I kind of want to create a character explicitly for romancing Minthara. No thoughts but what would be best for a Minthara romance.
#baldur’s gate 3#i was going to romance her as my most evil character but now i want a good redemption arc#someone down to earth and open minded#SHOULD I JUST RECREATE MOONSHINE CYBIN#moonshine would absolutely be hot for minthara#minthara is mildly horrified that she’s falling for this dirty mushroom woman with a possum in her overall bib#also that gives me an excuse to play the druid/barbarian multiclass ive been wanting to try

Ripsnarl
Actually my second lizardfolk named Ripsnarl as a concept, but the first to see the light of day. This is the most recent game I joined, and the last of the fully formed “used” character concepts. There’s a few others after this that either turned out to be poorly formed ideas I used for one-shots, or ones that despite being used never really went beyond their concept. Ripsnarl - Barbarian (Level 1), Oath of Redemption Paladin (Level 3) Outlander - Lizardfolk - Chaotic Neutral
Backstory Used: When he was young he had been an energetic child with a fierce temper. More than a few fights had started because his mood turned foul, yet he was rarely told off for it because he always won. As he grew older instead of being admonished for his fury, he was praised for his passion and strength, for persistence and ferocity that saw him the victor of many bouts. He quickly grew prideful, not so much harnessing his rage as allowing it to control him. When the time of his trial drew near, he began boasting, claiming to all who would listen how he'd single handedly take down a Mishipishu. On the day of the trial, dripping with bravado he sauntered into the jungle…and got a great deal more than he bargained for. He would return later battered, bleeding, and with little more than a Brahmin to show for it. For all his boasting he had not been up to the task, as several among the tribe would remind him over the years. Did he look inward and reflect on his pride? Of course not. Instead he grew bitter and angry at those whom reminded him of his failure. Some years later, another Kitarsh made the same claims as he had. Not boastfully however, and worse yet they seemed likely to succeed. His pride couldn't take that. If another succeeded where he had failed, truly he'd never hear the end of it!...but what if they didn't? If he wasn't alone in his failure, surely that would shut them up. So it was he devised a plan, and when the day of the Kitarsh's trial came, he sabotaged them. He'd expected the child to return as he had. Instead they didn't return at all. They died, because of him. His rage and pride had caused him to end a life in a manner both cowardly and dishonourable. Guilt ate away at him for months. Until one day he overheard Salphas speaking to the children, telling them tales of the empire and answering their questions. This was how he first learned of knights, of the warriors clad in metal armor, travelling the land righting wrongs. His understanding at this time was the same as the children, thus he saw the sort of deeds that could let him make amends for the death he'd caused. Venturing into the jungle he hunted for three days, gathering pelts, fashioning bones into trinkets, all so he could trade them at the nearest Empire village. With some difficulty he obtained a set of chainmail armor, like the knights wore, and an axe with a dark curved head. It wasn't till some time later he found out it was a woodcutters axe. From then on, like a child playing pretend he went about the village and jungle making a right ass of himself. Whenever his actions were questioned he grew angry, simply believing they didn't understand. It was he who didn't understand. That became abundantly clear when he met a real knight…a Paladin. He'd been making a fool of himself "saving" some of his people from a hunt gone wrong when she arrived. He never caught her name, all he knew was that she was a guard for a caravan bound for the village. She'd stepped in to help, and gave him a right earful afterwards about the dignity of a knight, and how he was making a mockery of it. Metal armor didn't make him a knight. It didn't make him virtuous , nor erase the sins of the past. He didn't simply need to make amends, but redeem himself in the eyes of his people, and most of all his own. It was after this he would learn of Sang Ferro, a knight usually depicted in full armor, but known to cast it aside and sacrifice the self for the sake of others. In time he would see the first steps of the path he must walk, and swear his oath to the knight stripped bare. Recently he overheard the Chieftain speaking to a party of outsiders. They delivered warning that the Blessed Beast was on a rampage, and their intent to fight it. This was a chance to aid those who had helped his people, and indeed help the tribe itself. Not because it would show his strength, but because it was the right thing to do. Backstory Abridged: Short temper since childhood. The sort of kid that snaps easily and starts fights. Was however praised for it because he won those fights, and continued to be praised for it as he grew, his rage being seen as a positive rather than a negative. Didn't so much harness his rage as he let it control him. Became prideful, boastful. Before his trial he boasted about exactly what he was going to fight (something strong and very much ill advised). Instead he got his ass kicked, didn't return empty handed (grabbed something more "normal") and thus returned battered and with very little to show for it. Likely wasn't publicly ridiculed, but likely one or two individuals would bring it up now and again jokingly or against him. Got mad, but rather than at himself chose to blame and get mad at others for not letting his failure go. Some time later, probably years, another made the same claim about what they'd defeat, but not boastfully, and worse yet they seemed like they could actually do it. His pride couldn't take it, and so he devised a plan. He sabotaged the youth to make sure they'd fail, expecting them to returned battered with nothing to show for it as he had. They died, because of him. His rage and pride had caused him to end a life in a manner both cowardly and dishonourable. At some point he heard about the Knights/Paladins from Salphas or another trader, and understood it as a child understands the world around him. The concept foreign, he merely thought of them as "warriors oh honor in metal armor who right wrongs". Clearly this would let him make amends for his actions. He hunted, gathered pelts and fashioned bones into trinkets. Travelled far afield to the nearest empire settlement and used his goods to acquire armor. Chainmail and an axe (it was probably a wood cutters axe). He donned it, and proceeded to make an ass of himself around the Marsh for several more years. Whenever questioned about his activities responded with anger, believing they simply didn't understand. Eventually he was either spoken to be an Elder, encountered a real knight who had something to say about his mockery, or screwed up enough to realize what he was doing. Metal armor didn't make him a knight. It didn't make him virtuous , nor erase the sins of the past. He didn't simply need to make amends, but redeem himself in the eyes of his people, and most of all his own. It was after this he swore his oath to Sang Ferro, a knight usually depicted in full armor, but known to cast it aside and sacrifice the self for the sake of others.
Additional Information: • The lizardfolk are a semi-nomadic tribe with a hunter-warrior society and a religious aversion to metal, believing it is desecrating the bones of one of their principle goddesses. They are isolationists but have no issues with outsiders who have proven trustworthy. Only a handful of them have contact with the world outside the Havenrock valley, mostly a single trader who is thought to be very 'odd'. • Majddaear, the Gardener of Death. A matronly goddess of nature and death who loves all creatures equally from intelligent races to lowly insects. (Goddess they believe metal to be the bones of) • While perhaps an odd choice for a lizardfolk, one of the gods in the pantheon who might fit your tenets is Sang Ferro, the Protector. He is a god of strength, justice, war, and mercy popular among paladins in the Ocymian Empire. Though usually depicted as an empty set of fullplate, he is also sometimes shown as a man riddled with scars and open wounds. (edited) • Hence why he may be an odd choice, but the secondary aspect of self sacrifice rather than that of the invincible armored warrior might be what calls to you. • The lizardfolk were initially wary, but after the party assisted the chieftain's daughter with her coming-of-age trial and stopped an undead suit of armor that had been rampaging across their hunting grounds, the party was accepted as friends of the lizardfolk and an exchange of craftsmen has started between the town and the village. • Lizardfolk who revers his ancestors, calls upon their strength in times of need, and is wholey convinced those ancestors are dinosaurs • They actually mostly speak a simplistic dialect of draconic and only a handful speak common or other tongues. • Anger issues. Killed his brother in the womb. Committed some kind of crime for which he needs to be redeemed. • May also work if whatever I'm redeeming involves an offense to Majddaear involving metal, with the unarmoured version of Sang Ferro being seen as casting metal aside in self sacrifice. • Sang Ferro's symbol is that of a bleeding hand catching the blade of a sword. • Tilts head and does a lizard tongue flick when confused.
3-5 Rumors about: • Rumor (False) - His "Knight Phase" was caused Tevici who had placed a curse on him which still lingers. Several variations on what he did to be cursed exist. • Rumor (False) - He actively worships Tevici. (Likely started due to the previous rumor, and most not knowing much about Sang Ferro) • Rumor (False) - The Brahmin he brought back during his trial was actually killed by the Mishipishu, and he simply grabbed it while running away. • Rumor (True) - The scars on his face weren't caused in battle, but because he fell out of a tree once as a child. He dies this. • Rumor (Partially true) - He was cowed by a human without putting up a fight. (This was the Paladin who told him off.)
People Known: • Lehkraskol - Female Lizardfolk: Clutch Sister. 5'10, Grey Scales, Brown eyes, lithe. Crafter and Artisan, specializes in creating things for ceremonial purpose or trade. She loves making small knives and tools out of bones. She considers everyone else as idiots. One of the people who never let Ripsnarl forget about his failure during the trial. During her trial went out and found materials that made for better paints. • Orguak - Female Lizardfolk: Clutch Sister. 6'7, Brown Scales, Brown eyes, spiked crest, muscular. Warrior. Appears emotionally distant, but is internally rather emotional for a Lizardfolk. Will never say no to a duel, but is extremely clumsy outside of combat. Often sparred with Ripsnarl as children and as adults. • Volok - Male Lizardfolk: Clutch Brother. 6'3, Very Dark Green Scales, Brown Eyes, boney crest, sunken breastbone, broken snout. Hunter. Calculating, but lazy. Quotes proverbs, always says them wrong. Brought up Ripsnarl's failure whenever he was losing an argument. Ripsnarl is responsible for his broken snout. • Tulvir - Male Lizardfolk: Clutch Brother. 6'1, Emerald Scales, Red Eyes, Large Crest, "lip piercings". Shaman. He never acts on impulse. Constantly looks for the loophole. Has learned to laugh by observation, but still doesn't understand humor. • Urthok - Male Lizardfolk: 7'2, Brown Scales, Yellow eyes, Hulking build, tattooed. Another one of the people who never let Ripsnarl forget about his failure during the trial. Fights with him often. Physically very strong, but little else. Short tempered. One sided Rivalry. • Ludryrth - Female Lizardfolk: 6'1, Emerald Scales, Brown Eyes, smooth head, lean, often squints. Practical and detail oriented. One of those in charge of tending to the wounded. Frequently tended to Ripsnarl's. Familiar face. • Vurant - Male Lizardfolk: 6'5, Brown Scales, Blue Eyes, Square head, bristled scales. Warrior and Former friend. Previously frequent sparring partner. Aggressive, but even tempered. He has a hard time understanding other humanoids' emotions. Doesn't care about risks or odds. Was very confused when Ripsnarl began "playing knight" and after several failed attempts trying to force him out of it, began distancing himself. • Thadragar - Male Lizardfolk: 6'3, Emerald Scales, Black Eyes, skinny, missing left leg. Former Hunter, Current Butcher. He has no self-confidence. Prefers swimming to walking. Spends every morning training. One of those Ripsnarl "rescued" during his knightly phase. Actually did save his life, but not his leg which had to be removed. Still confused by Ripsnarl's choices, but thankful for the rescue. Was the one who made Ripsnarl's mantle. • Unknown Paladin - Female "Humanoid" - 5'8, Pale skin, Red Hair (Braided) , Brown Eyes, squared jaw. Paladin that told him off about his "mockery" of knights. Doesn't know her name or actual race, just that she looked human. Stern at first meeting. Clearly has strong opinions about how Knights/Paladins should be presented. Didn't hesitate to try and help someone even while already on a job. Hasn't seen her since. • Mimay Brandywood - Female Halfling - 3'4, tan, apple shaped face. Diplomat or Merchant. Slightly colourblind. Keeps several birds. Usually arrives with the Caravan when there have been disputes between the merchants and the tribe. Likes to talk with the Lizardfolk individually to sus out what they want on average. Took a particular interest in Ripsnarl due to his odd requests in recent years. • Doran Mournhill - Male Human: 5'7, tall and lean, dark skin, green eyes, short straight black hair. Merchant that Ripsnarl bought the armor and axe from. Didn't know him very well, but will never forget him. Very polite and respectful way of speaking, and a regal look to him.
Timeline Notes:
• Killed brother in the womb. (Scrap. Lizardfolk lay eggs. Needlessly violent.) • Child with an aggressive and short temper. • Frequently got into fights but was either praised for it, or got off lightly when he went too far. • Something about what he did during his "trial" trying to prove himself? • Possibly involves their aversion to metal (averse to it, but not forbidden. Something more extreme?) • Did something Dishonourable. • Climax?? • Regret + Guilt = Seek Redemption • Found in Sang Ferro • Learned from Merchant Salphas? Or possibly travelled out of the Valley?
Appearance: 6′7, 245 lbs. Pale Green Eyes. Green scales so dark they’re almost black (more a blue-green). Several small scars under his right eye going down his muzzle. Very broadly built, arms slightly longer than normal. Doesn’t wear armor, but does wear a fur and leather mantle, the skull of a large saber toothed cat on his right shoulder. Has a slightly drooping central crest running down the middle of his head and down his back, spikes running on either side, and a pair of finned ear like protrusions. Kinda looks like a cross between a Cuban Iguana and a Water Monitor Lizard. Aside from the mantle he wears a loincloth, as well as foot and hand wraps.

Rat Grinder Redemption but they get assigned a "Bad Kids Trusted Adult" to make sure they're redeemed:
Ruben: Gorthalax (Starting off with my weakest. I'm pretty sure Gorthalax also has music ties from back in Freshman Year when he was introduced, so I think he can help Ruben take back his music. The Bad Kids also don't know many bard adults)
Mary Ann: Ragh (Ragh's boundless enthusiasm makes him very good at carrying conversations. He's not only a great Barbarian, but would take a genuine interest in Mary Ann's quorky pets and squishmallows. His enthusiasm has to become infectious eventually)
Oisin: Aelwyn (It was very hard to get Aelwyn to agree to make sure Oisin was redeemed, but after she was told she had to help teach him magic, she agreed. She trains him really harshly, lots of borderline unsafe sparring, but eventually they manage to get along by bitching about other people to each other)
Ivy: Sandra Lynn (Ivy is extremely vocal about how she is NOT pleased to have somebody supervising her, but Sandra Lynn takes no shit from her. Her tough love is just what Ivy needs, and slowly, to her own disgust, she starts to become attached to Sandra Lynn's no-nonsense attitude. Sandra Lynn is an incredible ranger and a great teacher, so Ivy has a hard time hating her for very long)
Kipperlily: Jawbone (Jawbone's already been working with Kipperlily for a while now, and he wants to see it through. Kipperlily is the most resistant of the Rat Grinders to being redeemed, but eventually, Jawbone's able to get back to where he was with her and help her improve)
All the kids spend time with Lydia, who knows what it's like to experience rage for a long period of time. She's very hard to dislike for very long, and they all warm up to her very quick. Mary Ann the fastest because Ragh talks about her all the time.
I'm not sure what adult would be assigned to Buddy. If anybody has any ideas, feel free to reblog with them!

Pairing: Halsin x f!reader
Angsty fluff
Word count: 1,3k
Content warnings: none as far as I'm aware, but feel free to correct me if I missed anything.
Summary: Halsin is going through it, and you're worried about him.
Okay, so seeing the vid of all the companions as barbarians changed me. Not only do I now think Halsin would be perfect as barbarian in the 'nature's wrath' typa way, I also decided to make Gale a barbarian in my next playthrough. My boy had the most pathetic little shout, and i happen to think that's great.
Anyway, here's reader getting worried about sweet druid Halsin turning into raging barbarian Halsin. There will be a part two eventually. It will be smut. Sorry guys, but i can't keep the horny in check.
Also, this is rly more of a drabble than a fic, so I'm not naming it :)
Ever since you'd been unable to save the grove, Halsin had been unable to change into an animal. This change hit the archdruid hard. Not only did this mean that Silvanus saw no chance of redemption in him, it meant the rest of his connection with nature was gone.
At least that's what he had convinced himself of. You were not so sure. You still saw the way nature seemed to respond to his presence, a spark of natural magic still present in the large elf. And yet, you also saw the rage, the new way of fighting he'd adapted to at least try to end the shadow curse alongside you.
The first time he fought by your side since the loss shook you to your core. It seemed for a second that the gentle giant had disappeared. The deep war cry that left him would have stunned you had you not also been fighting the claws of a shadow monster off.
It left an impression on you. You didn't necessarily dislike his new demeanor, but it did worry you. It simply didn't seem like him.
"Halsin!" You call out to the man as he stands next to lae'zel's tent, sharpening his newly acquired battle axe. "Come look!" You'd spotted the ducklings near the ruin in your camp before, but you'd never pointed them out to anyone before. Something about seeing Halsin with the axe made you want to take his attention off the blasted thing as soon as possible, though.
Your plan was working. He put down the axe, jogging to your side in a way that made your heart flutter. What can you say, the man was big in a way that was very attractive to you, and his normally gentle ways only endeared him to you more.
"And what is it I'm here to look at?" He asks, looking straight at you instead of looking around. The lack of his usual perception skills bothered you a bit, but at the same time, you didn't mind his attention being on you either.
"Look over there," you speak more quietly now that you're closer to the animals, not wanting to scare them off. You softly guide him closer to them when you notice he still hasn't spotted the ducklings. "Thought I saw them in the grass yesterday, but the mother finally had the courage to come out!"
The heat of his skin against yours is nice but you chastise yourself for focusing on that when your mission is distracting him, not yourself.
"Oh, younglings this late in the season? The mother has her work cut out for her if she is to keep all of them safe until adulthood." Halsin's voice seems to soften and you can almost physically feel the connection between him and nature. "Though maybe she should give up while she's ahead, protecting what is dear to you is sometimes...simply impossible."
The pain in his voice is clear to you, his eyes steeling. "There will always be new dangers to threaten it after all," Halsin speaks, a new edge entering his voice. "Always new ways to fail," anger. "Always injustice." Rage.
The increasing volume scares of the mother duck, sending the ducklings scattering across the lake. The seething man next to you seems to be too caught up in his anger to even realize. But you do, you realize maybe more than you should have.
A moments hesitation, maybe you shouldn't be getting this involved in Halsin's feelings and inner turmoil. After all you were part of the cause of it all, you'd failed to protect the Grove just as much as he had. What would you do if he turned this newfound rage to you?
You shake your head to clear your thoughts. This was no time to fear consequences to yourself. Halsin could use your help, so you have to try, even if that possibly leads to your favourite man in camp hating you.
"Halsin," you speak softly, almost like you're attempting to soothe him. "Look." The same words from before, spoken differently but accompanied with the same gentle guiding gesture.
It snaps him out of his inner spiral but the anger is clearly still there, barely even hidden beneath the surface. "I know nature has been rejecting you lately, that Silvanus has all but abandoned you." You subconsciously start stroking the man's back in an attempt to further soothe him as you try to make your point. "But this right now? It's you. You're scaring them off. I'm not sure if there's space in you for all this rage and the power of nature."
His eyes linger on your face for another while after the last words leave your lips before he diverts them back to the ducks. He doesn't speak, and for all your nerves, you're not as scared anymore. His posture became less tense and as he crouched down by the edge of the water, you see the old him again.
His hand reaches the water without disturbing it, and as the ducklings regroup near their mother, she swims up to him. You see the change in him the second she touches his hand. Like a world of weight fell off his shoulders, his burden still heavy, but bearable now.
A soft golden glow emanates from the water now, and before you can question anything, Halsin begins chuckling.
"By Silvanus, you were right! Nature never severed my ties, I was burning them with my own fury." he turns to you, still crouched by the ducks who've started nuzzling in his palm now. "You've returned an important piece of myself to me."
"I only pointed out some ducklings, Halsin. You did the rest." You send a wink his way before turning back to the rest of camp. "Oh! Does this mean I can give that sharpened axe to Karlach? She's been eyeing it," you ask, turning back to Halsin, barely noticing the blush creeping over his face. He merely nods in return, feeling his heart stir at the grin you give him.
You'd been right about the axe, Karlach's face when you handed it over to her could only be described with the same words one would use for an overjoyed child. She'd even vowed to you to keep the ribbon you'd put on the handle clean of blood so she could keep it on there.
Unbeknownst to you, as you were accepting the barbarian's expressions of gratitude, the druid that was admiring you form afar got cornered by the two other elves in camp.
"Say Halsin, if I didn't know any better, I'd almost say you're fawning over our dear little (y/n)." It was Astarion who spoke up first, but by her proximity, Halsin could tell Shadowheart had some words for him as well, most likely less sugar coated than Astarion's.
"She's not just our leader, Halsin," Shadowheart begins, "if you hurt her, we'll be forced to hurt you." The clear threat from the cleric was endearing to him. He liked knowing how much the others cared about you.
"Actually," Astarion continued. "I'm fairly certain if we really needed a druid on our travels, we wouldn't be too hard pressed to find one. Jaheira seems entertaining if nothing else." Astarion's thinly veiled threat was less endearing but the same thought process kept the smile on Halsin's face.
"Thank you both for stepping up like this. Though I assure you, I do not give my heart lightly, and I'm ready to offer her all of it." His eyes returned to you as he spoke, watching you fondly as Karlach lifted you into the air and swung you around.
"There is nothing in this world that could make me hurt her."

Hope I can phrase this in a way that makes sense but—
What well-known actual-play cast member is your favorite for each of the core D&D class? Not necessarily a specific characters, but I’m interested in which players you think brings the most to each class.
This is a very interesting question! It's a hard one to answer for some classes and very easy for others so bear with me; also there are a couple where I could not pick just one.
I'm sticking to the PHB 12 for, as you said, core classes:
Barbarian: While Travis did give us "I would like to rage," I think Ashley and Taliesin get to share this one for me. I think they both really explore what rage means to someone and while I love a good "I'm a tank because I can take the hits and that's what I do and what I'm good at" story, I also think Yasha's messy relationship with her feelings of guilt and grief, and Ashton's chronic pain, are both incredible ways to play with the barbarian archetype.
Bard: much easier. Sam Riegel and Krystina Arielle. I'm a sucker for someone who actually sings even as I don't think you have to (and have played bard without doing so). It's both clearly a class they each love dearly and it shows, and they're incredibly musically talented performers to boot.
Cleric: Lou Wilson. Especially since I didn't like Fantasy High season 1 Fabian until the end of the season Kingston blew me away. I would love to see him explore cleric again, though it's exciting to see him as a paladin on WBN.
Druid: Emily Axford as Moonshine. Emily as a rule understands D&D classes very well anyway, but I think the culture of the crick and the ways that Moonshine must grow as a character while being a druid take it to the next level. (Also I prefer a caster-heavy druid to a shapechanger-heavy one; that's just me).
Fighter: Back to NADDPod because literally who could I say other than Jake Hurwitz, the man who only plays fighters. People who are new to D&D when they start actual play can be hit or miss imo; some pick it up and some lean harder on being showy to make up for it and it doesn't play well for me personally, but Jake is the greatest hit.
Monk: Marisha Ray; Beau is just generally a great character, and I think Marisha's own experience with martial arts informs the way she plays her; monks can be kind of repetitive in combat even with strong players and she manages to avoid this through her description.
Paladin: This is actually super hard because people don't play straight paladin a lot. This is incorrect of them, but it is an intense class. I think Luis Carazo and Zac Oyama are like...the duality of paladin (and indeed, redemption paladin). The tragedy and the comedy.
Ranger: Laura Bailey, natch; it's funny because Vex is in many ways not the archetypal ranger due to having high charisma, but she is simply my favorite and that's that on that. Sorry the mechanics were so bad; I would love to see more rangers in D&D even though Vex will be hard to dethrone. I promise Tasha's fixed them!
Rogue: I think I'm actually going Murph on this one. I like when rogues are more of the detective/spy type than the assassin/criminal type [obligatory "of course that's what you'd say you stupid paladin stan"] and inquisitive and arcane trickster are probably my two top rogue classes so Riz it is.
Sorcerer: I do consider PF1e cheating here because it's technically a different system that also imo addresses a lot of the weaknesses of sorcerer/makes it way better, but Bryn Monroe of RQG did play a great sorcerer. In D&D? Giving Emily Axford a second spot here for Saccharina. I'm going to talk about this for warlock, but I think sorcerer is a class you don't have to justify but if you don't it's a little unsatisfying. Sorcerer really shines in the Crown of Candy setting, and metamagic often doesn't live up to its reputation but Emily makes it work for her.
Warlock: Travis Willingham. I think there are classes that are kind of self-explanatory, for lack of a better term; you can play a fighter or rogue or even a bard or druid without going super deep into why the character is this class and still be an incredible character (though a good backstory never hurts). But there are others where you really need to be engaging with the class at all times to make it work, and warlock is one of them, and Fjord explores the warlock pact and what it means like few others.
Wizard: Aabria Iyengar. NO ONE gets wizard hubris as a player like Aabria. Knowledge is power and boy do wizards love knowledge. I especially like that most people in 5e play wizards as genuine adventurers because it feels very easy to play them as old guy in robes swept up in events beyond them; Aabria plays wizards who are combat ready with the humanity and backstory to make the difficult decisions sympathetic and meaningful, and I think that's how you have to play it.
Note: I want to specifically call out Liam O'Brien and Siobhan Thompson as "people I trust in basically any class or system and just didn't happen to hit a favorite here due to sky-high competition/personal preferences". They are both very close seconds for wizard.

dnd 5e builds for base strive cast (+ goldlewis!)
Sol: either an Artificer (Battlesmith) w a Barbarian (Totem) dip where his Steel Defender is his bike and Elk/Bear rage is dragon install OR a Wizard (Bladesinger) with a belt (headband) of giant strength and Tasha's Otherworldy Guise as his DI
Ky: Hexbalde Warlock w a Battlemaster Fighter dip since he seems charismatic and his patron cld be the Thunderseal. His manouevres: Trip (Stun Dipper), Lunge (Foudre Arc), Riposte (Vapor Thrust). Meanwhile, Eldritch Blast = Stun Edge, Booming Blade = Dire Eclat, can blow his limited spell slots on Lightning Bolt (Sacred Edge) or Hasted Booming Blades + Relentless Hex or just Thunder Step (RTL). Possibly take a sorc (Storm) dip or the Metamagic Adept feat to transmute spell and change his damage types to lightning + gain flying speed.
May: Ranger (Beastmaster) for sea animal shenanigans. Possible dips into Paladin (Devotion, to the Jellyfish Pirates) or Fighter (Cavalier) for mounted combat features and bonuses (e.g. Find Greater Steed)
Axl: Ranger (Horizon Walker) + Monk (Kensei)/Fighter (Battlemaster). The boring and "correct" answer here is pure bladesinger wiz using a flavoured whip for the Time Stop spell, but the teleportation offered by Horizon Walker and the idea of slipping between planes of existence seems flavourful. Ranger features also have a bit more trap laying flavour. Monk bonuses for movement speed + unarmoured defense to remain slippery while dressing casual.
Chipp: Monk (Shadow) with the Fey Touched and Shadow Touched feats for access to Shadow Teleport + Misty Step + Shadow Blade and maybe a small spellcaster dip into Sorcerer (Shadow) if only to get Quickened Spell for ninja flavour + Mirror Image (multiple Chipps!)
Potemkin: although a pure Fighter (Champion) is tempting, the 4 attacks per turn feels at odds w the slower, lumbering idea of Potemkin. Instead I propose DM fiat to allow smiting while Unarmed, then build Potemkin as a Variant Human (base feat used to learn Unarmed Fighting style) with full Paladin (Glory or Redemption). His devotion and larger than life presence give him moral power behind his blows which are weighty (big ass smites) but infrequent (2 per turn). The other athleticism, tanky abilities come from his Paladin subclass features. Spells like Command and Compelled Duel reflect his intimidating presence and ability to control the field. Spells like Thunderous Smite and Destructive Wave reflect his sheer terrain-altering strength. Feats could include Grappler, Tavern Brawler, Tough.
Faust: Pure Wild Magic Sorcerer or an even split btwn Wild Magic Sorc and Life Cleric. Dimension Door/Misty Step for teleports. Items could represent by: Meteors (Minute Meteors), Bomb (Delayed Blast Fireball), 100T Weight (Earth Tremor/Earthquake), Donut/Banana (Healing Word/Cure Wounds), Afro (reflavoured Web since its also a control debuff that turns into damage after fire exposure), Minifaust (so many summon spells but I like the idea of Guardian of Faith from Cleric), Trumpet (Insect Plague), Hammer (Catapult). And then Haste can be used with Quickened Spell to simulate item throw super. Tack on a couple fighter levels perhaps to Action Surge and emulate the 100 tension version + give some oomph to the occasional scalpel normal.
Millia: not base dnd but i think she fits a Blood Hunter (Lycan) pretty well. The flavour of undergoing a dangerous and forbidden procedure for power, the hair transformations... probably uses Rite of the Oracle (psychic) and Blood Curse of Binding (tandem top) to hold enemies in place for devastating up close "mixups" while still remaining highly mobile.
Zato: Fighter (Echo Knight) w a Monk (Long Death) dip (or, potentially, Undead Warlock). Fragile but frequently summonable puppet fighter w a Monk dip for the "unarmoured melee fighter" vibe + undying flavour or Warlock dip for more spell slinging vibe+ access to flight spells.
Ramlethal: taking a bit more from her Xrd incarnation, a mixed Cleric (Twilight) for access to Spiritual Weapon for the "remote/hovering sword" + a hover/fly movement rather than regular walking and a Warlock (Hexblade) with the Eldritch Smite invocation to burn spell slots for chunky damage that knocks enemies flat on their asses (Mortobato).
Leo: Rogue (Swashbuckler ) + Barbarian (Totem). Probably a Tiger/Elk Barb for the movement speed and the animalistic vibe, while the Rogue levels and Swashbuckler features give the idea of a speedy duelist who occasionally snipes out big damage hits from "converting" movement speed based mixups. (also Swashbucklers benefit from Charisma, which leo definitely has since hes led so many soldiers to their deaths 🥰)
Nago: Fighter (Samurai). I think a majority of Nago's features and design are reflected in this subclass- the idea of a fighter who takes a slow and measured approach while occasionally bursting into a flurry of sudden violence. The high level Samurai feature of taking another turn upon getting dropped also kind of feels like Nago blood rage- a last second gambit at the verge of defeat type of deal.
Gio: Monk (Astral Self). Gio's features as an unarmed, unarmoured, mobile fighter w a not-quite animal spirit are perfectly encapsulated in this subclass, down to her appearance transformations at high tension
Anji: Bard (Swords) with Fighter (Battlemaster) dip and the Dual Wielder feat. Swords Bard explains his armoured twirl (Defensive Flourish) and other more magical effects like the butterfly, koi, and his cinematic super. Battlemaster Trip (rekka low), Push (corner carry off fuujin), Sweep (spinny spins), Parry/Riposte (dedicated counters).
I-No: Oddly enough i dont think she's a pure bard. If anything, I think her style seems more offense oriented than support, so she probably has way more Sorcerer (storm) levels for flying and her other magic shit. For her Bard dip, probably a Whispers bard to play into her role as a mysterious and menacing antagonist figure.
Goldlewis: Paladin (Watchers) with a Warlock (GoO) dip. Watchers paladins already deal w abberations and aliens, and his smites could be flavoured as his big behemoth typhoons/down with the system. Warlock spells and blast reflect the gadgets stored by his alien.
Wow! Points for being so thorough! This is cool

Twisted Wonderland DnD
Title says it all, basically here's what I think the NRC boys classes and species would be in Dnd
Notes:
This is me trying to adapt their powers not what they would pick, for example if I was going on what they'd pick Epel with be a goliath barbarian
Everyone's going to have a level cap of 15, with the exceptions of Leona, Malleus and Lilia cause they're noticeably older than everyone else so I felt fair giving them a few more levels due to more experienced.
I'm sticking to cannon species if I can, but I will be mixing it up in the cases where either A, there isn't a good substitute or B, I think it would be funny.
Just cause I like to I tried to give everyone a multi-class. Also this is being done with base 5e rules so none of the new 2024 stuff.
Obviously this is just for fun idc about being optimal here.
And with that House Keeping done, let's go!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Riddle: Human, 3 Zealot Barbarian 12 Abjuration wizard
A caster with barbarian levels, well if there was ever a way to prove this was just for fun this would be it- Jokes aside the subclass doesn't matter too much here, I just had to squeak some barb levels in here cause of Riddle being a very angry boi plus him somehow having the strength to throw Floyd across the room during their orientation. The wizard levels are more straightforward, he's a smart boi and abjuration is where all the 'no magic allowed' spells are so yeah.
Ace: Human, 8 Arcane Trickster Rogue 7 Glamour Bards
Unlike everyone else sans Ortho, I didn't really have any unique magic stuff to use as a baseline for Ace, however one of his talents is sleight of hand tricks so I figured rogue would be a good fit, and Arcane Trickster with it's invisible mage hand in particular would be pretty fitting. As for bard, that one's mainly to show that he's a show off and Glamour is the one I always kinda see as the most flashy. Plus, look me in the eye and tell me Ace wouldn't be a Vicious Mockery spammer.
Deuce: Human, 5 Champion Fighter 10 Redemption Paladin
Probably one of the easiest ones for me to figure out tbh. Some flavour of fighter for his delinquent days and him getting into a lot of fights then (I went champion cause of crits but tbh any could work), and then redemption paladin cause he's trying his god damn hardest to be a good boi now, not much more to it.
Trey: Human, 8 Transmutation Wizard 7 Shepard Druid
And in contrast to Deuce being one of the easiest to figure out, Trey might just be tied for the hardest because I did not know where to begin here. Eventually I went transmutation wizard cause all of it's spells are about changing something which fits with his UM, and then Druid due to the nature and healing spells combo being a decent fit for his cooking and his big brother instincts. Again, this is the one I'm least sure on so if you have any other ideas please tell me.
Cater: Half Elf, 10 Lore Bard 5 Illusion Wizard
That moment when I have to justify the species more than the class-. Tldr, some writers, namely @ladyazurith , have sold me on the concept of half fae Cater so I wanted to throw that in, and since their isn't a half fairy race half elf will have to do. Meanwhile the class was really easy, Illusion wizard cause while there's no spell that quite replicates 'Split Card' their collection comes close, and lore bard cause Cater as a bard just feels right, though I'm open to thoughts on the subclass.
(rest underneath cut). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leona: Tabaxi, 5 Battle Master Fighter, 11 Storm Sorcerer
I love my lazy cat man, in general but also here cause he's easy to figure out. Any fighter subclass would've worked, I just went battle master cause some of the manoeuvres like tripping felt like things Leona would do in a fight, and the Sorcerer levels were mainly cause I wanted to get him disintegrate which was the closest spell I could find to King's Roar, I just went storm cause none of the other sorcerer origins seemed like the best fit
Ruggie: Tabaxi, 12 Thief Rogue 3 Enchantment Wizard:
Another simple enough one. Given his upbringing thief rogue just made way to much sense, and as for enchantment wizard well, that's the school of magic Hideous Laughter and it's stronger Tasha version belong to and that's such a good fit for 'Laugh for Me' it's not even funny.
Jack: Shifter, 10 Moon Druid 5 Cavalier Fighter
Thank you Savannahclaw for being simple- Jokes aside, Moon Druid is the class all about better wildshape, the ability that lets you turn into animals so it's perfect for 'Unleash the Beast', and again the subclass didn't matter too much for the fighter I just wanted it for more melee strength (+Jack wanting to copy Leona) and I went cavalier cause I thought it would be funny if he got the bonuses when he was the mount- Also went shifter cause there's no werewolf race and I had to improvise
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Azul: Simic Hybrid, 10 Fathomless Warlock 5 Whispers Bard
And in complete contrast to the last dorm the Octotrio were collectively a pain to figure out. Eventually I did settle on this though. There's no octopus race so I went Simic Hybrid purely because it can have all kinds of aquatic limbs including octopus tentacles so 'close enough' and Whispers is the spy bard so all the public charms plus a lot of sneakiness. As for warlock, look, I know realistically Azul would more likely be a patron than someone making a devil deal given how he is, but I couldn't resist plus nothing's stopping him from making deals of his own to take down his boss-
Jade: Triton, 10 Spores Druid 5 Whispers Bard
Before anyone makes the joke yes the twins being a species named Triton is ironic but again I didn't have the best options here. That aside, the class here was easy enough, the bard levels were mainly for fast friends and zone of truth which combined make a pretty good representation of 'Shock the Heart' and I went Whispers for the same reason as Azul. As for the druid levels well, Jade clearly loves nature given how he started the Mountain Lovers Club and all, wildshape is a good way for him to turn back into his true form, and well, Circle of Spores specifically is a creepy mushroom themed subclass which just fits way too well.
Floyd: Triton, 2 Land Druid 13 Hexblade Warlock
Despite how long this one took me to figure out this one's pretty simple. Druid for wildshape though unlike Jade Floyd isn't sticking around nearly as long, and Hexblade cause well, I wasn't actively writing down spell lists but I was keeping them in mind and out of all the classes that had the spells I wanted for him (shield and counterspell to try recreate 'Bind the Heart') warlock was the only one that gave any kind of melee game, plus idk Floyd does seem like the type to find a cursed sword and keep it as a pet. Also,I'm not going into abilities but he also absolutely gets the grappler feat cause boy has gotta squeeze.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kalim: High Elf, 12 Divine Soul Sorcerer 3 Creation Bard
After the fishies gave me a lot of trouble we're back to simple thank god. Kalim does scream sorcerer to me due to the 'being born with more magic without having to work as hard for it' thing (I mean this with love I love my sunshine boy) and I went with Divine Soul to kinda reference Kalim being one of only three students at NRC to use light magic plus given all the assassination attempts the various healing spells it comes with probably come in handy (also sorcerer's in general are good with con saves which is what you need to beat poison). The bard levels are pretty much just cause he likes performing and making people smile, subclass doesn't matter too much, and lastly high elves are like the typical high magic rich people race which I think is a good fit.
Jamil: Yuan-ti, 4 Assassin Rogue 11 Enchantment Wizard
Time for my babygirl everyone- My bias aside this one was fun and thankfully pretty simple. I went with Yuan-ti cause that's the snake race and I couldn't help myself (also it has advantage on poison saves so extra fitting), Assassin Rogue cause rogue is generally a good class for getting through social interactions, notably with deception which is fitting, plus I have a sinking feeling Jamil at least knows how to kill if not has already done so. And finally, enchantment wizard cause that's where all the mind control spells are, notably level 11 is when you get mass suggestion which is basically what Jamil did at the end of book 4.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vil: Human, 10 Alchemist Artificer 5 Glamour Bard
I know I could've been more creative with the species choice here but Vil was one of the first I worked on and I wasn't going full hog wild yet- That aside, this one was surprisingly simple, Vil is the best potion maker out of the dorm specifically dedicated to that so the subclass that's all about making potions was just way too fitting, and glamour bard because Vil is absolutely a bard and I tend to associate this one with being the most bright and showy which is a public image I think Vil would like.
Rook: Wood Elf, 12 Fey Wanderer Ranger 3 Eloquence Bard
A rare case where I knew the class right away but the subclasses were hard to nail down. I know hunter ranger seems like the obvious one but tbh I'm not crazy on it and the 2014 version especially is kinda boring so I looked at the others and I think Fey Wanderer fits Rook a bit better cause of his love of beauty and all Fey being pretty in their own weird little way, plus it's more light themed and since he's one of the light magic students I wanted to lean into that. Meanwhile I think the bard stuff he picked up from Vil and I went eloquence cause that one's all about the fancy words which Rook is full of. As for the species, I have no deeper reason other than Wood Elf feeling right admittedly-
Epel: Halfling, 3 Wild Magic Barbarian 12 Swords Bard
Sorry Epel, I love you but in my mind you're a tiny boy holding a comically large axe- As for why I didn't push that gag further, well that's mainly cause I wanted to replicate UM when I can, and for Epel the closest I could get with my level cap+multiclass rules was Wall of Force so he had to go caster, and since I realised the rest of Pomfiore were at least part bard I decided Epel can join in on the 'fun'. Though I did do him the mercy of picking College of Swords cause Vil can force this angry boi to play music and charm people but he's gonna do it in the most violent way possible-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Idia: Fire Genasi, 10 Battlesmith Artificer 5 Shadow Sorcerer
This was easier than I was expecting ngl. Tldr, Fire Genasi was the closest I could get to... whatever is going on with his biology, Artificer is the resident builder class so it's a good fit and battlesmith in particular is all about making weapons which is kind of what Idia did with Ortho, and Shadow Sorcerer cause his weird blood basically mandated some sorcerer levels and shadow is all about death which fits Idia's deal pretty well.
Ortho: Warforged, 8 PSI Fighter 7 Shadow Sorcerer:
And in complete contrast to his brother, Ortho is probably tied with Trey for the character I had the hardest time with but hopefully this'll do. Warforged is the resident robot race so that was a shoe in, I just kinda assume Idia used some of his magic to create Ortho hence the sorcerer levels plus spells like magic missile is the closest I can get to his laser beams, and fighter cause it's the generically good combat class, again subclass is debatable. I tried but I have no idea what I was doing for this one tbh-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Malleus: Fairy, 12 Draconic Sorcerer 5 Dreams Druid
Okay, I know Dragonborn is the obvious species here but man is literally the prince of the Fae and there's plenty of spells to transform into dragons so screw it Malleus is a fairy. Other than that it's pretty straight forward, Draconic Sorcerer cause no duh, and Dreams Druid cause A, Fae prince aka tied to nature and B, after book 7 I don't think I need to explain why Malleus having a sleep themes class is fitting.
Silver: Human, 13 Twilight Cleric 2 Dreams Druid
Okay, hear me out with the class here, namely cleric cause I don't think I have to explain Dreams Druid here either. Tldr, I wanted Silver to have plane shift cause that was the closest thing I could find to his UM. Unfortunately it's a high level spell so I can't properly fit in a martial class while keeping to my level limit. Fortunately cleric is one of the classes that has Plane Shift and it's good with melee weapons as well as armour, plus it's all about holy aka light magic so it's honestly kind of perfect. Also I went Twilight Domain cause Lilia found him at night and it's a nice way of showing how despite where he was from Silver true place is with the Fae rather than his birth family.
Lilia: Dhampir, 5 Eldritch Knight Fighter 15 Bladesinger Wizard
Okay I know I should've made Lilia a fairy along with Malleus but we all joke that Lilia's a vampire so when I remembered Dhampir was an option I couldn't resist. That aside everything else is fairly simple, a melee fighter with spell access in Eldritch Knight and a caster that prefers to fight at melee in Bladesinger, perfect for a former war general, and this way most of his actual spells can go to fun utility options, as well as more... questionable spells like ones to 'help' with his cooking.
Sebek: Lizardfolk, 10 Ancients Paladin 5 Storm Sorcerer
Again, there isn't a half fairy option so I had to get creative, but instead of just going half elf again I decided to do a silly and lean into the crocodile jokes. As for the classes, Storm Sorcery was mainly for the lightning spell access, and paladin was just too good of a fit for Sebek. I was tempted to go Crown due to his loyalty to Malleus but I decided on Ancients due to his pride in his Fae side but this one is pretty debatable. Though a bonus for paladins in general is Aura of Protection which provides allies advantage against fear.... the situation was more despair instead of fear but it still works pretty well for a certain moment in book 7
If you made it this far, thank you for indulging my bullshit

Good Guy Porter AU (AKA @wh1teegretorchid and I jokingly starting a prompt together at discord only for it to get wildly out of control.)
*Instead of being raised in the Cliffbreaker clan, Porter's father stole him away while he was still a baby to live in Bastion city where the stench of the city could cover their tracks. Thanks to the spy tongue curse, Porter's father couldn't tell his son why he ran away from home or why they can't connect with their family. All he could tell him was to stay in Bastion City no matter what.
*It stayed that way until Porter's father was diagnosed with lung cancer from the toxic air of the city. He joked in his last days that if he knew this is how he would die, he would picked up a pack to enjoy the ride. He died six months after starting his cancer treatment.
*Traumatized from his father's dead and pissed at the city for taking away his only family, Porter buried him as close to the Elmville as possible before moving their permanently. He bought a nice house in Tillering with what his father gave him in the will and became a health nut as a trauma response.
*This Porter is a redemption paladin in the honor of his father, who always believed in second chances, especially after escaping the Cliffbreaker cult.
*He starts working at Aguefort a week after settling down at his new home. He meets Jace Stardiamond at a teacher's night out during a weekend and they immediately entered a situationship.
*This Porter didn't meet Kipperlilly until near the end of her freshmen year. He found a day after the prompocalypse, punching a tree out of jealousy of Riz's success as a tragic rogue and frustration of doing everything by the book but getting no rewards for it. He suggests to her to multiclass into barbarian so she'd have a healthy outlet for her rage under watch of an adult. She reluctantly agreed when Jawbone said it was a good idea.
*While training with Porter after class, he starts suggesting her to go on adventures rather than killing pests in the school backyard behind the school's back, teaching her to break rules that hold her back. The High Five Heroes become actual accomplished adventurers on their own and Kipperlilly's need for validation from strangers weakens after bonding with her team and bonding with Porter.
*Shits goes sideways after the High Five Heroes return from their spring break. Lucy starts to get distant from everyone else, backing out of team bonding activities and failing her cleric classes. She gets more snippy and abrasive, causing concern about her friends and family. On the day her loved ones gathered for an intervention, Lucy goes missing.
*One the same day Lucy is declared dead from a scrying spell, the world delves into darkness for six months thanks to Riz. A voice in the back of Kipperlilly's head points out how convenient was for Lucy's killers that the Night Yorb was released on the day the town found out she was gone. Her hatred towards the Bad Kids come back with a vengeance.
More details under the cut.
*The party joins Porter's unofficial bootcamp to train so they could catch Lucy's killers. Oisin got buff, Ruben became emo, Ivy started dressing punk and they all maxed out their levels. They called it "the summer from hell."
*Porter and Jace were hit hard by Lucy's death too. Porter's developed a nasty temper and Jace was stressed out from trying to keep everyone in line. Porter's house became their HQ.
*Kipperlilly had already pretty much lived with Porter and Jace since her sophomore year thanks to a combo of found family and her parents being that neglectful. What was once a happy home turned into a horror movie where they're all trying to survive each other's grief.
*In the middle of summer when Gilear declared he plans on going on a trip with Hallerial, Jace is named the vice principal. He used his new found position to rewrite the party's achievements into just grinding rats in the Far Haven Woods so they'll be underestimated and whoever killed Lucy won't go after them. They renamed themselves the Rat Grinders to sell it, as much as it pained them.
*Ruben's song Get Mad in this world is a part of a five song demo album where he wrote a song for each stage of grief he suffered following Lucy's death. Get Mad was the anger stage and it became the song of the summer after a bunch of other teens related to it thanks to the lack of sun.
*Kipperlilly's campaign was written in Lucy's honor, calling out the school's irresponsibility with the students' livelihood and all the other injustices they've faced. In this timeline, Kristen does not call her four different dogs. Even she knows better here.
*Mary Ann joined the owl bears as a healthy outlet to the the stress caused Lucy's death and her teammates going fucking insane. She secretly burns through a rage every morning to stay stable.
*One of the plot ideas is that the bad kids get to be treated like NPCs for once, for better or for worse. Adaine's wizardry supplies get payed by Oisin along with the rest of the wizards to point out how insane it is that they have to buy it themselves. Kipperlilly hacks into the police data base to find possible suspects and releases Sklonda's final paycheck since she was already there. Gorgug and Fig aren't being personally groomed by Porter so they have an easier time with their classes. Kristen didn't lose Cassandra in this world and Fabian gets a new maid who's a "friend" of Cathilda's to look after him. He wonders what that speared sun tattoo on her shoulder means though.
*During the shrimp party at Fabian's, Oisin and Ivy's job was to drug up people at the party to loosen their tongues and gather more information was Kipperlilly was sneaking around at the police department. Oisin continued to hit his shots after meeting Adaine, but his aim was a lot shakier and he kept looking over his shoulder to see if someone is still there.
*When Fig disguised herself as Lucy and went away on her skateboard, the hair on Ivy's arms stood up. She iced out Fabian from the rest of his friends and once they were finally alone, she took out her knife form her boot and threatened to skewer him if he doesn't tell her what he knows about Lucy. Fabian confessed he thought they killed Lucy because their first quest involved a preppy girl selling out her blue skinned friend to get a position in the student body. A misunderstanding cleared but a mental breakdown on the horizon, Ivy and Oisin book it out of the party to relay all the information to the rest of their party.
*Buddy's introduction was planned by Porter with recommendations in the hopes of getting the party a cleric with a deity that's the exact opposite of Lucy's might make it easier on the Rat Grinders. Unfortunately, he has the same bright eyed and believing there's good in everyone attitude that Lucy had, so he only pours salt in the wound.
*Buddy is having the worst time. His new party was visibly on the brink and none of his words of advice are helping. Helio won't answer his prayers when he asks what's going on. His grandfather is breathing down on his neck and keeps insisting on converting the rest of the Rat Grinders even when Buddy respects their no. And why does everyone seems angrier lately?
And that's all for now because this post is getting heavy and my computer is gonna break soon. I have enough for a part two but only god knows when that will be written down.

Griel Clovermoss
Griel Clovermoss (Barbarian 10/Paladin 3) Barbarian (Wild Soul) - Outlander- Firbolg - Chaotic/Good -
Once belonged to a clan of peaceful Firbolg living in seclusion deep within the forest. One morning a creeping red moss was found at the edge of the village. With time it slowly spread across the village, not only across the trees and huts, but the people. It drove the Firbolgs afflicted by it into a state of madness and rage, until they quite literally tore the village and themselves to pieces. Was hidden by a parental figure by locking them in a storage cellar. Was able to watch the massacre happen through a gap in the cellar door. Was eventually infected by the mold as well and broke out of the cellar, only to find everyone else in the village already dead either by the hands of another, or succumbing to their wounds. Being too young and weak to cause much harm, but old enough to take care of himself (at least without dying), eventually acclimated to the moss enough to keep from a constant state of blind rage. Has several red markings that at first glance appear to be tattoos or warpaint, but are in fact the moss still growing on his body. Moss begins glowing whenever he enters a rage. Moss seems to have disrupted the natural magics of his feyblood causing them to become unstable. Stands at 7'4 to 7'7, covered in a sort of mold coloured grey-green fur, darkish not quite black hair, brown/amber eyes, kinda on the gaungly side at first glance but is actually lean/wirey muscle. Wears an assembly of leather straps over his torso, and a furred kilt.
Backstory Used: Born in deep within the Forgotten Forest, in the secluded Firbolg village of Autumnbreeze, Griel had what would be considered a fairly normal childhoood; until about the end of his first decade when the moss came. The villagers barely noticed it at first, an odd red moss growing upon the trees and stones at the edges of the village. Given time however, it spread to the buildings, and inevitably the people. That was when the nights of red started. The village bellowed with rage, it's people consumed by a frenzied madness. It wasn't long before they tore themselves apart...quite literally. Griel only survived because his mother locked him tight within the cellar when the violence began. Being locked away didn't prevent him from hearing the carnage however, nor prevent the moss from reaching him as well. Just a child, by the time he broke free from his confines...it was over. Nothing but bloody bodies and moss for miles. Old enough to survive, but not old enough to leave, and tormented by the madness of the moss, Griel remained in Autumnbreeze for years. With time, as the moss spread over his body, Griel grew accustomed to the rage, learned to channel it, use it for his own ends. Often he spoke with the moss, not that it was capable of replying. He didn't know where it came from, or what it really was, but in that time, it was his only friend.
Party Backstory:
"The three of you were brought together by the murder of the lord of the city state of Iraebor by an assassin. You spent almost a year tracking this assassin and just recently captured the villain and returned them to Iraebor for justice. Unfortunately, you also learned that this villain was a member of an imfamous band of halfling assassins called the "Skywatch Assassins". These assassins are responsible for many of the most gruesome murders across Faerun, but are difficult to track because they have a hideout in some sort of flying castle (allegedly). Worse yet their leader, one Arissa Skywatch evidently has access to some sort of powerful magic that enables the assassins to travel through any mirror like it was a teleportation circle. Its even rumored the leader enslaved a dragon and uses it as both a guardian and to eliminate any rivals. You set out immediately to end these assassins reign of terror (even if Fray claimed the cookie crumbs indicated it wasn't a good idea...). Your parties other wizard, Alexa, while annoying is very good at what she does, and discovered a way to make use of this mirror portal to gain entry into the heart of the enemy's stronghold. So you set off to strike a decisive blow and end these assassins! Unfortunately that's when it all started going wrong. When you arrived instead of finding bands of blood thirsty assassins you found a strangely twitchy gentle looking scholar with a dwarf apprentice who was practicing casting cantrips. Nearby you saw some sort of well dressed simpleton making stacks of books (some of which were impressively tall). Suspecting a trap you decide to take these people captive to get more information on what was happening here, but unfortunately Alexa (your wizard) picked that moment to trip over a bucket in the hallway... Your prey fled, and obviously were very familiar with the castle because they were quite hard to follow. Eventually you chased them onto the rooftop battlements where they were trapped (but somewhere along the way the simple one who had been stacking books disappeared). Unfortunately they didn't want to talk.... The scholar transformed right before your eyes into some strange manlike rat beast (lycanthrope) and the dwarf apprentice begin throwing a seemingly unending number of simple (and very weak) fire bolt cantrips at you. Needless to say the fight was laughable if not short. You got a couple of scrapes and minor burns but nothing like what you had expected from a band of world class assassins. It was gonna be easy to finish these amateurs off, but just before you finish subduing them (your gnome cleric was literally in the process of tying up the unconscious dwarf lady and the lycanthrope was already very dead...) you heard the beating of great wings and then a terrifying roar. Out of the mists of the clouds a great emerald dragon emerged. 6 seconds later your entire party is either dead or dying (or at least feeling like they are dying) as the dragons poison breath covers the battlements. Even the bravest of you is filled with terror. The dragon landed right atop your gnome cleric and new prisoner turning them both to a bloody smear under its giant claw. Then as suddenly as it appeared the dragon flew away - leaving you coughing and retching on the ceiling. Stunned and badily inured you search for survivors - your cleric is clearly gone, as is the dwarf lady and the lycanthrope. You ranger is just gone (you saw his dead body being tossed off the flying castle by the torando like winds from the dragons great wings as it took off). There is nothing but a puddle of greyish goo where your wizard had been standing. (you all start on the flying castle battlements at 1/2 your health) - and that's where you'll meet the others. "
Died to a sudden Green Dragon attack. Fray cast Darkness. Unclear what happened following. Ranger attempted to abandon the group. Went over the edge, Wizard, Ranger, Cleric died.
Possible Multi-Class Options: - Fighter (Battle Master) - Monk (Mercy or Shadow) - Paladin (Ancients or Redemption)
Previous Party Composition (For backstory): Griel - Firbolg - Barbarian - Path of Wild Magic Fray - Assimar - Sorcerer - Shadow Soul Tobara - Paladin (of Selune) - Oath of Devotion Alex - Wizard - Human Breelin - Cleric - Gnome Guy - Ranger - Half-Elf
Current Party Composition: Griel - Barbarian - Path of Wild Magic Fray - Sorcerer - Shadow Soul Tobara - Paladin - Devotion
Personalty Trait - - VERY low standards when it comes to if food tastes good. - Prone to be incredibly brutal when killing. - Will unfalteringly try to sacrifice himself in someone's place if a sacrifice is unavoidable.
Likes - - Rain - Quiet Places - Nature at peace - Things made of wood Dislikes - - Doesn't like large crowds (10+ people). - Anyone who'd harm those he cares about - Those that try to remove the mold - People who under value their loved ones Habits - - Uncomfortable around wealth. - Talks to mold. - More to polite to plants than people - Uses Anger Management Techniques - Does something along the lines of "meditation" in the morning. - Sensitive to noises. - Responds to Beasts by acting like a Beast back. Misc - - Griel knows how to preserve food - Mixed feelings on the mold - Mold glows Red when he Rages, as do his eyes. Spores float over the patch. - Child-level understandings of the basics of things. - Protective of the mold - Doesn't understand religion. - Afraid of Sunflowers because they look like Phaerimm. (But has killed one.) - Has made peace with the death of his people. - "The past is like a wood carving. It may fade, even rot if you let it, but you can't change it. If you try, you just end up with a scratched up piece of wood. An insult to the memory of those carved."
Appearance: 7′4, 252 lbs, Brown Hair and Eyes. His had the sort of white-green colour mold has, but on his shoulder, down part of his bicep, and down-across his left pec was this vivid red mold. Whenever he raged his eyes would turn red, the red mold starting to glow and releasing glowing red spores. Despite seeming like such a large man, he was actually pretty gangly for someone so tall. He had a beard but no mustache, with long hair that was an absolute mess. Definitely one of the more Bovine looking Firbolg, but with a touch of the more classic variety. Wore fur boots and a kilt, and eventually pants. Was sort of iffy if he wore one of those leather barbarian harnesses. Wielded a massive greataxe. He was another of the ones I tried to make in HeroForge forever ago (and this was the game that started with Dorlen Undertow) but the options were more limited back then so it was never quite right.

for the multiclassers with their level up to 14 there are options
Fabian is currently a level 6 fighter battlemaster/7 swords bard. getting a level in fighter means getting a battlemaster feature Know your Enemy. Which honestly I feel is underused in most dnd games, but can be very good for him where he's in school and has a much easier chance to observe potential enemies like the Ratgrinders. If he takes a level in bard, he doesn't get that much as it is an ability score level up so potentially he could get his 18 in charisma to 20, or he could get a feat. If he does go this route I think he should take a feat since Fabian's charisma is great already and he doesn't really use his spells in combat that much compared to the casters, he mostly uses it to get smites from Fandragor. There are a lot of cool feats that he could pick if he went this route, like sentinel that he had then lost in Sophomore year. Of course, there are other reasons to take a level, sometimes the most important thing is to take a level in a class to get closer to a higher level class feature. They don't have many more combats/episodes left, probably 1 before the finale so they could potentially have another level up. at 9th level get gets access to a 5th level spell.
Gorgug is in a similar space as Fabian, he's a 6 barbarian berserker/7 artificer barbificier. taking a level in barbarian would give him access to feral instinct that he lost when he took artificer levels. Advantage on initiative is good, but he's had disadvantage on initiative since he started getting stress tokens so I'm not sure how important that is to Zac. The level in Artificer won't give him much as it's an ability score level. He could boost his strength up to 20 to max it out or get his int to 18 for his artificer stuff. Or he could take a feat and then who knows what he's going to do. Of course, he could take 2 levels in artificer by becoming a 5 barbarian, and become a 9th level artificer to show off a feature of his new homebrewed subclass. I don't think he should since he would lose mindless rage that has saved him quite a few times and high level dnd has a lot of weird mind magic that can frighten and charm. As the biggest guy on the field he's the likely target. As we don't know much about Gorgug's barbificer subclass it could be worth it or it might not be.
Fig is more complicated since she has 3 classes, 10 lore bard/1 hexblade warlock/2 paladin. First off, I don't think she's going to take a warlock level, eldritch invocations are great, but she had them before and gave up a level of warlock for paladin. She seems to like the concept of Warlock, but mechanically it doesn't do much for her, the single level of hexblade is all she needs to be an awesome melee bard. Taking a level in bard would make sense given that we still have to see the outcome of her 30 or so roll on her new song. And doing so would give her access to 6th level spells. Also in regards to bard, I don't think Fig is going to switch her subclass again to swords or valor to get an extra attack. She might, but as a lore bard her magical secrets she gets have served her well, it's the reason she was able to use revify and counterspell. She has the normal magical secrets from being a bard, but who knows if she'd be willing to part with spells for another attack since Emily loves her spells. If she takes a 3rd level in paladin she'll be taking her oath, which is important to her story and what she's been struggling with. I'm not sure if she'd take a level this time or after their second to last fight, it might be more important for her then as a climax. She would get a class feature and honestly I could see it being a homebrewed feature since she doesn't really fit into any of the oaths currently available. Maybe conquest or redemption given how her storyline in intertwined with Ankarna, but who knows given how open Brennan is with homebrew. I also don't think Fig is going to give up her bard levels to get to 5 paladin by the end of the season. Her magical secrets she gets as a bard at 10 are just too good to pass up, she'd lose at least summon greater steed and another spell which I don't think would be worth it.
I am very excited to see how things turn out tonight to see how they level up.

Hear me out, 118 firefam as DnD PCs:
This is just how I pictured them !! If you have any ideas please let me know !! - All characters are Lv12 in this case
☆ Capt. Bobby Nash : Had 4 levels as an Oath of Protection Paladin before his family died and broke that, but he managed to switch to Oath of Redemption. He took the rest of his levels (8) as with a more informal deal as a Celestial 'Pact of the Blade' Warlock
☆ Henrietta 'Hen' Wilson : Lv10 Cleric (Life Domain) because obvious, but also Lv2 Wizard because she loves learning <3
☆ Howard 'Chimney' Han: Lv 10 Oath of Protection Paladin - uses his charisma to help the people around him, but also Lv2 Artificer, can't explain why but I think he would love that
☆ Evan 'Buck' Buckley : Lv 9 Wildheart Barbarian, he's rash and reckless, but he does it out of care and his love for the world, I think he also would have taken 3 levels in Druid because of that too (and Druid gives him the power to heal)
☆ Edmundo 'Eddie' Diaz : Gained 3 levels of Fighter (Champion) whilst in the army, after joining the 118 he took the rest of his levels as a Monk (Way of Mercy)
☆ Sgt. Athena Grant-Nash : Lv12 Oath of Devotion Paladin all the way
☆ Maddie Buckley-Han : Began with 2 levels of Cleric (Light Domain), when she left doug she began to gain levels as a Wild Magic Sorcerer, and once she became a dispatcher and settled into LA she began to gain levels as a College of Eloquence Bard. So she's currently Lv2 Cleric, Lv5 Sorcerer, Lv5 Bard
(I will be making art of this eventually)

In fairness (re: Al's dnd class) he could very well be multiclassed and have the best of both worlds. Sorclock is nothin' to sneeze at if you do it in a fun way!
Also now I kinda wanna know what your HCs are for other characters like Rosie or Pentious :3c
OOooO, a Sorlock makes a whole lotta sense! A sorcerer before his deal, and sorlock afterwards!
And I do have class headcanons for a lot of the characters!
Charlie - Cleric (life domain? whatever does the most healing) - I think she'd be a Teifling and the 'god' she'd be following would just be ol pap pap Lucifer
Lucifer - Would be the equivalent of a god or patron probably? (I can admit I don't know DnD lore well enough to make a good comparison)
Vaggie - Aasimar Oath of Redemption Paladin
Angeldust - Is there a Dancer class in DnD? Cause if there was its what he'd be. But since I can't remember one, I would say maybe a ranger or gunslinger type!
Sir Pentious - oh easy, Yaun-ti Artificer
Rosie - Some type of fay creature merchant?
Adam and Lute would also both be aasimar but a barbarian and fighter respectively
I actually don't have any idea for the Vees yet, unfortunately! Though, maybe Vox would also be an artificer?
