i had not seen the "durge/astarion is canon!" post until earlier today with that discord screenshot and honestly ... a writer being like "i managed to shove in all this extra content for astarion/dark urge, but then we simply ran out of time for the other characters" is not good, actually. that doesn't mean your ship is the most canon. it means that astarion kept getting extra attention and other companions kept getting neglected. that other companions simply do not have the amount of content astarion has is not a good thing, it is a bad thing.

and like i'm saying this as someone who really loves astarion/durge. it's unplatable to me and that larian writers are sitting in fan discords going "yeah we just didn't do that for other characters but somehow i found the time for this!" is kind of gross to me

The fandom when Anya is nice to jimmy and compliments/butters him up after the crash: obviously this is a fawn response. She doesn’t actually think these things about jimmy, she is simply trying to protect herself against a volatile, unstable person by placating him

The fandom when curly tries to placate jimmy by telling Jimmy he’d fix things, after being very nervous about jimmy’s anger and reaction when talking to Anya right beforehand and his heart racing so hard on the way to confront jimmy that he’s likely on the verge of a panic or anxiety attack: hmm. Obviously everything curly is saying to jimmy here is completely genuine and not motivated by anything. He obviously doesn’t care about the fact jimmy raped Anya and only cares about helping jimmy at the detriment to Anya. He’s a rape apologist. There could literally be no other potential explanation for why curly is saying the things he is saying right now. Let’s take everything curly is saying here completely at face value and not analyze anything else about Curly’s behavior or the rest of the scene.

In lieu of Stuff Your Kindle day, can we talk about the issue of how the m/m genre of books, romance or not, is almost entirely dominated by women? Can we talk about how the most recognisable gay couples in media are written by women? Can we talk about how queer men can't even write about ourselves, how we are only allowed to exist when it's from the point of view of a straight woman sexualising us?

Can we talk about that? Or am I going to get called misogynistic for pointing out the disparity between who gets the writing deals, & who gets their books turned into movies, & whose shit gets popular versus whose doesn't? Can we talk about how m/m fiction is only allowed when it appeals to a cishet gaze, or is that too much for tumblr to take?

Can we also talk about how trans queer men are even more hated by publishing? Can we talk about how we get shit from both sides? Can we talk about how books about the experiences of being a queer man, written by queer men, never get the same recognition as books written by women on this subject (barring academia which has its own problems)?

June 9, 1943: Arrival at Thorpe Abbotts

June 25, 1943: First mission of the 100th BG

July 26 to August 17, 1943: Blakely and Swartout crews, along with two lead crews from every other bomb group involved, were grounded by General LeMay in lead up to Schweinfurt–Regensburg Mission to prevent them from being shot down and spilling information to the Germans.

Note: Col. Harding did not know why they were grounded, only Jack Kidd did. Harding was not happy two of his lead crews were grounded and went against LeMay’s orders, hence Crosby and Blakely’s crew flying on August 12.

October 8, 1943: Mission to Bremen in which his crew in Just-a-Snappin’ were presumed dead and crash landed into a tree at a dummy airfield in England. This is the last mission for the Just-a-Snappin’ crew as a majority of the crew were seriously injured and one dead. Sometime after this mission was when Crosby was promoted to Group Navigator.

February 14, 1944: He was grounded after his 22nd mission to prevent him from completing all 25 missions of his tour. He eventually convinced 100th’s new CO, Col. Jeffrey, to let him fly on the Russian Shuttle mission because he would not yet reach his increased requirement of 28 missions.

Note: Crosby is quoted saying that he was grounded after his 22nd mission, not his 24th like you might presume. I’m assuming he only flew on those two specific missions (his 23rd and 24th) because the 100th was leading the 13th AF and also leading the entire 3rd Air Division on both.

June 21, 1944: Start of the Russian Shuttle mission. He convinced the Colonel to let him go on the grounds that this wouldn’t bring him even close to the new quota (28 needed for Crosby). An unscheduled mission was added on July 5, bringing him up to 28 missions.

July 5, 1944: Crosby’s 28th mission, signaling the completion of his mission requirements (and the end of the Russian Shuttle Mission). He was promoted to Major while he was flying back to Thorpe Abbotts, meaning he had to either complete another tour or take a ground role somewhere in the ETO.

April 20, 1945: Last combat mission for the 100th BG

May 8, 1845: VE-Day

getting back into a series my dad got me into as a kid and one of the most recent developments is that a character has come out as transfem to her sister (who is/was a very christian very sheltered typa girl) and was accepted. literally like maybe 10 days ago. fucking ten days. the comics been goin on since uhhh like when, 2010? yeah 2010. the character was revealed to be a heavily closeted transfem person in TWENTY FUCKJNG THIRTEEN THIS WAS A 9 YEAR WAIT AND IT FUCKING HAPPENED!!!!!! also let me fucking tell you when i first read the comic where she came out (shes a writer, sent a link to her work to someone and it had her name as opposed to her deadname) to someone i . okay well it seems i had the physical book version of some of the story and i uh. i flipped back to that page so much that the book may have uhhh fallen the fuck apart . jesus
