Fellow Aussies, hear me out. Fairy bread but with mini M&M's instead of 100s & 1000s. It has the crunch but it also has the chocolate, which I know is not the point of Fairy Bread, but it is a nice bonus imo. Yay or nay?

Eating my way through Perth (Australia)
So I visited Perth twice this year, once in August, and then again in November.
The following are random food pics from my August visit, basically stuff I thought was beautiful to look at and delicious to eat.
My wonderful friend G hosted Joan and I in Perth. On our second day, G had a work thingy to attend to, so Joan and I made ourselves at home and made a simple breakfast of eggs, tomatoes and bacon before we headed out for the day.
I can't remember exactly what was going on, but I think we were making dinner and G prepared this charcuterie board for us to snack before our dinner guests (Ray, who is G's sister and my childhood friend, and her husband Tom) turned up.
Not the nicest picture of an absolutely delicious Turkish cheese spinach pie thingy that we had at Fremantle.
A Sunday sesh at G's favourite place, the Amberton. Had their signature cocktail, a pavlov (first pic), followed by a trio of very pretty gin cocktails.
After the Sunday sesh (and a wild night out on Saturday), we wanted something warm, soupy and restorative for our bodies (and souls). It was also winter so temperatures were like 10 degrees and we were freezing. We thought a steamboat would be nice, and lo and behold, G actually had an electronic steamboat! So a quick trip to Spud Shed and some food prep later, we sat down to the cosiest steamboat dinner, right at home!
I tried black pudding for the first time! It was even better than I imagined!
Big breakfast at a cafe that I can't remember the name now.
Home cooked dinner by Joan and I; Joan made the stir fries while I made the fried rice.
Lunch at Elizabeth Quay.
Homemade begedil! G used up some dinner leftovers to make mee soto (a Malay-style noodle soup dish) to go with our begedil.
G was complaining that Joan and I were buying too much food and that we should finish it up before we left, which was exactly what I did when we decided to have an impromptu picnic one of the afternoons at Yanchep. I used the remainder of the black puddings (it comes in packs of four) and cooked it together with some leftover white rice; it turned out to be a really tasty combination! If you wanna try this out, just remember that I am in the inventor of this simple dish! ;)
This was a delightful breakfast I would make myself almost every morning: Goat cheese melted on top of toast, drizzled with oil from the jar that the goat cheese was steeping in. Crunchy bread, melting cheese and all that ripe saltiness felt like a festival in my mouth. I am salivating just thinking about it!
Dinner on our last day: creamy pasta, roast lamb and potatoes and a simple salad, all made by G. Best farewell, really.
I'll always remember this trip as being one of the most fun trips to Perth, because of all the laughter, all the good food and the best company one can ask for.
As I write this, I can't help but think about the shitty few months I had earlier this year, and then to be thrown into the wonderful company of my friends who probably didn't even realize were helping me feel better while they were cracking jokes and making me laugh.
I can't be more grateful; I feel a lot better now and I am definitely in a better head space than I was before.
That aside, as mentioned earlier, yes there was a second trip to Perth which I will write about another time.
Adios.

Two Cypriot Greek Australian sisters created a beautiful recipe book for their Greek grandma's recipes. They recreated all the dishes themselves to confirm the measurements because Greek grandma's cook "with their heart", not measures. There are Greek measuring cups, however! They are very made of glass and they're shown on the video.
#I also cook the same way 😄#if someone asked me to tell them “how much” I put on a Greek dish I'd be like 🤷♀️ “just feel it” 😂#made in greece#(it's a tag I have for Greek creators)#greek people#vintage#greek cuisine#greek Australian

Does leftover marinade count as soup?
I just made myself a month's worth of spatzle and chutney chicken, portioned into work lunch containers.
There was a lot of marinade left over after the chicken finished cooking, so I poured that into a bowl and I'm eating it with plain toast for dipping.
Does that make it a soup, since it did get cooked?

Exploring Australian Spices: Unveiling Native Herb Blends and Bush Tucker as Culinary Treasures
Australian cuisine is a treasure trove of unique flavors and culinary traditions, deeply rooted in the country's rich Indigenous heritage. From ancient times, Australian Aboriginal communities have thrived on the diverse range of native herbs, spices, and bush tucker found across the continent. In this article, we delve into the captivating world of Australian spices, native herb blends, and bush tucker, unveiling them as remarkable culinary treasures that are gaining recognition both locally and globally.
Australian Spices: Embracing Native Diversity:
The Australian landscape boasts an incredible variety of native plants, many of which have been traditionally used as spices by Indigenous communities for thousands of years. From the robust, earthy flavors of wattleseed to the zesty citrus notes of lemon myrtle, these native spices offer a distinctive taste that sets Australian cuisine apart. The aromatic qualities of bush spices like pepperberry, aniseed myrtle, and mountain pepper add depth and complexity to dishes, elevating them to new culinary heights.
Native Herb Blends: A Symphony of Flavors:
The art of blending native herbs is deeply ingrained in Aboriginal culinary traditions. These herb blends, carefully crafted using a combination of dried leaves, seeds, and ground spices, create harmonious flavor profiles that pay homage to the Australian landscape. Whether it's the tangy, herbaceous flavors of dukkah, the smoky intensity of bush tomato seasoning, or the refreshing notes of lemon aspen salt, native herb blends provide an exciting palette of tastes and aromas that awaken the senses and captivate the palate.
Bush Tucker: Nourishment from the Land:
Bush tucker refers to the diverse range of edible plants and animals that sustained Aboriginal communities for generations. From the sweet, caramel-like flavors of quandong fruit to the delicate, nutty nuances of macadamia nuts, bush tucker offers a unique culinary experience rooted in sustainability and respect for the land. Embracing bush tucker not only allows us to explore new taste sensations but also connects us to the rich cultural heritage of Australia's First Nations.
Australian Culinary Treasures: Gaining Global Recognition:
In recent years, Australian spices, native herb blends, and bush tucker have gained international acclaim for their exceptional flavors and cultural significance. Renowned chefs and home cooks alike are incorporating these ingredients into their dishes, creating innovative fusion cuisines that celebrate the country's diverse culinary heritage. The use of Australian spices and native herb blends has become a symbol of pride, showcasing the unique and vibrant flavors that define Australian cuisine.
Conclusion:
Australian spices, native herb blends, and bush tucker form an integral part of the country's culinary identity, representing a deep connection to the land and Indigenous cultures. By exploring and embracing these culinary treasures, we not only embark on a remarkable gastronomic journey but also contribute to the preservation and celebration of Australia's rich heritage.

Mystery Box challenge episode
There was a building reputation in the kitchen that you are one of the strong homecooks of the season. After winning the past 2 mystery challenges, you were extremely determined to do well and seek for a third streak. The mystery box today was all about italian cooking, a cuisine that you have been comfortable due to the close ties of your boyfriend being signed to an Italian team.
"And what do we have here with you today Miss Y/N" Matt Preston asked as he approached the work table together with George Colambris "You seem rather comfortable and in your own zone. Its like an ordinary Tuesday date night"
You gave a small chuckle with that mention "That's actually pretty on point of you to say as Tuesday is my date night with the boyfriend"
"Ah so maybe that's why you are so inspired because you are in love"George teased.
"Well I have to admit that there is a little pressure to do well in this challenge or my boyfriend's family will get mad at me"you quipped back a reply.
The judges suddenly leaned a little interested to learn more about your personal life, "So your boyfriend is italian?"
"He is not but he might as well be. He spends a lot of time there"
"It must be hard to not see him a lot since you are here competing" Matt says
"It's a price we are willing to pay. He has been supportive of my dream as I am with him" you gave an encouraging smile as you continue to chop the sweet potatoes.
"We hope to meet that boyfriend of yours because he is one lucky man because that dish looks delicious!" George says before they left the station.
Somewhere in Bahrain, Charles Leclerc is grinning upon watching the replay of the episode. He was beyond proud of what you have achieved as a contestant in MasterChef. He wished that he could do more to express his support towards you but you have an agreement with him to keep things lowkey for the meantime. It was a reasonable decision as he didn't want to overshadow your career but it was nice to know that you two are a private thing but never a secret.
He was so engrossed to repeating the boyfriend clip that he didn't notice that Carlos snuck up beside him.
"What are you watching there?" Carlos asked his teammate
"Oh its nothing" Charles says as he immediately exited the Youtube app "I didn't notice you there, you scared me"
"If you weren't too into your phone then you would have noticed me calling you" Carlos explained "What are you watching on your phone that got you smiling like that?"
"Nothing, I just saw an ad"
"Hmm sure an ad" Carlos was pretty sure that Charles was watching MasterChef but he couldn't care anymore to ask which country because there was too many so he decided to just let it go "Cmon Fred is asking for us, were late for a meeting"
"Carlos! Why didn't you start with that?"
Cake challenge
You were exhausted because you spent the early hours of the morning watching the Jeddah GP. It was a thrilling race to see Charles bag his first podium of the season so you can say that its worth it. Besides, you were able to talk to him after the race so it sweetens the deal even more.
Filming begun for MasterChef and the judges brought out balloons for the mystery box challenge.
"Your challenge today is to make the most imaginative and creative birthday cake that you ever had" Gary explained "The pantry is filled with all the cake flavors you can ever imagine so be creative and show us what you've got"
Baking has never been your strongest suit. It was all about precision and measurements as small increments can make a huge difference. Today, you were determined to do well and you wanted to use the podium finish of Charles for the cake.
It was a struggle to bake the cake, cool it, and pipe it in under 60 minutes. You felt the pressure getting under your nerves as your hands started shaking when you were piping the cake details with 10 minutes left. There was a sigh of relief when you finished just 5 seconds away from the judges calling the time.
There were plenty of beautiful cakes in the room so it was a shocker for you that the judges called you in front to present your cake.
"Judges what I have for you today is a three layer cake with the raspberry, almond, and pistachio with chocolate to seperate the layers and a lemon buttercream frosting."
"You told us you can't bake, that seems like a lie" George says as he cuts through the cake "Look at that layers"
"The layers are actually inspired by the italian flag, its an homage to the boyfriend. Its actually a cake that I made thinking about him" you explained.
"That is simply gorgeous. The cake is very moist and the balance with the flavors is that its not too sweet or nothing overpowering. Your boyfriend is a lucky lucky lucky man to be baked a cake like this" George complimented.
"Does your boyfriend cook?"Matt asked as he took a bite
"Oh God no. I have to cook or else the kitchen will be on fire"you laughed "But I can't drive so maybe that's his payback"
"You seem to show the beautiful dynamics of your relationship when you cook something inspired by him. I wish you two the best" Matt's genuine comment was a heartwarming moment.
Its unfortunate that you didn't win this challenge but you were able to showcase your support for your boyfriend.
Melbourne GP meets MasterChef
This was another challenge as you were elected as a team captain for the second team challenge. You were extremely nervous when you were transported with your team mates from the blue kitchen to an unknown location. It was even more nerve-wracking after you've realized where you are.
"Welcome to the Albert Park where the Australian Grand Prix is underway for this weekend" Matt introduced "Your challenge is to prepare two dishes: a pasta and a fish dish to be served to the talented drivers in Formula 2"
There was a little sigh of relief as you were dealing with the Formula 2 drivers. It was a lot of weight on the shoulder if you will be serving food to your boyfriend.
"The practice sessions will be starting in a few minutes. You have 90 minutes to prepare your dish and an hour to serve them"
All you know was that you started organizing the team to put them in charge of the dishes that you will be making today. You cross your fingers that the color red brings luck to your team today.
Meanwhile, the paddock was buzzing with cameras and Charles immediately noticed that there were some new film crews around the Formula 2 drivers. His eyes did a double take after he recognized the face of three familiar judges he often sees on MasterChef Australia.
"What's going on? Isn't that MasterChef Australia judges?" Charles quizzed
"That's MasterChef Australia, they have this team challenges and they will be feeding the Formula 2 drivers" Silvia answered as she was informed earlier that morning about the extra exposure in the paddock today.
"Why Formula 2? Why not us?" Charles whined
"If you want then you could go ask Ollie for food" Silvia suggested
That sets a lightbulb moment for Charles as he excused himself to talk to the young driver. He will not miss the opportunity to taste the cooking of his secret girlfriend and support her in doing her craft.
It puzzled Ollie Bearman to see that Charles has been looking for him once the practice session was over. He was even more confused by his request.
"So you want me to get you food?" Ollie asked "Doesn't Ferrari have a catering?"
"Its not just food, its the MasterChef Australia food" Charles explained without giving out too much information "I just love the show okay?"
"You can come along, I'm sure they don't mind" Even better.
So here is why you were genuinely surprised to see that Charles Leclerc is walking inside the MasterChef tent with a red and blue plate in his hand. He was grinning wildly as if he was a kid on a sugar rush.
"Ohmygod we are serving food to Charles Leclerc!" one of your teammates whispered.
"Hi goodafternoon! What's the dish for today?" he asked politely.
"Well we have a pan fried cod with a pea puree and then some green grapes some fennel over there and then for the pasta lemon ricotta and beet tortellini" you answered as the team captain "We hope that its up your liking"
Charles gave you that smile that seems to light up the whole room, "I look forward to it, thanks!"
Its moments like this that you wish that you could reach out for him but you understand that its not yet the time. Its nice to see the support that you have for each other even though its all in private and away from the eyes of the media.
"Goodluck on your race Charles!"
There was a smile on both of your faces as you both continued to go chase your dreams.

boys! it's my birthday! what would you cook up for a birthday boy eager to eat whatever some handsome bots can whip up? no dietary restrictions, anything the wonderful chefs can think of :D
ough happy belated birthday, Bash!
the boys have prepared a birthday meal for you:
some details on the menu:
the longevity noodles egg noodles that are commonly eaten in Chinese cuisine for celebrations and birthdays. it's often called "birthday noodles" for that reason. they are long noodles to symbolize a long life, so it's recommended to not cut them shorter. they are often served with eggs, that symbolize birth. they can be eaten in soup or stir fried or with a sauce.
the fairy french toast is a fusion of Australian fairy bread (white bread spread with butter/margarine and covered with colourful, round sprinkles) and Hong Kong style french toast (two egg-fried toasts, sandwiching a sweet filling like peanut butter, jam, condensed milk, etc.) fairy bread is a common treat at children's parties, and french toast is a staple at Hong Kong cafes.
the longevity peach ice cream float is a peach soda topped with peach soft-serve ice cream and a mini longevity peach bun. longevity peach buns are based off the peaches of immortality in Chinese mythology. the buns are served at birthdays (especially for the elderly) and are usually filled with lotus paste or red bean paste.

Remember when u wrote batbro who's Australian? Now u HAVE TO do Italian! This time with Italian toddler batbro, please little Italian people with their small hand gestures are so funny and so fricking adorable to me I'm tearing up just thinking about it
Yeah, Italians are funny and adorable, but I think it would work better if it's a teen instead of a toddler, so I have to modify that part, I just think it would fit better. Also, 1.3k, thank you guys and yes, I know this is a little bit short, but I do want to get this out for you guys. Also, Italians are my neighboring country lol, so if any Italians are reading this, hi!
Summary: (Y/N) is Italian. The family can't deal with him.
Warnings:
Bruce, yet again, found out he had another biological child. Another son. Bruce loved his sons, but he could get a daughter for once. Someone who was less chaotic to a certain degree. Turns out, when Bruce had a one night stand with an Italian model, she got pregnant and she didn't say anything to Bruce about his son for 13 years.
Bruce found out when she was put in jail. Bruce didn't know what happened, but he was more numb from the news that he has another son. Not to mention, man with a heavy Italian accent calling him in the middle of the night telling him about his son and Bruce having to call his lawyers...
The amount of paperwork that it took for Bruce to bring (Y/N) to America is nuts. Sure, you have to make sure that both governments know where the child is. The amount of connections Bruce had to pull just to get (Y/N) to the USA is actually insane. Thankfully, (Y/N) would soon get his citizenship and he would be able to keep his Italian citizenship.
Thankfully, both the US and Italy allow people to have multiple citizenships so (Y/N) could go back to Italy without any problems. Bruce and the others need to get visas. (Y/N) laughed at them when he heard that.
But hey, when they go to Italy, they will have a translator. And it's incredible to listen to (Y/N) not knowing English really. They weren't mocking him by any means, but they were crying of laughter a few times when there was some English problems.
But there were another things they didn't know about Italians. For example, (Y/N) was touchy in conversations. And he was closer to them, more in their space. None of them minded them, it was actually nice how closer he was to them because Americans prefer to keep their distance it seems.
And a thing that seemed like are they European or gay thing is the fact they have their little pecks on the cheek. It wasn't anything intimate by any means and it's a way to say hi to guests. Men do it as well so it wasn't gay per say... But then again... Bruce knew that Italy had a different way than Americans.
And by God, (Y/N) had so many cultural shocks. So many. The sizes of food in America... And (Y/N) will forever fight the notion that pineapple belongs on the pizza. He shall defend his Italian heritage and cuisine.
Also, while on the topic of the sizes, everything in America is huge. Cars, buildings... (Y/N) thought that in a way it lacked warmth. And (Y/N) didn't even want to think about the prices of medication and healthcare here. He knows that Bruce is rich, but still... My God.
Another thing was the fact that kind of annoyed Bruce and Alfred was the amount of espressos that (Y/N) can drink in a day. Tim loved him a lot for it, but Bruce and Alfred weren't so happy. So many espressos wasn't really helpful. But hey.
But one iconic thing that can make you tell who is an actual Italian or not, is the famous hand gesture. They still remember the time when (Y/N) was talking on the phone with a family member who lives in Italy and it seemed that the entire family was on the other side of the phone.
He was talking fast, phone on his ear while he was going to the kitchen to drink some water and get some snacks. They all watched in silence as (Y/N) talked loudly, even as he was opening the fridge for some snacks.
And that's when they saw it. The famous hand gesture, in between some passionate talk about something and yelling over the phone. He seemed annoyed, but there was a smile on the teen's face as he was talking.
Once he was finished, he joined his family at the table. Jason has decided to learn Italian. Bruce has silently agreed. Damian was already prepared to learn. Basically, the entire family has decided to learn Italian and help (Y/N) with English in return.
Another thing that made adapting to the American culture more difficult was the fact that talking and kind of interrupt one you are talking too. In Italy, that is not really considered rude since they are passionate about talking and just overall talking over.
In America, that is considered rude. He didn't like it that much, but understood. People won't like him that much and he would be considered a rude person if he interrupts other people. His family understood that it's not easy, but hey. You adapt to the culture and move on.
But still, it hurt a little bit.
And (Y/N) never understood one thing as well. Something called Italian Americans. He couldn't comprehend calling yourself Italian American, but you don't speak Italian and you are not connected to the culture of your other part. It was weird to him. No hate towards them, but to him it was weird. How can you call yourself a person who belongs to a certain culture if you don't know it?
But hey, no hate. As long as they don't insult Italy and the Italian culture, no hate.
And one more thing that no one prepares you for is the fact that you miss your home country. Despite Alfred doing the best Italian dishes known to men, but it just didn't taste the same. It didn't have that taste of Italy. Yes, it sounds weird, but it's true. Italy is one hell of a country with a rich history.
Oh the nostalgia is a worst feeling ever. Sure, it makes you feel happy and remember the great times you had., but sad at the same time. Bruce saw it, he wasn't blind.
He was sad for his son. So what does Bruce do? Summer holidays are approaching and Bruce had one great idea for everyone. 2 weeks in Italy, all paid for. He just needed to tell (Y/N) when and where they will be going.
And Bruce told him a few moments later, (Y/N) screamed from happiness and jumped into Bruce's arms, hugging him like a koala bear.
" Grazie Bruce! " (Y/N) screamed. Bruce didn't mind the use of his first name because (Y/N) was still getting used to the fact that he has a dad.
" Ti amo Bruce. " (Y/N) said as he stood back down at the floor. Bruce smile widely as he knew exactly what first two words meant.
" Love you too son. "
(Y/N) let out a woo as he went back to his room. Oh he will stuff himself with all of the Italian food he can eat and find. And he will go to Rome and the Vatican. No one is going to stop him. And not to mention, he will have to visit his family. They would never forgive him by any means and you don't want to piss off an Italian family.
