Selkie!Bucky Art Extravaganza!

The amazing @ghostcwtch drew some FABULOUS art of Selkie!Bucky waaaaaaaay back when I first started writing The Storm Shall Not Wake Thee. In honor of the fic being fully posted today (and with their permission, of course) I wanted to repost this wonderful art so more people get a chance to see it! I'll be embedding it in the fic, but since most of it shows Bucky in Full Seal form it had to wait until the relevant chapter!

Hi, Aim! ❤ I hope you don't mind me asking about two of your WIPS for the game you've got going on, but I couldn't possibly decide if I wanted to hear more about ' MCU - Bishlova MTH' and/or ' TOG - GODDAMMIT ' so I'm hoping that you might indulge me.

I don't mind at all, bb! :D

MCU - Bishlova MTH.docx is currently an empty placeholder with just the numbers for 15,000 words' worth of drabbles written in it, because I know that my @marveltrumpshate winner wants a Bishlova fic and donated enough to get 15,000 words, but they haven't specified any specific plot elements that they want and I don't have any big ideas yet for it. If you've got any ideas for a mid-length Bishlova fic, hit me with them! They want it to be qp (queerplatonic) or BFF fic rather than explicitly romantic or smutty, since in the comics Yelena is specifically aro-ace, but other than that I've been given free reign! And that's hard for me because my ideas are never mid-length lol. They're either "I'M GONNA REWRITE THE ENTIRE MCU" or they're drabble-length lololol.

...Booker/Nile daddykink fic? LISTEN, I BLAME @bebeocho BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE THEY DARED ME TO WRITE IT AND THEN I STARTED AND THEY WERE LIKE "OH NO, NEVER MIND". I don't even remember if that Actually Happened but I know it's how I remember it. Also, my former podcast host really hated how it was coming across and the vibe of it, so I stopped writing it. Also daddykink is KINKTOMATO for me? Severely? But I wanted to take on the Challenge of writing something that I find to be KINKTOMATO and if there's ANY pairing where daddykink makes sense, it's "man with child loss issues/woman with dad loss issues."

"So," Joe says, at the top of his fucking lungs on their next peaceful day, right in the middle of a rinkydink fiber arts & crafts fair, "You call him 'Daddy' now?"

Nile's hands clench around the skein of handspun angora she's holding. Thank God she had to give back the angora bunny a minute before Joe opened his big mouth.

"I will kill you," she says with a deadly calm. "In your sleep tonight, I will murder you."

"You'll have to get past Nicky," Joe says cheerfully. "And it's not like killing me will do you much good."

"I will kill Nicky," Nile says. "Just to get to you."

Joe looks deeply affronted. He holds the angora bunny closer to his chest. "You would never kill Nicky."

James leans in, nuzzling at Clint’s collarbone where the collar of his t-shirt has slipped down a little, and Clint sighs, letting the hand he has on James’ right shoulder trace up, over the warm expanse of shoulder muscle to slide up James’ neck and twine into his hair, tugging gently until James tips his head up to meet Clint’s kiss.

They’re not so much dancing as just swaying together now, lips clinging and hands wandering.  James pulls a little more decisively at the hem of Clint’s t-shirt and Clint draws it off over his head, throwing it aside.  He can feel the fingertips of James’ right hand skimming over the scars on his shoulders and back, but James doesn’t ask.

Clint skirts his palm up under James’ shirt in silent question and James pulls back for a moment.

“It ain’t pretty,” he warns.  And sure, Clint has seen the arm plenty, but maybe this situation is a little different.

“It’s up to you,” Clint says.  He leans in, pressing a kiss to the join of metal and skin through the thin cotton of James’ t-shirt, right where he knows the tangled knot of scarring is worst.  “But there’s no part of you that isn’t beautiful to me.”

James pulls in another breath that only shudders a little, and then he’s pulling his shirt off in one fell swoop, throwing it aside and then ducking his head into Clint’s neck as if he can hide from what he’s done.

Chapter Sixteen!: Ah Weary Wee Flipperling

Chapter Sixteen of my Winterhawk Marvel Trumps Hate 2022 Selkie!Bucky fic is posted!

Excerpt:

It’s hard to concentrate when James is looking at him like that, but Clint tries his best.  “I didn’t have the kind of life that — well, let’s just say that it wasn’t too conducive to stickin’ around.  So, I’ve only felt this way twice before, and only one of those turned into a relationship, and even that didn’t last long.  I guess — I can be a lot, when I feel this way about someone.  Too much, maybe.”    

“Too much what?” James says, voice so gentle the reproof doesn’t even sting.  He lifts Clint’s hand up where their fingers are still tangled together, and presses a warm kiss against Clint’s scarred, knobbly knuckles.  “Too much heart?  Too much affection?”  He shakes his head.  “Whoever told you that was a damned fool.”

Clint swallows thickly.  “I just don’t want to scare you off.”

James hums.  He leans in, slow enough that Clint could back off if he wanted to, but that’s the last thing Clint wants.  He presses into the kiss, lips parting.  It’s short, and sweet, and leaves Clint wanting more, as James pulls back and smiles again.“I don’t scare easy,” he says.  “And I’m not so overstocked on affection as to be turning up my nose at any, sayin’ it’s too much for me.  I like how much you are.  I like everythin’ about the way that you are.”

Both have to save the world from a demon named Red Skull. The question is just - can they do that?

Chrome Plated Heart

It's here! My first-bidder auction winners in the Marvel Trumps Hate 2022 auction graciously allowed me to put their (35k and counting) fic on hold so I could write my second-bidder auction, and here it is -- a Marvel Pacific Rim AU featuring Winterhawk! I've posted the prologue and chapter 1 together, and will be updating one chapter per week until I post the last chapter and epilogue together. Enjoy!

Excerpt:

“Hey.”  Steve nudges Bucky’s shoulder and tilts his head toward the door of the canteen.  “New blood.”

Riley and Sam turn all the way around to look, not in the least bit subtle as the newcomers follow Coulson in and grab trays.

They are an odd match to be drift compatible — the man as tall and broad-shouldered as the woman is small and slender.  Similar in age, so probably siblings or romantic partners.  Or just new recruits from the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, maybe.  There’s not a jaeger in the assembly line anywhere near to done, but having a backup team on hand is never a bad idea with how high the casualty count has been lately.  Fewer minutes on the war clock after every event, and he heard Pietro Maximoff took a hard hit in Scarlet Sentry the other day — enough to put him out of commission for at least a few weeks.

“Interesting,” Steve says.  “They could almost pass for —” He stops, the forkful of macaroni arrested halfway to his mouth.  “Holy geez,” he says reverently.  “That’s —”

“Lucky Striker,” Bucky finishes.  “Sonuvabitch!”

Romanoff and Barton.  They’re legends, the very first team to establish a neural handshake once Stark nearly blew out his heart trying to pilot a jaeger alone and realized it only works with a shared neural and physical load.

They have more kills than any other team out there.  Hong Kong, Vladivostok, Lima — Lucky Striker has held the line at almost every ‘dome on the rim.  Steve and Bucky have pored over the footage of every single one of their kills, marveling at the way their jaeger moves.  Fluid, seamless, graceful.  And most of all, of course, deadly.

“Think they’re just visiting or they’re here to fight?” Steve asks.

“Either way, we’ll probably at least get to see them in the kwoon,” Riley drawls.  “Shee-it, won’t that be sweet?  Whaddaya think they’ll use?  Staffs?  Nunchaku?  Or just hand-to-hand?”

“Whatever it is, it’s gonna be fuckin’ beautiful,” Bucky says.  

He can’t take his eyes off of Barton.  In the recruitment posters and news clips he’s handsome, sure — tall and blond with an easy smile.  In person though, he’s not nearly as polished.  His hair is all mussed up like he just tumbled out of bed, his faded t-shirt has a hole near the collar, and he’s got about four days’ worth of stubble shadowing his jaw.  There are bright purple hearing aids looped behind each ear, a Wonder Woman bandaid across the bridge of his nose, and a scrape along his cheekbone.  Bucky thinks this scuffed up and scruffy version of Barton is about a million times more appealing than the airbrushed PanPac posterboy.

As Bucky watches, Barton reaches out to snag a piece of lemon meringue pie.  He puts his thumb right into it as he tries to fit it onto his already-full tray.

“Aw, pie, no,” Bucky hears him say mournfully over the background hum of conversation.  He balances the overfull tray on one forearm, bicep threatening to split the seams of that threadbare t-shirt, and sticks his thumb in his mouth, sucking off the smudge of lemon and meringue.

Bucky feels his heart stutter as he watches that thumb going into Barton’s lush mouth and coming back out, leaving both it and Barton’s lips pink and wet and shiny.  “Fuckin’ beautiful,” he breathes.
