Hi all,
It's November, and, like an ant standing before an inescapable tidal wave, I have been hit by a deluge of exams. Alas.
The above pictures show a practice response to an past Indonesian exam, which is what I have been focusing on today.
What I've gotten done the past two days:
Two practice literature essay introductions
Analysis of past literature essays
A literature past paper
An Indonesian past paper
Hopefully I can complete a few more literature and Indonesian paragraphs tonight, however, the exhaustion is setting in and I'm not inclined to push it.
Instead, I'm trying to focus on the little things. When the door to the exam room closes, and the answer booklets are all sent off in a flurry of paper and half-finished answers, the world outside will still tick on. The rain will still fall. The trees will still cast patterned shadows on the grass outside. Exams may be much, but they are not everything, and the world outside them is far greater, and wider, than will ever be able to be expressed by a leaky pen in a mere three hours.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you're productive this week!

What I wish I knew before my first year in the Speech Pathology Degree (AUS)
Anatomy and physiology (1 and 2) are a beast of a subject that is full of unnecessary info for the degree.
In saying that, if possible, I would have done these two units in second year and done pre-study for them this year.
The curriculum style for my Uni is a spiral curriculum...
https://www.structural-learning.com/post/the-spiral-curriculum-a-teachers-guide
Spiral is unfulfilling at first but leads to a more wholesome and confident understanding of the material once graduated.
The additional health science subjects feel like all the same subject, but slightly different.
Take advantage of summer sessions early, you can apply to summer sessions before autumn session as long as you were accepted into the degree early enough.
Organize early. There are too many subjects with too similar info in first year that they all feel the same, and thus get hard to differentiate.
There are only 2 Speech subjects in the first year 😞😞
This has caused a lot of people to question the degree due to lack of immersion into the specialty of the degree.
Flashcards are mega important for the anatomy and speech subjects.
This is unrelatable to most, but planning a wedding at the same time as attending Uni is super stressful...
Make sure your income stream is above stable, as in year 3 and 4 of the degree, the placements are unpaid and are 42-70 days a year, 2-5 times a week for particular months of the year. This makes it hard to work other than weekends.
Thats about it really, I'll be checking in at the end of next year for a similar update. There I can tell you if Anatomy 1 is easier the second time around, and if I passed Anatomy 2... (I am legit struggling so bad with anatomy)

It's such beautiful weather today despite being winter in Australia. Week two of uni is going good, although I have to start my university assignments earlier since I have three due on one day. But I feel more productive so it is kinda worth it ☁️
currently reading: The Best Australian Stories 2007, a collection of short stories which is bringing me much needed inspiration for my short story assignment #BooklrReadsAustralian

Hi all,
Honestly, I think this is the most regularly I've posted. The end of the exams are nearly in sight!
The above photos are of my frantic preparation for my Ancient History exam after realising I know less than half the syllabus—although I blame that on bad, very bad teaching this year. Also inconsistent teaching—my ancient history class has been fast becoming the real life equivalent of the Defence against the Dark Arts position at my school, with our teachers leaving after only a term or two.
What I've done in the past two days:
about 6 or 7 short answer questions
research for my ancient history exam
reading way too many academic articles for my brain to handle
If any other ATAR students are reading this, hopefully we can all end this exam season with a bang! Nearly there!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you're productive this week!
