I have started an autistic!Wilson fic but after that is finished I may answer the call to write an extremely angsty Kerry Weaver character study fic (probably with a Susan/Kerry ship affiliation because I have never been fully able to get past Sandy outing Kerry). I have been rewatching ER and my girl deserves better. She is the very best, I adore her with my entire being, and like 80% of "protagonists" of the show participate in a campaign to hurt her for no clear reason except that she doesn't seem neurotypical. It would probably be some heavy angst because when I watch certain scenes in seasons 7/8 I get the distinct sense of "this character is severely depressed to the point of being suicidal, and no one knows or cares." It would probably follow the trajectory of Susan realizing at some point just how bad things have gotten for Kerry since she left, and feeling Remorse.

Rewatching ER sometimes feels like watching someone's villain origin story. Because Kerry starts out intense, but clearly trying very hard to make friends. She just wants to make things better for everyone. And she has Ideas of how to do that and wants to share them. But by season 8 she starts to close off and retreat behind walls of hostility, because all the nt characters were attacking her anyway. She starts looking out for herself more, because she is aware that everyone else hates her for things she can't fully control, and would stab her in the back eagerly and happily if they got the chance. She becomes less "let me help you all with my Charts!!!" and more "I need to stay on top to survive please don't take the only thing I have in my life away from me let me just have this job." So if Kerry stayed at County General until a hypothetical season 23, and a new character is like "why is she so closed off/cold/compulsively pushing everyone away?", the flashback sequences would be to seasons 2-8.

I may also answer the call to write a surprising friendship fic between House and Kerry because of character parallels I've discussed in a previous post and because I think it would really work. They would NOT get along working together, but at a conference, especially post ER season 7, they might become quasi-kindred spirits. Because they both NEED to be right to justify their existence, and I think House would recognize how Kerry is slowly becoming afraid of showing any kind of soft edge to people, even if he would never acknowledge that recognition. I think they would settle into a kind of "I would rather crawl over glass than work with you, but outside of work we can sit and drink and ruminate about how other people are wrong and ignore how we are one of each other's only friends" dynamic. They are similarly intense, but in conflicting ways (Kerry hyperfixates on administration and House hyperfixates on cases in a way that makes him rebel against administrators). Also Kerry just deserves a friend.

Rewatching season one and thinking about the scene where Wheezie walks in and Rafe quickly flips over his innapropriate magazine out of respect. Imagine him doing the same for deer!reader but because he doesn’t want to taint her innocence

you come skipping over, rafe barely noticing until you’re virtually right infront of him due to the marijuana clouding his brain. his hand shoots out, flipping the magazines before running a bashful hand through his floppy hair.

“wha’s that?” you hum before you even get to greet him.

“dont worry, alright - why’re you over here anyway?” he drawls, inwardly wondering why his first reaction was to be rude to you. perhaps he’s simply irritated that he got caught.

“was looking for my parents because they’re not home. thought they might be here.” you shrug one shoulder, and he nods slowly, taking a huff from his bong. you stare over the porch, looking into the distance to see if you could see them, or anyone for that matter — as you weren’t so keen on being caught with rafe whilst he’s smoking weed. it didn’t really go with your image.

“y’want some? or….” he coughs, and you turn to blink at him.

“oh, um…” you swallow, overthinking the whole thing. you knew you’d sound deathly uncool. “i don’t smoke.”

rafe wets his lips, nodding exaggeratedly as if to silently say ‘of course.’ before putting it aside. “yeah, uh… good. shits bad for you. you— you know drugs in general just fuck everything up. they ruin lives, man they — they just take everything…i mean, shit.” he rants, growing increasingly more irritated with seemingly no one by the second. at the end of his mini rage, he slams his fist into the soft arm of the porch seat he reclines on, making you widen your eyes slightly.

“yes… that’s what they told us during the anti drug assemblies at school.” you converse, awkwardly wiping your hands down the sides of your plaid dress. you knew rafe enough now to not be so deathly shy, but that didn’t rid you of your social anxiety.

“hah…yeah. shit, i forget we went to the same school. i probably walked right by you, huh.” he calms almost immediately, in the stereotypical unpredictable rafe cameron way. he did walk right past you. many times. you nod, saying nothing at all as to not give yourself away before craning to look behind you at your exit.

“okay. well… if my parents aren’t here i should head home. they’ll probably be there soon anyway.” you glance at your shoes as rafe stands, nodding casually.

“yeah…yeah.”

you go to walk down the porch steps, but stop— feeling a wave of bravery, and turn to look at him over your shoulder, adjusting the tote bag that hangs from it. “oh… and you shouldn’t read those pornographic magazines. they’re objectifying and damaging to women.” you try to hold your chin high, but feel your face get hot. he leans against the porch balcony, seemingly unbothered as you continue walking away.

“yeah well the women in these magazines are gettin’ paid a shit tonne of money so i wouldn’t worry ‘bout them alright?” he calls out carelessly as you disappear away further, before turning his back and sighing, hand coming up to scratch the back of his neck. “shhhit.” he whispers, to no one but himself.

i have very specific thoughts rn but,

[name] almost stomping their way to Pantalone's office, scaring the many agents they passed in the process. all because they received a package this evening containing a new dress/suit, that looks like it costed at least a few hundred thousand mora(maybe a few million if you include the jewelry).

they kick open the office door and start shouting at him for answers, he looks amused and looks so smug. the agents behind you are shaking in their boots because how can you even have the courage to do that??!! yelling directly at a harbinger and he takes it like it's a daily occurrence??!! if they told any of their mates about this they would send them to a mental hospital telling them that they're crazy and are seeing things!

anyway, you wear the outfit on the next event you were both unfortunately invited to. and it was really pretty on you plus it fit very nicely, but it still doesnt excuse the ludicrous amount he spent on it.

Unfortunately, it was a common occurrence for you to find gifts from your husband purchased without asking you first (because you'd stop Pantalone in his tracks from spending that much money on lil old you - literally, you'd drag him away while the clerks looked on awkwardly.) Any normal person would be squealing in elation at such pampering, but the problem was that your closets (yes, closets) were a nightmare to go through and you'd lost track of how many things you owned a long time ago. Really, you truly loved Pantalone, but you could feel a headache coming on each time he dolled you up with something new!

Pantalone already expected your presence and lecturing long before it happened. After all, this little back and forth was frequent and usually witnessed by the agents (whose heart rate climbs all the way up, even though you are the Harbinger's darling, it's still a very odd sight.) Pantalone loves to take in all of your mini rants and chuckle when you lightly punch him or pull at his cheeks, and top the whole thing off by saying he won't do it again. (He will definitely do it again.)

In the end, that's just how he shows his love, so you'll just be scolding him until the end of time. Dressing you up is also his key tactic of surviving boring parties as he can just stare at you the whole time.

How old was Scar when he first joins the lab program? Cause we can guess from the Cub and Scar college fic that he started being Hot Guy when he was around 16 but when exactly did he start getting like all the surgeries and training???

Also can we just talk about how fucked it is that he had to start being a superhero when he was 16?? Especially because (I’m assuming) his costume probably hasn’t changed much between now and then, meaning that the labs legit put a 16 (!!!) year old out into the public wearing bootie shorts and a top with a boob window in and and went “ah yes, this is exactly what a 16 year old kid should be wearing” like- HES A CHILD?!? MAYBE SEXUALIZING HIM ISNT SUCH A GOOD IDEA STUPID LAB PEOPLE?!?

We actually get this info a couple of times, in Cold-Blooded Crush for instance...Scar was 15 when joined the labs program, and he started performing as Hot Guy later that same year, though not at full capacity till a couple years later he was still on the scene.

I think this was mentioned in one of his stories, it's slipping my mind now which one...but 'Hot Guy' isn't the name he was assigned by the labs. Originally, he was supposed to be 'Hawkeye' 😅 but when he first made contact with the press, he was still a little loopy from the surgeries and not entirely with it, not to mention Scar tends to let his words stick to begin with, so he introduced himself to them as 'Hot Guy'.

And booooooy were the labs not happy with him about that one. But it stuck immediately and they couldn't really do much about it. His original hero uniform was much less risque, it was similar patterning but it was full pants and a cut off full length shirt with some light body armor (let's be real it's just a re-skinned version of Hawkeye's outfit from the original Avengers movie 😆)

Scar came up with his Hot Guy outfit over time. He slowly started to wear less and less while on hero duty because he actually just found it easier to move and also wanted to differentiate between his two personas as much as possible. Scar Goodtimes always wears full coverage clothes, multiple layers...so Hot Guy should be the opposite, right? Bit by bit he started to change stuff up, and as he got more and more popular it wasn't like the labs were gonna stop him from doing stuff like that. The labs were more concerns with his behavior and his enforcement of their rules, not what he was wearing, after all. Plus it seemed to make him more and more popular, so why would they complain?

TLDR: Scar joined the labs program was he was 15. He didn't start wearing sexualized outfits till he was in college, and that was his own choice, not the labs. The labs absolutely suck, and they put Scar through hell, but the whole 'Hot Guy' thing wasn't their idea 😆

okay i typed this in a reply but i need to say this more detailed here too, the way totk dealt with horses (and stables) is bad and worse than botw imo (yes i can rant about that too, these weird choices are in every little spot in totk, its almost impressive)

in a game that lets you build cars and stupid flying maschines, towers that shoot you into the stratosphere AND teleporting points all over the place, the chance is already low that you use a horse- though i would be one of them bc i love horses and hate building and didnt find it fun at all-

(also i almost never used any parts i had with me bc you cant put them back and your dumb vehicles despawn as soon as you dont look at them- also a negative thing about that system that reinforces the feeling of actually using it being more punishing than rewarding with the added bonus of the good ol saving your health potions forever problem)

-and something i DID like was that you can have more horses and the ... one.. new color (the lil spots but only AFTER you do that one quest in the spy post)

the stable points seemed like a neat idea, but like so many things, are utterly cheatable, imo the system should have only given you a point when you visit a new stable, so you actually have to go around and visit them all

(also .. add new stables, like mini ones or sth that dont offer beds- you dont need that anyway- so you have more places in which you can get them ... why did they remove some of them anyway, shouldn there be MORE now that the land is supposedly healing/being repaired? especially the one next to the big canyon, its so empty there it would have the perfect place for sth like a new settlement or a big boss arena but no its more empty than it was before, why?? and then putting yet another repeating annoying quest there in that weirld empty place?? i just dont get it)

letting you farm points by sleeping at a stable or bringing in a horse gives you LESS incentive to actually go around the world bc you can just farm it there

(and if that was done so youd 'discover' the malanya talks to you in your sleep 'secret' ... that is literally told to you, and if its bc you dont want to force players to go around and find every stable to get all those rewards ... why do you have 140 or whatver caves then with the majority of them being the literal same thing over and over ... to make people actually use the sleeping thing there? .. why, who uses that anyway, and farming points by sleeping there .. what the hell does that add? AND THEN the stupid sleep over tickets, probably the most nothign reward ever, dont count?? i dont think i ever used one- it just all doesnt make any sense, everything plays against each other)

the upgrading system for your horse is .. once again, a neat idea horribly executed, you have to go find malanya to upgrade them, and similarly stupidly like the fairies, they only tell you what food you need for what upgrade when you are there .. or when you are sleeping in the special tm bed at a stable, randomly, one food, bc the quantity changes too

which is just so ??????????? let me go and do a quest that rewards you with a lil booklet in which you can look up what an upgrade costs, or let the stables have that, either as a list or in the menu when selecting a horse or something?? (also why the hell is malanya in a different spot anyway, like, it feels like a modder just plopped them over there, their og spot is just empty now - except for yet again a stupid filler quest for .. another big horse and a yaaaaaaaaays crystal shrine quest- ... the spot is even still called spring of the horse god .... its so stupid, just like the fairy shuffling around, like you really couldnt think of a better way to reuse that concept other than to ... move it to a different spot in the same map and map level???? and not change anything in their og spot except idk, put a hole in the map ... for one of them like .. its like they moved them around last minute just to have the semblance of things being 'changed' with no regard what makes a change actually feel like one and what just feels like, pick up thing, click on random spot on map, drop thing- its like that for the fairies and shrines too, its so dumb and .. feels disrepectful to botw and how much thought seemed to have went into these spots that were clearly built about those things)

and like it couldnt get WORSE, they cut off the paths that horses follow automatically with one of those miasma buttholes (sorry its just a hole cut into the map, it doesnt even look like miasma burst through, it just .. cut out) a monster camp (that RESPAWNS, i thought those camps you clear with a quest would stay clear, but that would make sense, so of course it respawns and you can do the frame rate killer quest over and over yippieee) or otherwise like, with a big rock or a broken bridge-

and there is NO WAY to create a new path or fix or move anything in a game ABOUT BUILDING supposedly, like you needed more reasons to never use a horse????? i liked jsut hopping on and letting them follow a path and chill looking at the landscape, you cant do this here, and you cant even excuse it with 'its bc of the theme' as in, stuff is destroyed bc calamity 1.5 or whatever bc nothing in the game makes it feel like theres anything actually at stake, but the real crime is to make it not be fixable. WHY??? link moves entire buildings with ease but cant move one freaking rock that fell into a river?????? you swing around logs like a club but cant fix a bridge so your horse can get over it??????????????????????????????
