Tease Tidbit Tuesday but late
So i'm not writing a lot at the time, i'm a little sick i think??? but here we go. I was tagged by the perfect @bangpop91
Tommy is missing fic inspired by @annurb :
“Let's go check on your idiot.” “I don't know if I want to claim him right now, he lied.” Lucy nudges his shoulder, smiling reassuringly. “He didn't mean any harm, I'm sure. He must have a bad cold and didn't want you to take time off to look after him. You know him, he doesn't like to depend on anyone.” Buck sighs, before his hand scratches the back of his head. “I know, but I'm his boyfriend. We're supposed to be a team, in good times and bad. In love and in snot.”
Crack BuckTommy fic ft Jee and Maddie:
“Mommy, can I ask you a question?” Maddie stopped in mid-motion, her hand near the switch on Jee-Yun's bedside lamp. Her eyes fell on the little girl wrapped in a large, starry comforter. It wasn't the first time that bedtime had turned into an interrogation. A way for the little girl to grab a few extra minutes of wakefulness, and satisfy her curiosity. Maddie offered her a knowing smile, ready to fall into the child's trap so that she too could enjoy her daughter a little more. “What is it Jee?” Maddie expected anything. She and Chimney had quickly discovered that the “why” period of three-year-olds was not just a myth. This juvenile curiosity mixed with hours spent with her Uncle Buck watching documentaries and visiting the zoo at least once a month had become the source of almost every sentence uttered by the child. “Grandpa PipPip is your daddy, right?”

ok so i’m gonna ramble in sections
section 1: cgi moustache
FUCKING HILARIOUS like it was so bad it was funny HELP also buck’s hair was season 8 hair too it’s so funny like WHY did they reuse this HAHA
section 2: confession part 1
as short of a scene as it was, this was really nicely shot imo. and the tears in eddie’s eyes when he spoke like RYAN GUZMAN UR SO GOOD. but also how does buck (best friend) rank about girlfriend like hmmmmmmm
section 3: FUCKING ABBY
I CLOCKED IT I KNEW IT i know we always joke about 911 having continuity issues but THIS was such a good way to call back season 1 like insane writing tim minear and i love u for it
section 4: the divorce call
i wish they did more with this call like there was potential to call back to eddie/shannon but they didn’t. other than that i think honestly this is one of the grossest calls they’ve ever been on like genuinely icked the hell out of me with the guts like ugh gross
section 5: josh’s speech
as much as people hate on tommy, i do think josh’s explanation of things does give some sort of context to the way tommy acted in the past. like yeah racism and sexism is bad don’t get me wrong, but tommy did make an effort to change. it’s just that with society and his own work place back then, tommy prob had a lot of internalised homophobia that he expressed negatively outward to others (chim and hen in particular). but josh made a very good point with his speech about pre glee and post glee world (great reference, 10/10) and i think this was one of my favourite parts of this episode
section 6: confession part 2
ok first of all there was literally NO NEED to add that “im straight” “im celibate” part. like that was intentionally written into the script for something bcos that entire section could have been done without the sexuality mention. tim minear i see you. other than that FATHER BRIAN YOU ARE SPEAKING FACTS. my fav line he said was “but we can’t take care of others if we don’t first take care of ourselves”. bcos this is true!! and also a line used in therapy a lot cough. anyway i think the conversation eddie had with the priest was like a wake up call to eddie to start getting his head out of his ass and start working towards something. love this scene 10/10
section 7: brothers and pipes
most of this call was focused on the brothers part more than the well scene call back, tho there was a throw away line from bobby to eddie about how (eddie) wouldn’t fit this time. i do wonder if this happened irl would fire departments legally be authorised to allow children to help with rescues tho. otherwise honestly this was a very cute scene that helped chim get some introspection. i do wish there was more of a well scene call back tho :(
section 8: buck tommy breakup
as a buddie fan, i am overjoyed. but as a buck fan, i am devastated. tommy is actually one of my favourite love interests for buck, and its not just because he’s a dude and sexual awakening all that. i genuinely do think buck and tommy could have had a lot of potential if the show had decided to go through with it, but at the same time ending it here was also a relatively good note. i think in this relationship it wasn’t actually buck who wasn’t ready, it was tommy. tommy is afraid of things not working out in the long run bcos he doesn’t believe in buck’s affection for him being long term. this whole breakup was bcos tommy wasn’t ready imo. i do see the point tommy was trying to make but i also think it was a bit of a dick move to do the whole breakup immediately after buck asked tommy to move in with him. like the timing could have been better tommy. tommy being the one who decided to end things did surprise me tho. but now i feel really sad for buck bcos buck did like tommy a lot, and also as a queer person your first queer relationship is always going to mean a lot to you
section 9: MADNEY MADNEY MADNEY
HOLY MOTHER OF- i didn’t see this coming i didn’t but i am so here for it. the amount of trust and communication between chim and maddie is literal relationship GOALS like they lay out the boundaries and have healthy discussions about having another kid and it’s just so UGHHHH I LOVE YOU also maddie already being pregnant FJSJCKSK MORE BABIES
section 10: eddie, the moustache, and the dance
this. was. everything. the significance of shaving off the moustache. the dancing at the end?? no pants too was a choice. like when eddie flops back onto the couch and you see his smile, it’s like you truly see him deciding to finally forgive himself. maybe not completely, because there’s always going to be some guilt he carries around, but he’s moving forward and i’m so, so happy for him. it’s just a fun goofy feel good scene and i love love love this.
special mention: buddie and the couch
i actually think this is the first time both of them are on the couch together. like sitting next to each other with no one else. RETURN OF THE COUCH THEORY WELCOME BACK. ok but the ending scene?? the way they don’t even need words to communicate like- buck not even bothering to question why eddie doesn’t have pants, and eddie not even questioning why buck is here with beer in the first place. the level of mutual understanding has my HEART IN PIECES
overall this is honestly my fav ep this season and one of my fav eps of all time. i can’t wait to see how the story moves on from here ahhhhhhh

9-1-1 8x06 Thoughts on the Buck, Eddie, and Tommy of it all
Okay I have like almost no followers, which makes sense because I usually only normally lurk here. I'm also sure none of my followers are into 9-1-1 here, but I just need to scream into the void on the off chance someone sees this. None of my friends watch this show so I really just hope even just one person reads this and makes me feel a little less foolish because a lot of the discourse here is so "us vs them" and black-and-white. This is gonna be obnoxiously long, so I don't expect anyone to read all this, if any of it, but I'll put a TL;DR at the end. I will not be bashing Tommy or Eddie in this post! Also I'm typing while it's late for me and my ADHD makes me a horrible proofreader, so sorry for typos and the such.
I hate fandom drama, I cannot care less about whatever beef bucktommy stans and buddie stans have I've been trying to mostly ignore it. I'm just upset if this ends up being sloppy writing on the 9-1-1 team's part. I'm gonna try to be nuanced about how I felt about 8x06 because I feel like there is a way to do this and not completely screw the writing for either Tommy or Eddie.
Tommy does not have to be endgame, that is fine. I think Eddie is definitely more popular with the fans and plenty of people love a good slow burn. Their chemistry is also undeniable. But plenty of people enjoy Tommy too, despite his cavalcade of haters. And to have thrown away what seemed like a character arc in the making for him seems like a waste if this is the last we see of him? I hear he's going to be in at least one more episode, so I hope they do that justice. I don't need them back together, I just need this to make better sense.
I know people really hate Lou and Tommy, but I'm pretty neutral about him. (Idk how true the very little things I've see about Lou is because I keep hearing he's homophobic, misogynistic, racist, etc. but I have not be able to find any receipts. If it is true, that sucks and I get why they would try to write someone like that out of the show. However, just I'm gonna focus on it from purely a story perspective right now.) I enjoy seeing Buck happy after all the shit he's gone through in his past relationships. I was cautiously optimistic from the interviews that said he was finally "getting of the hamster wheel". But yet again, Buck loves with his whole heart and has his hopes dashed. It would have been one thing if Buck was the one who ended things, but really? This again? He doesn't need his heart broken AGAIN. I don't care who Buck ends up with, I just want him to be happy and secure with whatever partner he chooses.
Why bring back a previously established character who has some growing to do and then throw them away again? Boooo, if they wanted Buck and Eddie's queer awakening arcs to happen separately, and weren't interested in expanding Tommy's character, they should have just set up Buck with random throwaway guy. Otherwise it's just drama for the sake of drama instead of something that's in greater service to the narrative or character writing. Tommy becoming Eddie's friend first especially feels too intentional. Tommy already having established relationships with Hen, Chim, and Bobby feels too intentional.
Tommy's insecure feelings over Buck eventually choosing someone else, likely Eddie, over him is incredibly real and make sense. He's never felt like he's had a place to belong in general. He's jealous of the 118, he's jealous and threatened by Eddie's relationship with Buck. Honestly, I also wouldn't be surprised if Eddie was the one who caught his eye at first because it's not that hard to clock Eddie if we're being honest. It's pretty clear Tommy was baffled that Buck was fighting to get his attention over Eddie's. Why set up this arc and end it before it's even started? If there's a ever a starting point for Tommy to grow, it's right here and now. Otherwise it makes no sense.
At the same time, Eddie's character writing makes ZERO sense if he isn't a deeply closeted gay man (or at least asexual, but that's unlikely, especially with the way they've been positioning Buck and Eddie for the longest, and especially the way they position Eddie and the Hot That whole interaction with the hot priest and the mustache, beard, fruit juice, plenty of metaphor we all picked up on that. Never has an actual straight character said "no offense, I'm straight" like that within the context of the surrounding narrative. Like come on? Denying yourself FRUIT JUICE? Denying yourself joy?? which gay used to be a synonym for? Girl, please. And even with Josh's speech a bit? I think it's obvious enough that it could also be extended to Eddie, even though he's closer to Buck's age. Growing up Catholic is pretty rough for queer people.
On top of the fact that there are plenty of other hints while he did/does have love for Shannon, it was almost always in the context of that she is the mother of his child. He literally had a panic attack over someone mistaking Ana for his wife, and over their relationship starting to get serious. Ana is a lovely lady that most men that are attracted to women would be happy to have... so what's the issue, really? And then he only thinks about staying with her simply because she could be the new mother to his child. Be so for real.
And Eddie honestly has been pretty awful to the women he has dated, and you can either choose to read that as him being a chauvinistic, exploitative pig (doesn't really align with the rest of his character), or someone deeply in the closet who doesn't really want to be with a woman. (yeah, that's sounds more accurate.)
We can reconcile all of this though. Buck more than likely has romantic feelings for Eddie, I think it'd be silly to think otherwise, but even though Buck has figured out who he is, it doesn't mean Eddie has yet. He's made progress, but he has at least a little ways to go left. As far as Buck knows, Eddie is straight in this moment. He's never hesitated to write him off as his "best friend", while Eddie... well, he'll realize he's in love with Buck soon enough.
Still, I feel like it's a bit disingenuous to say that Buck doesn't care about Tommy at all, he is clearly hurt by the break up. At the very least, even if they don't get back together at all, they need to talk this out like adults and have Tommy explain himself better, because it's obvious Tommy has walls from from past experiences. Doesn't make it okay that he did Buck like that, but no one on this show has been perfect so... 🙄 At the very least we should get that one episode from that "See you around, Buck" (Ouch, Tommy. Though I feel like that was more so Tommy distancing himself to Buck to protect himself more than to hurt Buck.) Though just as easily, we might only ever see him here and there again on calls that require air support so who knows. 🤷🏾
There were some pretty obvious parallels set up between Abby and Tommy this episode. Abby and Tommy were both firsts for Buck, they're both around the same, older age. Both of them are experienced and life and deeply lonely, so how could they possibly turn away someone who has as much love to give as Buck does? Both of them are, seemingly, just stepping stones on Buck's way to self discovery. Buck even says it himself, he calls their relationships "transformative", but obviously because the experiences Tommy has had as an older queer man, he's probably not a stranger to beings someone's flyover until they get to their actual destination. I understand why he would want to protect himself like that.
Even if that's the case, I don't think Buck would want to leave things like this. I know in one of the interviews Oliver says Buck is be heavily considering if he wants to fight for this or not, but at the very least I hope they've shown his growth and showcase his emotional intelligence by calling out Tommy that it's not fair to him to sorta decide how he feels, even if it is Buck's first relationship with a man.
It's far from Buck's first relationship and idk, it feels a little icky to tell the bi person to go fool around a be a slut when he's said that he's tired of sleeping around and wants to settle down. That can just be a character flaw with Tommy (I've met plenty of biphobic monosexual queer people), but at the very least can't Buck call him out on it? Let them have a more mature, complete conversation and let Tommy say the quiet part aloud. At the very least, I get Tommy's intention, he doesn't want Buck to have any regrets, but I don't think he knows just how much he's hurt him and how many times he's been through the situation.
Something really upsetting, even though Tommy has had his problems and hasn't been the greatest person, really sad about any closeted queer person who's been nasty, but much of it came from circumstance, not getting a chance to grow after they literally set that up with the script. Well, you do you I guess. At the very least if Tommy is nothing more than a plot device, couldn't you have let Buck come to conclusion they should break up and give him even an ounce of power in his romantic pursuits for once? Instead of the one loving too hard and too fast and hurting from it? The interview where (I don't remember who exactly) said we wont be seeing much more of Tommy, if at all really annoys me because if this is it? Ugh. That break up didn't feel conclusive at at all.
TL;DR: Wasting a previously established character as a plot device after setting up what seemed like some sort of character arc for him even if he wasn't Buck's endgame seems like really sloppy writing if you decide to discard him back into the obscurity for the rest of the series. It feels like a cheap way to add extra drama and the implications and situations you could create from at least dragging this out a little bit more could create a more satisfying resolution to this at the very least. Why retread old ground again when you said that you wouldn't and waste all the potential you were setting this up with this scenario? It still seems unresolved, so hopefully this tie this up, regardless of who Buck ends with in the end (because the focus really should be on Buck finally getting the love and care that he deserves in a romantic relationship, or at least getting to end one amicably.)
Anyway tear me apart, ignore me, whatever. IDC anymore.

So I’ve worked out my theory based off everything we know, plus the stills.
My theory is that somehow the subject of an open relationship will come up. I know this has been suggested, and IMO, maybe it’s the person at the cafe (because I think we’re assuming that picture we saw weeks ago of Oliver in his work clothes at a cafe is this ep?). Maybe they know Tommy, maybe they’re just trying to flirt with Buck or Tommy, maybe a number is offered and they don’t know either of them.
And I know people complain that they don’t want communication to be the issue bc BuckTommy are so good at it, but hear me out. Would it ultimately be a communication issue (in some form)? Yes. But also.
In my head, he (Evan) gets upset at the suggestion that this person may (or may not) have had something with Tommy (or wants it, or some variation of that), which led to him assuming that Tommy either a)has been seeing other people the whole time, and/or b) wants to. So ofc Buck goes to his sister in a tizzy bc he has strong feelings for this man he’s been with for six months and things have been great and Bobby is finally back and blah blah blah, but he’s not sure he can do this whole thing of an open relationship if that’s what Tommy wants.
Queue Josh walking by and being like “open relationship? Tommy Kinard? Wait, you might be available soon? And/or Tommy” at which point Maddie explains what’s going on to Josh and he’s like “oh you sweet little baby bi.”
So then we get a talking to about how Tommy likely wanted Evan to have the option bc (multiple reasons but I’m going with the obvs stereotype: some bisexual people want access to both men and women regardless of relationship status). And Buck is like “but I’m very secure in my relationship so that must mean he wants to see other people.
Again, queue Josh laughing. “No no, Buck. Tommy Kinard is so beautiful in the WeHo community that any time he’s been single, a bat signal goes up. Before you, that man was a regular at the gay bars, especially during theme nights. I’m assuming you’ve heard about the karaoke trivia? He was the winner three years running.”
“Your point?”
“My point is he maybe shows up once a month now and doesn’t even participate because he’s off the market. Anytime I see him out now, it’s one drink and he’s gone because he’s got somewhere else to be.”
At which point we get the explanation from Maddie about him definitely being sure of his feelings this time, and that he should probably tell Tommy.
So then we get the loft scene, Evan explaining how he talked to them and Tommy’s lil smiley face being all “I never talked to anyone else, I just wanted you to have an open line of communication if that was something you were interested in.”
We get something akin to “I’m not interested in anything but you. Maddie said after our first date that I wasn’t sure of my feelings, but I’ve had a lot of clarity on that over the past few months, and I think I panicked because the last time I said this, if wasn’t from an honest place.”
And then we get “said what”
“I love you.”
Kiss. End scene. Roll credits.
(Okay maybe the end is more wishful thinking but I think the theory has legs!)

Leaning on the counter, pamphlets and catalogs spread out on the counter, between the two of us. Side eyeing the bruises forming on Bucky’s knuckles.
“What did you punch?” I ask innocently.
He chuckles, “nothing,” flipping through a catalog slowly.
My lips pucker, watching him now.
"You didn’t have them this morning.” I point out.
“I know.” Flipping a page.
“Who did you punch?” I huff at him.
He looks up winking at me. “Someone looking at you.”
Nodding slowly, I tip my head to the side. “So, I can do that too.”
“No, you lick me. You made your choice.” He chuckles.
“Because you told me to stop punching people outside of The Ditch.” I remind him with a smirk.
His lips press together slowly. “Baby girl, no.” He points a finger at me. My head tips.
“I thought it was fair, if you do it. I can too.” I grin.
“I don’t go around punching people for fun.” He huffs, shoulders dropping.
Lifting my brow at him, waiting.
“Our breakup was a different story, Y/N and you know that!” He levels me with a look.
I shrug. “Marriage is a different story too.” Whispering softly as I pick up a venue pamphlet flipping it open.
“You’re going to beat someone up, aren’t you?” He sighs.
Shrugging, I tip my head from side to side. Looking through the pamphlet in hand.
“Oh, good you’re both here.” My mother breezes into the room, a little short of breath. Rocking jeans, sneakers, and a black T-shirt. Nothing close to her normal attire she wears. Her hair looks messed, a small cut on her cheek. Her own knuckles look to be bruising.
“Mom?” Bucky speaks up first.
Winni is right behind my mother. Jeans and a dark grey T-shirt. With what look like dark splatter marks on the front of it. Her hair was in a messy ponytail, looking quickly redone. She has handprints on one arm. Her knuckles bruised and a nail broken.
“What the fuck?” I stare at them.
“Oh, good you’re looking over Venues.” Winni smiles.
Ignoring our comments.
“See I think that we should go with this one.” My mother leans over me, grabbing a different one holding it up to me. “And keep this one as a back up if the first doesn’t have available dates.”
“Your father found some charming homes.” Winni joins Bucky pulling home catalogs towards them.
“You’re just ignoring the fact you have blood on your shirt?” He looks to his mother.
Both look down at Winni’s shirt,
“And you have a cut on your face, and both have bruised knuckles. Like James.” I comment.
Each of them look down at the other’s hands.
“Starting to feel real left out here.” Huffing as I flip over the pamphlet.
“You beat up someone and didn’t let her join?” My mother shakes her head at James. “You know that’s going to cost you.”
“I know.” He sighs.
“You’ll learn, or she’ll start beating you up Buck.” Winni snickers.
“Hello!” I throw my hands up, looking at the three of them watching me. “Who did you two beat up and since when did you do dirty work?” Looking between the two.
“Who says we never did dirty work?” My mother lifts a brow at me.
“What?!” I blanch at her.
“Maybe you just didn’t pay attention.” Winni shrugs, flipping pages, tapping on one page showing James something.
I squint at my mother. “That’s a cheap shot on your cheek. You underestimated them.” I pout softly looking at the wedding venue she picked out.
“Maybe I need to join you and Frankie in the ring more.” She comments, grabbing a diet soda from the fridge for her and Winni.
“I got my right hook from dad.” I smirk at her.
“Yes, but I baked the evil into you myself.” She winks at me.
My head tips softly to the side, shrugging. She wasn’t wrong.
“Our children are going to be evil, aren’t they?” Bucky sighs.
“If you have a girl, will she take the table next?” Winni looks from her son to me.
We exchange a look, he shrugs, I smirk at them. “You better hope the boys have boys, she’ll need someone to run the table with.” Going back to the wedding info in front of me.
“A generation of girls, heading the table. Could you imagine?” Winni grins at my mother.
My mom grins, watching me. “Told you, Winni, she was going to change everything she put her mind too.” I smile pretty, filled with cockiness.
“Or her fist.” Bucky snickers.
I stick my tongue out at him. Our mothers laugh.
“Okay wedding details.” My mother turns her attention to the counter.
“Your father has a few opening to let you do walk through, if you want, I can come with.” Winni changes the topic.
“If we do this,” I wave my finger at the counter “will you answer questions, or at least like three after?”
My mother sighs, “if you agree on some details to this wedding, I’ll answer three questions to be exact.” She settles me with a look.
“Fine.” I roll my eyes.
“And you’ll behave at Howie’s wedding.” She adds suddenly.
I gasp. “I was good at Wanda’s!”
“Y/N,” she blinks at me.
“UGH!” I huff loudly. “Fine!” Throwing my hands up. “But if he is 30 seconds late to that wedding, I’m cracking one of his ribs.” Shaking my head, shrugging a shoulder.
“That’s fair.” Bucky nods, agreeing.
Our mothers’ smirks at one another.
“Fine.” They agree.
Around two hours later, we finally agreed on a venue, a color scheme, top three houses and bridal parties. Dropping back in my seat, I look from Winni to my mother.
“Who did you beat up?” I ask.
My mother sighs, pausing for a moment. “Louise Kasady.”
“CK’s mom?” Bucky’s brow jumps up.
I sit up straight.
“What?” I blink at them.
Winni sips from her soda can. “She is leaking information to Eddie. Can’t be allowed.” She spoke casually, looking down at the houses decided on.
Bucky and I exchange a look.
“She fought back?” Lifting a brow.
My mother waves her hand. “She wants revenge for her son. Her husband isn’t the same, I guess.”
“Since my dad broke his hand with his foot?” Bucky smirks.
“And you killed her son. The woman just can’t take a loss and move on.” Winni sighs.
“Her son wasn’t even a high up. I don’t see the need for revenge.” My mother shakes her head.
“She say anything?” Tipping my head.
My mother presses her lips together. Winni inspects her can.
“Mom?” Bucky watches her.
“Nothing we should take serious, honey.” Winni smiles, only it shakes slightly on the edges.
“Shouldn’t we get to decide on that?” His brow dropping down.
“Mom,” I stare at my own. She chews the inside of her cheek for a moment.
“She said you won’t last at the head of the table. That you’ll be the fall of our families.” She watches me, fear in her eyes.
Nodding slowly. I look to Bucky who is watching me.
“They better get through me. And if she falls, I’ll take everyone of them with me.” His blue eyes darken with anger.
“She said you won’t make it to marriage.” Winni whispers.
I grin. “They come for him, and hell better bring it’s biggest army, cause I’ll destroy everything in my path.” Shrugging.
Bucky smirks, nodding softly.
“I am Satan, and hell has nothing on me. Or what I will do to this town, if so, be it.” Looking to my mother.

"Oh, Tommy didn't have any development once he got together with Buck, he didn't interact with the rest of the 118, he's boring ~"
Yeah because it was a short season where they had to cram everything in? The second half of the season wasn't about Buck? It was about planting the seed of their relationship and then seeing how the GA reacted? It's about continuing to show them settle into something domestic and real once bi Buck and Tommy were taken well? And then giving the other characters room for their main storylines? Bobby dealing with Amir and the cartel and his house exploding? Hen dealing with Mara and Ortiz and her family? Eddie cheating on his girlfriend with a doppelganger of his dead wife because he hasn't gotten over that trauma yet?
If you want more Tommy next season, where he has more room to develop and interact with the other characters well why didn't you just say so?
#911#tommy kinard#momo.txt#idk i like tommy if they dont put him in s8 it'll be a huge waste tbh#not only is he perfect for buck they work really well together they have amazing chemistry#but tommy fits so seamlessly with everyone else as well#hes old friends with chim and hen and new friends w eddie#bobby thinks hes good people and good for buck#maddie was sooo excited to hear her brother gush about the hot pilot#he fits in perfectly! hes set up to integrate with the rest of the 118!#and also on a more GA perspective-#i wanna see cool helicopter rescues#and shenanigans

no but "tommy's good people. he's good for you" was INSANE like why did they make bobby say that three eps/couple months into their relationship? especially in a scene that was a long-time coming moment of bobby acknowledging how much buck grew up over the years and how proud he is of him, a moment so important to buck and bobby's relationship and extra important to bobby at that time because of what he was going through. like they didn't have to?? bring up tommy?? at ALL?? i feel like im going crazy
#i personally dont think it means much re what they're planning with bucktommy in the long run#i dont think it was a ChoiceTM bc this show drops storylines like hot coal#and back in the day i could see bobby maybe saying this to eddie re ana before they decided that relationship ran its course BUT#it's still an insane moment IN-STORY#bobby acknowledging not only buck being bi is a non-issue but also he approves the guy he's dating#that he's seen the guy BE GOOD FOR BUCK#the guy who for all intents and purposes bobby knows the past/background of probably better than buck at this point#also something so precious with “he's good people” vs “he's a good person” idk i dont have the english skills to explain why it strikes me#as a more intimate and personal and honest observation from bobby#ughhhhhhhhhhhh#bucktommy#buck x bobby#911#mimi.txt

no but the way buck's whole fiery attitude towards gerrard changed the moment he started giving buck some attention and praise... to be fair some of that can probably be chalked up to the fact that buck was most likely still agonizing whether he wanted to hurt him intentionally or not but girl you got ISSUES
#people really keep sending EDDIE to therapy huh.#the way buck couldn't help it but suck up a little bit too#😭#even if he complained about everything to bobby afterwards he'd still rolled over first 😭#BUCKKKKKKK.#911#911 spoilers#the reasoning behind the change of attitude is so ambiguous rn that we SHOULD play with it a little i think.#like girl your self esteem. you good#911 meta

hi friends, i'm gonna share something i've shared before because i LIKE it a lot + buck being a demanding bossy bottom is sooo good (but pls dw eddie gets his turn at being a sloppy silly bottom too and he's SO hot for it)
anyway this is nsfw
“Buck, baby. I want to ask you something.” Buck nods wildly, knocking his nose against Eddie’s in his fervor. “Fuck and talk at the same time.” He reaches down and grabs hold of Eddie’s ass with both hands, squeezing and pinching as he lifts his hips up to fuck himself on Eddie’s cock. “C’mon, Eds. Be a—a good boy for me. Fuck me—fuck me please.” Bubbles of static electricity swarm Eddie, springing from each point of contact between them and ricocheting to every untouched inch of his body. He drops down heavily, blanketing Buck’s body with his own, and fucks hard and sloppy and eager. Buck muffles a hiccuped moan against the scruff of Eddie’s cheek, breathy and pitched high. Eddie grins, mollified. “Like that, baby?” “Yeah,” Buck grunts, panting against Eddie’s cheek. He wraps his legs around Eddie’s waist, kicking him closer and deeper with his heels, and meets Eddie’s thrusts with little ones of his own. “Yeah, fuck, like that. Just like that.” Eddie finds Buck’s lips, eating the mewls that fall from Buck’s mouth. It’s little sobs of too-good, too-sharp pleasure; a staccato of breaths that get stuck in his chest on each withdraw and shoved out on every thrust forward. Eddie’s so deep inside Buck—he can feel himself, right up in Buck’s guts, beneath the muscle and fat of Buck’s tummy where his prick’s at, twitching from friction and sensation. “Buck,” he says, smearing Buck’s name all along Buck’s cheek and throat and chin. They’re so wet, so sweaty, that Buck can’t get a good grip on his back to scratch his nails in without slipping. “Buck, baby. Marry me. Please marry me.” Beneath him, Buck’s body jolts. “Goddamn, Eddie,” Buck swears, but it kind of feels like a benediction, a prayer sweeter than any he’s every heard. Buck cradles his cheeks in both hands and sucks on his tongue, loud and free in his pleasure. He laughs like sunshine. “No.”

It's pretty clear that the way they're writing Tommy is different from the way they've written all his past love interests, and this had nothing to do with the fact that Tommy is a man.
It's about Tommy being friends with Eddie (and Christopher) before going on a date with Buck. It's about Tommy knowing Hen and Chimney and Bobby already. It's about Tommy being invited to Maddie's wedding. It's about Bobby telling Buck Tommy's good people (and we all know how important Bobby's approval is for Buck!!!). It's about Tommy showing up for Buck, like none of his past love interests has. It's about Tommy being invited to Christopher's surprise party, about Tommy being involved in Buck and Eddie's friendship, showing that he's perfectly fine with them being that close and that he's never gonna have a problem with their dynamic. It's about Tommy having screentime not only with Buck, but with his family, too. It's about Tommy complimenting him and making him blush and giving him everything no one has ever given him before.
This has to mean something. Tim doesn't do things casually, and I like the way he thinks so I'm so excited to be a part of this journey and I can't wait to see our boyfriends thrive and be happy together. Forever.

To think that Buck's always been bisexual without realising it, checking out hot guys' asses because he thought that's normal. He's crossed paths with many hot guys in his life. He works with hot guys, his BFF is a hot guy. He's been in multiple situations where there have been innuendos thrown at him of his being gay/queer.
But he still never thought much about all of that. Until one day, he met Tommy.
It took one hell of a compelling man like Tommy Kinard for Buck to relentlessly pursue this subconscious attraction till he'd finally had a taste of what it was like, and known for sure that he liked it and wanted more of it.
This is the most obvious indicator that Tommy is not just any other guy. Buck had many choices and chances before to question and explore this part of him, but Tommy is the only one who shook something in the core of Buck's being and made him want it so bad, that he had to keep trying till he got it. The attraction is unlike any he's ever felt before, and not because of the gender of the person, but because of the intensity of his feelings towards him.
Buck wanted Tommy's undivided attention, he wanted to keep spending time with him even if that meant making random excuses, getting to know him better. He couldn't get Tommy out of his head. That's how magnetically drawn he was to Tommy. Tommy's gender is not really a big factor here as most people believe it is, because the key takeaway here is that Buck's never felt this drawn to anyone – girls or guys.
Just because Tommy is his first queer experience, doesn't mean that Buck's using him on a trial basis. That boy's down bad. And that has nothing to do with the novelty of dating a man. It's all got to do with who Tommy is as a person, how patient, caring, and understanding he is, and how happy he makes Buck, making him feel safe and loved in all the ways he's never felt before.
That's the whole point of it. In Tommy, Buck's met someone who could very well be the love of his life. It's just that he never thought it would be a man. For Buck, it's so much more about finding lasting love at this stage, than it is about playing around with this newfound aspect to his sexuality. This is more than a coming out arc. This is a romcom as well, where Buck has finally found true love. He's getting off the hamster wheel for good. His father-figure Bobby and everyone around him can see it.
Tommy is clearly being written as Buck's endgame, and I don't see how anyone in their right mind can be blind to the significance of this storyline. I for one am super-thrilled and optimistic about all the possibilities of Buck and Tommy's romance moving forward! 😍🥰❤

Absolutely in love with how much depth 7x03 added to Bobby just by showing us what he must’ve been like when he was a young firefighter who hadn’t been promoted to captain yet. There’s the physical ability that reminds you that he was literally born and raised to do this job, and makes you imagine what stunts he was pulling when he was 30 years younger and hadn’t broken his back yet. The quick thinking and leadership skills that he’s been honing for his entire life. The level of calm and care he showed to the others that tells you that people must’ve felt so safe in his hands even on the worst day of their life. Everything about this episode showed just how good he was at this job and how he earned his promotion.
And then there’s the absolute devastation he felt when he lost Wes that suddenly makes it crystal clear how this job he loves so much set him on the path to alcoholism. The ease with which he shut off his own pain and stress to focus on moving forward and taking care of the others that makes it clear how nobody might’ve seen that he needed help with coping until it was too late. The fact that his actions were so reminiscent of Buck that Athena made the comparison out loud, and you understand that he’s so strict with Buck now because in his youth he was Buck and he knows how he turned out, so he does everything he can to give Buck the guidance and support he needs not to self-destruct like he did. You can also see in this episode how he knows that being good at the job is not enough and why he makes sure his team takes care of themselves just as much as the people they save.
He is a fourth-generation firefighter and this job has shaped so much of who he is from the day he was born and 7x03 just did such a good job of showing that
#we’ve seen glimpses of all of this but 7x03 shone a giant spotlight on it all for 42 minutes and it was beautiful#i’m literally so obsessed with this episode this was god tier bobby content#bobby nash#911#mine.#text#bobby#911 spoilers

Felt the urge to add a little something to this ficlet
Jee hates the baby.
It's glaringly obvious and has been for weeks, and Maddie can tell it's breaking hearts.
Buck and Tommy look like they haven't slept in a month, which she's very secretly pleased about mostly because they're always so good at taking care of other people's kids that they've gained a sort of muted awe among the rest of the group - how easy they get kids down for bedtime and how rested they look when parents show up, how sweet and kind and polite the kids always are at handoff and how the kids keep up that out of character behavior for at least half a day for their parents, too.
The baby is a game changer. The baby is making her brother and his kid-whisperer husband human again.
Maddie should probably feel bad that she's taking such private glee in watching them both down a fifth cup of coffee and go a little pale when the baby monitor set up next to the couch kicks up noise. She should probably feel bad that when Tommy swings up out of his seat with a hand curled around Buck's shoulder, his knees and back snap crackle pop their way into an upright state. She should feel bad about the tired sigh that escapes Buck's lips as Tommy shuffles off towards the baby's room they'd spent months laughingly arguing about as they grinned the grin of first time parents who'd never actually had a reference for how on-call they'd be once the kid was born.
Tommy hums his way back down the hallway with a fussing bundle and gives them both an exhausted smile as he shuffles past them into the kitchen, and Jee glares daggers at his back.
Oh, she should absolutely not take any pleasure in that.
It's just -
Buck has given her way too many details about the shit they got up to after a weekend taking care of Jee. Cheeky grins and the unsubtle widening of eyes and the implication that if either of them could get pregnant...
And Jee, in turn, spending days after reciting the things she'd done with Tommy like Tommy hung the goddamn moon and the stars, how sweet it'd been the first few times until she'd started to get annoyingly jealous of Tommy and how easy it all seemed for him.
Buck, at least, she knew got overwhelmed sometimes by the sheer amount of energy Jee had. Buck at least had the courtesy to look a little frayed around the edges on day three when Jee was swinging off his arm and trying to weasel an extra day of Buck and Tommy time.
Tommy always just grinned indulgently and looked a little sad to be going, like he could stand another few months of Jee screeching before he felt the slightest inclination to give her back to her parents.
Serves him right, actually, Maddie thinks, and then levers herself up off the recliner to go do the dishes piling up in their sink because they're too damn tired all the time to get to them.
---
Jee hates the baby.
Chim has watched her working her way through those feelings for a month, now. He's watched her put on a brave face at the sight of baby Kinard's squalling, wrinkly newborn face - watched her scowl at the bundle in her uncle's arms every time Tommy gets all doughy and enamored with something as simple as a tiny little hand reaching up for his chin - watched her throw herself a nice little fit when it was Athena and Bobby showing up to babysit for Date Night instead of Buck and Tommy.
She's a strange, mercurial little monster, and she hates a fucking baby. He should maybe check that.
It's just -
Her scowl is a new expression, and it reminds him so startlingly of her mother that every time he sees it he gets a little misty-eyed about it.
He's throwing a casserole in the oven, the baby monitor for once prised from Buck and Tommy so that they can take a nap while Chim tidies their living room and cooks them dinner, when Jee tugs at his pant leg and all out glares at the noises coming from the little device. It's just little snuffles, at this point - certainly nothing too dangerous, nothing that's gonna wake her exhausted parents in the next room, nothing that should bother Jee-Yun at all, except there she is, grimacing away as Chim watches the grainy video feed for a moment just to make sure the baby isn't gonna turn sideways and stick her head through the bars of her enclosure like Buck had apparently done once.
They don't talk very often about baby Buck, because baby Buck had been a miserable bastard screaming his lungs out because not only was he a tiny little thing with a mother who neglected him but he was usually in some type of discomfort and pain, those first six months. But it's a story Maddie remembers distinctly, and one that doesn't actually feature the Buckley parents actively ignoring their kid, so.
Jee protests when he swings her up into his arms, and protests some more when he tries to set her down in the living room five minutes later so he can start clearing away the various piles of baby crap taking up space all over the room. He remembers what it had been like, that guilty feeling of leaving for work with stuff just taking up space everywhere, and he remembers how it had felt to return to find Mrs Lee bouncing a near catatonic Jee in her arms, humming some Korean lullaby as she wiped down the kitchen counter, and Chim realized that all the stuff was back in it's place, his apartment looking tidy for the first time in what felt like months.
He remembers trying to work up the energy to feel guilty about someone else picking up his messes and being unable to do so for how damn grateful he felt instead.
Chim tries the cleanup song to distract Jee but she wanders off with something tucked into her fist and he knows, he just knows he's gonna end his tidying up with scrubbing some crayon graffiti off one of Buck and Tommy's walls.
---
Mara is a little obsessed with the baby.
Things are stable enough now that she feels comfortable in it - in watching the baby lift her head and cry her eyes out and giggle when one of her dads blows a raspberry into her stomach.
Mara begs to be taught how to support the baby's neck and how to angle her bottle to feed her and how to change her diaper and swaddle her, wants Tommy to wrap the baby up against her chest in the baby bjorn and only pouts a little when Tommy solemnly informs her that they just don't have the right size wrap for Mara.
Mara sits primly next to Buck on the couch and peeks over the blankets in subdued awe when the baby yawns, or farts, or smacks her tiny baby lips after finishing her bottle.
Mara is doing everything she can to convince Jee that the baby is actually a good thing but Jee isn't fucking having it.
---
It's not like Tommy hasn't noticed it. He'd have to be blind deaf and dumb not to notice that Jee hasn't dropped an Uncle Tommy since the day they brought Charlie home from the hospital.
He's just got no idea how to bring it up without sounding like a crazy person.
He already feels half insane from sleep deprivation, and he can't justify bringing it up to Evan when Evan's under-eye bags have gone from sensible purse to checked luggage in the span of a month and a half, the same as Tommy.
So he sits in it and he stews and he burps Charlie while across the room he can feel Jee burning a hole into his back with her eyes.
The thing is, every other child-adjacent human in this extended family loves Charlie a stupid amount. Mara has to be bribed away, and Harry and May have already offered up their babysitting services with gleams in their eye. Denny's spent hours just watching her through tummy time, and Chris will talk to her like she's a proper little adult who has any idea what he's saying and isn't just enamored with the inflection in his voice.
Jee full stop hates Charlie, and Tommy isn't an idiot - he'd love to have the energy for a piggy back ride or a Bluey dance party or literally anything more than ruffling her hair when he greets her and Chim or Maddie at the door.
He's just so damn tired.
And Jee clearly thinks that means her Uncle Tommy has been stolen from her by the loud, stinky, fussy baby.
---
California's paternity leave situation is...better than a lot of the rest of the country. They've had a solid two months to watch Charlie grow, and eat and sleep and work her little facial muscles until Buck can convince himself she's smiling at them.
He'd gone back to work first. It'd made sense for them to switch off, once they reached a point where they could sleep a solid four hours in a row, and as reluctant as Buck had been to miss a single milestone, he'd known that six weeks from his return he'd be the one allowed to take advantage of their family leave to watch his kid gurgle and roll from her tummy to her back while Tommy got behind the controls again.
The door clicks open and Buck blinks at the new graffiti decorating the space beneath the hook where they hang their keys. He'd thought they'd cleaned all of Jee's latest attempts to show her displeasure at the existence of her cousin.
There's something savory smelling wafting from the kitchen, and when Buck swings in to greet his husband he instead finds his sister, back to him while she holds her phone out like she's recording something, camera aimed over the couch in the living room.
His first few steps on the tile startle her, but she recovers quickly, one hand raised to indicate he should stay quiet while the other gestures him closer.
Tommy's passed the fuck out on the floor next to the couch, which vaguely pleases Buck because he's been a little worried Tommy would forget to rest while Buck was on shift, but it's the rest of the tableau that has him yanking out his own phone as he putters to a stop next to his sister.
Tommy's got company. Jee, half asleep herself, fighting consciousness like only a kid really can, is tucked into Tommy's side, and she's got two fingers being held hostage by Charlie
Charlie coos, and giggles, and flexes her hand, and Jee blinks and yawns and the side of her mouth quirks, just a bit, exactly like her dads does when he's trying to hide a smile.
Buck makes a noise that has Maddie turning to him with a lecture already forming in her mind.
It's just -
When Buck had told Tommy he wanted kids, he'd sort of always assumed the plural was understood, but Jee's blatant dismissal of Charlie as anything other than an inconvenient distraction has been giving him pause.
Except.
Except Tommy's passed out on the floor with his niece half tucked against him and a baby Jee purports to hate has her completely tuned out to everything else in the entire house, and Buck's got that itchy feeling running up his spine again.
Maddie snaps a few more pictures and drags Buck further into the kitchen to point a finger at him.
"You promised Tommy you'd wait at least a year," Maddie reminds him in a hushed voice, and Buck sighs. Runs a hand through his hair. Tries to take another peek at his niece finally finally warming up to Charlie.
"He's gonna be so pissed if she calls him Uncle Tommy while he's sleeping," Buck announces, and fully ignores Maddie's stern look in favor of flipping through the dozen pictures he'd captured himself.

“You really love him, don’t you?”
Tommy’s been staring at Evan from across the room and he’s so focused on the curve of his mouth, as he smiles at something Hen said that he’s startled when Bobby drops in the chair next to him.
“He’s easy to love,” Tommy says softly, like it’s the most natural thing in the world. He manages to tear his gaze from Evan so he can turn to look at Bobby, who’s looking at him with a gentle smile, like he’s realized something.
“People don’t always get that,” Bobby nods. “He’s come a long way, messed up more than a few times, but he’s never been hard to love. It’s why I gave him a second chance, or three,” he chuckles. “You’re good for him,” he adds.
“He’s good for me,” Tommy counters, but smiles wide, pink dusting high on his cheeks.
“I know you don’t need me to say it, but I’m proud of you, too, Tommy. I see everything you’ve accomplished, and you were already a good man when you were at the 118, but it’s nice to see you so settled, at peace,” Bobby declares with such conviction it makes Tommy throat constrict a little. “I guess what I’m saying is, I’m happy you and Buck found each other.”
“Thank you, Bobby,” Tommy says, clearing his throat. “It means a lot. Having you-and Hen and Chim back then, gave me the courage to go after what I wanted. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I stayed, if I had found Evan sooner, been part of the family sooner,” he trails off, a little embarrassed at everything that spilled out.
Bobby claps a reassuring hand on his shoulder. “There are always a millions what-if’s, but if you ask me, I think you found each other at exactly the right time,” he offers. “You and I know anything can happen in our line of duty, no day is guaranteed. We gotta hold on to the good things.”
Tommy nods and if he didn’t know any better…
“You know I already have a ring, don’t you?”
“I had my suspicions, but now I know for certain,” Bobby grins, knowingly.
“Is that.. is that okay with you?” Tommy asks, pretty sure of his answer, but nervous all the same.
“You don’t need my permission, son,” Bobby starts, “but if you’re asking me what I think? Well, Buck’s judgement is pretty darn great, and I’ve never seen him so happy,” he gives Tommy shoulder a squeeze. “Besides, I told him I thought you were good for him months ago,” he shrugs.
Tommy’s heart soars. He knows Bobby cares for him, and the rest of the 118 welcomed him with open arms, but it still shocks him a little to have verbal confirmation of approval. “You mean the world to him, Bobby, so knowing you approve means the world to me,” Tommy admits.
It’s Bobby’s turn to look flustered, opting to smile and duck his head in bashful acknowledgment. He clears his throat, “Alright Kinard, go save your man. Looks like he and Hen found the tequila.”
Tommy laughs, seeking out Evan and sure enough, he’s already pouring shots. He shoots up to indeed save his boyfriend- soon-to-be finance, his mind supplies hopefully. They had a hike planned tomorrow morning and Evan would not be happy with himself if he was hungover for it.
Tommy pauses to steal another glance at Evan and he knows he must have the fondest, dopiest smile on his face.
“Oh you’ve got it bad,” Bobby chuckles, shaking his head.
“Like I said, he’s easy to love,” Tommy repeats his earlier statement. He feels a pull on his chest, as he walks over to Evan, like a string always leading him home.
I could find him, blind, he thinks.
#i just really needed a wholesome convo between tommy and bobby sooo#i give you this#bucktommy#tommy kinard#bobby nash#ficlet#my fic

Another day, another time to debunk shitty takes I see online.
I've seen a multiple of people pointing out that "we don't know anything about Tommy" and how could people ship him with Buck (nevermind that the ship is canon and always will remain so) when we know so little about him?
First of all, I'd actually make a point to say that we as of now already know more about him then all the other LI that Buck or Eddie ever had in the show.
I shall make you a list, so that you may remember it more easily:
- He likes cars and he's a good mechanic (extrapolated by the fact that Eddie explicitly said that fixed/improved his engine)
- He likes playing basketball and he's also quite competitive ("we'll make short work of them" said in reference of Buck and Chim)
- He's sarcastic (the closet line)
- His favourite film is "Love, Actually"
- He loves Monster Truck and Craft Beer, and MMA
- He has a big scar on his chest and it came from a fire in a factory
- He's a very skilled pilot, able to manoeuvre in a hurrican, and doesn't waver in the face of danger
- He likes watching and practicing Muay Thai
- He was a pilot in the army
- He only came out when he started working in Harbor, but prefers not to publicise his sexuality
- He doesn't like Bella Swan (and it's implied he might like Jacob more) and he watched the Twilight movies
- He likes to drive his friends to events
- He has friends that can get him high up tickets for shows in Vegas
- He has permission to fly airplanes for personal reasons when he's not on the clock
- He likes to be helpful and he's thoughtful (driving Eddie to check out his sprain, going to Buck's to clear out the air without prompt, immediately agreeing in helping the 118 with the whole ship operation, trying to get Buck to be at ease on their date)
- He's loyal (he didn't rat the others out when the chief called on their way to Bobby)
- He's a smooth flirt
- He can do a mean mouth static (at least in his opinion)
- He pays the bill on first dates
- He is very much the definition of carpe diem (kissing buck was very much shooting his shot)
- He checks for consent
- He kept contact with Chim ever after he left the 118
- Chim called him for help in the episode Broken
- He went to the 217 and opened the spot for Buck at the 118
- He participated in the betting pool Hen made on how long Bobby would last at the 118 captain
- He apologises when he's in the wrong and is shown to be able to correct his behaviour
- He doesn't like chickens (lol)
- He likes the film fight club and can quote it
- Implies to have dated people he met on a call
See? We know quite a lot actually. So you may get off your high horse how about that.
I don't think I missed anything but do let me know.
