I wonder if what Agrippa says here in Domina (2021-2023) –"I should have been a Gladiator!"– is a reference and callback to...

Ben Batt's role as Spartacus in "Barbarians rising" (2016).

Either way, it's funny. 🤣 What's not that funny is that Agrippa seems to take lightly the life of a warrior slave? But oh well...

Is the Barbarians fandom still lurking on here? How about my Tom Hopper fans?? If so, boy have I got the treat for you!
I released my debut novel last month!
THE WOLF QUEEN
Tumblr media
Germania Magna, 8 CE
Thusnelda, princess and warrior of the Cherusci, chafes under the Roman occupation of her ancestral Germanic lands. High taxes, subjugation, and barbaric punishments have cowered too many of her people.  Thusnelda will now defy her supposed Roman masters. When her long lost childhood love, Arminius, returns in a legionary uniform at the right hand of the Roman territorial governor, Thusnelda is disgusted by his betrayal. But beneath his polished Roman facade lies the soul of a warrior who never forgot his homeland. Together Thusnelda and Arminius light the spark of rebellion. Not everyone wants to see Rome ousted, though, and their biggest opponent may have the power to stop the rebellion before it starts. Thusnelda's father. Betrothed to the prince of another tribe, Thusnelda must resist Arminius' advances as she struggles to choose the cause of her people over the desires of her heart. If she makes the wrong choice, they risk having no army at all when they face off against three legions in the infamous, audacious Battle of the Teutoburg Forest.

Ok, time for incoherent ramblings.
Since AR 14 I've been thinking alot about Alux's parents. More in the sense of, what the fuck is going on with Alux's mom
The circumstances of Alux's mother's death are extremely suspicious.
She was
Murdered
It was IN FRONT OF ALUX
It seemed like it was an ambush of some kind.
There seems to be no clear reason
Why she died is ambiguous. Was it a planned attack? Or did Alux and his mother get tangled in the crossfire of a battle that didn't originally involve them?
If it was planned, why only go for Alux's mom????? Did they kill his mom, and then not realize he was just standing there??????
Or maybe during the attack Alux hid? And the following shots of his dead mom we see from his perspective is the aftermath of everything, and it had died down?
If this attack was purely meant for his mom, why?
If the QUEEN OF COZEN had DIED, what would the other kingdoms say?
What the hell did Hamatria say??????
Could the queen's death be, if not THE, then one of the inciting incidents that lead to the rising tensions between Hamatria and Cozen?
Mind you, all of this shit would have been like, 15 years ago. Maybe 20 if Alux is a bit older. So like. Wtf was going in back then.
Now, there is one thing. And it's that, how do magic users come to be? Is it genetic? Or can it be manually learned? With Alux, it may be genetic. (Mother fucker took one sip of pink and then BUSTed green crystals all over the place, he did NOT learn that manually) And if so, it would be from his mom. (Elric fucking died by a stab wound and Alux seems to have super healing abilities. Either Elric is not a magic user, or he is not the father.)
Either way, it seemed like Alux's mom had the Magic Gene™️
in a kingdom that's racist to Magic users.
Maybe Elric didn't hate magic users as much as Alux would put it.
Maybe he was just weary of Alux discovering his magic abilities in a kingdom that would probably lynch you if you were a magic user.
Maybe Elric didn't really like Petro, not because he was gay- *cough* sorry, a magic user, but that he was teaching his son about magic when his son has magical powers.
Not gonna lie, if I had lost my wife for being a magic user, and now my son was most likely one, and he was set to become king of a kingdom that *has the reputation of not liking magic users* when I died, I would be scared shitless for him.
That actually brings me to a question, did Elric start this whole “Magic user bad” thing in Cozen, or was it already within its culture and he just had to abide by it so he wouldn't get overthrown? Eh. Either way,
Whether or not it was a consequence of Elrics actions, Alux would definitely not have been prepared for being king, (That's kind why he's going on this self discovery adventure) so like…
Maybe… At least we have a motive for Elric's action of keeping Alux sheltered and inside the Castel? Granted, if Elric started the whole Magic racism thing then it's his own fault his son is not ready, but 🤷
That actually brings me to this.
Did Elric ever feel guilt for not being there for his family when they were in danger? Did he ever feel empathy for Alux or regret in his decision to keep him inside? Did he feel shame for not taking better care of his son? Did he sometimes feel like he did everything wrong but can't go back?
Did he ever feel alone after his wife died?
I'm actually kind of sad that Elric died so early on. A Lot could have been done with him. But maybe we'll see that in flashbacks. But that does leave room for speculation that could *in canon* be left up to the viewer to interpret so :DDDDDDDDDDDD I'm gonna rewrite Elric!1!!1!! Or maybe, add onto his character that wouldn't be shown within the series. Yippee🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

SPOILERS BELOW FOR RISE OF HELLFIRE
I spoilered myself with the whole Rise of Hellfire comic, and because I’m fucking delusional, decided to ship Eddie’s DnD OC with my DnD OC.
I am also hella obsessed with the instrumental version of Muzan’s Infinity Castle, as well as Zenitsu’s little moves when he grabs his sword and locks in. That scene basically inspired this whole idea of them falling together.
So I’m thinking Eddie’s half orc barbarian Relgar would make a great husband for Allie’s half elf illusionist wizard Indil (who also happens to be my dark urge in Baldur’s Gate 3). This is a little scene I’ve had in my mind for a hot minute about them during a campaign, so far just a messy ass work in progress.
I’ll most certainly post the completed picture at another point in time. For now, enjoy some DnD art.

The barbarian drinking at the bar seems pretty Goth... as in, Visigoth. He also won't stop asking the bard to play black metal, but that seems unrelated.
Like the art? It (and the dragon that comes with it) will be up for sale soon at the Carrefour Inn!

Bull Moon Rising by Ruby Dixon
This book comes from the author of Ice Planet Barbarians. Aside from being recommended to read this book, the bright colors of this book caught my attention. I don’t have many books with this color palette, so it’s nice to add it to my bookcase.
Aesthetically, I like this book.
The dust jacket features blue foil along the outlines of the characters. The title and author letters are blue foil with some shimmering flecks that proved to be challenging to capture on camera. Removing the dust jacket shows a pink hardcover freckled with blue foil stars. The spine detail is a great choice in my opinion. It’s a shift from the spines that normally have some type of color foiled lettering. However, it is just a color foiled copy of what is on the dust jacket.
As far as I am aware, this is the standard hardcover edition that is available in most places where books are sold.
A comment on the inside: I am not a fan of how the chapters flow into one another. It is a seamlessly flow style that means sometimes the ending of one chapter will be on the same page as the next chapter. I shared a picture of the chapter 2 title almost midway on the page. The above blocked out text is from chapter 1. There are some cases where chapters align at the top of a fresh page.
Note: I am not paid for any advertisement, I am simply sharing what books look like without their dust jackets.

Gnarly Hunter Fellow meets Big Buff Hunter Lady from another realm WIP (MHR) Planning to color this later...
So today I finally started playing Monster Hunter Rise AND IM LOVING IT! Been having so much fun with the dual blades in this one! (cant wait to make my other 2 hunters as well at some point) You have no idea how much will I had to muster to stop playing so I can start sketching this dumb thing up XD I feel like my Hunter Beth would really vibe with goofy ass Master Utsushi, so I felt like sketching this XD
Tbh Im only bummed out that Beth's look is gated to the Endgame of Sunbreak since both the buff body and the seething Bagel armor are at those higher MRs, but oh well, I'll get there, in my art Ill already draw her with the look XD

NOTES on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)
I saw Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (should really be “Kingdom of the Apes” but whatever) and I surprisingly liked it a lot. I also found a lot of reviews of the film missing the mark of the film. So I’m going to explore it a bit here. SPOILERS. So about Planet of the Apes… Short answer, I’ve never been a fan of the franchise and the reason has everything to do with prejudice. I just don’t…

films i've watched in january 2025
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'm going to do a monthly "films i've watched" post this year! i did not manage to watch one movie a day, but i hope my summer break will allow me to catch up with some highlights i've missed over the years. for completion purposes, rewatches will be included in this list :)
i'm using the letterboxd 5 stars rating system here
letterboxd
Nosferatu (2024) – dir. Robert Eggers (4.5 stars) (watched twice)
You can so easily draw me in with a gothic aesthetic and vampires, so of course, I was hyped for this movie. It lived up to almost all the expectations I had and blew me away with its wonderful cinematography and great performances. Bill Skarsgård is rocking his role as Orlok and the make-up is sooo well done. I thought the movie dragged on a little towards the end, so I couldn't give it five stars, but it was just such a joy to start the year with.
BlacKkKlansman (2018) – dir. Spike Lee (4 stars)
This movie has been sitting on my watchlist for years and I finally got to it. Such a terrifying yet somehow fascinating watch at times.
The Killer (2023) – dir. David Fincher (3.5 stars)
I have no idea if this is a controversial opinion, but I didn't enjoy it as much as others did. I didn't vibe with the pacing at all, but the cinematography and camera work was amazing. As was the soundtrack!!
Se7en (1995) – dir. David Fincher (4.5 stars)
Another Fincher movie on this list. I had never watched this one, but my local cinema was offering a screening of it, so I went there with some friends and I loved it! I think Zodiac still remains my favourite Fincher movie, but this one is phenomenal too. What's in the box?
Barbarian (2022) – dir. Zach Cregger (4 stars)
It's probably better if I don't say too much about this movie beforehand, but at no point was it what I expected. Just watch and enjoy. Side note: Bill Skarsgård is so hot.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) – dir. J.J. Abrams (3 stars) (REWATCH)
I'm a huge Star Wars nerd. No surprise to anyone. To be honest, I am not a huge hater of the Sequel trilogy as some people are, but I still believe the Force Awakens is pretty mid, but enjoyable. Almost a carbon copy of what A New Hope was, but I do not have any strong feelings towards it. HOWEVER, it is the base for one of my favourite Star Wars movies...
Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) – dir. Rian Johnson (4.5 stars) (REWATCH)
Ohh, The Last Jedi how much I love you. I will die on this hill, but it is not a bad movie and no, it isn't a bad Star Wars movie either. From the cinematography, to the daring decisions, to the acting (especially from Adam Driver and Mark Hamill), this movie rocks. It's embodying so much love for the franchise and yet dares to take it down a different road for once. I really hope Rian Johnson gets to make his trilogy of Star Wars movies.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) – dir. Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan (4 stars)
Somehow I am still in the minority with my 4 stars rating, but I did not like certain parts of the movie or rather characters in it. However, I pretty much started bawling every time Ke Huy Quan delivered his lines to Evelyn and their relationship was just so well done. One ride of a movie, to be sure.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) – dir. J. J. Abrams (1.5 stars) (REWATCH)
I just hate this movie. I would have loved a Ben Solo redemption arc, but not this way. Also, I love Reylo, but not even their kiss can make up for this mess of a movie.
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special (2022) – dir. James Gunn (3 stars)
Such a cozy movie. A comfort for me but nowhere close to the main ones.
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) – dir. Steven Spielberg (5 stars)
I only watched this movie as a child, so I didn't remember a lot of it. Decided to "rewatch" the Indiana Jones movies and this is definitely a classic. So much fun, Harrison Ford is lovely (and hot) and I just wish they would make movies like this again.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 (2017) – dir. James Gunn (4 stars) (REWATCH)
While I still love this movie with all my heart (and especially some of the characters in it), I didn't enjoy it as much as I did when I first watched it. The Guardians are just amazing, but I think the plot went a little all over the place. But it's still one of the most charming superhero movies ever made, no doubt.
My Neighbour Totoro (1988) – dir. Hayao Miyazaki (5 stars)
Another classic I watched as a child and couldn't remember, so I had to watch it again. I ended up using this movie as my new homescreen theme on my phone and I love it!! Cozy, funny and heartwarming movie that managed to make me cry even though nothing bad really happened in it.
I want a Totoro for myself.
Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) – dir. Barry Jenkinks (1.5 stars)
I am probably not the target audience of this movie. I'm above twenty, I never connected with the Lion King movie as a child and I haven't watched any of the other movies since I last saw them as a kid. However, this still didn't manage to capture my attention at all and I can only give a few stars for the effort of the animation. Which still looked a little strange sometimes. Also, the german voices were awful.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) – dir. Gareth Edwards (5 stars) (REWATCH)
My favourite movie. Nothing more to say about this.
The Last Duel (2021) – dir. Ridley Scott (4 stars)
In a way, this movie was part of my personal challenge to watch all of Adam Driver's movies (I love him) and this one had been on my watchlist for a while. I loved the structure of this and the acting was phenomenal by everyone. I definitely wish we had more medieval dramas like this.
