Let me say this, as an aplspec schizospec asocial who is sometimes alloace:

Aplatonic people are allowed to be alloromantic no matter what. People are allowed to only want romantic partners and no nonromantic friends. Yeah, it's said to fit the amatonormative standard, but platonormativity isn't just a concept you happen to find funny, it's real.

Aplatonicism may have started within arospec community, but it was also started as related to neurodivergence and asociality, which some dismiss and think schizoid people can't be really romantic. Which is unrealistic and manicomial.

Additional comment: romantic love and friendship concepts vary across cultures too. Where I live acquaintances are not friends, they are just social contacts.

God made me asocial. I usually tried to avoid people and institutions, because they made me super anxious. I had some friends and some places to go out, but my asociality grew. Now I live pretty isolated, almost without contacts. It feels strange but safe and cosy.

Curly's little blurb on his steam trading card just keeps reminding me he is a much more miserable person than people realize.

We don't get a lot of his thoughts, inner confliction that aren't bogged down by what Jimmy says or does. Even in the The Last One and Then Another, his dialogue is reflective, not the Curly before the crash but the result of everything. Parts of the him he was are there of course, but also disfigured and warped beyond recognition just like he is physically.

Curly really doesn't think much of himself and desires. He clearly chases fleeting moments of happiness. He doesn't really have prospects for himself, assumes in a similar way to Swansea, that if it should make it happy then he is happy. Though, he hasn't reached the point Swansea did to admit it doesn't. He neither sees the glass half full or empty, it's just water, something he needs and he'll take it from any perspective.

He wasn't running from anything but he's never really been going towards something either. He's listless. I've been using the term complacent to describe how he feels about his life and the closest people (really just Jimmy) in it, but now that word feels too neutral, too nice. Happier than Curly really was. There isn't just one word for it, he's unfulfilled, uncertain, uninspired. There are no active problems he faces and that's the issue, why should he be upset?

I believe he really is a person who doesn't know who he is or wants to be. He follows a structure. I don't think he's suicidal, but he clearly doesn't think about what makes him happy. He's numb. I suppose that is a better word than complacent, used to the feeling even if he hates it. It doesn't hurt so why stop it?

Recently on a discord server, @curlicuecal was showing various pictures from a book from the 70s about body language, and there were quite a few fun pictures that all supposedly describe different ways body language shows how people communicate:

Including one with a cowboy for some reason regarding sexual aggression?? (there was also a "The sexually aggressive female" diagram but that actually might get this post labeled as mature so I cut that out)

Anyhow, one in particular caught my eye- a picture about how people apparently make eye contact and how that differs in a social situation versus a business one

And I just immediately thought that there's a gaze missing there for people who are asocial and don't like eye-contact, so I fixed that and added it on:

I sort of hate how much of a hypocrite I am for being really bad at regulating things like tone and body language and facial expression when I communicate but then also being so hypersensitive to that stuff in others

Ok I’m actually kinda emotionally wrecked over chapter 123. The cat was her last shred of comfort and companionship and she cut it, because she put its happiness before her own, acting selflessly, and put her trust in another human. And all of it was ripped away from her so cruelly. Her mom died so she could save that cat, but at least she saved the cat… And now everyone’s dead. She made the mistake to trust and now she’s alone.

The more we see of her the more I think we can understand why Yuko was so important to Asa.

The average human is an interesting specimen to observe.

There is a myth with schizoids that they don't pick up well on social cues, and while that could be true for some, it's more likely that they don't care to follow them rather than the fact that they don't pick up on them.

It's rare they have issues communicating aside from just finding the experience unpleasant.

That is true for me.

I understand human nature from a perspective most people don't have. Drifting through life as an observer, I find people predictable, easy to read, and there have been times I've offhandedly predicted something, often to my detriment.

I prefer not to follow social norms. Smiling, being polite, it all is a waste of energy for something I don't enjoy doing. Repeatedly, I find things I don't like about other people and I find myself incompatible with so many people I thought I could be friends with.

I observe other people like they're a separate species that I have so much distaste for interacting with.

I'm smart, as I've been told, I'm perceptive, and sometimes I know people better than they knew themselves. I predicted my girlfriend's BPD diagnosis before she was diagnosed.

I can't do humans.
