I feel fandom would get along a lot better if there was mutual understanding that liking a character, agreeing with a character, and thinking the character is well constructed/executed are all separate (if often overlapping) positions, each with their separate tastes and subjectivities. Also: character portrayals are intended to make the audience feel things; this is separate from (if often overlapping with) analyzing/appreciating their actions and role in the story.

#I would queue this because it's truly not character-specific #but there is always something happening with a character so that probably wouldn't help lol #anyway I'm making this nonrebloggable because I am not interested in the tomato throwing atmosphere out there #do not clown in bad faith on this post or in my inbox please I will just delete it #op #it's just over time I do see a pattern of like “I think X character was wrong in this” and some reactions being “you *hate* X character!”#or that if you like a character you *must* agree with them and/or have such a deep an endless compassion for their faults and mistakes #that it comes all the way back around to removing their agency because HOW could they do any different #and if you do not give them this grace then it is antithetical to you liking them or enjoying them or even just being neutral on them #when this is often not the case #like as an Essek and Jonas Spahr enjoyer their fuck-ups are very essential to why they have any sort of “grow as a person” arc #characters *have* to have texture and foibles or they are stagnant in the story - let your fave fuck up a bit! As a treat!#and lastly I'll just say that my point here is NOT that everyone is always positive or that haterism doesn't exist.#Some commentary just seems to happen at different frequencies from each other and it catalyzes more angst than it needs to

(there will still be a post tomorrow to keep on track)#The original 3 panel comic idea was fine but the point of this new schedule was to take time to push myself a bit more.#I was taking a look back through some comic artists I felt inspired by #and I really loved how Lynda Barry fills her gutters with patterns and doodles!#Obviously I'm not going as absolutely wild with it as she does but it was a great exercise!#I truly think the gutters are the most important and most overlooked part of any comic. There's lots going on in that space.#It's the same with timeskips. The implied movement between moments that we don't see changes depending on how wide that gap is #You're here for the funny tags so here's some that ties this time talk together:#I think LWJ was thinking about that second note from day 2 but it took him 7 days of hazing to commit it to paper.#I think he sends it a day later and immediately regrets it. Chasing down the messenger and everything.#You know if something actually happened to his brother he would never ever forgive himself for putting the bad vibes out there.#Third time skip was the hardest because there was so many possible flavours of jokes here. Day 8/9 was a personal favourite.#day 14 was also funny (week by week). I think the debate on 'how long does lwj take to catch feelings' is more or less:#'how long does it take for him to arrive at a particular stage of grief and yearning (and awareness of it all)#This is a symphony. There is an act by act structure. Every day he is fighting to keep his old sensibilities. He is losing so badly.#(I'll be returning to the main comic soon but there is more of this AU to come!)

this has been a roller coaster of a design journey but finally I can present you: class swap artificer!adaine and rogue!fabian

#dimension 20 #fantasy high #fhfy #fhsy #fhjy #fabian seacaster #adaine abernant #fh class quangle #goodbye... goodbye hoodie kid adaine..... we have mecha pilot/power armor adaine instead #I couldnt really land how she'd get a hoodie reliably in freshman year given the abernants pattern of confiscating shit from her #so I kinda switched gear and dug a bit into a like sukeban aesthetics instead. and since shes with the AV club I like the idea of #like a radio coord thing for her. hence the suspenders #I fully admit the sukeban thing is influenced by the hacker woman in ghostwire tokyo who I have a small crush on #she's SO cool. too bad about a number of things with that game #the jacket of useful things is a racer jacket this time bc Im predictable like that #her ensemble in junior year is her tank top + overall it might not be clear enough in the pic...#just had the thought ''man I should do turnarounds for all of them'' and immediately had to slap myself out of it #anyways uh! fabian I have inflicted with my favourite thing to do to characters who like to stealth or fly under the radar #which is Bright Extremely Noticeable Jacket That Hides Your Hands #fabian's ghost motif has led me to the famous horror movie trope of silhouette with iconic jacket from afar #(see Sinister and Alice Sweet Alice)#and I love to imagine him hanging the coat up somewhere and opponents aiming there instead of at him #but also the raincoat is specifically modeled after the yellow fisherman's raincoat #and. that led to. me thinking abt fabian pulling riz up at that cliff with a net instead of the battle sheet lmao #so his junior year design is fully Fishing. which is so fucking funny it has obliterated all other possibilities from my brain #ranger flavour: captain ahab #I still debate making him carry around an actual fishing rod tbh. right now Im giving him a rifle grappling hook thing #gods. Here are three Inuyashas that I drew mainly for lineart and posing practice. I colored them in the early manga's pink pallet. I think a pink Inu makes him look somewhat ghostly.

#the three patterns here were originally stockphotos that i heavily painted on top of #my art #inuyasha #inu yasha #i really like how rumiko does her line weight ..#thats the thing i like about 70s and 80s and early 90s manga.. the pretty line weight #in early manga you can really see how tezuka married ink paintings with disney's linework . ..#and in rumiko's work especially i think u can see that line weight comes from traditional ink paintings ..#whenever she draws one of the yokai flying parades i just think it's beautiful ahdfaksjdfhsfh i want that lineart depth so i study it
