my cousins may both have boyfriends and jobs and driver’s licenses and may be renting their own apartments and one may be a nurse with a bachelor’s degree and the other may have gone to a veterinarian high school and may be working in a clothing store and is maybe dating an ugly car mechanic who plays football in his spare time and has had 10 brutal injuries this year but im a currently homeless pseudo intellectual with a tumblr account and a smoking habit whose process of completing an english literature university degree is on hold and I have a crippling obsession with 2 gay youtubers from australia. So it’s really difficult to say which one of us is more successful

It's the Petr Pavel factkin again, just remembered the Andrej Babiš factkin also did everything they could to *be* their source (aka the real ass man that they kin). They spent so much time trying to speak/talk like him, act like him, dress like him and everything. It also included his actions of course but I think they said they only "re-enacted" them to their close friends (or whatever that means).
When that happened I had to step in and tell them that they didn't have to resemble their source to be "real" kin and then they started ranting about MY source and his actions, plus they said they knew why Babiš did the shit he did or something like that.
A week after that their friends started going after me and then the mods of the server the Babiš factkin was in intervened and permabanned them and their friends for harassing me and also (iirc) calling the owner of the server a slur because they didn't ban me?? I don't really remember much about the situation anymore but honestly that Babiš factkin was unforgettable in the worst way possible.
(Yes, all of this is 100% real, none of this is a joke and the Babiš factkin and I were not kinning for fun, I'm not sure what I did to end up in this situation ngl)

Byla jsem přesvědčována o absolutní potřebnosti této sociální sítě, tak jsem naznala, že to prubnu. Teda bez registrace a z anonymního okna, člověk nikdy neví. První tři věci, které na mne vyhřezly:
1. Nějaký týpek žere chilli papričku a vypadá to, že u toho umře.
2. Jeden týpek topil druhého v akváriu s rybičkama. Vypadalo to, že ho utopí.
3. Andrej Babiš. Nejen že nevypadal že v příští chvíli umře, ale dokonce ho ani nikdo netopil. To mě ukrutně nasralo, další šanci jsem té síti nedala. Soryjako…

So... the reason Charles IV. (the king who had the crown made) named it after Wenceslas is pretty much to strengthen his reign.
The Přemyslids, who ruled Bohemia for over 400 years, based their reign around Saint Wenceslas. He was a Přemyslid himself, and while the line of rulers was not directly dexcended from him (rather from his brother; he himself had no known children), having a saint in your lineage was a big deal. Pretty much every duke following Wenceslas had the reign over Bohemia "borrowed" from Saint Wenceslas and ruled in his stead.
Cue Charles IV. His mother was a Přemyslid, but he himself carries the name of his father, John of Luxembourg. John did not particularly care for Bohemia and used it mostly as a source to finance his international campaigns (he supported France in the 100-year-war and later died in the battle of Crécy). This, naturally, did not make him very popular with the Bohemian nobility, who at first saw him as a savior after years of political unrest following the death of the last male Přemyslid Wenceslas III., only to be disappointed when he failed to deliver.
So when young Charles takes the Bohemian throne, it makes perfect sense that he knowingly ties his reign to Saint Wenceslas and the Přemyslids. By that time the people are very likely to idealize the past. Sure, he can name the bridge and the university after himself, they're his accomplishments after all. But the crown... the crown symbolising the power given to him by God and borrowed from the patron saint of the land? That's the crown of saint Wenceslas.

Dear Czech people, casual reminder that there is an English carol about Svatý Václav, where he walks in the snow and does nice stuff.
(The carol is not really a thing in the Czech Rep - I’ve first even heard of it when Hugh Grant had to sing it in Love Actually, dubbed in czech funnily enough)
Also, dear non-Czech people, this is our version of the guy:

Elections to watch in 2025 in Europe
2025 sees critical elections across Europe. Germany's snap election on February 23 follows Olaf Scholz's no-confidence vote, with the CDU/CSU leading and Friedrich Merz a likely chancellor. The possible rise of the far-right AfD will also be closely watched. Romania prepares for a re-run of its annulled presidential election amid Russian meddling fears, while Poland’s May elections pit Donald Tusk’s government against PiS opposition. Further east, Belarus heads into another tightly controlled election under Alexander Lukashenko, while Moldova’s parliamentary elections will decide its EU path amid Russian interference.
The Czech parliamentary elections next year are likely to be won by Andrej Babiš, who recently made alliances with the Kremlin's right-wing friends in Hungary and Austria. Norway’s September polls may bring a far-right surge against the centrist government. Liechtenstein’s election might feel secondary, but it could elect its first female head of state. The Balkans also faces political tensions. Albania's May elections show a polarised socialist-democratic contest, while Croatia's Zoran Milanović is seeking re-election in the second round with populist policies.
Kosovo’s February vote tests PM Albin Kurti’s Self-Determination Movement amid Serbian minority issues. The Irish presidential election in November marks the end of the 14-year term of office of Michael D. Higgins, who has reached the maximum permitted number of two terms. The times they are a-changin’. From populism to EU alignment, Europe’s 2025 elections promise to shape its political landscape. Stay tuned for updates!
