hey guys, i'm making a new post since the last one lost traction. so, as some of you might know, my dog freddy has recently been diagnosed with cancer (b-cell lymphoma), and we’ve already started chemo, since acting quickly is key to giving him the best shot at survival. he’s still doing well and behaving like his usual self, thankfully, and with treatment, he has a good chance of living a year or more with quality of life. that's all i want for him.

his chemotherapy treatment is a weekly cycle that ranges from 200 to 250 reais for each shot, and that paired with the weekly blood tests he has to take and the cost of the oncologist appointments themselves means the treatment will cost over 1000 reais a month, which is definitely not something i can afford right now. i’m currently trying to find a more affordable or even free alternative, but in the meantime, i’m doing what i can to keep the treatment going, since time is of the essence. this first phase will likely be the hardest financially, and while i can cover some of the basic vet expenses, i can’t manage the full cost of chemo on my own just yet.

that’s why i’m asking for help -- whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this post. every little bit would help, and i'd appreciate the support more than i can say. thank you!!

the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years

taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult

at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big
