Ao3 has been cruel to me tonight. I only wanted to read a nice Justice League fic so i went to that tag and sorted my hits. Tell me why the fic with the most hits under the justice league tag is a danny phantom cross over fic. I love the guy but i was NOT in the mood. So i filtered out all crossovers. Next all i could find were those all those "justice league meets the batfam" fics which i liked at first but i feel are now sooo over done and im tired of them. So i sort out all of the other gotham vigilantes. After that all i could find were superbat fics and the most random ships in incredibly explicit stories. So i filter superbat and explicit fics. After all of that, the main fics that were left were all Billy Batson centric?? I dont dislike the guy but i was very confused by this. Like if its not bat family centric its gotta be batson centric?? So after that i went on a crazy spree of sorting out every tag i was not in the mood for and it left me with one singular fic.

Tell us about new ships! I know it takes a lot for anything romantic to catch your eye, so I'm curious. But also - any new group dynamics that are intriguing to you?

I'm definitely not the biggest shipper these days and writing wise most ship fics i write are gifts but I probably could be talked into just about any ship if the dynamics are interesting enough lol.

New ships I'd be interested in writing this year:

1. Billy Batson x Marcus Shugel-Shen

I love these two separately and I love their dynamic together. Whether they're friends, rivals, crushes, or boyfriends I could get behind writing them!

2. Duke Thomas x Izzy Ortiz x Riko Sheridan

Literally any combo of these three would be so good. They are so ride or die for each other like instantly. The whole We Are Robin gang has such amazing and underutilized dynamics that got tossed aside when Duke became an official batfam member. I'd love to see them together again, even if I have to do it myself.

3. Jou Kido x Mimi Tachikawa

Im semi-secretly a huge Digimon nerd and these two were always my favorites. I always thought they'd be super cute together in an opposites attract kind of way. I know middle school me would be thrilled to see me write something for them.

I'd also love to explore Sapphic Mary Marvel but I don't have any specific ships in mind for her!

New group dynamics:

I want to explore more civilian group dynamics like the cast of the Daily Planet or WHIZ radio.

I'd also be interested in writing more freddy centric pieces so him with his own teen hero team would be a lot of fun to explore (especially with secret identity shenanigans and misunderstandings)

Woo Be Upon Ye:

Medieval fantasy TimKon AU where Kon is a half-dragon prince of the realm who elevates commoner Tim to the Royal Guard on a whim. Also has Bart as an apprentice mage, Donna and Cassie as Themiscyran ambassadors, many of Tim’s school friends as Royal Guards, Wildcat as a mentor, the Daily Planet staff as the royal council, and more! Planned as part one of a four-part series.

Bernard Dowd vs. The World:

After hearing Tim’s many, many, many stories about his friends, Bernard realizes that almost all of Tim’s guy friends were hitting on Tim at multiple points. Failing to convince Tim of this, however, Bernard makes it his mission to obtain written testimonies from as many of said friends as he can to support his case. Such friends include Superboy, Danny Temple, Sebastian Ives, Lonnie Machin, and more.

Two for the Price of Them:

In this AU, Tim’s 100th cloning attempt is a success, and so clones of both Kon and Bart are created. Partway through the artificial aging process, however, an agent of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. (overhauled from the same metahuman-abduction organization from the New52) attacks. Tim is forced to go on the run and off the grid with the two clone babies.

The World Didn’t Stand Still:

When Kathy Branden plugs a Phantom Zone Crystal into her teleportal and visits the Phantom Zone, she comes back with a young Krytonian boy, Chris Kent, who claims to be the foster son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Effectively taking pre-boot Chris from after his debut story and transporting him into post-Rebirth continuity. Part of a planned trilogy of fics centered on Chris. Guaranteed that they will not end with Chris getting punted into the Phantom Zone for an unknown length of time.

The Dichotomy of Lor-Zod and Chris Kent:

In post-Infinite Frontiers continuity, Lor-Zod begins getting flashes of a life before his own, of a life where he was family to the loathsome Kal-El of the House of El. Lor’s father, Dru-Zod, convince Lor that his affliction must be the machinations of the Justice League’s Martian Manhunter, a psychic attack meant to weaken New Kandor for invasion. Along with Non as a chaperone, Lor-Zod goes on a quest to hunt the Martian Manhunter, though he’s really on the path to restoring his pre-boot history and identity, and all the internal conflict that comes from the contradictions between his two selves. Effectively how I would approach reconciling the current iteration of Lor-Zod with Chris Kent. Guest-starring Martian Manhunter and M’gann M’orzz.

The Cola Caper:

Upon hearing the devastating news that an embargo on the island nation of Santa Prisca will halt the distribution of Zesti Cola in the United States, Dick and Tim go on a mission to infiltrate Santa Prisca and abscond with as much Zesti as they can, and maybe even the secret recipe if they’re lucky.

Stray Little Tiger:

A Billy Batson-centric fic placed in a Stray!Tim Drake AU. Selina Kyle, on her way home from a caper, comes across a lightning-struck boy in an alley. Clearly homeless and in need of help, she decides to take the boy in until he’s healed, though the lightning seems to have severely damaged his vocal cords. She doesn’t know that this boy is Billy Batson, that he’s Captain Marvel, or that there’s something deeply wrong with the Rock of Eternity. This story is told mainly from Selina’s POV, with occasional sidetracks to Tim’s POV, but never Billy’s POV. Identity shenanigans, found family, magic problems, and more.

A Single Word Spoken:

A girl in the shape of a weapon is brought to Fawcett City, where she fulfills her purpose for the first and last time.

The girl who can no longer be a weapon hides from her wielder in an old subway and finds herself transported to a place of great magic.

There, the girl who wishes to be more than she was made to be finds a Wizard, who sees the girl for her heart and not for the blood staining her skin.

The Wizard teaches the girl a name.

Cassandra speaks her first word.

And in so doing, she speaks power.

Also featuring Cass navigating the anachronistic Fawcett City, befriending Billy Batson, codependency issues, an old man who’s also a Bengal tiger, ancient grudges, a different old man who’s barely qualified to give Cass life advice, and more.

Fake it For the Win:

While on a cruise, Tim and Kon decide to fake being married in order to compete on an onboard game show for married couples. When they actually win, though, they have no choice but to keep up the act for the rest of their trip. Fake dating to real dating, with a focus on comedy.

Crossroads of Fate and Eternity:

JLI-era fic with a couple of canon-divergent indulgences. Kent Nelson, helped by Khalid Nassour, decides to take Billy Batson under his wing as a student of the mystic arts. Magic lessons, Tower of Fate and Rock of Eternity shenanigans, Bromfield family stuff, an ancient entity and an ancient demon, philosophy, and other such tidbits.

A Little Ways Along the Family Tree:

When a villain travels through time to the future and accidentally takes Robin with him, Damian Wayne must team up with Mar’i and Jake Grayson to defeat the villain and return Damian to his proper time.

A High-Speed Romantic Tryst on an Open-Water Murder Shack:

When a couple of thugs steal a houseboat belonging to one of Tim’s marina neighbors while he and Bernard are hanging out, the two of them give chase in Tim’s own houseboat. Comedy, crack treated seriously.

Ladies and gents, my first Billy Batson-centric fic! It’s called: The Batson Family Soap Opera: Ft. The Justice League

Here’s a snippet of the first chapter, already released on AO3 under the name SunShade878

In Study Room #1, Billy propped himself up on a chair and opened his laptop. The screen lit up the room, showing a half-finished Whiz Radio broadcast script. On another tab, Billy pulled up a bullet point list of topics to cover, and got to work.

He took bites out of the sandwich he got from the cafeteria as he worked. Looking from tab to tab, Billy paraphrased some of his talking points and left slots open throughout the script for a few brief questions.

He tapped a nail against the table when he paused after a commercial break slot and glanced at the time.

“Five minutes ‘til monitor duty,” he muttered. “Better close off for now.”

Not to say Billy was satisfied with his work, but he was proud of his clean punctuality record from his time with the League. It also translated to his reporter work, so that was a nice bonus. Now that he thought about it, Morris told him he could give Billy a small bonus if he turned everything in today…

Nope! He shook his head. Monitor duty now, Whiz work later.

Billy quickly packed his things and slotted his laptop in a cubby before making his way toward the monitor station. He checked the time on his watch, sighing in relief when he saw he was two minutes from the beginning of his two hour shift.

Okay, good.

He quickened his pace toward the familiar room, dutifully ignoring the concerned and curious looks on several familiar faces.

I swear, you’d think I was catatonic with the way these people look at me.

The monitor room had a large, imposing window that showed the expanse of space. It was something Billy could never get over, no matter how long he stared at it. Multiple screens were lit, showing various cities with superheroes of their own, helping children out of burning buildings and stopping robberies in progress.

A transparent hologram of Earth spun around slowly in the middle of the room. Graph lines went over and across each section of land and sea. Several small, red dots blinked green, and Billy smiled in satisfaction that they were doing good. He was doing good.

“Hey, Little B!”

Billy rolled his eyes. “Hey, Hal.”

Billy doesn’t have to turn around to see the Green Lantern’s cheeky grin as he sauntered into the room, power ring glowing emerald. “Ya seem tense, little man.” The grin faltered, revealing what Billy knew to be truer than the smile. “You okay?”

Now, you remember what Billy said about loving how protective the League was, right? And the thing is, he didn’t lie. He didn’t blame them for it, and he understood the need to protect people younger than you. Hell, he was well known enough in Fawcett for the younger street kids to know him by name. For them to know he knew all the best hiding spots and hoarding spots around the Cobbler District.

But sometimes it could just be so. Damn. Annoying.

“Oh, it’s just some last minute revisions for my broadcast tomorrow. Nothing major.”

“You remembered to eat, yeah?

Don’t roll your eyes, he’s not being condescending. “Took a sandwich from the canteen.”

“Cool, cool.”

Yeah, this was definitely one of those times where he felt coddled instead of protected. Now, maybe seven year old Billy, who’d just learned that he was now responsible for the wellbeing of an entire community and subcommunities of ethereal-infused life, would’ve loved the worry on Hal’s face.

Fourteen year old Billy, on the other hand, couldn’t help the queasy feeling in his stomach.

“Anyway, we should get started, huh?”

The whites of Hal’s domino mask widened. “Uh, yeah. Let’s.”

Billy mustered a small smile as he propped himself on one of the two chairs facing the screens. Hal flopped unceremoniously onto the other one, the smile on his face more prominent. Weird. Before, the smile seemed…dim, somehow.

Now, though, with the two of them looking through screens and chatting quietly as the hours ticked by, Hal’s nervousness and tenseness was chipped away, revealing the bumbling idiot Billy knew and cared for. The easy way with which they communicated was something Billy was thankful for. If anything, his identity reveal only strengthened their relationship.

It sort of felt like he was the reason for Hal’s better mood. But that was silly.

H: Hal raised his hand and let his ring scan the image for a moment, but the ring couldn’t translate it. “Well, whatever language it is, it’s either a dead one or one that is isolated enough that the Green Lantern Corps doesn’t have any data on it.” He stated with a shrug. E: Everything faded into the distance as her mind went blank. She could barely feel the rain that usually calmed her, that was supposed to calm her.

R: Relief flooded through Billy’s body. The fact that they thought he was just turned into a kid meant Billy could just go along with it and not technically lie. Though the relief faded away as he quickly remembered he couldn’t transform back. (From the unnamed Billy Batson-centric fic)

T: The urge to break-destroy-hurt-break-sob-break-break washing over her body as pure panic started to force her mindset into what she was raised to do.

Yes these options are basically all based off canon-smashes of various continuities, most of them are either Kon-centric or heavily involve him, and no I am not sorry. I will never, ever be sorry. ❤

(Billy signed up intentionally, though. Billy is all in on this shit. Billy's got Justice League child support and a reasonably pure heart and no shame whatsoever about lying through his teeth to every legal adult who might think a magical twelve year-old orphan maaaaaybe shouldn't have legal custody of an angsty teenage Superman clone.)

And Clark, again. Also Clark again. It's fine, Lois will be on deck to back him up when he inevitably panic-kidnaps both his teenage clones.

Half-(Alive) brothers: Jason figures out he might just have a little brother while searching for his birth mother. As much as he’s excited about having a sibling, he still has his first search to focus on, maybe when the dust settles Bruce would help him find him too? Hopefully he does, his probable-brothers uncle seemed like a real eel when he answered the door just to say his sister-in-law was dead and then cursed him out.

Return from the grave: Fate twists it’s own design, ones end delayed and another’s beginning being lifted from it’s preordained sorrow. It’s a world where one survives instead of none, where loss is prolonged. C.C. Batson should have died in that tomb.

#1 SuperBat shipper and his super beta reader: Freddy is a normal hero fan; He’s got the merch, some comics, a bunch of tee’s and maybe the drawer full of souvenirs from actual hero vs villain fights is a bit much. Maybe a lot much when he’s got a whole cork-board dedicated to Superman and all the news clippings. And maybe not every fan of literal Super-celebrities writes what he does, but there’s no harm! It’s not like any of them read it! Except… maybe Billy, who just moved in and definitely shouldn’t have seen the chapter but has surprisingly good tips for writing them??? Guess he’s a weird fan too.

Sunshine in the Garden state: Sunny is too good for this world and he hates it. His all too likability is a curse and now his entire school is infected with Sunny-centric positivity! He can only hope he won’t cause too much trouble of the field trip he’s made worse for everyone already, not like Gotham has magically immune villains that might try and murder him. Hopefully…. They don’t, right?

An Unlikely Friendship

Do you know why is there so much Danny phantom stuff on hellblazer tag?Do you have any suggestions how to mute it? Because I already mute the words but it's still appearing? I don't hate Danny phantom or anything Iam just confused I am currently reading the og hellblazer comics I just finished reading the family man arc...(I am reading using ur reading guide),I know John from dcau and Keanu's Constantine movie, I also read the all of his appearance in the swamp thing before starting his own series and I really wanna know more about John Constantine I havent watch the cw version yet bc idk where to I just wanna see hellblazer content...fanarts, people talking about him and ya know stuff about John, muting the dpxdc tag thingy doesn't work because it's still there when I search the tag...you can't see the post but it's still there.. its just say 'muted tags'... (probably because Im using Android or....not) it's just frustrating...why is the Constantine tag barely about him?...you and the 5 other major vertigo fan blog on this app seems to be the only acc where I can get raw hellblazer fan content...

I’ve been in the fandom for 3 years ish and I swear to god one day I woke up and the tag was FLOODED. before Danny phantom there was stupid billy batson headcanons but I successfully bullied a lot of people away from that 💀💀💀💀 I fucking hate this stupid crossover. I want to reblog panels not see stupid text posts about a defunct Nickelodeon children’s cartoon

I hate that John is a stand-in character for irrelevant crap and John centric content is hard to find. People don’t seem to want to interact with his canon they only want a stereotypical messy bi man to sleep with their faves or parent random teenagers. BARF!!!!!
