Just once I would like a Peter stuck in Gotham story where Tony gets dragged along with him for the ride.
Like they drop down and Tony is like
“Not an ideal situation, good news is we’re not dead. Bad news that looked like a one way trip for us. We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Now we should focus on short turn goals: food, water and a place to stay, everything else can wait.”
I want Tony to be out there working his ass off from helping people with broken items then getting a job at wayne enterprises and starting a technology revolution in this dimension because he just can’t stand how out of date everything is and then running to pick up Peter from the rich kid school and the two of them trying to do reconnaissance and failing miserably.
Peter for his part is having a great time with school and his new vigilante gig.
Peter’s vigilante friends in school are worried about how bruised Peter looks sometimes and think that Tony is abusive before breaking in and just hearing Tony being a mother hen.
Then one breakout things are not looking too good and Spider-man just says
“Karen, activate Papa Protocol.”
And then like ten minutes later in comes Ironman with a bone to pick with the rouges.
Bruce doesn’t know if he loves Tony or hates him but his kids find him hilarious.

maybe it’s the underlying trauma or whatever but Tony getting just about any kid in his care/general vicinity and interacting with them immediately turns on the parental part of his brain and i think that’s funny as fuck
is he great at it? no. but he had Harley for like, a day, and basically became the Cool Mechanic Uncle-Guy to the kid. Peter? not even a year after so much as meeting the kid and he’s suddenly trying to “break the cycle” or whatever
#hilarious to me#bro had his whole life being a dickbag and never really growing up even after becoming Iron Man#and suddenly two children drop into his lap and he just goes#‘oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck— well i can’t be like *my* dad. i never want to be like my dad!’#and somehow stumbles into parenthood instead of just being like#the kid’s boss or colleague or something.#he stupided himself into being a dad and i think that’s just lovely for him#tony stark#marvel cinematic universe#iron man#iron dad#harley keener#peter parker

In the whole “what would the Starks do if Jon’s parentage ever came to light” debate, the most interesting figure to me is Robb Stark. Ned is already caught between a rock and a hard place: duty and love to both his king and his sister’s son, though he already committed treason once to save Lyanna’s boy. Catelyn the embodiment of the Tully words, “family, duty, honor”, is fiercely loyal to her husband and children - but not to Jon. So if she was ever put in a position to choose, it’s obvious what she would do. Then there’s Robb. He’s his father’s heir, his mother’s pride. He’s named after Robert Baratheon, the ruling king of the seven kingdoms, as a testament to his father’s upbringing and love for his friend. But Jon is his brother; his best friend; his greatest companion. Where Ned’s choice would leave him conflicted, Robb doesn’t share the same loyalty to the king. So when forced to fight for the crown or his brother’s life, he’d obviously choose his brother. Which would be an interesting twist of fate. Ned and Robert rebelled for their lives many years prior. How interesting it would be for the boy who bears Robert’s name and the boy who bears Ned’s face to rise in rebellion again.
#robert and ned were raised as equals#but jon and robb were not - jon received a lordling’s education and was raised in a castle#but he’s a bastard! he was never robb’s equal in truth and the best he could hope to be is a bannerman to his brother#and robb knew that!#so id like to see how weird the situation would be if robb’s bastard brother turned out to be his king 👀#everyone always talks about what if jon went south to become robb’s advisor#but yall what if it was the other way around- robb winning wars to defend his brother’s claim on the throne#ah love a good what if 😭#asoiaf#jon snow#robb stark#jon and robb the greatest duo to ever duo like!!! they’d put ned and robert to shame and that’s the T#for starters Jon would actually be a competent king andjsnajzbssj#always funny seeing people place robb in other people’s claims for the throne like my friends?!#that boy will fight the whole world for his bro don’t even joke about that

i don’t understand the recent “ned is an enabler of robert” thing. he hasn’t even been in the south for 15 years to enable robert’s bad behavior, that’s jon arryn. “oh the slapping scene” where ned is high off milk of the poppy and feverish from being injured by jaime?? what is he supposed to do in that situation, he’s barely even conscious. none of what people are calling enabling behavior is actually enabling behavior.
#is ned delusional about robert? yeah but he’s not an enabler. he doesn’t cover up for ribert’s mistakes.#he literally isn’t even aware they’re happening bc he *hasnt been in the south*#the whole book is him slowly becoming aware robert was not the man he thought he was and fighting it tooth and nail.#stupid behavior? yeah. but again. not enabling. he explicitly wants robert to be better so he can go home!!!#getting on my soap box#ned stark

From what little of Lyanna that is flushed out in the books I must say, I do enjoy her as a wild and unflinchingly herself noble with little to no regard as to how other people perceive her. What I do not like however is the fandom characterization of her as a wilting flower that needed Rhaegar to steal her away from her big brute of a betrothed Robert.
We know she had a sensitive side to her due to her crying after Rhaegars performance, but we also know that she was a principled young woman with how she saw injustice being done to her fathers banner man and decided to take matters into her her own hands to distribute justice on those squires.
I cannot imagine a girl who was disgusted with Robert’s whoremongering ways would be happy to be the other woman to Elias marriage. This is why I don’t buy into her running away with Rhaegar if he promised to marry her and annual his marriage with Elia. A girl who didn’t want to marry Robert because he was a manwhore in every sense of the word would not have resigned herself to a mistress position. She was principled but wild and young but still principled.
This is why I don’t buy into the fandom characterization of Lyanna being happy to ruin a marriage because she loved Rhaegar. The most plausible scenario, for me, is that Rhaegar promised her freedom in the south to either become a knight, or joining the royal household which would delay her marriage. She was 15 but I don’t think she was stupid enough to believe that she would’ve been happy if Rhaegar set aside his kids with Elia to marry her. The whole ‘Lyanna and Rhaegar were in love!!! She was totally happy in the tower of joy!!!!’ Even if they were in love at the beginning and she did agree to run away with Rhaegar to start a new life, do you think she’d still be happy when news came that her brother and father were killed by her new father in law? Do you think she would’ve been happy being a prisoner in a tower in Dorne when all she wanted was to be free and wild?
If there were any love in Lyanna for Rhaegar, I think it would’ve disappeared the moment he locked her in a tower and the moment news came that her eldest brother and father was dead because of her. If Rhaegar even told her that they were dead.
#anti rhaelya#lyanna stark#anti rhaegar x lyanna#anti rhaegar targaryen#ASOIAF#I truly think that if Lyanna was so disgusted with Robert’s bastards and infidelity why would she become the other women to Rhaegar#why would she encourage infidelity when the whole reason she didn’t want to marry Robert was because he was a manwhore?

In the show, Rhaenys’ reaction to Corlys’ affair was very muted. That’s likely a result of her show personality being quite different from her book version. Therefore, I imagine that book!Rhaenys would behave very differently to the news of her husband’s affair. Fire and Blood stated that Corlys took care to keep the affair secret in order to avoid Rhaenys’ wrath:
Princess Rhaenys, his wife, had the fiery temperament of many Targaryens, Mushroom says, and would not have taken kindly to her lord husband fathering bastards on a girl half her age, and a shipwright’s daughter besides. Therefore his lordship had prudently ended his “shipyard trysts” with Mouse after Alyn’s birth, commanding her to keep her boys far from court. Only after the death of Princess Rhaenys did Lord Corlys at last feel able to bring his bastards safely forward.
In many instances of cheating that happen throughout the books, the reaction of the wives to their husbands’ affairs is dependent on the wives’ personalities.
Helaena express irritated resignation when referencing Aegon being with his mistress. Helaena is a gentle and sweet natured person who doesn’t typically raise a fuss about anything.
Baela argues with Alyn when she suspects him of having an affair. The mistress in question is a ruling princess so there’s nothing Baela can do to her. She can only express her anger towards her husband. Baela is known for having a bold and fiery personality.
Rhaenyra is furious at the possibility of Daemon cheating on her and potentially impregnating his mistress, a lowborn girl. Her response is to order the execution of her husband’s mistress. Rhaenyra is shown to be a very proud woman who is quick to anger.
Catelyn is bothered by the affection she believes Ned holds for the mother of his bastard son. She makes many attempts to have the bastard child sent away. As much as she loves Ned, she can never forgive him for keeping his bastard son at Winterfell, because he is a reminder of her husband’s affair. Catelyn is a very dutiful wife but also exhibits wilful behaviour at times.
Cersei resents Robert for many reasons, which includes his tendency to always cheat on her. She has previously killed her husband’s mistresses and the bastard children he fathered on them. On one occasion, she even sold Robert’s mistress to a passing slaver because the affair occurred too close to home, at Casterly Rock. Cersei goes the extra mile by also carrying on her own affairs behind her husband’s back. She is cruel and wilful, with many of her actions motivated by her wounded pride.
Rhaenys is described as being spirited, proud and fierce. She is also known to have a fiery temperament.
I do not think Rhaenys would go straight to kill mode. Though her reaction would certainly depend on the manner of how she learns Corlys cheated on her. It’s said that Addam and Alyn have Laenor’s likeness so that might affect Rhaenys’ behaviour. Rhaenys does have a very ‘fire & blood’ mentality, but she might not be so willing to kill children, especially those that look like her own son. Marilda is the other woman, so she doesn’t have any such protection from Rhaenys.
For highborn women like Rhaenyra and Cersei, they primarily express their discontent by taking their anger out on the (lowborn) mistress/bastards because they have no recourse in addressing their highborn royal husbands. As a princess, Rhaenys occupies a higher social status than Corlys. She would definitely quarrel with him, just as Baela was said to do with Alyn. But at the end of the day, Corlys is still a man in a patriarchal society that says cheating is okay:
Many men fathered bastards. Catelyn had grown up with that knowledge. It came as no surprise to her, in the first year of her marriage, to learn that Ned had fathered a child on some girl chance met on campaign. He had a man’s needs, after all, and they had spent that year apart, Ned off at war in the south while she remained safe in her father’s castle at Riverrun. Her thoughts were more of Robb, the infant at her breast, than of the husband she scarcely knew. He was welcome to whatever solace he might find between battles.
So Rhaenys would ultimately have to redirect her anger elsewhere. One of the core themes of the story is that it is the smallfolk that suffer in the conflict between the highborn. During times of war, the highborn target the smallfolk on each other’s lands as a way to get back at each other.
Rhaenys could possibly order Marilda’s death, but might spare the children since they are just children. Though she would not allow them to remain on Driftmark. If Rhaenys’ own children are dead at the time she learns of the affair, she would be even less willing. If she did decide to spare Marilda, then Rhaenys would still want her gone. I think she would be very insistent on having Corlys’ mistress and bastards exiled (on pain of death, as is often the case). They can go elsewhere in Westeros or across the sea to Essos. But I do not see a scenario in which Rhaenys would be comfortable with their presence on Driftmark. As a Targaryen princess and the Lady of Driftmark, it would be considered an affront to her pride to let her husband’s mistress and bastards continue living in the place that is also her home.

@cdragons & i were having some thoughts about secondincommand!reader.. specifically how she’d react to robb breaking his oath with the freys. believe it or not, they’re in love with each other. i don’t make the rules (yes i do)
tags — (@ghostinvenus)
secondincommand!reader who is the glue that holds the war camp together & keeps it running smoothly
secondincommand!reader who isn’t the strongest person out there, but don’t let that fool you. you’re often seen dragging 6’0+, 200lb northmen by the ear — giving them a scolding that would make tywin lannister look like a kitten
most problems are laid at your feet, not that robb doesn’t do anything, but the chain of command makes them be brought to you first. you have a knack for fixing things, and sarcasm runs through your veins where blood should be. you has nothing, if not the audacity
tough as nails, and fears only the gods, all the northmen call you doe. they say you’re the long lost daughter of stannis baratheon, stubborn as a mule, you’ll break before you bend.
so one can imagine how happy you are when you find out the king in the north broke his oath and married a nurse.
you give robb the absolute cold shoulder when you hear the rumors are true. robb and talisa stroll through the camp on their horses, and when you see them, you just stand there. theon glances at your stiffness, before you turn around and just walk away.
ʚ ͜ ̩͙ ︵ ̩͙ ୨ ♡ ୧ ̩͙ ︵ ̩͙ ͜ ɞ
robb thought he was going crazy.
you had always been said to hold the camp & northmen together, and now, with you not on his side — he’s finding out how true that really is.
you haven’t spoken to him since he left & returned with talisa, abandoning his oath with the freys. if he asked you a question during a meeting, you’d answer the lord closest to you, as if he had asked you that, instead of robb. you had even resorted to speaking to him through theon, who found it hilarious.
“C’mon, Doe- you have to speak to me sooner or later.”
he’s this close to begging at this point. you merely turn to theon.
“Theon, do you hear that? It sounds like.. it sounds like a fucking idiot.”
theon nods. “Been a lot of those lately. Think it’s seasonal.”
robb runs his hands down his face as they both walk out, and eventually he confides in talisa about it. after all, she is his wife. she approaches you after a meeting, while you’re gathering her things to leave.
“I’m sorry if you’re unhappy with me, I’m only trying to do my best.”
you don’t miss a beat. “You’ve only put all our lives in jeopardy and half-way ensured we lose the war. Why should I be unhappy with you?”
she’s surprised by your boldness. talisa swallows thickly. “Feel how you will about me, Robb is your king. You should speak with him soon.”
you turn around, looking at her, brows pinched in faux empathy.
“I’m sorry- I don’t speak with southerners. Gives me the chills.”
“I’ve been in the North for many moons.”
“How interesting.” you finish gathering your stuff, walking out of the tent with lord karstark trailing beside you. he leans over to rub your shoulders.
“I can feel ya’ shiverin, child.” you both laugh, walking on.
ʚ ͜ ̩͙ ︵ ̩͙ ୨ ♡ ୧ ̩͙ ︵ ̩͙ ͜ ɞ
your silence was eventually replaced by nonsense, and robb considered letting the lannisters march in here and put him out of his misery.
you had taken to speaking the language of old valyria, for all robb could guess. and the men around him could be none the wiser, theon included.
“Karstark, you’ll lead the vanguard. And Doe, you’ll command the archers.”
“Mememememeh..” you said, rolling your eyes. theon nodded.
“Agreed.”
he thought someone would stop you eventually, but no, he failed to recognize these men adored you. their little doe, a spitfire who could demand their lives & they’d fall on their swords.
“Stew good, Doe?” he asked, walking by the campfire you sat at.
“Ehmemememeh..” you said, shaking your head. the men sat around you only nodded, murmurs of agreement to each other spilling from their lips.
and when you did start talking to robb again (in the common tongue), he almost wished for the silence to return. no he didn’t.
“Glad you’ve started speaking with me again.”
“Tell me, how much speaking will we be doing if Walder Frey decides to behead us?”
he opens his mouth to speak, but you raise a hand.
“If I die because His Grace, King Robb, saw a bit of arse & his cock forgot the oath he swore, I am going to kill you.”
he thought the northern lords were going to burst a blood vessel with how hard they tried to hold in their laughter. in the end, their efforts did not prevail.

Why do you think the tides have slightly turned from "Elia deserves better than Rhaegar" to shipping her and Rhaegar together? Like what is the psychology behind these people because I've seen some of them like/reblog anti Rhaegar posts while also shipping Rhaegar x Elia at the same time.
hey anon! my thoughts are a bit messy, but i’ve done my best to explain them coherently :)
so, rhaegar was the best man anyone could have when elia was alive, and most people want the best for their favs. he was considered the most handsome, didn’t have a bad personality, and he was crown prince—meaning elia was almost queen, which is often seen as the greatest role a woman can have. the narrative also treats rhaegar as a beautiful, tragic, haunting figure, and elia actually had this very aesthetically pleasing man all to herself at one point! she was married to him, had children with him, and her life was so close to perfect! but rhaegar just had to go and ruin it. 😠
for many elia stans, if rhaegar hadn’t fallen in love with another woman (they want him to have been a completely different character), then everything would’ve been perfect, and elia would’ve had the best, most desirable life. however, that’s not what happened—elia met a very tragic end, and as a result, these stans feel double the bitterness. because of this bitterness, they blame rhaegar for everything (even though it’s not logical to do so), but he’s just too ‘perfect’ to let go of. so, for years these stans have made rhaegar revolve around elia, filling his tag with posts about her out of bitterness. so, i do believe that this obsession with rhaegar x elia has always been there, but i think it’s become a more favorable stance on the elia stan side of the fandom because of a mix of reasons.
plus, rhaegar is one of the few canon relationships we know elia had, since she’s not much of a character. because of this, and the fact that most people don’t like to stray too far from canon, most elia stans are forced to focus on rhaegar, which has created an echo chamber. basically, if a sentiment about elia and rhaegar’s relationship becomes popular, then the whole elia stan side of the fandom will likely regurgitate the sentiment. (also, this desire to stick close to canon is likely why the elia x arthur ship was so popular. while it’s a total crack ship, it had good aesthetics, and since elia and arthur at least knew each other, it allowed the stans to create their perfect fanfiction whilst sticking it to rhaegar. but remember, elia was actually married to rhaegar and had children with him, so while arthur is cool, rhaegar was always ‘top dog,’ meaning arthur would never be able to match up to rhaegar to most elia stans. also, the arthur x elia crack ship is likely her second most popular ship, which just shows how little elia stans have to work with, so they’re always forced to eventually return back to rhaegar for a lot of things.)
however, even if the elia x rhaegar ship gains more popularity, these stans will never stop hating rhaegar because he wasn’t ‘perfect’—and he wasn’t perfect because he didn’t love elia. plus, rhaegar loving another woman and supposedly kidnapping her is what began the war that led to elia’s tragic death. that’s bitterness times 1000. and while i don’t actually blame rhaegar for the war, i do think that this is how an elia stan sees it. i also don’t view rhaegar’s complex relationship with elia as a bad thing—it’s actually a very realistic take on an arranged marriage between two decent people. but most elia stans will never be able to get over the fact that they almost had everything, which is why many have it out for lyanna, as they consider her a thief who ruined their ‘perfection.’
tbh, that might be why so many elia stans are so obsessed with the idea that rhaegar only got with lyanna because of the prophecy—they don’t want to believe that rhaegar actually loved a different woman and not their perfect self insert elia. that’s a bit mean of me… but i don’t know what else one would call the ‘elia’ elia stans have created.
now that i’ve laid all those thoughts out, i’ll try to explain why the tides seem to be turning… i think it may have something to do with the ‘targaryens are all evil and bad’ sentiment losing popularity. i think this shift has occurred due to a mix of factors, such as years of fandom fights and fandom cycles leading to the targs being more liked now than before. it helps that canon doesn’t actually condemn the targs/favors them quite a bit, and the influx of new targ fans from HOTD has also contributed. this combination of reasons seems to have shifted the way the mainstream fandom discusses all the targaryen characters, including rhaegar. so, with this shift, it’s only natural that some elia stans/elia x rhaegar shippers—who’ve always been there—are using this opportunity to push their agenda. while these stans still hate rhaegar and see him as the bad guy, they just can’t let go of him. and as the mainstream fandom moves away from the anti targaryen sentiment, these smaller corners of the fandom, which tend to be echo chambers, are also affected, which has therefore led to a rise in rhaegar x elia shippers and the ‘shifting tide’ that you’ve also noticed.
#‘if only rhaegar did this’ is a very common sentiment amongst elia stans#most stans have always had the ‘if only’ mindset#‘if only elia survived’ easily leads to ‘if only rhaegar didn’t run off with his whore’ as the targs become less hated#it’s kinda a pipeline? rhaegar anti plus elia stan leads to rhaegar x elia shipper who still hates rhaegar#another reason that a lot of this happens is because elia and the martells plus dorne are the good ‘others’ a person can like#while the targaryens are the ‘bad others’ one can safely hate as they’re white & have a bit of demon symbolism + come from an ‘evil’ empire#the targs also ruled over everyone so a lot of fans like pushing all the blame onto them for all the problems#however the targs are cool and they’re hot af and being royalty is the best! so they’re the ‘bad others’ one can safely hate#but people still want their aesthetic and want their favs to have what the targs had. all the cool magic + the aesthetic + danys monikers#so people can convince themselves that it’s okay and logical and right to hate the targs but most ppl will still connect their favs to them#of course… things have been shifting in the fandom which i’m very happy about#and all of these sentiments are combined and compressed when it comes to rhaegar and elias relationship#so any big shift on how the fandom views the targs will always affect the way rhaegar and elias relationship is viewed#it just so happens that the targs aren’t the evil dragon nazis anymore so it’s kinda okay for elia stans to ship him with her#i’m not gonna go through my tags and make sure they make sense so i’m simply hoping for the best#anyways… i hope i didn’t digress too much. i just found this shift so interesting so i couldn’t help myself#asoiaf fandom critical#anti elia stans#rhaegar targaryen#anti rhaegar x elia#house targaryen#valyrianscrolls#pro rhaelya#lyanna stark#rhaegar x lyanna#anon ask#thanks anon this was a fun topic to cover#i recently found a really old post about both elia and lyanna and boy… it was quite discusting to read#elia stans kinda cycle from ‘elia deserved better x crack ship with shallow aesthetic’ back to elia x rhaegar while shitting on rhaelya#just know that rhaegar is always the bad guy to them! the sentiment on lyanna will go from hot to cold but rhaelya is always bad as well!
