current Transformers OC reference masterpost! (these references have been made over the course of the last year, so there’s some style changes)

Zephyr - the adoptive son of Ironhide, who’s got a penchant for taking in strays. Everyone is convinced he’s Bee’s kid, but no one talks about it. Scout who’s absolutely fascinated by the world around him. Has been taught a lot of bad habits by the twins, who were other foundlings of Ironhide. Is constantly trying to modify his visor to allow him access to things his visor shouldn’t have access to. Once dated an undercover Decepticon for like 3 months. His siblings won’t let him live it down. Has an electrical based outlier ability and can shock people through his hands and feet. The wiring on the side of his helm sparks when he’s frustrated.

Oracle - the son of Ratchet and a special op’s bot named Savvy (who has since been offlined in duty). The pseudo little brother to the Protectobots and Aerialbots - he is incredibly close to First Aid, as he has played a large role in his training. Sparked medic, and damn good at his job. Primarily works as a field medic. Tries to act serious and professional but he’s really, really not good at it. Will turn his emergency lights on to piss bots off when they’ve scorned him. Often is getting hauled around like a toddler by his older brothers. Courting Blitz, to the disappointment of Ratchet (Oracle does not care)

Blitz - Foundling of Bulkhead. Has also partially been raised by Wheeljack, as the two are close friends. Was also raised around the Autobots’ combiner teams, but the Aerialbots took much more of a shine to him due to his general attitude and behavior. Heavy hitter with a love for making pun jokes. Thinks the Wreckers are cool as all shit. Isn’t good with emotions, but will give hugs if you need them. he gives good hugs. Absolutely in love with Oracle, and thinks it’s hilarious that Ratchet is salty about them courting.

Ranger - Son of Optimus Prime and Elita One. Youngest sibling of Arcee and Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime. His spark separated way too early, and as such many essential systems failed to online or develop properly. He cannot take energon by mouth, and must have it introduced to his system via tubing, as well as requiring a form of ‘pacemaker’ to keep his spark working properly. His ventilation system often needs recalibrating and working to keep them cooling him properly. Too sweet for his own good, and sees the good in everyone. This often gets him into trouble. Got stranded with Stormshot of the Alpha Trine once, and helped save his life - leading them to fall helplessly in love with one another. He bullies Oracle relentlessly due to how often he is in the medbay (but they’re very good friends)

Nightlock - the oldest of the Alpha Trine and Megatron and Starscream’s sparklings. Was created as an attempt to combine the twos’ best qualities into a super soldier, but their seeker genetics caused the spark to split into the trine, spreading the traits among all three brothers. The golden child, and Megatron’s favorite. Keeps his mouth shut and does what he’s told. An absolute nightmare on the battlefield due to how adept he is at his job. Harsh and rough around the edges. 100% brainwashed by his sire. After his brothers left, he loses an optic to one of his sire’s fits, which frightens him into rethinking his entire life, enough to where he offers to become a double agent against Megatron. Changes his name to Nightwaker after the war

Stormshot - The middle mech of the Alpha Trine and Megatron and Starscream’s sparklings. Created as an attempt to combine the twos’ best qualities into a super soldier, but their seeker genetics caused the spark to split into the trine, spreading the traits among the brothers. Typically forgotten about by his creators. The hard hitter of his brothers. Absolutely massive in both height and weight. Despite it, he’s not fond of violence, and if it is not necessary he will not engage. He wanted to be a dancer, had he not been sparked during the war. Almost killed Prime’s kid when they got stranded together out of fear of being taken prisoner by the autobots. When Ranger let him go, he would end up forming a friendship that later turned to love towards him. Defects from the Decepticons to the Autobots to be with Ranger after his sire threatened his life one too many times. Would do anything for his brothers.

Crossfire - The youngest of the Alpha Trine and Megatron and Starscream’s sparklings. Created as an attempt to combine the twos’ best qualities into a super soldier, but their seeker genetics caused the spark to split into the trine, spreading the traits among the brothers. The scapegoat of the family. Has an outlier ability that affects his voice. The volume of his voice correlates to damage that can be done, almost akin to a sonic boom combined with directly damaging ones’ audials. He cannot shut it off, however, and wears an inhibitor device that will shock him if he raises his voice above an ‘acceptable level’ without being permitted by a higher ranked official, usually his creators. Speaks primarily in a whisper. Incredibly anxious, and suffers from panic attacks and severe self isolation. Defects to the Autobots after Stormshot does, when Megatron begins getting extremely violent with him and attempts to take his life. Has bouts of nonverbalism as a result of his trauma. Loves astronomy, and would like to learn medical skills, to save lives rather than take them. Small dude.

Dengeki Sentai Changeman x Pokemon

Thinking more on Psychonauts (since I’m still replaying the first game at the moment lol) and how while it’s never really commented on all that much, Raz’s acrobatics training as part of his family circus is actually a HUGE part of his abilities and the gameplay.

As in, it’s the in-universe justification for the game’s platforming.

For example, just look at Oleander’s Basic Braining from both a gameplay and narrative perspective: Gameplay-wise, it’s the opening tutorial level that introduces the basic controls and all the platforming mechanics that will define the rest of the game, and because of that the level is pretty easy and forgiving to the player.

Now where this gets interesting is when we consider that it’s pretty clear that for the rest of the campers, Basic Braining is basically a horrifying death with most not even being able to finish.

So it’s basically implied that the level being so easy represents that for Raz, it WAS easy. Specifically BECAUSE of all his acrobatics experience. While all the other kids were struggling with ridiculously long ladders, net walls, rope-swings, multiple trapezes, dodging machine-gun fire or just getting blown up by random landmines, Raz the trained-before-he-could-walk acrobat was absolutely blitzing through all of that. He got through it so fast Raz almost stumbled onto the big bad’s evil plan simply because Oleander never thought he’d get through the course so fast!

And the fun thing is that this unspoken emphasis on Raz’s acrobatics skill permeates through the entire rest of the game, and even explains a few metanarrative elements! Like you know how it’s implied that Raz pics up new psychic abilities and skills ridiculously fast for a kid his age while at camp?

Well, aside from his natural talent and drive to learn, from a gameplay perspective we can assume at least part of it is Raz picking up a bunch of those Psi cards, Challenge Markers and Scavenger Hunt items scattered around the camp. Most of which just so happen to be squirreled away in some VERY hard-to-reach places. At least, hard to reach for anyone without years of acrobatics training.

And that’s not even touching on what happens when Raz picks up Levitation. Like for the other kids, levitation is just a fun gimmick to zip around rolling on a glowing ball. But as we see with Raz, he’s practically FLYING.

Is it any wonder Ranger Cruller is surprised when Raz gets half the scavenger hunt done in an afternoon? And is pretty sure nobody has ever done the whole thing when Raz finally finishes the hunt?*

And I think this all plays very nicely into the narrative thru-line that runs across both the first and second games: That for all the baggage that may come from them, Raz’s connection to his family is still an important part of his life. Particularly with how this plays into the end of the first game with Raz reconciling with his father, and into the second game with both reconciling and dealing with several of his broader family issues.

That regardless of what he learns as a psychonaut, the lessons Raz learned from his family will always be of help to him.

*I mean, aside from the fact that one of the items can only be obtained through use of a psychic power that doesn’t seem available to campers, and another item straight-up isn’t even in the camp.

OK, so, I am clearly biased because I'm not actively following Rogue Trader-specific tags and whatnot, all I see is what my follows post or reblog so there's a person-specific filter on each post that reaches my dash, but--

Everyone simps for Marzipan the Dark Elf. Everyone wants to fuck either of the Inquisition's Blowjob Brothers. Everyone likes the Eldar Ranger wife.

I've yet to see a single image of Ulfar's ass and I can't tell if it's because I follow people who specifically aren't into bears and other types of hard-masculine men, because his Cop-Flavored Space Wolf Vibes are that rancid, or because he does something else in the game that causes him to end up being such an unlikeable dick (derogatory) that nobody bothers to draw him. Which is a goddamn achievement and a half in 40K because you can pick up the soggiest white bread of a loyalist Marine character/chapter, bet five bucks that there is at least one person swooning over them and casually walk away 10$ richer.

"Why won't you play the game yourself--" because my free time is split unevenly between Warframe, drawing my own little mans, dealing with depressive episodes and a sudden craving for a 6/10 jank-as-fuck RPG that I know well enough by now to kind of just casually blitz through in maybe 20-ish hours, which led me to reinstall Might & Magic X of all things. Also, RT is apparently still buggy and I'm not paying 60$ to do post-launch QA for Owlcat, either the game goes on a big sale or they patch it to a decent level.

Hunter/Dustin - Day 11: Three Broken Fingers

"Hunter!"

Brown curls and the salty tinge of sweat enveloped the Crimson Ranger's space as Dustin huffed in reluctance, a distance broken many times over before today.

"Ach!" He winced as the soft hands caressing his fingers pressed gently through the wrapped material.

"You're never going to learn are you?"

"Wouldn't need your help if you just let me be; I mean, it's a scythe! How're you going to tell me no to tha-OW!" Hunter cringed in pain as Dustin stationed himself on the thunder ninja's lap, his eyes darted away from whatever was being conjured through the bandages...some training sessions.

"Steady now; you don't need to rush into everything, man." Dustin pouted, his palms emitting golden energy as they collapsed Hunter's finger gently...he lulled to himself, his head meeting Hunter's chest in solace as the powers continued to do their magic.

"Hmph." Rolling his eyes, Hunter pulled the other ranger in with his free arm. Their torsos, both shirtless from intense training, prompted the winds of the forest to wash chills over their skin, only curable by cradling each other dearly.

They wouldn't have ended up here had the Crimson Ranger heeded his companion's warning...his vision glued to Orochi, his scythe, stalking him in rest like a serpent waiting for the right opportunity

Tempting yes, he crafted it with Cam's assistance after his thunder had crystallized during the recent downpour, along with a mysterious comet hitting the beach...an odd time but look at him now! Finally another weapon, just like Blake's

But hard to wield, a few blitzing movements and overexertion cost Hunter his fingers, and a stern talking from yellow no less...

"Two weeks, they said, just fourteen more days until you're good as new; please wait till then." Yellow pleaded softly, his curls tickling Hunter's bare chest.

"I'm not a dog, Brooks; I know what's good for me." Hunter snapped.

"But I...I don't like you getting hurt." A faint yelp came from Dustin as he looked up at Hunter, the crimson ranger's annoyed glare stiffened at the sight of watery gloss filling Dustin's eyes.

"Dust-" Hunter swallowed....damn did he hate seeing him like this.

"Come on, I...okay, fine, no more scythe." With defeat fresh in his mind, Hunter's body relaxed. Dustin wiped his eyes and continued snuggling as his powers ceased.

"Hey, what's happening?"

"Look." Dustin held Hunter's hand up; the bandages shifted around, bright petals and sparkles emerging from below the material, spreading a fuzzy sensation throughout Hunter's body.

...This, in return, well, Hunter fell over on his back; hums of delight escaped his mouth as the pain continued to fade.

"Earth ninjas...always got new tricks, huh?" Hunter chuckled.

"Thought it would help, something about blood flow and healing y'know?" Dustin smirked cutely, he adjusted and straddled himself on Hunter's waist. Hunter hitched his breath, the feeling of Dustin's nails digging into his pecs had excited something from below...

"Hey, I thought this was training?" Hunter gasped.

"It was, but you made me sad so I'm taking charge." Dustin huffed with a mad but adorable expression that only riddled Hunter up even more.

"Guess we know why you like riding dirt bikes now, but let's be honest Waldo, you're not a good lead. After all, I still have two fingers~" Hunter teased lazily as he flapped his right ring and pinky fingers upward from the grass.

"Heh, like a little kitty cat." His voice deepened through the tiredness and hit Dustin's ears, prompting the yellow ranger to get flustered from vivid memories that...well.

"Thought you preferred begging instead of giving orders, but maybe you're tired of wearing collars no~" Hunter attempted to use this opportunity to turn the yellow ranger over, but he was mistaken...

"Cute as a cub-" Dustin barked, his hands lit up again which caught the attention of Hunter when vines slithered around his arms and legs.

Hunter moaned harshly from the sensation of his left pec being grappled by those damn nails...his right nipple ensnared between Dustin's thumb and index. Crimson's head fell back as Dustin grinded his butt against the clothed erection below.

"But I'm a lion first~!" Dustin growled lovingly, leaning over to catch Hunter's mouth in a deep kiss, time for a new lesson.

Horizon Walker (2024) (Homebrew)

Horizon walkers guard the world against threats that originate from other planes or that seek to ravage the mortal realm with otherworldly magic. They seek out planar portals and keep watch over them, venturing to the Inner Planes and the Outer Planes as needed to pursue their foes. These rangers are also friends to any forces in the multiverse – especially benevolent dragons, fey, and elementals – that work to preserve life and the order of the planes.

Spells: Your travels through the multiverse ensure you always have certain spells ready; when you reach a Ranger level specified below, you thereafter always have the listed spells prepared. 

Level 3: Protection from Evil and Good

Level 5: Misty Step

Level 9: Haste

Level 13: Banishment

Level 17: Teleportation Circle

Level 3 Blitzing Strike: You gain the ability to pass between the planes in a blink of an eye. Once on your turn when you use the Attack action, you can Teleport up to 10 feet before one attack to an unoccupied space you can see. That attack deals an additional 1d4 Force damage.

Level 3 Detect Rift: You can sense disturbances in the veil between the planes. As an action, you detect the distance and direction to the closest planar portal or a portal that has been opened in the last 7 days within a 1 mile radius. Within that same radius, you can sense the distance and direction of a space a creature has Teleported to or from within the last 7 days. You can then expend a use of Favored Enemy to cast Hunter’s Mark without expending a spell slot targeting the creature that Teleported, whether or not the creature would be within the range of the spell.

Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a Short or Long Rest.

Level 7 Ethreal Step: You learn to step through the Ethereal Plane. As a Bonus Action on your turn, you can cast the Etherealness spell with this feature, without expending a spell slot, but the spell ends at the end of the current turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long rest.

Level 11 Distant Strikes: Your ability to jump between planes becomes faster than ever, granting you the following benefits:

Greater Blitzing Strikes. You can use Blitzing Strikes on each attack you make as part of the Attack action, instead of just once per turn.

Crowd Cutter. When you use the Attack action and attack two different creatures with the action, you can make one additional attack with it against a third creature.

Level 15 Spectral Defense: Your ability to move between planes enables you to slip through the planar boundaries to lessen the harm done to you during battle. When you take damage from an attack, you can use your Reaction to give yourself Resistance to all of that attack's damage. Until the start of your next turn, you have Resistance to one damage type dealt by the triggering attack.

Changes:

Blitzing Strikes replaces the old Planar Warrior feature, granting you a smaller version of the old Distant Strikes at level 11

Detect Portal has been renamed to Detect Rift and allows you to sense portals that have been opened in the last 7 days or a creature that has teleported. You can then use Favored Enemy to mark that creature.

Ethereal Step can now be used Wis mod times per day, instead of once per short rest

Distant Strikes now buffs the level 3 Blitzing Strike allowing you to use it more than once per turn and granting you a third attack just as the old version did

Spectral Defense now grants resistance to one damage type the triggering attack does until the start of your next turn.

Into the GuyLoboVerse: Day 11

Earth 383: Pokemon AU

Pokemon Breeder GUY GARDNER was out on a supply run with his beloved shiny growlithe when Biker LOBO rolled into town. While GUY had his back turned, his growlithe decided to investigate the strange motorcycle. Unfortunately, LOBO's mightyena snuck up on the growlithe. Who then did a flare blitz on the motorcycle. Destroying it. So now LOBO has decided GUY has to pay for it and he's not leaving until he does.

Author's Notes:

Guy's design is an edit of the Pokemon Breeder sprite from Black and White. While Lobo's is an edit of the Biker sprite from HeartGold and Soulsilver. These designs are pretty old (over 4 years old!) and I haven't kept up much with pokemon trainer designs since then so one day I might give them more of an update.

The concept is the classic pokemon journey started because someone fucked up someone else's bike. Middle aged men edition! If I remember correctly the plan was that Lobo was hunting down a rare or legendary pokemon and was going to convince Guy to help him track it down as payment for the motorcycle. Before Guy became a pokemon breeder, he was a pokemon ranger and those skills would be helpful in that kind of journey. Well, I just got an idea for how that would end so now that's definitely what it would be. The end is still a secret though :P

Guy and Lobo's teams were decided between the release of Sun/Moon and Sword/Shield and Lobo's definitely needs at least one major edition (Obstagoon. He HAS to have one but I'm not sure who to cut yet).

Guy has his shiny growlithe, an exeggutor, an exploud, a breloom, a manectric, and a grumpig. All but the growlithe were with him when he did his gym challenge before becoming a pokemon ranger. He switched gears from the Punk Guy trainer class to the Pokemon Ranger trainer class before finishing the Hoenn gym challenge. The growlithe was the first pokemon he raised from an egg after becoming a Pokemon Breeder.

Lobo has a mightyena, a houndoom, an absol, a krookodile, an aggron, and a granbull. At his home Lobo has some lanturns, primarinas, frillish, finizen, and palafin that he doesn't take out on jobs. Obviously there is now an obstagoon in the mix but I still have to mull over who is getting removed from his team. Maybe the aggron?
