BLORBO THOUGHT INDULGENCE any thoughts on Gary’s arrogance and how/why he uses it as a cover? Or maybe it’s not a cover and you have other thoughts and opinions on it. I just want to hear Gary personality thoughts if you have any! Everyone interprets him so differently yet similarly at the same time, and it’s fun seeing those takes. Only if you want though
HEY HI omg yes of course i want to!!! i agree that gary gets written in a lot of different ways. i think that’s the case because between say, early os and dp, he’s gone through a lot of interesting changes. so there are a lot of facets of his personality to work with, but you’re right that they all have similarities too!
that being said…i don’t think his arrogance is exclusively one thing or the other. i think by dp, we see someone who is fairly confident in his competency and is respected by his peers and mentors. but if we look at him at the end of the johto arc, or in chronicles, we see someone who’s clearly NOT confident. by jn, he’s kind of gained back the arrogance we all loved from the indigo league.
the interesting thing to me though is…i don’t know if “arrogant” is even really the right word for how he behaves at any point after the indigo league? like on the extreme side, look at how he is in jn! he doesn’t like…rub his achievements in anyone’s face, and the only person he actively puts down is goh (which as much as it’s probably MEANT to be a parallel to the ash-gary rivalry we see in the os, they actually have a pretty different dynamic!). the arrogant one between those two is goh, and gary shows him that by…treating him like a nobody. i don’t think gary’s behaviour towards goh has very much to do with how he thinks of himself, except that he SEES parts of himself in goh - that lone wolf, “i can do it all by myself” mentality he has in particular.
i think i’ve said this before (maybe not here. i don’t even know anymore lmao) but i think what’s so interesting about gary’s dynamic with goh is that on the surface they ARE very similar. i think it’s reasonable that gary would assume the root of those similarities is the same. but it’s not. goh’s refusal to work in a team stems from a fear of attachment. if he trusts other people to watch his back, he’s not going to see when and where they lodge the knife in it. HIS “i can do it myself” attitude absolutely is a cover for that.
but GARY…well, he IS better than everyone else, isn’t he? it’s not about people screwing him over specifically or maliciously so much as it is them just not paying close enough attention. he doesn’t want to rely on others because he sees them as incompetent. or, more than that, because he thinks they don’t work as hard as him. so i mean…you could SAY that’s arrogance, and it’d be true to an extent. but it’s also not incorrect to say that this is the case. he’s consistently a top-achiever in everything we see him do. he’s got a reason to think he’s better than everyone, and the reason is that…he is. what he apparently had to learn off-screen is that sometimes he can still make mistakes, and that other people have things they can teach him.
which brings me to dp, the shieldon episode. is this not what happens here? he’s frustrated with ash for being so very…ash about the situation (read: impulsive), but in the end ash helps him and his acceptance of that help is what makes things work.
generally speaking, gary is someone who observes things. he sees everyone else’s errors because he’s watching for them. and generally speaking…he doesn’t make very many errors himself. so it’s really just a matter of time before someone else screws up…and he’s going to make sure they all know it. so times when he does screw up (i think the biggest examples being giovanni’s gym, the indigo league, and his chronicles episode) seem to weigh pretty heavily on him!
after his loss at the league, for example, he takes training in a new direction. before that, he wasn’t working hard because he didn’t think he had to. and that’s arrogance, 100%. it’s not actually that different from how ash is in the indigo league, but ash to me seems to project arrogance to cover up a low self-esteem…which makes a lot of sense. he’s a victim of bullying, if not as in takeshi shudo’s novelization then certainly by gary lol. gary has no reason NOT to feel like he’s the best (side note: this is not the case for blue, at all, whose arrogance is absolutely a cover up lmao). but where ash has to figure out that like…it takes effort to get good, gary already knows this - he’s just put in enough effort and doesn’t need to keep trying anymore.
until he does, of course. after he loses at the indigo league. he seems to humble out quite a bit then! and we never actually see him like…say anything like “i already have THIS many gym badges” after the “i already have ten” scene in the indigo league. in jn, he never even brings up how many tokens he has. we just know because they show us that he’s leading by a significant margin. so like - his treatment of ash in the indigo league? arrogance, absolutely. his treatment of goh in jn - weird roundabout way of helping him realize he needs to improve himself as a person (he says everything he does is for his own benefit…but he also says that he wants to know if goh is worthy of being ash’s companion. and later he says he wants to know if goh is worthy of working alongside him. which…kind of just reinforces the idea that he expects incompetence from other people, and had a feeling goh was maybe more competent than his arrogance made him seem).
so idk if this makes that much sense but tl;dr in the indigo league, i don’t think he’s covering anything up (he might take it a bit too far for other reasons related to the childhood experience of growing up in the shadow of someone extremely famous and intelligent). he’s just arrogant because he hasn’t learned that he has any reason not to be. and after he does learn that…he tones it down significantly, but he still has that attitude of like…i worked hard and if you want to be on the same level as me, you have to work hard too. or else you’re useless to me. which again yeah. you could call that arrogance. but i don’t know if i necessarily would. he just has high expectations! for himself and for everyone else! and that’s not GREAT, because like where’s the limit, right, but it at least makes him less of a jerk.
#*meta#anon#answered#gary oak#idk if this is a popular opinion necessarily but its how i see it#i can see arrogance being a defence thing against like perfectionism for him too tho#and i think on a smaller scale thats probably very much the case#also sorry if this makes no sense. its very hot today and im exhausted from being outside in it fjskfjkdjs#but thank you SO MUCH for indulging my blorbo thoughts…feel free to pick my brain about my guys literally any time!!

Some thoughts we had on the first alliance raid :D (like, the duty itself)
First boss
-circles appear on ground- haha what's this. That was definitely the "oh right new mechanics" moment lol
I really need to figure out how to aim that thingy, like it targets with a mind of its own lmao
The multi hit stack marker literally does so much damage, especially if some people are down. Based on watching one of the other alliances when I was dead the first try, it can easily do much more than a healer's total HP even on a Sage by the time all hits are done so instas seem very needed here. (That WAS with more ppl dear though)
Dodged everything SO much better after our first wipe, easy to learn the fight blindly
Dragon time
MOST of this fight has pretty clear telegraphs that were guessable on first view. Not too difficult at all
I cannot imagine keeping decent DPS uptime with anything except ranged during the "concentric circles + roaming AoEs" bit though. Chaos
The Warriors of Darkness Ice?
Speaking of chaos
Most of the tells are easy enough to catch and a lot of the worse attacks have longer cast times than you'd think (270 cleave), but it sure is chaotic to keep track of the other two enemies while you fight your alliance's
Genuinely this was a super fun fight though
"interrupt this dangerous attack" okay! "The enemy tank is doing passage of arms in front of them" ohhh
The Boss
Woof
Some of the things were fun to figure out, like realizing the mechanics in the limited size arena or understanding the half room cleaves
Dodging the spreading line AoEs is, uh, hm
It's not the worst but the curving animation for the cleave tells makes it pretty difficult for me to tell the safe quadrant which isn't ideal when it telegraphs like 3
Speaking of telegraphs. Not me looking at the ground dodging ridiculous line AoEs and then realizing the boss started to telegraph directional cleaves and that I didn't know what the first one was. F in the chat
Overall a good fight but some parts of it are hard in a frustrating way
Gen. experience
It's a pretty raid area and I'm def enjoying the aesthetics (though nothing hit quite like seeing Azeyma's arena for the first time, but that's a pretty high bar to clear)
I'm glad there's some animation bits during the "wait for it...!" I think but I imagine that would be a lot more troublesome of a mechanic if deaf
The change to makes orchestrion rolls universal instead of specific is pretty nice imo (even if I didn't get any yet bc day 1 roll fighting)
I'm glad other people were having fun with the experience, that was the best part of it. Two of our party members were kinda being annoying and that took a lil fun out of it (tank seemed to think everyone doing day 1 content are supposed to be savage raiders in skill, and scholar was just frustrating)
(lmao, they got annoyed about potential dps loss from me being rezzed before the first boss instead of respawning. My colleague and fellow party member -- we all got very murdered in the first boss and had the status effects anyway. Also I'm a DNC, not a melee. It's just not that dire)
Even with that, it was a lot of fun, though I don't think it would've been half as enjoyable if not doing it on VC with a friend :D
Also it was like, 5 am and I'd woken up for it lmaooo

Hiiiiii I saw that Childe and Zhongli have their banners together and I was wondering which of the two would be the better pick? You are the Chili expert, so there's no better person to ask c: I want both but I'm F2P so I can only get one.. *sigh* any advice is appreciated! I'm a newish player (started during Baizhu's banner), but I do want to do abyss one day. Thanks for reading and I hope I'm not bothering you
ah hello anon! i hope you're enjoying the game and you are correct; this is my area of expertise ohohoho
the only answer to your question: break out your wallet and get both pull whoever you like more
since you mentioned abyss, all characters are viable some more than others but childe and zhongli are both great for abyss runs and both are considered f2p friendly. if you really want my opinion, i say go for zhongli because childe is for sweaty gamers, whereas zhongli is mainly for people that like comfort but he does appeal to all crowds. they are night and day though when it comes to their roles:
zhongli - off-field support, easy gameplay, easy to build, low investment, good pick for many teams but is usually not the best option
childe - on-field dps, steeper learning curve, harder to build, higher investment, is only good for one team but that one team is arguably the best team in the game and childe will be your best option for that specific team (you can use him as your hydro in other teams but he will perform worse than others)
very long explanations under cut:
there really isn't much to say about zhongli. he is the best shielder in the game and the comfort he brings is valuable. unfortunately, he doesn't provide much outside of defensive utility, which kinda ties in with what i said with him usually not being the best pick for a lot of teams because once ppl learn to survive without his shield, they start to phase zhongli out of their teams for more offensive options. i used to do abyss clears for friends and whenever i felt like i needed more damage, zhongli would often be the first one to be swapped out. that being said, getting hit and flung around or just dying is considered a dps loss lmao so unless you're a pro-gamer with perfect dodges, zhongli will always hold some value. i always bring him on my personal account because he lets me turn my brain off lol
but ya, since zhongli doesn't offer much outside of defensive utility, i do think his pull value is heavily affected by your account and which other characters you might have. characters like baizhu, kokomi, kirara, diona, layla etc will all give him competition and even though they might not be superior defensive options, they offer other utility outside of survivability. he's still a good pull though! there's just many things to consider
childe is unfortunately a one-trick pony and is only good in one team. you are free to use him in other teams, but he is outclassed by the other hydros and requires more effort to learn. his one good team though is arguably the best team in the game and is referred to as international, consisting of childe, kazuha, xiangling, and bennett, and childe is the best hydro for this team. the team is regarded highly by low to mid spenders because a c0 childe can perform on par with many other teams consisting of five stars with constellations and is a great team for speedrunning abyss and has been the only team consistently in the top five of abyss teams for the past two years. a couple of reasons why the team is good: damage is split somewhat evenly between childe and xiangling and you buff both of them, which is unlike teams with xiao or eula where you only buff the main dps. the team has a good mix of front-loaded (childe burst) and consistent (childe melee and xiangling burst) damage, making rotations flexible and adaptable to whatever abyss decides to throw at you (ex: you can kill off a wave of enemies with childe's burst and then save xiangling's burst for another wave). although the team is primarily aoe focused, it still does good damage in single-target scenarios, which is great because most other teams usually are only good in one scenario. the team does have a steeper learning curve and has a bunch of nuances you need to get used to and if you hate xiangling for whatever reason, you will have a bad time, but there's a good reason why childe is the golden child of the speedrunning community
although childe is harder to play, his playstyle is a good gateway to understanding genshin's mechanics, if you're interested in that. also, his complicated kit does mean he has a few tricks up his sleeve that only childe can do and while most of them are situational, they do have their uses and does make him a surprisingly versatile character, despite the constricting cooldown
anyway, since childe is heavily tied to international, i've linked a good video below if you feel like watching to get a better understanding of his playstyle (it's a long video, but the basics section is the important part and it's not that bad and also i like the cute fanart lol). also, even though international is good, it is overkill and you don't need this much damage to clear abyss, so if that doesn't interest you, then maybe childe isn't best for you, but he's still a good pick. sorry that this is so long, but i hope my response helps and that it all makes sense!

Language Genre on Twitch
Twitch is another language genre that I am interested in looking at. As a huge gaming fan, I always liked watching live streams on Twitch.
The language genre on Twitch differs slightly depending on the type of stream one is watching. Therefore, I collected certain screenshots from the "Just Chatting" meta and the "Gaming" meta, specifically for a Final Fantasy XIV and League of Legends game. I also collected screenshots from international and local streamers.
Twitch language genre can be categorised into these main categories:
The use of emotes (with and without words)
The use of Twitch specific slang
The use of gaming language (for gaming streams)
The lack of capitalisation and punctuations (unless to express a heightened emotion)
The use of emotes (with and without words)
Emotes are different from emoticons, in that most of these are specific to Twitch or to the streamer itself, therefore, there is a huge variety of emotes on Twitch. There is also an extension called BetterTTV on Chrome that adds even more emotes that you cannot see without the extension.
As you can see from the above screenshots, there are so many different emotes to express different emotions and the sentiment of the message one wants to portray. Due to the fast and live nature of the chat going live, emotes are used instead of words as emotes can be sent out faster.
These emotes can be used as a standalone message, or can be used to complement the message that is being sent. This is true for both Singaporean creators and international creators.
2. The use of Twitch specific slang
There is certain slang that does not get used outside of Twitch. Some examples of that include "OMEGALUL" in all caps, "modCheck", "KEKW" in all caps and "coping". Certain slang that are not specific to Twitch get used as well, such as "LMAO".
"OMEGALUL" and "KEKW" are variations of laughter used specifically in the Twitch chat. This is slang that is not said out and is meant to remain in a textual form only. "ModCheck" is usually directed towards the moderators of a chat when things get out of hand in the chat, while "coping" is a verb form originating from another Twitch-specific slang, "copium". This is a mix of the words "cope" and "opium" and is used when suffering a loss, defeat or disappointment.
These slang are all only meant to be in a textual form and not verbally spoken and also are only found to be used on Twitch. This applies to both Singaporean streamers and international streamers.
3. The use of gaming language (on gaming streams)
Twitch started out as Justin.tv and was initially meant to be a platform for gaming streams. However, over time, this platform started branching out to other genres of streams. Twitch is still known abundantly for gaming streams, however, and thus many gaming languages still manage to bleed into other genres as well.
In the above screenshots, there are certain words, such as "farm", "gameplay", "rank", "climbing", "level" or "lvl", "cs", "drk", and "dps". Some of these terms are game specific, while others are universal gaming language.
"Farm", "gameplay", "rank", "climbing", and "lvl" are general gaming slang. "Farm" means to earn experience in the game or gather resources, while "gameplay" is the overall gaming experience one has when playing the game. "Rank" refers to your position on the leaderboard in a multiplayer online game, and "climbing" simply means climbing the leaderboards. "Lvl" is a short form for "level", and refers to the level that a game character is at.
"cs", "drk" and "dps" are game specific. "cs" originated from League of Legends and refers to "creep score", which means the number of minion or neutral monster kills one has in the game. "drk" and "dps" originated from Final Fantasy XIV, and refers to "dark knight", a job class in FFXIV and "damage per second" respectively.
4. The lack of capitalisation and punctuation (unless to express a heightened emotion)
The other screenshots also illustrate this category, but here are other screenshots that illustrate this category clearly. Due to the fast and live nature of the Twitch chat, there is simply no time to type out punctuations and capitalisations, especially if there are many people in the chat. This feature stems from a real life limitation of time.
The exceptions are only when trying to express a heightened emotion. This is seen in the first two screenshots of this category. Similar to other platforms, capitalisations are usually only used for this purpose and not for anything else.
With the rise of technology, forums of the past have evolved into live, synchronous communication with other people in the audience and the streamer. CMC is slowly moving towards synchronous with platforms like Twitch and YouTube while giving a modern twist to other asynchronous methods like Reddit.
Language conventions in the various genres may have risen from a real-life limitation, such as the case with Twitch. Due to the synchronous nature of Twitch as a CMC, a new language genre can be formed and learned at the same time it is occurring, and thus why I believe why the language genre on Twitch is so different from the other social media platforms.

13-25 raestoril
HELL yeah raestoril
raes is raenir's gay minstrel younger brother. i do not have content for him yet. consider this content
the rest of this list !
13. If you met your OC, would the two of you get along? oh we would get on like a house on fire. we are both gay youngest-sibling musicians who live to do fuck all
14. How does your OC want to be seen by other characters? he wants to be a light in the darkness, but not in the sort of self-aggrandizing knight way, or even like the quietly reliable dunedain - he just wants to bring a smile to the faces of those who need it, whether by his music or his presence
15. Does your OC have a faceclaim? If so, who? at the moment he doesnt - and i feel like if he did then raenir would have to, and i dont think im gonna do all that lmao
16. What is your OC's pain tolerance like? very low. which is why he's half a healer and half a ranged support. do not touch him he has glass bones and paper skin
17. What is the worst thing you have put your OC through story-wise? the worst ive personally put him through (outside of the events of the second age and the war of the ring) is just the entirely unnecessary sibling drama. he lost his brother, and shortly after his parents (who withered from the despair of the loss), and then after three thousand years he got his brother back, but it did absolutely nothing to solve his complicated feelings
18. Is your OC more cold and detached or up close and personal? he's definitely very personable, but it's almost a front. he's very easy to talk to and he's a great listener, though <3
19. How does your OC behave when enraged? his rage is the polar opposite of his brother's - whereas raenir's is a cold rage, haunting and unrelenting, raestoril has a short, fiery temper, but he's very quick to get over it. he'll yell and bitch and moan for a few minutes, and then he'll be fine
20. Does your OC have a tendency to get jealous? If so, how does this manifest? only of his brother. he's easygoing and fickle until raenir's around - something about him just drives him crazy. the fact that raenir was so important to the last alliance, and that his loss drove their parents to valinor despite the fact that raestoril was still around and still needed them, any time raenir does pretty much anything it's guaranteed to wind him up.
21. Does your OC have any illnesses or disorders? How do they handle it? OKAY yes i was thinking about this but. as a minstrel, raestoril's specialty revolves around dissonance and driving harmful magical effects through his music, and as such i'm certain his hearing is fucked. he's attuned moreso to the magic and the vibrational patterns of his music than anything else and has spent three thousand years training himself to be able to lipread most spoken languages so a lot of people don't even notice unless they're approaching him from behind or watch him closely in combat
22. What character alignment would you consider your OC to be? somewhere between neutral and chaotic good, certainly
23. What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express? his sorrow, definitely - it's the one emotion that doesn't pass through him quickly, it settles in and drags him down, and he just doesn't know what to do with it. simultaneously, he struggles to express it, especially when it comes to complicated situations, like his family
24. What is an alternative life path your OC might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions? there was a part of him when he was young who thought he needed to compete with raenir, and follow him down the martial path. he probably would have become a hunter or a champion, some sort of ranged support dps, but he would have hated it. his place isn't on the battlefield.
25. What is your favorite thing about your OC? he's my emotional support gay minstrel. already. he's nice. he wants to help people. he's just like me. i like him <3
#ask#ouhhh the elves......#'raes has an inferiority complex about being compared to his brother' - [mentions raenir in half these answers anyway]#anywayss. my HoH!raestoril - chronic pain!raenir agenda. do you see.

I'm sorry for your 50/50 loss, especially to Dehya. I won my pull for Neuvilette (his dragon pussy belongs to me now), but I did lose my 50/50 when I pulled for Baishu and also to Dehya and is such a horrible feeling cause like, she's really not a good unit, like what I'm supposed to do with her? (worse of all I got her c1 on standard not that long ago like come hoyo, stop giving me Dehya). I think another problem with Dehya is her weapon type, Mihoyo also seems to struggle with making Claymore users that are good instead of just usable (besides Dehya, both Freminet and Dori are not that good in terms of meta)
Oh yeah, but I'm not too bothered because I will top up tomorrow to get 41 fates, plus with events and anniversary, also the star glitter shop I can get around 50 wish. Grinding 26 more wish is not that hard for me since I'm still in Sumeru, I haven't even done all the quest in Mondstat and Liyue lmao because I'm lazy, also I bought Welkin
Neuvillette is guaranteed to come home, so I'm doing fine.
Tho, I will skip on Furina since she is not my waifu type. I want to get Wrio as well, but we will see.
Dehya kit is all over the place. She can't be a viable DPS or support, and you don't really need her tankiness if you have a healer, shielder, or a broken DPS like Yelan who can wipe the floor real fast.
Dehya is a redundant 5 stars, and you need her c6 to make her usable, why do I have to waste my primo to get her c6 when c2 Zhongli with his shield can make Traveler and their team invincible both in single and co-op? For god’s sake, shield bot Zhongli weapon is black tassel, and he just wanted HP and damage burst artifacts
Why do I need a tank with damage mitigation like Dehya when Yanfei or Xianling can deal more damage than her and Barbara is a free healer anyway? And like you said, Dehya is a claymore user which is a notoriously clunky weapon, people say catalyst is clunky, but I have a harder time with claymore.
HENCE, WHY I'M WORRIED ABOUT NAVIA! She's geo claymore
It's a shame because I love Dehya personality and looks, but for some reason Hoyo seems to not care about her. Freminet and Dori are never meant to be meta, but according to people who have tried Fremi, he is very fun to use with his shatter mechanic.
I have him c5 because I pulled 151 times for Zhongli lmao, but I haven't tried him because Aether haven't met him yet.
The broken 4 stars meta like Xianling, Bennet, Sucrose, or Fischl were miracle that happened when Genshin was still new, they need to be excellent because there wasn't that many units yet both 5 and 4 stars. I think 4 stars nowadays will either be good enough or meh but with a unique mechanic/looks but won't be broken like early 4 stars

#oh is that why people tell us to not mount up?#i know a lot of people say to do that but i could never underatand the reason why lmao
Yea it's mostly for that! Trying to see anything on screen with a bunch of skyscales hovering in your face is impossible (in all parts of the game tbh), and especially on that first attack which is prone to downing players it's even more important to have a clear view of the ground AOE circles and the boss model animations.
I don't have hard proof here but I also read several times that it's a dps loss (understandable, skyscale 1 does negligable damage in comparison to being in the big foot zerg with everyone getting buffed etc.). Wouldn't care so much on any other event but considering this one got the hardest-meta-reputation I'd say the dps argument is fair!
#on a side note - ironically - my personal clues for evading attacks in that meta are audio based lol#i barely watch the animations im more inclined to go with the timing of voice lines#but that's a me thing so it's still really important to keep the screen as uncluttered as possible in this very visually messy fight#budgie plays gw2

Two things bugging me about Overwatch 2 that, admittedly are lower down the infinitely high totem pole of bullshit they need to fix, but nevertheless still bug me and I don’t hear anyone mentioning it.
1. Lobbies kick you out way too quickly. Since they removed medals and cards, they kick you out of the lobby in like 5 whole seconds after the win/loss which makes interacting w/ people nearly impossible.
2. I think dailies should be greatly expanded and the same every single day. I’m tired of having to queue All Roles every single day and having to end up playing Tank when I almost entirely play Support, and occasionally DPS. One of my dailies today (honestly no idea if everyone’s are the same, they probably are but I’ll assume not) is to get 10 kills with my ultimate. Do you know who I main? Fucking Zenyatta lmao.
Never mind who I main, as a Support player in general (unless you play Bap or Moira which I don’t), this daily is almost entirely dependent on the other people on my team being competent players, which sadly isn’t as often as you’d like. I really don’t think the point of dailies should be to force me to play heroes I don’t want to play just to complete a literal grind. These dailies are already effectively chores just by existing, I don’t see why we have to make them even more arduous by making chores that only some heroes can accomplish.
They should be made very generalized to fit every character. 3 games in Role Queue, Open Queue, Arcade, and/or Comp. (and yes, allow us to mix and match). 1 win in any game mode you want (besides Custom which obviously makes sense). 15k HP/DMG/MIT. etc.
This game is a fucking mess.
#random rant#video games#Overwatch 2#Activision Blizzard#I will be ignoring anyone who says hurr just don't play the game then#as that's not a valid response and you know it

Symbiosis - Benimaru & Joker
Summary: Benimaru, Joker, and a former Sister learn how to work through their frustrations with their investigation into the Holy Sol Temple through the one thing they know best: sex.
Pairing: Benimaru Shinmon x Fem!Reader x Joker
Rating: E
Word Count: 2.1k
Warnings: pwp (I didn't even try this time lmao), spanking, vaginal sex, oral sex, dirty talk/degradation, some dob/sub themes, hair pulling, face fucking. I do not count this as dp but some people might. SPIT ROASTING.
Notes: So I wrote this for @tamcitrus and I hope she likes it! It’s like my most self indulgent piece to date probably lol. Idk how I managed to write this while being barely able to breathe but when the inspo strikes what can you do....First FF/ENS piece! I think they may be a bit OOC but...whatever I’m too sick to care.,
“So will you join me, Sister?” The mysterious man asked as he puffed on a cigarette. You stared off at the nighttime skyline, at the temple in the very far eastern horizon. Was this something you really wanted to do? It would be dangerous, but you could sense the power coming from him. Not only that, he had already enlisted the help of the Captain of the 7th, Benimaru Shinmon. It wasn’t as if you’d be taking on the church all by yourself.
Your mind drifted as the King of Destruction peppered kisses down your bare throat. The mission with Joker hadn’t been entirely successful. In the end they were met with Captain Burns who handed you a journal that belonged to the wife of Raffles I. While it was true you did come up with some new theories about the White Clad, ultimately it felt like a dead end. Now you just had more questions than answers and it was incredibly frustrating.
But you weren’t the only one frustrated. Your two new comrades had been too. Eventually you had found a way to relieve the tension that had built up over so many years of bullshit. Having been an orphan and raised as a Sister for the Holy Sol Temple, you had plenty of ill will harbored against the empire. You had long abandoned your title but that didn’t stop the two men from egging you on by calling you by it.
Currently the former assassin was watching through a half-lidded eye as you sat in Benimaru’s lap, your back to his chest as he kissed along your neck and cupped both breasts in his hands. You were already stripped down to your underwear, both men clad in only pants and briefs. Joker tended to observe first before joining in, enjoying taking his time watching the view of Beni turn you on and work you over. Small trails of smoke rose from the lit white stick of tobacco that hung from his mouth.
“You look so pretty like that, Sister.” He drawled, inhaling another wave of smoke that filtered out of his nose. “You like when he plays with your tits don’t you?”
“Don’t call me that,” You protested weakly in a voice that came out as more of a moan than a grumble as Beni began to tweak your nipples between his thumb and forefinger. You began to wiggle in his lap, ass brushing against his stiffening cock in a way that had him biting down on your shoulder possessively.
The cotton panties you had been wearing were soaked all the way through between your legs. This stupid little routine always had you mewling and crying before anyone even bothered touching your needy cunt. Beni enjoyed torturing you too much and Joker enjoyed watching him do it. You had known in the beginning being the only woman in the trio would put you at a disadvantage. You just didn’t know how much.
“Waka, please.” You gasped as he bit down on your throat this time, sucking a bruise into the skin there. One of your hands moved to try and touch your clit for some form of relief, but he warned you by warming up his hands rapidly. It wasn’t enough to burn you but it was enough to let you know that he would if you didn’t play by his rules. “Asshole.” You hissed, pulling your hand back up to a safe distance. You reached behind him and grabbed a fistful of his hair, tugging it angrily.
Beni quickly pushed you onto the tatami mat on the floor roughly, holding the back of your head in one hand, pressing your face against the material as he lifted your hips up with the other. He began to grind his erection against the wet fabric of your underwear, seething as he ripped down your underwear so that you were completely bare for the both of them.
He took no time in slapping your ass in retaliation for pulling on his hair. “Impatient little slut.” He growled, causing you to clench with desire. The way his deep voice reverberated in the small room made you even wetter.
Joker was laughing lightly at the scene. It was pretty typical for you to piss Beni off. And the cute little squeaks you let out as the captain spanked you was just even more delectable than your moans. He finally stood, dropping his pants and underwear at the same time as he knelt before you. Beni took his hand off the back of your head so you could lift up enough for Joker to grab you by the hair and pull you up onto your hands.
He always had an affinity for fucking your warm wet mouth. Something about choking you on his dick felt better than either your pussy or ass. It was definitely his preferred hole, not that Benimaru minded. It was easier to punish you if he had total control of your lower half. You could hear Beni remove himself from the rest of his clothing as well.
At the feeling of his blushed head pressing into your folds, you began to protest. “Beni, you have to-” You couldn’t even finish your sentence as Fifty-Two plunged his dick into your open mouth.
“How many times do I have to tell you, Sister,” Benimaru spat out. “Only good girls get warm ups.” Then he pushed his impressively large cock into your small hole, filling you up and stretching you out with a familiar but still painful burn.
Your cries were garbled by the dick in your mouth. Joker was still, watching the different emotions cross your face: panic, surprise, pain, pleasure. The last one had your jaw slackening for him drool rolling off your lower lip as tears threatened to spill from your eyes. Despite the initial discomfort, there was no greater pleasure in this life than the Captain’s cock being buried balls deep into your soaking pussy.
“This is what you wanted, right little slut?” Beni asked, smacking you one last time as he slowly pulled out and rammed back in, forcing you to lurch forward and deep throat the man in front of you.
You gagged, making Joker laugh at your expense. “I’m pretty sure that’s what she wanted.” He said, given your hair a gentle pull. You struggled to breathe, tears rolling from the corners of your eyes reflexively. You tried to back away from him to give yourself some sort of relief, walls clamping down tight on Benimaru behind you. He let out a small groan at the sensation, though he didn’t budge as you tried to push back on him.
“If only the Sisters that raised you could see you now. Choking on the dick of Holy Sol Temple’s number one enemy. I bet you’d get off that too, wouldn’t you, Sister?” Joker asked as he pulled his hips back enough to allow you to breathe. You shot him a pitiful glare at the taunt, grabbing his bare thigh and digging your nails into it angrily. They always loved to tease you when you were in no position to defend yourself. It could be so annoying.
The pain of your nails tearing at his skin was about on the same level as an insect bite. It was really insignificant to him, and therefore it didn’t cause him to correct his actions. He simply tightened his grip on your hair.
Beni started to move in and out of you at a quick and relentless place. Though he had been kind enough to let you adjust to his size, he wasn’t a total monster. He only started doing with his regular rhythm when he started to feel you relax around him. The muffled moans spilled from your mouth as your eyes rolled back. Any time he fucked you from behind he was always able to hit that sweet stop with his cockhead, the one that had you weak in the legs and gripping him dear life.
Both men highly enjoyed the sounds of you sputtering and crying for more, your words a garbled mess due to Joker’s length plowing into you at a matching speed. The first few times you three had indulged in one another, the rhythms were out of sync and almost awkward. But now, they had the routine down pat. They knew how the other one worked and could easily find the best way to compliment the other’s thrusts. This had Beni pushing in while Joker was pulling out and you stayed as still as you possibly could so that you wouldn’t impale yourself on either of them in a painful manner.
It felt like the pinnacle of symbiosis. Everyone works together for their own gain but not at the expense of the other. In the end no one would be left out or at a loss. You’d have to remember to thank Joker later for gathering the three of you together.
Beni let out a curse as he increased his pace, using one hand to push locks of sweaty hair from his eyes. Sometimes he was convinced that your body had been made for him. He fit inside of you like a hand in a perfectly tailored glove. The gentle squeeze of your kegels anytime he or Joker did something you found particularly pleasurable, whether it was tugging on your hair, slapping your ass, or degrading you with their words, just made him feel so damn good.
Any time he was buried in you, regardless of which hole it was, he always became devoid of any rational thought. The sex consumed all of you, the tension releasing with the exertion of their hips. Infiltrating the temple, investigating Hajima, life had just become so stressful lately. This was the only time any of you could truly just let go.
That familiar tight coil was winding itself up in your lower abdomen, the pressure building with every thrust as you took deep breaths through your nose. “Ahh, Sister,” Joker said through heavy breaths, “You better be a good girl and not swallow right away.”
Of course you knew what he meant, the way his thrusts became a little less in sync with Beni’s and a little more arrhythmic as he chased after his orgasm. He was the first to come, filling your mouth and throat with warm white seed. He pulled away, still holding onto your hair as you stuck out your covered tongue to show him, the white liquid spilling onto the mat beneath you as you were pounded from behind. Your moans were no longer muffled and were loudly filling the small room. No doubt other members of squad seven could hear you, not that you card any more. Konro was probably just shaking his head at his captain’s antics.
“Now swallow.” Joker instructed as he sat back on his heels. Your tongue retracted into your mouth and you swallowed every last drop that hadn’t fallen from your mouth. The blissed out look on your face was almost enough to make him hard again, your whimpers as you neared your peak, the needy look in your eyes. Nothing else mattered in this moment but the release.
You came with another loud cry, collapsing onto your chest as your arms gave out beneath you. Benimaru worked you through it, his balls slapping against your clit had you shaking and sobbing at the overstimulation. A moment later he was filling you up with his own seed, gobs of it gushing out around the base of his cock and onto your folds.
Joker moved to watch him pull out of you slowly so he could observe the gaping, leaky hole. He let out a low whistle at the sight. “Latom,” He said jokingly, folding his hands in prayer as Beni guided your hips down onto the ground. Benimaru rolled his eyes at his partner in crime, making sure to soothe the bruise skin of your ass with his rough hands.
“Get some rest, Sister.” Benimaru said solemnly as he got redressed. “Our investigation resumes tonight.”
You let out a low groan at the reminder, having totally forgotten that you were going back to Hajima headquarters to try and gather more information. “Fine, just let me take a nap first.” You grumbled sleepily. You couldn’t see the soft smile on his face as he glanced at Joker who nodded back in a silent response.
Benimaru maneuvered you to his futon with Joker’s help, covering you with a blanket so you could rest in peace. Then in a few hours it would be business as usual.

So I decided to check and Deadpool DID go to Krakoa! He got there very easily then got into a fight with some mutants who didn't want him around (their loss really). At some point, Rogue came in and tried convincing him to join their "utopia". He basically told them "You call this UTOPIA? What are you even smoking? This, is FASCIST paradise!" and then left them all on hold as he went back to NY. Kurt's few somewhat selfaware moments from his OWN run are NOTHING compared to those DP panels.
Lmao, they really just wanted to use Deadpool to somehow pull together the allegory. If you need a character to say it, your storytelling might be that bad lol

5e Four Elements Bow build (In-depth Theory Build)
(Screenshot from Avatar the Last Airbender.)
Water Whip.
Not that much Earth.
Flames of the Phoenix.
Fist of Unbroken Air.
Long ago, the Four Elements Monk was a viable subclass. Then, everything changed when the Fifth Edition dropped. Only Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, master of making underwhelming subclasses viable, could make this subclass playable.
A hundred years passed and Wizards of the Coast discovered the new Monk playstyle, a bow user using Dedicated Weapon. And although they’d probably be better as a Kensei, there’s still a lot of potential for a cool character. But I believe the Four Elements Monk can be a viable subclass.
Welcome back to the semi-infrequent “here’s a random build I thought would be cool that doesn’t fit any League of Legends characters” series of posts on this Tumblr. But unlike most of my builds I’m going to go fairly in-depth into this and provide as detailed of a guide as possible on playing a vanilla Four Elements Monk with a Shortbow. Honestly this is a build that I have wanted to play for awhile but it always sort of fell on the backburner because I have other characters I want to play more. Ah c’est la vie, but it still means I can share this build here!
WHAT IS THIS BUILD?
In short Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything gave the Monk two very important key features that make playing a Monk with a Shortbow viable. The first is Dedicated Weapon, allowing you to turn any weapon into a Monk weapon as long as you are proficient with it and it lacks the Heavy or Special properties. This sadly means that you can not use a Longbow (as the Longbow has the Heavy property for some reason) but this does make the Shortbow a somewhat viable option for Monks!
WHY A SHORTBOW SPECIFICALLY - Crossbows are still gimped by the Loading property, and this build isn’t designed to use Crossbow Expert since you’ll likely be using your Bonus Action for other things (attacking a lot of the time or to use features like Step of the Wind.) The only other two weapons you can use are a Light Crossbow (which only has one attack and isn’t substantially better than a Shortbow) and the Hand Crossbow (which is pretty much just objectively worse than a Shortbow if you’re not going for Crossbow Expert.)
Crossbow Expert can be used in this build but you will be losing out on a lot of the value. And I mean you could’ve honestly picked a better class than Monk for a Crossbow Expert build.
The second feature that makes this build semi-viable for a Four Elements Monk is Ki-Fueled Attack, allowing you to make an unarmed strike or Monk weapon attack as a Bonus Action if you use a Ki point on a class feature with your main action. While this does accentuate other subclasses (such as the Way of Shadow) this was primarily added to allow the Four Elements Monk to still attack after using its Elemental Disciplines.
The important wording here is that you can make a Monk Weapon attack with this feature, meaning that you can fire your Shortbow as a Bonus Action after using an Elemental Discipline. This gives you a lot more flexibility to stay in the backline as a pseudo-caster, being allowed to use the Four Elements Monk’s powerful ranged options like Clench of the North Wind (Hold Person) and Flames of the Phoenix (Fireball) without it conflicting with your intended playstyle. It’s not as much of a problem that your abilities are ranged when your basic combat is ranged too.
I mean you’d still probably be better just playing a Warlock and spamming Eldritch Blast, but at least the flavor is cool right?
WHY RUN THIS BUILD?
PROS
More flexible short rest “casting” than a Warlock.
Get to use an underplayed subclass.
Get to use a weapon that isn’t often used in 5e (the Shortbow.)
Get to take the Monk class in a unique direction not often possible with other subclasses / builds.
CONS
Very limited use of your other core Monk abilities (notably Stunning Strike.)
Your DPS will be subpar in comparison to other dedicated ranged builds.
You’re still playing Four Elements Monk lmao. (You’ll have all the problems of Four Elements Monk, notably the insane Ki consumption and rather underwhelming spell scaling.)
Like, you’d honestly just be better just playing an Improved Pact Weapon Warlock.
In short the literal only reason to run this build is just to try to make Four Elements Monk viable. If you want something stronger just play a Crossbow Expert Fighter. If you want a viable bow fighter then Kensei Monk is also a considerably better option.
Also because I’m going far more in-depth this time I’m going to be explaining a lot of different options, which are going to be marked and color coded as follows:
✨ OPTIMAL - Grants unique abilities that empower the build specifically.
🌟 GREAT - Very good option with no weaknesses / losses in opportunity cost.
⭐ GOOD - Strong option in its own right but perhaps not too powerful for the build at hand.
👍 OK - Decent enough but mostly for roleplay than actual practicality. Has some flaws that don’t stack up well, or simply doesn’t provide enough to be chosen over other options.
👎 BAD - Don’t pick this option lol. There are other options that are just objectively better.
RACE
So remember how I said I’d go far more in-depth with this guide? Well I’m going to cover all the races, and the pros and cons of each.
👎 DRAGONBORN
While it’s certainly flavorful you’re hardly ever going to get into range to use your breath weapon, and since it scales off Constitution it likely won’t hit even if you get to use it. Your damage resistances will be situational at best. There are honestly better races to get damage resistances from.
👎 PHB DRAGONBORN
See above.
👎 DRACONBLOOD (Wildemount)
You’re a Wisdom class. You shouldn’t be making Charisma checks. Losing your damage resistance for Charisma checks is bad if not arguably worse than the base PHB Dragonborn.
👍 RAVENITE (Wildemount)
The ability to shoot back at someone who hits you honestly isn’t completely worthless, but in this build more than any other Monk build you’re likely going to be using Deflect Missiles a lot. It’s up to you if you think tanking a shot is worth it to shoot back but I’d sooner just play a race with more useful abilities overall.
👎 CHROMATIC (UA)
Total damage immunity is neat. Doesn’t stop the breath weapon from being largely useless.
👎 METALLIC (UA)
The Metallic breath weapon can be nice to give yourself some space, but it’ll come up so rarely it’s not worth taking an entire race for it.
👍 GEM (UA)
Now this is mildly interesting. Having a (non-Concentration!) Flight ability once per Long Rest can be useful! Thing is you’ll likely be using Ride the Wind in this build quite frequently, so Flight loses a lot of its value. And again: both your breath weapon and your damage resistance will largely wind up being redundant.
👍 DWARF
An amusing prospect but there aren’t many Dwarf subraces that work well for a Monk. Thankfully Tasha’s allows you to swap the proficiencies from Dwarven Combat Training with tools (or possibly even a Hand Crossbow if you swing that way) but you still won’t be able to use a Longbow because lol “Heavy weapon.”
👍 DUERGAR
Both Enlarge / Reduce and Invisibility can be useful, but they’re both Concentration spells which means you can’t use them at the same time as your Elemental Disciplines. And man does that Sunlight Sensitivity hurt! Your mileage may vary based on how frequently your party fights in the daytime, but this race is suboptimal at best and seriously detremental at worst.
👍 HILL
I mean, I’m not going to complain about extra health, but it’s largely redundant for a backline character. Take it if you want to dump CON like a gamer.
👎 MARK OF WARDING (Eberron)
None of the spells you get are that good, and you likely aren’t going to be making Investigation / Thieves’ Tools checks as a Monk.
👎 MOUNTAIN
I mean if you want to powergame for that sweet +2 DEX / +2 WIS. A +1 ASI isn’t worth the completely worthless armor proficiencies in my opinion.
👍 ELF
Ah an all-time classic. Can’t go wrong with the Elf Archer. But of course what we’re really here for is the subraces, as the baseline Elf package doesn’t provide much. The one thing that’s worth mentioning is that Elves do gain access to the Elven Accuracy feat, but since you’re likely going to be using Clench of the North Wind (Hold Person) your attacks are going to be auto-critting anyways, so it’s not as useful for this build as it is for an average Monk using Stunning Strike.
Regarding the Aereni, Valenar, and PHB High / Wood elves (Eberron) - The Aereni Elves get Expertise in one skill, making them by far the best Elf if given the option to choose. The Valenar and baseline elves just get weapon proficiencies which you will end up swapping anyways as the only weapon you’re going to use extensively is the Shortbow.
👎 DROW
Your spells scale off Charisma and you have very little practical use for Darkness. Sunlight Sensitivity takes an already suboptimal choice and makes it actively detrimental.
👍 ELADRIN
Teleportation is never not useful. I’d primarily opt for the Spring variant for some utility with allies, but Winter and Autum can also be useful. With all that being said I may be tempted just to play a High Elf for the Fey Teleportation feat.
👍 HIGH ELF
The cantrip can be useful if you take a utility cantrip like Message, Mending, or even Prestidigitation. (I’m actually playing a High Elf Monk right now!) But again: the real reason to play a High Elf is the Fey Teleportation feat.
⭐ MARK OF SHADOW (Eberron)
A nice cantrip, a boost to stealth, and (most notably) the Invisibility spell. Good options if you want a bit of Rogue in your Monk.
🌟 PALLID (Wildemount)
Invisibility is nice but Sleep and Light vary in utility. The real utility however is the Advantage on Insight checks, which for a Wisdom character will be consistently useful! Advantage on Investigation checks is also nice to have.
👍 SEA
Are you in an aquatic campaign? Well here’s your subrace. Are you not in an aquatic campaign? Then this subrace is almost completely pointless.
🌟 SHADAR-KAI
Pretty much objectively better than the Eladrin, and offer a compelling argument to be played with their Necrotic resistance and damage resistant teleport. Just be ready to be called an edgelord for playing the death elf.
⭐ WOOD
5 extra feet of movement goes a long way for a Monk, and being able to hide goes a long way for an archer. The Wood Elf Magic feat isn’t all that useful for you unfortunately.
⭐ GNOME
Gnomes arguably became one of the strongest races in the game in general now that Tasha’s allows you to move their Intelligence boost elsewhere. Gnome Cunning is damn useful, and their subraces aren’t half bad either!
👍 DEEP (Svirfneblin)
Woah an Underdark race that doesn’t have Sunlight Sensitivity?! Memes aside this race has a similar problem as the other Underdark races for slightly better reasons. While other Underdark races are useless in the light Deep Gnomes by contrast don’t do anything when outside of a cave, as Stone Camouflage is situational at best. Still: you can do worse!
⭐ FOREST
Get Minor Illusion, talk to squirrels. Very fun to roleplay though perhaps not the most practical in-combat. You’d be surprised how useful getting help from the birds and the bees can be while out-of-combat, however.
👎 MARK OF SCRIBING (Eberron)
Ah yes; NPC race. Let’s be honest you are only picking this race for roleplay.
👎 ROCK
Even with the bonus to History checks your Intelligence likely won’t be high enough to succeed on them. The Tinkerer trait (while fun) likely won’t be that useful overall.
🌟 HALF ELF
+4 to your starting stats is never a bad thing.
🌟 PHB HALF ELF
+4 to your starting stats and two free skills? Sign me up!
👍 AQUATIC
Is your campaign an Aquatic campaign? If so, proceed to page 4.
👎 DROW
Your casting is still based on Charisma, and you still have little use for Darkness. Even if you don’t have Sunlight Sensitivity the spellcasting won’t be used much realistically.
👎 HIGH
The main reason to make a High Elf Monk is Fey Teleportation, and as a Half Elf you are denied access to that feat.
👍 MARK OF DETECTION (Eberron)
You get some nice utility spells and a bonus to Insight checks. The Wizard can honestly be the one to cast Detect Magic instead, but if no one’s playing a caster you can take that duty.
👍 MARK OF STORM (Eberron)
Boosting your Acrobatics checks is nice for a Monk. Everything else is kinda situational, especially since you can get Gust of Wind as an Elemental Discipline. But let’s be real: the main reason to pick a Dragonmark is roleplay, not practicality.
👎 WOOD
Hiding better or moving slightly faster isn’t worth losing two skill proficiencies.
🌟 HALFLING
You’ll be thanking me when Lucky saves you.
🌟 GHOSTWISE
Telepathy is extremely underrated. At worst it’s a way to justify mid-combat strategizing with your allies, but at best it can be an insanely useful stealth tool.
⭐ LIGHTFOOT
Being able to hide can be useful, but you’re not Rogue.
🌟 LOTUSDEN (Wildemount)
More casting to augment your Four Elements flavor (reflavor your spells as Earth manipulation) and the ability to ignore difficult terrain. The only downside is that the innate spellcasting provided from your race also takes Concentration, but more options are never a bad thing.
🌟 MARK OF HEALING (Eberron)
👏 Cure 👏 Wounds! 👏 It’s more than worth it to have a one-time use of Cure Wounds; boosts to Medicine checks and a one-time use of Lesser Restoration is also extremely useful.
👎 MARK OF HOSPITALITY (Eberron)
Ah yes; NPC race. You’re not a Charisma class so what little utility this race would have is lost completely.
👎 STOUT
Monks get immunity to poison by level 10, but if you’re not going to hit level 10 this might be useful?
👍 HALF-ORC
Relentless Endurance could be useful, but Savage Attacks are largely wasted in a ranged build.
👍 PHB HALF-ORC
See above.
⭐ MARK OF FINDING (Eberron)
A one-time use of Hunter’s Mark may actually be worth it, and Hunter’s Intuition is nice too. Still doesn’t stop Savage Attacks from being worthless in a ranged build.
⭐ HUMAN
Mmmm feat. You know I’m going to speak highly of Variant Human, but we can at least talk about the Eberron humans too.
👎 PHB HUMAN
And the baseline human... +1 in everything is worthless; you don’t need an increase to your dump stats.
⭐ MARK OF FINDING (Eberron)
Honestly I think I’d prefer being an Orc. But yeah: Hunter’s Mark is genuinely worth it, and Hunter’s Intuition doesn’t hurt either.
👍 MARK OF HANDLING (Eberron)
“Hello mister DM I wish to play a Pokemon trainer.” You know exactly what you’re doing as a Mark of Handling Human.
⭐ MARK OF MAKING (Eberron)
Being able to make your bow a +1 almost makes you as good as a Kensei?
🌟 MARK OF PASSAGE (Eberron)
Misty Step once per Long Rest is nice. A boost to Acrobatics is also nice. And 5 extra feet of movement is good too. Together? You’ve got a nice package that comes with roleplay of a Dragonmarked house!
👍 MARK OF SENTINEL (Eberron)
Shield likely won’t be that useful for you as a Monk. The swapping ability can allow you to take a hit for an ally however, and sharing damage is generally a good idea. There are better options overall however (notably you could take 4 levels in Cleric for Warding Bond.)
✨ VARIANT HUMAN
You no longer have to ask if Sharpshooter is worth it, which makes Variant Human a good choice in its own right.
BTW it goes without saying that Custom Lineage is similarly good for this build.
👎 TIEFLING
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless. This means that the only ability you’ll be using frequently is the Fire resistance, which is situational at best.
I’m also not going to mention the Feral Tiefling as the only change is your stat bonuses, which are made redundant by Tasha’s.
👎 PHB TIEFLING
See above.
👎 BAALZEBUL
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless.
👍 DISPATER
Disguise Self is actually not completely useless! I mean, I’d rather be a Changeling. But if Changelings are banned...!
👎 FIERNA
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless.
⭐ GLASYA
Far more useful than Dispater as all the spells are useful (instead of just one.) Still doesn’t change the fact that I’d honestly rather be a Changeling.
👎 LEVISTUS
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless.
👍 MAMMON
All of your innate spells are largely utility based... So what you’re saying is that the Wizard should be casting those spells instead?
👎 MEPHISTOPHELES
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless.
👎 VARIANT - DEVIL’S TONGUE
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless.
👎 VARIANT - HELLFIRE
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless.
🌟 VARIANT - WINGED
The one Tiefling I’d genuinely consider! Innate flight is always a huge boon, and the Fire Resistance becomes a nice bonus. Thing is you will likely be using Ride the Wind to give yourself Flight. But being able to concentrate on other Elemental Disciplines is nice!
👍 ZARIEL
You can at least use Branding Smite on Ranged attacks, but Searing Smite will be completely useless.
👍 LEONIN
Your main ability of Daunting Roar is largely redundant. Everything else is nice but I’d sooner pick a Half Elf or Variant Human.
⭐ SATYR
Magic resistance is always good, and better jumps as a Monk is never bad. Thing is that you legit get nothing else other than skills I guess.
⭐ AARAKOCRA
Innate flight is always a huge boon. Thing is you will likely be using Ride the Wind to give yourself Flight. But being able to concentrate on other Elemental Disciplines is nice!
I’d rather a Winged Tiefling for Fire Resistance, but it’s worth mentioning that Aarakocra have absolutely ridiculous flight speed (50 base, up to 80 at max Monk level.) I mean if your DM hasn’t banned the Aarakocra go ahead I guess.
⭐ GENASI
CON casting isn’t the best, but there are some good options. And of course being an elemental being as a Four Elements Monk is super fun!
⭐ AIR
Levitate is nice, and you can be Aang!
🌟 EARTH
Pass Without Trace can be extremely useful for your party, and Earth Walk lets you keep your mobility up.
👎 FIRE
You can cast Burning Hands as an Elemental Discipline, and Produce Flame is just a worse Light cantrip for you.
🌟 WATER
An obvious choice if you want to lean into the Water Bender aspect, and a really good way for you to produce water for the Elemental Disciplines that require it. (Shape the Flowing River.) Also one of the few ways you can get Acid resistance (like that’s going to come up) and an all-around great choice if in an Aquatic campaign.
👍 GOLIATH
Stone’s Endurance is largely redundant. That basically just leaves Mountain Born which is... alright?
🌟 AASIMAR
Like lowkey Aasimar are kinda OP? Damage resistances, a bit of healing, some Light for your allies (or yourself I guess), and three powerful transformation options at level 3.
👎 FALLEN
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting Fear ability will be largely useless.
Protector is pretty much objectively better since you likely won’t be getting into melee range for the fear anyways.
✨ PROTECTOR
This is the one flying race that I won’t say invalidates Ride the Wind. Having a once-per-day “master let me go all out just this once” ability is extremely for when... well, you have to go all out! Increasing your damage output and being able to concentrate on other Elemental Disciplines is very nice.
👎 SCOURGE
YOU. ARE. LITERALLY. KILLING. YOURSELF. No! Just go for Protector!
👍 VARIANT?
I mean I don’t know why you would but having Lesser Restoration and Daylight might be useful? The official Aasimar is kinda just objectively better though.
👍 BUGBEAR
Your long-limbed trait will mostly be wasted, but Surprise Attack might have some use.
✨ FIRBOLG
Actually an insanely good option if you want to defy the norm and play an 8 foot tall Monk. You have some good innate spellcasting, non-concentration Invisibility that takes your Bonus Action (easily the most useful feature for this build), and Speech of Beast and Leaf as an added bonus. I’d probably only play a Critical Roll cowbolg as a Firbolg, but it’s certainly a great option both in and out of combat!
✨ GOBLIN
Fury of the Small is nice, but what you’re really here for is Nimble Escape. Play what I’d humbly call “shitty Rogue” and Hide every turn with your Bonus Action if you don’t use it for something else.
👍 HOBGOBLIN
Saving Face isn’t worth playing a race that’s otherwise dead in the water. Fun for roleplay I guess and has nothing that goes against your playstyle, but very underwhelming overall.
⭐ HOBGOBLIN OF THE FEYWILD (UA)
I still have no fucking idea why this race exists, but I digress: being able to Help as a Bonus Action is certainly useful, and your three Fey Gift options are good as well. This subclass just gives you more uses of your Bonus Action overall, which (combined with general Monk features) means that you should be able to do something everything round. I’d sooner opt for a plain-old Goblin but I guess if you want some Fey flavor without being an Elf?
⭐ KENKU
Skills are nice. Mimicry is nice. Forgery is nice. This is an RP-heavy race, and you are likely picking it for the RP.
🌟 KOBOLD
Pack Tactics is bullshit overpowered. Sunlight Sensitivity does make it considerably worse however. Results will vary based on what your DM allows.
👍 UA KOBOLD
The loss of Pack Tactics hurts, and none of the options you gain really make up for it. Still the option for advantage against fears or a free cantrip can be nice.
👍 LIZARDFOLK
Very fun to roleplay but you won’t be using a single feature from this race except Hunter’s Lore and maybe Cunning Artisan (if your DM lets you make bone-tipped arrows.)
👍 ORC
So I’m just going to ignore the Volo’s Orcs since the Eberron / Wildemount Orcs are objectively better. With that being said: Aggressive is largely redundant for a ranged build, which just leaves Primal Intuition and I guess Powerful Build as the only traits of use you get. Nothing works against your character but there’s nothing particularly good.
✨ TABAXI
No matter how you spin it Feline Agility is insane for a Monk.
👍 TRITON
The most mediocre of the aquatic options next to perhaps the Sea Elf. Gust as an innate spell will largely go to waste due to your low Charisma, Fog Cloud is meh, and Wall of Water is also subpar. Good for Waterbender roleplay but that’s about it.
👍 YUAN-TI
Get yelled at for playing an overpowered race any% speedrun.
You won’t be increasing your Charisma so your innate casting will be largely useless.
That just leaves you with poison immunity (gained at Monk level 10) and Magic resistance... I’d sooner play a Gnome or Satyr.
👍 TORTLE
Cute, and your Natural Armor will be useful until you hit 20 DEX / 14 WIS. Thing is you don’t need high AC much as a ranged fighter, and the usefulness of this race tapers off massively once the only good thing it provides (its shell) becomes a detriment instead of a boon.
⭐ CHANGELING
You’re not exactly a Charisma character, but innate Disguise Self is never not useful. You can get around low Charisma if you have a lenient DM and good roleplay.
⭐ KALASHTAR
The best way I can describe the Kalashtar is “neat but nothing I’d lose my head over.” Advantage on Wisdom saves is nice, Psychic resistance is nice, and telepathy is also nice. But none of these are traits that I’m going to go out of my way to get. Play a Kalashtar if you like the roleplay, I guess.
👎 SHIFTER
Le furry has arrived. You don’t really need the Temp HP provided by Shifting.
👎 BEASTHIDE
You don’t need AC or Temp HP as a backliner.
👎 LONGTOOTH
You’re a Monk. Why are you taking a race that gets a Bonus Action attack?
👍 SWIFTSTRIDE
Can be good to play keep-away, but I think I’d sooner play a race with higher base movement. You won’t trigger the Swiftstride reaction much.
👍 WILDHUNT
Advantage on Wisdom checks can be useful. Making enemies unable to hit you with Advantage however will come up incredibly rarely.
👎 WARFORGED
The AC boost is largely wasted on a backliner, and the race provides little else of value. Cool RP though.
👍 GITH
Githyanki and Githzerai
Elves that look like they wanna die
All they're about is how they clash
Been around 40 years and their lore's still trash
🌟 GITHYANKI
Like, your spells actually aren’t that shit? Mage Hand is always useful as is Misty Step, and Jump actually has some use for a Monk. (I mean, you also have the Fly spell but...) Add in some tools and languages and there’s actually a fairly compelling argument to play a Gith! I mean, assuming you actually want to play a Gith.
👎 GITHZERAI
Wisdom spellcasting! Thing is that Shield probably won’t be that useful overall and neither will Detect Thoughts. This just leaves you with Mage Hand and Mental Discipline that’s largely made redundant by Stillness of Mind at level 7.
🌟 CENTAUR
You’re trading 40 foot base movement for a slower climbing speed, but you’re going to gain the ability to fly so the poor climbing speed probably won’t matter much. The Fey classification and skill proficiencies also help so if you’re fine with the mental image of a centaur flying around like it’s DBZ.
👎 LOXODON
The natural armor trait is completely wasted as you’ll be using Monk Unarmored AC. That just leaves the trunk for punching, but you can easily let go of your bow for a moment to punch someone who got too close. Could be worth considering if your DM’s an ass with weapon swapping.
👎 MINOTAUR
Every singe trait is worthless for a Monk. Your class will provide you everything that this race would provide.
👎 SIMIC HYBRID
None of the animal enhancements are particularly useful.
⭐ VEDALKEN
Same rating as gnomes because they’re basically just tall blue gnomes. Just play a gnome instead of a smurf.
⭐ VERDAN
Same rating as gnomes because they’re basically gnomes who heal more during short rests and have telepathic emotions. Losing out on Intelligence saves kinda sucks but rerolling 1s and 2s on hit die during Short Rests more than makes up for it.
🌟 DHAMPIR
Unlimited Spider Climb is rather interesting for a ranged character, and being able to increase the damage of your bite to get more value out of the empowerment features is a nice option to have if you’re forced into melee. Just make sure your DM has the same ideas about the bite as you.
⭐ HEXBLOOD
A once per Long Rest Hex might genuinely be worth it. Having Disguise Self and the Magic Token is also great for roleplay.
👍 REBORN
Knowledge from a Past Life can give you some out-of-combat utility and... well that’s about it really. If I wanted to be a skill monkey I’d play a Rogue.
👍 LOCATHA
Natural Armor is useless. Observant and Athletic is underwhelming. Leviathan Will however is still comedically overpowered. You can easily carry a tub of water with you and use your Four Elements powers to keep yourself wet.
👍 GRUNG
Poison can be moderately useful in the early game but it falls off massively late game. The need for water really isn’t a problem, but you’re trading a small (yet noticable) downside for a very small upside.
⭐ FAIRY (UA)
Flight and the Faerie Fire spell that can be cast with Wisdom. Nothing overly special but it’s certainly not bad.
⭐ OWLFOLK (UA)
Having Detect Magic as a ritual without being a spellcaster is very nice, and takes some of the stress off your casters. The real benefit however is Nimble Flight, which allows you to keep your height even if damaged. You do have Slow Fall of course so it’s not like Nimble Flight is saving you much.
👍 RABBITFOLK (UA)
I still don’t see much of value in this race. There’s nothing that would stop me from playing it but it just feels so underwhelming to me overall.
ABILITY SCORES
The big question you’re probably asking is if you should max Dexterity or Wisdom... Max Dexterity lol. You’re still a bow fighter first and foremost. Even if you have ready access to spellcasting you won’t be using it much, and a lot of the options you have available will do damage even if the enemy succeed on their saving throw.
DISCIPLINES
LEVEL 3
👎 Elemental Attunement
Prestidigitation, but worse! It’s not so much that this option is bad but rather that you have so few options to begin with spending one of your precious disciplines on glorified Prestidigitation feels like a joke. Ask your DM if you can just have the Prestidigitation cantrip (or more ideally the four elemental cantrips from EEPC) and get something else that’s more useful.
👎 Fangs of the Fire Snake
You have a bow.
⭐ Fist of Four Thunders (Thunderwave)
Actually not godawful as a get-off-me tool early on. The low Ki cost means that you can (hopefully) knock your target(s) back, shoot them, and then run with your increased Monk movement speed.
👍 Fist of Unbroken Air
The 30 foot range combined with the fact that it knocks the target prone makes this somewhat undesirable. It’s essentially 2 Ki points to fire an arrow that knocks the target back and knocks them prone. It can make for very good synergy with the melee characters in your party pre-Stunning Strike but by level 3 it costs over half your Ki to use it.
👍 Rush of the Gale Spirits (Gust of Wind)
Another decent get-off-me tool but there are so many other, better options. Honest to god when’s the last time you’ve seriously used Gust of Wind?
👍 Shape the Flowing River
Very fun and flavorful but your mileage will vary massively depending on where your campaign takes place and what your DM lets you get away with. If you’re playing Ghosts of Saltmarsh this is crazy good. If you’re in Descent into Avernus? Not so much.
👎 Sweeping Cinder Strike (Burning Hands)
Very low range. Fist of Four Thunders will probably get you more mileage as it’ll do AoE damage and give you space.
👍 Water Whip
Fist of Unbroken Air but you can choose to either pull them closer or knock them prone... Thing is you’re hardly ever going to want to pull them in closer as a ranged fighter.
LEVEL 6
✨ Clench of the North Wind (Hold Person)
“Why would you use this over Stunning Strike?” Because you’re in the backline with a bow, ya dummy! One of the main elemental disciplines you should be using in this build as you can’t just run up and Stunning Strike instead. It’s still extremely Ki inefficient but around level 9 you can spend 4 Ki points (half your Ki lol) to paralyze 2 people, which is kinda good? Like sure a Warlock could paralyze 4 people twice by that point with Hold Person but...
🌟 Gong of the Summit (Shatter)
A strong AoE option before you gain access to Flames of the Phoenix (IE Fireball.) By the point that you get Flames of the Phoenix that will almost always be better unless you’re fighting like, exclusively Monks and Rogues. But until then this is a great AoE option that leverages one of the few strengths of the Four Elements Monk.
LEVEL 11
✨ Flames of the Phoenix (Fireball)
It’s Fireball. Arguably one of the few Elemental Disciplines actually worth picking this subclass over. It’s a shame it comes online so late (by this point casters have 6th level spells) but it still manages to keep competetively viable when compared to the big spells.
👍 Mist Stance (Gaseous Form)
A decent escape tool in a very tense situation, but I’d sooner use the next option on this list.
✨ Ride the Wind (Fly)
The main ability you’re going to be using in this build; shame it comes online at level 11. Flight for any ranged build is extremely useful, and you can essentially cast flight twice on yourself at this point and up to 3 times in one level.
LEVEL 17
⭐ Breath of Winter (Cone of Cold)
A good AoE option but it’s hampered somewhat because it originates from your character, making it hard to position since you’re going to be running around with a bow.
👎 Eternal Mountain Defense (Stoneskin)
Oh boy I sure do love resistance to nonmagical damage at level 17.
⭐ River of Hungry Flame (Wall of Fire)
Big damage in a large, continual AoE that serves as a good capstone for a bad class.
👍 Wave of Rolling Earth (Wall of Stone)
This would be good if you didn’t get it by level 17. Most enemies are going to be able to break through it which makes what little utility it has completely pointless. But I mean at least it’s not Eternal Mountain Defense?
THEORETICAL ELEMENTAL DISCIPLINE BUILD
LEVEL 3
(Elemental Attunement)
Fist of Four Thunders
LEVEL 6
Fist of Four Thunders
Clench of the North Wind
Gong of the Summit
LEVEL 11
Fist of Four Thunders
Clench of the North Wind
Flames of the Phoenix
Ride the Wind
LEVEL 17
Fist of Four Thunders
Clench of the North Wind
Flames of the Phoenix
Ride the Wind
River of Hungry Flame
FEATS
I’m not going to go over every feat but I will mention ones to consider and ones to avoid. Remember that (especially as a Monk and especially as a Four Elements Monk) maxing out your Dexterity and Wisdom should be your top priority.
🌟 ALERT
You already have high DEX so going first would allow you to get Hold Person or Fly off and start shooting.
👎 CROSSBOW EXPERT
You may be tempted to use a crossbow for this build... don’t. If the Artificer got you a Repeating Crossbow that’s cool, but there’s no reason to use a Hand Crossbow in this build. (Especially since you likely won’t have the proficiency for it anyways.)
👎 CRUSHER
Normally a very good feat for Monks but it’s rendered vastly less useful since you’ll be primarily using a bow.
👎 ELVEN ACCURACY
Clench of the North Wind (Hold Person) will make you auto-crit anyways so there are better options available.
👍 FIGHTING INITIATE
+2 to hit from the Archery Fighting Style isn’t worth losing an ASI.
⭐ MAGIC INITIATE
I actually wouldn’t be against MI (Druid) for Guidance, Druidcraft, and Healing Word. Shillelagh unfortunately isn’t as good for you since you need DEX for the bow, and since your Elemental Disciplines are technically “casting” spells you can’t cast Healing Word after using one of them.
👎 MOBILE
You have a bow. Extra movement speed is nice but everything else is largely wasted, especially since you have Elemental Disciplines to give yourself space.
🌟 PIERCER
If you have an uneven DEX score this should be the feat you take. Clench of the North Wind (Hold Person) gives you autocrits which makes the x3 damage from Piercer insanely valuable.
⭐ RESILIENT (CON)
You do need to concentrate on your Elemental Disciplines, and while you are more capable of avoiding damage than most (thanks mostly to Deflect Missiles) you can still easily lose your Concentration. If you can afford the ASI it’s more than worth it.
✨ SHARPSHOOTER
If you’re asking if Sharpshooter is worth it the answer is always yes. It’s not just the damage but the range and ability to ignore cover. I’d probably max my DEX first but at level 12 (Starting at 17 with Standard Array: Lvl 4 Piercer feat > Lvl 8 +2 DEX) I’d take Sharpshooter over a Wisdom increase, as you are still a bow fighter first and foremost.
👎 WAR CASTER
Advantage on Concentration is nice but everything else largely goes to waste, especially since you likely won’t be in range to provoke opportunity attacks anyways. Opt for Resilient (CON) instead.
CONCLUSION
Just play a Warlock, Druid, or Eldritch Knight lol. No matter how you look at it the Four Elements Monk simply scales too slowly and uses up too much Ki to be considered viable.
With that being said: if you’re fine with being subpar in comparison to your peers this build isn’t bad for play between Tier 2 and Tier 3 (from level 6 to around level 14.) You can still leverage the general strengths of the Monk class (Deflect Missiles, Evasion, high movement speed) without facing as many of the class’ inherent weaknesses thanks to the range provided by a shortbow.
Yes you could accomplish the same thing with a Kensei Monk, Shadow Monk, or even Mercy Monk but you get to play a unique fun class with this build. Just maybe ask your DM if you can get more Ki...
#dnd#dnd 5e#dnd build#dnd guide#dnd monk#dnd four elements monk#four elements monk#bow#dnd bow#bow monk#dnd bow monk#avatar the last airbender#lol this build is so bad#seriously just play a warlock

I’m also a little ??? at this whole ‘30’s reel announcer intro thing. It’s very…distinct, but it feels weird to just throw me past a bunch of interesting stuff, like the actual discovery of the signal. This is much more a taste-based complaint than my other remark about story structure, I admit. Just…it makes it feel very clear that the writing priorities are Flashy Action above story.
Another episode of the Clone Wars with no clone content.
WE EVANGELION NOW
I’ve read a lot of fic about Mortis and nobody mentioned that it was an octahedron
So Obi-Wan has that Open Circle logo on his vambrace, but Anakin doesn’t
why does this feel so much like a Star Trek TOS episode
“landed on a mystery planet and there’s a bunch of gods here I guess, whattup Abraham Lincoln”
oddity: she introduces herself as “Daughter” , no article, but the others are “The Father”/”The Son”
If I were in Anakin’s position I would have assumed that she’s immune to rocks tbh. Bitch is glowing, reality is running in fast-forward. I assume she’d be able to handle rocks
Is this the first we’ve seen of Ahsoka dual-wielding or is my memory bad?
smh Ahsoka, short sabers are a massive DPS loss that aren’t worth the additional to-hit bonus. It’s so much easier to get additional to-hit buffs via gear or feats than it is to get additional damage, girl!
“Whoever I’m looking for is in that monastery”
this is such an “I read the script” line lmao he knows nothing about this planet except that its physical features do not adhere to the standard definition of reality, why would a tall building be more relevant than anything else? I mean, it’s an assumption that’s very IC for Anakin, I’m not criticizing that. Just. It’s funny.
i put on my robe and wizard hat.jpg
this mf straight out of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice
…are this guy’s theatrics even necessary? Aside from like, one Mace Windu line I don’t think anyone’s vocally doubted Anakin being the Chosen One
>Obi-Wan straight going 'bullshit’ and drawing his saber on ghost Qui-Gon
that’s my man
I like how Qui-Gon is rendered here (NOSE.jpg) but his voice feels…off. Which is funny, cos I believe this is actually Liam Neeson? lol
holy SHIT, they rendered a blanket. Really breaking the budget for Anakin here
I dunno man, it just feels bizarre and unnecessary to me to represent the Force, something that has specifically never been gendered or anthropomorphized as a single person, as three white people. You can split hairs about how they’re not technically the Force and “only” super-powerful Force beings, but come on. Narratively you are supposed to be taking them as Force Avatars, not a bunch of random assholes high on power. They sure feel like a bunch of random assholes to me, but I’m a mean person
Do you get it. Do you get the joke. Do you get that he’s The Father because Anakin has no father. That is the joke.
GIANT MONTRALS
Do Shaak Ti’s lekku do that awkward thing in profile of dangling over her boobs like this older Ahsoka here? If they do, I don’t recall. Maybe it just looks less odd on her because she’s wearing robes
I really can’t divine the intent, the purpose of this writing, why these people are here, their goals. Narratively or in-universe.
Like, this guy says that he can only CONTROL his children on this planet, and…what does that mean. Are they not sentient? Are they sentient and he just doesn’t believe that? Anakin doesn’t even question the need to control his children (which is, again, very Anakin, but useless to us from an information perspective)
There’s a couple beats of the Imperial March around this guy’s “and a prison” line
Ah yes, so this is where we get that headass “balance is dark AND light” take. I would like to mulishly submit that these are just random, pretentious assholes buying their own bullshit.
“when news reached me that the Chosen One had been found…”
Hang on hang on hang on
You get, like…physical news? I thought you were connected to the Force or some shit. You leech space wi-fi? You steal the neighbor’s papers? Because you’re about ten years late on the whole “Chosen One found” thing and if you’re so hax powerful connected to reality whatever, it’s very weird to me that you’re this dated in your news. I guess this could be a “we perceive time differently because we’re a million years old” thing, but it’s just odd
So far Mortis is a bizarre blend of literal and metaphorical/symbolic in a way that I’m having trouble parsing. Like, The Son’s big fancy plan was just dumping rocks on a bitch on this reality-bending octahedron
LITERALLY if you’re some kind of Force spirit why don’t you just fucking know whether or not Anakin is the Chosen One. Tick of evidence in my “just random pretentious assholes” column
Obi-Wan calls this planet “herself”
stupid-ass fucking regular yin-yang in goddamn incomprehensible space aliens God I hate this so much
“release the guilt and free yourself by choosing [who lives and who dies]”
That…seems like complete gibberish and another tick in my “pretentious asshole” column but whatever, I’ll buy that you believe it
Is it that impressive to lift creatures that already fly?
“it’s symbolic (caw)” note: yin-yang is now completely black
Looks like there’s…constellations in the ring above the arena? There’s a crane in the low-angle shot of Obi-Wan
“It has been foretold that the Chosen One will keep my children in balance!”
By who? When? Is this dude supposed to be so delusional and drunk on power that he’s convinced himself that he IS the Force and that’s why nothing here lines up with greater Force lore?
I really think this guy is just a delusional asshole

Man, I really used to love overwatch. Loved the story, the characters, and how the game played when it was still new... But the community got so so so so toxic and eventually I had to abandon one of my favorite games (not a huge loss tho, with the constant nerfs to my favorite characters--who. really didn't need it?-- and pandering buffs to characters that streamers/"pros" liked to play). The toxicity of the community made it difficult to even read/write about characters I'd liked by association
(This entire post is just me bitching about Overwatch so if you guys aren't into that steer clear lmao)
Yeah, I actually really enjoyed playing Overwatch initially but Blizzard themselves and the game's own community really kind of killed it for a lot of people (though I mostly stopped playing because my laptop is garbage and stopped being able to run the game properly). I actually only played like maybe 3 or 4 competitive matches EVER because the pressure was so intense and people (usually men) would get so vicious if you weren't going above and beyond, not to mention the dudes who always wanted to be solo-healed and babysat. Like if I recall correctly the "I'm already Tracer" meme literally came from a song about a toxic dude demanding another player switch to a healer so he can be DPS and then throws a fit and insults her when she refuses, which let me tell you happens in Overwatch a lot, especially to women, it's not even funny. I remember when Geguri, a 15 year old Korean girl won a tournament and her male opponents accused her of cheating because being beaten at a video game by a young girl shattered their fragile masculinity
I would often play as Lucio for the AOE healing and I always felt tons of pressure playing as anyone else, even in quick matches. Then there was the fact that some characters kept getting completely reworked or made almost completely useless or both (like Mercy), not to mention some characters we STILL know like literally nothing about years later. Like... what's the fucking deal with Zenyatta??? Is that MAGIC? Doesn't his entire story of the omnic Shambali monks literally acheiving spiritual enlightenment PROVE they have a soul? Just forget about him and the implications that has for the omnic war and the lore if the world, anyways here's 5 more new DPS characters that greatly upset the balance of the game because there's already not enough healers and most of the core player base refuse to play anything other than Soldier 76 or Reaper or McCree
There's also the factor of the lootboxes helping start a massive trend of microtransactions and in-game gambling mechanics across the entire gaming industry to the point where certain countries have made lootboxes in games illegal because it's often used to get money out of children
Also Overwatch 2 had been announced to be in development so like instead of improving the original game they're just going to make an entirely new product to sell to prople
And yeah, last point of this long rant but a lot of big name Overwatch streamers or competitive players turned out to be huge douches. There were some that were cocky and malicious to be edgy (I think I'm thinking of xqc but there were so many who were mean to be "funny") and a lot of racism (Asian Overwatch league players have came out and said they've faced discrimination from their own coaches and teammates) and some streamers are just like. Bad people. I used to watch a certain pro play as Widowmaker all the time and it's like surprise, he's cheating on his wife by soliciting nudes from his fans
Ok final point but women who were like three times as talented got constantly passed over for guys to the point women have to make their own e-sports teams themselves
And all of that doesn't even touch on how they jerked us around with lore and characters and advertised the game as being LGBT friendly and like waited literally years to give us two confirmed gay characters and by that point they had strung everyone along for so long people didn't even care. Apex Legends literally came out and capitalized on all the people upset with Overwatch by immediately telling the stories and indentities of all the characters, just fucking DUNKED on Blizzard and became massively popular in half the time
So yeah Overwatch had a lot of good things going for it but the development team and programmers and really just everyone in charge didnt really have the knowing of how to make it better and listened to the wrong kinds of feedback to make tweaks that made tons of people unhappy so... yeah that's my rant because shitting on things is fun. At least it still has a lot of hotties in it
#blizzard after like 4 years be like hey did you know soldier 76 is gay#and so many people had grown attached to him and wrote fics for him that they didnt even care and i was one of them#i still have an old WIP saved for naughty times with that slasher costume he got for halloween

Debuff Zane Build
i am tired of not seeing this build in all the zane build videos i watch so im sharing it here because its stupid fun bc u run fast and kill faster. it’s not meta, but its fun as fuck and u have a lot of damage and survivability with it. I’ve completed M4 Slaughter Shaft with it- haven’t tried on M10 yet but i have faith. p.s its 4 am pls have mercy if there’s spelling mistakes.
what ur gonna need is a band of sitorak, zheitseiv’s eruption, a seein’ dead, and the piss grenade. everything else is fair game, whatever u want. try to get it to have the sntl cryo anoint bc good. but u must have the 4 main items for this to work perfectly (it also somewhat works with a low level Frozen Heart bc best shield in the game but you will die a lot more)
also i need a fucking name for this build help
oh god oh fuck i forgot i was playing through the handsome jackpot dlc again
oki im ready to party
this is my current loadout
sometimes i switch the reg Q-System for a kaoson or a nighthawkin if i need ammo (OP QSystem is... OP but not as fun as a tracking grenade QSystem so i don’t care for it) and maybe the brainstormer for a reflux if many shielded enemies (i prefer the brainstormer over the reflux atm. so try for a brainstormer!!)
3rd slot, that’s a monarch which used to be a dictator b4 it got a straight upgrade. I actually don’t use the bipod unless im in a boss fight and don’t need to move fast. usually violent momentum and violent violence cover the dps loss
ur first 3 gun slots honestly don’t matter much. I have my reasons for using them, but you can use whatever u want i think, so long as its a strong weapon (bc unfortunately a lot of weapons are not scaled for m10). u dont HAVE to use the monarch or the Q system or the brainstormer. I recommend them, cuz theyre fun, but u don’t gotta if u wanna swap em out for a a kaoson or a yellowcake or a sandhawk or smth
the last gun is my zheitsev’s eruption. This bad boy, when u reload, shoots out homing balls of debuffery. So every enemy that gets hit with these gets a debuff. I have tried this with the needler but I prefer Zheitsev’s bc it can hit more enemies and once and takes less time. this gun only goes to Blane (ur clone).
for the skill trees we have no points in under cover even tho brainfreeze is the best skill in the gaaaaame
explanations:
really the hitman tree is p self explanatory, u wanna go fast as fuck boiii. My band of sitorak does not have the +15 movespeed while zoomer is active anoint (it has the break shield amp anoint, which is p okay. want movespeed, but a nice human from the reddit gave me this sitorak so i didn’t have to farm). u want drone delivery bc Blane will NOT be throwing grenades. If you try to make him throw grenades with the seein’ dead he will ONLY throw grenades and never fire his gun, meaning he’ll never reload. it’s a nightmare. anyway. u want the piss grenade (ideally with the +25% damage on thrown anoint). im not looking forward to regrinding this when they finally mayhem buff grenades.
we put one point into playing dirty because we want those extra shots and honestly with the amount of times seein’ dead can proc ur kill skills you’ll have it more often than not
we also have points in good misfortune for that sweet sweet uptime (which btw can be infinite using the brainstormer/reflux bc it is essentially a redistributor without the need for ur barrier) the monarch/dictator also does it justice
for Blane u DON’T WANT praemuntis. we want blane reloading as often as gotdamn possible. now unfortunately my seein’ dead gave me a +weapon mag size roll (im actually not sure if this affects blane, but im assuming it does) but it does have the amazing +5 donnybrook so I’m taking it anyway. I am so not looking forward to regrinding a good class mod when they finally release action skill buffs for them. i cri. i actually hear 3 points in donnybrook and 2 in violent violence is p good (or 1 in violent violence 1 in playin dirty) so maybe grinding won’t be so bad. maybe i’ll finally get a +weapon damage roll
u can grab 1 point in ducttape mod and put 4 points into borrowed time if you want. it doesn’t really matter. i current have 5 in borrowed time and 3 in pocket full of grenades (for some reason??? usually i only put 2 in.). U can do that and use those extra points for either ducttape mod or more points in playing dirty.
u NEED quick breather. This skill has a STUPID interaction with the band of sitorak shield because of how quickly it recharges. I’m talking, the instant you swap with Blane, you have full shields and so does he. It’s dumb, I love it. Use it to get out of trouble.
so im probably gonna need to explain why i have 3 points in trick of the light: im a cryo slut. That’s it. put those wherever you want, just make sure you can get Double Barrel. i’ve seen builds where people actually go for brainfreeze, i might try that next time i respec.
Double barrel will make it so blane can use the zheitsev’s eruption and debuff your enemies for you. it’s worth it.
so the augments u want are these:
SCHADENFREUDE. because band of sitorak has such a tiny capacity, ur shield is constantly up. If its not, it’s constantly breaking from full capacity. this does have a fun effect with the amp shield break anoint, but mainly i like it for the 25% damage buff whenever it breaks. its a tradeoff for damage, ur constantly swapping between max shields and more damage, so its actually p constant survivability and damage over the long run.
i grab doppelbanger bc blane sometimes gets stuck in the floor and/or i don’t feel like running all the way back. i wouldn’t recommend getting which one’s real or digital distribution only bc u want him alive as much as possible. u can also get binary system instead of doppelbanger, its up to you
for Zoomer u want bad dose for the movement speed and (sometimes) static field (only if the enemies have shields). this is so if blane goes down or he isn’t taking damage, zoomer can refill ur shields. if the enemies won’t have shields usually i grab winter’s drone or boomsday depending on how i feel.
im actually gonna try to see if i can’t grab brain freeze. hang on. i know trick of the light is frowned upon for most people so lemme just respec. (im sorry i just love the vibes it gives me it’s like HAHA you thought that was me? no!!! boop. and then they’re ice sculptures and man i love h2o i wish emma had frozen more people the only people she really freezes are Greg and Miriam and honestly she doesn’t even kill Greg smh. (Greg is dr denman’s assistant. greg is highkey god.) I do like what she did to Mirami, the fucking implications that YES these teenage girls ARE powerful enough to instakill people, they just don’t out of the kindness of their hearts. Rikki was badass that episode too. actually i love the episode where rikki almost boils a dude alive for making a fool of her with ILLEGAL F I S H and burns people using steam from a pipe. rikki is my favorite mermaid- she knew what was u p. I wish mako mermaids was as badass as h2o was. and the cartoon. god imagine the cartoon violence. sigh. let them use their op superpowers to be SUPERHEROES. like in h2o au i have baron flynt puppeteer people to their deaths from Thor bc he has cleo’s powers like why couldn’t she do that to someone. Like dr denman “lmao bye bitch” or even charlotte (who imho wasn’t bad until cleo started being rude to her. cleo was 100% at fault that season). it wouldn’t have killed her!!! ... instantly. probably. ive never seen avatar in full but i did watch the blood bending episode as a child and as i understand it that’s frowned upon but hey. CAN BELLA TURN PEOPLE INTO JELLY?? harry potter 🅱oneless arms... my god.)
anyway, respeccing.
there goes all my money. rip.
so i think im gonna have to live with the slower reload speed (sob) but yes u can in fact get brain freeze with this build. lemme show...
so ye in the event u just can’t live without freezing people (i know the feeling) feel free to do this. imma play with this for a bit and see if i can live with slower reload. I actually depend on the 100% cryo with zoomer active for all my cryo damage. i also use an ice breaker so they freeze fairly easy (but only on mobs. on bosses u want the snowdrift or something else)
this build isn’t really meta and u might have trouble doing a solo run of true takedown on m10... bc its true takedown on m10, but honestly it’s fun as F U C K. you CAN do it, but it’s not no thoughts head empty like barrier-redistrubutor/yellowcake zane can be so u gotta be on TOP of ur SHIT. i love it. running around killing stuff. it’s fun. i also love teleporting. it’s my FAVORITE THING. I STILL GET GIDDY OVER IT BECAUSE IT’S SO FUN. ask my friends, they will tell you, sometimes i’ll just start gushing over how much fun it is to teleport even though i’ve played zane since release. just. GFDGHKJGDFK so much fun. i just... b o o p. god i love this game. i took a break to play assassin’s creed odyssey (fun sneaky beaky game, pretty awful dialogue) so DAMN i missed this.
here’s a link to a video I took on athenas (my favorite area to run. it’s this game’s bloodshot stronghold!) this is the playlist i listen to while playing Zane. i keep swapping songs during play bc sometimes they don’t fit my vibe or i get tired of them lol (spotify control is hooked to my 4th and 5th mouse buttons so i don’t have to stop playing) i forgot where my shock sandhawk was in my inventory, is what i use to demolish traunt. i was so scared i threw it in my bank earlier on sanc-iii lol (also yes i still slap blane’s ass. it’s to encourage him to kill)
and here’s a link to the save + everything I had on me at the moment (including the stuff i picked up in the vid in case u want it lol) cuz im lazy and don’t feel like clearing out my inventory. some of these are only m4-9. which ones? it is a mystery. you’ll know when the new update releases ;) (no but actually im so hype for mayhem level on the item cards. finally. FINALLY!!!)
why is this video taking so long to upload. hynnnggggg
oh god is that the sun
