assorted thoughts: caterina is fully 'korean' or whatever the thedas equivalent would be in this design, and clawed her way to the top of the crow food chain after years of work. their armor is something caterina forcibly incorporated to distinguish house dellamorte from the other crows, and a symbol of their status because they get it custom made or imported. of course race-equivalents do not really exist in thedas or this world but i also will never forget how gaider just implied (east) asian people don't exist in thedas because it just so happens that there are no asians on the continent of thedas (guy who forgot about boats) . explode and die. there's not the same kind of discrimination as exists irl ofc (and the dellamortes are actually treated fine, much better than a mage or elf) but a level of xenophobia against foreigners from a different continent. illario looks the least like her, and passes for being fully antivan, which changes how he is recieved by the other crows.

I guess I'm not really clear on what the deal is with Treviso's defenses or lack thereof. So it's a "defenseless merchant city" with no standing army, like the rest of Antiva, because... the reputation of the Crows is enough? Maybe I missed codex entries or, god forbid, a tie-in novel, explaining how this collective of extremely wealthy city-states that grew to power because of their naval might and location as a trade hub didn't at any point establish an army. Shouldn't each city have their own army?? Especially because there was a civil war at the beginning of the Dragon Age??? And dragons have been ravaging the north for fifty years and there was a Blight 20 years ago and the Qunari have been threatening invasion for decades????????

Kinda really hate it when people compare Dragon and Yassop in terms of deadbeat dad-ness cause like ?? They’re so completely different??

Dragon left his child, not because he wanted to, but because he had to. He was waging war against the world essentially and didn’t want to brand his son a criminal right along side him. So instead he left his baby in the care of his father, someone with the power and status to protect Luffy if and when his parentage comes out. He makes the effort to personally show up in Loguetown to protect Luffy and encourage him on his path. He continually faces east because it’s the closet he can get to watching over him.

This is a father doing everything in his power to protect his son, even if it means never seeing him.

In contrast, Yassop left his sick wife and young son to go chase his dreams of piracy and just..never came back. He did come back to the East Blue admittedly but only to drink in bars with his crew mates and tell other little kids how awesome the son he barely knows is. When given the chance to actually meet that son, he clams up and begs his captain to not touch anchor on Wano, claiming he’s ‘not ready to face Usopp yet.’

This is a man too cowardly to face the consequences of his actions and face his family aka a deadbeat.

In conclusion, Dragon is beating the deadbeat dad allegations meanwhile the deadbeat allegations are bearing Yassop's ass.
