Kin server horror story but its happening rn
SO THIS KIN SERVER RECENTLY CHANGED OWNERS.
Since the past owner didnt want the server anymore
Red flag no.1:
Not giving the role to a co-owner, instead a new mod who joined to troll
Then said new owner said: "kin discourse is stupid. kff is allowed." MOST OF US WERE LIKE WHAT?? but many people took their side. THEY TOOK THEIR SIDE.
They also ping @ everyone without permission, the NEW mods. They demoted many mods because they "were too young" (said mod was an older teenager)
There is a DONT SPAM PING role and the SPAM PING everyone.
Also they're weirdly sexual. Its a sever for BOTH MINORS AND ADULTS.
I am THIS close to leaving but i have friends there AUGHHH
PLEASE DITCH THAT SUCKS. MAKE UR OWN SERVER WITH YOUR FRIENDS OK. THERE IS A NUCLEAR BOMB IN THAT SERVER AND IT'S GOING TO GO OFF SOON.

I was talking about this in a server but I wanted to put the thoughts here too
I think Zenos being the way he is stems so much from Emet-selch's beliefs that sundered people are lesser. Like it's the generational trauma that made Zenos that way in the sense of Solus' cruelty to Varis led to Varis' cruelty toward Zenos, but I also think that the loss of the ancient world and the contempt Emet-selch holds for humanity is also something he instilled in both Zenos and Varis. The notion that humanity is just inherently corrupt and evil, and that people will always resort to violence and harm toward one another because he's seen so many conflicts and nations that rose and fell over the millennia.
So in his kin, that sentiment is passed on. In Varis' case, he is aware of his grandfather being an ascian and is very much like, "I will be the exception to the rule, I will be the example of mankind standing above the ancients." Except, of course, Varis uses this mentality to justify some of the most horrific atrocities a person could commit, such as mass genocide through black rose, or killing his own family members in the civil war that followed Solus' death. Varis has this notion that he's an example of a "good" human, despite doing all of the terrible things that Emet-selch ascribes to humanity as a whole.
In Zenos' case, he was groomed to be a living weapon and has come out the other side of it with this bleak outlook. If humans are inherently cruel and evil and corrupt, why does anything matter? It made his baseline assume the worst in everyone, including himself, so his apathy is all-encompassing. There is no right or wrong, everyone kills everyone and it's all fucked up, so why bother trying to be "right"? What even are "right" and "wrong" anyway? It allows him to be someone who does horrific things, while searching for some kind of purpose or meaning. I wish we had gotten to see more of Fandaniel and Zenos interacting, because I think they are so similar in the sense of wanting for meaning and purpose but being so disillusioned with the world and with the cruelty of others that they themselves became cruel.
I think long before the "would you be happier had I a good reason?" speech and Alisaie's rebuttal to it, Zenos had this curious little seed embedded in him by his encounters with the warrior of light. It's not unlike how Lyse spends much of 4.0 both hating Fordola, and also being fiercely curious as to why she is the way she is and seeking to understand her. With Lyse though, she is guided by her strong sense of empathy and the notion that all of her people deserve their homeland returned to them regardless of their actions, while Zenos lacks empathy completely and up until now didn't really think about anyone, not even himself. But that curiosity is there, deep down, and I think it is a major driving force in keeping him going forward.
You could argue that Zenos' motivations are selfish: he does say himself that he is chasing the high of battle with a worthy opponent, and I think on some level that is true. But there is something deeper to it, something that really makes him question all he's known: "In that transcendent moment, what was it that I sought in you? And what was it that you sought in me?" He's seeking purpose, he's seeking the reason for what motivates people like the warrior of light to do good, and what "good" even is. It's so contrary to everything he's known, but it grabs hold of him until it becomes an obsession.
I think it's further elaborated on with some of Zero's story arc where she's learning about empathy, although her reasons for being that way are somewhat different from Zenos, I think they are similar on some level in that they can't really understand empathy or inherent goodness. She does eventually learn it, of course, and I'd like to think if given the chance to survive beyond the battle with the Endsinger, that Zenos could have gone on a similar journey too. That's what I envision anyway.

Big Huge Irritated Rant About The Latest COTL Update's Story Choices and the Implications
So the lore drop in the new Cult of the Lamb update, Unholy Alliance, pisses me off. The writer's confirmation of what that lore drop means pisses me off more.
Why? Because it's unnecessary recontextualization that was made pretty obviously in favor in one character in particular, and somehow in that process makes that very same character way less interesting. I think it's incredibly detrimental to the story and I will Explain Why in a second.
But before I do, I just want to put this out there: Prior to this update, my opinions on the Bishops and Narinder and that entire plotline were pretty neutral. I'm an NPC enjoyer, I spend my time thinking about that moth with two lines of dialogue. I did not previously have strong opinions on Narinder or Shamura outside of mild dislike for fandom treatment. So I'm not coming from a place of bias here (or at the very least I'm not trying to be). I genuinely, wholeheartedly, 100% believe this writing decision was unnecessary and the Wrong one to make, and I think it severely undercuts the original plotline because this was a retcon and one that sucks pretty bad.
Ok we're on the same page here? Ok awesome. Long rant ahead, and obvs spoilers for the Unholy Alliance update
So first, what the hell am I talking about? What part of the update do I not like? Let's clarify that first.
It's Shamura's dialogue. Like, all of it. For ease of understanding, here is all the dialogue I will be talking about:
"Ah... we gathered here, the four of us, a council of war and I the general. I have not forgot. I did not tell them that chains to bind a God must be forged of Godly matters. What matter of Gods? What matters of Gods? I have not forgot. The betrayal of kin, the breaking of spirits, blood spilled, his and ours. ...the sacrifice of what we had sacrificed so much for... ...shaped into shackles for our own brother. And our wounds always to weep. Such sharp claws..."
--
"He sought to break nature's own laws. Death was his, yet he placed his sacred duty in peril. His experiments... Experiments I encouraged. I am not... blameless. My soul, stained... yet I do not... Ah, The story. Yes the story... He wanted to open the doors between Life and Death, to... to allow their return. Those mere... mortals. Even though he knew their sacrifices, their faith, their fears sustain us. Death must be the end. Otherwise, what use would they have for Gods? They began to flock to him. What he promised, we could not match. He swelled with devotion... while we waned. Would he have let us perish? I could not take... the risk... the hunger... You are lucky there are none left to force such a choice on you. Hail, Lamb. Last God... lonely God... Ah... I feel... unburdened..."
And for fun, before anyone tells me I'm misinterpreting any of this or that it's left up to interpretation or is intentionally vague, Word of God (the writer of CoTL):
Tumblr media
And it's this being Word of God that's spurred me into making this post to begin with. Because prior to this, I just seethed about this dialogue's implications in my server and hoped I was wrong. But now it's been confirmed what this means, and I'm . Disgruntled, to say the least!
And since I've started writing this post, there's been another addition made to further clarify parts of this. But I'm going to go over that addition more towards the end, because it also irritates me for separate reasons.
So, let's get this straight.
Prior to this update, the specifics of what happens between Narinder and the Bishops were pretty vague. We were told Narinder was "gluttonous in his ambition," per Shamura's previous dialogue, and that they "introduced him to ideas of change" but "Death cannot flow backward." Heket somewhat elaborates on this by saying he preached "heresy" and "noxious ideals" that would not be tolerated. Heket also notably refers to Narinder as a flat-out "monster." Narinder attacked his siblings and left them each with a big, symbolic wound. Then he was chained by the four of them, with Shamura the one to lead it (in their own words).
There's a lot of talk of betrayal, but before this update, it was unclear if the betrayal was meant to just be Narinder's experimenting with death (which even then was pretty heavily suggested to be resurrections) or the wounds inflicted upon his siblings. There's also a lot of talk of sacrifice, i.e. from Leshy if you kill Heket before him: "After everything we did. After everything we sacrificed. He will not be satiated."
Regardless, the picture this painted was of Narinder being this ambitious, evil, violent God that even his fellow Gods (Kallamar) feared and felt needed controlling. The idea that the wounds could have been in the nail in the coffin to this entire ordeal made sense; as they were obviously planned by Narinder to some extent (otherwise why be so intentional about who got what wound?) and a fair reaction to Being Mutilated would of course be to chain him.
Then of course there's the idea that the wounds were given while he was being chained and in self-defense, which only seems possible if you think Narinder could take on all four of his siblings at once like that and only manage to lose his claws in the ordeal (which was only revealed in this update to be something he's implied to have lost thru the relic). I thought this at first too, but realized it seems pretty impractical for that to have been the case if the wounds were also purposeful in who got what. I mean, sure, they could all be coincidentally symbolically appropriate for each Bishop, but I have doouuubts?
but now we're here, with this update, and all has been revealed.
And what's been revealed exactly?
Narinder's thing he was doing was indeed resurrections (we knew that)
Shamura encouraged him to do it (we also already knew this)
It seems like he did literally nothing else outside of that
His siblings got pissy about this because it made their domains purposeless and got all their followers to flock to him
"Would he let us perish? I could not take the risk" - Implies they literally did not even ask him
Shamura knew that in order to forge chains that could keep Narinder down, it would require a sacrifice of their bonds AND their flesh
They DID NOT tell the other Bishops this
Their wounds were requirements to chain him. They had to get the wounds they bear now in order to chain him. ONLY Shamura knew this. That means they allowed their siblings (and themself) to get attacked knowing full well what would happen. They may have even encouraged it, perhaps provoked Narinder into it, seeing as they knew the wounds were necessary to have him chained. (Or they just knew he would retaliate. Which, like. Yeah. They're condemning him after he went down a path they encouraged and, as far as we can tell, nothing else.)
And for... what?
In this version of the story, Narinder was experimenting with resurrections, and Shamura told him to keep doing that. Then he was successful, mortals turned to him, and his siblings (including Shamura, the one who told him to do it) got mad. That's it. That's their reasoning for chaining him. There's nothing else given. "Would they perish?" We have no idea. Is that how it works? Seems like Shamura doesn't know either. Or at the very least doesn't know if Narinder intended for that at all. Gives the vibe that literally no effort was made to talk to him and figure this out. They don't even really go down the "it puts nature out of balance!" path, which would at least have some merit, maybe. It's literally just "we are no longer sustained. What's the point of Gods in this world?" <- idk babe you had all the other ones slaughtered. So you tell me
And then Shamura just took it into their own hands, leading their siblings to their shared wounds (WITHOUT consulting them) and their inevitable destruction because of........... reasons, I guess. (I mean, if you think about it really hard, they probably also already knew what would happen following all this. With the lamb genocide and Narinder's resurfacing and etc. And they had their siblings wounded anyway. For no god damn reason)
And now why does this make me mad?
Because, honestly, in and of itself, there's not anything necessarily wrong with this added context. It's not contradicting anything in the main game. Shamura knowing what was needed makes sense, after all.
But it's... unnecessary. It screws up the motives and makes them more shallow, less nuanced, more... petty. Making gods petty is cool and all, I love doing that honestly, but in this case it just feels like a waste of potential.
But beyond all that. But most importantly.
This entire recontextualization of events REEKS of being made specifically to absolve Narinder.
I mean, come on. He's made out to be the victim, here. Shamura knew what he would do, knew what he would become, and knew exactly what would happen to their siblings if they sought to chain him (without doing so much as talking to him beforehand), and yet they encouraged it.
All blame is being shifted on Shamura. All Narinder did specifically against his siblings was inflict the wounds, which at this point seems to be hinted as self defense or a retaliation against threat or insult (assuming he was provoked into attacking, somehow). Because the wounds were part of the process.
And almost equally irritating, this seeks to arbitrarily absolve Leshy, Kallamar, and Heket as well, as they had no idea what the plan was and were just strung along. Which is just kinda worse, right? As far as they are aware, Narinder did just randomly attack them for no reason, and this wasn't foreseen, and surely couldn't have been stopped. All because Shamura didn't tell them any of it.
Shamura is being made into the big bad. Shamura is at fault for everything, for all of it. Narinder is a victim of Shamura encouraging him down a path they later condemn him for, their siblings are victims of Shamura and Narinder both (the latter of which could have been resolved at any point prior), and now any possible intrigue about Narinder being this big bad guy who tore apart his siblings due to his own ambition getting the best of him is ERASED.
It's GONE. All in favor of making him more sympathetic.
And sure, about a million different excuses could be made for Shamura, or could be used to headcanon whatever you want about exactly what happened. But with what we're given right now, just from the source, no attempt as made to stop Narinder before it got to this point. It is literally suggested they didn't even talk to him.
"Maybe they were too scared" - For the other three, maybe. Shamura is the eldest and clearly the most respected one, by Narinder as well (he holds some amount of respect for them even STILL. After EVERYTHING). They at any point could have stopped this.
"Narinder could still have been a bad guy outside of the attacks" - Sure, but we're given little to nothing on that front. In the old dialogue, literally all that's mentioned is the resurrection stuff and the wounds. Shamura is the one who said his ambition made a glutton of him, by the way. And hell, this isn't even touching the very real possibility that all of the Bishops (Narinder included!) are unreliable as hell.
"But Kallamar feared him even before his chaining, that suggests he was still a bad guy beforehand" - Sure, it could! But that's about all we get! And hell, in this new update, Kallamar's fears are fucked with, too. He states:
"Once, long ago, Followers would worship at my altar just to glimpse the beauty of my temple… of course, it could not last forever. Perhaps my siblings did not understand this, but I have always known. It did not make me less afraid. Cowardly Kallamar, ha…"
Here, it seems Kallamar's fears have been changed to be more about the decline of his temple and the loss of his followers, which was happening because of Narinder. He refers to Narinder's plans as "foolish" as opposed to... idk, horrifying, or threatening, or whatever. He also fully takes on the 'cowardly' title, giving the impression that his fears were somehow unfounded, which wouldn't make a lick of sense if Narinder indeed sucked ass outside of the wounds.
Not to mention he "didn't want to hear it" when Shamura "revealed the plan," but we know because of Shamura that they didn't mention anything about the wounds, so Kallamar didn't want to hear that they... had to chain Narinder? That's literally all he could've been told about the plan. Why wouldn't he want to chain Narinder if he was scared of him up until that point?? Doesn't make any sense!!! EDIT AFTER I POSTED: On reconsideration this might just be referring the lamb genocide plan, but that's hardly better, because now this update absolves Narinder, Leshy, AND Kallamar by making them blameless in everything (both Leshy and Kallamar expressed not fully understanding the plan for the slaughter or, in this case, not wanting part in it). What's up with THAT. Why is Shamura getting the blame for LITERALLY EVERYTHING.
Anyway, my point is
This was a story decision made to make Narinder sympathetic. It's so blatant. And it's so, so irritating. It gets rid of so many potential cool flaws of Narinder and replaces it with "Actually, Shamura was the bad guy the whole time! Huzzah!"
And honestly, had the entire game come out like this to begin with, released at the start how it is right now, I don't think I'd care this much. But being added now, as an afterthought, after the fandom and devs alike have grown to favor Narinder above all others, it just...
It reeks of favoritism. It smells of revising the story to make Narinder more likeable. It's just erasure.
And for what. Like, I don't want to be That Guy, but I cannot help but notice that one of two nonbinary characters (outside of the Lamb/Goat themselves) is being this heavily demonized in favor of absolving a Man of his crimes. What's, uh. What's up with that.
Oh, and that addition by the writer I mentioned was made while I was writing this.
Tumblr media
This was made after Jojo was questioned whether this was a retcon as to who caused the wounds, as this whole thing could also certainly be read as Shamura being the one to directly wound their siblings (which I didn't think was the case, but still).
"I don't know if they thought it would be so severe" - How do I put this in a nice way. This feels like a weaseling out answer. This feels like giving Shamura an out only after being questioned on this writing choice. How could they possibly not know how severe it would be. This spider is Knowledge. This spider has Foresight of some kind. And how do you not know what they thought. You are the Writer. If you want to clarify something like this you gotta say it with your full chest.
Not to mention a good portion of the fandom probably won't even see these tweets, so this context is all missing from the story presented in the game. This is Tacked On Context on top of already Tacked On Context. It's unnecessary retconning all the way down.
Anyway. I realize the fandom at large will not care about this, because (and I mean this in the nicest way I can manage) the Narinder favoritism in this fandom is already impenetrable, but for me personally? This retconning that was so clearly done out of that favoritism?
It ruined Narinder's character for me. More than the fandom possibly could have. I mean, if it's fanon, it can be ignored. But this was canonized. Because Narinder is the dev team's favorite guy.
And I can't stand it.

I decided to go through with making the discord server! And so I present... The Portal Network -> https://discord.gg/pSANh336 We are looking to create a safe community space for much of the fandom, being welcoming to anyone who's a system, kin, selfshipper, a shipper in general, queer, etc... As long as you aren't hurting anyone or intend to hurt anyone! Come hang out with fellow community members! Whether you're an artist who wants to have another space to share your work with others, or you just want to come and chat with others, all are welcome :] We have plenty of channels dedicated to art, and creatives in general, featuring channels for general creations, artwork, 3D work, and writing. We also have spaces to talk about and discuss the game itself directly! After all, it is a fan-made community space FOR Minecraft: Story Mode. If/as the server grows I intend to bring more people onto the mod team that aren't just my partner and myself, but for now it's just us so I ask people try to be thoughtful if you do join! I hope to see you there!

moth to a flame - Gempearl SL Fanfic
Rating: General Audiences
Relationship: F/F
Archive Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Status: Completed Oneshot
Word Count: 2,124
Summary: Pearl is a bit of a night owl, or, night moth, considering her hybridity. While the rest of the server sleeps, Pearl likes to wonder and, tonight, she wandered up the cherry wood stairs to Gem and the Scotts' base. She was intrigued by the blossoms' nectar and the torches spammed around when she comes across a singular lantern outside of her girlfriend's door...
I created this surprise treat for @holymolyguacomole through the @mcyt-summer-of-yuri exchange!!
Full fanfic underneath the cut! Please reblog, leave kudos on the AO3 fic slash notes/likes here on Tumblr, comment either place, and etc if you enjoy the story :D
Light…
Oh, the light was so beautiful, so enchanting…
Pearl could stare at the mighty display of energy all night if she lost her self control, completely hypnotized by its flickering spirit.
Most moths were nocturnal and drawn in with light. Being a moth hybrid, Pearl tended to have more control than her less-intelligent kin. She was able to resist the light with more ease and be up during the day while her friends were.
Well, part of the day, anyway. Pearl was certainly considered a “night owl” and the opposite of a morning person. In fact, she slept most of the daylight morning away, but she tended to stay up late into the evening, or well into the next day. She was usually asleep or in bed by the time the sun started to color the sky.
Pearl couldn’t complain, though. She loved the night air! It was peaceful with fireflies buzzing about and stars sparkling in the sky. She was free to run around the server and simply explore while everyone was asleep!
Even now, in a death game like Secret Life, she would explore. They were there for more or less two months so what else was she to do? Fight for her life, joke around, and then just pass out? No way! Besides, today was Friday. They had finished that week’s “session” and would continue on Monday, giving them two whole days plus some change to recover and take care of mundane tasks.
Pearl had made sure all her sweet Mounders were sleeping safe and soundly before she departed. She re-tucked Bdubs’ blanket around him– he had somehow kicked it off already despite only sleeping for an hour at that point– and she made sure Mumbo was still breathing. Mumbo’s sleeping form was a stark contrast from Bdubs as he laid perfectly still in his bed like it was a coffin. Pearl would have checked on Joel on his Fair Ground Mound as well, but he had told them he was going to spend the off-session with his wife, Lizzie, over at her base and that he would see them around.
With all her ducks in a row, she had intended to explore the changes that happened this week, only to get drawn towards the cherry blossom wood stairs and birch plank platforms that edged the mountain by the smell of the flowers’ sweet nectar. The moth inside her went absolutely bonkers for nectar, so much so that it was a problem, making her do foolish things.
Foolish things like entering Gem and the Scotts’ base without permission.
Foolish things like letting her freaky long tongue– scientifically called a proboscis, according to Doc… she hoped she was remembering that right– go to town on the abundant cherry blossoms within the biome.
Foolish things like staring at the singular lantern that they seemed to have.
That part was strange, if she stopped long enough to think about it. Why would they waste a resource like iron to make a lantern within one of these games? Especially when the entire biome was otherwise lit up with spammed torches.
Pearl hadn’t realized she was babbling nonsense out loud until one of the cottages’ inner lights flicked on. She straightened up her body, moth wings fanning out and featherly antennas twitching as she froze like a deer in headlights.
The cherry wood door creaked open, revealing her elven girlfriend with ginger hair and heterochromatic eyes. Pearl thought it was rather fascinating how only one of her eyes (her right iris) changed color to display what life she was on, leaving her left eye its typical hue of green.
Secret Life was Gem’s first game so she was experiencing everything for the first time. Pearl had been participating since Last Life, when she actually paired with Scott, who was one of Gem’s teammates now. She took comfort knowing that Scott– and Impulse, too– was watching after Gem, not that she needed it. If the last few weeks proved anything, it was that Gem thrived in this sort of competition.
It was truly a wonder why Gem had never joined in playing before. Pearl guessed that she had just been too focused on other things. Besides, she had been balancing life on two different home servers (Hermitcraft and Empires) at the same time as when the other games were going on. It only made sense.
“Pearl?” Gem murmured, squinted her eyes at her before attempting to rub the sleep out of them.
“Hi, Gem-Gem,” Pearl grinned sheepishly. Her attention had been properly pulled from the light, which was rather difficult for most people to do. Luckily though, Gem wasn’t most people. All Gem had to do was exist and she would grab Pearl’s attention. It was only natural, considering that Gem was the true light of Pearl’s life. “Sorry, love, did I wake ya?” “Only a little bit.” Gem smiled back sleepily, leaning one shoulder against the door. “I see you found the light I set out for you.” “Oh! Oh, ho, ho, ho!” Pearl gasped brightly, bouncing on her heels and waving her pointed finger back and forth. “It was you! I knew it! I was wondering, I- I thought it was strange this was the only lantern! It’s very lovely, and it was all for me? Aw, you shouldn’t have!”
“Can’t blame a girl for wanting her girlfriend to come visit.” Gem tilted her head to rest against the door frame, still low on energy. “You’ve been so busy with your Mounders that I haven’t seen you much.” “Like you haven’t been busy with your Scotts!” Pearl returned the lighthearted accusation.
“That’s true,” Gem conceded, sparing a glance toward Scott and Impulse’s cottages with a fond look on her face. “They are quite a handful. I imagine Bdubs and Mumbo are the same? Oh, and Joel, yeah?” “You can say that again,” Pearl replied, though she was getting distracted again. What? She couldn’t help it! The light was just so beautiful, and she could still taste the flower nectar dancing on her taste buds, and-
“Pearrrllll,” Gem whined softly, taking a hold of Pearl’s hand. She wasn’t sure when she had removed herself from the door frame, but she didn’t dare ask. Especially not when Gem was giving her such an adorable little pout that made Pearl willing to fight ten wardens for her.
“Yes?” Pearl fluttered her eyelashes, words soaked in false sweetness. It was a bit of a tease, but Gem knew her well enough to know it was out of love.
“Stay with me?” Gem buried her face against Pearl’s chest, ignoring the way their long hair mixed with each other. Her arms curled around Pearl’s torso, linking her long, nimble fingers together when they met at the base of Pearl’s moth wings.
Gem, without a doubt, had elven heritage, if her pointed ears and graceful yet slender frame were to say anything about it. Despite the clear elven features, Pearl had about a head or so on her in terms of height. She occasionally wondered the cause of it, but she hadn’t dared to ask yet, just in case it was a sensitive subject such as a genetic mutation. That didn’t stop the others from making short jokes, but they did the same to people like Grian, Bdubs, and Tango, and Gem didn’t seem to mind that much.
Pearl pressed a kiss against the top of Gem’s head, resting one hand between her shoulder blades while the other tangled itself in her hair. They stayed like that, simply taking each other in, but Pearl did make sure to breathe out, “Of course I’ll stay.” Gem hummed contently, leaning her body weight into Pearl. Pearl was alright with it, keeping stable despite the extra pressure trying to push her backwards. She didn’t brag about it very often– except for when it was funny to show up the others– but she was fairly strong, especially for a moth hybrid, which are known to be sort of fragile. Pearl hated that stereotype, personally, but she couldn’t deny there being some truth to it. Her wings certainly weren’t as resistant to damage as she would like, but a healing potion fixed them right up, so no harm, no foul.
“You’re practically falling asleep standing up,” Pearl commented with an airy chuckle.
“No, I’m not,” Gem protested in a sleepy slur, weakly tugging herself closer against Pearl’s body. “I just… don’ wanna move. Stay cuddlin’ longer.”
“It’ll be warmer inside though,” Pearl offered, already letting her hands wander down Gem’s body to her hips. “We could cuddle under the blankets. I already told you I wasn’t going anywhere.”
Gem just let an elongated whine rumble in her throat, clearly half asleep. She had put a hundred and ten percent of her energy into this week’s session, and it was clearly catching up to her. Pearl didn’t say anything else as she got a good handle on Gem. Without asking for permission, knowing Gem enough to know she would be fine with it if she asked, she hoisted Gem up so she was properly carrying her. Pearl adjusted their positions until Gem was clinging her legs around Pearl’s waistline with her arms resting on Pearl’s shoulders.
Pearl half expected Gem to groan in protest, but she didn’t. Gem just accepted the movement, burying her face against Pearl’s neck with her ear against Pearl’s shoulder. From there, transferring Gem inside took no time at all. Gem had left the door to her cottage open, permitting Pearl easy access to enter and then kick it shut with her foot.
It would have been irresponsible to keep it open all night, even with torches spammed all over to prevent mobs from spawning. They could have missed a spot and, even if the mob didn’t spawn around here, it could wander over. It was never a good idea to take that risk.
Selfishly, Pearl kept Gem in her arms much longer than she needed to. She could have immediately set her down and tucked her back into bed, but, instead, she kept her in her arms. Pearl loved the feeling of Gem’s heartbeat against her skin and the warmth of her body heat. Logically, she knew that she could simply cuddle Gem underneath the blankets, but there was something about holding her girlfriend like this while she slept, caring for her, protecting her, loving her…
Pearl tightened her grip on Gem’s sleeping body, heart fluttering blissfully in her chest. It was a real possibility they would go against each other and even kill each other many times throughout these games, but none of it mattered right now. Not that it mattered much at all, anyway. They’ve caused each others’ respawns before for as silly as reasons as collecting trophies shaped like their heads, so it wasn’t that big of a deal! It was important to remember that this was simply a game, no matter how real it felt at times.
And, void, it felt very real at times…
Deciding it was time to finally lay Gem down, she approached the bed. Careful to support Gem’s neck, she slowly lowered her body to the bed in hopes of not waking her up a second time. Pearl gently brushed some of her ginger hair away from her face before leaning forward to place a soft kiss against her forehead.
Gem seemed to smile in her sleep, appearing content and safe. Pearl liked to think her presence contributed to that, if only to boost her own ego and make her feel accomplished. She liked making people in her life happy in whichever way that played out, whether it be by impressing them, making them laugh, or whatever else.
Pearl made sure to set Gem down toward the wall, leaving enough room for her to climb in next to her. The bed wasn’t huge– it was meant more for one person– but Pearl made do. She allowed her moth wings to drape off of the bed as she arranged herself to big spoon her girlfriend.
While this wasn’t exploring the map or staring at a beautifully bright light, Pearl was right where she wanted to be. She knew she wouldn’t be able to sleep for a few more hours, at least, even cuddled next to Gem, but she couldn’t even imagine complaining. What sort of fool would protest a night spent with the love of their life? Pearl knew she would never get bored of this, no matter how many times they went through this song and dance. As Pearl expressed time and time again, Gem was the light of her life, as blazing as a wildfire, and what moth could resist a flame?

I ran an obscure kintype server way back (2016? 2017?) and doing so is 90% of the reason I don't talk to anyone in the community anymore. Being a discord server admin left me so jaded I just went full hermit mode. So many other things were wrong at the time so it wasnt the whole reason, but the straw that broke the camels back was some rocket raccoon kin dming me asking me to add "Peter quill shipped with anyone other than rocket raccoon" to the server blacklist that was clearly labeled as reserved only for major common phobias and triggers (because otherwise people would just server-wide blacklist every character they vaguely had beef with or people's wholeass names. I'm speaking from experience. Nearly all convos had to take place in #blacklist, therefore negating its purpose) and it was in that moment that I realized I'm really not paid to deal with these people and I nuked the entire thing without a word. I'm sure things have changed now in the community but man you couldn't pay me $1k a month to moderate a server at this point.
ROCKET RACCOON WITH PETER QUILL? IS THAT EVEN A THING? that's also a very funny thing to ask to blacklist btw.
also i get this ive moderated in servers like that and it's like. it reaches a point where you really wanna just blow everything up. we can't have all this shit on the blacklist guys. im very sorry genuinely if someone's name or a very specific meme or a popular tv show is triggering to you but there's a point where if we let everyone blacklist stuff like that then it'll be like an SCP article in here w how much is redacted. u have to be able to control Yourself and know your Own limits and know when you need to step away from a convo instead of having entire groups of people bend to accommodate you. it's just not effective or functional. and it's like always the mentally ill kinners who are doing this too. basically modding kin discord servers can suck if enough people are weird

I'm gonna infodump about one of my OCs, and nobody can stop me!
There's a character of mine that I have very occasionally posted about here: Tuera Ashama. And I think... I should probably explain what she's all about. Especially since I commissioned artwork of her a while back from the two most amazing people in the world.
(Animation by @b0tster)
Tumblr media
(Artwork by @pommycore)
Tuera is a character that has existed in my head for a very... very long time. And I keep forgetting that a lot of the places where I used to talk about her kind of... don't... exist anymore? So whenever I start to talk about Tuera, nobody has any idea who the fuck she is or what the fuck I'm talking about.
Fuck, I'm old.
So who the hell is Tuera Ashama, anyway?
Tumblr media
I suppose if I wanted to be boring, I could just repost those redacted documents I made for that project thing I'm working on for my own amusement, and call it a day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But this doesn't really tell anyone who the fuck she is, especially with so much covered in all that black ink. This is just a fictional document created by a fictional government agency of fictional multiverse space cop assholes. And starting with this document is really getting ahead of myself, in more ways than one.
Tuera has a very specific origin, and I want to apologize for the jumpscare that's about to happen:
Tumblr media
Yeah.
Tuera was originally a warlock alt of mine in World of Warcraft, from when I played the game all the way back in fucking high school.
Tumblr media
To the best of my recollection, I probably came up with her sometime before April 2006. And I only know that because of the metadata from a scanned image that I somehow managed to save from back then:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tuera was originally meant to be nothing more than a villain for my main on that account, a human rogue named Sheason. She was literally supposed to be a "villain of the week" for the RP guild I was in at the time. Because that's the kind of nerd I was back in high school: the kind of idiot who played Warcraft III for the story and bought the officially licensed d20 Warcraft ttrpg before World of Warcraft was even a thing. I was there day fucking one for WoW, playing on Shadow Council, a fucking RP server.
Tumblr media
She didn't really have much of a personality when I first came up with her, beyond existing as a literal foil for Sheason. He was a dude; she was a girl. He was a relatively grounded spy with no magic; she was a half-demon warlock. He was a bitter and reluctant hero who tried to fix things from the shadows; she was a Card Carrying Villain, and a narcissist who loved the spotlight and committed crimes in full view of everyone. He was always flying by the seat of his pants, and trusting his gut instincts more often than not; she had plans within plans within plans, and considered herself a mad genius who studied magic like others studied science. He just wanted to survive; she had an insatiable lust for power.
Tumblr media
Even when she became a more reoccurring problem and I started slowly fleshing out the character, her vibe was very firmly entrenched in the territory of Supervillain, because that's all she really needed to be, especially because every time she died (and she's died A LOT), she'd come back stronger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you want an idea of what she was like at her peak of Full Supervillain Mode, imagine a cross between Thanos, Blofeld, the Phoenix Force, and Pisha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From Thanos: the megalomania, the ego, the love of monologuing, and the mad genius. From Blofeld: the seemingly inexhaustible resources to construct elaborate supervillain lairs in increasingly absurd locales (she even have a volcano lair at one point). From the Phoenix Force: tremendous and terrifying cosmic power capable of shattering reality. And from Pisha, the nagaraja vampire from Bloodlines: an abyss of time behind her eyes, a collector of powerful and strange occult artifacts, and an existence beyond petty morality, being shunned by mortal and her own kin alike.
I mean, you could probably swap Thanos with Doctor Doom and lose nothing, because her most defining feature was her uncanny ability to cheat death with a variety of methods. But that's just quibbling over semantics, especially since they both did the "Doombot" thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only reason I chose Thanos instead of Doom is because one of her biggest fortresses was in space, and Thanos is a far more cosmic adversary than Doom.
Thing is, the more I wrote about Tuera, the more fascinated I became with her as a character. The more depth I wanted to give her, outside of being just a cardboard cutout of a villain. I started to flesh out her backstory more. She was originally a half-succubus, because of course she fucking was, I was a desperately horny high schooler. But this is also where things get slightly interesting.
Fun fact! I realized that Tuera was trans LONG before I realized that I was. And, with the benefit of hindsight, it really does feel like my subconscious was desperately screaming at me to figure this out. It's almost funny, because I originally justified it to myself by being like "oh, I'm just filling in a plot hole, this doesn't have any deeper meanings that I should maybe examine."
See, I did eventually realize that she shouldn't have been the result of her father fucking a demon, that's just stupid and immature. No, it was a much better idea to have her be "designed" and "grown" instead of being born. Her "father," Venthrax, was an evil genius with designs on universal conquest, and would've created her to be a living weapon of that conquest. Except... why would he make her a girl? He'd be shoving her full of different genetics and demon blood and alien anatomy, but the base he'd be working with would naturally be a clone of himself, wouldn't it? Venthrax is a fucking asshole who obviously believes that he was the perfect organism, so he'd want his living weapon to be a copy of himself, but Better.
And Tuera didn't agree with that assessment. For more information, please read this:
Even funnier, at least to me: it was around that time that one of her abilities changed that further cemented the whole "you're definitely trans, dipshit" thing that I wouldn't realize until years later. Because at first, being "half-succubus," she was meant to be a prolific and skilled shapeshifter. But after I changed her backstory, the shapeshifting was slowly but eventually dropped in favor of her making portals and using teleportation spells. This is funny to me, because many, MANY years later, I'd come across this tweet:
Tumblr media
The moment I saw that, I was just like "...yeah, that tracks."
Speaking of the teleportation, that's another thing that changed. Long before I finally realized Blizzard games aren't actually written well at all, causing me to lose all my interest in WoW, and long before I swore off Activision Blizzard King games entirely after Black February, Tuera just... left Azeroth. I kept writing stories about her hopping around the multiverse, but she was no longer tethered to the worlds of warcrafts.
It was around that time, writing these short little unconnected vignettes about her adventures across time and space, that I realized: she's much more interesting when she's not a supervillain.
Like, don't get me wrong, she's still not really a good person She's still very much selfish, and self-centered with, in her own words: "a casual tolerance for murder to rival even the hardest of hardcore dungeon crawlers," but... I mean, she's just not a dick for no reason anymore, y'know?
It's kinda funny, because she's still doing the same kind of things she used to do, just... for slightly different reasons, and I no longer consider them overtly villainous. For example: one of her first villain plots in the RP guild I was part of involved Tuera starting a cult to try and topple the Stormwind monarchy and take it over for herself. And now... she'd still want to destroy the monarchy, but just not to replace it. It'd be more out of a sense of a "fuck the nobles, death to all tyrants" kind of mindset.
Tumblr media
To be honest, I think the main appeal of Tuera as a character for me is that she is more than a little bit of a wish fulfillment power fantasy. She can live unapologetically as herself without worry. She doesn't care about the opinions of anyone but herself. She lives without fear, because everyone who has ever tried to kill her has either failed, or it didn't stick. She's loud, she's brash, she stylish, and she does so many things simply for the aesthetic of it. When she sets her mind to something, she is completely unfettered in the pursuit of her goals, and will never stop. She's defied death, she killed gods, she's visited times and places I can't even imagine.
Tuera has complete autonomy over her own life. True freedom.
And I just... I compare that to my own life. The fact that, while I can admit I'm trans here on the internet, I'm so deathly terrified of trying to transition in real life because of... [vaguely gestures at everything] that I still haven't yet. And, to be honest, I probably won't get the chance before I die.
There is just so much about her that I wish I was.
But I'm not.
Ah well.
At least I can write my silly little stories, scratch out my silly sketches, and occasionally commission fantastic artwork from amazing people.
... wait, I just realized. I spent all this time talking about Tuera, but I still haven't gotten around to explaining what the fuck is up with that fake redacted document from the beginning.
Maybe I'll talk about D.I.C.E. another day.

For the weekly theme - hurt/comfort!!!
This is inspired by @definitelynotshouting 's HungerAU (which you can check out for additional context)! Fair warning, said AU is a Dead Dove; I didn't manage to finish reading the fic they are writing for this AU, but I still love the concept they created!
This ask is just... me borrowing part of the lore from the AU and changing it a bit to suit my less angsty idea, and to give Grian a hopeful ending in the story (not a happy one, per se, that might be stepping on Shout's toes too much, but there is hope for the better)
The main difference is that it's Grian's 1st time meeting the Hermits, but all Players still know how Watchers can prey on them
•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•
Ever since Grian remembered, he's been stuck in the endless planes of The Void. There used to be a time, way before he became a Watcher, when he was just a normal Player, able to build, to create, to feel the sun on his face. But those times are long gone and long forgotten, along with the memory of the humanity Grian lost when he was used as a base for creating this... monster he had became.
Lurking in The Void like a shark cruising the water, he remained hidden most of the time. He refused to live how his kin did - infiltrating servers, hovering above Players, amplifying their emotions till the humans were ripe from the picking, and then... killing them, hurting them, watching them slip into insanity, as their haywire emotions sustained yet another Watcher.
But it was difficult to resist the hunger gnawing on his insides. Grian wasn't as strong as he'd like to be, not strong enough to hide away and finally let himself die. He should have killed himself long ago, he mused. Nowadays it was just an endless cycle - hiding away, biding his time as he stared into nothingness, and then blacking out as the hunger overtook him. He never remembered much from those times, but after a while he would wake up, in a server he didn't recall breaking into, the bodies of Players disappearing into white puffs of smoke, presumably to respawn.
But he never waited to check if that was true. Disgusted with himself, Grian always ran. Feeling sick with what he had done, with how full he felt, he always rushed through the veil between the server and The Void like the coward he was. Emotions might not have been physical food he could expel from his body, but that didn't stop him from dropping to his knees and retching, bile rising into his throat, burning.
Fighting his will to live was a battle he kept on losing, not having the courage to finally take his life, ridding the world of himself and letting his code unravel, seeping back into The Void where he couldn't respawn. He wished he could just end this, finally being able to keep Players safe from himself. The scars on his body being a testament to how many times he tried, yet always flinched from the final blow.
Grian didn't quite care about his own fate. Yes, every breath he took was painful, every waking second of enduring the effects of denying his body sustenance was a nightmare, but... he deserved it. He was a monster, he should be miserable, he should suffer. Every tear he shed at his own fate was pointless, a cry for help he was not worthy of.
Grian shuddered, the filthy sweater hanging from his bony frame doing nothing to stop the chill from seeping into his heart. The Void was neither hot or cold, so the shudder was entirely caused by his weakened muscles spasming yet again. He was so hungry again, ages having passed since he last fed.
But there was one thing keeping him from blanking out again, one thing that occupied every single sluggish thought that passed through his head.
Time was an odd thing, here in the realm of endless nothingness, but for a while Grian's been feeling ripples on The Void's surface. They were all coming from a particularly bright spark of light on the dark tapestry surrounding him. Such a bright flash suggested a big server, one used frequently and by many Players. The ripples were... odd, to say the least. Grian's tired brain barely manged to recognise them. It was... a Voidwalker Player, gently poking and probing at the dark nothing, as if searching for something. What could they be looking for in here, Grian wondered idly. Voidwalkers were so rare, but it would make sense for one to be on such a big server.
Grian's mind flickered in and out of consciousness. He didn't have the strength to keep his eyes open, not anymore. But... this was the closest he ever felt to being at peace. As always, he hoped he wouldn't wake up this time, wouldn't end up in some unknown server, standing in a circle of items dropped by dying Players.
After a while, Grian felt a pull of something on his mind. He forced himself to became conscious again, to expand his Gaze past his little bubble of The Void.
Oh. The pull that Grian felt was the familiar code of the Voidwalker slowly easing into The Void. But... he was leading other Players after him as well? That was odd. Such trips to The Void were incredibly dangerous, it must have been important for them to partake in. Grian didn't have the energy to think too deeply about that, choosing instead to curl in on himself more tightly and to allow his mind to slip away again.
But his moment of peace didn't last too long. The ripples and distruptions pressed into the fabric of The Void got closer and more prominent with each passing moment. Was the party heading towards him?
Suddenly, everything seemed to click, the haze lifting from Grian's mind for a brief moment. The Players from that powerful server must have been notified about him, must have heard that a stray Watcher was lurking around and attacking nearby servers. They must be on a mission to remove this threat, to finally put an end to Grian's pathetic existence.
That thought was oddly comforting to him. There it is, his chance to finally stop the cycle of pain he caused and experienced. He flopped back onto the floor again, not having the strength to stay in a sitting position, now that he knew what was coming for him. His salvationn the end to everything...
But... No! No! He couldn't let them get close to him! He was so close to blacking out and hurting people again! He had to move away from them, he had to! Panic surged through Grian's veins, fuelling him in a last-ditch effort to avoid the hunting party approaching him.
Yet... when trying to lift his wings in attempt to get up, he felt that he was unable to move past the sitting position he was in previously. There was a cage around him, bearing the Voidwalker's characteristical code particles weaved through it.
In a way, the pressure of the cage was a comfort for Grian. Now he didn't have to try anymoren he was completely at the mercy of the hunting party, his fate was in their hands. It's not the end he imagined for himself, but it was oddly fitting, he suposed. Players taking revenge on him, punishing him for hurting them so. He only hoped his one life was enough to atone for what he's been doing all his life.
As his consciousness faded again, he heard voices getting closer to him. He was too weak to decipher what they were saying, but he couldn't bring himself to care. Now, he was able to rest for real, that was enough to put his frazzled mind at ease
...
When he woke up again, it took a lot of time for Grian to grasp his surroundings. He was not supposed to wake up, that's the first thing that puzzled him. The second thing, was his surroundings. The room he was in was washed in golden rays of sun, and the bed he was situated in was an explosion of soft, colorful blankets and pillows. After so long spent into The Void, those things were difficult to comprehend.
The thing that registered last, was that he was not hungry anymore. This revelation would push Grian into a flight response, but there was another sensation pushing at his mind, calming him down. There was a faint pressure at the back of his head, blocking the usual way in which he could reach out and feed. He tired to sense emotions around him, yet he couldn't do that.
As he was looking around the room, trying to make sense of all the new sensations, Grian noticed a piece of paper on a bedside table, resting innocently next to a pitcher of water. As he reached towards it, he had no idea that this little note was about to change his life forever.
...
Hello!
You must be terribly confused right now, which we all apologise for. The way that we brought you here was far from ideal, unfortunately. We definitely would prefer for you to be conscious when we found you, but we really couldn't wait any longer with transporting you here.
What you have to know for now, is that this server specialises in hosting dangerous and odd Hybrids, and making sure they can exist in peace, without hurting anyone. We have a lot of technology and magic at our disposal, and we already know how to help you.
You are safe here, we will not hurt you, and you are unable to hurt anyone as well.
We will explain everything to you shortly, we regularly check on you to see when you're awake, so someone will bring you into the main room soon.
Welcome to Hermitcraft!
~Xisuma (the Admin) and all other Hermits

🌠anon
Grian doesn't know how to react to the note. He reads it multiple times. There must be some mistake, right? Maybe they don't realise what he is. Or, maybe they were looking for a different person? Does Grian even count as a person, really?
True to the note, a player comes to find him barely a few minutes later. It's not the Voidwalker, even with this dampening he'd recognise that energy. No, instead it's a creeper hybrid, with a cybernetic arm Grian thinks he could stare at forever.
He nods at Grian, introducing himself as Doc. He doesn't even give Grian a chance to talk before he launches into a spiel. Half of the explanations go straight over Grian's head, somebody about suppression, saturation commands, feeding in healthier ways in the future. If there's anything Grian does take away, it's that it all sounds too good to be true.
He follows Doc to the next room silently, hugging his chest. There's a lot more people hanging around. A few turn to look at him - some more subtle than others. He can't tell what all of them are, but the Voidwalker stands out immediately. He rushes across the room to introduce himself, followed by scolding Doc for not asking Grian's name.
Grian can only follow Xisuma around in awe as he introduces various hermits. Grian finally manages to ask if this is actually right. Is this a mistake? Xisuma seems confused at the idea - they'd been planning this for ages! The idea of being wrong is literally impossible, they went over the operation far too many times for that.
Grian's... Not used to that. Being wanted.
This is going to be a lot for him to get used to.
