I think the story actually does so well in its juxtaposition of fadelstyle and kantbison going through essentially the same stages of their relationship simultaneously to highlight how majorly unfair this whole scenario is for Kant.

Kant likes Bison, there are these rare moments where he forgets what he's doing and what their relationship is like where first gets to bring out the full force of his signature kanawhipped style of romance

but these moments are not just rare they are short because he's never allowed to forget the mission

In many ways he's stuck in the same way that Fadel is stuck. Their handlers keep lying about how it's the last job for them and they have almost no reason to believe them and yet clinging onto this hope is also their only choice in ever seeing an end to this shitshow that is their lives

It's not until you see just how sad Kant looks versus Style's reaction:

that it starts becoming clear that Style has the luxury of feeling conflicted and being worried about Fadel while Kant just can't even go there. He can't bring himself to open up any part of himself to Bison whereas Style didn't know about Fadel and that allowed for some space for some genuine feelings to grow.

Everything we see from Kantbison that feels like at best a negotiation and at worst a threat we get to see Fadel and Style experience genuinely.

Kink and power negotiation? Fadel roleplays garage sex and gets his nipples teased while Bison is roofied and unintentionally dubcons Kant.

Staying over for the night? Fadelstyle buttgrabbing during bowling while Bison had pulled a gun on Kant 0.5s before asking (which he doesn't put away immediately).

Tell me about your past? Terse conversation where Bison is hiding a knife meanwhile FadelStyle gets a tenderhorny conversation about loss and grief.

And oh the tattoo kisses!!! I nearly cried.

Because Style gets to kiss Fadel's tattoo and experience him fighting the impulse to be vulnerable with him

But Kant?

He has a beautiful boy telling him he loves every part of his body and the sheer grief of it - any of it - not being real 😭 😭 😭

Genuinely if you feel like everything is going terribly, start by fixing one thing at a time. Once you get the ball rolling it all gets easier. Start by taking a multivitamin or by getting better sleep. Pick one thing and focus on that one thing until it's better. And CELEBRATE EVERY SUCCESS NO MATTER HOW SMALL.

Do not fall into the trap of downplaying every little success!!! If that little success is "I made my bed today" FUCK YEAH BROTHER. if your success is "I got out of bed today" FUCK YES MY DUDE. I am so proud of you. If today is your first day clean I'm so proud of you. If you're not clean today but you're not as bad as you were yesterday I'm proud of you. If today is the day you decided to pick up a book for the first time in years I'm proud of you.

You can ignore your failures. I'm so serious. You failed? Move on. Learn from it, don't dwell on it. Spend all your time focused on your next success. Cause you WILL succeed. It may not look like the success you expected. But you're gonna make it.

And success is different for everyone. For some people success is just contentment. For some it's graduating. For some it's being sober, being healthy, being in less pain, being more comfortable with your body, adjusting to a new sense of self, divorcing a terrible spouse. Whatever it is, I believe in you and I love you.

it's just so. tim and kon have so much going for them in the comics - tim taped wendy while kon was in hypertime, their whole fight on apokolips, batman claiming that tim "speaks highly" of kon, kon having the batcave landline in his contact book not long after he first met tim, robin!kon, the "your voice drops an octave when you get all commander-like" line and the Everything before it, the winick closet moment, they were his colors, and so much more. they have such a rich history and relationship across so many comics!! they genuinely have so much going for them!!!!

and then you try to look at the tag on ao3 or tumblr and it's just full of homophobic stereotypes, shovel talks, and the same 2.5 tired jokes about tim/ber or clone babies, maybe with a bit of clark bashing thrown in for flavor, because no one making these posts has fucking read the comics and they don't even know where the ship came from, but god forbid they get out of the comics tags. jesus fucking wept.

like even ignoring the story telling angle of how this ending is such an interesting way to take grace's character, the song itself is just SO bone chilling. like.. theres a reason npmd (the song) is a fan favorite but smth abt this part of the song coming from grace makes it hit harder. the religious character who spends the entire play spiraling due to a sinful act she commited singing about how nobody will pray for you when you die due to these being the consequnces of your actions is so ??? and even ignoring THAT angela puts in an oscar worthy preformance. her "run you little bitch" is SO good and im sad its not in the cast recording.. hell even how her high note basically became an unhighed scream and transitoon into manical laughter.. its a good way to show how the events of the play literally brole her mind withput having to outright say it. LIKE IM SO OBESSEDDDD
