when i was in maybe grade two or so, there was a lockdown at school. still dunno if it was a drill or if there was a real emergency, but i was scared shitless nonetheless.
me and this other kid were both borderline having panic attacks cus thought we were gonna die or smth. my teacher had a solution, though.
this solution? give the scared children a fitted sheet to hold. why? i have no idea. to this day i still have absolutely no clue what her thought process was. but the funniest part? it fucking worked. me and this kid both calmed down.
miss T if you’re reading this, you were an awesome teacher I miss you.

Unpopular opinion but if schools took the time students spend there in the 5 days and spread it across 6 instead we could start at 10am, allowing for a little more sleep without going to bed obscenely early (still need to study and have hobbies in the evening) and slower, more relaxed mornings so less people are arriving stressed and tired, not able to focus as well for the first few lessons.
Definitely wouldn't mind giving up a few hours on Saturday for more free time overall. (But I graduate next year anyway)

hii, could I ask a question, what's the difference between advanced and extension English?
hi!! in the Australian school system english is a mandatory subject every year, and when you reach the senior years you can choose what level of content you want to study. there are three options:
english studies, english standard, or english advanced.
you HAVE to do one of these, or else you will not receive a high school certificate. i cant speak for studies or standard, but in advanced we did three main units and i assume it is somewhat similar. one on how writers craft language, how writing is adapted into different forms, and how literature is used to convey the human experience.
english extension however, is not mandatory and is an option available to all the students who study english advanced. there are two extension classes, you may decide to do one or both but you can only do ‘ext2’ if you also attend ‘ext1’. ( the classes also typically take place either before or after regular school hours)
ext 1 is just an ‘extension’ of content you study in your mandatory class, with more text types and essays etc, it is generally graded harder as well.
ext 2 is the fun part, you can create any form of written media you like and work towards a major product at the end of the year, with a couple of essays and reviews throughout to track progress and enhance your final product. there are heaps of options, people write fiction, nonfiction, podcasts, radio-plays, screenplays, poetry. almost anything you can think of! then you submit that with a reflection statement to the state markers and woohoo!!! no final exam for this one!
anyway, i really enjoyed all of it, and that was probably alot longer and more convoluted than anything you were looking for but !! here we go!! this is all the ‘shtuff’ i have been talking about for the past two years. if any Australian school-aged people follow me, I would highly recommend these classes, i had a blast even if it was too much homework sometimes. 😪 hope it helps!! :) <33

We don't really have school mascots? At least all the schools is went to didn't.
We usually just have our school name as teams if we had sporting competitions. (Ie: school/town name vs school/name)
When it came to in school sports/swimming carnivals, cross country, or just anything they felt could use house points, they divide all the kids into houses (red, yellow, blue and green) and they usually had a theme with the names - like Rivers, Flora - and that's the team you'd play for for the whole time you were at the school. (I ended up on the red team with each school, somehow)
Regarding my last post on the subject:
ok at this point I'm mildly curious so i wanna ask
