it looks like a children's storybook and it's mostly lineless and looks not bad so i'm happy with it :D

9. what's something you always come back to when drawing?

i don't know how to answer this. i always love just drawing with a ballpoint pen after digital art tho

11. do you listen to anything while drawing?

i usually listen to the bluey soundtrack while drawing. either one of the two official albums but mainly the episode tracks released by musicmaster on yt. i like listening to stuff with no lyrics

16. how do you motivate yourself to draw?

i don't

serious answer: motivating myself to draw is something i struggle with the most, which is why my art output has been so low over the past few years

but!! i find the thing that motivates me the most is having other artist friends to chat with and bounce ideas of off, as well as finding little communities where you can draw things together. like having ocs in the same universe!! it's so fun to draw interractions n stuff between your silly made up guys

i think the point when i was drawing the most is when i was active in a bunch of closed species groups on deviantart. say what you will about closed species, it's really fun to be a part of a community built on drawing little creatures hanging out in some fictional universe

17. what is something youre confident about in your art?

Anatomy. Absolutely. Without a doubt.

I still mess it up sometimes (literally every artist does). But it's one of the things I was trained specifically to do.

And if we're talking drawing bones? I LOVE drawing bones. I have won awards for drawing bones back in my Scientific Illustration days. And I love teaching how to draw bones. That was my favorite thing when I taught scientific art.

🧠 What is a drawing tool you can't live without?

🥦 Can you share an old piece of work next to a newer piece and say what you've learned?

🧠 Digitally or traditionally, i really can't live without watercolors (brush presets or real paint, both are amazing) 😭😭😭 what would i do without them!!? Use gouache??? (okay I could but it's just not the same😭) 🥲🥲 Watercolors really make me go "wow so pretty✨✨✨" whenever I use them, it just tickles the brain (〃ω〃)

I think Im slowly learning how to make things more interesting to look at? And in turn it's more fun for me to draw! It just feels more lively to me now and that makes me so happy!! 😭😭💕💫💕💫✨💕💫 On the technical side I think Ive gotten a lot better with colors, and my lines are a lot less rigid and clunky, here are some more comparisons:

There was definitely a bit of a perfectionist streak that ran its course in how i wanted everything to look mostly neat back then (even my sketches were neat like what the heck...(ToT) ) so overall i think i learned how to have more fun with it again and the energy reflects ✨

📚 How many layers do you typically use?

A totally reasonable amount

in my defense, since this one involved a lot of copying over the base to show all the layers of his clothes there's more than I'd normally use

I want to say the typical amount is 50 or so? I like to merge them as I go. So when I'm finished with the line art, I'll merge all of those together before I start coloring. I typically keep the colors separate, though, with a separate layer for each color in case I want to adjust the shade. But, if they're small areas and not touching then I'll usually put those on the same layer

13. Talk about a wip you like! ✨️

I'm gonna kind of cheat, it's not one drawing wip but many. Once I finish up with little links, I have an original comic I'd like to start making! Thinking of calling it Ghost Camera. It's about this girl named June who suddenly gains the ability to see ghosts via the flash of a vintage camera. She gets roped into helping a little ghost girl named Cece find justice for her murder.
