There are realtors whose whole entire client base are downsizing, aging boomers.
These realtors are actual saints and they all get into the Good Place by default. Because their clients are deeply needy and incredibly difficult humans, these realtors do full-service moves.
FULL-SERVICE MOVES, PEOPLE. We're talking landscape maintenance, possessions organizers and managers, professional packing and moving services, even hiring and overseeing housekeeping services.
I am at my wits' end with my father - a widower with undiagnosed autism, enough untreated trauma to drive a psychiatrist to drink themself to death, and a unchecked and paralyzing case of learned helplessness - and have had to go low-contact for my sanity. I am not exaggerating when I say that my father's realtor is handling absolutely every facet of this move except the emotional labor, and thats a job Ive handed back to my father rather unceremoniously.
This realtor is a legitimate blessing from God. AND I AM AN ATHEIST. Do you know how hard it is to receive a blessing from somebody else's deity??? I'm going to suggest dad writes him into the will. I'm not even joking.
If you are one of these humans, or if you know one of these humans. Please know you're actually saving actual lives, and words cannot express how valuable you are. Thank you for existing.

The crowd found this amusing. Perturabo scowled at them. He had not intended to be funny.

#I've played with irl atheists and catholics and everything in between#but it rarely feels like faith is a real factor for anyone-- DM or player#outside of‚ again‚ divine spellcasters and Big Epic Plot Things#I mean there are a couple of 'RAAAHGH FUCK THE GODS >:C' edgy backstory types but#no one is just Normally Culturally Religious and it's WEIRD#like it's not even a matter of faith in dnd! the gods are LITERALLY OBJECTIVELY PROVABLY REAL#so what does that MEAN for the average person! how does it shape language? business? culture?#where are the people wearing holy symbols like amulets-- or the way modern christians very casually wear crosses?#blessings over meals? prayers before bed? burnt offerings?#and like I enjoy thinking about world and culture building but I know that's A Whole Thing but even just like...#it doesn't feel like anyone believes in gods at all except clerics and paladins#like they DO because they factually exist but in the same way I 'believe in' like. the president of france.#like yeah he exists and is important to some people but has no bearing on my life whatsoever#that's such a fucking weird approach to the DIVINE in a polytheist world where those gods are YOUR CULTURE'S GODS??#I am bad at this myself but I'm not religious so it's harder for me to remember what Being Religious All The Time Casually is like lol#funny enough my character with the most intentionally religious background in this sense#is one of my ones who's ended up wrapped up in Big Plot God Things lmao#'aubree starts the campaign with a holy symbol of yondalla because of course she does why wouldn't she'#'oh okay well she's gonna get deeply and personally entangled with a bunch of death gods immediately' fdkjghkdf oh!! welp#you don't really pray to urogalan unless you're breaking ground for a new building or someone just died so it's STILL weird for her lol#but at least I had the framework there of 'oh yeah the gods exist and matter to me and my everyday life and culture' in general#about me#posts from twitter

I prayed for help from God in my sickness and God blessed me with relief
I was sick last night, headache, fever and fatigue, so I prayed to God for healing in this and promised I'd give praise and thanks, so I am. I praise and thank God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit for my healing!

it is absolutely fucking insane that there is 0 religious presence throughout the entire series. why is the future COMPLETELY irreligious. you’re telling me no buddhist shrines survived world war 4? the kaaba completely demolished? jerusalem completely nonexistent? catholic missionary churches completely erased from south america?

Being raised in an atheist household has actually strengthened my love and appreciation of Christ because even as a nonbeliever child I still could feel his presence when in need!

okay hua cheng’s desi origin agenda is here:
so the other day i was visiting the golden temple (harminder sahib, one of the spiritual centres for sikhism in this country) and i saw a nihang sikh on the way. and damn.
his turban was embellished in silver, with a silver crescent, chains, even his knee length tunic had a silver belt with his khanjar looping around him in a silver chain, and he jingled when he (i’m trying so hard to not use an honorific “they” re: my mother) walked.
that reminds me of my boy hua hua; the history of the nihang sikhs just adds to it. they’re a sort of a religious fighting sect (HUAHUA) and they’re also called akaali (beyond time, subject only to god) and my god does it fit hua cheng. my only question is about how that got introduced to a chinese kid, because indian devotion and religion have a LOT of stuff about belonging to and loving your god (i’ll write another post about it sometime)
just,,,, the way a chinese kid, a third son (playing into the widespread belief that the eldest sons were asked to enlist), has a lot of similarities to a religious order in a different place, of a different era. absolutely insane

what are your thoughts on samruby?
thank you for sending this! and OH BOY i wrote a lot. i'm so sorry. i'm putting it under a cut for everyone's sanity.
see, the thing about samruby to me is the religiosity of it all. it's about a victim unknowingly initiated into a cult. it's about a holy lamb being raised for slaughter.
firstly i can't discuss it without spilling my guts over ruby as a character!! i saw a meta the other day (and i wish i'd reblogged it bc i can't find it again) calling ruby the most devout character in supernatural. and they're right! she is! her arc is about devotion and keeping faith. she's a direct narrative foil to cas, who falls down the path of doubt and experiences a crisis of faith. For ruby, her god is lucifer, and she'll accept all persecution and undergo every trial she has to in order to fulfil her mission as his servant. and she does! she succeeds up to her death! (whereas cas fails, and lives)
she doesn't see grooming and manipulating sam as an act of corruption. it's about purification. (and we all know how sam feels about purity, aha) for ruby, the demon blood drinking is a matter of cleansing sam of human imperfection, for the purposes of presenting lucifer his ideal vessel. because the thing about sam is that he's a liminal figure. he's as human as he is monstrous - and from a demonic perspective, wouldn't his humanness be considered the infection?
the way ruby preys on sam also has a definite maternal tilt to it. from as early as s3 (like the way she says 'that's my boy!' to him in 3x04? like dean does in 1x11?). she calls him 'sammy' in a way that mirrors dean, but also evokes maternal warmth. just as dean in season 1 functions as a protector and guide for sam when he brings him back into the hunting fold, ruby does so for sam in dean's absence. sam's grief and vulnerability presents her an opportunity to take on the role of carer and mentor. she'll teach him how to use his powers! she'll guide him in what he needs to do, while he's so lost in his own suffering. sure she provides warmth and affection - but more importantly, she directs sam towards a mission, a cause for good.
she's an incredible character to pair off with sam, a character full of hope and belief that his faith might amount to something (i'm thinking of the start of s11 here - sam desperate to believe his prayers are being answered by god. only to discover it was lucifer all along) he wants to be like joan of arc - he wants the voice of heaven commanding and guiding him along a path of heroism. it's his hope and faith that make him vulnerable.
ruby takes on sam like she's a cult recruiter preying on a victim! like if you go through the stages of cult indoctrination: deception (check! she tricks him into breaking the final seal by killing lilith!), isolation (check! sam having to keep his activities w ruby a secret, driving a wedge between him and dean, eventuating in their separation), induced dependency (check! a blood addiction!). by the end of it, he's left abandoned by his loved ones, alone and entirely reliant on her and the purpose she's given him.
but luckily - sam is a character who hates being controlled above all else, so he does not have his Midsommar (2019) May Queen moment. even when he does let lucifer in, he does so as a sleeper agent. he holds onto his independent spirit to the end :")
tldr; ruby loves sam as a devotee loves their holy mission. sam begrudgingly accepts ruby, not as the divine guidance he wants, but the only one that'll speak to him.

I’m not much a believer in fate or destiny or any sort of divine plan really. But when your new friend that you’re slowly getting closer to tells you that she believes that she ended up stuck in your city after being denied a job offer for a reason, and that part of that reason was so she could meet you, it will Do Something to you.
Like make you cry in the middle of a sushi restaurant.

obviously having your soul prayed for so you don't go to hell sucks BUT it is always heartwarming to have well-meaning christians ask god to bless you with other things, like exams and safe travels
