I posted this fascinating 1885 townhouse in St. Louis, Missouri, 2 yrs. ago, but it's still on Zillow's site b/c it's so unusual! Thanks to thefurgler for sending it to me, b/c I love to re-post these homes in case anyone missed it. 3bds, 3ba, sold for $325K, which was much less than the $399,500 price tag. (I guess sometimes unique properties are harder to sell.) Enjoy looking at this one.

The first thing we encounter out front is this sign. What does it mean? The address is 1204 S. 18th St. Notice the Foo Dogs guarding the door.

The entrance hall has one of those magnificent giant wall mirrors and it was painted gray with silver accents. I'm getting a creepy castle vibe.

A lot of remodeling was put into this home, but I'm so confused by it. I THINK that this is what was once the sitting room, b/c of the original fireplace. (Notice how low above the coffee table the light fixture is.)

This piece looks like an architectural salvage church altar. An "altered altar," b/c it has a glass display in the middle.

Looks like conversation seating.

Okay, this is recognizable as the guest powder room. Interesting.

I have no idea where we are or what this is. Looks like a sunporch w/a lap pool, maybe? This house is surreal. Note that the gate is chained.

Okay, we're in the kitchen. What a weird stove. Nice exhaust hood, though.

Beautiful block, but you never know what kind of decor could be lurking behind someone's front door. $325K, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, though.

I’ve been seeing a lot of hate for “artsy” horror and let’s not act like this is some modern horror creation I mean this goes back to carnival of souls in the 60, vampyr in the 30s, haxan in the 20s, and house of the devil in the 1890s. I get that the artsy horror crowd has had a tendency to hate on non-artsy horror but let’s not act like having these artsy horror movies are a bad thing or are some modern day horror thing (they’ve existed for a very long time)

This 2002 house in Greenwich, CT looks like a funky modern farmhouse, but I like it. The interior looks retro. It has 5bds, 8ba, priced at $4.57M.

It's very artsy and looks mid-century modern. It's also very colorful.

This is some living room- look at the high ceiling and all the cut-outs in the walls and the ceiling.

They've got a small area where you can store wine.

Here's a family room area and dining room. Look at the storage.

This is the TV area.

That is some huge sideboard. You can put a whole smorgasbord on there. Not the shape of the attached table.

The cabinetry in the kitchen definitely looks retro.

There's a separate every day dining area with a built-in bench seat.

This bedroom has an interesting built-in bed by the window and a head board with night stands attached to the wall. Note the colors of the bed legs and the orange-upholstered Eames chair.

This house is so skillfully designed and built to look retro.

The principal bedroom has a few steps down and is large enough for a sitting area. It also has a built-in bed.

Check out the fireplace.

The en-suite is huge. Double sinks are metal bowls, there's a big glass shower, round tub, and mosaic tiles.

Look at the cute rooftop deck.

Back downstairs they have serious-looking laundry room.

This is beautiful, it's an open bar, but I'm wondering if it's open or if it's glass. CT is a New England state and gets a snowy winter. I lived there for 7 yrs.

Outdoor kitchen.

Beautiful pool with a separate Jacuzzi.

One acre lot.
