Ghost lives next to an old woman. She's a pensioner called Wilma who never had children and her husband passed six years ago.

At first, he had no intention of doing anything but offering his neighbours an awkward but friendly wave and keeping it like that.

Then he comes home one day, lugging around his shopping from Tesco and finds her sitting on her front step. It's baltic outside, a glacial chill running down his spine and twisting around his bones like vines. And this woman is sitting on her front doorstep, housecoat and slippers on with her eyes glued to the entrance of their street.

He's quick to approach her and locate the problem: her lock is broken, she went out for her morning smoke and now she can't get in until her landlord arrives and tries to fix the problem she's been telling him about for months.

He doesn't hesitate to bring her into his house, there's no worry about a stranger occupying his space. He treats it like a mission, get Wilma into his kitchen, make her a cuppa and possibly kill her landlord.

She insists on helping him put away his messages, she isn't prying and trying to get a feel for his home. She's genuinely trying to be helpful because she feels guilty that he had to go out of his way to assist her.

That's the day he decides that Wilma Stewart is his friend because that gives him a reason to help her without her trying to insist on owing him anything.

If something in her house needs to be repaired and he's capable of doing so, he'll mend it. If she needs help with bringing in her shopping or taking out her bins then he'll help when she's there. And eventually, he gives her a spare key, so she can pop in and look over his place while he's away for the job.

If she's baking, she'll leave a plate on his kitchen table. That's how he gains a fondness for Mars Bar traybakes.

When he leaves for any amount of time, he comes back to find a small house plant somewhere in his kitchen. Once he finds a knitted blanket hanging over the back of his couch.

When it's the seventh anniversary of her husband's passing, she invites him in for a drink. She tells him all about her husband Jim. A tender, attentive, gracious man who liked growing tomato plants and crocheting. He tells her about his mum, about Tommy, about Beth and about little Joeseph. His mum and her homemade lentil soup when dad was out, Tommy and their fight over a teal crayon when they were both boys, Beth and the way she brightened up the house with vases of flowers in the colours of a sunset, Joeseph and the way the little bugger peed on him the first time Simon ever tried to change him.

They get a little tipsy and watch Father Ted, he wakes up on his seventy-four-year-old neighbour's couch and ponders what past Simon would think about present Simon's friendship with a pensioner.

One day he invites the other lads over to his place, intent on having a drink with them all and catching up. He lives in a two-bedroom, one of the sergeants could kip in with him, Nik and John could take the other room and the last poor sod could sleep on his couch.

They don't end up making it out for a pint. It's a sunny day and she's a forward woman, Wilma talks them into washing her car under the assurance of baked goods. Then the old bird brings out a camping chair Simon wasn't aware she owned and watches them clean her Mini.

The other men seem to get a kick out of constructive criticism.

"Pretty boy, you missed a bit on the window."

"Oi, stache, get the shirt off."

She wins them over with her switchblade wit and the mismatching mugs she serves them all tea in. Kyle seems particularly fond of the Gromit mug she hands him but Simon's favourite is the cunt mug that uses the handle as the C.

Only when her car is gleaming under the sun's rays does she let them call it quits, herding them inside and tutting disapprovingly when Nikolai pulls his shirt back on.

The array of baked goods that she forces upon them all builds an alliance between the infamous Taskforce 141 and one Wilma Stewart.

By the end of the day, the old-timer has a small army rallied behind her and Simon is almost positive that if her landlord dies within the next four days Nikolai will be responsible for it.

Gaz is all smiles when he hears you come into the apartment, probably making dinner for the two of you in the kitchen. turns around to greet you when you step in but immediately drops the smile when he sees the tears in your eyes. wiping his hands and coming to pull you into a hug, one hand on the back of your head, the other rubbing your back. "shh, it's okay baby.. you're okay, I'm here.." he tries to soothe you, wanting you to calm down before telling him what happened. when you do tell him he's so angry on your behalf but definitely more worried about you feeling better, so he swallows his anger and keeps a soft but tight hold of you, while whispering soothing words. "I'm sorry baby.. how about we eat dinner and then distract you for now, hm? c'mon, I made your favourite."

Soap is probably playing video games or journaling when you come home, peering at the door when he hears the keys in the lock. shouts a quick greeting as you walk in, he glances at you briefly before he does a double take and registers you're crying. puts whatever he's holding aside and pulls you into his lap to hug you, your legs hanging off one of his thighs. "aye, what's the matter honey? who's ass do I have to beat?" he tries ti make you chuckle a bit, but it's no use as what happened spills from your lips. he listens intently, his grip tightening a bit while he curses under his breath. "fuckin' bastard, I'm gonna-" stops himself when he hears your sob and takes a breath, knowing he should be there for you rather. " 'm sorry darling.. I'm here for you.."

Price immediately notices something is off when he hears how quietly you enter, crossing his arms and furrowing his brows as he listens for any hint of what's wrong. "Love, come here, will you?" he orders gently, his expression knowing as he sees you, nodding. "thought so. come here love." he says gently, patting the seat next to him. once you're sat he wraps a strong arm around your shoulders, pulling you close to him, head onto his shoulder as he lets you cry it out for a bit. he's quiet, listening to your sobs and shaky explanation of what happened, frowning as you tell him about your boss. "my poor thing." he murmurs, rubbing your head with his other hand, shaking his head. "it's okay, you're here now. I'm here."

Ghost has a sixth sense for that stuff. the moment the keys are in the lock he makes a beeline for the door, standing against the wall with crossed arms as you step inside, eyeing you over; his suspicions confirming. "what happened?" he asks, listening to you explain before nodding to let you come closer. wrapping his arms around your torso and picking you up, cradling you against his strong build while carrying you to the bedroom. sits in bed with you, holding you close until youve calmed down. wraps you in your shared blanket and puts on your favourite movie. "ill be back in a bit, call if you need anything. i love you." he comes back around 1 ½ hours later with takeout, and a guarantee that your boss will watch how he talks to you from now on.

Okay I'm just gonna try and synthesize all of the random notes I've written in the last few days into something of a vaguely coherent list lol

Grian and Joel are roommates looking for a new flat when they get the call that Grian has inherited a house, they very impulsively and foolishly decide to keep the thing that is way too large and far too run down for the two of them to handle, the house is so incredibly haunted, normal bbc ghosts plot ensues

Grian is the one who almost dies and ends up being able to see ghosts. Mumbo is the one who pushes him out the window. Which is ironic bc Mumbo was very much not pro killing the new inhabitants of the house when the other ghosts were scheming ways to get rid of them.

Okay so ghost facts.

Bdubs is obviously highly based on Robin the caveman, I imagine him being slightly closer to the end of the paleolithic period than Robin. I think he may or may not have had some weird cult stuff going in. Weird cult leader caveman guy worshiping the sun and moon. Yes the cloak is real moss. There's bugs in that thing

Wels and Hels killed eachother in a duel, right on the property line, which now neither of them can cross in death. So now both of them is just stuck on either side of the fence seething about it for the rest of time. I like how ridiculous and arbitrary the ghost property line rules are in ghosts, so I find this incredibly funny. Hels is the guy Black Knight stories are based on

Ren wasn't actually a king, he was some type of noble who tried to declare himself king of a specific area, hence the beheading. Whooooooo let's go treason!!

Cleo was not doing actual witch craft at the time she was accused of it, she was however probably doing other illegal and vaguely fucked stuff. Mayhaps that's why she was accused, someone wanted her out of the way and that was an easy and surefire way to get rid of her

Joe my absolutely beloved. Pat stand in but not quite. He was a popular radio host, he did a lot of volunteer work as a voice/performer for hire. He gets recruited to do some announcer work for a scouting event. There is, mayhaps, a much more. Uh. DIY. Scouting event happening on the next property over. There is an accident involving some homemade fireworks next door (cubfan. when I get you cubfan.), the fireworks going off scares some kid in the middle of fucking around with a bow, Joe gets shot, you can assume the rest. Cub is ghosting around next door cause of the fireworks accident if it makes you feel any better lol

Mumbo my stupid nervous guy. Ran a large tech startup in the late 90s, should not have been given that kind of power over a company. Accidentally did like. A lot of finance crime. Found out about said finance crime and immediately had a fucking heartattack and died from the panic. My cringe fail businessman I love you

Etho is their weird annoying neighbor, he can also see ghosts, but it'll take awhile for everyone to figure that out.

In the same way Grian can see ghosts bc Mumbo tried to kill him, Etho can see ghosts bc Hels tried to kill him (haven't decided how exactly that went down yet)

I've been thinking about what to do with the basement ghosts and I think I want to put team zits down there.

Uh. Other human cast. Jimmy is around! He kind of fills an Obi type role, silly friend who is just kind of around a lot. I think I wanna have Lizzie as like a local barista Joel has a crush on. The ghosts get in his way every time he tries to make a move on her.

Obviously a lot of the ghosts aren't strict one to one fill ins for the original show's ghosts. Ren and Beef are both kind of drawing elements from both Thomas and Humphrey, Wels and X are both kind of drawing from Fanny and Cap, Scar and Mumbo both kind of combine to make up Julian's character. So on and so forth. All of the stuff with Etho and his property's ghosts is obviously all stuff I just did cause I thought it was fun lol

Oh yeah! Ghost powers! Okay obvious stuff, Bdubs has Robin's ability to fuck with lights, Cleo has the same burning smell as Mary, Mumbo can push stuff like Julian. Non obvious stuff. I want Joe to be able to be heard through like radios and phones and such. Hels has to have something to have almost killed Etho but I've yet to decide what that is. If Hels has something I think it would be funny to then have Wels also have the same power, but like. Weaker. So he can be pissy about it. Obviously.

Uh yeah that's all i can think of off the top of my head

Anyways, yeah!!! That's the basic constructions of this au. I had this idea like 3 days ago and have. Obviously thought about it a lot in that time lmao

This is an ask from months ago but 💀 since Shuu brought it up recently I finally gained the motivation to answer and draw something (referring to my last post)

BUT the gist of it is they're the very typical shoujo manga "besties-to-lovers" type of dynamic, with Ace being the type of guy who likes to bully and tease his crush (typical) and they're dumbasses who banter a lot. He's quite casual with physical touch, often just throwing an arm around her shoulders or just propping an elbow on her head like she's a convenient armrest. The one problem is Mayu is Oblivious™ to any of Ace's advances because she just assumes Ace treats every girl like this and she just happens to, unfortunately, be the only one around. She almost feels bad for him. Ace is also Tsundere and will deny it if someone else suggests his actions have any deeper meaning ("H-haaah? Who'd like her!"), so uh, good luck dude... Though despite how talented he is at unlocking her exasperated expression, they're still close friends who have each other's back ww

TL;DR They're very silly and dumb and the ship that's mainly comedy and I really need to draw more of them 💥

So, odd question, but if you were to summarize their relationship from his POV in FIVE panels which panels would you pick? This was such a kind ask & a cool challenge which I totally failed; here are TWENTY-five panels of Dick's POV on Tim sdfdsfds Look, I got carried away! Marcia and Cindy! The boys!!

OKAY SO BEFORE I GET TO THE PANELS A FEW NOTES:

WARNING THAT THERE ARE SOME NEGATIVE EMOTIONS IN HERE because I love conflict but but but you gotta remember those are not the final word!! They are complicated people and sometimes they get mad at each other BUT ultimately their relationship is so hugely important in both their lives & they love each other and rely on each other so much -!!! <3

Also I have CONCLUDING THOUGHTS at the end about what Dick's POV leaves out (mostly: a lot of Dick defending & protecting & supporting Tim, which Dick does instinctively but isn't very self-aware about most of the time)

Final rambling thoughts:

TIM: Uhh, okay, so I'm just skimming this list - do you really trust me? you're not just saying that? - but anyway, I'm confused because you left some stuff out? Like some stuff that's kinda important? DICK: No? I think I got everything? TIM (starts counting on his fingers): The time I was having a bad day but then I called you. The time I got captured by Two-Face but then you saved me. The time I fell off a train but then you saved me. The time I fell off a building but then you saved me. The time I fell off a different building - DICK: I feel like you're trying to make some kind of point but I'm not sure what it could be.

SO THE THING IS, I put 25 panels in here and not a single one has Dick catching Tim when he’s falling!!! But I think that's a central motif of their relationship from Tim’s POV, not Dick’s. I love Dick, but in some ways I think he is spectacularly un-self-aware.

And I think he especially has a lot of blind spots about Tim. He kinda intermittently gets that Tim admires him, and he enjoys it in a playful I-get-to-boss-you-around way. But Dick tends to consistently underestimate all of his own good qualities & skills, and he meets Tim at a point in his life when he's especially down on himself & his abilities. And so he's unable to see his own influence on Tim, & therefore unable to fully understand a lot of Tim's priorities and loyalties and motivations, because you can't actually understand Tim without understanding Dick's impact on him. There's a fascinating moment in Bruce Wayne: Murderer when Dick's completely blindsided & upset to discover that Tim doesn't entirely trust Bruce, even though this has been a definitive fact of Tim's whole thing ever since he showed up with his Batman needs Robin theory, and Barbara has to actively remind Dick of the obvious-to-everyone-except-Dick fact that a lot of Tim's loyalty is to Dick, and Tim loves Bruce but feels free to be more wary of him. (And to give Bruce credit: this is not something he ever begrudges.) But anyway Babs points this out, and Dick manages to sorta process it for about five seconds, but he cannot actually accept it into his worldview so instead he discards it at the speed of light and goes off and has an argument with Tim instead sdfsfdsf

All of Dick's virtues - Dick's kindness at the circus and Dick's determination to fight through grief and Dick's rigid sense of morals and Dick's vigilante skills and every time Dick has ever backed Tim up or listened to him or protected him or saved him from something or just been casually kind to a stranger in Tim's presence etc etc etc - all these things loom really large in Tim's mental story of Who Dick Is, and What Dick And Tim's Relationship Is. Tim meets Dick before he meets Bruce, trusts Dick more than Bruce, aspires to be Robin instead of Batman. And so in Tim's default version of the story, Dick is the super-special and admirable hero and Tim is... nobody in particular, a tagalong outsider who's barely managing to be a hero, not part of Dick and Bruce's family and not part of their story, who, if he's VERY LUCKY and tries REALLY HARD, might be able to fight his way to proving himself and offering something to Dick that Dick will value, if Dick doesn't get fed up with him first.

But that's not Dick's version of the story!!!

Dick's version of the story is almost the exact opposite, a story where Dick's an outcast failure black sheep who's screwing up everything he tries, and meanwhile Tim is The Sudden New Perfect Robin Who's Better Than Me And Probably Bruce Loves Him More And Probably They Gossip About What A Loser I Am, mixed with a complicated edge of Tim Thinks He's So Smart But He Doesn't Know Me/Us At All. Dick gets much more attached to Tim over time, and Tim gets unnervingly better at the know-it-all psychoanalysis so then Dick gets to have complicated feelings about him being right instead of just annoyance at him for being wrong, plus Dick's relationship with Bruce improves a lot, so Tim stops feeling so threatening. But Dick never fundamentally changes his basic theory of their relationship in which Tim is highly impressive and capable, and Dick is not so much.

And so asking Dick about Tim is kinda like if you asked George Bailey to tell you about Harry Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life; like, you'll be there for five hours while he tells you how great Harry is, and how accomplished Harry is, and how he doesn't really get how or why Harry does the things he does, and maybe George does feel a little resentful or jealous sometimes, but that pales in comparison to all his admiration and trust for Harry who he loves so much, who's better than him in so many ways, and he's not gonna openly gripe but secretly he can't help but feel sometimes like he's such a failure in comparison to Harry, a perfect person who emerged fully formed from Zeus's head with all the virtues and also all the accomplishments, etc. etc. etc. --

-- and he will not actually remember the part where he changed and saved Harry's whole entire life unless you literally send him to an alternate timeline in order to force him to remember it. <3

it's funny how intensely hard coded tabby is into cats. with dogs you don't see the agouti pattern showing up everywhere, to the point where it can still show on solid ones in certain lighting. even on pure white cats sometimes the way the fur on the forehead lays seems to sort of match the way tabby stripes would look, at least to me.

This is literally the very first image i got when i searched "white cat". And you're right, it absolutely does have some ghost stripes on the forehead!

Here’s ur invitation to share a funny story from ur childhood and how the boys would react to Kid!Reader doing it, I’ll go first-

I have an oral fixation so I would eat literally anything (mostly just putting stuff in my mouth and playing with it). The highlights were: dirt, cat food, magnets, tiny batteries (?!!???), playdough, pencils, erasers, pens, seatbelts, buttons, and jewelry. I can imagine the extra gray hairs Price would get trying to keep me from putting random stuff in my mouth while Simon just buys a baby leash and calls it a day

I'll start by saying that the two Pokémon feel very different. The plasma of a Rotom's body is much warmer and more electrically conducive, owed largely to the higher density of electrons. It is presumably possible to poke all the way through a Rotom, but their cores are so dense that it would be almost impossible to not slip off to the side. Touching an offshoot of the plasma can cause some tingliness up your arm, and folks who are sensitive to ozone may notice a slight smell and even a resulting headache. Sustained close contact with an untrained Rotom can potentially lead to burns- but Rotom devices such as smartphones and PokéDexes are very efficient with heat management and are quite safe for frequent use or wear.

The plasma of a Phantump is much cooler to the touch (essentially the difference between the heat of a standard light bulb and the cool glow of the plasma in a fluorescent bulb). They are technically not wet, but most Ghost-Type trainers report that they almost feel clammy, due to the colder temperature and somewhat viscous nature of their bodies.

not to keep talking about Laios in Pokémon (except I will) but it's a shame he inhabits a Legends Arceus style time in my mind bc he would have thrived scolding people (especially trainers) over the dietary needs of a Pokémon.
