youtube blackout reminded me of the incident that finally got me to use an ad blocker

was back during quarantine, so there was nothing else to do all day but watch videos

I guess what ever algorithm or ai or whatever decides which ad you'll get shown glitch because all it would show me for the entire day was the same exact condom ad. I got so sick of if that I got an ad blocker so I could finally stop hearing the little song from the ad every time I clicked on a video

no more ad money for you mr. tube, I have no idea why you decided I needed condoms so bad back then, but I'm not turning that blocker off now

in a world where there are far fewer people, and by extension workers, but companies don't want to give better working conditions. They hide a clause in the contracts that lets them essentially reset your brain and alter your memory

people can't really afford to quit because of dystopian circumstances, but if they have a mental breakdown the company will erase their memory of anything bad happening and get them back to work after a quick "vacation" (read, got sent to the memory altering department a la a computer being sent to IT) In the worst cases, they erase everything about them working there and everyone's memories of them, then bring them back in as a "new hire" to be quickly retrained and reintroduced to the workforce

is there anything else that separates vampirism into a species rather than illness/condition

because it is possible to be born with an illness/condition that you contract from a parent, but typically one doesn't change species upon being bitten by something (this is magic/curses we're talking about though, so I am willing so accept that as an explanation, I'm just asking if there's anything else in addition to that)

Apocalypse story where monsters/aliens/creatures of some sort, take over Earth

one of them keeps a human as a pet, but soon realizes that the human is deeply traumatized, ya know cuz of the apocalypse. So, the creature starts searching the world for a still living human therapist who is still sane enough to give their human pet therapy

the human pet comes with them of course, I mean putting them in a kennel would just make things worse yeah? And proceeds to get even more traumatized during the journey

Hypothetical-

If every animal on Earth just up and died, would plants be able to survive on their own without them?

like, I know there's many plant species that rely on animals for things such as pollination, but are there any that would be fine on their own? Not just without mammals or birds, but without insects or worms and the like. Entire animal kingdom vanishes, just plants, fungi, bacteria, et cetera remain. Could the plants survive?
