Wow, just wow. @somerandomdudelmao, your series was incredible. I only found your comic in July and I didn’t become an active tumblr user/follower till September, but I’m so glad I got to watch this project come to a close. The ROTTMNT fandom wouldn’t be the same without you and your comic. You’ve inspired so many people, including me, and I just want to say thank you, Cass. Thank you for making my year a little bit brighter. Thank you for reigniting my love of art. Thank you for creating. Thank you for existing.

You’re no longer just some random dude lmao. You’re the creature who fixed the apocalypse, the creature who brought together thousands of people and built a family. A family of turtles and fans.

In honor of C.A.S I wanted to color and animate the final panel of the comic. Im still learning color theory and digital art but you’ve inspired me to improve, and what better way to start than with the end? It was a beautiful ending, so perfectly paced and full of a peaceful hope twinged with a bittersweet sadness. Your comic might be done, but this turtle family will live on forever.

A/N: I LOOOOOOVE the Bale AU so much that I just couldn't help myself but to make this.

"What's going on April? What's up with the family meeting?" A man with a purple bandana asked. April wrung her fingers nervously before speaking. "Ok look, you guys might be a little annoyed with me on this one, and I admit I should have talked to everybody about this first! But I kind of um... didn't do that..." The woman laughed nervously, tugging at her yellow shirt. Another banded man, this one in red, looked at her curiously. "My dear whatever it is, I'm sure we won't be mad". He said with a reassuring smile. "I invited two old college friends to stay here with us in the guest bedrooms while they visited here for vacation." She said rapidly, flashing a guilty smile after she blurted it all out.

"Ok, ok, ok. Back up. Two old college friends?" A man with a collar began. "Yes Leo. They're sisters. And they're yokai". She said and Leo nodded. "Ok. I guess that answers one of my questions." The man with the purple bandana spoke up once more. "And how long will they be staying with us?" He asked, narrowing his eyes down at the woman. "Three months". She squeaked softly and the man sighed, slightly annoyed. "Do they know about..." A man that had formally been quiet spoke up now, referring to the lot of them with his hand as he fiddled with one of his locs. "No Mikey. They don't. Well, they know Casey and I are together. But they don't know about you guys... or the incest". April explained, causing the terrapin to nod in thought.

"Look. Again I'm sorry. I should have spoken with you guys first. I was just... so excited." The woman said guiltily. The red banded terrapin went to speak once more but was caught off at the sound of a voice. "April?"

New York City was alive with life. Even at sunset, everything was teeming. A young woman made her way down the streets, backpack on her shoulder and suitcase in her hand. "Let's seeeeeee. According to her instructions, I should go down this alleyway..." The woman muttered out loud to herself before turning down said alleyway. She kept looking around, eyes scanning the ground until she found a manhole. "Bingo".

Using her strength, she lifted the manhole cover, climbing down and setting her stuff down before climbing back up to recover the hole.

She made her way down the winding sewer lines, doing her best to follow her friends instructions. Eventually she saw what looked to be it. "April?" Was all she called out as she made her way into the lair.

April jerked away from the conversation she was having with her partners to the woman that had just walked in. "Chiyo!" She called out, squealing as she ran her direction. Chiyo dropped her things, opening up her arms and catching the woman before picking her up and twirling her around. "Prill! Oh it's so good to see you!" The woman said back, smiling and giggling. She stood up, eyes shifting to another human being. "And Casey! How have you been, man?" The woman asked, making her way to him to hug him gently, hand softly patting his shoulder blade. "Been good. You?" The man asked back, causing the woman to shrug. "Meh. Been living life". She said simply and Casey nodded with understanding.

"Oh! And Chiyo, these are the boys!" April said, arms extended as if she was proudly displaying them. "It's lovely to meet you". The tallest one of them said, extending a hand. "Pleasures all mine. You must be Raphael. April told me all about you guys". She said, grinning as she firmly shook his hand. "Buuuuut what I didn't tell you is that Casey and I are actually dating the boys too." Her smile was nervous as Chiyo looked over at her with wide eyes. She was waiting for rejection. Disgust. Maybe even anger. "Well shit. Didn't know my girl could pull mad bitches". Chiyo said finally, flashing a reassuring grin. Everybody seemed to relax at that.

"Oh! Prill you don't mind if I...?" The woman trailed off and gave a hand motion. April shook her head, making a hand motion back. The turtles look at each other in confusion before a burst of flames seemed to engulf the woman. "Oh it feels so good to just let the extra limbs stretch!" Chiyo said and as the flames subsided, it was obvious what she meant. Large black ears sat on the woman's head now, accompanied by nine swishing tails. The woman flashed a smile, showcasing sharp fangs.

"Woooooaaaaaah! That's so cool!" Mikey said, stepping forward to get a closer look at the woman. Chiyo giggled and wound a tail around his body, silently giving him permission to touch. "So you're a... fox?" A voice asked and Chiyo looked up to eye a certain soft shell turtle. "Technically, Donatello, the term is kitsune. But more or less, yes." The woman replied and the turtle looked at her. "Please. Call me Donnie. If it's alright with you, I'd appreciate it if you could come to my lab at some point? I'd love to study you." He said gently, cautiously coming closer to observe her tails.

"I'd love to." She said before gazing at April once more. "Stella will be in tomorrow. She's flying in from Okinawa. Poor girl will probably be so jet-lagged". Chiyo said with a worried gaze. "Got it. I've already got rooms for you and Stell set up. Should I go ahead and show you yours?" She said, giggling softly and Mikey's glare, a tail still firmly clutched in his hands. "I'd love that honestly." She said before gently reclaiming her tails as Casey picked up her gear. "I do apologize, my dears but I must take my tails back. I desperately need rest." Mikey huffed but gave an "okayyyyyyy" before allowing the woman to walk off with April and Casey.

"She seems nice." Mikey said once the trio had left, Donnie gave a nod of agreement. "You think she'd let me paint her nails." Raph couldn't help but laugh. "I'm sure if you asked nicely then yes." He replied before turning to Leo who stood with his arms crossed. "Leo? You ok, my love?" He said and Leo grumbled. "I'm fine. Just a little cranky that we won't be able to freely express affection with one another." He huffed and Raph smiled down at him sympathetically. "Oh please. You just want free reign to fuck whenever, where ever you want." Donnie purred, grabbing his twins chin. Leo felt his face heat up but he played it off with a smirk. "Obviously. Can't exactly fuck my brother on the couch in front a stranger". He cooed back, stealing a kiss.

"It's just for now. Eventually we will tell her. Especially since she and her sister will be here for so long". April's voice came firmly. The woman walked up to Leo, grabbing his hands and squeezing them, causing him to relax into her touch. "Until then though, how about I make it up to you, yeah?" She said, eyes sparkling mischievously.

It was 10AM before the other sister had finally came in. "April? Chiyo? Casey?" Her soft voice came. Casey was the first to reach her, softly telling the woman to go ahead and get some breakfast in the kitchen while he took her stuff to her room. She crept to the kitchen, finally finding it. "Um... hello." She squeaked as she booked her head into the kitchen. "Stellara!" April said, jumping up from her seat to give her a hug. Stellara giggled, hugging the woman back. "Stella. So good to see you again". Chiyo's tired voice came, wrapping an arm around her sister to draw her in and give her a kiss on her forehead.

"Short as ever I see". The woman teased, looking down at her sister. "Old as ever I see". Stellara shot back, a blush on her cheeks. Chiyo feigned hurt, dramatically putting a hand over her heart. "You wound me, my dear sister. I'm only twenty minutes older than you". She said, smiling softly as she kissed her sister's forehead again. "You two are twins?" Mikey asked, looking up from his skillet as he continued to cook a beautiful breakfast. Stellara made her way towards the oven, smelling the delicious odor. "Yeah. But she was born before me so obviously she holds it over my head". The woman stated, watching the man cook. Mikey noticed her gaze and chuckled, grabbing a plate and piling it with food before holding it out wordlessly for her. Stellara eyed the food with wide eyes before grabbing the plate.

"This looks amazing. Thank you. I haven't eaten in hours". She said and Mikey grinned. "Of course, sweetheart. Our home is your home while your here" he said sweetly and Stellara looked over at her sister. "I like this one". She said softly with a grin before grabbing cutlery. Chiyo and Mikey exchanged a glance before chuckling. "Hey didn't you have nine tails yesterday?" Leo asked as he looked up from his plate to eye the singular tail behind Chiyo. "Yeah. I can control how many tails are out at a time. My sister and I rarely ever let all nine tails out unless it's for training, grooming, or formal events. Sometimes we'll let out three but not as often as just the singular one" she explained, sipping at her morning tea. Leo just hummed before nodding in understanding.

Stellara looked around, a brief flash of flames erupting before exposing the woman once more. She shyly sat down, white furred tail wrapping around her waist. "Since it's... safe, I guess I can let loose a little and show off the appendages". She muttered, smiling softly. "Careful. You might get a wild Donnie after you". Casey said, tone teasing and Chiyo laughed. "Or a wild Casey. Again that is. This man used to beg to brush our fur. Said it felt so soft." Chiyo said, shooting the man a teasing grin as his face flushed red. "Oh shut up." Casey muttered and Chiyo shrugged. "Or what?" She challenged. Casey turned to her, blinking slightly in surprise.

"Excuse me?" He said, voice dropping down an octave or two. Chiyo turned to him, standing toe to toe with him, a smug smirk plastered across her face. "Oh I'm so sorry, didn't realize you were loosing your hearing already, old man. I said 'or what'? Hm? Gonna tumble around with me like we did in college? You know you always lost those." The woman taunted and April almost choked on her coffee in laughter. Casey just growled. "Yeah well I'm also stronger now, so I think I have more of a fighting chance". He retorted and Chiyo laughed softly. "Still got anger issues I see". Chiyo said and Casey scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Still a brat I see". He seethed back and Chiyo laughed before sipping her tea once more. "Touche, my good man".

Stellara scoffed and raised a brow at her sister. "We haven't seen each other in god knows how long and you're already teasing the poor man". Chiyo raised a brow back and smiled. "Right because you're so innocent. Should I remind you of exam night?" She said and Stellara just flushed bright red, grumbling before shoving her mouth full of food again.

"Exam night?" April questioned and Chiyo waved her hand. "A story for another time. I need to get in on these pancakes that Mikey made". Chiyo said, tone dismissive. April hummed, choosing to let it go, but she didn't miss the knowing glance that Chiyo and Stellara shared.

finally cracked im writing my theories on color symbolism in rottmnt god help me

I could not get this very silly idea out of my head, so I decided to draw this earlier late last year.

For your consideration, in the turtles meet eachother AU: 2012 Donatello 'I feel like a freak and just want to be human' Hamato meeting Casey 'Physically a human, culturally a mutant turtle' Jones Jr.

I feel like this can only end in them trying out a Body Swap.

"Hey, Other Master Donatello?"

"For the last time, please just say Donnie."

"Sorry. Um, I was thinking. You know how you wish you could be human?"

"Gee, no, I forgot about that."

"Right. Well, I always wondered- see, even though my Mom raised me for most of my life until she- well, I spent most of my time training, usually with Master Leonardo and my other Sensei's, and they kept forgetting I was a turtle like them. A lot of what they taught me was sort of turtle-specific and we had to work on how to adjust it for humans."

"Okay..."

"So, at some point it made me start feeling sort of, weird, about my body. Disconnected."

"We're just commiserating over shared species identity issues now?"

"No! I was thinking, maybe, we could try... swapping. You said it happened to your Ma- your Raph, once, right?"

"You- you're willing to swap bodies? You want to be a mutant?"

"I'm curious! And, besides, I want to try a few things I was taught but could never do myself!"

"... I... suppose as long as we know we can swap back..."

They do NOT tell anyone else because They Would Be Stopped. But boy howdy they go through with it (I just know Rise Donnie has a body-swap machine laying around somewhere that he made at like 4 am one night after too many coffees and promptly forgot about, 2012 just needs to check it over and tinker a bit and bam) and everyone else is just-

"Okay, tell me right now what you two were doing in my lab unsupervi-! Wait, something is off here."

Casey in Donnie's body is ooohing and ahhhing over how weird but strong he feels and how the shell actually has feeling, which he didn't expect, and Donnie in Casey's body is just still and staring into a mirror with wide eyes.

"Oh, no." Rise Donnie looks between them, and then at the machine. "You- I- OTHER LEO, YOUR BROTHER DID SOMETHING INCREDIBLY STUPID!"

Literally everyone rushes downstairs at that, there's a moment of confusion because 2012 Leo was certain it must have been Mikey or Raph, but then-

"They swapped!"

"They- Donnie what-"

"Look at me!" The voice is probably the only part Donnie wishes transferred over, but ah well, small sacrifice. "I- ha! I'm human! I- this is amazing! Even the sensation of the air is different, my skin is so much thinner now!"

"So this is why Sensei always worried so much about me having armor," Casey marvels, scratching at the plastron in amazement at how protected he feels. He startles. "Wow, your voice sounds weird with my speech patterns."

"I know!" Donnie is full-on giddy, bouncing in place. "And-and I feel so light! How do human ever have trouble sneaking?!"

"Sooo... this is probably unhealthy, right?" Rise Leo whispers to 2012 Leo. "Because we cannot let them stay like that forever."

"If they're both happy though, why not?" Rise Mikey whispers back. "All that could happen is instinct could cause them to misuse the bodies, and Donnie could get Casey's spine broken in a fight forgetting he doesn't have a shell and Casey could hurt himself not realizing how strong he is nooooooohhhhh oh okay, I get it."

"Well, they'll have to stay like this for at least a day," Rise Donnie says, scowling as he checks the machine. "It's going to take a while to charge enough to do that again."

"I'm going to go the park!" 2012 Donnie is buzzing with excitement. "And I'm going to get ice cream, and-and talk to other people! I'm going to wear- what should I wear? Ha, I've never had to consider clothes before! Okay, um, I always thought big hoodies looked nice, and- jeans! I want to know why people love jeans so much!"

"I have to do some sparring before we swap back!" Casey goes up to Rise Leo and grins hopefully. "You always had to hold back so much in the future, now we can spar for real!"

"This is going to be a long day," 2012 Leo grumbles.

In the end they both enjoy the experiences very much but also miss their own bodies, but I think they do like. A once-a-month body swap from then on so Donnie can enjoy Human Activities and Casey can mess around while being like 20 times less vulnerable and stronger (those mutants are strong as FUCK and no-one can change my mind, yes including 2012).

Everyone worries a little about Donnie's mental health in the whole situation and keep an eye out for if it worsens his whole dysphoria thing he has going on but for the most part it actually seems to be alleviating it a lot. They're all quite surprised as how well Casey can use Donnie's body in training (never real combat if it can helped, just in case) and realize he really was trained to fight like a turtle and BOY does he excel at it.

These designs were a Meet the Robinsons AU that I fumbled Bc I got overwhelmed w options fjsjjd Mikey was Goob (kinda?) and RaMona kids went back in time to hunt him down to make their fam whole again. It spirals Bc the hat (Doris) still exists and was invented by Donnie. She still wanted revenge on Donnie (and Leo and Raph) Bc they tried to “kill” her. Alas I got lost in the details and plot so I had to drop it 😔 anyways more info on the kids below

Jennika: Just as Raphael was his father’s son Jennika is her father’s daughter. Both the good and the not so good qualities jumbled together to make him go Gray as he had done for Splinter. I love seeing the analysis where ppl show Raph and Splinter were near copies of eachother and wanted to play on that with Jennika. The story will be diff obvi as Jennika won’t be a raphael clone that’d be boring. She has her own dreams and destiny which conflict w Raphael’s overprotective parenting and worry which went overdrive after Mikey’s disappearance.

Venus: imagine living in the shadow of someone ya never even met and ur constantly second guessing if ur acting in such a way in order to keep ur fam happy or if u r truly living as urself. Rip to Venus she is a ray of sunshine and optimism with a flair for rustling up good natured trouble which often invokes her loved ones to draw connections to Mikey. Venus is a people pleaser to a drastically toxic point where she’ll ignore all of her own issues and worth so long as her loved one(s) are doing ok. Shes learning magic from Shinigami and is killing it ✨

Y’thann: most likely to plan and win an all out war! He’s very analytical and quick thinker however he’s the most arrogant little shit you would ever meet. No one would ever believe you tho as he’s also an incredible lair and a momma’s boy. Often found hanging around Uncle Donnie’s lab learning and building tech and weapons. He prefers salamandrian stuff and loves training with his mother. He gets away with so much Jennika loathes him for it as she is constantly thrown under the bus for it.

Koya is their cool/insane older cousin. Sorry Koya fans she isn’t a mutant but she does have a pet falcon named Koya JR.

April/Donnie/Casey have a kid that Casey found and took home but never designed her rip

Leo has the highest honor of being AroAce w no children Bc he’s got a hoard of nieces and nephews to train and care for

The timeline of this photo has been bothering me since I watched the movie

So I've watched the rise movie a good few times now and this photo has annoyed me for a while, if I make any mistakes please correct me cause maybe I overlooked something

So we all know casey jr brings this photo back with him from the future. It shows what I'm assuming is the gang celebrating April's accomplishment (a certificate/plaque?) From EastLaird University, we know from the present timeline she is currently studying journalism there and writes for the university's paper. they all pretty much look the same age as the present timeline (i feel like they look a little more mature so maybe a little more time had passed because it looks more like a graduation celebration to me but anyways) and theres no indication the apocalypse had started yet, they're all smiling and look happy right? Again this is just me analysing and making assumptions but surely when faced with the end of the world you wouldn't typically take the time for a celebratory picture right?

Now here's my main question: when and how was this photo actually taken?

From what we know in the movie, casey jr comes back to the exact day the key is found, the foot clan wasted no time in using it to free the krang (as we see in the movie this all happens on the same night), and during the next day the krang have already caused panic and infiltrated metro tower, I assume in the future timeline they probably got there quicker since they had the key temporarily stolen in the present timeline.

Leo and the others don't recognise the photo so it definitly didn't exist in the present timeline yet, the apocalypse basically destroyed any and all civilisation, I would assume the university would also have been destroyed with all the chaos and the gang would have had their hands full in the whole world ending situation, as far as I can see, there's no plausible gap inbetween where this photo could have been taken in the future timeline since it all happened so quickly

How did Raph’s death affect the future EW! Family? Did they become more distanced from one another or?

I did Casey receiving his battle shell, but Casey calling Leo dad would be the two of them freezing and losing function in their brains while they each rebooted. But rest assured, Leo would cry tears of joy later, either to April or Usagi.

a long list of post-movie headcanons i randomly thought up

mikey uses braces for his hands, but is reminded not to overwork his hands often

donnie absolutely despises anything brushing against his shell, no one is allowed to touch it without permission

leo permanently wears hearing aids and uses crutches or a wheelchair in the first few months of recovering because he’s used to the low gravity of the prison dimension

mikey has had a lot of breakdowns over worrying his hands will never stop shaking, some days are worse than others

raph freaks out whenever he gets pins and needles in his arms or legs because it feels like krang matter when he got possessed

donnie hates slimy textures, only accepting broth or foods with low flavor, no in-between. spaghetti is banned from the hamato household

casey jr tries to spend most of his time with raph, as he was the first to go in the future timeline

raph often is reminded to eat or sleep, as he spends a lot of time doing chores or standing watch while the others were bedridden

mikey needs help with preparing foods in the months of recovery, splinter often helped him in that time

leo is forbidden to make sacrificing jokes for the foreseeable future, a rule implanted by donnie and supported by the fam

casey jr spent a lot of time by leo’s bedside, reminiscing about his sensei with him

in the weeks after the invasion, when the boys were all still beridden, splinter spent his time reading stories to them to get them to sleep

april spent almost all of her time with her mom and the boys in the weeks after the invasion, helping them recover

the one positive of the invasion was that it brought splinter closer to his sons, he spends as much time as he can with them

casey jr and leo have many inside jokes, no one but them know what they mean

draxum and april are the main two that went out to grab medications and necessities for the lair immediately post-invasion

casey jr often tells stories of the future timeline to the others

Ok this might be an unpopular opinion but someones gotta say it...

Cassandra is a better Casey Jones than Casey Jr

Ive gotta be honest... i think casey jr is a kinda mid and i dont particularly think all the fanfare about him is warranted LOL

I want to note real quick that i dont DISLIKE him! He is a good character who only got as much development that a 2 hour movie could give him, and he filled and satisfied the role he needed to play in the movie, but the way the fandom latched onto him over the og casey... kinda makes me raise a brow

Fandom spaces love a traumatized boy from the future, and believe me i do too! But the amount of attention given to casey jr after being revealed as casey is a wild amount compared to the amount of attention the original casey gets. Maybe its just me getting into rottmnt after the movie aired, but this seems a little baised?

Not only that, but the amount of... idk the best way i can think to describe it is infantilization of casey jrs character isnt helping my opinion of him. It feels like most content surrounding him babify him and reduce him only to his trauma post movie. I understand that it can be interesting to explore his trauma now that he no longer lives in the literal apocalypse, but it feels strange to see him reduced to someone who cant get around on his own and lives with the turtles when the original pitch for the movies ending has him leave to explore the world, which i feel is very appropriate for him and wish they had kept it in

In the movie when april shows us where the og casey has been and what shes been doing throughout the film, it tells us that casey is friends april which in theory, shouldve also shown us that she and the turtles are friends to some degree as well and should already have her place established within the group as this generations casey jones

However the final shot of the movie is a group shot of the family+casey jr, which subtlety implies that he's the new casey instead, and that this is the main cast moving forward (should it move forward *sob*). While both caseys being considered in the main cast could be true, it does strike me as a little odd that this was the final direction the rot team decided on for the official ending versus the scrapped ending, especially because it complicates the pre-established canon. It wouldve been one thing if our og casey was a different character, but that isnt the case.. y... (<_<)

Casey jr is an interesting character though! And i can understand why he appeals to fans, especially as his character post movie is fun to expand on aswell as developing his past involved with future versions of the main5, but one (me lol) could argue that the og casey is just as interesting of a character to delve into as she was involved, when you boil it down, a cult most of her life, and that concept, as well as the guilt she could hold for working with the foot and releasing the shredder, ontop of trying to befriend and gain the turtles and aprils trust are also intriguing concepts that could be explored, yet finding content that mentions her at all beyond her relation to casey jr is scarce

It feels as though shes been reduced to a background character within the fandom despite being a reoccuring character for the entire show.

For the two seasons of rottmnt that we did get, we are shown just what kind of character casey is and her possible dynamics with the turtles+april. Shes passionate and powerful and beyond determined to prove her worth and reach her goals. Shes also playful and reckless, a side that fits well with the main cast and their humor and, if the show was given more time, couldve developed naturally as the newest addition to the family as most caseys are. I could also argue that her characterization fits that of previous caseys more than casey jrs does (though i will admit that considering the plot of the movie, i cant positively say what hed be like outside of life or death scenarios, but i also cant imagine hes going to make a 180 in personality without it feeling jarring and ooc)

Now, i wont ignore the fact that her arc was cut horribly short and her involvement in the movie was quite literally a brief mention, both of which definitely play into how under appreciated she is. But at the same time it almost feels like everyone, including the show runners, have willingly pushed her aside for this new boy version to fill the role of casey jones. Hell, even when you look up rottmnt casey jones, cassandra barely shows up. Its casey jr which further proves my point

Idk, TLDR im pretty disappointed that despite being a consistent character for the entire show, no one seems to write or acknowledge her and if she is mentioned, its only relevant to push forward casey jrs character development or a brief cameo. As much as i do love casey jr (i can feel like hes mid and i can like him!) it seems like most people forget about the original casey, or favor casey jr in her place and she deserves more love and credit than shes given!
