Pet peeve of the day:
“You should be grateful you got a five on [insert AP exam here]” fuck no Becky. I’m not grateful for my score. I’d be grateful if fuckin’ JESUS came down and gave me a 5, or if college board “did me a solid”, but neither of those things happened.
I’m tired of watching female presenting people be told that they should be grateful for things that they have earned the right to be PROUD OF!

geralt is also a most real depiction of good quality fatherhood and great girldad representation because EVEN THOUGH witchers don’t even experience aging at the same rate as non-GMO humans, EVEN THOUGH it would be “biologically impossible,”
geralt having had been raising a pre-teen girl for maybe a few months to a year already “gave the impression of having aged,” his “face slashed by wrinkles.” the emotional toll on this man from raising she-devil ciri
and this is only the very beginning of the saga. BEFORE everything goes to shit. the wrinkles have set in
#i know this is description is colored by triss’… [sighs] aroused… point of view#but the lines in the second screenshot are such a good description of him come on 🥺#same with when cahir sees ciri then him at thanedd#it’s not canon but please also apply to yennefer post-thanedd 🙏#can you imagine geralt and yennefer reuniting at stygga castle and yennefer only got even more MILFy#sorry. who said that#it’s actually surprising that when geralt frees her from her shackles#we don’t get a paragraph about how he was down bad. not the time geralt but you know he would be thinking ‘ravishing’#meanwhile yennefer is covered in blood and bruises and her hands are fucked from torture and geralt’s still adoring her beauty#yennefer: at her most undignified | geralt: i would worship her#yes yes i know they were defeated and horribly empty at stygga castle#but i’m just saying despite it all the love and attraction persisted. despite IT ALL#you know like they changed so much and got even more fucked up and traumatized#well i’m just raising my hand to say well also they also got sexier.#actually fuck it remember she appears like a titaness for a brief moment. her short queen REALNESS#like i do think geralt deciding to split up is what further doomed the hanza (they were already doomed but you know)#(it was very scooby doo of him to do that)#(on the way there) angoulême sees stygga on the cliffside jutting out above the lake: what?! that creepy castle… nuh-uh…#milva: … would you do it for a bump of fisstech? | angoulême: … | milva: two bumps of fisstech?#um anyways#i was going to say that once geralt freed yennefer it was OVERRR for vilgefortz and skellen and co#BOOO you were all fucked. woman unleashed#remember when bonhart attacks yennefer it is like a lion and a panther in the cell#geralt just unleashed the panther on them#they really should have had yennefer under stronger security like i guess vilgefortz’ misogyny really was the death of him#that is also kind of true because he dies because of geralt’s amulet from fringilla#so it was literally because of several women and a girl and also a vampire that he triumphs#you know when you put dandelion with a group of women it feels like a fox in a henhouse. even if said fox is stupid and gets kicked#however putting regis with a group of women is something like the angel that appeared to mary#the elbow-high diaries

June 1908, Newcrest, England
The Misses Lillie Hayward, Clare Hamilton, and Edeline Walsh on their final day of finishing school, June 1908
Edeline was 16 years old and graduated from finishing, now a proper young lady. She had said a tearful goodbye to her two best friends and returned home two weeks before school ended for Giselle, Alexander, and Byron.
She knew what her parents wanted for her: To start looking for a husband. To prepare for her life as a housewife and have many children. The thought alone made her gag. She was going to university, and that meant studying hard for the entrance exams. Unlike her brothers, she was at a disadvantage.
So the day after she came back, Edeline decided to tell her parents her plans, whether they approved or not. She asked her father to stay home from that day, that it was urgent she spoke with both.
“What is so important that you could not wait until later?” Peter asked, closing the door behind him.
“Is everything alright?” Rebecca question. “Do you miss your friends? Perhaps we can invite them to stay during the summer.”
The teenager shook her head. “No, nothing like that. I wanted to talk about the future. My future. I know you think that my wish to go to university and become a doctor was a mere phase and reaction to Giselle’s near death, but that is not the case. I want to be a doctor, and I have been studying every free moment I have. It is my intention to continue studying for university entrance exams, and if I am able to get in, I will enroll in the London School of Medicine for Women."
Peter’s jaw dropped in shock. “Excuse me?”
Rebecca plainly looked horrified. “What?”
“Do I need to say it again?”
Peter sat down and stared at his daughter. “You want to go to college?”
“Yes.”
“...Ignoring the fact you are a woman of good breeding, what makes you think I can afford to send three children to university at once? I may be a well-off attorney, but I am not rich. Byron and Alexander attend Willow Creek College because of a partial scholarship. I’d have barely any savings left if we were to pay the full tuition.”
“I can get scholarships, and Byron is bound to get some, he’s so smart.”
Rebecca pointed at her daughter. “Where did you get some notion that you are going to college? No man would marry a better-educated woman than them.”
Edeline sighed. “If my future husband cannot support my ambitions, then I would not even consider marriage. I would only marry if I truly loved my husband, and if he supported me. I would have a marriage of equals. I will not be a housewife.”
“And what is wrong with being a housewife?!”
“Nothing!” Edeline shouted back, trying not to let her emotions get the best of her. “It is not what I want with my life. I want to help people. Save lives.”
“This is not some Jane Austen novel, Edeline. This is reality, and you need to accept that. Who put such ideas in your head? What did that school teach you? Now I expect you’ll start clamoring for the women’s vote and other nonsense.”
She was stunned by her mother’s words. “I read, Mama. Not just romance novels and medical textbooks, but the newspapers and current affairs. I am not blind to the world, nor am I ignorant. And yes, I think those suffragettes are very brave women campaigning for a very important cause. Everyone deserves an equal representation and voice in government affairs.”
Rebecca eyed her daughter up and down in disgust. “What happened to my darling little girl? You’ve changed so much.”
Tears pooled in Edeline’s eyes, and she swallowed back a sob. “You wouldn’t be saying this if I were a boy.”
“But you’re not, Edeline. You are almost a young woman. Act like it.”
The younger blonde turned to her father, who was sitting on the couch, still silent. “Please, Papa.”
He wouldn’t answer, nor would he look up.
It felt like her heart was breaking. She sniffled and turned around, opening the door and running to her room. She slammed the door as loudly as she could before collapsing in her bed, beginning to weep.

The way the ones who are part of that idea are like "but-but we included elriel last year 🥺 we just want to bring peace to the fandom and include all, you elriels can tag the ship in it if you want" like please shut up I beg fake elain and azriel stans to be honest with themselves and everyone else, stop the bullshit, you ain't fooling anyone let alone us
Shake hands and kiss the cheeks of people that doesn't give a fuck about both characters, whatever you do you, but then don't come and act as a poor victim when is easy to tell when someone prefers to please the insane bullies that are gleeriels and feed into the lies of the deluciens.
Gwynriels aren't people, they are problematic since day one they created that stupid crackship because a girl that literally was SAd and still can't be alone with men, was saved by a guy with decency (that let me remind you, it was created by pure misogynistic hatred and fear of elain as potential lover of azriel when acosf was just published) they had been giving lies and misinformation to even non-englishs peakers specially to them, they had doxed anti gwynriels until big online elriel/elain stans pages just went offline, they had harassed people and wishing the worst to elain to the point they even show their faces in ticktok talking about how bad it is for a woman to not give children since it makes her unworthy of the man she likes; they had been inventing bullshit from her being evil to she dying at her sisters hands. They even put their side side character at the center of all and now she's more important than feysand and nessian all together, she is more valuable than emerie, emerie, so now she would be the white savior of all illyrians including azriel, who now is a dangerous and toxic brute but not to her! Not at her ginger magic! Because God forbid a brown grown man wants to have sex with a woman he likes and is taking all the risks for in canon...
#rant#petty rant. mostly#i just can't with their shit man#im fucking tired#rn im really fucking tired of what is and isn't accepted in part of this messed up fanbase#fuck gwynriel and all those who like it fr yall disgusting since day one#and anyone who supports and tolerate and accept gwynriels bullshit go fuck yourself too#big part of why the misogyny and white feminism in this fandom has gotten so big is part of their fault. end of#acotar rant#booo gwynriel i hate your pussyyy#booo elucien/lucien i hate your pusssyyyyy#tw sa mention#elriel

Nope, actually this isn't a "piss on the poor website" thing, this is just...the state of discourse, especially online. Though also IRL most of the time, in my experience, as someone who has strong opinions and constantly argues about them.
Actually turning things over in my brain and yeah, I'd say that's probably my feeling on a lot of these conversations. The wrong thing is getting blamed.
White people do experience racism. The problem is when people hear that they think "people of color have power over white people" and not "under white supremacy, there are white people who are regarded as Not White Enough".
Men are oppressed. The problem is that people tend to think the ending of that sentence is "by women" and not "under the patriarchy, men are forced into a very specific and often harmful role and are heavily punished for any deviance from that role".
And the well has been poisoned by bad actors, so it's hard to get any amount of conversation about this going without either attracting said bad actors to totally derail the whole thing or without having kneejerk suspicion from the getgo due to said bad actors' previous actions.
#trying to explain to my mom that misogyny and misandry are coexisting concepts that both present an#excellent reason to dismantle the patriarchy in all its facets#and being met with ''booo you think women oppress men'' even though thats not what i fucking said#the weird thing is like...no i wouldnt say men oppress men either. i mean they do but thats not my point.#there are women who act in the best interest of the patriarchy! sometimes women oppress women! sometimes women oppress men!#but i mean yeah sure most of the time its men that oppress women and men that oppress men.#i mean i guess. kinda depends on how you define oppression doesn't it?#like not all oppressive actions invole beating the shit out of someone but that is certainly one of the methods#but thats too much nuance so most people have already stopped reading and instead typed ''booo [strawman]!''#which makes it weird that we can identify people like candace owens and caitlyn jenner as being Bad People who#can't be trusted to discuss issues that affect their own communities.#like what we can recognize class traitors when they're minorities but only sometimes???#frustrating.#feminism#misogyny#misandry#transandrophobia

We need to talk about misogyny in the lukola fandom, and how it originated in the rampant misogyny in the Polin fandom and just continued to grow, because unfortunately, the two deeply intersect, and there's been such a lack of nuance in so many discussions
interestingly enough, this is actually being exhibited in a lot of Luke Newton discourse. Not toward him necessarily, but to the women around him, in comparison to him, for better or worse, including Nicola. There's been a lot of discourse especially around Luke being 'jobless' in contrast to Nicola being 'booked and busy'. and even in rejection of that discussion, the defense becomes that she is an exception, because she is exceptional, and that of course others look less ambitious in comparison. And at first, I'm sure this LOOKS like it's praising a woman for her hard work and dunking on a man for what we imagine isn't.
but has anyone ever asked why Nicola is booked and busy, especially? does she want to be? or does she *have* to be?
I want you to think about just how many women over the age of 40 are getting major roles. How many love scenes you've seen that feature more mature women. How in Queen Charlotte, the focus was on a younger actress, how Violet's and Danbury's and Portia's and QCs actresses don't even have a kiss scripted.
How much of that is by design in the entertainment industry
Nicola, in many ways, is creating a recipe for burn out, but she works alongside wonderful actresses who are incredibly talented- and do not get the opportunities they SHOULD. Roles in the entertainment industry are largely written for young women in their 20s, young, conventional women. And Nicola KNOWS this. She's a businesswoman, and her craft IS her business. The clock is, unfortunately, ticking. This is a very insidious aspect of the misogynistic entertainment machine. Yes, Nicola is booked and busy right now- she's building her brand and trying to break out of the awful cycle of female actors getting a few big roles, and then get relegated to side characters or mum number 3. Should the entertainment industry write more roles for women over 40? YES!!! They should be major roles with poignant narratives!! But it isn't the reality we live in. She is actively fighting against the sexism of the industry she is living in, she cannot take a vacation.
Luke Newton, however, *can*. He has privilege as a man to take his time. Whilst Nicola's career is in danger of a downswing, Luke's is, by most statistics? Just beginning. Men continue to get major roles deep into their 30s, 40s, 50s. In fact, I think MOST male actors only build notoriety as they age. So Luke Newton has the privilege of TIME.
And let me very clear: I'm happy he can. And I wish Nicola could, too. Grinding ourselves to dust in the pursuit of the perfect capitalistic darling is only going to breed misery. The fandom is SO caught up in saying 'oh, look at how great it is that xyz has this role!' and 'booo he's unemployed and jobless etc. etc.' that we don't take the time to ask. . .why is it NECESSARY and in fact praise worthy to lick clean the boot of grind culture? Are we not all tired? Do we not all want downtime? Holiday? Vacation?
Luke Newton is doing what is healthy: he's pushing away from Social Media, didn't spend too much time promoting, disengaged from the fandom in online spaces but is still generous with his time in person, poured himself into his craft, did a hell of a promotion tour, and in the time between fitting and costumes and learning lines for Bridgerton Season 4? He's resting.
As. He. Should.
As *Nicola* should. Because she also pushed to continue engaging with a fanbase who she hopes will act as security for her as she ages out of the roles writers are pushing into the world. Nicola SHOULD BE ALLOWED HER REST!!! She should NOT be booked and busy!! She should NOT be grinding herself to dust for the sake of keeping herself in good light to become one of the few women who continue to be big names beyond her 40s.
She, however, can't. Not because of anything Luke Newton has done, he is not, as many people want to believe, a problem. He benefits from the system ALL his male coworkers do, and does his best to uplift the women around him, likely understanding the struggles of such having been raised surrounded by so many women, but he is not perpetuating the system or creating it. Instead of directing our criticism on Luke Newton, we SHOULD be directing it to the entertainment industry. So Luke Newton is on a break from a serial successful production he has a guaranteed role for: so what? He is afforded that privilege. Having downtime is not the death knell of his career as doomsayers are insisting.
The average age of an Academy Award Winner who is an actor is almost 50. The average age of an Academy Award Winner who is an actress is 37. (source)
Should we be mad? Yes.
Is this something to be mad at Luke Newton for specifically? NO. Many male actors take breaks and time in their career trajectory, because they know they have longevity. The discussion in this fandom is misplaced, and the root of that misplacement is twofold: sexism and capitalist worship. It isn't that Luke Newton lacks ambition and should be working harder- I argue he's doing what is best for him and most people in the long term. This is self care, and it's important.
No, the discussion is that Nicola is forced to work in a pressure pot because of the industry, and the fandom continues to praise her for it, all whilst turning noses up at those who don't or do not have to, and continuing to uphold the narrative that women must be a beacon of exceptionalism in order to curry respect. They continue to uphold her grind as a virtue- look how great it is that she's constantly posting, constantly engaging with the fandom, always auditioning, booked and busy- have you not asked if she would LIKE a vacation? she deserves one, same as Luke Newton.
What you're mad at is NOT Luke himself- but the patriarchy. What you're mad at is that women must be held to standards of near unreachable excellence. But instead of working together as women and having any actual discussion about it that's meaningful, it turns into a crock of shit that then shoves everyone in the backspray, especially other women.
The slutshaming misogyny that has been directed at Luke Newton's girlfriend- *yikes*.
Oh, A is a hanger on. She's 'poptart', she's portrayed with an ant emoji, she's 'toilet twerker', she's 'controlling him' or HE should control HER, she 'should be reigned in', she's jobless, she's an infant who needs her big strong boyfriend to take her social media away, she's not been 'claimed' (like luggage, like a THING), look at him, he doesn't feel ANYTHING toward her- not like Nicola.
Our good, darling Nicola versus that awful whore Antonia/Jade/Any Woman in Luke Newton's Circle.
This sexism is deep and pervasive- being angry he's dating her 'because she's thin'. Insisting she's a villain and everything she does is to 'rile up the fandom' or 'stir up trouble' or that she 'hates Nicola'.
You all do NOT know this woman. And I don't either!!! Maybe she IS a shit stirrer, maybe she is thriving in the drama.
But aren't most of y'all, too?
Polin fandom built so much off of putting down other women to uphold Penelope: Marina is a bitch who was TRICKING Colin and Penelope was just doing what she had to do!!! Of course she kept her secret from him, she was SCARED!!! Eloise is a privileged brat breaking the rules and putting herself in danger but Penelope is a rebel who is building her own success off of taking necessary risks!!!
Our good, Darling Penelope versus that evil whore Marina/Eloise/Cressida/Any Other Woman.
This fandom is predominately female. Most of us identify as women. And a lot of us are *mean* to other women. We uphold sexism in our fandoms, uncontested, as often as we please. But we frame it in criticism of a man and so that's okay- as if that in and of itself is somehow uplifting women, being tied to a feminist cause- but putting down other women in conspiracy theories and bullying them, as occurred to Jade, under the guise of 'oh I'm just criticizing Luke!' is disingenuous. It's an excuse. 'I'm mad at him for-' not being your fantasy.
And Nicola isn't, either.
The truth is, the people in this fandom don't have respect for EITHER of them, just in different ways. A pedestal is a pedestal is a pedestal, and no matter what, any human being will fall from it eventually. And this fandom has proven that when that happens, it will NOT be met with empathy.
Now think about who that will actually hurt in the long term.
A lot of people in this fandom have soul searching to do.
#lukola#nicola coughlan#luke newton#bridgerton#polin#can't care don't care some of y'all are beyond 'delulu'- you're just cruel and want an 'acceptable' target to bully#guess what: there isn't one

This is why I turned anon off because genuinely some of you think you can pressure me out of my ideas because I've not come to the same conclusions as you and every post I make needs to be written in such a way I'm always wagging my finger at left leaning misogyny
You know when white women overly talk about being white and add a million disclaimers when they talk about misogyny??
Some of you think anybody ( woc )who criticises liberal misogyny needs to do that with moc being sexist
The fact that dumbass did the whole, you think black men aren't going to call you that? Yawn!!! Booo! You're stupid, probably unemployed and socially isolated

Listen I’m enjoying East of Eden for all the Biblical allusion and its meditation on trauma, grief, and the impact trauma has on communities
But I think Steinbeck’s misogyny and racism is so overwhelming that it’s almost impossible to take his other comments on society seriously
Because if he’s so blind to his own internal prejudice- how much can I possibly trust his judgment on biblical interpretation and the truth of American community consciousness during the 19th-20th century?
Anyway, for commentary on the life in the American West, and the impact war, famine, and diversity had on creating the collective identity of the American people, during the 19th and 20th centuries, seek authors like:
Gertrude Stein, Willa Cather, Edith Warton, Zora Neel Hurston, Rebecca Harding Davis, Alice Walker, Susan Glaspell, Marianne Moore, Sandra Cisneros, Elizabeth Cook-Lynn, Joy Harjo, N. Scott Momaday, Lanston Hughes,
(and SO MANY MORE)
All of these authors deal with the subjects (to various degrees) of class vs individualism, American emergent Identity issues, industrialism, tradition vs modernism, and multiculturalism in the West in ways that are much more nuanced than anything Steinbeck ever wrote.
Some of them wrote with clear Christian overtones- some with indigenous religiosity and recrimination of internalize colonialist attitude existing within pop-christian thought, and some of them are pure modernist empiricists. And I love the diversity of thought extant within these works- much more interesting than painting with broad generalization and assuming all of American history to revolve around the same conceptual points modern evangelist's decree.
We are a nation built on diversity- of people, of thought, and of place. I'll accept no other definition of what it means to be USamerican.
At this point, I'm pretty sure Steinbeck was just projecting his own hatred of women, and processing his divorce, throughout the entirety of East of Eden- like the book gets so close to interesting biblical allusion overlay onto familial interdependent dynamic and mediation on the nature of evil - but then his work devolves into racism and misogyny diminishing the impact of these really interesting themes.
BOOO!
Why do I have to read this. I hate the so-called Literary Canon.
So sick of the fact that I have to read the work of every white American man ever- for the purpose of my degree program's culminative exam- yet many of the women authors, indigenous authors, or multiethnic authors will not be on my exam.
IDK bro- I'm feeling a type of way about it today.

i know a lot of writers lament about publishing nowadays, especially the promotion of yourself on social media. But are there things in contemporary publishing that you are glad changed and would NEVER want them to be 'like it used to be'?
Totally!
First of all, when I started as an agent, email querying and submitting was JUST coming into play as a normal thing, and there was pretty scant info about agents and whatnot online (no QueryTracker or anything like that) -- before around Y2k, authors had to, you know, type their queries, do research on agents in physical books, mail queries through the post -- and worse, agents had to print out full manuscripts and post THOSE to editors. Booo! So, a bigger barrier for entry to authors, a bigger pain in the ass for agents and editors, and all around, yuck.
Contracts -- when I started, most all contracts were still required to be multiple copies of wet ink signatures on paper -- the printing, the mailing, what an UNBELIEVABLE pain that was. (And while this was STARTING to change ten years ago or so, it didn't change across the board until the pandemic, honestly.)
Payments and statements -- when I started, no publisher or agency had direct deposit. They'd send us paper checks, and we'd in turn send paper checks to authors. All the hundreds and hundreds of pages of royalty statements came on paper, which we'd have to copy and send to authors, or scan into our own computers to email and file the paper somewhere. (I still have multiple large filing cabinets STUFFED with paper statements and contracts I'm afraid to get rid of!) -- This started to change maybe 10 years ago, as the largest publishers got electronic statements under control and some publishers and agencies got direct deposit, and then the pandemic happened, and now almost (ALMOST) everyone has both. This means people get their money more swiftly and safely, and I'm not swimming in piles of horrible paper statements come royalty time, THANK GOD.
Also, in my early days and before that, there was a LOT more open, toxic behavior tolerated. Straight up racism, misogyny, handsy men... you get the picture. Like, obvs there's still definitely some misguided statements that get made by publishers, micro-aggressions for sure exist in corporate workplaces, etc, but -- trust me when I say, back in the day, people were absolutely unafraid to say VILE things in totally matter-of-fact ways, like, just MACRO-AGGRESSIONS during business meetings and stuff, which I HOPE and believe they'd think twice about today or face repercussions for. There was also a huge drinking culture in publishing back in the day, which is far less normal today -- that can't have helped! So while, yes, I do miss the lavish parties and dinners we used to have, I definitely DON'T miss some of the stuff that came with that!

I mean it's funny because you see the same deep seated misogyny in slash fandom today. And that's mainly written by and for women.
But there is something to be said about how men value the camaraderie of their male friends over their romantic partners. Like I've worked in queer spaces and the gayest shit I've ever seen is straight male bonding. Because tons of it literally involves putting women down.
The bottom line is we haven't gotten much better in our attitudes towards men seeing women as partners.
Someone said (can't remember who) "we raise girls on romance and we raise boys on porn and it's of course a disaster."
Like women can be mothers raise children keep a house hold and man still won't think of her as the love of his life, and he leaves her for another woman, "booo evil!!!!" But if he leaves her for man? "Love wins!" lol like I get it there is still a lot of pressure for folks to be straight but what a quiet horror show that most have been for women. To be tricked into these loveless marriages. Everything you know is a lie. Your husband put your body at a fair greater risk. And years later folks in the media write their "love story."
I'll never stop thinking about how women aren't viewed as whole people and how we've been treated. I never stop thinking about about how many women want to divorce themselves from being women because they think "well I have thoughts and I think differently! So I'm not like those other girls" bitch yes you are. We all have worlds inside of us and just like you.
Ancient societies portrayed deep, intense, passionate love between 2 men, like Gilgamesh and Enkidu & Achilles and Patroclus, not because of like... gayness per se, but because gender divisions were so severe and cultural opinions of women so low that it was believed men could only achieve deep, real love and form lasting, powerful relationships with other men. Ancient Greeks practiced pederasty and male/male companionship not because the whole society was gay asf (unless...................?) but because it was the bond between 2 men or a man and a boy that was considered the most important emotional bond a man could have, and formed a large component of his socialization and cultural learning. Women in these societies were not social, cultural equals on any level. There was an idea that an Athenian woman should only leave her home twice: once to go to her husband's house on the day of her wedding, and the second time as a corpse to be buried. In ancient Mesopotamia, a woman or girl who was physically outside the home was considered sexually available, equivalent to a prostitute, with no social clout or value. (None of this means, btw, that women never left the house, etc. but these were the cultural attitudes all women contended with regardless of class.) It can be frustrating to see people on Timblr weeping and moaning over the power of these love stories--which, I can relate to, I cried the first time I read the Iliad! But given the intense misogyny on this site as a whole (funny since it's the female website), it feels like yet another symptom of the closed-circuit minds on here that identify most passionately and intensely with men and relate to men's struggles, men's feelings, men's partnerships with each other, in a way that they can't or won't begin to do for women.

funny that i just saw a post about the lost generation writers bc i was about to make a post about hemingway. anyways i have hated hemingway since i was in high school bc i was always like "booo misogyny and machismo booo short and choppy sentences." i have never wanted to read much by him until super recently because, unfortunately, as someone very interested in the spanish civil war, he happens to have written one of the most celebrated novels about it, for whom the bell tolls. i read homage to catalonia by george orwell about a year ago, and i finally got a copy of the time of the doves by mercè rodoreda in english and am reading it now, but i really want to read for whom the bell tolls next. also, as a bitch living in southern france and planning to visit paris in early march, i really want to read a moveable feast as well. unfortunately he has written so much about france and spain, two countries that interest me, in a time period which is especially interesting to me. idk maybe i'll finally have my hemingway appreciation moment

hot take but E-girls and VSCO girls deserved so much better. like how about we don't hat e on girls for every little thing they do, because no matter what they're either too basic or too different. especially since I do personally consider E-girls to be their own branch of an Alternative subculture, with their style having a lot of inspiration from the older emo styles.
like oh my gosh they're just teen girls having fun and dressing in a way that makes them happy, only to be made fun off by grown men on the internet. don't stan that.
#thia is possibly the most political I've ever gotten on here so i swear I'll be back to my regular scheduled shitposting soon#I'm just really tired of this happening cause it sucks y'know#phrase it or however you want claiming your not doing anything wrong but its misogyny and also just creepy if youre a full grown adult#dont even get me started on making fun of girls who do tiktok dances like omg just let them vibe#like theyre just dancing and having fun with friends on a social media originally designed for teens and everyone is being super mean to em#like booo let them vibes my dudes#not that women haven't been mean to egirls and vsco girls in the past#like my friends made constant vsco jokes when it was a trend but none of them had a reason except 'theyre embarrassing'#dory speaks
