Women tend to be more sensitive than men in how their hormones are affected by the environment, or endocrine disruptors. Endocrine disruptors are things that can block, mimic, or disturb hormonal function. Common endocrine disruptors we are exposed to, but probably don’t think about, are pesticides, herbicides, and heavy metals. If someone has been exposed to these and they are negatively affecting their hormones, IF will only bring this to the surface. Why? Because when the body isn’t going through constant insulin spikes because it’s always in digestion mode, it has the opportunity to start healing itself. We all love a good clay mask for detoxification & clarifying the skin right?! Acne can often be attributed to hormonal changes that happen throughout our body. Usually women will experience flare-ups around their mouth, jawline, or neck in response to hormonal changes in the body – like fluctuation of estrogen and progesterone throughout the menstrual cycle month. This can also cause a rise in androgen levels, such as testosterone, which can trigger the process of higher sebum production causing clogged pores and resulting in acne. High androgen levels can also cause inflammation and changes in skill cell activity which can also cause skin dryness, leading to acne. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I’ve been battling this issue since i was 19 and I wanted to share some tips that have helped me subside my hormonal acne and balance my hormones naturally🌱⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 🧴Check your ingredients. Use products free from ingredients that trigger hormone levels (parabens, phthalates, benzoyl peroxide, hydroquinone, petroleum, artificial dyes and synthetic colors). Exfoliate at least three times a week, use a gentle cleanser that is beneficial to your skin and won’t dry it out, and use a non-comedogenic moisturizer that won’t clog your pores.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 💊Take Adaptogens. These are plant compounds that encourage hormone balance and help your body “adapt” to stress (reducing those stress breakouts).
