Now I’m picturing Proximus eating sushi at his nightly feast!

More thoughts on the coastal apes!

- Jellyfish sometimes wash up on the beach and stingrays hangout in shallow parts of the ocean (also near the beach). They usually aren’t dangerous (they sure hurt a lot when they sting you) but if stingrays sting you in the chest or something like that, it can be fatal.

So basically, what does Proximus and his apes do whenever someone gets stung by a stingray or jellyfish? I doubt they have much options but surely they have some medicine for stings.

- It’s highly unlikely any of the apes would venture out into the ocean (unless to fish like I mentioned in my last post on this) but what would the apes do if a shark attacked them?

- Or whenever other sea life washes up on the beach? Maybe they use them for food or other stuff?

In War, 2 year old Cornelius still isn’t speaking; he only signs. And actually the only thing we see him sign is him calling out “father” when he sees Caesar get captured. However we have to consider that very few apes talked in the Caesar trilogy. Most of the apes we see are modern day apes gives drugs to make them smarter, and their first generation of children. They still have the physical abilities of regular apes that should make speaking very difficult, if not impossible. So most do not speak; only Caesar, Koba, Blue Eyes, Maurice, and Bad Ape do any significant amount of talking out loud.

I would imagine by Kingdom’s time, 300 years and several generations in the future, speaking is more common place. They’ve had time for slight physical adjustments through evolution to make speaking easier. Everyone we see in Kingdom can speak, but perhaps signing is starting to fall off. I can’t think of any of Proximus’ apes signing, which would make sense when Proximus learning more about humans has made him more human.

But about actual ape babies, I would imagine most learn sign first, just like human babies can do. I love the idea of secret signs between siblings and best friends. Imagine the Sunset Trio having their own language since they grew up together.

I wonder what age baby apes would begin to talk. With humans it's usually around a year or so when we start saying our first words. But all great apes have different stages of development (in regards to growth, weaning etc) so I wonder if different baby apes would develop talking at different stages? (Baby humans can start to learn sign before they talk, so it's likely baby apes would too!)

It would also be interesting to think about ape behaviours and how this might influence language! Would more naturally social apes (such as bonobos, chimps and gorillas) develop language quicker than perhaps orangutans?

I wonder if child apes (especially siblings and twins) would create their own secret languages and signs like human children do?
