hey ash i've been thinking... how do you think ani x reader met outside of the club? i think that maybe they would bump into each other at the cafe, which r usually go to. r would pay the rest of ani's coffee, since ani would spend her money on perfumes or clothes or similar stuff and is broke af before her paycheck 😭 i think it would be cute
i'm reluctant to put too specific of a headcanon since obv reader shifts with whatever the story needs (e.g. this smut says they met at HQ). with the headcanons that were being batted around where reader was ani's best friend, her irreplaceable person to the point where everyone thinks they're together, they've definitely known each other for years, i'd say 4+. they're the type of friends where they may not have everything in common so everyone questions what they even talk about but they've never gone a day without talking since they met. childhood best friends? unlikely high school friends? a flatmate situation the one time ani tried to move out of brighton beach? 🤔 either way i think they were surprised how well they clicked

Maya fanfic part 17!
- A few hours later -
After the team dinner and a lot of chatting , it was time to go to bed and that meant she could finally call you.
“Hello”. Maya smirked.
“Hey, beautiful”. You replied.
“You still want me?”. she asked.
“Very forward Le Tiss, but I’ve not stopped thinking about you”.
“Good…” She chuckled at the nickname
“I’ve got an idea of what we could do”.
“What is it, darling?”. She replied, creating butterflies in your stomach.
“You know what”. You smirked.
- The next day -
It was game day against Japan, Maya was on the bench.
She was talking to Katie Robinson and Ellie Roebuck who were either side of her. Maya didn’t sleep much last night as she was nervous for the game but also what she did with you, which led to Maya yawning.
“Someone’s tired”. Katie joked.
“Yeah I couldn’t sleep, think i was nervous for the game”.
“Sure you were”. Ellie added.
“What do you mean?”. Maya questioned.
“Nothing”. Ellie chuckled.
“Oh, okay”.
They then heard the whilst blow for half time, so Maya quickly got up and left for the tunnel.
Whilst Sarina gave the half time team talk all Maya could think about was what Ellie said.
Just before they got up for the second half Maya got up to confront her.
“What did you mean before?”. Maya whispered.
“What about?”.
“You know what”. Maya narrowed her eyes.
“Well…we heard you”.
“Heard me what?”. Maya gulped.
“Crying”.
Maya froze, that’s not what she was expecting.
“If you need anyone to talk you, i’m sure any of us are here for you”.
Ellie was right Maya was crying. She cried because of the loneliness she felt, second guessing if she deserved to be in this camp with all these elite players, the pressure she felt was so raw and uncomfortable.
Maya pushed out the truth, shook her head and followed the other players out of the tunnel.
The game ended 4-0 to England, but unfortunately Maya got no playing time.
- The next day -
The players got the day off so a few of them planned to get some lunch in the small Spanish town of Murcia.
Whilst walking around and exploring the city Millie Bright noticed Guro Reiten her Chelsea teammate straight away alongside a few other Norwegian team players who they were playing against in the following few days, must have had the same idea.
Maya was just to the side of them listening into conversations not really knowing who to talk to as she didn’t know anyone personally, until she noticed Elisabeth Terland, who had just joined Brighton.
“Hey, how are you finding brighton?”. Maya asked. She’s played against Terland a few times but never on the same team as she joined Brighton as Maya left for united.
“I-it’s going good”. Terland replied in her broken english, Maya chuckled at the sound.
“I just left to join united, so i know Brighton very well”. Maya replied.
“I know”. Teri smiled.
“hmm you already know do you?”, Maya joked, causing Teri to chuckle.
“Of course, I can never score past you, you’re too strong”. Teri said, brushing her hand along Maya’s bicep.
“well, thank you”. Maya smiled, slightly taken aback from her compliment.
She then looked up and realised the rest of the group were already a few feet away, they didn’t notice both being too deep into conversation.
For lunch they found a small cafe, a hidden gem within the city, the coffee was the best they’ve ever tasted.
“This is unreal”. Maya stated, savouring her drink as much as she could.
“Could I try some?”. Teri asked, regretting her choice of water.
“Of course”. Maya smiled, handing her the cup. She chuckled at the reaction of Teri’s face as she drank the coffee.
“This is so good”. She remarked.
“I’ll buy you one”. Maya smiled, getting up.
“N-no it’s ok, you don’t have to”.
But Maya had already made her mind up.
“Here you go”. Maya said, placing the fresh cup of coffee next to her.
“You really didn’t have to, how much was it?”.
“No i wanted to, plus you wouldn’t know the order”. She smiled.
Nearly an hour later they decided they had all stayed more than intended, getting carried away with endless conversations.
“Well, i guess i’ll see you in a few days”. Teri said, sounding slightly disappointed.
“Yeh, see you then”. Maya replied, bringing her into a hug.
Teri smiled before slowly turning away and following after her teammates.
- A few hours later -
Maya was getting ready before going out for the team meal and thought to call you to see how you were doing.
After a few times trying the phone went straight to voicemail, Maya was slightly worried but didn’t think much of it as she assumed you would be out with Mocha.
Not long after Maya met the rest of the team at the restaurant, but as she sat down she noticed four missed calls from you, until suddenly she received a FaceTime call.
“One minute I need to take this”. She said to her teammates.
“I bet it’s y/n”. Ella joked to the others.
“Hey, how are you doing?”. She asked, but because of the weak signal it didn’t register through.
All she could see was another girl sat next to you, and watched as she kissed your cheek and got up saying “thanks babe”.
Maya then watched your worried expression as you realised she had finally answered.
“Who is that?”. Maya asked sternly.
“Oh, just a friend”.
“Just a friend hmm?”. Maya replied.
“She’s been helping me look after Mocha”.
“Why is she calling you babe?”.
You started speaking but for Maya it only came out as static, the signal started to break.
“I can’t hear you”. Maya stated.
“Sorry i’m b-breaking u-up wi-“. But then the call suddenly ended the signal completely gone.
“Fuck”. Maya exclaimed, shaking her phone trying to get signal until it slipped out of her hand and smashed into pieces on the hard pavement.
Maya was now extremely agitated, not knowing whether her phone dying or the possibility you were breaking up with her hurt the most.
She sighed putting her broken phone into her handbag and making her way inside the restaurant.
“What’s wrong?”. Alessia asked instantly.
“My phones fucked”. Maya exclaimed shaking her head.
“How come?”.
“I dropped it now it’s completely smashed”. maya replied, putting her head in hands.
“Well we won’t be on camp too long now, we’ll try and keep you entertained”. Ella said.
“Thank you”. Maya replied with a small smile.
After the meal it was around 8pm and everyone started ordering ubers back to the hotel as some wanted to stay later than others.
Maya was about to order her’s until she heard Millie explain she was going with Niamh Charles to pick up some sunglasses that Niamh left at the cafe and Guro managed to pick up.
“Are you heading to their hotel?”. Maya asked.
“Yes why, did you want to come with?”.
“Yeah, my phones broken and i could use some different company”. Maya explained.
“Okay then, let’s go”. Millie replied, not thinking much of it.
The taxi pulled up at the Norwegians hotel and they instantly noticed it wasn’t as nice as theirs, a shame other counties don’t get the same luxury as the England team.
Maya trailed behind Millie and Niamh as they looked for Guro’s hotel room.
They knocked on the door but as it opened Elisabeth Terland appeared on the other side.
“Oh sorry we must have got the wrong room”.
“It’s okay, Guro’s is next door”. She said pointing across.
“Thank you”. Niamh replied.
Terland’s attention then changed to Maya who was initially hidden by Millie and Niamh.
“Oh h-hi, what are you doing here?”. Teri asked surprised.
“I came to see you”. Maya smiled.
“Well come in then”. Terland grinned, moving away from the door so Maya could enter.
“I guess we’ll catch you in a bit then”. Millie said, before going in Guro’s room.
“Y-yeh i’ll see you later”. Maya replied, then turned back to Teri.
She closed the door behind them as Maya went to sit on her bed.
“So what did you want to talk to me about?”. Teri asked, sitting beside her
“Nothing much just…”.
“just what?”.
“never mind”. Maya said looking away.
Teri placed a hand on Maya’s thigh, “What’s wrong?”. She could read Maya’s sad expression.
She slowly looked back up to Teri’s face then her lips, but shook her head.
Teri edged herself closer to Maya noticing her gaze, still her hand on her thigh.
“You can tell me anything y’know”. Teri said.
“Yeah”. Maya nodded.
A few seconds went by and all they did was stare at each other.
Teri leaned in but Maya resisted moving back.
“O-oh i’m so sorry”. Teri said avoiding eye contact.
“No it’s okay”. Maya chuckled, not knowing how to feel. For all maya knew you were with someone else now, she felt worthless.
“I’m so stupid”. Teri muttered.
“No you’re not”. Maya replied, feeling guilty.
“I shouldn’t have done that”. Teri said, shaking her head.
“You should’ve”.
“…What?”. She replied, trying to gather the courage to look back over.
Maya moved up to her and placed a hand on her cheek before leaning in and kissing her.
It felt wrong but right at the same time, it’s what Maya felt like she needed after these stressful past few days, someone to comfort her.
When they pulled apart there was a big smile on both of their faces, feeling like they wanted more.
Maya moved over and picked Terland up bringing her further up the bed and straddled her hips.
“Is this okay?”. She asked.
“Yes”. Teri grinned before bringing Maya back towards her, kissing her once more.
The kisses turned into making out and Maya’s hands naturally went to the hem of her shorts.
“Fuck”. Teri murmured between kisses.
“Can I?”. Maya asked whilst placing kisses along her neck.
“Yes”. She replied, soft moans coming from out her mouth.
Maya lifted her shirt up and started placing kisses, slowly going further down along her body, soon going where Terland wanted her the most.
However not long after they heard a knock on the door.
“Fuck”. Maya exclaimed getting up, Teri wasn’t in the right state to answer the door.
After a second knock she quickly put her shirt back on and tried to fix her hair until opening it to Millie.
“We’re thinking of going back soon, are you coming with?”.
“Ugh y-yeah yeah give me five minutes”. Maya replied, trying to not be suspicious.
“Is Teri in there, we want to say goodbye before we go?”.
“Yeah, she’s just doing something, we’ll come back out in a minute”.
“Okay then”. Millie replied and Maya quickly shut the door.
“Shit that was close”. Teri exclaimed.
“Do you think they heard?”. Maya replied worriedly.
“I ugh, i don’t think so”. She gulped.
Maya sat back down next to her on the bed as Teri got changed.
“Well, i guess i’ll see you next in a few days”. Teri smiled.
“Yeah, but i doubt i’ll play”. Maya replied.
“Same here”.
“We have a lot in common don’t we”.
“Yes, Yes we do”. Teri replied, kissing her one last time before she had to leave.

The Underground Society of Forbidden Powers
Hey there! I'm Achilles, and this is a blog dedicated to a story that's been rotting in my brain for the past 4-5 years: the USFP! I'll post character sheets, worldbuilding, lore, writing snippets; so on and so forth! I'll give a brief introduction of the story here:
The day of her final grade 10 exam, Iris comes home, planning to go to a bonfire with her friends, only to find her mother dead in a bathtub full of blood. Being incredibly close with her mother, this ruins her to the point where she can't stay in the house because of the unbelievable grief. Her and her father meet with a psychiatrist regularly, both together and separately, and they eventually come to the conclusion that they need to move, so they agree to move back to their birth country of Greece. They still have two pieces of property back home -- a house that they used as a "vacation home", and an abandoned bakery-cafe that Iris' mom always wanted to fix up and open. Iris opens the cafe as a therapeutic way of healing. The first person she hires is her childhood best friend, Orion, who moved back to the village a year before her from England due to reasons he refuses to go into. The story follows the two of them healing from their traumas and using their powers to discover more about the world around them.
Now, you may be wondering, Achilles, where the fuck are the superpowers? And the underground society?
Well.
In this world, most people have powers, and their powers are rated on a scale of 0-1000, 0 being useless, 1000 being like, reality-bending type stuff. Powers above 850 are considered "Forbidden", and with these powers, you either have to be sworn to the government or never use your powers. People above 850 can also be clearly identified by one of three methods: a streak in their hair, a "crater" (think 1970's vaccine), or a birthmark (think a cutie mark, but not as big and noticeable, and no set location). Powers are usually there at birth and manifest later in life, but they can sometimes be caused by Near Death Experiences (NDEs, from here-on out).
Iris can control light and its effects. This means she can change its colours, create small hallucinations and mirages, and give people cold burns (I like to think her light specifically feels cold).
Orion is a conjurer, which in and of itself isn't bad, and lands him at around a 320 on the power scale. However, he's also trying not to be discovered -- not because of the conjuration, but something else entirely. This caused him to move away from Brighton and back to his home town of Karyes, where he reconnects with Iris and they become close again.
The story is a slice of life/coming of age story with elements of action and mystery that pick up more in the second book. It's planned to be a duology, with the first book from Iris' perspective and the second from Orion's.
If you do want to read the story, this blog will contain major spoilers. You've been warned!
I find it hard to sit down and write sometimes, so it'll probably take me a while (especially because I'm in high school), but I hope you're up for the journey alongside me :] Enjoy my goofy little guys!

Haven't shown Tumblr much of Alice yet so here's a post dedicated to her.
[ CW: A whole LOT of OCxCanon ]
Tumblr media
( This will also be a seperate AU so Im gonna tweak some things to fit Alice's story )
Another TW: Blood/gore warning.. The picture is kinda graphic so be cautious please!!
Summary of her story:
☆ Part 1: Photographic memories blurred. ☆
Tumblr media
Before his death
Alice Moore is a 23 year old woman who works in a cafe in Brighton. She was originally dating Brian Stells before his passing. They lived in an apartment together after being in a relationship for a few years. She worked in the cafe whilst Brian was searching for a job, as they both were pretty broke at the time. Soon, Brian found a job as a facility caretaker in the newspaper. Brian was quite eager as it paid well, but Alice was more convinced of his safety more than anything. Eventually, Alice reluctantly agreed and let him take the job.
Note about paragraph above: If this was in the actual TWF series, this wouldn't be showcased as such. Perhaps little hints and clues to the information above in the series but it wouldn't be outright said (other than her occupation and name probably. Its also worthy to note Brian is like 24/25 in my AU)
After his death
Fast forward to afterwards, and Alice would be seen pacing up and down her apartment, waiting for Brian. It had been 2 hours since he had been due to come back from work, and there was no sign of him. The phone instantly rang, and it was her best friend Elise. She had questioned if Brian had returned yet, and Alice denied it. Elise apologised and after some silence, Alice expressed her wishes to go to the police. After a bit of debating, Elise reluctantly agreed for Alice to take this to the police. However, before the call ended, Elise muttered one thing;
"Dont do anything stupid, Alice. Please."
Alice nodded and hung up, saying her goodbyes. Before she went, she spotted an old camera laying around that she borrowed from Elise for something. She picked it up and took it with her, as something inside her was screaming for her to take it; that it'd be useful.
She then went to the police station and expressed her concerns with Brian's disappearance. The officer/receptionist nodded and questioned if Alice knew anything about the disappearance. Alice explained what happened and it was clear he thought Alice was joking or telling lies. He joked that if she could find evidence herself, then maybe he'd take the case seriously. However, Alice took this as no joke and then went off to St. Juana's forest, taking a bus.
The search for evidence (The main part of Alice's story)
Alice soon arrived in St Juana's forest (where she vividly remembered seeing the facility was here in the newspaper) on a snowy night with a flashlight in hand; She always kept a mini one in her pocket in case she needed it. It was a long wander to find something, anything that could relate to Brian's death. It was odd, as during her wanders, she spotted a shadow moving from the distance and children laughing. Though, she shrugged it off as her paranoia coming in. However, she spotted something on the ground from a distance. She walked over to check it out. It was...
She stood there... shocked... It couldn't be.
Brian... He's dead.
She couldnt help but fight back the tears - blocking out her feelings - as she used the camera to take a picture. It was then she let her emotions flow. She could hardly believe her eyes as she fell onto her kneed and held him close, sobbing. The one person she trusted and adored more than anything was laying there in the cold, covered in blood with his body mangled and tampered with.
Eventually, as she was sobbing onto his deceased corpse, she heard footsteps from afar. Her automatic reaction was to sprint until she reached a big cliff, with a bunch of fluffy snow covering the bottom. She looked back, panicked.
"What do you want from me?!"
Alice asked in a panicked manner, still unsure of who the two figures were as she glanced back. They seemed to be human figures. As they came into view, it was Chris and Felix. Alice was confused as she clutched the photos she had taken of the scenery to her. Felix beckoned her to give the photos back as they could be used "maliciously", so he states. Alice doesnt budge, and keeps a hard grip onto the photos. As Felix gets closer to try and intimidate her, Chris following along nervously (he does not want to be there, but was likely dragged there). Soon, as Felix backs her into a corner, Alice looks back down at the high cliff, calculating her fall as she looks back up at him. She claims that she'd rather die before giving him what he wants and letting him get away with everything. She falls back off the cliff, both Chris and Felix panicked, racing down to get to where she is.
Alice... she's numb with the snow that covers her. She cant move her leg or arm, and her hands have a off purple/blue colour to them. Alice attempts to fight back the tears and fight the feeling of the excruciating pain, but she struggles. She bursts into tears.
Felix and Chris makes it down there. Without a second thought, Felix snatches the photos from Alice, as much as Alice keeps her grip. She grimaces at both Felix and Chris as they both walk off. Her conciousness is slowly slipping as she mumbles the words;
"I'm so cold. . ."
And then, she's gone. Or so she thinks.
She wakes up in a hospital bed, a few people surrounding her. Nurses, a doctor, Elise, and a strange man with a clipboard. Elise greets her and sobs, claiming that she thought Alice was gone. Alice looks down and spots some body parts wrapped up in bandages. The man with the clipboard exclaims to want to speak to Alice in private, in which those around her lets him. Upon questioning, at the time, as she's questioned, she cant remember anything. Alice panics, as this has never happened to her before. All she can remember is Brian's corpse.
It was weird. Alice was determined she was gone for good. But, it's best to make the best of being given a second chance.
☆ Part 2: Mending The Past For The Future. ☆
Tumblr media
Note: Excuse the angel Brian joke doodle 😭 I jus was feeling silly whilst drawing this,,,
I haven't completely fleshed out this part, but through the next few years, Alice is determined to gather evidence to do whatever it takes to take revenge on Felix and what he had done to her. In this part, Elise becomes a facility caretaker in order to help Alice and gather information for her - as Alice's first step is gathering evidence and information about Bon's Burgers/K-9 and their employees' disappearances - but eventually dies herself, which fuels her fury more. At some points, Alice doesnt know why she's been given a second chance at life, as it's filled with agony with those she cares for dropping like flies.
I haven't totally figured out her death and if she dies, but yk. We are so back.
And that's all I have :3 as a little reward for making it to the end, have some Alice/Brian doodles
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Most of these are months old but I still like them :3
Alice's main quote from the show becomes "I'm so cold" because aaahh

How to save your brain from being eaten by AI (maybe): keep a sketchbook
At the beginning of May I started bookmarking photographers who are using AI in interesting ways, to add to my Instagram collection of digital art references (#artdirectionneversleeps). Later that month I did my own first experiments using NightCafe to visualise ideas for a client. It was entertaining and frustrating, partly because of my lack of prompt skills, and partly because the "styles" you could apply to your "artwork" looked exactly like bad fantasy art from the 1980s.
However, by June, photographers I was working with were using Midjourney to conceptualise setups – still with a bit of that tacky SciFi book cover feel, but it was proving genuinely useful to talk about how sets might be designed, for instance. By July, I was seeing film directors use AI for pitching storyboards, and my lovely students at Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design using it for presentation mock-ups.
That's just three months. From AI being a "what?" to becoming a completely logical, natural part of the image-making process, for at least some parts of the creative industries. The speed of change is head-spinning. And this is just the beginning.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, also in May, I was teaching at CNC on a really fun module about Brand Identity Design. Part of this involved the students keeping a sketchbook, to explore and develop their ideas. One of my lectures was about WHY people keep sketchbooks, and I illustrated several points with quotes from designers, architects and artists, and pages from my own sketchbooks from waaaaay back in the day.
Tumblr media
Because WBITD, when I was an art student, I kept sketchbooks constantly. Not only was it a course requirement, for me it was also a way to stave off boredom and depression: it's hard to think negative thoughts when your brain is absorbed in analysing the curves of a hand or a coffee cup or a flower. When my best friend and I used to Interrail around Italy, I would draw our cafe tables and the local streets, and we'd get rewarded with extra drinks and desserts by kindly waiters.
Somewhere around the mid 90s I gave up sketching, partly because life got more hectic, and partly because smartphones got invented. When Emma and I started the BID course this summer, it had been a very long time indeed since I cracked open a sketchbook. And, erm, even though I did buy one – a lovely, spiral-bound, hard covered book with wonderful heavyweight paper, from Seawhite of Brighton – it took me another few months to start using it.
Tumblr media
Two things pushed me into finally starting: firstly, it's #drawugst and I thought I should try a drawing a day, every day, during August. I started on Tuesday, August 1st, with a graphite pencil sketch of my aloe plant. I did it in semi-darkness, around 9pm, and my hand-eye coordination felt a but rusty, but following the heavy curves of the plant was satisfying.
On Wednesday I drew fallen agapanthus blossoms, playing with coloured marker pens (of which I have a ridiculously huge collection, almost never used). This was a reminder of the importance of not trying to control the end result while you're sketching. Because you just can't.
Tumblr media
Yesterday evening I scribbled our messy after-dinner table. I used the graphite pencil, a Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth charcoal pencil, and an Edding 1225 calligraphy pen – and blackberries. The fruit, not the redundant communication device. Blackberry juice is a fabulous art material – it gives this beautiful purple inky result, and it's such a pleasure to smear all over the paper. I'd picked the berries earlier this evening on Wormwood Scrubs, just to add to the satisfaction of the whole experience. (And this morning I made almond milk smoothies with the rest of them.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other thing which made me finally restart a sketchbook after all this time is AI. I can see that it is just going to get bigger, more powerful, and more indispensable in my industry. I'm not going to worry about losing my job to a bot (I don't have "a job", anyhow), but I am concerned about what it will do to our creativity.
When you use one tool extensively it starts to train your brain, you develop habits and shortcuts. It's one thing to have tricks for making the most of Photoshop, or to have routines when you set up an InDesign document. But when you're trying to generate ideas you need to keep an open mind. To look at things from different angles. To look again, look harder. Try wacky ideas. Draw with your food. Stick things onto the pages. Doodle. Take a line for a walk. Write notes to self. Be creative. Be messy. Be human.

Animal Therapy
Have you been feeling lonely, slightly depressed or anxious? Let me tell you, maybe you are not. You are just missing a pet!
Owning a pet can actually be a highly effective method of therapy, known as pet or animal therapy. No matter the age you are or difficulty you are having, animal therapy can be quite helpful for you.
This type of therapy has become increasingly popular in recent years, and is now widely used in hospitals, schools or age care facilitations. With the rise of COVID-19, the pet ownership increased significantly.
Pets are known to form a bond with humans, beneficial for both parties. They are known to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. They also provide a sense of unconditional love and support, forming a rare companionship with the owner that can boost their social confidence, quiet helpful for people who feel isolated or are struggling with loneliness. Here are some ways you can benefit from the presence of animals and where to find pets in Melbourne:
One of the most popular forms of animal therapy is use of dogs. Dogs are highly social, loyal and affectionate animals, and there are several studies that document the bond they can create with human, which got them the title of ‘human’s best friend’. Due to their level of intelligence and obedience, dogs can be trained to provide a variety of support services, such as helping people with mobility issues or providing emotional support for people with mental health disorder. If you are thinking of adopting a dog, have a look at some of the most popular Australian websites such as Rescue Pets or Savour Life. If you are not in the position to adopt a dog right now, I have a life hack for you. Go in a dog beach (Port Melbourne, St. Kilda, Elwood, Brighton) and enjoy not only a lovely walk by the beach, but also the presence of so many lovely dogs, that are having zoomies on their beach day! Another option would be to book a class of puppy yoga in Springvale or visit dog cafes and enjoy their company!
Another popular form of pet therapy is the presence of a horse, known to help individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder, also called equine therapy. There are many placed around Melbourne that offer classes to learn how to ride horses or ponies, such as Woodlands Trail Riding in Greenvale, The Equine Club in Dromana, Alan Smallacombe Trail Rides in Dandenong Ranges, and not only. Here is the link to some of the most popular horse rides in Melbourne.
Other pets that are used in therapy are cats, birds or even fish. If you love cats, you should check out the famous cat café in CBD before it closes down in June, or visit the Melbourne/Werribee Zoo and the Sealife Aquarium to see other beautiful animals.
To conclude, pet therapy can be quite a solution for your mental health. We know that life can get overwhelming and lonely at times, but there is nothing a pet cannot fix for you. Here are some doggo pictures that I took around Melbourne to make the perfect conclusion for this blog!

Melbourne takes great pride in its varied food scene, which includes everything from delicious street cuisine to upscale gourmet dining experiences. However, it can be difficult for families to find the ideal dining establishment where parents and children can both enjoy a meal. We've put together a list of Melbourne's most popular family-friendly Happy Hours restaurants to make eating out with your family a fun and stress-free experience. These places are ideal for a laid-back family outing because they not only have great food but also a lively, kid-friendly atmosphere.
1. The Rocksalt Café
The Rocksalt Café, tucked away inside the Collingwood Children's Farm, is the perfect place for families wishing to mix meals with outdoor activities. Even finicky eaters will like the café's healthful selections, fresh salads, and substantial breakfasts. The farm's amiable animals will delight children and offer hours of entertainment while parents enjoy their expertly made coffee.
Its kid-friendly menu, which includes small burgers and toasties, plus its use of fresh, locally produced products are what set it apart. While parents unwind, children can play in the outside dining area.
2. Mr. Wolf

It's a place where everyone leaves satisfied, with a special kids' menu that features kid-sized pizzas, pasta, and delectable desserts.
What makes it unique is that children may keep themselves occupied and creative by playing with dough while they wait for their dinner.
3. Bang Bang at the Rifle Club
Bang Bang at the Rifle Club in Elsternwick serves a distinctive fusion of Thai and French colonial cuisine if you're searching for something a little unusual. The food includes burgers, pizzas, and milkshakes, perfect for refuelling after all the activities.
What makes it special: Endless entertainment options to keep the kids busy, while parents can relax and enjoy their meal.

What makes it special: Healthy grilled options for parents, and crispy fish and chips for the little ones. Plus, outdoor seating is perfect for warm days.
Tips for a Great Family Dining Experience in Melbourne
Finding the right restaurant is only half the battle. Here are some tips to ensure your family dining experience goes smoothly:
Go Early: If you’re dining with younger children, try to go early before the dinner rush to avoid long wait times.
Bring Entertainment: Even at the most kid-friendly restaurants, it’s always a good idea to have some activities (like colouring books or small toys) on hand to keep the kids occupied.
Choose a Spacious Venue: Look for restaurants with plenty of space so you can comfortably fit a pram or let the kids stretch their legs.
Check the Menu Online: Before heading out, take a quick look at the restaurant’s menu to ensure there are options that suit both your kids' tastes and dietary requirements.
Conclusion
There are several wonderful family-friendly restaurants in Melbourne that provide more than simply delicious meals. These eateries are made to make family dining fun and stress-free, with features like kid-friendly menus and play spaces as well as roomy outside seating. For a supper that will satisfy everyone, take into account one of these well-liked Melbourne restaurants the next time you're organizing a family get-together.

Contractor Accommodation in Brighton: The Best Options for Comfort and Convenience
Tumblr media
Brighton, a vibrant and bustling city by the sea, is not only known for its iconic pier and artsy vibes but also for being a hub of development and construction projects. Whether you’re here for a short-term project or a long-term assignment, finding the right contractor accommodation in Brighton is crucial for ensuring a comfortable and productive stay.
Why Brighton?
Brighton’s unique mix of coastal charm and urban convenience makes it an attractive location for contractors. The city is constantly evolving with new construction projects, renovations, and developments happening throughout the year. If you’re a contractor working in Brighton, you’ll need a place to stay that’s not only close to your worksite but also offers a good balance of relaxation and convenience.
What to Look for in Contractor Accommodation
When it comes to contractor accommodation in Brighton, it’s important to consider a few key factors that can make your stay more enjoyable and stress-free. Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing where to stay:
Proximity to Work Sites The main reason for staying in contractor accommodation is convenience. You want to be close to the job site to minimize travel time. Fortunately, Brighton’s well-connected transport system makes it easy to find accommodation that’s either within walking distance or a short drive from construction zones. You can find contractor accommodation in neighborhoods like Hove, Kemp Town, and the city center, all of which are within easy reach of various worksites.
Self-Catering Facilities Many contractors prefer to have self-catering options so they can prepare their meals after a long day of hard work. With fully-equipped kitchens, you’ll be able to save money on dining out while enjoying home-cooked meals. Self-catering properties offer the added benefit of flexibility, allowing you to unwind at your own pace.
Flexible Lease Terms Contractors often need accommodation for varying periods, from a few days to several months. Therefore, flexible lease terms are a must. Look for accommodation providers in Brighton that offer short-term rentals, as they cater specifically to contractors who need temporary housing for the duration of their assignments.
Comfortable Living Space While you’re working hard, it’s essential to have a comfortable space where you can rest and recharge. A good contractor accommodation should have comfortable beds, ample storage, and a clean, well-maintained environment. After a long day on-site, you’ll want a space where you can relax, so choosing accommodation with great amenities, such as Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, and parking, will make your stay even more pleasant.
Affordable Rates One of the biggest considerations for contractors is budget. While you want a comfortable place to stay, you also need to make sure it’s affordable. Look for accommodation that offers competitive rates without compromising on quality. Many accommodation providers in Brighton offer tailored pricing for contractors, ensuring you get the best value for your money.
Top Areas for Contractor Accommodation in Brighton
When looking for contractor accommodation in Brighton, certain areas stand out for their accessibility, local amenities, and overall convenience.
Hove: A popular choice for contractors, Hove offers a mix of quiet residential streets and easy access to Brighton’s bustling center. The area is well-connected by public transport and offers plenty of cafes, shops, and green spaces to unwind after work.
Central Brighton: If you prefer to be in the heart of the action, central Brighton offers a variety of contractor accommodations close to major construction projects. It’s also within walking distance to the beach, shops, and numerous restaurants, making it an ideal spot for downtime.
Kemp Town: Known for its residential atmosphere, Kemp Town provides a quieter option with easy access to Brighton’s key locations. This area is perfect for contractors looking for a more peaceful environment while still being close to work.
Making Your Stay Comfortable and Productive
Finding the right contractor accommodation in Brighton goes beyond just having a roof over your head. A well-located and comfortable place to stay can significantly impact your overall productivity and well-being. By considering key factors such as location, amenities, and price, you can find accommodation that not only supports your work but enhances your stay in this beautiful seaside city.

Maximising Profits: A Guide to Effective Short Rental Management in Melbourne
Melbourne, known for its vibrant culture, diverse population, and world-class attractions, has become a hotspot for short-term rentals. Property owners and investors are capitalizing on this trend, turning homes and apartments into lucrative short-term rental properties. However, the key to maximizing profits lies in effective Melbourne short rental management. This guide aims to provide actionable tips for property owners to optimize their short-term rental operations, ensuring they not only attract guests but also maximize their revenue.
Understanding the Melbourne Short-Term Rental Market
Overview of the Current Market Trends
The short-term rental market in Melbourne is booming. With the rise of platforms like Airbnb and Booking.com, travelers increasingly prefer the personalized and unique experiences that short-term rentals offer over traditional hotels. Recent trends indicate a steady growth in demand, especially in areas close to major events and attractions. The market is also seeing a shift towards longer stays, driven by remote work and digital nomadism, making it essential for property owners to adapt their strategies accordingly.
Popular Areas for Short-Term Rentals in Melbourne
Melbourne boasts several prime locations for short-term rentals. The CBD remains a top choice due to its proximity to business districts, entertainment venues, and public transport. Suburbs like Fitzroy, St Kilda, and South Yarra are also popular, offering a mix of trendy cafes, boutiques, and nightlife. Coastal areas such as Brighton and Port Melbourne attract guests seeking a beachside retreat, while inner-city suburbs like Carlton and Richmond are favored for their cultural and dining experiences.
Key Demographics and Target Audiences
Understanding your target audience is crucial for effective Melbourne short rental management. The primary demographics include tourists, business travelers, and students. Families looking for vacation rentals and digital nomads seeking longer stays are also significant segments. Tailoring your property to meet the needs of these groups, whether through specific amenities or marketing strategies, can significantly boost your booking rates and profitability.
Setting Up Your Property for Success
Furnishing and Decorating Tips to Attract Guests
First impressions matter. A well-furnished and aesthetically pleasing property can attract more bookings and justify higher rates. Opt for a modern, clean, and functional design. Choose durable furniture that can withstand frequent use, and incorporate elements that reflect Melbourne’s unique charm. Adding local artwork, comfortable bedding, and thoughtful touches like indoor plants can create a welcoming atmosphere that resonates with guests.
Importance of Professional Staging and Photography
Professional staging and photography are critical components of successful short-term rental listings. High-quality photos can significantly impact a guest’s decision to book your property. Consider hiring a professional photographer who specializes in real estate to capture your space in the best light. Staging your property to highlight its best features can also make a substantial difference, showcasing its potential and appealing to a broader audience.
Essential Amenities to Offer for a Competitive Edge
Offering essential amenities can give your property a competitive edge. Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, and fully equipped kitchens are basics that guests expect. Additional perks like coffee machines, laundry facilities, and entertainment options (e.g., Netflix, board games) can enhance the guest experience. Providing toiletries, extra linens, and a welcome pack with local recommendations can also leave a lasting impression and encourage positive reviews.
Pricing Strategies
Dynamic Pricing: How to Adjust Rates Based on Demand
Dynamic pricing involves adjusting your rates based on demand, seasonality, and local events. Use tools like Airbnb’s Smart Pricing or third-party software to automate rate adjustments. By monitoring market trends and competitor pricing, you can set optimal rates that maximize occupancy and revenue. During high-demand periods, such as major sporting events or festivals, increasing your rates can significantly boost profits.
Using Pricing Tools and Software
Pricing tools and software can streamline your pricing strategy. Platforms like Beyond Pricing, PriceLabs, and Wheelhouse offer insights into market trends and competitor rates, helping you set competitive prices. These tools can also automate rate adjustments, ensuring your property remains competitively priced without constant manual intervention.
Offering Discounts and Special Deals to Attract Longer Stays
Offering discounts and special deals can attract longer stays, which are often more profitable and less time-consuming to manage. Weekly and monthly discounts can appeal to business travelers, remote workers, and families. Special deals during off-peak seasons can also help maintain steady bookings. Highlight these offers in your listings to attract guests looking for extended stays.
Marketing Your Property
Effective Use of Online Platforms
Online platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, and Vrbo are essential for marketing your short-term rental. Ensure your property is listed on multiple platforms to reach a broader audience. Optimize your listings with detailed descriptions, high-quality photos, and accurate information. Respond promptly to inquiries and maintain a high rating to improve your property’s visibility in search results.
Creating Compelling Property Listings
Creating compelling property listings is an art. Write engaging descriptions that highlight your property’s unique features and benefits. Use descriptive language to paint a vivid picture for potential guests. Include key information such as location, amenities, and nearby attractions. Incorporate keywords like "Melbourne short rental management" to improve search engine optimization and attract more views.
Utilizing Social Media and Local Advertising
Social media is a powerful tool for marketing your short-term rental. Create accounts on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to showcase your property. Share high-quality photos, guest testimonials, and local tips to engage potential guests. Collaborate with local influencers and tourism boards to reach a wider audience. Local advertising, such as listing in tourism guides and collaborating with nearby businesses, can also drive bookings.
Leveraging Guest Reviews and Testimonials
Guest reviews and testimonials are invaluable for building credibility and attracting new bookings. Encourage guests to leave reviews by providing excellent service and following up with a polite request. Highlight positive reviews in your listings and on social media. Address any negative feedback promptly and professionally to demonstrate your commitment to guest satisfaction.
Streamlining Operations and Guest Experience
Implementing Efficient Check-In and Check-Out Processes
Efficient check-in and check-out processes are crucial for guest satisfaction. Consider implementing self-check-in options like keyless entry systems or lockboxes to offer flexibility. Provide clear instructions and communicate these details in advance. Ensure the check-out process is simple and straightforward, with clear guidelines on what guests need to do before leaving.
Communication Tips for Interacting with Guests
Effective communication is key to a positive guest experience. Be responsive and available to answer questions before and during their stay. Use messaging platforms provided by booking sites to keep all communications in one place. Personalize your interactions by addressing guests by name and tailoring your messages to their needs. Providing a local guide or personalized recommendations can enhance their stay and leave a lasting impression.
Ensuring High Standards of Cleanliness and Maintenance
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and maintenance is non-negotiable. Hire professional cleaning services to ensure your property is spotless between guests. Regularly inspect the property for any maintenance issues and address them promptly. Provide cleaning supplies and instructions for guests to use during their stay. A clean and well-maintained property can lead to positive reviews and repeat bookings.
Providing Exceptional Customer Service to Encourage Repeat Bookings
Exceptional customer service can set your property apart and encourage repeat bookings. Go the extra mile by offering personalized touches, such as a welcome note or a small gift. Be proactive in addressing any issues and ensure guests feel valued and appreciated. Follow up after their stay to thank them and invite them to return. Building a rapport with guests can lead to long-term relationships and consistent bookings.
Legal Considerations and Compliance
Understanding Melbourne’s Short-Term Rental Regulations
Navigating Melbourne’s short-term rental regulations is essential for staying compliant. Familiarize yourself with local laws and zoning regulations that apply to short-term rentals. Some areas may have restrictions on the number of days you can rent out your property or require permits. Staying informed about these regulations can prevent legal issues and fines.
Licensing and Registration Requirements
Depending on your location, you may need to obtain a license or register your property as a short-term rental. Check with your local council for specific requirements. Completing the necessary paperwork and displaying your registration number in your listings can demonstrate your commitment to legal compliance and build trust with guests.
Ensuring Insurance Coverage for Short-Term Rentals
Insurance is a critical consideration for short-term rentals. Standard homeowner’s insurance may not cover short-term rental activities. Look for specialized short-term rental insurance that provides coverage for property damage, liability, and loss of income. Having the right insurance can protect you from potential risks and give you peace of mind.
Managing Finances
Tracking Expenses and Revenues
Effective financial management involves tracking your expenses and revenues meticulously. Use accounting software or spreadsheets to record all income and expenses related to your short-term rental. This includes booking fees, cleaning costs, maintenance expenses, and utilities. Regularly review your financial statements to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Budgeting for Maintenance and Upgrades
Budgeting for maintenance and upgrades is essential for keeping your property in top condition and competitive in the market. Set aside a portion of your rental income for regular maintenance and unexpected repairs. Plan for periodic upgrades to furniture, appliances, and decor to keep your property appealing to guests. Investing in your property can lead to higher occupancy rates and increased revenue.
Tax Considerations for Short-Term Rental Income
Understanding tax considerations is crucial for short-term rental income. Keep accurate records of all income and expenses to report on your tax returns. Consult with a tax professional to ensure you’re aware of any deductions you may be eligible for, such as mortgage interest, property taxes, and depreciation. Staying compliant with tax regulations can prevent penalties and maximize your after-tax profits.
Leveraging Technology for Management
Property Management Software and Tools
Leveraging property management software and tools can streamline your operations. Platforms like Guesty, Hostfully, and Lodgify offer features for managing bookings, payments, and communications. These tools can automate routine tasks, saving you time and reducing the risk of errors. Explore the available options to find a solution that fits your needs and budget.
Automation of Bookings, Payments, and Communications
Automation can significantly enhance your efficiency in managing short-term rentals. Automated booking systems can synchronize your listings across multiple platforms, reducing the risk of double bookings. Automated payment systems ensure timely collection of rental fees and security deposits. Automated communication tools can send confirmation emails, check-in instructions, and follow-up messages, improving the guest experience.
Smart Home Devices to Enhance Guest Experience
Smart home devices can elevate the guest experience and improve your property’s appeal. Keyless entry systems, smart thermostats, and smart lighting can provide convenience and comfort for guests. Devices like noise monitors and security cameras can help you manage your property more effectively and ensure guest safety. Investing in smart technology can lead to positive reviews and repeat bookings.
Partnering with Professionals
Benefits of Hiring a Property Management Company
Hiring a property management company can take the hassle out of managing your short-term rental. These professionals can handle everything from marketing and bookings to guest communications and maintenance. While this service comes at a cost, it can save you time and reduce stress, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your life or business.
How to Choose the Right Property Manager
Choosing the right property manager is crucial for successful Melbourne short rental management. Look for a company with experience in managing short-term rentals and a proven track record of success. Check reviews and ask for references to ensure they provide high-quality service. Discuss their fees and services in detail to understand what you’re getting for your investment.
Outsourcing Cleaning and Maintenance Services
Outsourcing cleaning and maintenance services can ensure your property remains in top condition. Professional cleaning services can maintain high standards of cleanliness between guests. Hiring maintenance professionals can address repairs and upgrades promptly. Establish a reliable network of service providers to handle these tasks efficiently and cost-effectively.

hi angel!! it’s sage !!
what was the best thing you and em did on your trip? :) i hope you both had the best time !!
still not been able to convince my gf to take me to brighton yet >_<
-sage !
Omg I’ve just replied to your other ask.
SAGE !! You’re finally off anon! I actually feel so privileged like <3 wow bffs forever <3
We had an amazing time !! It was all lovely, but I think my two favourite things we did as an activity was probably visiting The upside-down house, and going to photomatic and taking these really cute photobooth photos.
The pier was fun too, but it loses points for giving me a wet ass from going on the log ride. And the beach?? Was so cool. Em went on this zip wire across the beach and I genuinely thought I was going to be widowed for a moment.
I think you’re really enjoy the hello Kitty cafe, and going around the town. There were so many interesting shops and cafes and such. I know you’d have such a good time.
I’ll convince your gf !! Put me on the phone.
