mbj gets hit with a commanding curse; sqh doesn't really remember details, but he knows that the curse can only be lifted if the cursed person follows the commands of the one holding the artefact. to prevent worse things from happening, sqh takes the artefact from the villain of the week.

except now he has to actually command mbj! if he doesn't, the curse can't be broken! anyone stealing the artefact from sqh could just command mbj! and not just that, sqh has to command mbj to do things that would genuinely make sqh happy! no "walk up and down, jump, turn around" to fulfill the curse!

sqh is so afraid of mbj's retaliation after this whole thing, but he doesn't actually have a choice, okay? so he does command him to do things, things that would make him happy, but also... things that shouldn't be too hurtful towards mbj's pride?

he starts with this: "Don't hit me ever again. No hitting, pushing, kicking me." It's a reasonable command, in sqh's own humble opinion.

mbj looks kind of crushed. well, too bad! you can't kick around your favorite ragdoll anymore!

It's not a good command, sqh quickly realises, bc it's longterm. He needs to command something that mbj can do now to make him happy.

"Make me noodles."

Noodles are made. They're not good. They're not made bc mbj wants to make them for him. sqh doesn't feel great about it.

sqh tries to think of things that mbj would willingly give that would make him happy. he ends up with commands like "share your qi with me, I'm cold", "sit down while i comb your hair, it makes me arms hurt to reach up so far the entire time!", "hire a human cook for when I'm here!", "Talk through this trade agreement with me!".

In the end, it's just a lot of small commands that make sqh's life a little easier. Maybe that's all he needs to be happy? System, he's happy, you can lift the curse on mbj now!

SYSTEM Character Mobei Jun has not been afflicted by any curse. The artefact was a copy created by a thief who stole the original several centuries ago.

(meanwhile, mbj has been so eager for sqh to finally tell him his wants and needs, he shamelessly pretended to be cursed to get him to do so.)
