Ranpo better not be dead but if he is can you imagine how hard that’ll hit Fukuzawa. First he lost his friend, then Ranpo. How much of a father/son relationship they have is up to interpretation (still after reading Untold Origins I feel like it’s pretty damn close) but there’s no denying Ranpo means a lot to him

PAIRING: evan buckley x fem!reader WARNINGS: no use of y/n GENRE: fluff, meet cute SONG INSPIRATION: tadow by masego WORD COUNT: 938
navigation | ask | evan buckley masterlist
you were new to the 118.
from the moment you stepped into the station, they had welcomed you with open arms. chimney took you under his wing, showing you the ropes with his humour that helped keep the nerves at bay.
hen had this way of grounding you, offering advice that made you feel like you weren’t just learning the job, but learning to trust yourself.
sure, you’d had a couple of minor slip-ups during your first rescues. nothing too dangerous, but enough to sting your pride. you’d quickly learned from your mistakes, and the team had noticed. they always made it clear you weren’t alone, encouraging you as you found your footing.
as your first month passed, you began to feel like you were truly part of the family. but there was one name that kept coming up, like a shadow you couldn’t quite pin down, evan buckley.
whether it was on the ride back to the station or during meals around the table, his name was always on someone’s lips.
“remember when buck–” “oh my god, and then buck said–” “i still can’t believe buck actually–”
from the stories, he sounded like their long lost annoying younger brother, ruthlessly teased but fiercely loved. he was the kind of person who could drive them up the wall one minute and have them laughing until they cried the next.
with each story, you found yourself forming a mental image of him. this larger-than-life, chaotic force of nature who somehow managed to be their glue. without even meeting him, you felt like you already knew him.
and then, one day, you did.
you were cleaning and restocking one of the ambulances, focused on the methodical rhythm of your work. the sound of cheers outside pulled your attention, distant at first but growing louder, accompanied by bursts of laughter.
curiosity got the better of you. you closed the ambulance doors with a firm slam and started toward the commotion, your steps quickening with each cheer.
as you rounded the corner, you stopped in your tracks. the entire team had gathered in a loose circle, their voices raised in excitement, their faces lit up with the kind of joy reserved for reunions.
in the middle of it all stood a mountain of a man.
chim was the first to spot you lingering at the back of the group. “hey!” he called out, his grin widening as he reached for you, tugging you forward. “c’mon, don’t be shy! you’ve got to meet him!”
you stumbled slightly as you were pulled to the front, your breath hitching the moment your eyes landed on him.
he was everything the stories hadn’t prepared you for.
tall and broad shouldered, his uniform stretched taut over muscles that seemed almost unfairly large. his hair was slightly tousled, the golden strands catching the sunlight, but it was his smile that truly knocked the air out of your lungs. warm and open, it softened his chiselled features and sent a rush of heat straight up your neck.
then his eyes met yours.
blue. so blue they seemed to pull you in, almost as if the world had narrowed to just the two of you in that moment.
chim’s voice broke through your daze. “and this,” he said with a teasing grin, gesturing toward you, “is your new replacement!”
you rolled your eyes playfully, trying to ignore the way your heart raced as buck’s gaze lingered on you.
“replacement, huh?” buck chuckled, “i’ve heard i left them in good hands.”
he extended a hand toward you, and for a split second, you just stared at it, your brain short circuiting. then, as if on autopilot, you took it.
the moment his hand closed around yours, you felt it. a warmth spread through you, starting at your palm and radiating outward. his hand was large and strong, but his grip was gentle, as though he didn’t wanna hurt you.
“yeah…” you managed, your voice softer than you intended. “you could say that.”
You give him your name, his lips curve into a gentle smile. He nods, his eyes never leaving yours. "pretty."
your hand stayed in his for a beat too long, neither of you seeming eager to let go. his thumb brushed against your skin, an unconscious movement that sent shivers down your spine.
the world around you blurred. all you could see was him. the way his uniform hugged his frame, the way the corners of his mouth quirked up as he smiled at you, the way his eyes softened.
then, as if realising himself, buck gave your hand one final squeeze before letting go, his own hesitation mirrored in the slight reluctance of your fingers.
the moment broke before you could process what had just happened, someone called his name from across the station, and he was ushered away, leaving with the crowd and disappearing through one of the doors. his laughter echoed faintly as he went, but not before his eyes flicked back to you, lingering for a moment longer than they should have.
you turned quickly, your face burning. you took a step back and mouthed silently to yourself, “oh. my. god.”
“catch your breath yet?” bobby’s voice startled you, low and amused.
your head snapped toward him, but the knowing look in his eyes said it all. he’d seen the whole thing.
you tried to play it cool, clearing your throat and turning back to the ambulance as if you had work to do. but your heart was still racing, your hand tingling from where his touch had lingered.
little did you know, buck was feeling the same thing, standing in the middle of his family with his thoughts entirely consumed by you.

scene prompt game - 41: sitting close and knees touching + 😈🍻🎇
for @eddiesgaymustache <3
--
“Whoa,” Buck said. “Someone’s late.”
He tilted his head back to take in the burst of light as the firework exploded overhead. Midnight had come and gone a while ago. The bar wasn’t empty yet, but it had been clearing out slowly, since the countdown and the cheering and the champagne an hour and change ago.
Hen and Karen left minutes after midnight, barely giving Buck enough time to kiss them both on the cheek. Bobby and Athena didn’t even wait for midnight; Athena announced they were celebrating on central time, kissed her husband, and said good-bye. Chimney and Maddie lasted slightly longer, but only because Buck kept trying to buy Maddie drinks and whining when she tried to remind him she had a kid to pick up from the Lees’ in the morning.
Buck and Eddie hadn’t made a move to leave.
“The year’s still new, I guess,” Eddie said.
Buck looked at him. Another firework soared through the sky and Buck watched it burst in the reflection in Eddie’s eyes.
They were the first two to the bar. After their shift let out in the afternoon, Buck drove himself home, then to Eddie’s after a shower and changing into his outfit for tonight. Eddie wasn’t dressed when Buck showed up, so Buck followed him around the house, helping him tidy and making sure Chris was actually packing his backpack for his sleepover, Buck in his dress pants and silky green button-up shirt and Eddie in his socks and t-shirt.
Buck didn’t remember the last time they had a New Year’s Eve off. The bar was Maddie’s idea, a cute rooftop bar she and Chimney found for a date night. Buck and Eddie showed up early, Eddie grabbing them a couple beers and Buck laying claim to the big booth in the corner. Eddie slid in to sit next to him, tilting one of the beers at Buck.
As the rest of the 118 and partners arrived, Buck and Eddie found themselves scooting closer and closer together to squeeze everyone in. By the time the countdown started, they were pressed together, shoulder to hip to thigh. Eddie bumped Buck’s knee with his when Buck made him laugh.
It was a fun, loud night. It was too hard for Buck or Eddie to get out of the booth once they were in it, so everyone kept bringing them drinks, more beer and complicated cocktails with fruit and umbrellas sticking out of them that Chimney insisted they try. They were a pair: Buck and Eddie, stuck together shoulder to toe, served the same drinks and answering questions for each other, Buck explaining the fight with Eddie’s neighbors about the recycling bins and Eddie answering when Karen asked why Buck texted her asking what the deal was with some article about the Webb telescope (Chris was looking for a science project).
And when everyone started to filter out, Buck and Eddie didn’t make a move to separate from each other.
Eddie knocked his knee into Buck’s. It wasn’t a particularly cool night, but Buck leaned into the warm line of Eddie’s body against his anyway.
Buck bumped his knee back. “Are you tired?”
“Nah,” Eddie said. “Not really.”
“Me neither,” Buck said.
It was a late night, but they had a lot of late nights together. Sitting in the loft at the station and waiting for something, anything to happen. Driving to a night call, when it was late enough for the traffic to finally take a break for the day. Sitting on Eddie’s couch, credits rolling across the screen, playing chicken with who would admit they needed to go to sleep first.
“I can’t believe they all went home,” Eddie said. He nodded at the empty chairs around the table without taking his eyes off Buck.
“They’re all old,” Buck said. He pressed his knee into Eddie’s again. “Not like us, right?”
Eddie laughed, low and quiet in his throat. “Not like us,” he repeated.
His smile was small, a private thing between them. His eyes were lit up with something bright and amused. Buck couldn’t stop looking at them.
The only funny moment of the evening was when the New Year’s countdown finished and the (replay) of the ball dropping played on the bar TVs and the fireworks started exploding over the heads. It was only then that Buck remembered, with sudden, startling clarity, that he and Eddie were the only single ones at this little party. Everyone yelled zero and screamed and cheered and the couples at the table all turned to kiss each other—all except Buck and Eddie.
It was fine. It was minute, not even, and then Buck was smacking a kiss on Hen’s cheek and trying to get Chimney lean close enough for him to kiss him on the forehead. It was nothing, except, for a second, everyone was kissing and Buck and Eddie were looking at each other. For a second, it was just the two of them.
Kind of like now.
“It freaks me out sometimes,” Buck said quietly. “New Year’s. I get this feeling like, I don’t know. Like I’m waiting for something.”
“Waiting for wait?”
Buck shook his head. “I don’t know.”
Eddie was so warm against him. They were both in short sleeves. Their elbows were touching, bare skin on bare skin.
“The future?” Eddie offered.
“I guess,” Buck said. “Sometimes it’s like, I know it’s all right around the corner. But I don’t know what it is, or where the corner is, or how I’m going to get there.”
Eddie hums. “I get that,” he said. “Sometimes—sometimes, there’s things I want, but they feel so far away. I want them, and I don’t know how I’m ever going to get to them.”
“Things like what?” Buck said.
“Lots of things,” Eddie said quietly.
"Name one," Buck insisted.
Buck looked at him. Eddie looked back. Somewhere out in the bar, someone was calling for their friend over the music. Buck didn’t hear it at all.
"Buck," Eddie said quietly.
"Eddie," Buck parroted.
Eddie pressed his knee into Buck’s. He had a look in his eyes that Buck couldn’t read at all—unless he just meant what it looked like. Unless he just meant, this.
“What kind of things, Eddie?” Buck asked.
Overhead, a firework burst into sparkling blues and golds. Buck felt the boom in his chest. Eddie’s eyes flicked up to the sky, then back to Buck’s.
“Happy New Year, Buck,” he said, and leaned in.
Eddie kissed him. Under the dark sky of the new year, at an empty table an hour and change after midnight—Eddie set one hand on the back of Buck’s neck, gentle.
Buck kissed him back. He got lost in it in a second, in all the places Eddie was touching him, the press of his fingertips on Buck’s neck and his mouth on Buck’s mouth and their knees, knocking close under the table. He’d chosen Eddie’s cologne for him tonight, a task Eddie set to keep him busy while he second-guessed his outfit, picking through the options on the top of his dresser until he found one he liked. Buck could smell it now.
Buck blinked his eyes open when they separated. He wouldn’t have been surprised if the bar had closed around them, or the sun had come up. They could have been kissing for an hour, two hours, a day. Instead, he just saw Eddie, looking back at him with something bright in his eyes.
Eddie took a slow breath in. Quietly, he asked, "Am I too late?"
“No,” Buck said. He didn’t know when this started—a week ago, six months, seven years, longer. He couldn’t remember when he’d started hoping for this, and he couldn’t imagine ever stopping wanting it. “Never.”

For @bucktommypositivityweek day TWO! :) prompt: nicknames and terms of endearment
🫶🫶🫶🫶
If you were to ask Tommy what his nicknames for Evan were, he might laugh and answer that it was ‘Evan’. Regardless of it being his actual name, Tommy is one of the only people who uses it, which makes it feel unique and his own. However it wasn’t long into their relationship that ‘baby’ slipped past Tommy’s lips. It just came so natural and felt so right— not to mention how it caused Evan’s eyes to go wide and his cheeks to turn pink. So ‘baby’ is typically how Evan is addressed.
For Tommy, on the other hand, he has been called pretty much everything under the sun. Babe is often used, almost like Evan’s version of Tommy’s Baby, but he sometimes goes with honey, or sweetheart… sunshine—that's mostly sarcasm used when Tommy’s in a mood after a trying day. Tommy doesn’t mind, he loves all the names: the cutesy ones, the sweet ones, the silly ones.
“Hey Beautiful,” Evan says, looking down at him from the 118’s loft.
That one… is new.
It catches Tommy off guard enough he actually turns and checks around him for someone else Evan might have been talking to. “Give me one second, I’ll be right down,” Evan continues, not catching Tommy’s confusion, then he disappears from the railing.
Tommy stares at the spot he was standing, and can feel his cheeks heating up.
He knows Evan is attracted to him. Hell, he hates to give himself the confidence boost, but he’d go as far as to say he knows he’s an attractive man. Attractive… handsome… hot even—(okay maybe he’s not that confident)—but beautiful?
And the thing is he has called Evan beautiful plenty of times. He is. He’s beautiful in so many ways Tommy could list them all day and never reach the end.
“Hey, are you okay?” Evan asks, coming off the last step, making a beeline to where Tommy’s still cemented to the floor. “Your cheeks are really red.” He lays the back of his hand against Tommy’s forehead, then his cheeks and looks confused. “Ok you don’t have a fever, wait…” He dips his head to meet Tommy’s eyes. “Are you blushing?”
“No…” Tommy quickly retorts. “Maybe…” he says right after. He shifts on his feet and breaks his eyes from Evan’s. Embarrassed at himself for being so affected by a silly pet name Evan probably didn’t even fully mean.
“Why… be— because I called you beautiful?” Tommy sighs; he decides to avoid drawing it out by lying and nods. Evan steps forward and grabs Tommy’s face, pulling him into a kiss. “Well you are,” another kiss, “Inside and out.” Tommy rolls his eyes, but Evan doesn’t let up. “You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Even on your worst days, when your hair is a mess and you have awful morning breath; still beautiful.”
Tommy is pretty sure his face is a degree off of catching on fire. “Ok, fine… I— I believe you.”
“Mmm, I don’t think you do,” Evan says teasingly. “So I guess I’ll just have to keep reminding you.”
Which he does, everyday. Soon beautiful becomes Evan’s baby, and he uses it everytime he sees Tommy.
And even if Tommy still struggles to view himself as such, he knows Evan thinks he is, and that’s enough.

———————————————— 𝜗𝜚 ————————————————
The sun warmed my body, a cool breeze blowing my hair ever so lightly. I stood between my step mother Athena, May and Maddie who had a distracted Jee-Yun on her hip. We sipped on our cold drinks and chatted, enjoying another 118 family barbecue.
I could feel his gaze burning into me, my suspicion confirmed when I turned my head to see Eddie sitting in a chair with his eyes glued on me, beer in hand and legs spread wide. Heat rose to my cheeks and pooled in my abdomen. He knew exactly what he was doing to me.
I send him a knowing look and a quick head tilt motioning to inside, a pang of guilt tugging at me as I did so. He nodded his head discreetly so only I knew he understood and he turned back into his conversation with Buck, Bobby and Chim.
I made my way inside the house and waited in the bathroom, using the time to fix my hair despite the fact it would undoubtedly be made into a mess again.
A knock finally came at the door. When I opened it his hands and lips were on mine in an instant, groping at my body with a hot need. Desperate and animalistic he pushed my body flush against his and backed us up to the bathroom counter. The evident bulge in his pants rubbing against the fabric covering my skin.
My fingers tangled into his dark hair, lips fighting against his. I could still taste the beer that he’d been drinking with my father on his tongue. His stubble grazed my chin as our faces moved against one another.
His fingers trail up my thighs, lifting my short sundress higher up my hips to slowly reveal the lace panties beneath. He hooks a finger in each side and yanks them down, I step out of them obediently, my lips barely leaving his.
Eddie’s kisses trail down my jaw and neck, stopping to lick a stripe along my exposed collarbone. Soft whimpers leave my reddened lips, begging for him.
We both knew we had to be fast and quiet, the thrill adding to the wet heat pooling between my legs. He doesn’t bother ridding me of my dress, instead pulling the straps off my shoulders and the bust down enough for my bare tits to spill out. The black of his pupils grow as he basks in the sight before him.
“I’ll never get over how beautiful you are, mi amor.”, he groans, taking one tit into his calloused hand. My mind was too clouded to argue back at him, I didn’t want to be his little secret anymore but I still came back to him every time. He was my one weakness.
I hastily fiddle with his belt, struggling to get it undone. Eddie chuckles and gets his pants undone himself.
His hands cup the underneath of my thighs and lift me up roughly onto the counter, the cold surface sending goosebumps across the skin of my legs.
In a swift movement he shoves our hips together, I gasp unexpectedly at his cock entering me. His thrusts push the edge of the counter into that back of my thighs repeatedly, his pace relentless and unfaltering.
My hands wander up his button up, feeling the defined muscles of his torso beneath it. The map of his body was ingrained in my mind, an image I’d often go back to.
Heavy breathing fills the small room, moans and grunts muffled by each other. One of his hands reaches up and presses against my lips, his eyes giving a stern warning to keep my vocals down.
My back arches, head falling back to lean on the mirror. One of my hand grasps onto the brunette's shoulder, nails digging into his soft flesh while the other grips the edge of the counter.
“I needed you as soon as I saw you,” he rasps out between grunts, “In that little dress. God, Hermosa.” His head leans into my body, tongue gliding across my nipple and swirling around the swollen bud. Every compliment used to convince myself I was enough for him, retold again and again in my head.
My leg’s tightened around his waist, the knot in my stomach tightening with every one of his hard thrusts. “Eddie.”, I whimper around his almost suffocatingly large hand.
“Be a good girl for me, okay?”, he husks. I nod my head up and down, screwing my eyes shut as my orgasm began to rock my body. At least he was good for one thing.
His pace only fastens, the muscles in his arms flexing as he slammed our pelvises together until we both came undone on one another.
Not even a moment later with a grunt he pulls away and absently he kisses the top of my head like he does every time, thinking somehow that it would convince me he cares more than a little.
Without a word he fixes himself up, tucking himself back into his pants and doing up his black belt. I watch him, my chest still pounding trying to steady my breathing.
“Don’t come out yet.”, he glances up and orders me, running a hand through his hair. I don’t protest and let him leave, closing the door behind him.
I sit there for a moment collecting my thoughts, legs weak and sore, left yet again with a feeling of disappointment in myself. My underwear lying discarded on the tiled floor, cum dripping down my exhausted legs.
I tug a piece of hair behind my ear, a silent tear falling down my flushed cheek.
How did I keep letting it happen?
———————————————— 𝜗𝜚 ————————————————
Eddie 10:45pm
Come over.
The message was short and simple, one sent and received many times before. But as hard as it was I had to say no. I had to break the cycle once and for all. Reluctantly and with a shaky breath in, I fired back a text.
Y/n 10:47pm
No. I’m not doing this anymore. I’ve found somebody else.
Several minutes pass by before my phone chimes again, I had started to think he wasn’t going to reply back at all. I felt sick, both wanting to get it over with and wanting to not look at it at all. I picked it up, scanning my eyes over the lit screen.
Eddie 10:56pm
okay.
That’s all it read, ‘okay’. My heart sank. I hated that he didn’t care but even more I hated that I thought he would have. It had been weeks since that time in the bathroom, our hookups came and went. Each time a failed attempt of breaking it off on my end. But over those weeks I had found solace in his best friend, Buck.
The two of us had grown closer than ever and one thing led to another. Unlike Eddie, Buck was not afraid of letting our relationship be known. Rather he was excited and proud. The cherry on top was that my father was surprisingly supportive of it, I knew that would really rub it in Eddie’s face.
Eddie hadn’t been made aware of the relationship, only now finding out I’m seeing someone from that message and now finding out that someone is Buck as I walk into the fire station arm in arm with the blond.
Eddie sits on the end of a workout bench, laughing along with something Chim or Hen said. But when his attention changes course onto us his smile is dropped.
Buck and I stop walking. We turn to face one another and I smile up at him as he does the same to me. The way he looks at me is different to any way Eddie ever did and it makes my stomach flutter. “Have a good day at work, baby.”, I tell Buck, finally happy and able to show love to someone I adore who equally if not even more loves me back.
He leans down as I reach to cup for his face, our lips meeting in a tender display of affection. A smirk tugs at my lips, I could feel that familiar stare on me, only this time it was better. I hoped it hurt him, like it hurt every time he left me.
If he couldn’t love me then his best friend would.

Congrats on 1k!!
Can you write Friends with benefits with Buck and the prompt 18.“Please don’t cry.”
Thank you so much, lovely!
cw: make out session, hurt/comfort
prompt used: “Please don’t cry.”
The bathroom wall as cold as Buck pushed you up against it, his lips pressing to your neck. He was doing his best to be quick and quiet, not wanting to disturb the other members of the 118. You two of had been sneaking around for months, deciding to becoming friends with benefits after a drunken night together.
You both were able to get exactly what you wanted without all the “feelings” bullshit. And it was working like a charm. And it seemed like no one had suspected it either. It seemed that the rest of the 118 had absolutely no idea that the two of you were hooking up and that was exactly the way you liked it.
It wasn’t like you were ashamed of your arrangement with Buck, not at all. It was that you didn’t want Bobby to find out because you were sure that he would have no choice to transfer one of you and how could you have your quickies in the bathroom when you were working for different departments?
Buck unbuttoned your shirt to have more access to your neck as he grazed the spot with his teeth, causing you to let out a loud moan. He always knew exactly what you liked and how to get you to make the noises he liked.
Your fingers dug into his shoulder, right beside his walkie and he let out a moan of his own as the feeling, your fingers absentmindedly massaging the muscle.
“Hey,” he said, removing your fingers from his shoulders. “As nice as that is. This is about you.”
“But-”
“No,” he shook his head. “You disobeyed me and now you’re going to be punished.”
“Oh? And are you gonna spank me?” You asked, batting your eyelashes and that was it for Buck. You always knew exactly what to do to drive him fucking crazy.
“Maybe,” he said, leaning closer so that his lips were right by your ear. “Depends on how good of a girl you are.” That was enough to drive you mad. You were even more hungry for him than you were before. He pressed his lips to yours and you were quick to take his bottom one between your teeth, giving it a soft nibble.
You felt Buck hands move down to your ass, giving it a hard squeeze and you let out a yelp in response before pushing him away. You had been in there quite some time and the rest of the team was surely suspicious. Buck just looked at you with that pout that usually made you give into him. But not this time. If you kept giving into him, someone would have surely found out and you couldn’t have that.
“C’mon Buckley,” you pulled him out of the stall, but had him wait a few minutes before he came out.
You snuck out of bathroom, fixing your hair and buttoning your shirt as you did so, making sure that nothing was out of place as you headed back into the main part of the station. You noticed everyone looking at you warily as you moved further towards the stairs, wondering what the odd looks were for. Had you not fixed you hair enough?
You turned around to Buck who was behind you and could see that he had no idea what was going on either. Bobby, who had halted his wiping down the engine waved the both of you over. You both slowly made your way over to him, knowing exactly what he was going to say. The whole charade was going to be over and one of you would be transferred to a different department. There was absolutely no way around it.
You gulped as you finally got to him, Buck now standing in front of you as a way to protect you. His hand reached for yours as Bobby eyed the two of you, looking back and forth between you before leaning forward so only the two of you could hear him.
“Next time you two decide to do something like that, make sure that your walkies are unplugged.” He then turned and continued to wipe down the engine as if he hadn’t said anything at all.
At first you were confused at his words, but then your cheeks burned as his words sunk in. Your chest was suddenly tight and you felt like you couldn’t breathe. You hurried to the parking lot, feeling your breathing getting shallow as Buck followed you, calling your name. But how could-
Unless-no. There was no way. How could the buttons of your walkies have been pressed without your knowledge? You supposed that it sort of made sense since it took practically no pressure to press the buttons down. But now that meant that the entire 118 had heard the two of you making out in the bathroom. Now you kind of wanted to transfer. There was no way you could ever look any of them in the eye again. Not even Buck. Especially not Buck.
Buck followed you all the way to your car, hoping that he could catch you before you could drive away. He had no idea how that happened and hoped that you weren’t blaming yourself even though you definitely were. But it wasn’t your fault. It was just an unfortunate accident and now he was going to pay for it. He wouldn’t let you take the fall. He couldn’t. Not when he loved you more than his poor heart could take.
Now that your arrangement was out in the open, this would have been the perfect opportunity to tell you that he had been in love with you the entire time. That working with you was the best part of his day and that he always felt his heart flutter when you would pull him into the bathroom.
As much as he loved what was going on between the two of you, he couldn’t help but think about what it would have been to have you fall asleep in his arms instead leaving as soon as the act was over. He wanted to tell you just how pretty he thought you were and not feel weird about it afterwards. He wanted you to be the one who he went to bed with every night and wake up to only you every morning, telling you that he needed five more minutes as he snuggled further into you, burying his face into your neck, breathing in your intoxicating scent.
Buck got to you just as you were opening your car door. This was his chance and he had to make it count. He rested his hand on your shoulder and turned you around to face him, not missing how you wiped the snot from your nose onto your sleeve or how your cheeks were now stained with tears.
“Y/n-” He paused, his hands moving to wipe away your tears with the pads of his thumbs. “Please don’t cry,” he said softly, continuing to wipe the tears that fell. You looked up at him, feeling your heart warm at the sweet gesture. You wrapped your arms around his waist as you buried your face into his neck, letting the sobs rake through you now that he couldn’t see your face.
Buck’s hands moved to your back, rubbing them up and down it as a way to comfort you, trying to wrack his brain for something to say to get you to stop crying. When he saw those few tears, he could have sworn that he could hear his heart actually break at the sight.
“When Bobby sits us down…” he took a deep breath. “I’m going to tell him to transfer me.” He felt the weight of your head disappear as you looked him in the eyes, now getting angry.
“No, he’s going to transfer me,” you argued. “That’s your family, Buck,” you pointed to the building.
“They’re your family too,” he fired back.
“But you’ve been here much longer than me. Please let me go.”
“I can’t,” he shook his head, feeling his own eyes getting misty.
“You’d really transfer from the people you love most? Why would you do that?” You were crying again and Buck couldn’t take it. It was now or never.
“Because I-” he cut himself off, choking down his fear.
“Because what, Buck?”
“Because I love you!” The words came out more forceful than he intended, but there were out and he couldn’t take them back. Not that he wanted to. He watched your eyes widen, searching your face for any sign of emotion other than shock. But then your face broke out in a huge smile and you threw yourself into his arms, wrapping yours around his neck.
“I love you too, Buckley,” your smile widened as you pressed your lips to his and he was quick to return it. You both poured everything into that kiss in front of your car, emotions that you been holding back for months, all out in the open now. And you both knew that no matter what happened with your careers, you at least had each other.

...........................................
“twins?”
lying on the hospital stretcher, with an icy gel on your low stomach, you could hear Buck’s startled murmur as he repeated the doctor’s words. You were completely shocked. As if finding out the pregnancy wasn’t scare enough, you’re having twins?
Your hands were shaking and sweating, your mind was a completely mess, fear was growing in your chest. What if you weren’t good enough, what if-
“baby?” Buck’s voice woke you from your thoughts and you could see the worried look on his beautiful face. “are you feeling okay?”
“y-yes, i-i just-“
“i’ll give you a moment”
The doctor said as she wiped the gel from your belly and soon left the room leaving you two alone.
“i-i don’t know if- how can we-“
“hey hey, calm down” He held your face in his hands and his eyes met yours. “I am scared to death about this too. But we’re going to make it, we’ve faced so much so far, all the obstacles that have come our way and we’ve faced them. We are going to make it, we are going to have these babies and they are going to learn about the greatest love in the world, because they are going to be raised by us”
“and by the 118” You added and let out a muffled laugh. He let out a wide smile and you could see how his eyes formed little wrinkles as his smile grew. “i love you so much”
“i love you guys too” He put his hands on your stomach and gave you a little peck in your lips.
It was finally Thanksgiving morning. You and Buck agreed to wait until today to tell everyone about the pregnancy. You were helping Athena and Maddie in the kitchen, while the rest of the team was setting Bobby and Athena’s house for lunch. You didn’t wake up well this morning, the nausea that you thought was over showed its face again. You excused yourself and quickly went to the bathroom, throwing up what you didn’t even know you had in your stomach. After you cleaned yourself up you came out of the bathroom and bumped into a frowning Maddie.
“Are you feeling all right? This is the second time you’ve run to the bathroom to-“
You noticed her eyes widen and the glow of understanding appeared on her face. And your eyes widened too.
“oh my god. You are preg-“
Before she could finish her sentence you dragged her into the bathroom with you and quickly closed the door. Your heart was racing and now Maddie’s eyes were filled with tears.
“Why didn’t you tell me? How far along are you? oh my god, my brother is going to be a father. Jee is going to have a cousin” She kept murmuring and you smiled at your sister-in-law’s excitement. When your eyes met she gave a huge smile. “and how are you doing? i am so happy for you”
She hugged you tight, and you didn’t even realize you had tears in your eyes until they rolled off your face.
“that’s why Buck hasn’t taken his eyes off you all morning” You nodded, still teary-eyed, and tried to pull yourself together.
“Maddie you can’t tell anyone. We will announce it this afternoon, it’s still a surprise”
“yeah of course. I’ll try to keep my mouth shut” You gave her a serious look and she laughed. “i promise I’ll keep my mouth shut” As soon as you left the bathroom Buck was standing in the doorway with a worried look on his face.
“Is everything okay?”
“Everything is great” Maddie exclaimed with her hands up and burst out laughing. As soon as she left Buck looked at you confused and you sighed.
“she knows” you both spoke together and smiled.
The table was set, everyone was seated, and Bobby began a speech about the things he was grateful for this year. He was about to start the meal, when Buck asked to speak.
“ahn, i-i’d like to- i-i’m-“
He started to stutter and you held his hand under the table. He took a deep breath looking into your eyes and your smile gave him the strength to continue.
“i am extremely grateful for this family, the 118 family, I think you all remember that I didn’t go through my best phase in the beginning, but with your help I can say that I have become a better firefighter and a better person. And I am grateful for the woman who chose me. A few years have passed since we decided to give this relationship a chance and I could never have imagined that this would become the best thing in my life, the best part of me. But today in particular I am grateful because she gave me the opportunity to be a father and I am grateful for the babies in her belly”
“what?” Eddie was the first to ask while everyone stared at you in astonishment.
“oh my god, babies? As two babies?" Maddie exclamed with tears in her eyes.
And when you confirmed it the celebration began. Everyone came up to you to congratulate and tell you how much these babies would be loved. How great you would be as parents, and of course lots of jokes about how they didn’t believe Buck could do anything good like winning you over and now getting you pregnant, you’re too much for Buck. You couldn’t have dreamed of a different scenario, a better one. The look on Buck’s face, his sincere smile on his lips as he told about the day you found out together that you were pregnant, the love that radiated from everyone around you, the caresses on your belly and the loving comments, the warm hugs.
That was the true meaning of family for you. The joy, the talking, the pregnancy planning, the hugs and smiles, went on throughout the day. And it went on during the months that followed, the homemade meals made especially for you, the gifts sent for the babies, the help to set up the babies’ room.
They were your true family.
When the day finally arrived ahead of schedule, you were home alone. Despite the fear and desperation you did what you had spent months preparing for. While on the way you called your boyfriend, you didn’t expect that you would arrive at the hospital practically together with a truck full of anxious firemen who came straight out of a call to the hospital. The nurses couldn’t stop talking about how loved you were and how anxious the firemen and their partners in the waiting room were.
And the moment has finally arrived. The Buckley babies have arrived into this world, and you and Buck couldn’t be happier.
Your family was now complete.

a/n: guys!!! i love this i can’t wait for a new buck in s7 :)) anyway, 1989 TV SO SOON GUYS WTF, it feels like yesterday was red tv 😧
the lightning had taken care of the other fires in buck. he was different, and he couldn’t tell if he hated it or loved it at first.
the man he was was reckless and like a shiny new toy for someone to play with. he allowed people to string him along and pull at his arms until he did what they wanted. it almost felt like his purpose, to be a prop for everyone else.
he thought y/n would leave him soon after the strike. everyone else liked to do the same thing. his parents giving up on him after his youthful mistakes, abby fleeing because he wasn’t enough for her, aly fearing her future with him. he thought y/n would crack under the pressure of almost losing someone like buck, now he hates himself for second guessing her.
he started to appreciate the smallest things in his girlfriend. the softness of her words, the light reflection of sun in her eyes, the cotton-like skin on her hands as they grazed over it. he almost didn’t want to face her after the accident, but she was clutching onto his hand when he woke up. and, there hasn’t been a day where she hasn’t reminded him that she’s going nowhere.
she knew bucks scars as she watched them all get handed to him. she knew how silently fragile he was. he could see it clearly in her as well, noticing each fear of hers and the love she’s pushed away. it was foreign to both of them, the tenderness of each other.
it’s been years since they began dating, and somehow every day is brand new with them. y/n doesn’t ever believe that buck has something to make up. but, he thinks so. he’s been spending years begging for love, and now he has it. now, he wants to show the world what he has after it tried to strip him of everything.
it doesn’t matter how long a shift was, when buck was back to work, every free moment was spent on her heels. he used to go through work, only looking around to see who maybe looked at him. now, he looks forward to see his girl waiting for him wherever he may be.
today was no different, y/n was stocking the engine full of brand new supplies from the new shipment. the trucks glazed red popped out from her perfect polishing on the sides.
“this truck looks almost as good as you,” buck whispers, placing his hand on the side of her waist, making her jump in place.
“and what are you supposed to be doing right now?” she teases back.
“taking it easy, like you and bobby told me!”
“so you come and flirt with your already girlfriend? professional hours baby, remember?”
“those are boring, though. i just want to take you home and never leave.” he sighs, placing his chin on her head.
“just a few more hours, i believe in you!” she encourages, making him smirk and land his lips on her cheek, running away like a little kid.
y/n stood with buck at the island of the kitchen, smelling over bobby’s new dishes that he had prepared for the team. he made several things for a feast amongst everyone, getting a well deserved break.
she could practically feel buck breathing on her neck as he peered over her shoulder. normally, someone doing that would be insufferable, but buck makes it seem normal. it makes her smile, knowing how close he always wishes to be.
“if i didn’t know any better i’d think you were conjoined twins.” chimney takes a turn at his own joke, trying not to laugh at himself. he gets a smile from y/n, but the fakest look you ever did see from buck.
“i’m gonna slap you and i hope it shocks you.” buck snaps back, half joking but also half annoyed as well. chimney takes his plate and scurries away.
buck makes two plates as y/n grabs them drinks from the fridge, moving over to place it in the seat next to her. before she can even think about sitting, buck slightly runs into her with his hip. he places the plates down perfectly on the mats before pulling her chair out. she gazes at him, noticing the cheesy grin on his lips. the team stops to notice his abruptness on pulling out her chair, and kissing her head as she sits.
as the dinner closes, and the sun dips lower, the calls come in slower. luckily, the shift is just ending, so it’s just buck and y/n left in the kitchen as she scrubs away at a bowl. he sneaks up behind her, grabbing a dish to dry from her.
“hi, honey,” he says, looking down at her.
“hi, buck,” she smiles back, noticing the excitement on his face just getting to be near her. “do you wanna talk?”
“about what?”
“i just want to make sure you’re okay, baby,” her kindness and concern comes through her angelic voice, buck almost getting distracted by the sound of her.
“i’m fine!” he replies. “just been thinkin’”
“we can talk about it if you’d like.”
“maybe later, i just can’t wait for us to go home together.” he dries the plate as y/n scoops them all up, buck wrapping his arms around her waist and tucking his face into her neck. he locks his fingers together and rests them on her belly. she just giggles, waddling over to the cabinet where she slides the dishes in. it would’ve been easier if she wasn’t like a tree to a sloth, but easier isn’t always for the best.
the car ride home in his truck was nothing less than romantic. his hand was rested on her thighs the whole time if it wasn’t on the gear shift or the wheel. she practically had to keep touching him somehow to make him keep his eyes on the road.
when the duo finally arrived at home, she looked over at buck and could tell how sleepy he was. his eyes told her everything, and she can read him like a book now that she’s admired him for so long. “hey, go shower and come back down here.”
buck agrees, taking a quick shower and changing into some more comfortable clothes. when he walks back down the stairs, he can smell the sweetener of his favorite tea wafting through the living room, as y/n sits down in her soft sweater and places the mugs on the couch. they’re matching LAFD mugs that y/n’s parents bought for them. she turned on reruns of new girl as she moved to grab a blanket from the basket, leaning against the arm of the couch.
“come on,” she sweetly curls his lips up at him, signaling for him to come lay with her. he happily obliges, going to sit between her legs on his side, the side of his face buried into y/n’s warm chest.
the tightness of her arms wrapped around him eases any weight of the day or stress on his body. he lets himself relax in her hold, knowing she’ll keep him safe from whatever might come his way next.
one of her arms is rubbing his back as the other cups his face as he appears to be intently watching the show, but he’s not.
he thinks of small y/n and buck mixes running around a small house in los angeles, the sun shining through the curtains early in the morning. he thinks of the smell of ice cream and the reflection of the moon on the windows as they get ready for bed. he thinks of a warm vacation with a shining rock on her ring finger.
“i can’t wait to see you in a big, white dress,” he mumbles into her shirt, smiling just at the thought of seeing her on a carpet, walking down an isle to greet him.
“what is going on in that mind of yours?” she teases, brushing her fingers through his hair.
“i just- i don’t want anyone else but you,” he begins. “you could’ve ran. you could’ve left me in the dark, but you didn’t. you’re the only person who hasn’t done that to me. i trust you, and i know you won’t. it’s my turn to show you that i’m here to stay, and that we’re forever.”
“listen,” she starts next, the clear adoration in her eyes. “i would lay on this couch, all day, every day, if it meant you’d come back to me. id do anything, and literally anything, to spend the rest of my life with you. im sorry for every other woman who can’t be with a man like you.”
he doesn’t know how to compete with sentences like that. it feels brand new, even though she tells him all the time. it feels different after the lightning strike. someone above tried so hard to ruin the best things he had going on, but he pulled through. he wants to think he’s strong on his own, but buck knows he wouldn’t be here if y/n wasn’t next to him. if she hasn’t picked up the pieces that everyone left behind, if she hadn’t taken the time to put him back together.
now, buck barely thinks of all the shit that’s happened to him. how could he, when the future is definite right in front of him? he used to just assume his life would be the same forever, but y/n’s flashlight guided him out of the cave he was in. he sleeps in her arms without a fear that she’ll disappear from him, and without a fear that things are out for him.

Happiness, love, cohabitation (Clipboards and couches notwithstanding)
a.k.a. Tommy's still smitten by Clipboard Buck. (sequel to To Do List: Me (Buck's Tasklist)
“I hope you’re ready for this,” Eddie says under his breath, just as the moving truck pulls in.
“Ready for what?” Tommy asks, shielding his eyes against the sun. “Happiness? Love? Cohabitation?”
Eddie just gives him a look. Perhaps there’s a reason that he’s the only person from the 118 that volunteered to help today. Hen and Howie were conveniently otherwise engaged. Cowards.
“You know exactly what I’m talking about,” he says darkly, nodding at the gleam of Buck’s truck down the road. It sounds ridiculous but Tommy’s stomach still dips a little at the mere suggestion of Buck.
“Evan’s moving in today,” Tommy says, choosing to ignore every single thinly veiled, ominous word out of Eddie’s mouth. “I swear to you, I have no idea.”
“Yes, you do,” Eddie says, as Buck pulls in, the flatbed still somehow piled high despite the large truck filled with Buck’s belongings. It hadn’t made a lot of sense for Tommy to move into Buck’s loft so it had been an easy decision. Tommy lives close enough to the 118 that it’s not that much more of a commute for Buck. “But you’re being a dick about it.”
“I told you,” Tommy says easily, as Buck climbs out, balancing a box on his knee as he shuts the door. “I’m happy.” Eddie just shakes his head.
“We’ll see how long that lasts,” he promises, as Buck bounds over.
“Hi,” Tommy says and Buck beams back, beautiful and soft.
“Hi,” Buck returns, almost looking uncertain. Tommy’s had to face a few wobbly moments in the past few weeks. But he gathers that the past few times Buck’s moved in with someone it hasn’t gone very well.
“It’s not until Eddie pointedly clears his throat that Tommy realizes they’re just standing in the drive, with the removal men waiting patiently.
“Sorry we were a bit late,” Buck apologizes, looking as flustered as Tommy feels. They’re still in the ‘honeymoon stage’ as Hen likes to quip. Which is bull, because Tommy knows that when it’s the right person that it never just goes away. Hen and Karen for starters, are not exempt. “There was some trouble getting the furniture down the stairwell. I don’t remember it being so difficult to move in…”
“That’s because it was flat packed, Buck,” Eddie says and rolls his shoulders. “Where do we start?”
And then - alright, so Tommy had been expecting it, he had - Buck reaches into the cardboard box and pulls out a clipboard.
The look that Eddie gives him is very nearly worth it.
“I fucking told you,” Eddie says, tipping back the bottle of water until it’s empty. “God, I just knew it.”
“So you did,” Tommy says and Eddie crumples up the bottle.
“Are you telling me that you don’t see it?” he demands, tossing the bottle towards the recycling. “Are you seriously telling me that Clipboard Buck is just…Buck to you?”
Tommy’s been hearing about Clipboard Buck for nearly as long as he’s been dating Buck. Like Maurice, the jinx and the heist, it’s one of those things that seems to just pass into the 118 lore. Clipboard Buck is like a unicorn that occasionally appears before vanishing once more. If unicorns wore frowns and clicked their pens if you forgot to follow his exacting instructions.
The thing is that Tommy doesn’t mind. Everyone has their quirks. Howard smacks his gum, Hen frequently forgets to turn off her mothering, Eddie veers to the over dramatic. It’s just one of those things you learn to live with for someone you love.
“It’s endearing,” he says defensively, while Eddie snorts. “Besides, you just have to know how to use it.”
Eddie pauses, mouth open, before he wrinkles his nose. It didn’t take him long to think of the implications.
To be fair, it hadn’t taken Tommy all that long either the first time he’d seen Buck with a clipboard.
“Actually,” Eddie says, grabbing a few new bottles of water from the fridge. “I really don’t want to know.”
“Want to know what?” Buck asks, appearing in the doorway. It’s been hard work - it’s a beautifully sunny Los Angeles day and even with Buck’s loft, there’s still an astounding amount of stuff that needs to be moved in and arranged. Tommy’s - now theirs - bedroom has a significant pile of boxes lined up against the far wall.
Absolutely nothing obstructing the bed. Tommy had been very clear about that.
“What you do with that clipboard,” Eddie says bluntly and ducks out. Tommy reaches out to grab hold of Buck’s waist and pull him closer, deftly removing the clipboard from his grasp.
“This isn’t unpacking,” Buck says against Tommy’s bottom lip. Tommy slides a hand down the curve of Buck’s rear and isn’t surprised that Buck doesn’t take a whole lot of persuading to lean in. They’re pressed together, chests down to knees, and Tommy is pretty sure that Eddie handing out water to the removal guys can at least buy them a few minutes.
“We deserve a break,” Tommy insists and kisses him.
And yeah, a break turns into a few minutes of making out like horny teenagers against the kitchen island but sometimes you take what you have to to get through the day.
“This is going to make it very difficult to move the bookcase,” Buck sighs, letting Tommy kiss along his jaw.
“How’s the list?” Tommy asks, because that’s another, unforeseen advantage of Buck’s clipboard. Aside from the very memorable occasions where Buck writes out every awesomely filthy want in his head (to be ticked off meticulously) it also gives them an end goal for when everyone else goes home.
“Getting there,” Buck says, sliding a hand around Tommy’s neck. “A few more boxes, some bigger items. Are you sure all this stuff is going to fit?” Tommy shrugs. He hadn’t worried about it too much. He’s got the space and they’re both off tomorrow. Tonight they can christen the bed and unpack Buck’s essentials and tomorrow they can make a start on combining their lives.
“We’ll manage,” Tommy soothes. He can hear noises outside and they don’t have long but he wants to keep Buck here for just a moment longer. He smells faintly of sweat and lemon shower gel and Tommy wants to just keep breathing it in.
But when they emerge from the kitchen - the back of Buck’s hair rather obviously ruffled - they encounter an obstacle in the living room. Literally.
“We’ll have to shift that,” Tommy notes, because there’s not quite enough space for his couch, Buck’s couch, and the armchair. “It’s not exactly going to…Buck?”
Because Buck is staring, wide-eyed at the collection of furniture currently crowding Tommy’s front room.
“You have a couch,” Buck says and Tommy blinks.
“Yes,” he says. “Most people do.”
“I have a couch,” Buck says and Tommy is completely lost. He’s learned a lot of things about Buck by now - the jealousy (the incident with Sal was a good indicator,) the insecurities, the abandonment issues, and the obvious Clipboard Tyrant tendencies. Not one of them has been a deal breaker, despite Buck’s concerns.
But this is new.
“Still not seeing the problem here, Evan,” Tommy says. Eddie passes by the open doorway, hands now empty of water bottles. He sticks his head through, and briefly makes a confused face at Tommy behind Buck’s back.
“My previous couches came with girlfriends,” Buck explains and Eddie hurriedly disappears again.
“Did this couch come with a girlfriend?” Tommy asks, eying the blue three-seater that’s been wedged up against the wall.
“Look, I never had a couch because I lived in a frat house and then with Abby. And then couch one was chosen by Ali, who left me. Couch two had to go when Taylor moved in and then she moved out and I didn’t have a couch. And then my mom bought me a couch but Cameron had her baby on it and Couch four had to go to Goodwill because it was chosen by Natalia the Death Doula.”
“I see,” Tommy says, although he really doesn’t. But there’s not a lot of point in trying to decipher Buck when he babbles like this. “So. You bought this couch. By yourself?”
“No girlfriends,” Buck says and gestures to the couch in question. “Statistically, I don’t have the best luck with couches. Or girlfriends. If I get rid of this couch, I’m starting the cycle all over again. I know Hen told me to stop counting but if I buckle on this it’s very not Buck 5.0.”
Not one word of that made sense to Tommy. But he knows when Buck is spiraling and for some reason right now, Buck is spiraling.
“Evan,” Tommy says and rests his hands on either side of Buck’s face. He strokes his thumbs over Buck’s cheeks until he stops talking. “It’s fine. We can keep your couch. Mine can go downstairs or we can move the armchair. You don’t need to get rid of it.”
“I don’t?” Buck asks, looking dumbfounded.
“No,” Tommy says firmly. He still doesn’t quite understand it but the thing is that he doesn’t need to to soothe Buck. Buck’s worried about something and he can fix it. That’s all there is. “We’ll sort it out tomorrow. Your couch looks nice up here.”
“Okay,” Buck mumbles and then slumps against Tommy. “Thanks.”
“Of course,” Tommy says and presses a kiss against the port-wine stain of Buck’s birthmark.
They stay like that for a while, wrapped around each other, Buck tucking his head in the curve of Tommy’s neck.
“I knew there might be complications moving in together, I just didn’t expect something like that,” Tommy says frankly when Buck finally lifts his head up.
“I’ll explain later,” Buck says, looking a little sheepish now that the moment of panic is over. “We should get the rest of the stuff in. Where’s Eddie?”
“Run away like a chicken,” Tommy says. “Does he know about the couch theory?”
“He knows,” Buck says darkly. Okay, maybe this is another part of the 118 lore - and Tommy needs to remember to ask later about the Buck labeling system. What was Buck 1.0? Does he even want to know?
When they emerge out into the sunshine again, the removal men and Eddie are sitting on the grass out front, drinking water.
“All good?” Eddie asks and Buck offers him a hand.
“Good,” he says, pulling Eddie up. “Are we nearly done?”
“You tell me,” Eddie says, putting his hands on his hips and looking at Tommy. It’s very much saying ‘You asked for this.’
But all Tommy can think as Buck hurries back inside for his clipboard is that yes, he absolutely did.

“A transfer?” Bobby said, incredulously.
“Yeah..” Tommy confirmed, feigning nonchalance. “I, uh. I used to fly a little.. back in the army, and.. I kind of miss it, I guess.”
“Really?” Bobby asked skeptically, searching Tommy through narrowed eyes as if he was keeping his real reasons in a secret pocket somewhere.
Tommy nodded. Not making eye contact.
“Listen, Tommy. I know me coming here was a big change. And Deluca leaving.. really shook the team up.”
“It’s nothing you did, Captain Nash. I actually agreed with your decision with Sal. I.. I’ve agreed with every decision you’ve made for this house.”
“So you support my leadership, have built a healthy connection with your team, and are.. frankly, thriving here, and.. You still feel the need to uproot yourself?”
Tommy’s jaw tightened. But he nodded. “I guess I always knew I wasn’t going to stay here forever.. And, I feel like you’re gonna find better people to fill out this crew. I mean, I get that you’re not trying to actively recruit them now.. but.. you’ll find them.”
Bobby didn’t know what to say.
“You know that you’re a part of this, right? I see the future of the 118, and I see you in it. I don’t think of you as.. being on the outside in any way, Tommy.”
Bobby watched as a whole fleet of emotions tore through Tommy’s silence.
“I believe you that you think that, Cap. But.. I.. don’t.”
“Oh..” Bobby said, trying not to feel like he’d been punched in the gut. “I am sorry to hear that, Tommy. I didn’t realize..”
“Again, it’s nothing that you did. I appreciate the way that everyone has accepted me as part of this.. ‘New 118’, and believe me.. It’s a hell of a lot better than the old one. I just can’t help feeling like..” Tommy shook his head. “This is a great house, it’s just not my house.”
But it could be! Bobby wanted to say.
But he recognized the look in Tommy’s eyes. He recognized it like looking in a mirror. The feeling that when things were getting too good, you had to get out before it all collapsed on top of you..
He wanted to tell Tommy that it was okay to let things be better. To let people in and allow them to help you to hold up the good things, so that they wouldn’t necessarily tend toward collapse over time.
If he, Chim, and Hen all wanted Tommy on their team - Tommy should trust that, and not just.. remove himself because - for whatever reason - he didn’t feel that he deserved something nice, and warm, and stable, and.. healthy.
But Bobby was not capable of giving that speech.
Not when he himself didn’t believe it.
He knew his time with the 118 was numbered as well. His eyes subconsciously flicker to his little black book.
“I understand why you feel like you need to move on,” Bobby said, even if he didn’t fully understand, he understood enough. “Just know, this is not what we would have chosen. I wish you the best at the 217. It truly is our loss.”

Tommy is a dumbass, but Buck loves him anyways.
Just because it seems warranted on tonight of all nights, I'm sharing a bit of my current WIP. This was all written before tonight's episode, so it doesn't match up with canon.
Subject to change before it gets posted to AO3 because I'm trying this crazy thing where I actually write the whole fic before I start posting chapters.
-------------
Tommy threw the strap of his duffle bag over his shoulder and wearily trudged up the front steps of his house, ready to sleep and wallow for the next two days until it was time to go back on shift.
He went to unlock his front door and paused as the handle turned easily in his hand. He wasn’t the type to forget to lock up and it didn’t look like the door had been forced. He cautiously pushed the door open and eased into the house. He set down his bag carefully and grabbed the baseball bat he kept propped next to the door. (Look, his neighborhood was safe enough, but this was LA and weird shit happened all the time.)
Gripping the baseball bat tightly, Tommy made his way down the front hallway, ear cocked for the noise of intruders. As he approached the living room, the sounds of a baseball game on the tv got louder.
“Goddamit, he was safe,” a familiar voice shouted, and Tommy eased up his grip on the bat. He set it down as he walked into his living room and spotted Eddie stretched out on his couch, a bottle of his beer in hand as he watched the Rangers losing to the Cubs.
“Diaz,” he said, “What the fuck are you doing in my house?”
“Kinard,” Eddie snarked back in return. “Just stopping by to see if you were going senile in your old age. See, my best friend, Buck, you remember him? Came to my house with a hilarious story about you trying to dump him. Given the fact I had to drag you past that jewelry store when you started staring at engagement rings in the window the last time we went out to catch a movie, I find it a little hard to believe.” Eddie took long drink of his beer as he cocked an eyebrow at Tommy.
Tommy huffed and stalked out of the room to go to the kitchen. If he’s going to do this, he’s at least going to have a beer. He yanked open the door of his fridge with a little too much force, knocking a few magnets loose and sending a handful of pictures to drift to the floor. He grabs a beer and sets in on the counter before bending down to pick up the photos.
Evan and him in a beach selfie, a shot of Tommy and Evan on either side of Christopher from the first time Tommy tagged along to the zoo, a photo of the 118 in their Halloween Fest finery and a shot of Tommy swinging Jee around in Bobby and Athena’s backyard. He stacks them neatly and places them next to his beer on the counter.
He wants to put them back up, where they belong. But they don’t really belong there now that he told Evan goodbye. He picks up the stack again and opens the junk drawer. He closes the drawer again and then sets the pile face down to be dealt with later. He grabs his beer and heads back to his living room and his ex-boyfriend’s best friend.
Eddie is still shouting at the tv when he returns. He waits until Tommy sits down next to him to pout, “Where’s my beer?”
“You invited yourself, you can get your own damn beer,” Tommy growls. He makes a point of relaxing back into the couch and keeps his eyes trained on the tv. “How’d you get in anyways?” Tommy would have remembered giving Eddie a key.
“Switched keys with Buck.”
Tommy turns to look at Eddie, confused. “Then how did Evan drive home?”
“Man, other then the key for your house and one for Maddie’s place, 99% of our keys are the same. I have the spare for the Jeep and he has the spare for the truck in case one of us gets locked out.”
Tommy shakes his head at this new revelation. “Anyone ever tell you how weirdly codependent you two are?”
“We are not codependent, we are practical and efficient,” Eddie said in an affronted tone.“Besides, where’s your spare key for the truck?” he asked, his smirk communicating that he already knew the answer.
“With Evan,” Tommy confirmed. “Which means you currently have it. You should give me those keys before you leave.”
“Nope. You’re going to have to talk to Buck if you want your keys back,” Eddie said.
“We could trade, Buck’s house key for mine?” Tommy tried.
“No deal. If Buck doesn’t want you to have a key, he’ll ask for it back. Besides, half of LA has keys to Buck’s place at this point.”
“What?” Tommy said, surprise in his voice.
“Well, dude gets hurt so often and usually doesn’t have a partner to help out so everybody pitches in. Off the top of my head there’s me, Maddie, Bobby, Hen, Chim, Albert, Ravi, May, Chris of course, Carla, and there’s a spare at the firehouse on the master key ring. Oh, and the neighbors across the hall have a key.”
“Why would the neighbors need a key?”
“Buck locked himself out one time taking out the trash on the super’s night off so he asked Rose and Ethel to keep a key just in case. Worked out, because they don’t mind watering his plants when he’s in the hospital for more then a few days.”
“Rose and Ethel? Does he live across the hall from septuagenarians?”
Eddie huffed, “Worse, trust fund babies. But they’re harmless. I’m surprised you haven’t met them yet.”
“Wait, does one of them have a septum piercing and the other one has pink hair?”
“Ironically, Rose is the one with the piercing. Anyways, stop trying to distract me and answer the damn question. What the hell, Kinard?” Eddie speared him with a piercing stare.
“I could kick you out,” Tommy said under his breath, although apparently not quiet enough.
“You could try,” Eddie scoffed.
Tommy side-eyed Eddie. He knew he could take the slighter man, but he also knew he didn’t want to. He wasn’t quite ready to give up on the friendships he’d made or rekindled through his connection to Evan. Sure, Eddie was acting in his role as Evan’s best friend right now, but they had their own relationship.
“Why are you here?” Tommy asked, frustration evident. He hadn’t expected that Eddie would want anything to do with him after he had broken up with Evan and he’d tried to make his peace with that.
“My friend is being a dumbass, where else would I be? Seriously, man, what’s going on?” Eddie asked, and Tommy wants to talk about it, but he can’t trust it will stay between them.
That was always the problem with his friendship with Eddie, it included Evan. He got that they were a package deal, and when he and Evan were good that wasn’t a problem. But now, he couldn’t just unload on Eddie and not expect it to get back to Evan.
“I’m not talking to you about this. I get that you want to help, but this is between me and Evan.” He tried to resist asking, but the curiosity won out. “What did he tell you?”
“Just that you blindsided him and started talking about taking some time apart, that he needed to get out there and explore his sexuality” and how you didn’t want to hold him back. At least, that’s what I could make out before he doom spiraled and started dissecting the past month to figure out what he had done wrong.” Eddie narrowed his eyes at him. “You know he was expecting you to ask him to move in at that dinner, right?”
And Tommy can see how Evan might have come to that conclusion when he’d asked him over. They’d been together 8 months and Evan spent more nights at Tommy’s then at his own loft. Evan bought groceries and brought them to his house so he could try out new recipes and he’d started hinting about how the backyard was big enough for a dog and Tommy had realized that half the laundry he’d folded last week had belonged to Evan.
And he could see it, his future with Evan. A shared home, a supportive group of family and friends, hosting Thanksgiving because Evan really wants to deep fry a turkey and no one will let him try it at their homes. Marriage and kids and pets and joy. An end to the search, an end to being alone, the beginning of the rest of his life.
And he panicked. Because 8 months ago Evan thought he was straight, he’d never kissed a man other then Tommy and one day he was going to wake up and realize that he settled for the first guy to make a move on him. And then he’d resent Tommy and it would be the beginning of the end.
So instead of asking Evan to move in, he’d sent him away. At least, he’d tried to.
He’d stumbled through a standard break up speech, the kind of thing he’d heard dozens of times during his life. It’s not you, it’s me. This is moving too fast. I think we should take some time apart, explore our options.
And Evan had frowned at him, his brow furrowed as if Tommy was speaking a foreign language. He’d stuttered out a “Wh-what the fuck are you talking about?”midway through Tommy’s speech and then as Tommy kept trying to make him understand he’d started laughing. He’d actually patted the back of Tommy’s hand and said simply “No.”
It had stopped Tommy in his tracks. “No? You can’t refuse a breakup, Evan,” Tommy had said.
“Sure I can. I’m going to go and let you have your ‘time apart’ but this is not finished between us, Kinard.” And then he’d left and apparently headed straight for Eddie.
“Earth to Kinard,” Eddie snarked at him. “You want to spill what’s going through that fat head of yours? Because I, for one, can’t believe you are fumbling this. And I thought Buck was the idiot in your relationship.”
Tommy felt a growl in his chest at the insult to Evan, no matter how lovingly offered. Evan was not an idiot, he was brilliant. He was smart and funny and warm and so open and he was going to destroy him when he left. So Tommy left first.
“Eddie, I mean this with love, but leave it the fuck alone. You can stay if you want, catch the rest of the game but I am not talking about this with you.”
Eddie shrugged, “All right, bro. Just be prepared for your man to go full Buck on you.” He chuckled as he toasted Tommy with the dregs of his beer. He got up to grab another from the kitchen.
“I don’t know what that means,” Tommy yelled after him. “What does that even mean?” he muttered under his breath.

Buck wasn’t supposed to react this way. He didn’t want to but he was scared because he didn’t want to lose you, again. He almost lost you months ago because of his insecurities that resulted into pushing you away. Buck didn’t want to end anything that he had with you like that but it happened again. And everything just because one of your old friends surprised you with a visit. Buck knew who your friend was. Kelly Severide.
You used to know him from work when you still lived in Chicago and you two grew close over time. One time it ended up in a hookup but it was after a heavy breakup from your former partner and Kelly was freshly out of a relationship as well. You were there for each other and it just happened but you didn’t decide to go further into that and stay with a close friendship. No weird or uncomfortable feelings. Kelly even helped you to pack your things after you decided to move away from Chicago to Los Angeles.
You sure did love Chicago even with its own thing that happened here and there. You loved the friendships you formed at work and in private. You even grew close over time with the other firefighters from Kelly’s work. But it was time for something new and Los Angeles was your decision. After your move, you needed some time to settle in. After all, you knew no one in this big city and it got you thinking of moving there and leaving everything behind you was the right decision.
But after you met Hen and Chimney you knew it was the best decision you ever did. You met them both at a bar giving out some drinks. They got you one as well and you ended up talking the whole time about each lives. You found out that both of them were firefighters at the 188 and you were looking for a job as a nurse. You knew you wanted to keep working as one since you liked it in Chicago. Especially if you were able to look after the kids there. Sure, it wasn’t always easy times but you wanted to help people and that was a good place to do it.
The three of you exchanged numbers and they invited you to come over to the 118 whenever you want to come over. After a few days you decided to visit them there and you got to know everybody else. Including Evan Buckley. Your now-boyfriend. You grew close with everyone and they welcomed you with much love. Especially your favourite person on earth, also known as your boyfriend. You started as friends and over the time you started hanging out together. Only the two of you and one day you asked him out on a date. With the help of Hen and Chimney actually.
They both noticed the admiring, stolen glances and heart eyes you and Buck gave each other when the other one wasn’t looking and they knew they had to do something. Buck finally needed to be happy again, after everything that happened with Taylor. From time-to-time Hen and Chimney started teasing you or Buck whenever you were alone with them. Or they teased both of you when you were in the same room. The blushed faces of you and Buck were the win of it for them and they knew they were on the right track.
You asked him out once you were alone. Well technically alone because you were sitting outside with him while the rest including Athena and her family were inside of her house getting ready the dinner. Before that Chimney and Hen were sitting with the both of you. Both of them shot you many glances towards Buck for you to finally ask him out because they knew he wouldn’t do it. He always told them 'They don’t like me in that way. They would never.' He was an idiot who was in love. That‘s why you had to make the first move. After gaining enough courage you gave them a glance to leave and they did.
You and Buck were talking about different stuff and after a comforting time of silence, you looked at him and asked him out. You were afraid he wasn’t ready to date again, after Taylor. But you had to shoot your shot, you didn’t want to gulp down your feelings anymore. You felt the most comfortable around Buck and he made you happy. He was your safe place. And you were his. He was blushing and told you he was waiting for this moment.
And in that very moment, you realized that it was the best decision to move to Los Angeles and make a fresh start. Because that‘s where you found your second family and the love of your life. Since then and many dates with Buck it has been two years. You recently moved in with Buck after he asked you to move in and you loved every second you were able to spend with each other. It has been over a year now since you asked him out.
It was a big surprise for you to see Kelly at your doorstep and smiling at you after you opened the door. You didn’t expect him there and especially not at this time. It was your day off with Buck and you wanted to spend it with him inside and some movies. So Buck wasn’t entirely fond of the sudden visit but he was happy for you. Kelly greeted him and apologized for interrupting any plans you might have had. You were happy to see your friend after some time again. You haven’t seen each other in a few months, perhaps it almost had been a year since you visited him and your other friends in Chicago. You missed them but everything that mattered was that you were happy. Here in Los Angeles, with Buck.
“I wanted to see where you live, Y/N/N. You’ve been telling us so much about this city, now it’s your turn to show me everything.” Kelly teased after you asked him what he was doing here. He still hugged you and you let him.
Your eyes went to Bucks who had a smile on his lips. He knew how much Kelly meant to you. The three of you spend the whole afternoon together. After a shower and getting ready, you went out with your friend and boyfriend. But the energy from Buck slightly shifted but you didn’t know why. And you didn’t ask him, you would have done it later. But you didn’t. You didn’t want to accuse Buck of anything and let it stay like that. Little did you know that you would actually regret this later.
Two days later you and Kelly visited Buck at the station. A place where Buck didn’t want to see him if he was being honest. He was already intrigued that he was at your shared home but seeing him at his workplace, knowing he was a firefighter too was something that made him feel not very good. But Buck wanted to be the good boyfriend he is and gulped down his feelings, he knew how happy you were having Kelly around but he was jealous about how happy he actually made you.
Bobby sensed how uncomfortable Buck looked and decided to have a talk with him in private. Buck told him everything and that he didn’t know what to do. He wanted to make you happy and if that meant having Kelly around, he‘d have to accept it. He wasn’t jealous of your friendship with him but about your past and it just made him more insecure about perhaps losing you. You were the light of his life. You made him the happiest person on earth and he didn’t want to lose that.
At the same evening, you sat together with Buck and ate dinner together. You just brought Kelly to the airport and said your goodbyes. Of course, you were sad but now you had more time again to spend with your boyfriend.
"Babe?" Buck mumbled while he poked in his food and looked up at you.
You didn’t look up to him because you were too focused on eating but after he mentioned your name again you immediately looked up.
"Did you hear me?" He asked, slightly upset but he didn’t show it.
You shook your head. "I‘m sorry, no. Is everything okay?" You asked him, not sensing what would happen in the next few minutes.
The look on his face was serious and something was hiding behind his eyes. You knew that. "Not really."
You gulped down the food and worry entered your body. "Tell me what‘s wrong, babe," You tried to take his hand but he put his away. You put your eyebrows together, "Buck, what’s wrong?"
You started imagining all the different potentials that he could say at that moment. Many good ones but a lot of bad ones. What if he decided it wouldn’t work out between you two? What if he regrets it to let you move in with him? What if…
"We need to talk."
Yep, you were sure he would break up with you. You only nodded your head, slowly. You weren’t sure what you should say, so you let him talk.
"A-about Kelly."
You were confused. "What? Why? Did he do something?"
"Not exactly I-" He stuttered.
"Then what‘s the problem?" You interrupted him. You knew you should have let him finish whatever he wanted to say but you got into this defensive mood.
He sighed, not entirely knowing how to continue this. And seeing the stern look on your face made him regret that he even started to talk about it. Buck got up and took the plates to put them in the sink, you followed him.
You put one of your hands on his arm and turned his body to you. "Tell me what‘s on your mind, Buck."
He shook his head. "It‘s nothing. Just forget."
"You know I won’t. Tell me. Don’t push me away." You looked up to him, hoping he would give in and tell you what was going on in his mind.
"I don’t really like him, okay?!" He told you and you took a step back. Not knowing what to say.
"Why?”
He sighed and held the bridge of his nose. "I- I don’t like him. He‘s.." He stopped and looked at you. "He‘s an asshole."
"And you think that for what exact reason, Buck?" You laughed in disbelief and turned around. You went back to the table to clean it.
He didn’t like that you continued to call him ‘Buck’. Sure, it was his name but you barely used this name for him. Mostly you always used pet names for him unless you were talking about him with someone else obviously. But that you were using his name showed the importance of the current topic.
"I don’t like how he slept with so many peo-"
"Just like you did, Buck." You interrupted him. You couldn’t believe he was acting this way, especially right now. He could’ve said something earlier. Maybe before Kelly left Los Angeles. But that he was using this was the irony in itself.
Buck stopped talking and looked at the back of your head. He regrets that he even mentioned Kelly. He sighed and needed to find a way how to stop this conversation.
"If you‘re really upset about this then just forget it, Buck. It‘s in the past and I don’t care." You didn’t want to argue but you both were too upset at that moment. He didn’t say anything and just looked at you after you finally turned around again.
You sighed and continued talking, "I don’t blame you for having sex with so many people before we got into this relationship, so why is that such a problem for you?" You slightly raised your voice.
"Because of you, Y/N! Because he slept with you! That’s my problem, okay?! You and he had sex together," He admitted. His voice matched your tone now.
You looked at him, lips pressed into a thin line. "How do you-" You were confused. You didn’t tell him that but that’s when it all sense for you.
Buck obviously found it out because of Kelly himself. There was no other way because only he knew about it. You remembered how Buck started acting distant after he and Kelly sat alone together while you were in the shower. It was the same day Kelly surprised you with his visit. After you came back from your shower Buck's energy towards you and especially Kelly shifted. Now it all made sense.
"It doesn’t matter. That‘s in the past, o-okay? It never meant a thing." You tried to assure him. After all, it was the truth.
"But it does to me. It matters to me because I see how close you are and I have no idea what exactly happened between the both of you. I see how happy he makes you in a way I can never do." His voice got quieter with each word. Tears were slowly building up in his eyes but he quickly blinked them away.
You came closer to him and shook your head. "Yes, he makes me happy," You told him and put your hands on Buck's face, "But not as happy as you make me. Whatever happened between Kelly and me years ago doesn’t mean anything to me or him. He is married to a wonderful woman. And I am happily in a relationship with you. The only one I care about is standing in front of me and that’s you, Buck. I don’t care about anyone that much like I care about you."
Buck sighed, he was insecure. "But it could happen again."
Your face completely fell, just like your hands. "What did you just say?" You stepped away from him. Tears building up in your eyes. You shook your head, hoping he didn’t say that. "I can’t believe you just said that.”
Regret was written on Buck’s face. He gulped and wanted to take back everything he said in the past minutes.
“You think that Kelly is an asshole? How about you take a look in the mirror, Buck? Because the only asshole I see right now is just you." You said.
Buck gulped. He didn’t mean to say these words, it just happened. "I- I didn’t mean that. It just came out. I-"
He came closer to you but you held out your hand. Signing to him to stop his moves and he immediately did. Tears were building up in his eyes even more now. He didn’t want to lose you. But what if it was already too late for that?
"I can’t do this right now." You whispered.
"Please…" He whispered as well but you took your jacket and walked to the door. "Don’t leave."
You faced the door and didn’t dare to turn around. Because you knew that if you did you would break down crying.
"I didn’t mean it, babe. I‘m just-"
You deeply breathed in and had to take a moment. "I‘ll be sleeping at Hen‘s place tonight. We should step away from each other for now. To… To think about what just happened here." You left the apartment and after the door closed behind you, all that was left was Buck crying. He couldn’t sleep that night and the following nights were even more horrible.
After Hen saw you crying at her door, she immediately let you in. Karen and Hen were there for you. They always were whenever you needed someone to talk to. They let you stay at their house for the next few days and didn’t pressure you into talking. That you were staying at Hen’s house resulted in: her sending diggers into Bucks back at work. She knew what he said to you and wasn’t pleased with that. But she didn’t confront him about it, only because you begged her not to do it. Hen didn’t want to cause more harm into this but Buck knew that you probably told her what happened between you and him. He wanted to talk about it with her but whenever Buck tried to approach her, a new call sent them to an incident.
Buck was devastated. His energy wasn’t the same anymore since you left. Neither at work nor certainly not at home. All he could think about was you. Even more than usual. He needed to fix whatever was left between you. Buck didn’t and couldn’t lose you, just because of his jealousy and insecurities. You were everything to him. You were his safe place.
——————
It was late in the evening. Buck was with Christopher and Eddie in the apartment of you and him. Eddie came over with Chris to cheer him up and get him on different thoughts. That’s what Eddie told Buck but there was a completely different reason why he came over. Sure, they were there to cheer Buck up but after all, it was just because of you. It had been a few days since the argument between Buck and you. Not to forget to mention that you haven’t put a foot in your home since then. Only when you knew Buck wasn’t there as well. Thanks to Hen or Eddie texting you at work or when they were in Buck’s near and making sure you didn’t have to see him. You needed the time to think and make your decisions. You knew you’d forgive Buck but you were still anxious about confronting him about it. You knew he’d give you all the time you would need but you didn’t want to let him wait forever.
Buck and Eddie were currently watching Chris in the living room while he played one of his video games on the TV. Usually, you’d sit there with them and either play with Chris together or talk with the two men. Eddie was talking some sense into Buck's mind to fix this with you. He told him that everything would be fine and that you just needed time. Buck just didn’t know how he could fix this. Should he approach you at Hen’s house? Should he approach you at work? Or should he wait it out and hope that magic will fix this between you?
But luckily none of this had to be done because the next thing Buck heard were your keys opening the door. And there you stood. Nervous in the middle of the door. Your eyes met his. His eyes were filled with worry and regret. Yours were filled with sadness but love. You slightly smiled but it was more like your try to not be so nervous. You closed the door behind you and eventually looked at Eddie who was standing next to Buck.
"Hi, Eddie." You greeted him with a smile which he returned.
Eddie drank down the rest of his beer and called Chris so they could go. He already knew that you wanted to talk with Buck tonight, that‘s why he was here. You knew how much Chris meant to Buck, which is why you begged Eddie to be there and calm him down. You weren’t angry at Buck, just disappointed in him and yourself. Eddie agreed into helping you but didn’t tell Buck about it. Overall, you were happy to have such amazing friends.
"Chris and I just wanted to go," Eddie smiled and saw Buck's pleading eyes not to go.
Buck was scared but this didn’t faze Eddie at all. He just patted his shoulder. "You‘ve got this, bud." He whispered to him and called Chris.
You put off your jacket and watched Chris coming over to the three of you. His face instantly lit up after seeing you and he immediately hugged you after he was at your side.
"Hi there," You smiled down at him and hugged him back.
After saying your goodbyes to Eddie and Chris, they left you alone with Buck. A few minutes passed by.
"So..." You both said at the same time and ended up chuckling together. The air in the room was still awkward. Especially because you were still standing in the kitchen but so far away from each other that it might hurt but neither you nor him dared to step closer to each other.
"I'm so sorry, Y/N." He told you.
You nodded your head. "I know, Buck,” you bit down on your lower lip. “I am sorry as well. I shouldn’t just have left without calling you. The past few days have been-“
“Horrible.” You both said at the same time again. You both shared sad smiles with each other.
You looked at Buck with tears in your eyes. “I think we should have a talk.”
Buck's legs were like jelly after you said those words. Saying he was scared was an understatement. He was terrified. You both stepped a few inches closer but there was still a distance between you.
"I‘m not angry at you, okay? I‘m just.. I don’t know. Disappointed," You began, your voice and lips were trembling. "Not just at you. I’m disappointed in myself." You admitted and took a deep breath.
He put his eyebrows together and shook his head. "There‘s no need to. I understand if you‘re disappointed in me but-" He moved his body forward to you.
"I should have told you about my past with Kelly. About what happened back then and that I indeed had sex with him. If I would have told you the truth in the first place, then we wouldn’t have fought."
Buck slowly nodded his head, he didn’t want to interrupt you and let you continue to talk.
"When I tell you that it meant nothing, then it‘s the complete truth, okay? At the time when Kelly and I slept together, he just got out of a serious relationship and I…” You took a small pause.
“I basically had an identity crisis," You chuckled. "He and I had way too many drinks in our bodies and it just happened but it meant nothing. We don’t even talk about it anymore because it’s in the past." You looked at Buck with much love.
Buck realized he was an idiot, maybe a bit too late but hopefully not too late. "I‘m an idiot."
"Yes, you are. A very jealous idiot.” You agreed but smiled at him. “But I understand. I was once a jealous idiot as well because of you."
"What do you mean?" Now it was his turn to be confused.
You looked down, embarrassed of your next words. "I was jealous because of Taylor and you. Back then when we started to get to know each other all you had on your mind was her. And I was utterly jealous of that.” You looked back up to him. He was now closer to you. “Because I wanted to be the one you talk about like that. The one you look at with so much love and the one you‘re happy with. You have no idea how jealous I was when you told me that you both are together. I saw this as a sign to take a step back from you and that was also the reason why we stopped seeing each other so much." You sighed.
"And when you broke up with her, I was so happy. I could have used this for my own good but I didn’t because I knew what you needed was a friend. And then we just happened after we grew closer again."
He smiled at you now. "And now we‘re here. One year later."
You nodded your head. "I admit what you said hurt me a lot-"
"And I will regret this for the rest of my life. I was in the wrong place for reacting the way I did. I admit I was jealous and hurt that I had to find it out because of him and not from you. But I could have approached you differently. I’m so sorry, babe." You had tears in your eyes, one rolled down your cheek which he immediately wiped away. " I‘ll make sure to show you every single day how sorry I am for saying this and accusing you of-"
You hugged him without saying anything and he wrapped his arms around you to keep you close. You needed this. You needed to feel his warmth again. You missed him too much. And he needed it as much as you did.
"Please don’t ever leave me." You whispered.
"I could never," He kissed the side of your head. "And I would never. You‘re the love of my life."
You looked up to him. “And you’re the love of my life, Buck. And I couldn’t imagine a life without anymore.” As a reply, he kissed you with much love and desire he felt for you.

“Home” for your BuckTommy prompts?
This is quite a cute one I think. Thank you 🩶
***
They sat in Tommys truck staring around the house across the street.
“Tommy?”
“Yeah?”
“I think we found our forever house.”
“I think we did, too, Evan.”
They’d been searching for over a year. In that time they’d gotten engaged and married.
Everybody said that they were being too picky, but they would always disagree. Yes, they had a list of non-negotiables but they also had a list of things they could be flexible about.
It had to have at least 3 bedrooms - that was non negotiable, but the two-car garage with a mechanics pit they could be flexible about if there was enough land that they could build one. It had to have a large yard with enough space for the kids - the 118’s and (hopefully) their own - to play in, and it definitely had to have a large kitchen because they both loved to cook, but it didn’t necessarily need to be on a cul de sac, nor did it absolutely have to have more than 1 floor. It did have to be within an hours drive for each of them to get to work.
They were close to giving up hope until they spotted this house a few days ago.
A 3 storey, 4 bedroom, 2 and half bathroom 1920’s home at the end of a quiet cul de sac. Built by a couple in 1927, and kept in excellent condition by them, and their daughter who owned it after them, who had recently passed away. It was definitely in need of modernising to their standard but it had a large garage at the back of the property with enough space for 2 cars and space to dig out a mechanics pit, 1 full acre of land filled with plenty of trees to build a treehouse in, a huge open plan kitchen diner, and basement big enough to house a gym. And it was almost equal distance to both 118 and harbour station, taking them both roughly 30 minutes to get to work.
Within 24 hours of viewing it they’d put in an offer and hoped and prayed and wished and manifested that it would be accepted.
48 hours later and they still hadn’t heard back from their lawyer. Buck was getting antsy, and the rest of the 118 were getting annoyed about him continually talking about it.
“Did I tell you it had these beautiful oak trees in the yard perfect for us to build a big tree house in?” He said as they drove to a call.
“Yes Buck. And a garage large enough to a mechanic pit.” Hen answered.
“And 3 bedrooms.” Said Eddie.
“And a waterfall shower.” Added Chim.
“Okay I know, I know I keep talking about but.. it’s going to be our forever house. And-and I’m just so excited that we might actually get it. I just.. I can’t wait to grow old with Tommy in it, ya know.” He rubbed the back of his neck a little embarrassed “I have this vision that I keep going back to of walking into the living room and finding Tommy asleep with.. with our little girl fast asleep on his chest.” He looked around the engine at everyone. “Okay you can laugh now know it’s stupid.”
“No, Buck it’s actually kinda sweet.” Chim told him.
“It’s beautiful, Buck.” Bobby added from the front of the engine. “Oh, heads up guys we’re almost there.”
Buck looked out the window and his furrowed his brows.
“What is it, Buck?” Eddie asked.
“I feel like I’ve been here before.. looks familiar.”
“Maybe we’ve had a call here.” Hen suggested.
“Yeah. It’s probably that.” He said, despite the feeling that he had seemed to suggest it was maybe more recent? As the engine turned the corner into the street that contained the fire, Buck suddenly realised where he knew the area from.
The engine came to a stop and he jumped out of down. The fire was blocked from view on the side of the truck they were standing at by an ambulance.
The ambulance drove away revealing the fire and Bucks heart broke.
*
Three hours later Tommy got out of the shower and checked his phone whilst running a towel through his hair. As soon as he saw the text from Eddie he threw on some clothes, grabbed his keys and ran out of the door.
He pulled into the cul de sac and parked behind the 118 engine.
“Tommy, hey.” Eddie walked over. “How many speed limits did you break to get here?”
“You don’t want to know. Where is he?” Eddie pointed his finger towards a car parked opposite the blackened, smoking remains of the house.
Tommy walked over to Buck who was leant against the side of the car, arms folded and a forlorn look on his face.
“Hey, sweetheart.” He said approaching.
“Tommy? What are you— Eddie texted you didn’t he?”
“Yeah. You okay?” He wrapped an arm around Evan’s neck and pulled him into a hug.
“Yeah. No. I.. It was the perfect house, Tommy. We’ve been looking for so long and I was giving up hope, and-and then we saw this place and..” he stopped himself.
“And what?”
“I actually kinda started to think the universe was listening and given us what we wanted. Like, it knew how happy we were and it knew that giving us our forever home would be the last piece. It’s dumb I know.”
“Hey no, baby. It’s not dumb. You were excited for us - that’s nothing to feel bad for.” He squeezed Evan tight and planted a kiss onto his temple before opening the hug, keeping one arm around his shoulder. They both stood watching Eddie hose down the last remaining hotspots of the building.
All that seemed to be left was the basement and half the 1st floor. Everything else was gone.
“I’m starting to think we’ll never find our forever home.” Evan said, sadly.
“I do.” Tommy said confidently.
“How do you know?”
“Because, Mr Evan Kinard-“ Tommy turned to face Evan and took his face gently in his hands “-wherever we live, no matter where it is, no matter if it has everything we want or nothing at all.. so long as we’re together, it’s home. It will always be home.

Do you think they’re setting BuckTommy to be at least longterm if not endgame? Because last nights episode didn’t give “breaking up soon” vibes in my opinion… what do you think?
Yes, exactly. They definitely do not set them up to be another break up for Buck rn. Like with Eddieana you could say it was. With BuckTaylor tho? No, but they didn't use Taylor good and felt like story for them wouldn't go good, which yeah, from the start theres was wrong reasons for setting them as more than friends and they didn't charge their way of attention to her.
With Tommy you can see that they do anything they can to make them work. Put Tommy in as many scenes as contract and plot possible, make Buck and Tommy exist together as not just it's own bubble but actually exist in whole story
Buck and Tommy have chemistry ✅(tho BuckTaylor did too)
Tommy cares about Buck in everything ✅ (listens to him be dramatic, curse believer, efficient and etc) (we yet, if ever, to hear Tommy call him needy, exhausted, etc)
Tommy is connected to 118 ✅ (Taylor was close second but not enough. They kept her just LI of Buck who barely talks to his family)
Tommy is even friends with Eddie (we all know Eddie and Taylor wasn't really good friends, especially Eddie to her was pretty rude and I still don't understand it)
And you can't tell me cemetery scene was set up for future break up soon. No. It set up romantic I love you soon (look how Buck looks at Tommy on his words about people and how Tommy listens to him. It actually can be seen how Buck admits that Tommy is here for HIM when he's in bad times and also let Tommy see what we all saw not once. Buck's heart. He's the man who has so much kindness in his heart and he treats people with it even if they could be not good people, or people who mistreated him. He believes that he's cursed by Billy but chooses to let him rest in peace, let him finally be buried with respect. That's who the man Tommy is falling for. And we can see how Tommy sees it and actually falls deeper for Buck)
Bucktommy still feels like romcoms, like actually set up to be good story. To make people in love with their love. And even in romcoms there's a hurdle to make couple stronger, so ofc we gonna see drama. People won't always watch couple have only good times
#i hope my long ramblings was hopeful#i just have so many thoughts and adhd#I'm sorry 💙#bucktommy#diana answers#911 spoilers

good pookie i don’t want to share my tl with racist, xenophobic, misogynistic and sexist who supports a character with same behavior played by an actor who also is pro-life, pro-trump, zionist and fatphobic who took pics of women at the gym to make fun on them when he was a 30 YEARS OLD FULL ADULT WITH HIS FRONTAL LOB FULLY DEVELOPED
im so full of you and your excused that since he is a queer character he can be forgiven when he didn’t even apologized to hen and chim and you can’t even say that he did it because off screen scene are just fanon HEN DIDNT EVEN KNEW THAT TOENAIL WORKED FOR THE HELICOPTER DEPARTMENT SHE ASKED FOR LUCY and when she saw him she wasn’t happy
i don’t think that this are two people who are friends and talk to each other lmao the last time she saw him was at his party when he was leaving the 118 so fucking 5 years ago but some of you want to hc tortilla babysitting Henren child???? LMAO touching grass isn’t enough you need to touch a fucking forest
also the only scene they had together was cut from the episode because his interaction with Hen and Karen aren’t important, Tim could’ve shown us him apologizing or them interacting but they don’t give a fuck about all that because trolldemort is just a plot device
stop using the queer card to defend him im a queer woman but if tomorrow in acting like a shit human beings people have the right to drag me because being a gay man doesn’t mean that you are excused and can do anything
we are allowed in not liking tombstone because he is a shitty person and personally i don’t like this queer representation im allowed to feel lime this i don’t have to like everything just because it’s queer IT ISNT 2000 ANYMORE WHEN THERE WAS LITTLE REPRESENTATION AND EVEN SHITTY ITS 2024 I CAN FIND GOOD REPRESENTATION EVERYWHERE AND SAYING THAT THIS IS BAD AND YOU CANT CALL ME HOMOPHOBIC BECAUSE I DONT LIKE A RACIST
also liking him and justify him makes you a racist, xenophobic, misogynistic and sexist
making meme about eddie queerness being buried makes you an homophobe, saying that ratings will drop when eddie will coming out it’s homophobic

Spoilers for 8.06 under the cut but I have a hastily written idea of what should happen, even if it seems likely that it won’t…
Buck is left broken from the breakup, spends weeks doing nothing for himself and dreading his own loneliness. His family at the 118 are concerned at his lack of joy and energy, but not one thing they do snaps Buck out of it.
A couple months pass and Buck decides to finally get back out there, maybe take Tommy’s advice. He has been openly queer for longer, maybe there is something to that advice. Maybe he will be able to connect with them like he used to. Back to Buck 1.0, he thinks. So he matches with a few people, and makes plans to meet up with a really hot guy.
The date goes really well. The guy is interesting. No cleft, but that’s not what he’s looking for. He needs different. Something that isn’t going to remind him of the pilot-shaped hole in his heart. He decides to go back to the guy’s place and see how compatible they are in bed. But as soon as things get hot and heavy with him, Buck realizes he doesn’t want this. He wants something deeper, something that this guy doesn’t have. He doesn’t want this. So he leaves without sleeping with him. Buck 1.0 reversion is a total failure.
His next match is with a girl. She’s gorgeous, dark hair, green eyes. She’s a total catch. Best thing, she’s not a guy. Guys remind him of someone he doesn’t want to think about. The date comes a couple nights later and Buck feels anxious about it. She is super interested in him, but the closer the date gets, the less interested Buck grows. He doesn’t cancel the date and tries to get to know her anyways, tries to feign interest as she talks. He can’t stop thinking about how this parallels Abby’s relationship with That Man, how he’s treating this girl the same way That Man treated Abby. At the end of the night, Buck decides against another date and returns home alone. He cannot bear to put either of them through a relationship that he does not want.
But what does Buck want?
What does he need?
The attraction was there with the man he met a couple nights ago. And it was there tonight when he was with the woman. He isn’t repelled from them. They’re just missing something.
Something like a cleft.
A flight suit.
Henleys.
That amazing cologne that Tommy put on before they go out on a date night.
Tommy.
He wants Tommy.
He needs Tommy.
His phone buzzes. Eddie texting him to come to the hospital. Apologizing for ruining his date. Buck scoffs, thinking there’s not much to ruin at this point.
He rushes to the hospital, expecting something with Bobby, Hen, or Chim. But finds Tommy.
“Why is Buck here, Eddie?”
“Buck has every right to know. Didn’t think you were going to cut him off completely.”
“We broke u-”
Buck isn’t going to let him finish this sentence.
“You broke up with me. This wasn’t mutual. How did this happen anyways?”
“That’s-”
“He fell out of the helicopter while servicing it. Banged his head pretty hard, bruised his neck. Nothing broken, don’t worry.”
Buck is seething. Tommy is not that careless.
“I’m okay, so you can leave, Buck. Eddie can take me home.”
“Enough with calling me Buck. Only my friends call me Buck. And you are not my friend. You never were just my friend. You were so much more. That’s why I wanted you to call me Evan that whole time. That’s why I hate it when you call me Buck!”
Tommy opens his mouth to speak and like hell Buck is letting that happen.
“And one more thing. I love you, Tommy. I didn’t want to say it like this, when I’m begging you to give us another shot. I wanted to say it when we were at home together, watching a movie, or lying in bed together after an amazing night. But it’s how I feel - I love you, and I don’t want anyone else. I don’t need anyone else. I just need you to love me back.”
Tommy looks at Buck, stunned into silence, the fight and belligerence from earlier dissipating rapidly as Buck speaks.
“What brought this on?”
Buck takes Tommy’s hand in his own.
“I came here from a date with a girl. I wanted to like her, but she wasn’t you. Neither was the guy I saw the other night. Couldn’t get out of his place fast enough.”
“You ended a date for me?”
“Well the date was over. I couldn’t even pay much attention. And the guy from the other night? Didn’t even make it to the bedroom. I couldn’t get you out of my head.”
“Why, Evan? I broke your heart…”
“Because, you idiot, I love you. And I thought I was the idiot.”
“Maybe I am an idiot…”
Neither noticed the moment when Eddie left the room, but both men look around for him, only noticing that they are alone, the monotonous beeping of the heart rate monitor adding to the silence in the room while neither man talks.
“Is that an apology or regret I hear?”
“I don’t know. Both? Do I even have a right to ask for forgiveness?”
“Why don’t you try and see? Make an effort like I did for you after you left me not once, but twice?”
Tommy stares intensely at Buck, trying to read if that challenge was playful or-
Is Buck the kind of person to goad him into asking for forgiveness only to deny it?
He has to try. Things haven’t been the same without Buck.
“I won’t leave you again…if you take me back, that is…”
Buck surges forward and kisses Tommy aggressively, stopping only when Tommy winces as his head throbs in pain.
“Fuck, I’m so sorry, Tommy. Is your head okay? Neck?”
“Yeah, I’m fine, just sore. In fact, probably better than I’ve been in the last couple months.”
Eddie wanders back in, finding Buck and Tommy almost cuddling in the hospital bed.
“Fucking finally. You two have made me miserable for two fucking months.”
He snaps a picture and sends it to a group chat. Buck’s phone buzzes, irritating him briefly.
Then Tommy’s phone buzzes.
Buck opens the text and it’s an empty chat history.
A new group text.
One with Tommy in it.
Only texts there being a pic of him and Tommy cuddling, captioned “Fucking finally. You all owe me $20!”
And Buck knows everything is right with the world.
