Gambit’s ‘90s Bo-Staff

Anyone else miss Gambit’s ‘90s bo-staff that was modified by Forge?  I thought it was really cool looking and I liked how it seemed to be able to channel his powers for greater impact.  I liked how it was very definitely custom made and more mechanical looking than the more generic looking bo-staff he tends to be shown with for the majority of his appearances.

Theres something special about polearms that I cant quite put my finger on

Watching people actually use a bo staff has made me realise how scary fighting red Robin would be if you were a goon or not trained to the same level. Like I don’t think I conceptualised how much it would hurt to be hit with a bo staff until I saw people twirling those thing and don’t multiple consecutive hits.

Saw a dude (who had a Robin jacket which was cool) add a flip after multiple swings and I can only imagine how much that would hurt if he actually hit someone. Not just the massive arc of a metal pole but a flip as well?!?

I don’t know much about fighting so it’s not until I actually see people with these skills that it hits me how it would actually be

Headcanon that Cass’ general solution to her brothers being upset about something is to spar with them. On one level, the physical activity helps them work through the anger. On an another, getting soundly beaten leads to a certain level of humility that lead to them actually talking. It’s also the only time they’ll go all out in a spar which she personally enjoys. She also enjoys beating up her brothers, just a lil.

Cass to her brothers: Get your ass handed to you and maybe you’ll calm down

Ok so what if Kallus was actually really good with a basic bo staff. Like, very fast and pretty damn dangerous. Zeb does not expect this from him because he saw how Kallus handled a bo-rifle, which is to say well enough but nothing compared to what Zeb himself or any other Lasat would be capable of. Which would make sense. As strong as he is, Kallus is no Lasat. Not only is he not nearly as strong, his hands are a bit smaller too. So handling the bulk of a bo-rifle would be presumably different and harder than a regular staff.

Anyways, Kallus ending up using a simple staff as his primary weapon along with his gun and surprising everyone with how effective he is with using it.
