Yelena: I bet if I was pregnant, you’d be listening to every single word I have to say.
Kate: If you were pregnant, I think we’d have a lot of questions.

Yelena: You're late, Kate Bishop.
Kate: I'm not late. It's 9:18, which is practically 9:15, which is basically 9. If anything, I'm early.

Nick Fury, Mace Windu; Same Stereotypes, Different Dude
Dunno how to tell people this but just cause two characters are played by the same actor doesn’t mean they’re the same character.
Honestly I’d be a lot less annoyed about people trying to use traits from the MCU’s Nick Fury to inform their interpretation of Mace Windu if half the interpretations of Nick Fury I’ve read weren’t at best completely oversimplified and at worst simply racist caricatures. (I know this because I’m not even half this irritated when people do the same thing with David Tennant characters)
Literally at no point does Nick Fury have anger issues. He talks sternly sometimes—yk when he’s giving orders and needs to be heard; he’s sarcastic—yk when he’s sassing the Security Council; he says fuck sometimes—yk cuz he’s an adult in the 21st century.
That’s it.
And all of that is deliberate flare—not like it’s untrue, I think he is using it in a way that comes naturally to him—this man was a spy, and is some cross of a diplomat-politican-spymaster (or yk his actual title: Director of SHEILD). He is not doing anything by accident. Having a strong personality, not being willing to be pushed around by everyone who wants something is deeply necessary to doing his job.
You want to know Nick Fury’s actual character flaw?
Wanting control.
Wanting information.
Wanting security.
Thats why he falls for Project Insight when Steve Rogers and Natasha Romannoff don’t. Fury wants the control that information and those helicarriers would give to ensure security, to be able to stop threats in advance. But it’s a trap—taking too much control lets authoritarians flourish. That’s why Natasha has to release all of SHEILD’s data—no matter the intentions it’s gathered under, it’s impossible to have so much control without someone (or the system in general) abusing it.
But it’s also why his choices in Avengers are such a victory! Giving the fate of the world to a bunch of random wackjobs with superpowers? Trusting in the thrown together team of the Avengers? That is giving up control—that is the opposite of nuking New York to stop an invasion. That is overcoming his character flaw, and it's why its cool that after Project Insight, he becomes at bit more of a rogue agent, running around and showing up last minute to save people or to call for help. (And why the avenegers movie bothered with “given the council has elected to make a stupid decision…”—it’s the completion of his character arc)
That’s a character I could I could see people actually comparing to Mace Windu. I mean the result of such a comparison is still that they’re really pretty different characters—especially in terms of this whole wanting control thing—but you could at least make the comparison in good faith.

I did!! something else!! for pride month!! (I am horrifically disappointed in myself but the month's not over yet!!)
Tumblr media
I'm not happy with this one either but I had to do WinterWidow as "totally hetero couple" lol the idea struck me and I just had to do it.
Pride Month 2024 Headcanons part two: WinterWidow
Natasha Romanov is very ace-spectrum-coded to me, and I tend to think that demisexual fits her best. I really don't have a good reason for that but that's the nice thing about headcanons. I really don't have to justify them. Anyway, Nat is demisexual heteroromantic.
Bucky Barnes is bi. I think he's a little more bi in the MCU than in the comics but honestly there's no doubt in my mind that this man is queer.
I put "couple" in quotation marks bc all my Pride Month Headcanons are canon to Tangled Threads, in which Bucky and Nat aren't really together together. They just live together and act in ways that most people would consider couple-ish and are practically married in everything but name. They're together, they just haven't discussed it.
I intend to do at least one more of these before the end of the month, hopefully two or three.

look i am delighted marvel is finally in the find out stage after they fucked around and completely over-saturated the market but i can't help noticing it is always, always, always the female-led projects bearing the brunt of the criticism and just left out to dry by disney

When is the Red Room "graduation ceremony"?
So I read a quote by Florence Pugh that said that the Red Room graduation ceremony takes place when the girls are around 8 years old. Is that right?
Does anybody know if this is supported by the movie canon? (Or even the comic books? Because I'm not familiar with those and as far as I know, the hysterectomy bit is a movie addition, anyway?)
I'm just wondering because I want to know if the implication here is supposed to be that they undergo the hysterectomy before going through puberty.
Cause if they had their ovaries removed prior to puberty, wouldn't that mess with hormone production and thus the onset and regular timeline of puberty? I'm a humanities major, so this is not my area of expertise at all, but just based on what I've researched so far, I'm like, huh, wouldn't this fuck with way more than their ability to menstruate/become pregnant? Like, even if they went through this at 17 or 18yo, they'd go into immediate early menopause, which would also fuck with their bodies.
Or are we just supposed to suspend our disbelief here? Which, okay, I guess? (Also, yes, Whedon threw this in and he's an idiot.) But if there is canon info I'm missing, I'd really like to know! So if anybody has thoughts/info on this!

I’ve realised that I’m probably gonna treat my MRU like an actual movie series.
Just like ‘lmao trailer drop’ and it’s just art of certain scenes. Posters are made and everything. Even draw up little premiers and interviews with the made up actors that would play them in the technical MRU thing since I’m ditching the originals (no hate to them of course).
And not even for any particular reason, i just feel like the MRU would deserve that.

tell me things about the poptropica symbiote au please
just, anything on your mind about it
I have so much though you gotta give me somethin to work with next time but for now BULLET POINTS UNDER THE CUT BECAUSE THIS GOT LONG
All of the villains bonded with their respective symbiotes fairly young, preteen but not a child child.
The symbiotes are stuck on earth after their ship crashed in the middle of the ocean and were separated.
The villains are all incredibly strong and agile thanks to them.
Error helped inspire young Mordreds fascination with machines, always telling stories of all the neat stuff in space.
As far as anyone in the kingdom knows Mordred was always a strange child with his head in the clouds (some had a theory he was a changeling autism child go brrrr), but one day they got a whole lot stranger, talking to himself and making odd drawings of metallic monsters.
Also yes I do believe in Bard being the kings child and it's in the au.
There's not much room for Error anymore, so they tend to hang out underneath Bard's hat or disguised as an oil stain.
They just overall hit it off almost immediately and are very close :)
Honestly at this point they were the only thing keeping Harvey alive.
24 Carrot is basically just That Place with weird crimes and weird people. Basically the Tracy California of Pop (I'd know).
Harvey always got overstimulated really quickly (he is filled with autism), so sometimes Savagery would help with that.
Harvey left 24 Carrot as soon as he got accepted into college and never looked back. Savagery is happy with that.
The only one out of the group who figured out that the symbiotes feed on happy chemicals.
Savagery us the only thing keeping Harvey alive at this point, without their healing his organs would have stopped working.
Invidia and Widow are also very close.
As a kid Invidia would secretly give bullies a valuable lesson.
They have each others backs during heists.
Widow absolutely struggled (and still does) struggle with self confidence. Invidia helps with that.
Widow's real name is Charlotte because I can.
Grew up on Counterfeit, moved as a teen, came back after becoming a police officer
Crawfish and Kraken had a very rocky start.
Kraken simply did NOT want to be stuck on earth and they made it Crawfish's problem.
Like mx that is a child you're talking to.
Met while the ship that Crawfish was cabin boy of was docked at Skullduggery, Kraken became interested in the curse for reasons i won't specify.
The two did some horrible things that will only be found in the horror chamber channel on discord.
They started getting along a bit more after a few years though!
When Crawfish lost his leg to one of the sea serpents that's when the trust exercises began (joke)
Kraken makes a leg for him. Crawfish can't control it so he has to hope Kraken doesn't make them fall.
Also in this au he's not a ghost because Kraken kept him alive (yes I love that theory it's in my main au)
It's a bond made from mutual respect and trust and a little bit of pranking from time to time and I like thinking about their dynamic whether the time they hated each other to them messing around in the present :)
