The Conversation Pt 3

Ultra Magnus x Reader

• When you wake it’s with a pounding headache and a raw throat. Something hard slides behind your head and tips it up and then there’s a container against your lips. Swallowing greedily when you realize it’s cold water, reaching a hand to try and tilt it more. “Slowly,” says a deep, soothing voice as the water’s pulled away and you suck in a shaky breath.

• Cupping the back of your head with a servo, he wonders if he should have removed the Magnus armor. He’d still be bigger than you are, but not so overwhelmingly huge. Too late now though as your eyes open and you stiffen. “I won’t hurt you.” Can see the panic in those eyes and hear as your breathing quickens. Needs to distract you before you start screaming. “Do you need more water? Are you cold?”

• Dreaming? Or a nightmare? Disoriented, you stare up at the giant robot as it pinches a hilariously tiny container full of water between two servos. Asking if you need anything. And you just stare at him. Trying to figure out what you’d watched or ate the night before to cause this surreal and vivid a dream and realizing you can’t remember. Giant robots. Maybe you’d watched Pacific Rim or Beyond Skyline? Except, you’re aware of his hard servo against the back of your head and the warmth of it. That the water had been almost painfully cold. Little details that you’ve never had in a dream. Because it’s not a dream, is it?

• So far, so good. You’re not screaming at least. Just staring at him in a sort of mute horror that probably isn’t really better. “You’re going to be okay,” he says, feeling guilty about it. Because he doesn’t really know. Moving slowly as if he’s some dangerous predator, you scoot back some and he pulls his servos away from you to give you space. “You’re on an Autobot exploratory ship. There was an… accident.” And you’re still staring blankly, that empty expression deeply unsettling. Shouldn’t you have some reaction to this? Fear, shock, something?

• Lips pressing into a thin line as you look up at him, you shake your head. Unexpectedly shaky when you stand, your legs wobble like you’re on a ship at sea. He had said ship, right? But you really don’t think he meant you’re sailing on the ocean. Maybe the seas of delusion. Striding away from him and his nonsense, you rock to a stop before you even get to the edge of the surface you’re on when he blocks you with a hand. Giant robots and space? Who’d have thought this is where your mind would go when it finally reached its limit. Makes you wonder what finally broke you. Head tipping to look up at him, you shake your head. “Nah, I’m good. You just disappear or whatever. Begone.” Raising a hand to make a shooing gesture you wonder why you couldn’t have a mental breakdown and pretend you were somewhere nice. Maybe Hawaii instead of giant robot land as his mouth falls open.

Din/Luke Pacific Rim AU pt.4

Posting part four of this for a slightly late Star Wars day post. (It's technically still May 4th for me).

I had a lot of fun designing/drawing their drivesuits. I've always been a fan of drawing armor, so this was definitely my comfort zone.

Din rolls his shoulders in his drivesuit as he makes his way through the shatterdome. After all these years he thought it might be odd to get back into the suit, but it's like he never left. It's almost uncanny how natural it feels to put on the old polycarbonate armor.

After the confrontation between Marshal Skywalker and Luke, Din isn't sure what to expect as he makes his way to the Crest's conn-pod. It was clear Luke was the best candidate, even ignoring their drift compatibility, he was the only other person who had experience in an actual Jaeger. It made no sense for the Marshal to keep Luke grounded from a strategical standpoint, so it must be personal.

It didn't take a genius to realize that the relationship between the Marshal and his son was strained. Din didn't have the first clue as to why, but despite it, he understood where the Marshal was coming from. Even with everything on the line, he's not sure he could ever willingly put his son's life on the line. Thinking about it, Din is surprised that the Marshal even let Luke pilot for as long as he did. If Grogu grew up wanting to be a pilot, if the war lasted that long, Din isn't sure he'd be able to handle it.

But the way Luke and him fought. His skin was still electric from the way they met strike for strike. Din can't imagine piloting with anyone else after that. He isn't sure he'll even be compatible enough with any of the other candidates. Then what? Will he just go home? Watch from the sidelines as they make a run for the breech? He isn't sure what's worse, being unsuccessful here and watching his slow death on the TV, or being unsuccessful at the breech. Either way he'll die knowing he failed, failed the world, failed his son. He can't let that happen. So he'll just have to succeed. And the only way to do that is with Luke.

Din had just made up his mind when he approached the scaffolding that would lead him to the Crest's conn-pod. He was about to turn around and find the Marshal when a familiar figure walked towards him.

"Luke..?" Din trailed off. Luke was wearing a shiny black drivesuit and a sunny smile.

"Looks like I won that bet after all." Luke jogs over to Din's side, giving him a friendly punch on the arm before making his way to the ladder.

Din stays frozen for a long moment, unsure of what to make of the situation. He just stares as Luke begins to climb the ladder up to the conn-pod, helmet under his arm. Halfway up Luke pauses and turns towards him, meeting his gaze.

"You coming or not, partner?" Luke asks with a smile bordering on mischievous.

Din can't but help but return a small smile before jogging to catch up to Luke.

last tv show: community. We are nearing the end of season 2 and we are slamming face first into late 2000s homophobia, but yknow it's very funny when it isn't doing that.

“Hey.”  Steve nudges Bucky’s shoulder and tilts his head toward the door of the canteen.  “New blood.”

Riley and Sam turn all the way around to look, not in the least bit subtle as the newcomers follow Coulson in and grab trays.

They are an odd match to be drift compatible — the man as tall and broad-shouldered as the woman is small and slender.  Similar in age, so probably siblings or romantic partners.  Or just new recruits from the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, maybe.  There’s not a jaeger in the assembly line anywhere near to done, but having a backup team on hand is never a bad idea with how high the casualty count has been lately.  Fewer minutes on the war clock after every event, and he heard Pietro Maximoff took a hard hit in Scarlet Sentry the other day — enough to put him out of commission for at least a few weeks.

“Interesting,” Steve says.  “They could almost pass for —” He stops, the forkful of macaroni arrested halfway to his mouth.  “Holy geez,” he says reverently.  “That’s —”

“Lucky Striker,” Bucky finishes.  “Sonuvabitch!”

Romanoff and Barton.  They’re legends, the very first team to establish a neural handshake once Stark nearly blew out his heart trying to pilot a jaeger alone and realized it only works with a shared neural and physical load.

They have more kills than any other team out there.  Hong Kong, Vladivostok, Lima — Lucky Striker has held the line at almost every ‘dome on the rim.  Steve and Bucky have pored over the footage of every single one of their kills, marveling at the way their jaeger moves.  Fluid, seamless, graceful.  And most of all, of course, deadly.

“Think they’re just visiting or they’re here to fight?” Steve asks.

“Either way, we’ll probably at least get to see them in the kwoon,” Riley drawls.  “Shee-it, won’t that be sweet?  Whaddaya think they’ll use?  Staffs?  Nunchaku?  Or just hand-to-hand?”

“Whatever it is, it’s gonna be fuckin’ beautiful,” Bucky says.  

He can’t take his eyes off of Barton.  In the recruitment posters and news clips he’s handsome, sure — tall and blond with an easy smile.  In person though, he’s not nearly as polished.  His hair is all mussed up like he just tumbled out of bed, his faded t-shirt has a hole near the collar, and he’s got about four days’ worth of stubble shadowing his jaw.  There are bright purple hearing aids looped behind each ear, a Wonder Woman bandaid across the bridge of his nose, and a scrape along his cheekbone.  Bucky thinks this scuffed up and scruffy version of Barton is about a million times more appealing than the airbrushed PanPac posterboy.

As Bucky watches, Barton reaches out to snag a piece of lemon meringue pie.  He puts his thumb right into it as he tries to fit it onto his already-full tray.

“Aw, pie, no,” Bucky hears him say mournfully over the background hum of conversation.  He balances the overfull tray on one forearm, bicep threatening to split the seams of that threadbare t-shirt, and sticks his thumb in his mouth, sucking off the smudge of lemon and meringue.

Bucky feels his heart stutter as he watches that thumb going into Barton’s lush mouth and coming back out, leaving both it and Barton’s lips pink and wet and shiny.  “Fuckin’ beautiful,” he breathes.

I’m an airhead. I’m extremely blunt in what I say, but I’ve also been described as ‘speaks like an old English poet’ so??? I speak my mind and I’m also very aggressive. I’m stubborn, to a fault, and also very indecisive. I stay in my room most of the time, as there’s nobody to actually talk to at home (I’m an only child) but I don’t mind traveling. I’m talkative and fidget a lot, and all of my jokes are either extremely dark or strange. I don’t deal with peoples bs, and I’ve made one or two well known school bullies cry because of how I can speak to them if they’re bullying my friends. I’m academically gifted (that’s what literally everyone says. I think it’s the Autism) and I’m usually a straight A student besides in PE / Gym. My MBTI is INTP and my bday is Aug 10, which makes me a Leo.

IM AUSTRALIAN!!!!! I’m nonbinary, and prefer to use She/Her and They/Them pronouns, but I don’t really mind the other ones :) I’m Demi // Bi (I have a female lean, but I also love men) and I have a sort of mid brown hair colour with a streak of white in the front (I dye my hair quite a bit lol). My eyes are actually blue-grey-green, with the main colour being a bluish-grey and the area just around my pupil is green. I have ADHD, an eating disorder, insomnia, OCD, an anxiety disorder and I’m very high functioning ASD alongside being a short sleeper. I also have a lot of other physical health problems too. I adore drawing, reading and playing video games, especially open-world explorer games and slice of life games, but I also enjoy indie games. I’m usually up extremely late, and I wake up early, but I don’t feel tired from shorter sleep due to being a short sleeper. I am 5’9 (tall for my age), and my aesthetic is tomboy and weirdcore! I’m extremely skinny (you can see my spine through my shirts :( ) and paranoid at about what other people think of me. I’m a snake and a cat person, and I also loveeeeee rodents -especially ferrets- and birds.

My favourite foods are Japanese street foods, but I can’t stomach any kind of seafood, olive or tomato. I’m allergic to soap. I’m very sensitive, both emotionally and physically, but also very strange. I bite people to show affection (my love language is the sixth one: violence /j) and my actual love language is physical touch.

My favourite shows and movies are: MHA, KNY, Dunmeshi, Advent Children, Pacific Rim, Lord of kf the Rings and House MD. My favourite video games are Horizon Zero Dawn + Forbidden west, Final Fantasy 7 Remake + Rebirth + Crisis Core + Dirge of Cerberus, Hades, Stardew Valley and Hollowknight. I’m a backstage theatre kid, the one who works all of the lights. I love to read fantasy literature and adventure novels.

My ideal type is intelligent women, ideally much shorter or taller than I am, who are in either STEM or healthcare. My ideal type for men is antisocial but sweet, emo, absolute cinnamon roll, strong but shy.

First off; she will never treat you any differently because you’re “ Strange” and she certainly doesn’t think of you like that

You both understand each other on a deeper level because you both kind of mimic other people in your own ways

Given the people she is around I don’t think she necessarily even thinks you’re blunt. Just honest

From what I understand of her she is more decisive and possibly less stubborn especially with people she cares about and care about her so you balance each other out in that way

You two have being only child in common as far as I am aware so I honestly see you two having a deep connection because you both you’re both one of the only ones the other has

I think she’d like to travel with you, she seems pretty chill to do anything with you

She is also pretty talkative and fidgety

She loves your humor/jokes and even makes some of her own

She had to learn to take care of herself through everything she’s been through. It’s not lost on me that her parents abused her, so if you go after someone who hurts her or upsets her it honestly makes her emotional because she’s never had anyone stand up for her or protect her before

She cares about you and wants to make sure you’re physically healthy, so she might suggest getting help with the eating disorder. However, she is completely non judgmental and will never force you to do that if you don’t want and she will not bring it up besides lightly suggesting

I don’t know why but I feel like she’s is a very heavy sleeper, so odds are she won’t be awake if you can’t sleep. But that doesn’t mean you can’t wake her up if you just want some company

Honestly for any of the disorders or really anything she’s there for you in whatever way you need and is very understanding and loving

She also loves all the kinds of animals people tend to deem “ weird” because she feels a kinship with them

I mean she consumes peoples blood I don’t think biting is going to bother her much 😂

I think she enjoys learning about mythology with you because it’s generally interesting

As long as it isn’t particularly hard or draws blood I think she’s fine with you biting her to show affection

So I watched Pacific Rim for the first time yesterday, in my late 20s (holy shit holy fuck holy shit why did I not see this sooner et cetera).

I've got a copy of the sequel Uprising too but I've heard some less good things about it (that it may contradict stuff in the first one etc) - would you recommend Uprising or is it better to just stick to the classic?

It depends on the movie experience you're looking for/what you're willing to put up with. In order to explain fully, I'll have to drop some mild spoilers, so be warned.

Uprising goes whole hog with a very pro-cop, pro-military attitude. Mako Mori is basically a cop. Jaegers are weaponized against civilians. There's child soldiers. Where the first movie presents the PPDC as a problematic institution that sometimes performs useful services (its bias toward protecting the wealthy is noted), Uprising presents it as unambiguously good and desirable to be a part of. The film seems to be completely unaware that the world it depicts is utterly dystopian. To see a sequel to a Guillermo del Toro film basically go "police states are cool and cool people support them!" is... jarring, let's say.

And then of course there's the whole storyline with Newt and Hermann. Some people enjoy it for the angst/angst fic potential. I personally just hate it because to me it just feels like what fundamentalists think will happen if you crack open a medieval grimoire or use a Ouija board or something. Like, it just feels this close to a corruption story from a Chick tract to me. Also, the movie turns Hermann into this utter doormat around Newt. It's very hard to imagine that this version of Hermann Gottlieb ever actually argued with Newt, and it's very difficult to imagine that the Hermann of the first film would have put up with Newt's behavior in this movie.

And yes, there's some... continuity weirdness. Like Newt's supposedly been drifting with the kaiju brain chunk from the first movie for ten years, even though the chunk being good for only one drift was a major plot point in the first film. Now of course minor continuity errors aren't a big deal, but here it just feels really sloppy; and in light of the way the second film lionizes the PPDC, it feels like another case of just not caring what the original film was doing.

And of course, what ultimately ends up happening with Mako Mori was a severe [everybody disliked that] moment.

The jaeger designs aren't as varied as they are in the first film, and the fight scenes suffer from a lot of visual clutter. The kaiju themselves are fine, but it's kind of hard to appreciate them when all of the clutter just makes it difficult to register what you're seeing.

And speaking of visuals, if you were really into the look of the first film, or into the way del Toro used color symbolism, Uprising is going to be a letdown. Like the first Pacific Rim film uses the color yellow for Raleigh. Uprising basically uses the color yellow because the first movie used the color yellow.

And then on the other hand... there's Jake Pentecost and Liwen Shao.

John Boyega's acting is great. He makes the character incredibly funny and likable. Sure, the whole thing with Jake being Pentecost's son doesn't really make a lot of sense, but when I actually watch him I just can't really care that much. Mainly I just wish he'd been in a much better movie, where maybe he was Pentecost's nephew or something. He and Nate Lambert read as ex-boyfriends, and for me their interactions are fun to watch.

Liwen Shao is so fun to watch as this genuinely kind of terrible person. In my view the character is utterly wasted on a story that doesn't really seem to appreciate why she's terrible. However, she's kinda got that whole evil girlboss vibe. If you like it when women are kinda evil, you might enjoy Liwen Shao.

So yeah, it's really down to what you're interested in and willing to put up with. It's really not a good film, but some parts of it can be enjoyable.

how did they do voltron a second time

I don't think it's the worst "finale" we could've gotten, but it's verily lackluster, considering how great the ending for og Trollhunters was.

I think the worst part is arguably the 'Unbecoming' part during the last 10 minutes, especially since Jim had finally gotten his amulet back and was REALLY ready to throw down again, just like the good old days.

The original series already showed us that Jim not being the Trollhunter wasn't destiny, so it sorta feels like a kick in the teeth for Jim to casually pass it on to Toby. I would want to think the implication is that Jim is going to bear the burden of knowing there was a worse outcome in the other timeline. But that still feels just as bad.

The idea is that the ENTIRE journey we all just went on was null and void. Did it happen? Yes, because Jim remembers by the end and he's going to use that knowledge to make this second shot better. But it feels so cheap at the end of the day.

It was like they wanted to write a little more tragedy into the show, but knew that they needed to give it a big send-off that would leave fans with some decent closure. Unfortunately, the closure comes in the form of having to accept that the massive journey you just went on has been forgotten.

Now, if this had branched into some mega version of "Unbecoming," where Jim has to face the consequences of his actions, I don't think that'd be a bad idea. But it ain't where the series ended, and thus, I don't like to consider the movie when I think about the series as a whole.

Besides the ending, I don't think the whole movie was bad. I thought the opening sequence with tryna get Nari to safety was cool and beautifully animated. There were a few scenes throughout the whole movie that I thought were fuckin dope, like the scene where Jim gets the amulet back while he's gonna fight Belroc. That whole sequence was very hype and it honestly felt earned.

The animation quality for the movie as a whole is immaculate. Nothing looks out of place as far as the original series goes, it just looks like they got a higher budget for the movie and told the animation team to go nuts. Again, it's gorgeous and I'm glad I watched it for the animation alone.

I have always had my faves and dislikes in the voice cast of ToA. Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten past the loss of Anton Yelchin for Jim. His new VA does a splendid job in his memory, but part of why I loved Jim so much in the original series was that passion from the late Anton. Of course, that's nothing that can be fixed. I have no issue with Jim's voice as it is, I just mourn what we've lost. Everyone else in the main cast does a great job, and I have a soft spot for Douxie especially. He was a beautiful addition to the franchise as a whole.

Besides that, I wouldn't want to rag on the movie fulltime besides saying the Steve and Aja sideplot was someone's disguised fetish, so I'm not commenting on that at all. I also thought Aja and Krel's presence in the movie was very weak, considering how fun a sideseries 3Below had been. The Varvatos mech was cool, even if it was just another Pacific Rim. Wish they'd been in the movie more as leading protags.

I'll write down one last thing: I thought the ending of Wizards ended kinda weak, considering how long it'd been since we saw Troll-Jim, and I personally would've loved to see more of that version of him before it got swept away in plot resolution. So not getting to see that side of him for the movie felt like a semi-loss. I don't mind that he got saved. Just that it was too soon and we could've seen more of that troll-ish side like we saw in the original series.

Overall opinion? Very poor quality close to the whole franchise. Not a terrible movie as a standalone. Good animation, bad writing choices. I don't personally think of it as canon, or accept it as a proper ending.

I can't think of much else to say, but if you wanted my opinion on anything I didn't say here, totally okay to respond or reblog with further discussion! The series as a whole means a lot to me and I enjoy talking about it, even if we do a little nitpicking.

I don't think you have, anon, or at least I haven't saved it in my recastings tag, haha. It's been so long since I watched The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and even longer since I read the books, so these might be a little off, but hopefully not, haha. It was a fun one to think about.

Let's start with the role I found easiest:

Funnily enough, Tibby's storyline was the one that stayed with me the most / that I had the clearest memory of, and having seen Myha'la in three things in pretty quick succession recently (Bodies Bodies Bodies, Dumb Money and Leave the World Behind), I just think she'd be great. She's definitely got that sort of edginess paired with vulnerability that makes Tibby such a compelling character, plus I just find her really watchable as an actress.

I've only seen Havana Rose Liu in Bottoms but found her really charming in it and thought she had chemistry with pretty much everyone, which feels like a big part of the role with Bridget. Plus, y'know, the hair is an important factor too, haha.

Full disclaimer: I haven't seen Priscilla yet (it doesn't come out here until late January), and there is a chance she could become too big for a role like this, but honestly, I think it could be good for her. So much of her filmography at the moment is playing daughters or young versions of characters in middle-of-the-road awards bait (On the Basis of Sex, Vice and The First Lady), or in tentpole genre cinema (Pacific Rim: Uprising, Bad Times at the El Royale), and a good coming of age movie that lets her step into her own in an ensemble cast I think could be a good move. Of course, it does seem like Priscilla has a bit of that too, but something with the rewatch value and cultural cache of Sisterhood feels like its own sort of move.

I haven't seen much of Haskiri's work, but a friend's kid was obsessed with the Saved by the Bell reboot while it was airing, so I caught a few episodes whenever I went over and just found her really delightful. Having the space to explore her range in a role like Carmen - one of the emotional anchors of the story and the Sisterhood in general, I think - could be a great opportunity, and with any luck, she might get the chance to follow in America Ferrera's shoes. After all, America certainly seems to have had the most successful (and interesting) career out of the original cast.

I have been watching Neon Genesis Evangelion lately and it has been a train ride of a series. Really been making me like more mechas. I have always liked the concept, but watching long fight scenes were never my favorites.

Here's a new digimon concept (that I will write for the digimon frontier cast). Have the digimon be giant mechas that the kids control and can get in.

A lot of digimon lean towards more mechanical than flesh. MegaGargomon, Chaosdramon, and Trailmon are a few examples.

I can't believe we have kids turning into digimon and fusioning with their digimon, but we cannot have one where they just control the digimon.

Obviously, the digimon are sentient and have a mind of their own. They can refuse to let someone control them and not do what their partner wants, but it makes them stronger when they work together.

In a digimon frontier universe related to mechas, this is not as possible because the kids are the digimon. Their mechas are just their second skin that they get into and equip in battle, but they are digimon that should be respected and handled with care.

They may let the kids take full control, but they can reject them at any time and do feel pain in battle. The digimon are obviously bigger when they are in the mecha universe. They are 5-10 times the size they usually are.

For a mecha digimon frontier universe, there is a digimon epidemic going around. They have manifested in the human world and are becoming a problem, to the point of terrorizing towns and taking control of cities. Digimon territories are dangerous and humans are killed once they are found in these zones.

I want the government to extract digimon and force them to combine with digital mecha armor. After a while, they were able to get spirits of the legendary warriors through brute force. They used the dormant spirits to form the greatest weapon for mankind, but the spirits reject anyone who tries to enter their new form.

Takuya is in a training academy. He wants to pilot one of these suits one day. He has a big rivalry with Kouji and wants to beat him. He will make sure he pilots a digimon suit before he does. (inspired by pacific rim)

He suddenly stumbles upon MechaAgunimon with J.P, Zoe, and Tommy. They tried to stop him from entering the restricted area and going into the suit.

Once inside, MechaAgunimon accepts him and he is able to move around. He accidentally breaks out of the facility and alerts everyone. The digimon were able to sense the powerful presence and want the suit for themselves. They come to attack the facility and MechaAgunimon. Takuya fights them off and wins.

Kouji catches wind of this and questions him about it, more interested in the suit than his ranking or rivalry. He never acknowledges the rivalry, but gets annoyed when Takuya teases him and makes fun of him. (inspired by voltron klance)

So I watched The Virgin Suicides the other day and it was a film that I thought I would have loved but, instead, I found it underwhelming. If you wanna fight me on that, stop reading this post already because it's NOT on The Virgin Suicides, but on another movie completely.

Seen as I thought I would have loved The Virgin Suicides and I didn't, because I am tired ans recovering from a day long hangover I decided to watch a movie I never wanted to watch because I could already tell I was going to hate it: Pacific Rim. Now, other than the obvious reasons of the experiment and also my brain not being able to understand anything deeper than Pacific Rim right now, I have other reasons to watch this movie: Charlie Day, Burn Gorman (am I the only one who watched Forever?) and their ship, which I was aware of even before I was aware of the movie.

I have also a history and not being very on-board with del Toro's works lately, namely Pinocchio's movie (another movie I thought I was gonna love), Crimson Peak (I have a list of complains I have been keeping to myself since 2015) and Cabinet of Curiosites (cool project, execution meh). But, believe it or not, I like usually like del Toro's work. I usually like it a lot. I honestly couldn't believe something that I have always thought as bootleg Evangelion could be directed by him, but hey, life wouldn't be as beautiful as it is without surprises.

So now I am watching Pacific Rim. And to anyone who cares, I am noting down my thoughts as I go.

In the end, did I like this movie? No, that's pretty much a no, although I went in expecting to hate it 100%, while actually it was more like 85%. It's not a joke, honestly there were some nice things for me and the fact that I didn't completely hate it took me by surprise and I do consider this a victory. Truthfully, I think we just want to interact with people that share our interests and our passions, regardless of age.

And quite frankly, the idea that you might be excluded from fandom for "being too old" feels mightily weird when you're in fandoms like "Lucifer" where, like, the whole freaking main cast were playing their roles in their late 30s/early 40s!

Tom Ellis is 3 years older than I am (same age as my actual life partner that I've been with for the last 17 years), we're both Xennials, and you have a bunch of teenagers lusting over him and calling him "Daddy" online... while being disgusted at the thought of actual 40 y.o. being fans of a character that represents them?

Yeah, I do remember being 15 and lusting over older actors, characters, or even RL people. I get it's all part of a human being's natural development, and its the adults' responsibility to set healthy boundaries and even keep watch for people that would try to take advantage of that.

But that's the point.

Older fans often feel very protective of youngsters that are new to fandom, and will do what they can to make sure every interaction remains safe.

We are grandparents, parents, uncles/aunts, godmothers/godfathers, teachers, healthcare workers, etc. that regularly interact with younger generations outside of fandom spaces, too, and care about said younger generations' online safety.

There again, if you have videogames, like "Mass Effect", that are rated "M for Mature", there is a reason for that (namely the high level of violence, mature themes, and body horror) and we do tend to consider it the parents' responsibility to make sure they know the types of games their kids are playing.

We do try to spot fans that aren't 18+ yet and keep things safe and age appropriate for them, but if they step into adult spaces lying about their age, we can't perform freaking miracles!

Most TV shows, videogames, books, movies, comic books, etc. include characters of various age groups interacting together in a bunch of different situations.

They explore very varied and often deeply adult themes.

Anyway: Klara and the Sun: absolutely. I had to read a bunch of Kazuo Ishiguro for different classes and I always enjoy his stuff. Have you read Never Let Me Go? It’s technically sci-fi, and it’s one of the saddest books I’ve ever read. Very, very good, but so god damn heartbreaking.

Love, love, love Studio Trigger. I got into them because of Dungeon Meshi, then watched Promare because it looked really intriguing. I really wanna check out the rest of their stuff as well because it all looks so good and I think I would really love it…just gotta find the time lol.

Pacific Rim: Love it! Been forever since I watched it and I should probably rewatch it soon. Also love Guillermo del Toro. Such a cool dude and his stuff is amazing (still need to watch more of his works but yeah. Love GdT). 

I have heard of the murderbot diaries and they do sound fun. I’ve got too many books on my tbr already, but I’ll try to keep them in mind. Same for all the anime/manga recs. They sound really good and I’ll try to make at least Pluto a priority! (podcasts are unfortunately not really my thing, but I heard of that one and it’s supposed to be good, so, glad you enjoyed it!)

Trigun: Watched it, loved it, almost mentioned it in my previous ask and then decided to just stick to robots with my recommendations. I absolutely adore the kind of run down, in this case almost western sci-fi vibes (early Star Wars has it too…love it when things are a little dirty and a bit gritty) and that’s definitely an aesthetic I’m thinking of bringing to the Secret Snowflake fic ;) 

And speaking of that kind of aesthetic, can’t believe I forgot to mention Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. It’s the novella that Bladerunner is based on (in case you don’t know that already) and I thought it was really interesting? It’s more noir in its grittiness, but the way it considers the humanity of androids (and really any dehumanized group that they basically stand in for) really stuck with me. 

Lastly re EVA and the Kaworu figurine: I feel ya. I really want a build kit for Unit-01, and while I found one that’s only like 40 euros, that’s a reissue and so won’t come out until march. Which is soooo long still >_< Gimme my girl now! …anyway, do you wanna hear about my aftg eva au? Because that’s all I could think of while I was watching the og anime asdfgh

Now let me say that I really REALLY enjoyed watching this movie okay?

I've been a fan of the franchise since its beggining back in 2016. I have never been so moved by a story and its characters as such as this series did as a whole.

In all my life so far, I believe I've never felt this much attached to a character before. Jim Lake Jr. had and always will have a special place in my heart. I related to him in so many ways that it would be impossible for me to do him justice in this single post!

To see the series end breaks my heart but I will always be thankful that it came into my life. As for that, I wish to give my most sincere thanks to the entire team that has been behind the whole franchise, to, of course, its one and only creator and genius, Guillermo del Toro and, to the late Anton Yelchin. May you rest in peace.

That being said, I only need to bring up one particular aspect that kinda left me bitter:

⚠️SPOILER ALERT ⚠️ FOR TROLLHUNTERS: RISE OF THE TITANS

The Avenger Engame-ish ending.

They. all. deserved. a. happy. ending.

Jim. deserved. a. happy ending. IN. HIS. TIMELINE.

I have nothing against time travel okay but the whole idea of KILLING OF TOBY IN ORDER TO GO BACK IN TIME TO THE DAY WHERE HE AND JIM FOUND THE AMULET BUT THIS TIME IT'S TOBY WHO GETS CHOSEN... How is this suppose to fix everything if not to repeat the same story again except this time it's Toby who get the main role and also end up in the same exhausted shape as Jim throughout the movie in the end but anyway i guess?

I mean sure everyone they have lost are alive again and Toby gets to be the hero instead of the "lame emotional support role" I can understand the idea behind this plot but...

It... it just doesn't fit I don't know.

And if i may add something about Jlaire. It's cool that they get a fresh start and all but I dont feel like their relationship will be as powerfull as it was in the original plot.

I mean:

Jim introducing Claire to Trollmarket after their battle in the forest against the goblins

Jim making THE promise to Claire that he would get her brother Enrique back from the Darklands on his own if he had to.

Claire standing by Jim's side, telling him that they will save her brother together right after their Roméo and Juliette play

Jim turning into a half troll. Claire loving and supproting him regardless of this major change, ready to follow him everywhere.

That's what made Jlaire special to me.

All in all, I just feel like the story has been rebooted unecessarly and the whole series plot was pointless in the end.

Again guys, I am not saying that I didn't like the movie! It was still very good!

I just believe it didn't get the proper ending it deserved.
