It's normal to sometimes see the past, to think clearly! But dusk doesn't last forever... so you have to think fast before the sun sets.

So been really sick recently so what do I do to cheer myself up? I sketched my comfort opt while binge reading the wonderful @topazshadowwolf‘s Sorielweek submissions. Day well spent! I don't really know much about any of the AUs, however,,, even I am not immune to skeleton angst. What can I say, ya got me, gaster blaster au... I do not think you are canon in any way but I appreciate the convenient opportunity for some hurt/comfort. Plus the canine unit often gets some attention in these aus and I love the canine unit. I did not draw them here though, sorry. This is just a gaster blaster au take on that one werewolf myth. I also wanted to draw a "bone"us alternate ending where she throws the hoodie at him but this is my first time drawing any kind of comic and i am simply not that good yet lol

SORIEL WEEK IS TOMORROW AND I'M NOT READY! I miss this ship a lot, and I'm still determined to add to the content during SW.

Basically, I can't prompt atm, so I'm trying to get some Soriel WIPs updated. Let's see how many I can do during Soriel week and "late week." That's right! Aiming for two weeks of adding to my soriel content! If my brain will prompt then I will do one also.

(BTW, consider this a last warning to anyone who follows me strictly for Dadmare and is not big on Soriel. I will be reblogging and posting soriel the next two weeks and likely some later today. So, if it's not black listed, i recommend doing that now.)

The art of keyboard smashing is one I have yet to perfect myself, but I admire those who have mastered this way of communication in a way that I am able to understand, even though basic words are not used. I feel such love from seeing it, thank you!

As for your inquiry, it boils down to a few things. 1) I keep writing what I enjoy even if I don’t think it’s good at the time, 2) I keep trying to add more to my basic knowledge and skills, 3) Prayer. And that’s my three step plan to get good at writing.

recently I had the pleasure to read the fanfic "how nightmare became dadmare" by @topazshadowwolf and im absolutely LOVING it!! andd it inspired me to make some fanart for it, so here i am!!

soo yeah!! i might do some more later on after getting at chapter 16(currently at chapter 11) andd i just wanted to say im enjoying this fic alot!! i would have done the fanart in digital but im sadly not home rn and far away from my wonderfull pc,so thats that😭 but yeah,your fic is really well-written topaz,so thx for writing it! :3 especially cuz i was STARVING for a bit of dadmare and u cured my thirst HEHE

Hi!! Do Quetzalcoatl and Lanny (Guardians of the Tree of Life and the Tree of Magic respectively) and their trees exist in the HNBD multiverse?

Quite possibly, but they have no role that will be noticed in this multiverse. Mainly because I know barely anything about them or where they are or who they are or anything about their trees, really. So, for you, the reader, they are Schrodinger's Cat. They both exist and don't exist in this multiverse simultaneously, as I refused to commit to an answer. And knowing this is the case now, they will stay that way, as I find it absolutely hilarious.

I have come here with a question once again.

How old, exactly, are Dream and Nightmare?

I've been wondering this for a while now...

I'm also curious about how exactly Nightmare was old when the apple accident happened and when he gained back control over his body.

Corrupted mentiones Nightmare suffering for '12 years' before Dream turns to stone, BUT in that chapter it was mentioned that Nightmare was an early teen, which could be 13~15 years old. Maybe 12 years could be the years the village was around which.... is not great.

Also, second point, Nightmare is petty. Very petty. We know that. But it still seems weird for him to keep up a feud for hundreds of years...

Last point, it's mentioned that Dream possibly saved Blue and Stretch (Orange) from the destruction of their au, maybe? Seven years prior. But Dream has surely been around for longer.

Idk. I just like timelines i guess.

Nightmare was “12-13” at the time, but will usually just say “12” or early teens. There is the time they spent as little balls of energy and it is unknown how long that was. Also, mostly because I honestly haven’t decided fully on this yet, I also am waffling on something else, as it would also make sense if their perception of time was different since they are immortals and would age slower. Plus, where they lived all the seasons were mostly mild so the years might run together now and then. So, rather easily the twins could have been 12 or 13 mentally and physically, but lived twice as long. This may also explain some things with the villagers. After all, it's hard to look at someone as a child when you’ve known them since you were a child and you’re now an adult.

Since that is a matter of perception and your question brings that up, pov is also something to bear in mind while reading. Basically, all the narrators in HNBD have their biases. I plan to have a narrator in the future who will be truly neutral about everything. :3 I already love this narrator and can’t wait to tell more, but not yet. Anyway, the bottom line is that thoughts, words spoken, or things perceived are not always 100% accurate. Consider who the person is and the biases they may have.

To fill in the timeline more, he, Nightmare, had been slowly regaining some control now and then, which I will eventually show. However, he regained full control about 50-75 years after Dream was freed, so he may have been around 570 years old. Still, he wanted to get the upper hand against his brother at that time as the resentment was still kinda strong and… well, he was anything but a “Dadmare” at that time.

Ha! Nightmare’s pettiness knows no bounds. That said, yes… even he knows this conflict is stupid, but both brothers currently don’t know how to talk to each other, and too much pain is blinding their sensibilities. Also, don’t forget, as I said earlier, that as immortals, the twins have a skewed sense of time. So, this petty feud might be centuries long, but to them, it doesn’t feel like that.

This Blue and Stretch (Noot: Orange is still a better name) are not from the original Swap AU. They are from a Swap AU that Error destroyed. By the time Dream arrived, it was mostly gone, so he led them to safety while defending them from Error, as Ink had backed down due to it being a lost cause by that point. Error is also petty, and he did try searching for them; luckily, his memory is poor, and he later forgot. And yeah, after all the years of conflict before being followed by about six more years of fighting against Dream, Ink, and now this random mortal had Nightmare saying, ‘Fine, I will hire some help.’ I hope that helped you. I should try drawing out a timeline, but I’m too lazy for that, so I’ll just go with the whole thing said in Dr. Who about time and timelines.

Hopefully my last ever Soriel Rant

Sorry to those who have heard this before. But, yet again, I am going through the Soriel tag and see hate because "Toriel is old." This time, though, they added that Soriel only works in DT because Toriel is not as old as UT Toriel. This annoyed me as it is apparent some information given in UT has been forgotten. All of you are forgetting she is a BOSS MONSTER. Per Gerson:

"We call 'em Boss Monsters. When they have an offspring, the SOUL power of the parents flows into the child... Causing the child to grow as the parents age. But ASGORE doesn't have a child. So he's been stuck at the same age... And probably will be forever. Huh? What if the child is a human...? What? Nah. That wouldn't work. So if ASGORE's your father, he'll definitely outlive you."

Asriel DIED in UT before his horns grew in. UT Toriel is YOUNGER than DR Toriel. I'm starting to assume most of you who think Toriel is so old is because you, yourself, are a kid or teen. But let me explain to you some basic facts:

Royalty often marries young and focuses on having children as soon as possible. Especially if you are next in line for the throne and your kingdom is in dire straits. In a monarchy system, having the stability of a King and Queen, as well as future rulers (Princes or Princesses), provides reassurance to the people, knowing that there is stability. It provides security for the future so they, too, can form families and a life.

Considering all of that, given the war and loss of many monster species, UT Asgore and Toriel were likely 18-20 years old when they married. With how young Asriel looks and sounds in UT, he likely died no older than 10. Additionally, considering he does not have his horns, we can infer that he died at a young age. Meanwhile, DR Toriel's Asriel not only grew in his horns but is old enough to go away to college! Even if Boss Monsters stop aging at 25, and both Toriel and Asgore's parents lived long enough during the war for them to reach that age, and they waited until then to have their own children, that would mean Toriel would be at most around 35 years old. No matter how many years go by. She is MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY about 35 years old until she has another child. Or at least the human equivalent of 35 years old, give or take, for differences in the aging of Monsters.

We do not know Sans' age. All of you "kids" see him at 20 because to you that's old, but to someone my age, he then would still be a young'un, a teen in a way, if he were just 20 years old. He is likely 25 or older, to me at least. I feel this way as he seems to be someone who is more mentally mature. (Your brain does not stop developing until you are 24-25 years old. The last part to develop is your prefrontal cortex, which is the part that allows you to understand cause and effect.) I say this because UT Sans knew that interfering with the humans' travels by holding their hand, like Toriel, would make the 'game' boring. But seeing a friendly face now and then during times we might start feeling lonely would be helpful. Also, by stepping in too soon to stop the human, he wouldn't be at his strongest to fight us if we killed a few people.

I have seen people judge him for not stepping in to save his brother. Even question how much he loves Papyrus if he just allowed it to happen. Do you honestly think he just wanted to sit back and let you kill Papyrus? Someone who breaks the gameplay in the final boss fight by attacking you in the menu screens? NO. He does love Papyrus. He tries to encourage you to spend time with Papyrus, to care about his little brother. He pushes on us that Papyrus is the coolest. Because if we love Papyrus, we wouldn't want to hurt him. Because he saw something concerning timelines, starting and stopping, but only one ends everything, thus there is no going back. So, only one timeline truly matters.

To make these decisions, he likely has a fully developed mind that allows him to understand that acting too soon will have a worse outcome than waiting. That Papyrus might die now, but if he proves this route is bad or makes it impossible to continue, the kid might go back and redo things. Not saying a 20-year-old couldn't think this. But it is more likely to be seen by someone older and mature. Which is different than the typical "Sans is too lazy to save his own brother" that i have seen.

Sans is seen as lazy, and as an adult, I get it. My living space is messy, and I prefer lazing around when I can. However, I still work a full-time job, help my friends with whatever they may need, and I have some hobbies that I'm passionate about. Sans is messy, but he tried to bake a pie (sugary quiche), got some snail-shelled pasta that Papyrus is unsure what he did with, and visits a lady daily at a door to give her company. He made his brother's costume and helped him make a guard station to help encourage his dream of becoming a member of the royal guard. The fact that Sans is paying for the house, supporting his brother by working multiple jobs, and getting him whatever he wants or needs to have a stable life, tells me he would understand Toriel in her efforts to raise the humans. They may even commiserate about things that happened, which only a single parent might understand. Because Sans might be the older brother, but he also took on the fatherly role for Papyrus.

"But, Topaz, Sans is Papyrus's brother, and Papyrus is still young!" I hear you say. 1. We don't know how old Papyrus is. The CoolSkeleton95 doesn't mean much to me, as I personally used random numbers that didn't mean jack squat to me whenever I needed to add a number at the end of a username. Also, maybe skeletons take a long time to age. Maybe Papyrus was born in 1895. Regardless, just because YOU might have used your birth year does not mean Papyrus used his. And 2. So? There can be a 10, 15, or even 20-year age difference between them. That is possible. If their mother was 20 when Sans was born, guess what? The mother could have been 40 when Papyrus was born. These are just life facts; people forget that when looking at fictional characters, their own personal life does not need to apply.

The bottom line: Stop throwing false accusations of disgusting behaviors (an 80-year-old going after a 20-year-old, for example) just because you don't like the ship. And you don't have to like it! But saying 'well, it only works in DR and not UT because of (same old recycled excuse that has already been debunked hundreds of times)' is just getting annoying. We all have our preferences. Just because you're annoyed that DR Soriel seems to be happening and people are excited and posting about it doesn't give you an excuse to dunk on UT Soriel.

Now, get off my lawn! Whipper-snappers these days. (Translation: Please, just stay out of the tag/don't tag your hate posts as Soriel.)
