What Is It Like in a *Posh* Moroccan Hammam? 🫧
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I say "posh," I mean upmarket hammams in a wealthy residential areas, not hammams in hotels. This post is about authentic hammams used by wealthy Moroccans, not ones aimed at tourists.
Decor
One of the first things you'll notice in upmarket hammams is that the decor is far more elaborate than in basic hammams. Decor will of course vary from place to place, but to use the example of the hammam next to my great-aunt's place in Casablanca I always make sure to go to:
The walls in both the main washroom and the sauna room are made out of blue and white marble in a traditional zellige pattern. There are also ornate sinks jutting out of the walls also of blue and white marble, whereas in basic hammams there will just be faucets. The sauna has long benches made of marble across the length of each side of the room, and the massage tables are slabs of heated light grey marble.
Regardless of the individual decor choices of each hammam, each building will always be spacious, with high ceilings and curved arches.
Ambience
Upmarket hammams feel luxurious, but understated, focusing on relaxation and subtle elegance rather than opulence and "wowing" people.
The lighting will normally be natural, but if artificial lighting is used it will be subtle and non-intrusive. Whereas in basic hammams it will be bright and practical, and in tourist hammams it will be dim with lighting coming from lanterns and candles (ambient, but not practical for visibility).
Although some may have private areas, authentic hammams in wealthy areas will generally follow the tradition of communal bathing.
As they are located in residential areas rather than tourist hotspots, and as they are a lot larger than basic hammams, they don't feel overcrowded and the experience is more intimate.
Services Offered
Upmarket hammams offer more services than basic hammams, but unlike tourist hammams, all the services are based in authentic Moroccan traditions, whereas in hotels the hammams offer a blend of the basic Moroccan services (sauna, sabon beldi, etc) and services similar to what you'd find in Western spas.
Authentic services you will find in upmarket Moroccan hammams include:
The usual sauna, cleansing with sabon beldi, deep exfoliation and ghassoul clay masks you'll find in every hammam in the country
Massages with argan oil, ghassoul clay, jasmine oil, amber oil, olive oil, honey, or herbal compresses
Herbal steam baths with tabrima, eucalyptus, lavender or mint
Rosewater and orange blossom water rinses
Henna treatments (it's not just used for temporary tattoos but has benefits for the skin and hair)
Facials with products like argan oil, sweet almond oil, honey, and saffron
Foot baths with herbs, oils, and/or milk
(Services will depend on each individual hammam)
The treatments are all high quality by staff who really work for their money. The attendants will scrub off absolutely every bit of dead skin on your body, and I have honestly never been as thoroughly massaged as I have been in these hammams.
Relaxation Lounge
In basic hammams, you just put your clothes on and leave after adjusting to room temperature, but in upmarket ones, you relax in the hammam after towelling off.
After you're dressed, the staff will lead you to another room. To use the hammam local to my great aunt as an example again, the relaxation lounge in this one:
Is full of white chaise longues, one facing another so that you can chat with your companion. They each have a low table in between them, on which a staff member will put down a silver tray, which will have a lit candle which will also have ghassoul clay integrated into it. There will also be glycerin preserved rose petals scattered on the tray, and of course refreshments - a bottle of cold water (much needed after all the heat and steam) and refreshing peppermint tea in a floral cup and matching saucer.
In other upmarket hammams they might have leather couches or armchairs instead of chaise loungues, regular candles without the clay, and Moroccan mint tea instead of peppermint herbal tea, but they'll all follow the same format.
Would I Recommend Trying One of These Hammams?
If you want a luxurious but 100% authentic hammam experience, absolutely! Although hotel hammams are surely fun with their swimming pools, etc, if you want to really experience true Moroccan culture and feel classy while you do it, I'd recommend finding one in a middle or upper class residential area.
They're also inexpensive if you're on Western wages - the one I described in the post is €4 for entry and €15 for a massage, and pretty much all similar hammams will be in that general wheelhouse. Whereas I have no doubt that the ones in hotels are way more expensive - the tourist price vs the local price.
Tips For Going to Authentic Hammams
Whereas in hotels the staff will speak multiple languages, in ones the locals use usually they'll know just Darija and French, maybe basic English but there's no guarantee. If you know French it will be fine, but if not get a Moroccan friend to accompany you.
Shave before going. The attendants will only exfoliate you if your skin is hairless, as the kessa glove can more effectively remove dead skin and impurities without hair in the way, and with smooth skin there's no chance of the rough gloves tugging on your hair and causing your skin to become irritated. The subsequent skincare products applied to your body will also be easier to apply evenly and will be better absorbed. If you haven't shaved beforehand they'll just give you a razor.
You can buy toiletries like soaps and towels, but it's also acceptable to bring your own.
Don't be afraid to get naked. Moroccan women strip down to their panties. Nobody will look at you, everyone is concentrating on bathing (wearing your bra or swimsuit is honestly more likely to bring attention to you than going topless as that's how people will know you're a tourist). You'll see many different body types and all ages in the hammam, so don't worry about being judged if you have stretch marks, extra weight, etc
Men and women bathe in separate areas or buildings, so don't worry about the opposite sex seeing you. You might occasionally see a mother taking her young son with her (as in, toddler age), but never older boys and men.
You can talk and laugh, but don't shout or giggle loudly or anything. It's meant to be a relaxing experience for everyone, and as the rooms are so spacious, loud noises will carry across them.
The massages are really thorough, so be prepared. I've been massaged everywhere from the insides of my ears to my privates in these hammams. If you have anywhere you'd rather they don't touch, communicate it with the massage therapist before getting your massage done, as the norm is to massage literally everywhere.

Into, Across and Beyond! Cast: Black Knight Amy
Replaces: Pavitr Prabhakr / Spider-Man India Made by: @sstorminghearts; idea by @jackattack90909
Tumblr media
Art by sstorminghearts
"Nobody can truly achieve perfection, Caliburn. Mistakes are simply part of who we are, and nobody can make no mistakes. And what we learn from our mistakes is what makes us who we are and helps us grow as people. Well, that's how I can see it, anyway."
You can find the official reference and story for Black Knight Amy in the post linked above, and be sure to follow sstorminghearts' account. They deserve the attention for creating such an amazing concept! I'll simply sum up what was mentioned on the post here before describing her involvement here.
So basically, after Merlina's spell to revive her grandfather accidentally corrupted the Knights of the Round Table, she casted a summoning spell to bring a hero to help save the land. Normally, this would be Sonic, but this time, it was Amy who got dragged into the chaos.
Using the magical "Amulets of the Lake" Merlina granted her, which have the ability to control the Misty Lakes and their magic, she helped purify the kingdom while Merlina taught her how to use this magic to her benefit, all whilst Caliburn watched from the shadows so as not to be spotted.
This time around, Merlina STAYS a pure bean right to the end of this journey. However this time, it's Caliburn that wanted to cause a nasty change once all the Knights and King Arthur were purified. He waited until the last moment to unite with the scabbard and become a corrupted version of Excalibur.
To him, Merlina is imperfect because of her mistake, and anyone who makes mistakes is a threat to his idea of a "perfect" kingdom. He wished to wipe out Camelot and rebuild it from scratch to erase all imperfections, but thankfully, Amy and Merlina put a stop to his plans, teaching him that everyone is flawed and that imperfections are just part of who we are.
During the big explosion in More than One Universe, Amy felt this presence that was calling her to continue protecting worlds beyond hers and Camelot. And so, she re-equipped her Amulets and set out to use them to assist in protecting the OMT universe from harm.
She's also one of those who lacks a "canon event" due to never really losing anyone close to her, especially due to her branching from the official Sonic canon. Following the OMT universe being saved, she became the eighth official member of the Blur Gang thanks to her help overall.
I'm not sure if her and Sonic are a thing yet back in their universe, but who knows? Though she might be crushing more on her Honey as time is going on.
In future stories, it's shown that Amy is REALLY not a fan of the "Department of Redundancy Department" trope, like when people say terms like "PIN number", "naan bread" or "chai tea" in her hearing range, akin to Pavitr disliking it, alongside Indian stereotypes. OMT!Tails, Sleet AND Crimtake all end up falling afoul of this at different points by complete accident.
OMT!Tails: Chai tea, huh? BK!Amy: Tails! "Chai" means "tea"! It's like you're saying "tea tea"! Would I ask you for a "coffee coffee" with a side of "cream cream"? O-Oh! Sorry, heh. Got a little carried away there. (Many More Heroes case) Crimtake: I'm on a journey of, er... self-improvement! Yeah, that's it. BK!Amy: And you came to Shamar of all places to do so? Are you trying to invoke one of those Western culture clichés, or something? Crimtake: Wait, nonono! That isn't what I meant! BK!Amy: So, what next? You're gonna ask me about saffron? Or cardamom? Or "naan bread", the exact same way of saying "bread bread" or trying to say "chai tea"? Crimtake: Ooh, I love chai tea! BK!Amy: NOT YOU TOO!!!
In Many More Heroes, she ended up almost being forced into a sadistic choice; helping save a train her Sonic was helping out, saving Merlina from an oncoming storm, or saving a little girl from harm's way. Under normal circumstances, this would've caused her "canon event", but OMT!Tails being there to help put this right by ensuring all three of them could split the responsibilities evenly.
Tumblr media
This brave act got BK!Amy closer to OMT!Tails and more inspired to help him stop LM!Sonic and Crimtake and defy the canon expectations. And even after that, she was happy to be on hand to help save the day with the rest of the Blur Gang, feeling more and more renewed with each passing day.
If you have any questions related to Black Knight Amy, be sure to ask sstorminghearts about it, since they know more about the character than I do.

Cooking delicious food using spices is a wonderful way to add flavor, aroma, and depth to your dishes. Spices not only enhance the taste of your food but also offer numerous health benefits due to their rich antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Here are some tips on how to cook delicious food using spices, along with examples of popular spices and their culinary uses:
1. Experiment with spice blends: Mix different spices together to create your own unique spice blends that complement the flavors of your dish. For example, mix cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cinnamon for a warm and aromatic Middle Eastern spice blend.
2. Toast spices before using: Toasting spices in a dry skillet before using them in your dishes can help release their essential oils and intensify their flavors. Be careful not to burn them, as this can make the spices bitter.
3. Use whole spices: Whole spices, such as whole cumin seeds, cardamom pods, and cinnamon sticks, can be toasted, ground, or added directly to dishes for a more intense flavor profile.
4. Add spices at the right time: Different spices have different heat tolerances, so it's important to add them at the right time during the cooking process. For example, delicate spices like saffron and ground spices can be added towards the end of cooking to preserve their flavors.
5. Balance flavors: Use a combination of spices to create a balanced flavor profile in your dishes. For example, sweet spices like cinnamon and nutmeg can be balanced with savory spices like cumin and paprika.
Examples of popular spices and their culinary uses:
1. Cumin: Cumin is a versatile spice commonly used in Middle Eastern, Indian, and Mexican cuisines. It adds a warm, earthy flavor to dishes such as chili, curries, and roasted vegetables.
2. Paprika: Paprika comes in various forms, including sweet, smoked, and hot. It is often used to add color and flavor to dishes like stews, soups, and roasted meats.

The Ultimatum Ch 49
Chapter 49
Remus found it appropriate to spend some more time back at their cottage when Emeline was released from hospital a week later and she couldn’t contain her joy in that regard.
She had desperately wanted to go home for quite some time now.
She still had not spoken to George, (or anyone else from the family for that matter), and Remus had been lying low from most of the Order as his daughter finished her stay at St. Mungos and was finally cleared, though still on light bed rest orders.
Tonks had agreed to help move Sirius back to the cottage and spend some time with them, which was a welcomed reprieve for Emeline amidst so much darkness.
It was Remus’ shift for guard duty once more this evening and he was grateful Emeline would not be alone, which he thanked Tonks for profusely; his nerves fairly shattered between everything.
Sirius had a go at him when he inquired why he was not being so heavily praised for looking after Remus’ offspring, to which Remus responded that his presence was a given at this point.
Furthermore, he knew Emeline would benefit from time with a woman.
He had awoken to her crying in her sleep last night, and he knew that through his grogginess, he heard the word mum.
As they approached the cottage door, Saffron flew to them from where she was perched on a flower box, a letter in her beak.
Emeline was steadying herself mostly by holding Remus’ arm, still fairly unbalanced after nearly a week and a half in hospital after such a horrific ordeal, so Remus grabbed the letter with his free hand.
“Thanks, girl.”
Saffron fluttered her wings happily and headed for the front door as Sirius opened it with a large smile. Remus only had time to see the letter had a Hogwarts emblem on the seal.
“There’s our little marauder! Official as ever!” Sirius pulled her in for a hug and she stumbled into it; only Remus caught her wincing.
“Hi, Sirius.” She smiled warmly as Remus kept a hand on her back and Sirius grabbed her shoulder firmly. She knew he wanted to say something else and his eyes were hazy, but he was silent as they finally walked into the cottage.
Emeline breathed a not-so-quiet, sigh of relief as she stepped inside.
The warm smells of chocolate, old books and aging leather swept past her nose and Sirius immediately helped her sink into her favorite spot on the well-loved couch. He handed off a blanket to her that he’d had ready and a stack of her favorite books were on the coffee table.
“Supper will be on shortly. Tonks burned the first round, unsurprisingly.”
“Hey!” She rounded the corner into the living room and rapt him on the head with a gravy dipped wooden spoon. “I don’t see you offering to cook!”
“Tonks!” Emeline moved to stand once more, but Tonks hurried to her and shook her head.
“Don’t you dare! Lovely to be home, isn’t it?” She sat beside her and pulled her into a warm hug. Emeline’s eyes closed as she hugged her back tightly.
Remus breath was caught somewhere in his throat as he watched the scene unfold. He glanced up at Sirius who winked and headed for the kitchen, and once they’d pulled apart on the couch, Tonks stood to hug him.
“The cottage is just wonderful!” She gushed as she looked up at him. Remus shrugged his cloak to hang on the side of the couch and smiled. “It’s so charming. I’ve put new sheets on your bed and, as Sirius so kindly mentioned, supper should be on soon. Tea? I’ve been trying my hand at yours. Oh! And I hope you don’t mind candles. I’ve lit the vertebrae.” She ended cheerfully.
Emeline let out a snort she hadn’t intended to be so loud and Remus shot her a nervous and playful glare.
“That is quite a bit to respond to. I’d love tea and the candles are from my class - I regularly light them-“
“-the ambiance is unbeatable!” Emeline quipped, lying back on the couch with the blanket already pulled up. “I’ll be here all evening if you’d like to give Tonks a proper tour of the house, dad.”
“House is stretching it.” He grinned, turning back to Tonks. “I know it is quite small. My room is really the only other space of notability and she’s already seen it.”
“Not with you.” Emeline replied cheekily.
In the kitchen, Sirius spit out his drink in laughter.
“That’s enough, Emma. You spoke of tea, Tonks?”
She smiled and grabbed his hand to pull him toward the kitchen. His ears went hot and Emeline sunk deeper into the covers with second-hand embarrassment as Sirius entered the living room.
“I reckon I should give the love birds some space.” He handed her a cup of tea as well and she motioned for him to set it on the coffee table. He did so, sitting on the table himself, and peering down at her.
“So, let’s have a moment, shall we? Some heavy things have happened. You seem to be fairing well.” His comment was almost posed as a question.
Emeline shrugged. “What choice do I have?”
“Not much of one, I s’pose.” Sirius responded dismally. “Have you spoken to George?”
“No,” she responded quietly, her eyes swimming with sadness. “I thought it best to give him space; I’m not sure what to say. You know it was dad’s-“
“-yes. I know. I still can’t wrap my head around it. And you… well, how are you really?”
Emeline offered him the best smile she could muster but failed dismally; Sirius shook his head as if to tell her not to put up a facade and she nodded in understanding as tears welled up in her eyes.
“Sirius, this is madness. My hearing is driving me to the brink of insanity. I swear I could tell you a firefly just went past outside and I wouldn’t be exaggerating. The smells - I can’t avoid anything. The antiseptic at the hospital nearly took me out. My head hasn’t stopped throbbing this entire week. Everything is sore and heightened. I’ve never felt anything like this in my life. The truth is, I’m not sure how to cope with all of these changes.”
Sirius let out a slow breath as he nodded, gripping his knees and widening his eyes.
“Damn. That’s a hell of a lot, kiddo. Be nice if you knew another werewolf to talk to.”
“Oh, piss off!” Her tears immediately turned to eyes squinted in laughter as she threw a pillow at him. “You’re the worst uncle in the world.”
“Too bad you’re stuck with me, then. Truly, though, Emeline: Your dad is the only one who knows everything you’re feeling as deeply as you’re feeling it. He is how you cope. Don’t go easy on him.”
“Sirius,” she looked at him intently, struggling to convey the impact the thoughts swirling around had on her. She had yet to be able to tell her father just how grateful she was. It was backwards and screwy in her mind: her father would never accept it despite how stoic he was behaving. “He saved my life.”
What Emeline may have neglected to realize, was her heightened senses certainly did resonate with Remus.
He understood them well; he’d lived with them for roughly three decades now.
He heard her clearly as he smiled kindly at Tonks in the kitchen, zoning out as he heard his daughter’s voice.
“He saved me and all he thinks is that he cursed me. As insane as all of this is, I can’t find a way to be upset about it. I have a lot to learn, and I’m sure I’m in for a hell of a time the next few months, but I could have died, Sirius. I could never repay him for choosing this. To me, it is a gift.”
Sirius own eyes were swimming with tears now, though he’d dare not shed them. He rested a hand on Emeline’s knee over the covers and nodded.
“I understand. He would’ve never considered letting you go.”
“Perhaps not; I just hope I can manage this in a way that honors that choice. I’m trying.”
“I think you’re doing perfectly.”
In an effort to keep Emeline comfortable, dinner was served on the coffee table with her and Tonks on the couch and Sirius and Remus on the floor in front of them.
“We’re too old for this, mate.” Sirius groaned playfully, pulling his knees up to his chest to fit between the chair and coffee table.
Remus laughed as he leaned against the couch arm, Emeline reaching down and grabbing his slice of bread from his hand.
“Speak for yourself, Padfoot. I’ve remained fairly spry.”
“Oh ho! A hero on one full moon and now you can carry the weight of the world. I’ll be confiscating your cane.”
Remus shot him an annoyed scowl at the worst night of his life being a joke, but continued the meal in a jovial mood no less.
He took a quick glance at his watch partway through, and sighed as he looked up at Emeline.
“I have to leave in about half an hour, darling. Are you sure you’ll be alright?”
He could smell the fear and she knew it.
She smiled widely and nodded as Tonks slung an arm around her.
“She’ll be fine! I promised her I’d make a right sight out of this mess tonight.” She grabbed a lock of her hair and held it up in example.
It was incredibly knotted and lackluster after lying in a hospital bed. Emeline was looking forward to a feminine touch on it.
“Right. I’ll be fine.”
Not convincing, pup
I’m not trying to convince you
I’m going to be fine, too
You can’t promise that
They won’t retaliate this quickly
His words stung: the reminder of Arthur’s death hanging heavily over them.
You don’t know that
I believe that, Emma
Don’t go
Neither one of them could believe this slip-up of a plea. He looked at her desperately, torn between two worlds in that moment.
Tonks and Sirius caught the interaction, neither one of them very well at hiding their connection anymore, and decided to begin clearing the table for them to give them some privacy.
Emeline followed her dad’s eyes sadly as he looked from his watch once more to her.
“Don’t go.” She implored him out loud now and the room shrunk down to just them two. Remus shook his head slowly, unable to form words.
Duty
The only thought that came to mind.
Emeline’s breath was shaky as she tried to calm herself, but she felt the panic rising.
“I understand.” She nodded to assure herself. “Just come home.”
Remus looked at her curiously for a moment, tossing her words from earlier around in his mind. He didn’t have the time to address this conversation now, but he knew it was coming.
“I promise you: I’ll be home, Emma. And maybe we can talk some more then,” he grabbed her hand. “I want to hear everything going on in there.” He smiled as he pointed to her head with his free hand.
She smiled and nodded as he stood.
“I don’t care if you promise.” She called after him, and he turned on his heel curiously. “Do you solemnly swear to it?”
He laughed loudly and Emeline chuckled as she rested her head back against her pillow.
“Emeline Mara Lupin, that is the lamest thing I have ever heard. And yes, I solemnly swear I will be home tomorrow.”
Author’s Note: This chapter just made me happy after the heartache that has been. Despite the darkness not being over, I do want some fluff again. Girls time is coming up, with Tonks, and what ever do you think is in that letter? Thank you for reading and commenting! 🩷

So, Here Are Some Teas That Will Make Your Sex Life So Much Better
SHELLIE R. WARREN
MAR 22, 2023 07:00 AM EST
Even though we’re officially exiting one season (winter) and entering another (spring), that doesn’t mean that your tea game has to slow down. Aside from the fact that springtime tends to still have some pretty chilly nights, there is nothing like a tall glass of herbal iced tea that’s been sweetened with honey and a bit of fresh fruit on the days when it’s warmer outdoors.
And while we’re on the topic of teas, why not consume some that will make things hotter in the bedroom? Yep, there are certain ones out here (12 in this article) that have some strong data to support the fact that they can do wonders for your libido — on a few different levels.
So, after reading this, commit to picking up some loose-leaf tea (oftentimes it’s best). Boil for 20 minutes, let it cool, put it in a mason jar and let it steep for 48 hours (with your favorite sweetener). Then add some ice and take it all in. You’ll have an all-natural concoction that will get you maximum herb intake and quite possibly some pretty intense orgasms too (whew-whee!).
1. Ashwagandha Tea
If there’s one artist who tickles me as much as he low-key terrifies me when it comes to the random ish that comes out of his mouth, it’s Kevin Gates. On the laughing tip, I literally cried as I was reading the comments under this particular Twitter post because it’s clear that either he doesn’t know how to pronounce maca (maa·kuh) or ashwagandha (aash·wuh·gaan·duh) or he was really going out of his way to make the cadence work in this song. LOL. Anyway, he does help to prove the point that this herb is that one when it comes to boosting libido levels.
Since ashwagandha has a solid reputation for reducing stress and anxiety, improving athletic performance, and even making depression-related symptoms easier to bear, it would make perfect sense that it’s known for being an aphrodisiac too.
There are studies that support that it can be helpful when it comes to strengthening women’s orgasms, in part, by reducing vaginal dryness and discomfort during intercourse. Some studies reveal that it can help to increase testosterone levels in both men and women as well.
A word of caution on this one, though. If you’re diabetic, breastfeeding, have an overactive thyroid, or take sedatives, run this one by your physician first. As with just about any herb, ashwagandha can be potent and come with unwanted side effects for certain types of individuals.
2. Green Tea
Okay, so from what I’ve read and researched, on average, a cup of brewed coffee is gonna have somewhere around 96 mg of caffeine per cup while that same cup of green tea is gonna land at around 28 mg. So, if you’re someone who wants to ease off of caffeine a bit this year or you want a pick-me-up that doesn’t pack as big of a punch as coffee does, green tea will do it. Some other benefits include the fact that it’s loaded with antioxidants, it can help to improve your brain function, it fights off the free radicals that are in your system and it can help you to lose weight.
On the sex tip, aside from the fact that the caffeine that’s in it can give you a boost of energy on the days/nights when the mind is willing but the flesh is weak, green tea also can improve and increase blood circulation which results in longer erections for him and better orgasms for you.
3. Saffron Tea
The brief backstory on saffron is it’s a spice that comes from a flower. It’s said to have originated in Greece and is one of the most popular spices when it comes to cooking. It ain’t cheap, I’ll just tell you that now. Still, it’s got some benefits that are worth noting.
Saffron reduces body inflammation, helps with weight loss, is effective at minimizing PMS-related symptoms, helps to put you into a better mood, and is said to lower blood sugar levels and heart disease risks too.
The reason why the tea form of it made it onto this particular list is that some studies say that saffron is beneficial in naturally treating men who deal with erectile dysfunction (ED) while also improving the libido of women who take antidepressants.
4. Vanilla Tea
Vanilla tea is dope on a few different levels. It’s slightly sweet even without anything like sugar or honey in it. It contains quite a few antioxidants. It’s got a way of increasing your metabolism while decreasing your stress levels at the same time. It also contains properties that help to soothe your nervous system and improve your quality of sleep.
Since I already know that vanilla is an aphrodisiac scent, I’m not surprised at all that it’s also a libido booster in tea form. Some studies say that it helps to heal erectile dysfunction while increasing arousal. Others say that it can enhance a man’s sexual performance over time.
And again, since the scent of vanilla alone can increase arousal in men by almost 10 percent, that sounds like a solid enough reason to have a sip — or two.
5. Damiana Tea
One day, I’m gonna share my journey with Damiens. I’ve had three in my lifetime and whew, chile. Anyway, when it comes to damiana tea, one of the things that it’s most known for is improving the quality of sex lives.
As a shrub that is quite popular in traditional Mexican medicine, damiana has been used for everything from bronchitis and fevers to fungal infections, anemia, and gastrointestinal issues.
What makes it a win in the sexual pleasure department is it contains a powerful amount of flavonoids (compounds that are found in fruits and vegetables) that can intensify your natural sex hormones. The stronger your hormones are, honey…I’m pretty sure that you already know the rest.
6. Cinnamon Tea
I can’t believe that it’s (almost) been four years since I’ve talked about how applying cinnamon essential oil on your partner’s genitalia can make for a really good time (hey, don’t knock it until you tried it; I talk about all-a-dat right here).
As far as cinnamon in tea form goes, it’s another one that’s filled with antioxidants. Cinnamon tea also helps to lower inflammation and blood sugar levels, contains powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties (which is great when it comes to treating tooth decay) and it can make period cramps less painful. As a serious bonus, it also helps to fight certain HIV-related strains (the more you know).
And what makes it great for your libido? For one thing, the lower your blood sugar levels are, the less stressed you’ll feel and the less constricted your blood flow will be; this means longer and more intense orgasms. Also, because cinnamon is spicy, the turn-up of heat in your body can also heighten your arousal levels.
7. Maca Tea
If you clicked on that Twitter link, you heard Kevin (attempt to) combine maca with ashwagandha — and honestly, that’s one hell of a combination, y’all. That’s because maca is well-known for being an aphrodisiac too.
Before getting into how/why, some other benefits of this herb are it helps to keep free radicals out of your system, improves your memory, and is also pretty good at reducing symptoms that are directly associated with menopause.
As far as coitus goes, it’s got all kinds of ways to improve it. Maca has been proven to increase a man’s sex drive, make sex more pleasant for postmenopausal women, improve a man’s sperm quality and put you and your partner into a better mood. So, if you’ve never had a good reason to try maca before, now you’ve got a few of ‘em.
8. Ginger Tea
Ginger is another popular spice that comes with some strong medicinal properties. That’s why a lot of people use it to treat motion sickness, keep their blood pressure in check, help keep cancer cells at bay, and to reduce bodily inflammation.
Since ginger is also seen as being a natural stimulant that increases blood circulation while reducing oxidative stress, it’s just one more tea that can help your sex life out. Oh, and if you’re trying to get pregnant, that’s another reason to add it to your diet. That’s because the properties of ginger can improve the quality of sperm while also strengthening ovarian follicles. How dope is that?
9. Rose Tea
If you’ve always wondered what rose tea is made from, you can literally create it yourself by steeping fresh rose petals. As far as the reasons why it can be good for your health, rose tea is high in vitamins C and E, it contains properties that help to lower your blood pressure, the polyphenols in it can help to reduce pain and discomfort, it can help to keep your skin radiant and your hair healthy and it’s a great immunity booster.
And why would your sex life appreciate it so much? Rosewater, period, helps to decrease stress and increase blood flow. The calmer you are and the more blood that’s flowing to your genital regions, the better your sexual experiences can be!
10. Spearmint Tea
Off the rip, one of the things that I like about any mint tea is it can help to make my breath smell fresher. When it comes to spearmint specifically, it gets applause for also treating motion sickness and nausea, lowering blood pressure levels and even improving your memory. Some other things worth noting are the fact that spearmint tea helps to fight bacterial infections and decrease the pain that’s related to arthritis.
Sex-wise, because spearmint tea is a stress reducer, it can also help you to feel calm and relaxed. And, since it also is known to be a hormone balancer, it can make getting in the mood easier when you’re PMS’ing or you’re going through menopause.
11. Ginseng Tea
If there’s any herb on this list that you probably already knew was good for your libido, ginseng would have to be it. We’ll get to why in just a moment. For now, let’s tackle some other reasons why you should consume it more (or more often).
Ginseng helps to do everything from reducing fatigue and fighting inflammation to improving brain function and strengthening your immune system. In fact, if you feel a cold coming on, a few cups of ginseng, very early on, can help to knock it right on out.
Your sex life will appreciate ginseng because it’s another tea that helps to treat erectile dysfunction by reducing oxidative stress that may be lurking around in a man’s blood vessels (especially in the ones down below). Ginseng is also a winner because it can give women more energy to even want to have sex. Definitely something to keep in mind on the days after work when you want some, but you need a pick-me-up to get the engines started (if you know what I mean).
12. Horny Goat Weed Tea
I mean, for real, though, anything that has the word “horny” in it must work…at least a lil’ bit, right? Believe it or not, horny goat weed (also known as Epimedium) is popular in the traditional Chinese medicine world and has been linked to helping people who deal with asthma, osteoporosis, PMS and Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s Diseases.
BY FAR (and yes, I am yelling it), what it’s best known for is getting bedrooms in check. It’s got a great reputation for naturally treating ED (which is why it has the nickname “natural Viagra”). It contains phytoestrogens which is a plant-based form of estrogen (which can help with natural vaginal lubrication, for starters). It can also balance out your cortisol levels (your natural stress hormone) and strengthen your libido. So, if feeling horny is what you want to do, horny goat weed can make that happen — and then some, chile.

One of the most popular aspects of Turkish cuisine is its desserts, known for their sweetness and unique texture. Two of the most famous Turkish desserts are baklava and Turkish delight. Baklava is a pastry made from layers of phyllo filled with chopped hazelnuts and honey syrup; Turkish delight, on the other hand, is a sweet, chewy confection made with starch and sugar, often flavored with rose water or other natural extracts. Herbal tea is made from a variety of natural herbs and flowers such as sage, chamomile and rosehip. This tea is often consumed for its health benefits, including its ability to calm digestion, boost the immune system, and promote relaxation. Turkish coffee is a strong, rich coffee made using a special method of boiling coffee grounds in water and serving it without filtering. Turkish coffee is often served with a small glass of water and Turkish delight, making it a popular and enjoyable social experience.
