#this is very cool and i want people to see it #even if i have my own criticisms as i always do when watching thr partnering of dancers who aren't primarily partner dancers #sigh
#there have got to be some opera singers who also did dancesport as kids! it's fucking poland!
@elf-kid2 okay i know almost nothing about opera or ballet, but i'm fascinated with body language and movement since i'm an animator. what gives these two performers away as not being "primarily partner dancers"? what could they do better, or what would you expect to see if they did do mainly partner dancing?
Dracula and Jonathan’s Tango - from The Polish National Opera production of ‘Dracula’.

Rest In Peace, drawlloween day 31 🥀
Absolutely going mad trying to edit photos in time, but I managed to squeak these two out for Mabs Drawlloween Club! I love Eiko Ishioka’s costume work in the 1992 Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and since I had some perfect fabric for the job, I decided to make my first ever replica from the film! These are more artsy, so there are definitely more photos coming that will show off the actual work on the dress better haha. And of course, I’ve read Dracula many times by now, and Lucy is my favorite character, but I think also she’s the most misunderstood in how people remember her! Don’t get me wrong, I love a spicy vampire story I will NEVER say no to a nice spicy vampire story 👀, but I think in the original text Lucy is presented with such a unique and relatable horror, that I feel so sorry for her as well as see a little bit of that in the mirror, so to speak. But enough of my rambling for now, happy Halloween!

Underrated 2020s Horror Movies (So far!)
Making this list because these are all good or at least fun or interesting horror movies that I genuinely think need more love!
Tumblr media
Freak (2020) - Gory slasher movie where the killer is played by a really gnarly puppet!
Cadaver (2020) - Artsy post-apocalyptic horror inspired by Sleep No More!
Bloody Hell (2020) - Ex con gets captured by a cannibal family!
Hunter Hunter (2020) - Sad and BRUTAL story of a family in the woods finding bodies!
Tumblr media
Spare Parts (2020) - Girl punk band vs weirdly Mad Max-esque cult!
Fear Pharm (2020) - Corn maze full of a family of killers with moneymaking aspirations!
The Oak Room (2020) - Slowburn thriller taking place in an almost empty bar!
Anything For Jackson (2020) - Grief drives old couple to demon worship!
Tumblr media
Vicious Fun (2020) - A loser gets caught up in a support group for serial killers!
Bingo Hell (2021) - Deadly bingo game with Richard Brake being weirdly hot as always!
The Cursed (2021) - Period piece werewolf movie with very creepy werewolves!
The Final Rose (2022) - The Bachelor but with a slasher on the loose!
Tumblr media
Gatlopp: Hell of a Game (2022) - Horror comedy about a cursed drinking game!

Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls (2023) - Obnoxious guy and a group at their magician idols spooky mansion!
Tumblr media
House of Dolls (2023) - Artsy slasher about sisters who stay in a giant doll house to win their inheritance!
Baby Blue (2023) - It's like The Ring meets Nightmare on Elm Street meets Slumber Party Massacre 2!
Bring Her To Me (2023) - Weird dreams bring a woman to a strange realm with a demon who wants her!
Dante's Hotel (2023) - Slasher set during a New Years Eve ball, very similar tone to Ghost Ship!
Tumblr media

(I know it's technically not accurate since Renfield wasn't facing Seward when he entered the room, but I felt like drawing horror at the time so shhhhh ! 🕷🕸)

The main vampire kisses (book series) complaints I see and my thoughts on them
* Raven’s personality is cringey
I think the readers forget Raven is only 16. It’s pretty clear that Raven was written to be a realistic teenager, and all teenagers have their cringey moments.
* It’s annoying how Raven goes on about how “goth” she is
Honestly this comes down to personal preference. Because I personally LOVED the descriptions of her outfits and the objects she owns. And lots of preteens and teens like these descriptions because they feel inspired by the main characters of books they read and want to recreate outfits or buy objects that character owns
* The story is predictable
Personally I disagree. I first read the books at 12/13 and then 16 and then again at 20 and there are plot points I am genuinely surprised by because I forgot them. I personally feel the stories have their twists and turns but to each their own
* The story/writing is juvenile
This is a book series for PRETEENS AND TEENS. Although some very young adults (18-22) may enjoy the books as well, any older and it is highly likely you may find the writing style childish.
* The story is too cheesy/silly for me to take seriously
If you pay any attention at all, it’s pretty obvious this is supposed to be a
comedy-fantasy series. It’s not supposed to be taken seriously
* The story is too flat and boring
Are we even reading the same books? I found almost every page funny/comedic or at least entertaining.
* Raven is only goth by aesthetic/appearance/fashion
She literally mentions enjoying Bauhaus and The Cure (goth bands) AND mentions enjoying Dracula movies and Anne Rice novels
* Raven’s only personality trait is hating preppy people
I think it’s normal for alternative teens to have “not like other girls/boys/people” stage. I definitely did as a teen and cringe now at it, but it’s normal. Also Raven clearly has other personality traits if you look hard enough
* It’s annoying how the main two towns in the series are called Hipsterville and Dullsville and never properly named
The author Ellen Schreiber said she purposefully did this so lots of people could identify their closest dullsville and hipsterville to themselves and connect to the story more. For example, my town is quite conservative and very dull, but the city centre is more chill with a solid amount of punk and goth people. The towns not being specifically named is because a decent amount of people (in western countries at least) will have a dull conservative town and a chill/alternative/hipster/artsy city by them. People can think about what their own dullsville and hipsterville would be and apply it to them
Are there any other complaints I forgot to address? Lemme know. And yes, I understand that this series is not perfect, but these specific complaints are stupid/silly/ridiculous.

heya! i have a sideblog 'RebloggingRexan,' and you might enjoy it if you ever want to look at more Dracula Daily art from past years, especially 2022. i have both the tags '#dracula art' (leans toward more meme-y / jokey content) and '#artsy dracula' (the more 'fine art' content, although some posts have both tags since that's how Dracula Daily goes).
anywho, i saw you say you already have a lot of stuff queued, and of course there's no obligation for you to interact. i'm just happy to come across this blog! :D thanks for doing this project!
Hello! This is such a funny coincidence, because I just finished going through pretty much that entire sideblog of yours like yesterday :D It's a really good ressource, thank you!!

Thought I should an ‘about me’ post, TW long post hahaha.
I am unfortunately only nineteen years old
I have an odd, weird shade of ginger hair, natural not dyed. Disgustingly blue eyes. My hair is curly/wavy but NOT the artsy café downtown girl way, the I can never brush my hair without crying way.
My favourite type of heels are Betsy Johnson though I don’t own a pair.
Too broke to have a claimed clothing style.
I have long crooked fingers, not interesting but I’d thought to add it anyways.
Extremely pale… ghastly even… I wear spf 100, yes, it exists. It’s in my wildest dreams to wear colourful and spontaneous clothes, but my paleness says no to said dreams.
Horrible grammar and do not care, never have never will. Let me place commas wherever I want.
I love writing poems. it’s my favourite stress reliever. If I could I would stay by the lake all day just writing.
No debate. Winter > Summer. I shrivel and dye in the heat.
Like most, I prefer old fashioned style and decor.
My favourite books are Dracula, the Mortal Instruments series, Mrs Dalloway, Despair and Interview with a Vampire, Normal People, Out of the Easy, All That Remains, Ethan Frome, The Breathing series and Death’s Acres. Don’t debate with me on these books. Don’t care xoxo.
Favorite films (I’m a cinephile): The Phantom of the Opera (2004), War Horse, Beautiful Creatures, Warm Bodies, Mao’s Last Dancer, Silver Skates, Contempt, Sabrina (1995), Henry and June, Camille Claudel, Star Wars franchise, Death Becomes Her, The Dreamers, and for some unprecedented reason, my absolute favourites of all time are Big Fish and The Nutcracker: The Untold Story.
Favourite shows: Criminal Minds (obvi), The Walking Dead, Buffy, Sons of Anarchy, New girl and Derry Girls. OH AND SUPERNATURAL
Favourite candy: anything sour and dark chocolate even though I don’t count chocolate as candy.
Favourite color: changes on the daily.
Favorite Foods: Gnocchi, chicken tenders, and pork fried rice. I eat a fair share of junk (fast food) but that will stay between us girlies, won’t it?
Hobbies: contemplating where it all went wrong and spending too much time in the shower.
Can I sleep? No I have insomnia and when I do sleep I get nightmares.
Trauma? Plenty
Sexuality? Don’t know, nobody stays long enough for me to find out.
Humor? Unparalleled, Unmatched, Unwavering. I’m the funniest person half alive. yes, half alive don’t ask. Half of this post is sarcasm.
Fun Facts: I like using big words in the wrong context. It’s funny. I have an unwavering love for all things nutcrackers and penguins. :p
Murder? Only roaches
Fears? People who like Hidden Valley ranch, heights, large crowds and loud noises.
I love any and all animals but mainly dogs and cats like anyone else.
That’s all I think.
I’m so niche and cool it’s not niche and cool anymore.

tagged by @glitterypin - oooo this is fun, reminds me of the very early days of instagram
Last song: had to look it up because I was listening to my liked songs on shuffle under the shower: She's A Rainbow by The Rolling Stones
Favourite colour: a deep forest green
Last book: I'm not really a reader tbh. If audiobooks count it must've been Watership Down by Richard Adams (which I enjoyed massively!!). Physical books would be a textbook to identify lichens (surprisingly interesting).
Last movie: Treated myself to a rewatch of Dracula (1931) yesterday
Last tv show: Wish I could say something artsy and indie here but no, it was South Park. I'm a sucker for adult cartoons!
Sweet/spicy/savory: Savory. And Sweet. Everything but spicy, can't handle any spice.
Relationship status: Been single for a while and I'm pretty content :)
Last thing I googled: The phone number of my local Vet. My ratties are gonna hate me for making them get yet another shot... oh well
Current obsessions: I don't keep it a secret, do I?? Peter Capaldi, Doctor Who, David Bowie - and this site made me get back into my very first obsession from my teenage years, My Chemical Romance. In the field I study I'm especially interested in Bats <3
Looking forward to: Going to the Christmas market with my friends when they all come back for the holidays. A Glühwein hates to see us coming.
tagging: I don't really know that many people here yet so this is quite random hehe

Usually I'm not really for remakes of already good, classic movies, but I would really love a remake of Dracula's Daughter. Because the movie is so queer and really captures the loneliness you can feel as a queer person struggling to accept this part of yourself. And, to others, this part of you seems monstrous. Which only further makes you feel isolated. It makes you want to be "normal", but, no matter what you do, you can't change who you are. But because this movie was released in the 30s, it obviously doesn't quite explore this fully and it also doesn't end happily. And I'd love to see a version through a more modern lens, where the queerness is explored fully. Where it's all right there and unignorable. I want it to be artsy and slow, and I want it to hit me in the gut and make me sob. I want this so badly
