First, I do see it as starting as pure friendship. Sci is the one to reach out to her because he sees stuff he is now curious about and wants to learn more. It bothers her at first, until he shares with her, showing how her magic and science and work together. Nightmare finds this all amusing and takes Sci to see her and delivers the cell phone.

As... they start building a relationship... Nightmare is not sure what to think. He doesn't like this witch!Toriel, after all. Yet... it is amusing, and Sci is learning things that might help Nightmare in the long run... So, he will allow it... for now.

Killer (and low-key Dust) tease him about being a matchmaker. That, Nightmare is not amused by.

I was playing Stardew tonight and got jumpscared by the wizard just walking his ass through town in broad daylight to go to the bookseller. For 8 years he’s been a hermit! Isolated from the townsfolk who fear and distrust him! At most, he might be hiding at the edges of a festival where no one could notice him! That was the extent of his outings to Pelican Town! We also know that Danny ‘is LITERALLY a ghost’ Fenton sucks at remembering his own intangibility while ALSO forgetting to look ahead of him.

All I’m saying is, Danny Fenton (or Phantom, if you’d really like) would absolutely SLAM into Batman on accident while running on roof tops and Bruce ‘Brooding Instinct’ Wayne doesn’t even think twice about letting the kid hide and scanning around for danger before there’s a record scratch of ‘wait who tf is this?’ kicks in.
