The funniest thing about the Sohm Al dungeon is that when I did it for the first time I did it with the NPC party- Ysayle, Alphinaud, and Estinien. It was all going swell but I, a dragoon main, CONSTANTLY found myself trying to outdo Estinien??

Clone Days 24-12: Goodbye

Using this free day last day to expand on the previous day ^^. I wish to write the fanfic about it but i barely have ideas on what happens before or after this scene xd (ok i do have ideas on the before, the problem is always the after xP)

Person who’s interested and thinking about watching RGU here, is Utena/Anthy a toxic ship? How is it portrayed and what is your general opinion about it?

So short answer? No, it's not a toxic ship. Long answer? Utena is about a lot of things, and one of its biggest themes is unhealthy relationships. Friendships, family bonds, and romantic relationships. It is a large scale dissection and deconstruction of how these relationships can become unhealthy and what can be done to fix them, if they can be fixed at all.

So, without spoilers, for the majority of the story the relationship between Utena and Anthy is unhealthy and kinda toxic, but the point is to show how they overcome it. Again, no spoilers, but there's a scene in the 38th?? episode I think that is one big thesis statement about this theme.

RGU is fearless when it comes to confronting dark subject matter. It is compassionate in its portrayal of these subjects, but it doesn't pull any punches. As such, there will be moments throughout where you'll think "wtf wtf wtf" and moments that will heal your spirit. Utena and Anthy have their share of both, but far more of the latter.

this weeks chapter was very... :/

i don’t even hate the chapter this week like content wise i don’t think it’s a bad chapter i just think that the lead up (the entirety of the culling game) and the pacing and gojos reaction to everything is making it all very. meh to me :/

the whole culling game wasn’t my favorite for a lot of reasons and i don’t necessarily blame gege for it completely. i think that there isn’t an arc better than hidden inventory and there aren’t any fights better than the ones in shibuya, so following both of those really incredible arcs with another that is supposed to be equally as good or better does not seem like an easy thing. (spoilers for CG and new ch. under the cut)

one of the reasons the fights in shibuya are sooo good to me is because they are fights that are deeply rooted in character and character development. maki killing the zenin clan, megumi fighting toji, etc. the itadori-mahito fight at the end of the shibuya arc is entirely a character/meant for character development fight for itadori, with his whole "i am you, you are me" realization/acceptance, and it is arguably the best fight in the manga like it is sooo good.

but there arent any fights built around character in the culling game and like. given that gege has made such amazing, character oriented fights in the past. it is a little bit disappointing. esp since i don’t personally want to just watch/read a bunch of fights repeatedly like i WANT there to be some kind of deeper meaning/purpose to them (outside of trying to end the culling game/free gojo obv). makis fight in the CG is probably the most “character” oriented fight and i was just very eh about it :/ but i love maki <3

the treatment of the women in the CG recently has just turned me away from the manga in general too. scorpion hair remi girl was fucked, uro not having more of a role was disappointing, yuki DYING wasn’t great.

tsumiki was the reason i didn’t stop reading the manga earlier in the arc because i was looking forward to her having her moment for LITERALLY THE ENTIIREEEE ARC. just for gege to do that to her and it reallllyy pissed me off.

as much as i hate how tsumikis arc went, i think i could’ve been a liiittle bit more accepting of it if the whole yorozu-sukuna thing was done well. but i didn’t like that either LMAO. i think the whole “yorozu loves sukuna and she sees how lonely he is etc” is like. a cool concept overall and i think if it was done right it could’ve been a good addition to the plot. even if there was just a little bit more of a flashback of yorozu and sukuna from that era with more information and context i think it would’ve made it a lot better. and i could’ve been like. a tiny bit less pissed about tsumiki. but the fact that it wasn’t a very satisfying arc for tsumiki OR yorozu just made it all very underwhelming to me. esp since tsumiki was what i was looking forward to the most in this arc 🙃🙃🙃

so yeah this chapter wasnt the worst thing in the world its just very underwhelming bc everything that led up to this was really underwhelming for me too :( and gojos reacction in this chapter is. upsetting. esp following the whole yorozu-sukuna thing and the "sukuna is lonely" part of it. like sukuna and gojo are meant to be foils of each other. gojos character is built around the fact that he has those connections and relationships with his friends and the students and he fell in gay love with geto and he "wont let anyone else be lonely" like the relationships he has is WHY HES LIKE THAATTTTT. him having no reaction to nanamis death and nobaras condition and maki and megumi and ALL of his students feels like a very surface level "gojo is a funny silly goofy guy" thing to do. but i would like to believe that gege knows and cares about his characters more than a surface level interpretation but. idk well see i guess. i just would have liked to see the sukuna-gojo being foils of e/o actually being played out narratively in these past few chapters more. but hopefully there'll be more of that during the next arc.

anyways so like. the chapter itself is not necessarily bad i just think that the CG itself was really abrupt and lacked a lot emotionally/character wise (for me at least), and then the pacing of this whole thing has been really off for me so its hard to look at the whole thing collectively and actually like it lol.

i feel like gege is really just trying to speedrun the rest of the manga and move onto something else which SUCKS bc it has soo much potential to be sooooo good. whatever anyways goodnight.

i'm disconnected enough from mainstream fandom that i actually have no idea which characters are unpopular to them... i think amelia is pretty widely hated but i like her well enough especially as an arc for sam. i liked michael in s15 (and not a second before). him and adam's relationship was really fascinating they shouldve done more with it.

as for within my mutuals/samblr.... i honestly have no idea. i love the leviathans in s7 because i just think theyre fun but does that count as an unpopular character? sadly i am a hater to my core and there are far more popular characters i dislike a little....

OH wait i know. LATE SEASONS LUCIFER. everyone hates his ass and i will admit by s13 i was going Can somebody just rip up mark pellegrino's contract already (doubled in s14). but i actually really stand by him. smarter people than me have written better meta about this but there's just something so insidious about the way he acts in late seasons knowing hes inflicted irreperable torment and damage on sam.

like. ur century long abuser & torturer & rapist is always making edgelord dirtbag jokes and acting like a 14 year old with daddy issues and saying hes a virgin and hes awful obviously but hes awful in such a petty human way except hes Not. it lulls everyone into this false sense of security where they know lucifer's like, evil, but he's also just this annoying douche they work with sometimes, feels evil the same way your extremely right wing Young Conservatives make-me-a-sandwich coworker is kind of evil, and no one actually knows what happened in the Cage cause sam never talks to anyone about it, and i just think about how like........incredibly awful and isolating this mustve been for sam.

lucifer wont take anything seriously so how can anyone take Him seriously?? people complain about how hes a serious threat in like s5 and s7 and afterwards hes just a joke but i Like that. because he hasnt stopped being a serious threat hes just now petty, impulse-driven, apathetic, perpetually-teenage from the stunted growth of an ancient being in the Worst Possible Way. and hes still horrifically evil and sam is still incredibly terrified of him..

its just like! great to play around with! tfw your abusive ex is obviously a dick to everyone who meets him but he just kind of seems like a joke so no one can really take it all that seriously and now you just look kind of crazy for being this scared of him because tbh he seems too stupid to play the sort of psychological mind games he did and torment you that badly! sorry thats so interesting. then u add JACK into the mix? showstopping. astounding. jack Knows hes evil but like... thats just some guy. thats his dick dad who's kind of mean to sam. but like dean's his dick dad who's kind of mean to sam. shrug emoji.

So Im in love with the new chapter! Ik and the exchange students are making a list to do before the exchange program ends is such a cute idea and a good way to tie the story with a beautiful bow. Love Ik's relatable hatred of having hair styles that makes you want to pull it out (⁠•⁠‿⁠•⁠) (My hair would be styled so tight that it made little me HATE having my hair styled and it was one of my main reasons on having short hair) I cackled so hard on seeing Ik's list that she wants to spray Lucifer with a water gun which is frickin funny (and adding to Lucifer's reaction-) along with Satan and Belphie's mutual "wtf" moment with Ik when she said it was all a dream.

(That belpheroth crumb made me squeal like a squirrel, like you would have to be lying that Mammon and Asmo did NOT heard that (⁠≧⁠(⁠ｴ⁠)⁠≦⁠ ⁠) )

Also AHHHH THIRTEEN MY LOVE ily, so is she actually working at the haunted house or what? I know she said she wasn't supposed to be there but the fact she knows like the workers makes me think otherwise (although I think that's how she got in without being labeled a guest?)

Also does this mean we're going to see Raphael on the next chapter, considering the pattern that the side characters appear in?

The new chapter is overall so fun and just so wholesome <3. But it kinda has a bittersweet vibe through out it yk? I mean meta and in story, like Ik's time in Devildom is coming to an end, the same thing with our time with the fic is about to end as this was an amazing journey. So I wanna say thank you for making this beautiful story (⁠◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍⁠)

ahh i'm super glad you liked it!! asmo might've been too busy telling mephisto off for his stupid ideas, but mammon totally overheard and also totally let lucifer in on the goss later

as for thirteen - she's employed at the house, but she's supposed to be at the caves doing her job as a reaper, hence why she doesn't want word to get out that she's there (the other employees know who she is, but aren't snitches lol)
