alone for Saturday. They did have Sunday off and the plan was to stay indoors and watch films since the weather had turned significantly colder.
“Look at this. There’s been a massive car accident near Boston.” Luke said.
They both watched the TV screen. There were multiple cameras on scene with reporters explaining what had happened. There were many ambulances, police and firefighters on the scene, as there were many cars that looked worse for wear.
“That doesn’t look good.” Lily said.
“It’s not far from the hospital either. Do you think Mom and Dad are helping out?”
“Maybe. Although I thought they weren’t doing that anymore since Mom hurt her foot last time.”
“Since when has that ever stopped Mom.” Luke laughed. “She is never one to listen to advice.”
Luke and Lily continued to watch the news coverage. It did not look good from what the presenters were saying and that lots of emergency service workers were battling hard to help those injured.
“Do you think we’ll get to do that one day?” Lily looked at Luke.
“You definitely will, you’ll be first on scene. Meanwhile, I’ll be dealing with the aftermath in hospital.” Luke rested his hands behind his head.
“I enjoy the thrill more. I like putting myself in danger.” Lily shrugged.
“I don’t think Mom and Dad would agree with that.” Luke chuckled.
“Mom liked it. But Dad not so much. He’s too protective of us.”
As the cameras flicked between the scene and the emergency vehicles heading to the scene, there was suddenly two figures on the screen who looked oddly familiar. They were running towards the scene, gloves on and the wind whipping in their faces.
“Is that…” Luke trailed off.
“It is. No way! This is so cool! Where do you think they’re heading?”
“Where do you think?! Do you think the reporters have picked up on them?” Luke asked.
Lily watched the screen as Victoria and Ethan directed orders at their colleagues, swiftly moving between the injured people, helping them as much as possible. “I don’t know. But they definitely should.”
As if the reporter heard Lily she said: “It would appear that Ethan and Victoria Ramsey are currently on scene of this big accident. They appear to be in their element, helping those in need. We are always in awe of our emergency services and the work they do for us.”
“Yes we are.” Luke looked at Lily and smiled.
The two watched their parents, hoping that one day, that will be them out there, doing what they do best.
“I haven’t felt this exhausted since I was pregnant.” Victoria sighed as the car pulled into the driveway.
Ethan laughed. “I’ll remind you of that the next time we have to do something like that.”
Victoria looked towards the house. “How mad to you think they are?”
“Mad enough that they’ll have forgotten by this time tomorrow.” Ethan replied.
“You said that last time. And Lily did not speak to either of us properly for 3 days.” Victoria said.
“Well that was because we didn’t help her with her science project. And she was eight.” Ethan laughed.
“Fine. But if she does get angry I’m leaving her to you.” Victoria said as she got out of the car.
“You always do.” Ethan said.
Before either Ethan or Victoria could put the key in the front door, the door swung open and Luke and Lily pulled their parents inside and hugged them.
“Woah what’s all this?” Victoria chuckled reciprocating the hug.
“Can we at least take our coats and shoes off first?”
“We saw what happened on TV.” Lily said.
“You saw the accident?” Ethan asked.
“Not specifically the accident but we saw you two! You looked so cool!”
“Oh you saw that. See I told you they saw us. The media are too quick.” Victoria said.
“I was a little too busy saving some lives.” Ethan said.
“How many did you save?” Lily asked as the family made their way to the living room.
“As many as we could. But these kind of things never turn out totally ok. But we did our best.” Ethan replied.
“We thought you would be angry with us that we were late home.” Victoria said.
“Are you kidding? We know you have an important job.” Luke said.
“And we know that sometimes you have to do these things to help others. One day that’ll be us.” Lily said.
“Still not giving up on that idea?” Ethan chuckled.
“Definitely not. I like the idea of danger.” Lily grinned.
“Don’t say that too loudly in front of me.” Ethan laughed.
The family spent the rest of the evening talking all things medicine. One day, Luke and Lily thought, they’ll be the ones sharing stories.
For now, all they could do is sit back and admire how awesome their parents were.

You're telling me that in Season 2 Episode 6 "Dead Reckoning" of the 2005 animated series Justice League Unlimited, Batman is momentarily possessed by Boston Brand (a ghost and an ally) who uses his body to murder a bad guy who was going to shoot Wonder Woman, and all they did once Boston Brand left him was have Superman say "Batman it wasn't your fault" and then Bruce looked upset and walked out of the room?????? And they don't talk about it at all in the rest of the series???? Hello I don't care if this was a kids show you broke Batman's moral code I need the aftermath explored in detail?????
#i think that's probably my only complaint with the show#rewatching the series as a an adult it's just as enjoyable as i remember it being when i was a kid#I'm not a huge DC fan but this series does hold a dear place in my heart#justice league#justice league unlimited#batman#boston brand#dot says#dc comics#dc universe#dcu

Trick or treat!
so one of the treats can be fics in progress, so i have this one where buck finds out what really happened after she leaves and before she gets to boston - here's a buck and eddie scene in the immediate aftermath
“Buck.” Buck blinks at the clipboard in his hand. The check list is blank, and he hasn’t moved since he grabbed it. He looks up to find Eddie beside him, grabbing the clipboard out of his hand. He has that look on his face makes Buck feel like he can tell him anything. And there will be no judgement. Not when it matters. “Are you okay?” Eddie whispers, keeping his voice low and it makes something in his chest crack harshly. He feels out of breath, all of a sudden and there’s not enough oxygen in the room. A hand grips his shoulder tight and he’s being pushed back against the wall, made to lean against it. “Woah, hey. I got you,” he hears, and when he looks up, Eddie is there, brown eyes wide, worried. His thumb is pressing against his collar and he shivers, leaning into him, into it, and a gasp just breaks through. When it does, Eddie’s arms are around him, and he’s squeezing Buck like he’s holding him together. He doesn’t say anything, and just lets Buck cry. When his cries turn into sobs, he doesn’t hush him. He just holds him, and at that point he didn’t care that he can hear his own sobs echo in the firehouse. No one else approaches them. Whether because he’s not actually that loud or Eddie told them to leave, he doesn’t care. Buck nearly lost his sister, and he thought he was doing what was best for her. He doesn’t care.

honestly, i hate how the sturniolo triplets fandom turned into a bunch of 12 year olds simping over matt and chris, sure, they're hot but that doesn't mean you go to every edit of them and say "my husband guys 😔🤚" first of all, you're 9 years younger than them, second, what the fuck?? also the sturniolo police better not be here after the stream to try to "cancel us" they're almost 21 and you're 12. honestly its hard to find some peace and quiet cause all i'm getting is banter about space camp, and how chris and nick go some places while matt stays home, it's none of your business because yeah, they might've took an uber or had matt or a friend drive them, but that doesn't give you guys the audacity to assume that matt is "antisocial". also when matt said"fucking bitches getting money" reminder, they prefilmed in boston, matt didn't know about tumblr and all i'm getting is "this is the aftermath of matt going on tumblr" respectfully shut up, like really. reminder i'm just a teenage girl defending her favorite youtubers in a good way! now, have a nice day!
